2 out of 5 eggsLow Grade Product

Pros: Basically Functional

Cons: Tester difficult to use.
Crimper has no effective means removing cable sheath.
Ethernet connector is slightly damaged by the crimper

Other Thoughts: This is a pretty poor kit. Each year I go to one or more schools in other countries to help them create a computer classroom, build many cables, train some people in cable fabrication, and then leave the tools. Over time I have used 3 different tools and two testers. I would have used my preferred if it had been available f before my last trip but they were sold out. So I searched my default online supplier, Newegg, and found this one.

This has been the lowest quality tool so far. Yes, it does crimp correctly but when the tool crimps it also smashes the clip flat. With careful prying with a thin knife the clip could be extended again but with much weakened spring.

The tester worked bu it was difficult to use. It only showed pairs rather than individual and flashed through the four lights in less than two seconds. It was very hard to tell if all pairs were successful.
The best tools that I have found at a reasonable price are Eclipse Ratchedd crimper tool and "Pro's Kit" Multi-modular cable tester.
Consider this set only if you must get it in a hurry and cannot find anything else. It'll work but you won't be happy with it.

1 out of 5 eggsPoorly Made

Pros: None

Cons: Very poorly made crimper. Does not line up well. Most of the time will not push all the pins down and you are left with a cable that is half crimped. Does not work well, the tool its self is not aligned properly.

4 out of 5 eggsBest Crimpers Money Can Buy

Pros: Reliable (Bomb-Proof [I've checked])
Effective

Cons: More force to use
Have to buy a cable tester from Newegg

Other Thoughts: I've done quite a few installations in my day (USMC Network Tech), and this is by far the best crimper you can get. Or at least this style, the non-ratcheting tool will make solid connections repeatedly, forever. My pair was 12 years old, and worked till I lost them a few months ago. I'm buying this kit to get another pair.

These require more hand strength, that is the only caveat, not much more though as I've trained several newbies and they liked them after a short time. Pro-tip: remove the little stop (hex bolts) on the backside and you can reinsert the tip from the opposite direction to double crimp and ensure full connection.

The cable tester is mediocre at best. Still worth $30
