3 out of 5 eggsspend the extra money

Pros: does its job, was very cheap

Cons: Is very very slow and loud. Sometimes the steam doesn't work so I have to use the espresso maker to build up the pump so the steam will work. It's kind of fussy.

Other Thoughts: For the money I think it's ok. However, I wish I would of spent a little more money for a better one. You get what you pay for. Seems to be built well. It takes 10 mins. to get a double shot and to steam the milk.

5 out of 5 eggsThumbs up!

Pros: -Makes a perfectly acceptable shot
-Has regular portafilter, not the "crema-enhancing" type!
-Small footprint
-Easy to clean
-Steams milk nicely
-Heats up fast
-top heats up, so you can warm your cups

Cons: -portafilter needs to be removed for steaming
-Regular mug doesn't fit under the portafilter
-shiny surface is easily scratched
-make sure you run a couple of tanks of water through the machine, without coffee in the filter! Our's had some weird white residue come through at first (decalcifier? Maybe the machine was a return?).

Other Thoughts: We were a little worried about ordering this, after reading the reviews, but at that price it was worth a try.
So far, so good! Does everything we need, and with a good bean (freshly ground), this makes a very nice shot, with real crema.
We mainly drink lattes/cappucinos and make about 6 per day.
Hope this one will last a long time!

5 out of 5 eggsIt's almost free

Pros: Very good looking and shiny out of the box, It feels like a sturdy machine, good to high quality material, thirty dollars!!!if you don't like it, gift it, everyone would think it was more than one fifty.

Cons: I feel sorry for this machine getting a lot of bad reviews, I don't think it deserves it. I had nothing but decent to good quality coffee with it, see thoughts.
My next purchase will be an Espressione 1385, I'm just waiting for the price to drop to 2 Benjamins, but until then I'll be enjoying some decent to good cappuccinos with my 30 dollars machine.

Other Thoughts: The key to a good coffee is practice and experience, I used to work as a server in a hotel and I had the chance to work with the most expensive machines out there, even then it took me more than 6 months to make a decent espresso, only with time I got it right. I'm going to share with you some tricks to making a good cappuccino and espresso: when warming milk make sure you put the tip of the steamer on the surface of the milk gently as you go up and down to create enough foam, fill the espresso wand with the right amount of blended coffee, best results blender is a burr milling one, tamp down with enough pressure to make the surface of the ground been smooth, use some force if you have to. place the wand into the machine and make sure it's locked tight (throw your body into it). Put your cup of hot milk under the wand(as I call it) and have a small shot on top, no more than 2 seconds shot or it'll be watery. Done.
I hope it works out for you as it for me.

5 out of 5 eggsMine Works Great

Pros: I was reluctant to buy because of several bad reviews. However, knowing how good NewEgg is about returns, and also having read what great support Kalorik provides, I decided to take a chance. The main factor was also that there was an additional $20 promo code at the time, bringing the price of this $129 machine down to $29.

Now keep in mind that this is a PUMP espresso machine. The mega-market cheapies are steam espresso machines, vastly inferior to a pump machine. Getting even a low-end pump espresso machine for less than $70 (and that would be a very deep discount) is practically unheard of, much less $29.00!!

Obviously they were trying to liquidate a product that had a bad production run and has been troublesome for them. But knowing this company cares about it's brand and would probably fix it if I got a bad one, I figured it was well worth the risk.

I have not been disappointed. The machine works great. It is what it's supposed to be: a good 'starter' pump espresso ma

Cons: It's pretty loud, but from what I've read online this is true of most pump espresso machines. Even some mid-range to high-end machines are said to be fairly loud.

Other Thoughts: I can't believe I got a brand new, nice looking, functioning pump espresso machine for $29 bucks. If any problems come u with it I will write a follow up review. But so far it's great.

Keep in mind that making good espresso is an art, or at least, an acquired skill. Even the most expensive machines will not churn out perfect espresso with great creama if you do everything else wrong. A lot of people make a hobby out of pulling good espresso, because it has so many interesting components and variables to play with. I'm not one of them, but it can be enjoyable and well worth the effort to learn more about it and spend some time practicing.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: None.

Cons: Simply put, the espresso maker doesn't work. The release won't let water from the reservoir actually go into the machine, so it makes a terrible noise and then smokes (which was how we realized something was terribly wrong).

Other Thoughts: I called Kalorik customer support, and as soon as I gave the (rather nice) phone support guy the item serial number, he told me "return it. trust me, we've discontinued this model because of all the problems associated with it."

As someone who works with espresso machines daily, I was incredibly disappointed that Kalorik could come out with such a shabby product. Thankfully, Newegg did let me return it.

5 out of 5 eggscheapy + good espresso machine!

Pros: super cheap, makes decent espresso, with a serviceable crema; i almost always do double shots, either to drink as espresso, americano, or cappuccino.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: on the 1st week of owning the machine, i once made 5 shots of espresso. since this is the first espresso machine i ever owned, i had a bit of learning. but once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad. i've pulled single & double shots and they are all great :) for now i'm using lavazza in blu ground espresso. tamp the espresso with a bit of force, til level, and then twist. the included plastic measuring spoon/tamp isn't sexy, but gets the job done. i've heard some bad reviews of this machine--but what do you expect for something so cheap???? i am totally satisfied with the purchase, and if the machine does go poop within a year, i will have gotten good mileage out of it :)
