1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Experience

Pros: None worth mentioning.

I bought the Frigidaire FAD704DWD dehumidifier from A in September largely based on the numerous positive reviews online. So I’m rather surprised and extremely disappointed to now be writing this 1 star review, which would frankly be zero stars if that was possible. The unit arrived in a damaged box that looked like it had already been opened and then stapled back together. The unit itself wasn’t visually damaged, so I set it up in our finished basement (with a hose to the drain) and let it do its thing. A few weeks to a month later, while it was running I could hear a very high pitched whine. It ultimately got to the point where it was audible and bothersome from all the way across the house. I stupidly didn’t jump right on it and return it to A before their 30 day window was up, so had to go the route of contacting Frigidaire. This was a many hours long nightmare on the phone just to get through to a human. When I finally did, the lady was helpful. I explained the problem, and she said that I would get a call back in the next day or two with instructions to take it to Lowe’s or somewhere like that to get it changed out. That was fine with me. So when I got the call back from Frigidaire/Electrolux I was dumbfounded by what I heard. This lady, who wasn’t polite at all, said that my request was denied as dehumidifiers are designed for hot and humid climates and are seasonal devices so they aren’t processing any claims during the “cold and dry winter months”. (I live in Indiana, and it definitely hasn’t been dry… or very cold in the time since I bought the unit, and it has never been operated outside of the guidelines set forth in the use & care manual.) I am truly stupefied by this response from Frigidaire/Electrolux. To me it smells of trying to keep warranty claims off the books until the New Year or something like that. This is a brand new dehumidifier that is clearly faulty and they won’t replace or repair it. Well, actually, she said that if I call back in the spring when it isn’t a “winter month” then they would re-consider the case, and I should just go by another one in the mean time. Really???!!!! This sort of customer service from a company as long-standing as Electrolux is beyond inexcusable. My family will never buy another Frigidaire-Electrolux product, ever! And in the mean time I’m still out $223 for something that doesn’t work. Don’t make the same mistake I made; go with another brand.

5 out of 5 eggsWater remover workhouse

Pros: Works better than I thought. I've never seen a workhorse like this before. If you're looking for water moisture removal, this will do it quickly. I've been fighting with a leaking basement and this removes moisture from the air very quickly. I've only had it a bit over a week and emptied it 6-7 times already. I plan on hooking it up to the gravity hose so it will remove moisture continually without me needing to dump it out. It's basically acted like an above ground sump pump.

I can't speak for it's reliability, but removing moisture so far it's performed outstanding.

It's worked so well it fills up it's 70 pint tank in less than a day.

Cons: Somewhat loud at full speed but thats to be expected.

5 out of 5 eggs"Tech Toy"???

Pros: Frigidaire.

Cons: 70 pints.

Other Thoughts: I'm sure this is a wonderful product, but really, Newegg, how is a dehumidifier considered a "Tech Toy"? Your advertising people are asleep at the wheel.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Dehumidifier and Purchase

Pros: Very efficient at removing moisture from the air, (south Florida in the summer). Quieter than other brands/ models used here, (the DWD Frigidaire series is supposed to be quieter by design). The fan setting on low also reduces noise -largely a 'white noise'. Digital controls operate a humidistat which allows the unit to be operated automatically to maintain a chosen % humidity. The unit can also be connected to a hose, (ordinary garden hose threaded hardware); and automatically drains through the connected hose. (A four foot drinking water quality RV hose works - short length and white color indoors). - The the 70 pint model is a good choice - same exterior dimensions as the 50 pint, slightly heavier but more efficient and on less often.
Thanks to Frigidaire for making a good product! And to Newegg for the availability and price.

Cons: Like other dehumidifiers, creates some heat exhaust and less, but some, noise. Can be hard to find for purchase.

Other Thoughts: The dehumidifier has a 15 amp requirement.
Fellows makes a 15amp 15' white/gray color extension cord. The cord can be secured along a baseboard with 3M Command 0.5lb hooks (removable). Also Belkin makes a one outlet 850 joules surge protector that is good for 15amps.
Don't forget to rinse and dry the washable filter... snapped in place just above the water collection con-tainer in the front. Keep the HUMIDITY LOWER than 65% for less mold and microbes in the indoor air. Also, leave enough humidity in the air for health.

1 out of 5 eggsAlways running, make room hot

Pros: I set the machine to 55%, the machine almost running all the time, only stop by one minute, and made my basement very warm.
My basement is full finished with carpet, I don't think is this kind wet

Cons: It work with noise, very noise

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent device! Takes a ton of moisture out of the air and even though warm air comes out, it's a "dry heat" and feels great. The air around me feels so much more comfortable when it's not super humid.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat - Review the product, NOT the customer support

Pros: Relatively quiet, works in colder air, removeable filter is great for pet fur and dust, controls are easy to use and convenient, screen tells you humidity of room, little bead on the front of the tank shows you how close it is to being full.

Cons: Its a bit bigger than my old one, but it condenses more water so that's to be expected.

Other Thoughts: If you are going to write a review, especially the first review for a product, you don't give it one star for the CUSTOMER SUPPORT. If you are going to say the customer support is bad, you say it in the other thoughts, and you don't let it influence the overall rating.

Google the model number of this and look at the reviews on (apparently i'm not allowed to say their names, but the biggest online retailer and the biggest retail supermarket). There are tons of good reviews with lots of detailed information.

I just got it, but my aunt has had an older version of this (features and specs are exactly the same, and model number is the same except for the letters at the end, as they are slightly different) for a couple years, and has had no problems with it and very good performance.
