5 out of 5 eggsAmazing video card

Pros: I've had this video card for over 2 years now and it is still working like a charm, not going over 75 Celsius even under the most extreme conditions. And stays cool at around 30-35 Celsius idle. Normal load is around 45 Celsius. The twin fans work like a charm.

The video card is still capable of keeping up with games like Batman Arkham City, Need for Speed shift 2, and any other games I through at it on mostly high -> very high settings at 1920 x 1080 resolution. It's getting a little old now, but I expect it to continue running games at decent quality settings for the next 3-4 years, which I also expect it to last that long or longer with it being extremely high quality.

Cons: After two full years of just about 24/7/365.25 (only restart with window updates), this video card has no cons to be listed by me.

Yeah it could use DX 11, but I was fully aware that the 200 series didn't have DX 11, and until DX 11 starts to become the new primary, I will stick with DX 10.

Other Thoughts: All these components have been running on my computer for the last two years except for what I specify:

- MSI N250GTS Twin Frozr 1 G Geforce GTS 250 256-bit GDDR3
- 8150 FX (only had for two months, previous processor I had for three years was the phenom II 940 black edition)
- SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" (Had for a year, still no bad sectors, previous hard drive was a Seagate with a load of problems and finally failed after about a year)
- GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard (had for about two months to use with the new bulldozer 8150 FX. Had the GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard for 3 years with the 940 black edition, both of which still work flawlessly in my backup build)
- G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (two months, with the rest of the new build. Old RAM was CORSAIR XMS2 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 for 3 years - still w

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Untill...

Pros: This card has worked great for over a year now, it was an easy install, the MSI Live Updater worked well, and no major problems with it at all. I highly recommend the card because its worked so well in my system. But all good things come to and end...

Cons: After about a year with this card, my computer began doing some strange things... half shutting down, wouldn't boot up, just a lot of strange things I kept blaming on the mobo, or my ram, which most of the issues were only temporary and after letting my comp sit for a day or so it would work again. Then it would only start half way, it would power up, but no boot, and half the fans would not run... so I began going through my computers parts looking for the problem, I did my graphics card last because I figured it was the most unlikely problem, but yet there the problem was... It seems that one of the fans on the bottom of the card had jammed! Two of the fan blades had bent into the chrome base plate of the card... causing the whole fan to jam up, then causing the whole card to overheat. I bent the blades off sense they were already broken, and only presented a danger to the card. I've decided to send the card back to MSI for a refund.

Other Thoughts: Its a great card, I just thing my problem was a one of a kind issue.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: Used this card to play Starcraft 2, Morrowind and Oblivion (with countless texture and other graphical mods to make them more up to date), The Sims 3, Fallout New Vegas, Bad Company 2, etc. at max settings and 1920x1080 on my 32" HDTV, and it handles them all flawlessly.

Runs very quietly, and to my knowledge I haven't experienced any heating issues

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I run this card with an i5-750 (stock speed, 2.66ghz) and 4GB of DDR3 RAM @1333mhz. Currently at 8 or 9 months of use

Make sure you have decent airflow for your case and you shouldn't have any heating issues

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: I've had this card for six months now, and it has been a great card. It plays everything I throw at it with no complaints. Used to run hot until I replaced the thermal grease with Arctic Silver. Now it idles at 38 deg C and never goes above 55 deg C.
I keep trying to convince myself that I need to upgrade to a 400 series card, but this one plays games so well, I really can't justify it. Yet.

Cons: The MSI logo on the bracket is up-side-down? That's just a nit-pick, though!

Other Thoughts: Games I've played on this card; Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 1&2, Crysis, WOW, Half Life 2, DDO, Warhammer-Age of Reconing, all at max settings.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Fast, Cool, Quiet

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Had to do some rethinking on my aftermarket south-bridge cooling as the massive heat sink went right over it. I would blame the motherboard maker, XFX, for putting the south-bridge so close to the primary PCI-Ex slot.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat entry level card.

Pros: Looks great. The fans are high powered and really do their jobs. Runs most games on ultra settings in 2xSLI. Included overclocking software does make it easy to do small mods.

Cons: No voltage control on this particular model makes it useless to get the software. I won't remove an egg for that, because there is an OC version. Not MSI's fault. At times, games will seize and I'll have to reboot, even without overclocking. It's still a GTS 250.

Other Thoughts: If you're going to run two in SLI, be aware that the performance increases may not be as dramatic as expected, especially if you're a first time user. Regardless, the card does have a good bit of power and can handle most of what you throw at it, but two in SLI still underperform compared to one 480 series card.

1 out of 5 eggsMSI N250GTS

Pros: Great looking device, it's like an entire computer on a card.

Cons: Blue Screen of death with Windows 7 64 bit, Asus N2mpV with AMD Phenom, updated software, Bios, tried everything, was not even able to tune the card out and overclock it due to the troubles. Returned to New Egg for refund.
