4 out of 5 eggsGreat for a average build and long lasting!

This review is from: Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W Continuous @40°C,80 PLUS BRONZE Certified, Single 12V Rail, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7,i5" Power Supply

Pros: Good build quality and has lasted over 3 years in my friends last build.

It's plenty of power for a single video card system!

Although it's not a modular power supply it is by far the best 12 v single rail I have seen for the cost!

Has all the needed cables as well as good quality plastic power lead plug ins!

Great low price for a above average power supply that's been running no-stop for over 3 years!

80% bronze and really, really affordable as well as reliable!

Cons: For my friends P.C. build with a single video card and only 1 SSD and 1 Western Digital mechanical hard drive.

He chose a Cool Master mid-tower and this power supply worked well with it.

That said if used in a full tower you will need a 8 Pin extension and maybe a 24 pin as well.

Once again not really a con for the price!

Other Thoughts: Although I was pushing a Corsair at my friend I gave him a parts list very close to my last build and he chose this power supply to save some money.

I thought it was a mistake and the P.S. would fail in a few months but I was wrong!

Rosewill power supplies have become very good over the last 3 years of so, so why pay so much extra money on a name brand power supply if you don't need to?

I bought a Corsair 750 non-modular 3 years back and it fired a expensive board, video card and a stick of Gskill ram.
I'm not positive the Corsair P.S. that caused all the damage but I can't take any chances until it's RMAed.

I tested it myself with a volt meter and it seems o.k. but I'm not taking any chances and sending it in for RMA to make double sure.

I think that even us Computer Techs can get stuck on a name brand P.S. that really not worth the price we pay!

This Rosewill is a solid performer and has shown really good longevity even when my friend was over-clocking his i5 2500k!

This would be a great choice for people using double power supplies for running 3 or 4 video cards!

4 out of 5 eggsOver 1 Year Later....

This review is from: Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W Continuous @40°C,80 PLUS BRONZE Certified, Single 12V Rail, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7,i5" Power Supply

Pros: The great:
1- 80 Plus Bronze
2- Plenty of connectors
3- All cabling meshed & adequate length for any case
4- 630 *continuous watts
5- Single +12v rail @ 50A
6- Sturdy housing
7- NO coil whine
8- Under heavy graphical load/CPU ocing PSU runs warm
9- Over 1 year heavy usage & still going strong

Cons: The Bad:
1- the *silent 120mm golf cooling fan began to sound like a baby rattler after less than 1 week's use (see other thoughts)
2- Not modular
3- Price fluctuates

Other Thoughts: Yes, the cooling fan began to rattle after less than 1 week's usage...like a baby rattler; however I had an Antec PSU fan lying around , so I opened the case breaking OEM seal (void warranty) and repaired it myself. After installing the Antec 120mm fan all has been bliss for over 1 year. Originally it powered an AMD FX-4100 oced to 4.4Ghz/core & a Gigabyte AMD/Radeon HD 7850 graphics card w/o issues. It is currently powering my HTPC and still going strong. I know all I had to do was RMA it (not from Newegg) & pay one way shipping/tracking/signature required fees to get a replacement...LOL equal to what I paid for the unit...no thank you! It is the common problem with 99% of PSU manufacturers' "warranties." FYI you should always use a surge protector/UPS that has AVR (automatic voltage regulation), so as to avoid premature PSU failures. I am so impressed with the unit I changed my previous rating of 3 eggs to four!

1 out of 5 eggsDied within 8 months

This review is from: Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W Continuous @40°C,80 PLUS BRONZE Certified, Single 12V Rail, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7,i5" Power Supply

Pros: It worked well and was quiet while it worked.

Cons: Reliability is bad. Died within 8 months with very little use. What else can I say? Bad power supply.

Other Thoughts: I won't buy Rosewill products anymore. They are built with llittle to no quality control and aren't worth the hassle.

1 out of 5 eggsRandom shutdowns

This review is from: Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W Continuous @40°C,80 PLUS BRONZE Certified, Single 12V Rail, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7,i5" Power Supply

Pros: Seems to be working initially...BUT

Cons: The power supply seems to be spiking and causing the system to shut down randomly. This happens especially when trying to game.

5 out of 5 eggsStable and long lasting

This review is from: Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W Continuous @40°C,80 PLUS BRONZE Certified, Single 12V Rail, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7,i5" Power Supply

Pros: Problem free performance for several years. Not too loud either.

Cons: None so far, although I never pushed the wattage rating on this thing.

Other Thoughts: I haven't really been pushing it that hard though. I only run an i7 920 (first generation i7) and a ATI Radeon HD 5770, which isn't power hungry either. That being said, it's been completely stable and problem free.

This review is from: Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W Continuous @40°C,80 PLUS BRONZE Certified, Single 12V Rail, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7,i5" Power Supply

Pros: Worked okay for a short bit...

Cons: ...basically died after 3 months of usage. IT would reboot my computer anytime I went into a game, I made sure it was the PSU before coming back to post this, and not insufficient wattage or anything like that, it was solely a faulty PSU after only three months.

I advise find another PSU.

Other Thoughts: Would have been happy if their support would have replaced it, but they won't at all. Very unpleasant company.
