1 out of 5 eggsLoud and low quality

Pros: None

Cons: Loud, low quality

Other Thoughts: purchased two of them both worked a few hours and then made loud grinding noises and I had to return them. I would skip this low quality product.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Portable and compact. I mainly use this in my small office but sometimes wheel it over to my guest room. It works well, kind of noisy but it doesn't bother me much. Great little AC for the price!

Cons: My only complaint is the window attachment. It's pretty weak when dealing with the weight of the hose. I actually made my own window attachment out of wood and installed a screen which works much better. It came with no screen over the plastic exit pipe. Where I live, critters or bugs could get in.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: sleek tall design fits in a small area very cold blowing air easy setup the air flow has up and down left and right louvers to put the air right where you want it

Cons: although ive not seen this unit leak when its full and you shift the unit around the pan will splash out so be careful important for you to keep up with the remote you can not control fan speed without it. this is a room cooler your not going to be able to cool a large space so no chance of this cooling off a living room just fyi

Other Thoughts: received unit undamaged unboxed and left the unit for a while its very important not to turn the unit on for a little while like 4-6 hours, the shipper might have had it lying down on its side and the oil can run out of the compressor and turning it on would be bad news. One other tip I recommend check what circuit your putting this on, if its a 20amp breaker then your fine if its a 15 amp or less you could run into problems of breakers tripping no other electrical devices can be used on this circuit except the air conditioner.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!!!

Pros: Cools off my room about 400sq feet. with the sun beating on the window all afternoon.

Cons: I wish the remote told me the temp of the room rather than the temp I have it set for.

3 out of 5 eggsNot as good as the KY-80E4

Pros: Easy to assemble, keeps my 12x14 (168 sq ft) room cool even with the computer in the room running at a high load (generating ~750 watts of heat).

Cons: I live in Texas, and the dehumidifier tank was filling up every 6hrs or so. I ended up just placing the unit on a platform about 6" off the ground and attached the hose to drain into a 5 gallon water container. Not very sightly, but only needs to be emptied once every few days, instead of once every 6 hours - also a lot more convenient (plug the water valve back up, empty the container, put the container back under the unit, unplug).

I wish the 'auto' settings were adjustable (w/o having to get into the actual unit and modify it's temperature gauge), I'm comfortable at 74-76o, auto will take you all the way down to 68o and then turn on the fan to boot.

It is a bit noisy, but as long as it's not cutting on and off constantly, it's a nice constant noise. It actually helps me sleep, as I have a hard time sleeping w/o some white noise.

Other Thoughts: A person below posted this unit uses 700W, but the KY-80E is 935W. The Soleus SG-PAC-08E4 (the KY-80E4, also 8,000 BTU portable unit) uses 730W and also has increased dehumidifying capacity (38.4 Pts/Day vs 28.8 Pts/Day).

Note that this is SOLEUSAIR 'MobilComfort', the (imo) better, more efficient unit is usually listed as something like: 'Soleus Powered by Gree 8000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner Model #: GL-PAC-08E4'.

This is still a good unit but it is not as good as one of the later models that you can find for the same (or lower) price.

I would recommend going to the SoleusAir website before making a purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Purchase!

Pros: Purchased this unit on a Friday night. Took it home, unpacked it and set it up. It is easy to assemble. Exhaust portion of unit is easy to slide into most any window. Comes with an easy to use remote control. Turned it on and within 1 hour my bedroom (approximately 150 sq feet) was very cold. The only thing I would change about the unit is the location of the drain pipe. It needs to be slightly higher up on the unit. If you are trying to decide whether or not to buy a portable air conditioner, this is a great buy and comes highly recommended. The sound of the unit is quite low and is NOT at all loud.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Go ahead and make the purchase of this unit. You'll be glad you did and your wife will REALLY be thankful you did.

2 out of 5 eggsAl_Summer2

Pros: Very cold air at first.

Cons: After a year the unit quit cooling. Replacement or warranty service will cost about $75 shipping to send the unit back to the manufacture if within the warranty period. The lower half of the unit DOES NOT HAVE AIR FILTERS which I think contributed to the unit not lasting long so be prepared for the unit to have a very short life span.

Other Thoughts: This is a follow up to last years review.
