5 out of 5 eggsAwesome RAM, easy

Pros: Worked instantly right out of box
Great low profile RAM

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Used this in my ASUS Z97i Plus MoBo - was recognized immediately at the right speeds.

This was my first build - my biggest concern about RAM was having to rma or return a dead stick... I put my trust in G Skill based on a gut feeling and they haven't disappointed. Also had the best cas latency I could find for low profile RAM.

5 out of 5 eggsFast RAM :)

Pros: > Great timings.
> Gotta love a lifetime warranty. G. Skill also has good customer service.
> Looks great on an Asus M5A99X EVO Mobo.
> Using a coupon code I only paid $75!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Im a newb to PC building so it took me awhile to figure out how to set the timings. My Mobo was being stupid and running the sticks at all sorts of weird frequencies until I set specific parameters for the timings.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent Ram

Pros: I picked up a quad set of Corsair vengeance LP about a year ago on a new build with the same timings as these 2 of the 4 sticks were doa so I was stuck with 8g instead of 16. I've had issues with the timings on that memory from day 1 even with the good sticks. These I plugged in turned on XMP and good as gold. No fidling with timings, no googling odd settings or headaches. These just worked and thats all I need. I have another set of g-skill 1066 still running going on 5 years solid all I had to do with those was bump up the voltage. G-Skill just works and they work reliably I shoulda stayed with them instead of the Corsair I snagged.

Cons: None at all for G-Skill, they just work. These won't make my Corsair memory work?

3 out of 5 eggsNot as pleased as I had hoped to be

Pros: 1) G.Skill brand name.
2) 8-8-8-24 timings
3) 1.5v

Cons: First set worked like a charm. Enabled XMP and all times correctly set. System was stable as a rock (i7-2700k, Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3). Easily overclocked system to 4.5 with stock volts and minimal effort.

Ordered second set to increase memory to 16gigs to be able to run VM,s and that is where the problems started. Set the memory timings to SPD default in bios prior to installing second set, but system would blue screen on loading windows 7. After numerous attempt removed the original 2 sticks and tested with the 2 new ones. System worked perfectly again, even with XMP enabled and OC'd.

Noticed that the timings on the two sets were slightly different. 8-8-8-24-5-24-218-2t for the original set and 8-8-8-24-5-23-138-2t for the second set. Manually set the timings for the slightly less aggressive original set and am able to run fairly stable with all four sticks (16gigs), but the system doesn't feel right. It seems to have a slight hesitation at times, like a system that has been Overclocked a bit too much, but is still stable enough to pass stress tests.

G.Skill's support site FAQ states it's doesn't support mixing sets like this which I find troubling. I specifically ordered two 8gig sets of two 4gig sticks instead of a single 16gig set of 4x4g or 2x8g to have some redundancy. I've had more ram failures than anything else (other than hard drives) and didn't want to have my entire system down for 2 or 3 weeks by having to send ALL of the ram back for an RMA in case of a failure. I've never run into a problem mixing identical sets (same model number) like this in my 30+ years of computing and can't understand why G.Skill should be any different.

Other Thoughts: I just had to send a set of G.Skill Ripjaws back for RMA when one stick stopped working. This was in a production machine that had to be running every day so I couldn't have it down for 2 or 3 weeks. Luckily I had installed two identical 2x4g sets in that system so it is still up and running with 8 gigs while the other ram is being RMA'd. No way would I purchase a spare set of ram just for emergencies like this, especially at current prices (the Ripjaws were purchased when the price was less than half of what it is now). That's why one would get two sets to begin with, for redundancy.

Not sure what G.Skill is going to say about this, but I have a feeling it isn't going to be good. I only have a week to return the original set so I have to do something rather quickly, but none of the options are that appealing to me.

I had always used G.Skill ram in Gigabyte boards as they tended to have fewer issues, but I will have to rethink this for future purchases. I don't see any of the other ram manufactures taking this stance about not mixing identical sets.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

With high performance RAM, it is imperative to have a perfectly matching set for optimal performance. It is the same for every manufacturer that produces high speed memory, mixing different kits is not advised. If you must, you may need to increase timings or lower frequency to see if the two kits are capable of coinciding in the same computer. These problems can be avoided by using a single 16GB kit. At this point, contact the G.Skill RMA dept. and explain your problem. A solution can be provided so you have 16GB working smoothly in your system.

Thank you

Quality and customer service are our top priorities.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Using this on a MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 FM2 at rated speeds with no issues. Needed low profile RAM in order for the HDD to fit in the Rosewill FBM-02.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Excellent packaging from Newegg as usual. Was wrapped in large bubble wrap along with a DVD drive I ordered. I order from Newegg because they know how to package their stuff for brutal shipping through UPS/FexEx.
