3 out of 5 eggsFailed after very little use...BUT

Pros: I think this unit probably performed as well as an 8000 BTU air conditioner can in a large room that I now know should have a larger one.

Cons: Quit cooling completely after almost NO use. I was appalled when I turned it on this year and it put out NO cool air. It was carefully handled and stored in my home in its original box, covered with a heavy cloth, just to be sure.

Other Thoughts: After I realized that it was no longer working, I called Frigidaire customer service. I VERY CALMLY explained the situation and said I was not at all happy with their product. I asked if the company could do anything to help me out, even though the unit was out of warranty. I was ECSTATIC when the agent came back and said, "We are going to replace your unit." I asked if it would be "reconditioned". She said, "No. It will be BRAND NEW, with a new 5 year warranty". I almost fell out of my chair.

How many companies these days would do this??? I give Frigidaire, the company, 10 eggs for their customer service! Also, the young woman with whom I spoke was FANTASTIC to deal with!! 10 eggs for her, as well!

To anyone who finds him/her-self in a similar situation with ANY company, FIRST: BE NICE! Whatever the problem is, it isn't the fault of the person with whom you are speaking. SECOND: If you need to be, after step one, ONLY be firm. THEN, if you feel the need, get angry. It probably won't do you any good, I KNOW how it is when you think you have been treated poorly. I've (seldom) gotten angry with these people, and I have just ended up feeling like a jerk.

2 out of 5 eggsStill Waiting.....

Pros: None

Cons: Been 3 days, the invoice says it has been shipped for 2 of those days. I have NOT received a shipping tracking number, or tracking email. Not to mention I live within 5 hours of the shipping facility... Very Disappointed with this order, and quite possibly will ask for a refund if I do not receive what was paid for, and the non compliance of buying agreement.

4 out of 5 eggsHappy with purchase

Pros: Very easy to setup/use. Remote had its own thermostat which was very nice. Filters were also easy to clean.

When it comes to price vs. value, this unit is worth it.

Cons: Like any window unit, it make decent noise when it spins up to high, but it easily tolerated. You could also hear the compressor kick on occasionally which created a slight bang. (Possible I did not have the unit mounted properly).

Other Thoughts: I used this to replace the old units that came with the house. It was a night and day difference (in a good way). It still doesn't compete with central air, but was very nice to have from May through September here in PA.

5 out of 5 eggsCrispy in N.C.

Pros: Cools a large semi insulated upstairs bedroom to a the crispy 73F I have set the thermostat at on 100F days.

Noise levels are quiet and even. No compressor vibrations.
Keeps my bedroom cold at night even on its lowest fan speed setting.
Temperature sensor in the remote is worth it's weight in Gold. This solves the constant compressor cycling my previous units would do as a window unit based thermostat senses temps from the the unit itself as well as being influenced from temps on the outside of the house.

Cons: I cannot think of a single one.

Other Thoughts: This replaces an LG unit that was SO loud that when the compressor came on it would vibrate the entire window frame. My old unit made such an ungodly noise it would either keep me up or wake me up in the mornings. The compressor used to cycle on and off every 10 to 30 seconds and I would have to change the temp settings depending on whether it was day or nighttime. This new unit with remote temp sensor does not have this issue.

I do not like those fold up window wings these units come with. They just do not seal properly. I mount my units in 3/4 inch premium plywood cut to fit the unit. The unit is caulked and wood attached with screws to the window opening to seal and support it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood A/C unit

Pros: Easy install.
Easy controls.
Economy mode works well - keeps noise and electric usage to a minimum.
Reasonably quiet.

Cons: was delivered on side - needed 2 hours before it could be turned on.
Remote is silly and unnecessary.

Other Thoughts: Its not rocket science - its an a/c for a reasonably large bedroom.

5 out of 5 eggsCOOL & QUIET

Pros: Arrived quickly and just in time for the heat! My second A/C unit from New Egg. Well packed and easy installation. Unit to me is very quiet. When the compressor engages there is little difference in sound. The unit easily cools a large room and the 10.7 EER is great on the wallet. Price was great!

Cons: First don't be fooled by the recommended window width as that is at the point where the unit sits on the inner-most part of the winow with the adjustable sides fully retracted. The actual unit itself extending through the window will easily fit any standard window. Second and very minor is the remote is not backlit and needs roomlight to be able to operate, but still a nice feature.

4 out of 5 eggsIt' :)

Pros: Does what it says. Much more quiet than my older model (3-4 years old).

This cools a 20x20 room nicely, and I sit in a field in direct sunlight for 14 hours a day in +100 days in Missouri. Conditioner coupled with other room units keeps house cool during the afternoon and cold at night.

Cons: Unit does not "freeze the sweat off my face" when I come in from outside work. It's likely that's saving me from having a stroke or "catching pneumonia" as my grandmother would say, but honestly I wouldn't mind it.

Other Thoughts: I like the unit. It was easier to install than other units, and much lighter. It seems to fit the window a little better as well.

Runs cool to cold in MO summer afternoon to evening. Economy settings appear to work great when coupled with the remote placed across the room.

5 out of 5 eggsWooooosh !

Pros: I use this AC in a room 12' x 15' and is Cools magnificently. Some reviewers complain when an AC isn't quiet and I can't quite understand what they expect. This air-conditioner is by no means quiet but it blows 36 [F] degree air like the dickens. Yes 36 degrees, I took the temperature of the air coming out if it and it makes the room COLD. I have never heard a silent Air-conditioner other than a Central Air unit or the window unit I had that died, which was sadly Very quiet.

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: If you're hot ~~ BUY it!
