4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: -fully modular

-Downward-facing fan fit Cosmos II case perfectly

Cons: -got exactly what I expected.

Other Thoughts: For my build in the Cosmos II case the cooling fan fit perfectly, so I was able to face it downward, although this may be an issue of air flow in other cases, where facing toward the mobo (as per the instructions) might run into heat pollution from the mobo causing unnecessary PSU temps.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality

This review is from: SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Well made
Super quiet
Great performance

Cons: no map for plug locations
SATA plugs are upside-down

Other Thoughts: this replaced an old Ultra 1000 and the difference between the jet engine and almost silent is much appreciated! I started with and Antec 750 that was DOA and wound up with this after more research. This is a quality unit and appears to be well made. I don't care about hte packaging, wasted money in my view but I do appreciate stuff that works. I could have used a large diagram of the unit plug-ins to help during install and routing but managed to live without it. The only down side thus far is that the SATA plugs are upside down and require the routing to be twisted to install on correctly mounted drives. Again, I worked through it but this did make installation more difficult in tight places. Runs very quiet and I bought more watts than I need so it would run quiet. My only regret is that I waited too long before buying this!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Power Supply

This review is from: SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: -Efficient
-Stable
-Quiet; if not silent.
-Color scheme looks nice

Cons: -Somewhat larger than I expected, covers a tiny bit of grommet for cable management.

Other Thoughts: When I got this, the first thing I noticed was the weight. It is rather heavy, and very long, and even covered a bit of cable management grommets in my mid tower case [Fractal Design Define R4]. Otherwise, this PSU is near perfect, rock solid and quiet. In fact, I just plug and forget about it. It powers:{
-Intel i5 4670K @ 4.2 GHZ + EKWB WaterBlock
-2X R9 290@1175 MHZ in Crossfire + EKWB Block
-MSI MPower Z97
-16 GB DDR3 DRAM @ 1600MHZ
-2X D5 Laing Pumps
-360mm Radiator [Modded Case] and 2x 120 mm
-Case(Irrelevant) Mid ATX Fractal Design Define R4
}

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Power Supply for the Money

This review is from: SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: Quiet, Modular, Active PFC, 80 Plus Gold, stable power output. I can hear no discernible coil whine using this power supply near or at max power draw.

Cons: Cables are stiff at ends when trying to plug in multiple drives that are close to one another. Most would use custom connectors anyway.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure how some of the reviews are saying this is unstable or that it is not a single rail. Several review sites show and prove it is single. I have been running 2x Gigabyte SO 570's in SLI for over 2 years along with many components, and have had stable power the whole time. I recently upgraded to 2x EVGA 780 TI Kingpin's and they have been running fine as well for over a month.

Specifically, I'm running:

Xeon 1270v2
2 x EVGA 780Ti Kingpin's
Samsung SSD
4 x WD Black HD's
PCIx SB Card
4 x Kingston Memory Modules
2 x Blu-Ray Drives
4 x USB External HD's
and USB Gamer Keyboard/Mouse of course

If you run SLI or Crossfire and have less components that I do, then this 1050w Power Supply should run everything you have and more. If you have lots of components and want to OC, then you may want to look at the 1250w version of this power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsvery good psu

This review is from: SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: worked perfect out of the box.
plenty of cables.
supports 3way sli or crossfirex.

Cons: the 12v eps cable and motherboard cable need to be 3 inches longer for cases with inverted motherboards and psu that can go into the front of the case like the azza genesis 9000

5 out of 5 eggsBig but good

This review is from: SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: This thing has been rock solid. Went through a ton of tweaking my system finding stable OCs, and it never wavered. Outside of hard core reviewers who stress test and dismantle units (which this PSU got great ratings) I guess you only really know a power supply is no good if it fails, though. It hasn't, and all monitoring programs have shown very steady voltages throughout.

I liked that the lettering and fan grill were gold, as it fit the theme I was going for with an Asus Z87-Pro and the gold Corsair ram.

It's big, but thankfully fully modular, so not a nightmare to fit into a case or manage cords.

Cons: It's huge, so make sure your case can handle it.

The hybrid fan mode is a great idea, but I found in hybrid mode the fan was still almost always running. Not sure if it's a glitch/defect or that I have the psu turned upside down so it's taking air from inside the case that's a bit hotter, but I don't think I've seen the fan not running no matter which mode I'm in or how cool my system is.

