3 out of 5 eggsLooooooong boot time

Pros: It's a motherboard. It does motherboard things. It has a 1155 slot. Not much else that is special. All the other listed memory and PCI/PCIe slots

Cons: This motherboard was designed in the early days of UEFI, and has a bios with a GUI and network drivers(!). The bios options don't work particularly well, and the network drivers in it are a really worrisome security hole. In addition, it takes more time for this motherboard to reach GRUB than the rest of my boot cycle takes, sometimes in excess of 1 minute.

Other Thoughts: If you can get this cheap, it works, but if you can, you should go for a motherboard with a later version of UEFI that has a reputation for a fast boot time.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your feedback on this motherboard. Can you tell me more about the security issue with the network drivers? Drivers for the onboard LAN are loaded by the OS, not in the BIOS. Did you mean the Realtek PXE OptionROM message during POST? This can be disabled in UEF > Advanced > Onboard Devices Configuration > Realtek LAN Controller. For faster boot times, please try a basic hardware setup and disable onboard devices that are not used. Some Linux OS can boot faster than others: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/five-apps/the-five-fastest-booting-linux-distributions/1198 [Techrepublic.com]. 2 out of 5 eggscant stand it

Pros: ran my original config just fine but needed a LOT more out of it so went with an msi board, much better

Cons: no sli, awful overclocking options for a p67 which is just completely unacceptable, even for asus. slow boot past bios, it really slowed down my ssd, just the worst board

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

The P8P67 LE motherboard has support for AMD Quad-GPU CrossFireX but not SLI. For complete specs, please visit: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67_LE/#specifications.

Regarding overclocking, this motherboard enables you to make adustments to vCore, vCCIO, vDRAM, vPCH, BCLK/PEG, and comes with our ASUS C.P.R. We do have other P67 and Z77 based boards, as well as our ROG line that are great for overclocking. For a complete list of motherboards, please visit http://www.asus.com/motherboards.

Please try to remove all unnecessary cards or devices to decrease time in POST. If you have a SATA II or III SSD, try plugging in the SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports to give you the best performance.

Regards,
Benson

1 out of 5 eggsNo overclocking

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: It will overclock, but it wil not hold the overclock more than five minutes. The four phase VRM are totally inadequate. They overheat extremely and throttle the overclock back to 3.4 Ghz. It's a great board if you ain't gonna O.C. At least get the vannila P8P67 MB if you're gonna overclock. I did.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Transision Board

Pros: This is a nice board for those with any of the "legacy" devices hanging around (i.e., IDE optical/hard drives etc). Haven't had any problems w those that I've installed and is decently roomy

Cons: Is discontinued on the Egg as I type.

Other Thoughts: Just thought I'd put up a review of this even if it is discontinued. As noted, this does have a lot of connection options and I've had some customers that don't want to go full force into all new parts. This gives a good option and w the extra features will probably allow many of them to continue using this board for a number of years as they upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsGood overclockable board

Pros: Supports latest Intel CPUs, have tools and chips to support automatic overclock and power savings. I achieved 103MHz BCLK, and 4.841GHz on i5-2500K.

Cons: BIOS manual overclock options are tricky to figure out. Automatic overclock gives different results depending on runtime, but it is good if you are not into manual tinkering.

Other Thoughts: i5-2500K BIOS settings for those who interested:
PLL overvoltage - disabled
Load-line calibration - disabled
Spread spectrum - disabled
Speedstep - enabled
Multiplier - 16-33. Turbo multiplier-47.
VRAM voltage - 1.5V
VCCIO and PLLIO - 0.990V
CPU Power control - max 105W for 32sec, burst to 115W, 200A max current.

2 out of 5 eggsUSB issues

Pros: Worked for 8 months with no problems. Easy install. Price was reasonable and good quality.

Cons: About a month ago one of the USB ports came loose and unusable because it slides around. This normally wouldn't be a problem because there are other USB ports to use, however now my mouse and keyboard randomly decide to do whatever they want. The only way to get it to stop is to unplug both the mouse and keyboard and plug them back in. It does it every 20 minutes or sometimes once an hour if I'm lucky. I guess the USB port malfunction has cause the current going through the motherboard to mess up the rest of the USB ports. Now I'm annoyed.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed in this board

Pros: Had good features at a good price. Worked well for two weeks

Cons: When the back outlet cover was installed it made the board too wide and I had to force the screws into place. I could not get the screw just above the memory slots in place and had to leave it out. Without the back cover the board fit just right, but with the cover it was about 1.5 mm too wide.

The board quit working after two weeks. It would not boot up and did not recognize either the HDD or the CD drive. It is on its' way back to Newegg. Maybe the next one be better. I have another ASUS MB that is working fine so I'm going to take another chance.

5 out of 5 eggsAll I need

Pros: Works great! Asus is the only brand I have or ever will buy!

Cons: Does not have a place to hook up my USB 3 cord from my case, or at least that I could find. I really hate reaktek audio software that comes with it.
