Foxconn's A79A-S ATX motherboard delivers powerful computing and graphics. Based on AMD's 790FX and SB750 chipsets, it is ideal for the home or business user who relies on top video performance. Certified for Windows Vista, it supports AMD's AM2 Phenom multi-core processors as well as all other socket AM2 CPUs. Up to 8GB of DDR2 memory can be installed with dual channel support to power through complex operations and Hyper Transport 3.0 technology massively increases the CPU bandwidth at lower power levels for cooler operation.
Four PCI Express 2.0 slots support CrossfireX technology to deliver maximum horsepower to challenging graphics challenges. The results can be delivered via optical or coaxial outputs. Top-notch graphics require equally powerful audio, so the onboard Realtek ALC888SDD chipset delivers 8 channels of audio with support for DTS Connect and Dolby Digital Live along with the ability to split two different sound sources.
A FireWire and six USB 2.0 ports give you the flexibility to expand and enhance your system while the SATA and eSATA connectors let you achieve high-speed data transfers with no bottlenecks. Integrated Gigabit Ethernet LAN lets you connect to other systems on your network at broadband speeds.

A Very Nice Product
- Pros: 790fx platform/ SB750 for Phenom Overclocking. Good voltage support for cpu/memory. I'll throw a single 4870x2 on at some point, we'll see how well it talks with the board. No problems installing ddr2 1066 memory, board + cpu automatically lowered frequency to 400 (800) Timings were actually better than rated (5-5-5-15), I did have to change the voltage up to 2.1.
- Cons: None. I think the bad grammar and spelling in the bios/manual is kind of cute :-D.
- Other Thoughts: AMD 5400+ Black Edition @3.3ghz w/ Zalman 9500a. OCZ Platinum 4gb ddr2 1066 (5-5-5-15 @800). Corsair 750watt psu (x1 60amp 12v rail), x1900gt w/ Zalman fan, sinks on the memory @640core/720mem. Antec 900 w/ 4x Scythe Slipstreams, 1x Tricool Blue LED, The 200mm "beast" exhaust fan.

Older Bios
- Pros: Best Price/Performance ratio of AMD's Top chipset combination 790FX/SB750.
Great Multimedia capability with good signal to noise ratio.
- Cons: Foxconn may be the largest manufacturer, but they don't update their BIOS often Motherboard supports only current Processors at C1 stepping.

Dead CMOS Battery
- Pros: Cheap motherboard with many nice features.
- Cons: I put my computer together to find that nothing would happen after many hours of frustration i couldn't figure out why the board wasnt turning on. I finally decided to check the cmos battery and turns out that it was dead. What kind of a company ships out a mobo with a dead battery in the board.
Excellent board
- Pros: Let's see:
0- Excellent engineering.
1- Good performance (I upgraded from a Gigabyte 790GX. No other system parts replaced. No difference in performance).
2- Outstanding stability: up 24/7. Never a crash. Never a problem.
3- Unbelievable value. I mean, just compare to the other 790FX boards out there. I cannot believe anyone would pay so much for an Asus! (don't ask: terrible experience with them. Never seen a proper board from Asus, myself).
- Cons: 0- Well, the 16x PCIe slots seem too far apart. Might be a problem with CrossFire. I do not have CF myself, so I cannot be sure.
1- Some storage configurations lead to hangups on POST at "Checking NVRAM" message. It seems to be when both the SB750 and JMicron are in AHCI mode, in my case. But I read about and it seems to be caused by different things for others. If you run into this, don't RMA! Just fiddle with the settings until you find something acceptable. Should be fixable with a BIOS update, I think.
- Other Thoughts: Product description says 8GiB RAM supported. Ignore that. My board is purring with 16GiB of DDR2-800. Not an issue in sight, as I wrote above.
