5 out of 5 eggsOne heck of a value

Pros: 8 Phase CPU Power
SLI/CFX Support
Nice Robust Feature set
Excellent overclocking
Nice Heatsinks
Great Price for a Z97 Board with all this

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Honestly I could not find a complaint, I mean there are better boards you can get with more phases, different color schemes, or more supported GPU's but this one just knocks it out of the park with price, performance, and features. I highly recommend this board to anyone doing an gaming build but does not want to spend a fortune on a gaming grade motherboard. I can tell you for sure this will do everything you need including overclocking your chip to the max.

5 out of 5 eggsGood, for now

Pros: Everything on it has worked well for me.
Has an okay BIOS, you don't need to really change anything at the start unless you want to.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully it'll work for a while, until I can get a new computer 2 - 3 years from now.

2 out of 5 eggsI used to love MSI..not anymore

Pros: ITS BLUE! one of the VERY FEW black/blue color scheme z97 boards out there.

it used to work...

Cons: After doing an update with the MSI Live update.. it caused a problem in the bios that causes my computer to restart and not even boot up at times, even after clear cmos, flashed bios,re-install windows.... all that,it worked again for a few hours then BAM mid game in smite and it started restarting itself over and over again..not even booting into windows. now i have to dish out some more money on a new motherboard, going Asus or Asrock this time

Other Thoughts: i loved msi for the longest time... now i lost faith and going to a competitor.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Until MSI Live Update

Pros: Has a lot of option which include 3 way SLI, USB 3.0 ports, nice colors and overclocking capabilities.

Cons: Msi Live Update ruined my motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Everything was working great until I updated my bios through windows Msi Live Update. Now my computer turns on by itself after I completely shutdown the computer. Also it restarts after I ask it to shut down. I went through a week trying to figure out that it was from the bios update. I tried out a new psu, remove the front power case connectors to the board, re-flash my board, reinstall windows, etc. Doe not seem right for a software to ruin a brand new board. I dislike I have to RMA, pay for shipping and get a refurbished board after having it for less than two months.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,
Please do not hesitate to contact us directly by email at ususersupport@msi.com or by phone at 626.271.1004 M-F, 6AM to 6PM PST. We will be more than happy to assist you regarding any concern about or utility or RMA process. Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsEasy installation

Pros: I wont lie, I bought this MoBo because it's blue. But! This is really a great board. The Bios is very user friendly & over clocking your cpu with it is a breeze!

Cons: none!

4 out of 5 eggsGood mobo - check compatability

Pros: Decent board for the price. Layout isn't quite ideal for me. but it works. Bios is easy to use.

Cons: DIFFICULT TO FLASH BIOS!!! DO NOT USE THE M-FLASH IN THE BIOS.

Download live update from the MSI website, and update the bios that way using a USB flash drive. DO NOT USE M-FLASH! Just use liveupdate > it will tell you exactly what to do with the flash drive.

Nightmare with my Geforce 770 GTX. Kept crashing. Finally changed PCIe bus speed from auto to x16/x0/x0,
and somehow that fixed my crashing.

2 out of 5 eggsabout this mb

Pros: it works no problem, looks beautiful

Cons: bios layout idea is good but no advanced stuff, there is from no to little settings i can choose in overclocking for best overclocking you have to use ulitity in windows and if you use other OS you pretty mutch has no ability to OC
I WOULD NEVER CHOOSE THIS MOTHERBOARD AGAIN FOR FUTURE BUILDS i didnt tryed msi gaming series motherboards but i pretty mutch hate msi now i really dissatisfyed also verry BIG problem is M.2 ssd layout first slot is the only place i can put my gpu and heat from gpu heating m.2 ssd witch might leaded it into failure after 20 days of using it so now all my data is gone THX MSI !!!
also it has 3 system fan headers

PLEASE DONT BUY THIS MB BECAUSE THERE IS A BUNCH OF BETTER OPTIONS FOR THIS PRICE RANGE

Other Thoughts: PLEASE CHOOSE AN OTHER MOTHER BOARD DONT BUY IT BECAUSE BIOS UPDATE DIDNT HELPED UNFORTUNATELY

3 out of 5 eggsSatisfied Overall

Pros: Cheap. Runs my pair of R9 280x at x8 each. i7 4790k running at 4.8GHz.

Cons: The motherboard would not post. RMA'd it and the new one worked. HOWEVER, the sound didn't work and I had to buy a sound card. It was a cheap motherboard and I'm reasonably satisfied with it overall.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's good. But it could have been great

Pros: It's blue, so it went with the build. Let's just get the dumb part out of the way.
It supports Crossfire and SLI, has an insane amount of 3.0 ports as well as multiple 3.0 and 2.0 headers. Plenty of room, not too difficult of an install (though the case leads were a bit annoying compared to other motherboards). BIOS was pretty easy to navigate and flash.

Cons: OK so first things first, the entire reason I removed two eggs is the bloatware. I don't know how much Google pays companies like MSI to force Google Chrome (and more disgustingly, toolbar) on people, but I assume it's about... 8 cents. And that could have been passed onto the customer and I would have still bought it, and gave it five stars. But no, we have to double check that it's not "conveniently" checked to install alongside something like a driver. Companies that do this sicken me, and if this wasn't in every other respect a decent board for the price so far, I would have given it 5 eggs.

I suppose it's worth mentioning they didn't bother to include a case badge either.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I can't say I dislike too much about the board other than the ridiculous bloatware and lack of case badge, so it gets an average review from me.
