Worked at first...
- Pros: While it worked, it was great! was decently fast, and it held data. what else can you ask for from a jump drive?
- Cons: Well it feels cheap, and just recently the thing died on me. Wont format, Western Digital Drive Diagnostics gives errors on all scans then it reports to check the drive cable, AND it locks up explorer.exe on my system until i unplug it.
- Other Thoughts: It was great while it worked, and I got it from a local store for 20 bucks, but im sad to see it die so early. I plan on sticking with good ole PNY from now on for my jump drive needs.
Not as good as my 4GB version I had before
- Pros: It is very fast, great for using as boot device. 16GB drive of course. Slide in and out plug. Installs Windows 7 in only 10 minutes compared to 30 on DVDs
- Cons: Much flimsier feeling compared to my old 4GB to which this is replacing. Doesn't always get read properly. Only cosmetic damage on it but thats it, everything else is fine except that it even works under USB 1.1. This is tested and verified on 6 different computers and even on my Sony TV which I used this to updat the software, took a couple of tries. Reformatting to FAT32, NTFS, and EXT2 didn't help. I don't know where to start to see if this is replaceable.
- Other Thoughts: I loved my 4GB version of this, never had recognition problems or fallback to USB 1.1 on its own. After 2 months this started to happen. I had my 4GB edition from Christmas 2006 until September 2008 and it worked perfect. Sadly one day I leave it plugged in and to my suprise, I bump it and the USB end breaks off. The USB end stays in the slot while I'm holding the body. That was my worst nightmare come to life. Good thing I backup up the files to another drive just in case.
Excellent Buy
- Pros: 16GB, good brand
- Cons: none so far
- Other Thoughts: Buy this, you cannot go wrong. This is my 10+ drive. I buy new ones and keep giving away the older ones. The capacity is quite a lot, helps me move large files.
