4 out of 5 eggsMy first GPS

Pros: It's my first GPS. It sure beats mapquest. Easy to follow route.

Cons: Takes a little gettting used to. Doesn't work at my house. I had to program in another location as it doesn't get a signal at my house. I had to pick a location about a mile away as my starting point. To be fair, Cell phones don't work in my area either. A few of the routes are incorrect. Initial upload took a while.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat bang for the buck, better than average.

Pros: Windshield mount collapses flat, very easy to keep with the unit when it is put away. Large screen easier to see for everyone in the car. Can be angled on the fly to avoid visibility by back seat drivers. Accurately rotates quickly when traveling around corners or making turns. Easier to read turn signs with overhead road sign view. Integrated Traffic signal and power/charge cord is thinner than many older power-only cords. Can disable the motion safety feature (where most controls and remapping options are disabled while vehicle is in motion. Yeah!) No memory slot to collect dust or loose change (I've seen that happen, too). Very slim unit. Similar in size to a typical touch screen smart phone. You can record your own voice for turn directions. DOES NOT YELL "RECALCULATING!"

Cons: Hard to latch unit into mount with one hand. Do not plan on popping unit back on while driving. No audio out or Bluetooth audio option. No memory slot for expansion. Cannot drag the map around by touch and drag. Uses [+] and [-] to zoom map in and out, no two finger zoom.

Other Thoughts: Initial update took about 20 minutes, including software install, software update, map download and install. If it takes 1-2 hours to load the maps, then either you have a slow internet connection (map download is around 1.5 Gigs) or an older slower USB connection. Detachable window mount is easier to put on windshield and tighten when the unit is not in the ring. Software could be better, but it is usable. Make sure you have enough disk space, the software does not check for enough space before starting the download.

5 out of 5 eggsgood navigator

Pros: Works well from startup. I LOVE the LANE GUIDANCE feature. It REALLY HELPS when travelling in unfamiliar cities which I do often. The larger size keyboard is excellent for my stubby fingers. The larger size display is a lot easier to read. All in all a good navigator. I will try it in my Cessna 182 aircraft soon to see how it does in the sky. Has good brightness for daytime and good night time screen choices.

Cons: Not a con, but screen is almost too big, takes a little getting used to. Wish the newer cars had a better place to mount the thing, but then you wouldn't pay extra for the built in ones. I would like to see a radio/GPS/DVD combo to replace the stock car radio. Also Needs a memory chip socket. No excuse for this. Also could use an aviation software package, as this navigator is better than most Garmin super expensive aircraft GPS units. It does have questionable routing once in awhile, probably due to the map database. Misses a few one way streets sometimes, and can seem a little slow sometimes. I also like the user interface in the 130 model better. The XXL they changed the menus a bit and dumbed it down a bit= fewer choices.

Other Thoughts: For what it does, it is a great GPS. Garmins are overpriced. Tom Toms Work Better. I had a Tom Tom 130 that died after 30 days, and they replaced it QUICK. Excellent customer service. and the new one has had no problems in 2 years. I paid 125 for the XXl at Christmas sale, and wish I had bought 5 of them at that price, one for each car and truck. LANE GUIDANCE is the best part of the newer software. As ALWAYS NEWEGG ROCKS!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value - Great Performance

Pros: This is my third Tom-Tom and as usual, I'm very pleased with its performance and accuracy. I'm in sales and considered a road warrior and this unit had led me to many customers.

Cons: None noted

Other Thoughts: I like the ability to plot via Google Maps and send it to the TomTom but unfortunately TomTom/Google won't allow custom routes to be dragged and dropped into the TomTom, only the final destination point. Mathematically, TomTom may calculate the fastest/shortest route but it's not always the best route based on traffic patterns, detours, and time of travel.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Wide easily viewable screen, great voices, updateable

Cons: Trouble acquiring signal

Other Thoughts: Sometimes take longer than reasonable to acquire a signal which can be bothersome. Updates via computer take about 2-3 hours. Great screen view and voices (I use Homer Simpson)

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works great. I use this to get me from job site to job site. Never a problem.

Cons: Battery life sucks and sometimes it takes a while to aquire signal but neither are deal breakers.

2 out of 5 eggsBad Mount

Pros: Nice GPS

Cons: The suction (EasyMount) cup is worthless. Very hard to attach to wind shield unless you're a contortionist with very strong fingers and absolute tenacity.

Other Thoughts: I ended up having to buy a vent mount separately. Who ever thought up the mounting system for this GPS needs to be fired.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Large screen, lane guidance is nice, lifetime map updates (4 a year) is really nice. I has directed me to where I want to go with no problems at all. When it plans a route, it will ask if you want to avoid toll roads. The deal I got here at the Egg was great.

Cons: Does not shut off when I turn the ignition off in my car, but I am getting use to it.

Other Thoughts: I bought my wife a nuvi a few years ago, and I have grown tired of the "recalculating" sigh whenever I take a detour from the planned route.

1 out of 5 eggsNo More TomTom for me 3

Pros: Big Screen

Easy to Use

Good reception

Loud speaker

Cons: As of this review, the software won't run on my computer (win7), as well as many others' computers. Google "TOMTOMHOMERuntime.exe runtime error". So what good is the "Lifetime Updates" (more on that in a sec) when their junky software won't run?

No expansion (SD Card) slot. (whyyyy????)

Very low internal memory. Just 2GB.

Bad resolution. Pixels are huge on this device.

Somewhat ugly interface.

Other Thoughts: I was suckered into buying this because of the "Lifetime Maps", but if you read the agreement closely, it says the following:

"...Useful life means the period of time that this TomTom product is serviceable and/or supportable by TomTom, including but not limited to, this TomTom product having sufficient memory or software to accept updates to the original map data."

Now considering that this device has no SD slot and that it has only 2GB of internal memory, I can imagine that this device will lose serviceability VERY soon. Lifetime my grass.

Go with Garmin folks. Even their lowest end models have expandable memory, plus their hardware and software is superior to TomTom from my experience. This was the first and last TomTom product for me.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but dumbed down...

Pros: Huge screen, easy to use. Lifetime Maps.

Cons: Compared to my old TomTom One 130, it has been dumbed down to people that can't figure out electronics. I can't no longer fix POI(points of interest) by coordinates(I used Google Earth).

Other Thoughts: I love TomTom, I can't say nothing bad about other GPS since I haven't used them, but TomTom's are great.