The fan is pretty quiet, but there was a noticeable, audible difference between having the PSU upright pulling air outside where the fan was near the outside of the case, and having it flipped pulling air from inside. I flipped it anyway for aesthetics, but wouldn't have been happy with it mounted normally due to the noise that was easily the loudest part of my system while in 'silent' mode when case fans were off and only my cooler pump and cpu fan were running.

Not major cons, just things to note.

1 out of 5 eggs2 out of 2 seasonics ive bought in the past few months have been defective

This review is from: SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: One of the easiest ways of wasting $239.99!!!

Cons: This is my second review of a seasonic product and a second faulty product...

This is the second seasonic i purchased within the past few months and so far 2/2 were faulty out of the box (the other being the ss-860xp2). I was unable to test the products within a month for neweggs return policy so i couldn't return through them. I tried filing a rma with the actual company website and they failed to provide me with a return code to write on the box for which they gave me all other instruction as to mail it. Also WORST COMPANY SERVICE EVER. I still have not gotten through to them via email or phone call.

I will never buy a seasonic again because I have effectively thrown away $500. 2 psu's bought in a month, same company, non functioning right out of the box....

Manufacturer Response:

London S., Sorry to read that 2 different model PSUs both failied out of the box for you. How unfortunate to have this happen to a single person, it almost seems... unbelivable.... Please provide the serial numbers to us at newegg@seasonicusa.com and we will provide immediate support. Please also provide the e-mails you have sent to our company so we can trace what has happened. It seems interesting that both units were not used within the NewEgg replacemnt time period and in both instances strange that Sea Sonic USA did not provide any support.... how coincidental... Regardless, we wait for your e-mail over this matter. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I prefer the wrapped wires SeaSonic provides over the flat ribbon style cables some of the other companies use. They are more flexible and easier to organize in my opinion.

The cables are also a good length for me. Some power supplies come with cables that are way too long and they take up a lot of room in the case.

This P/S supports 3 separate PCIe connections (8 or 6 pin) . There is a lot of flexibility if you install multiple graphics cards.

The fan is quiet.

Cons: No issues so far.

Other Thoughts: The Power Supply itself it fairly large. I had to modify my case to install it. Every case is different of course but where my old 750 W supply could be pulled out or installed fairly easily, this one would not fit without making some modifications to widen the hole that the P/S had to slip through during the installation. Its not an issue once installed it just be able to maneuver it into place.

5 out of 5 eggsso much power!!!!

This review is from: SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: I got this psu as an overkill for my pc so i can get upgrades in the future. This psu is pure quality and very dependable. no problems with it on my end and im looking forward to my rebate >:).

Cons: I'm am pretty sure this is due to the tolerances when manufacturing but the power cable for the motherboard was an extremely tight fit for me which scared the living hell out of me using this for my first pc build. I had to use a lot more force than i am comfortable with so watch out.

Other Thoughts: SOOOOO MUCH POWER SOOOOO DEPENDABLE ITS BEAUTIFUL.

5 out of 5 eggsBomb-proof power supply

This review is from: SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Pros: It's been running 24/7 365 in a BOINC rig with 2 GTX780's and an FX-8350 with everything water cooled, it's been pulling down right around 850 - 900 watts at the wall, the GTX780's are pushing 1228MHz with the TDP at 104% - 106% for either GPU (won't be able to push them much higher without a custom VGA BIOS). These power supply's are well worth the investment and SeaSonic builds PSU's for Corsair and XFX just to name a couple (though they don't do the engineering for their competitors).

Cons: These reviews really have me baffled, they are identical for this PSU and the X1250, both PSU's have the same reviews, word for word, something's not right about that. I really wish Newegg wouldn't let non-purchasers leave reviews, a lot of them are fan-boys and trolls

Other Thoughts: I have an X1250 on the way, I'm going to use it with an FX-9590, 2 GTX780Ti's on an Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z (no bottleneck yet with the PCIe x16 2.0 with present WU's) with 32GB DDR-1866. I'll be using this at GPU-Grid and CPDN too (everything water cooled, of course). It will be interesting to see how well the X1250 holds up pushing all that juice 24/7 365 (yes, I'm fully aware of the electric bill). I just wish SeaSonic made some bigger PSU's, I have 4 rigs running BOINC ATM, 1 with an X750 and the other 2 with X850's. I've never had any issue's with any of my SeaSonic PSU's. Kyle Bennett over at [H]ardOCP I think is one of the toughest, most critical and hardest to please reviewers on the internet, he says it like it is and he gave this PSU high marks (I like JohnnyGURU too, kind of goofy but a through reviewer, also excellent marks.
