Instantly create a Gigabit network with TRENDnet's TEG-S80G and instantly start saving money on operating costs.
The TEG-S80G features 8 ports for you to connect different devices to, however, TRENDnet distinguishes itself by being energy-conscious. When ports are empty, the switch will provide less power to those ports. The same is true when connected devices are powered off. Finally, the TEG-S80G also scales power depending on cable-length.
If you're looking for a fast solution to Gigabit networks and also want to save money, then there is no substitute for the TRENDnet TEG-S80G switch. Own it today!

Love it
-
- Pros: Probably one of the best network switches I have worked with. Setup was easy, just plug it in, plugin all your network devices along with your internet connection, and your on in seconds. It's that easy. All computers with GB LAN cards were able to connect at the rated speeds and the transfers were very fast. I also like the metal casing.
TRENDnet kept their word on the switch being green. I took a power reading of it which was just 1 Watt. Most of my other routers and switches use between 5 and 11 Watts.
Great product, highly recommended.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: The video shows the packaging, manual and the switch itself in action. It allows you to see it's size compared to a six inch ruler, also shows the size of the power adapter and the different colors for GB (green) and 100 Mbps connections (orange).
The perfect LAN nexus
- Pros: Worked perfectly out of the box, smaller than I expected, all-metal enclosure, and really does reduce power usage - tested with a kill-a-watt meter, my 100MBit, 4-port wifi LinkSys router uses 10+ Watts when idling, this Trendnet Green switch one only uses 1 Watt ! I feel confident leaving this plugged in 24/7, knowing it uses less power when active than a lot of my other devices use when in standby. I got this with the $15 mail-in rebate. I previously used a LinkSys wifi router but after moving to this switch, I only connect the router to the switch when I need WiFi in my home, and the switch turned out to be sufficient to run my 6+ computer home LAN.
- Cons: It is not the cheapest switch. But definitely worth it because of the 8-port capacity, sturdy compact design and the real power savings, in my opinion.
- Other Thoughts: If you're considering the 5 port, get the 8 port one instead - I thought I'd never need more than the 4 on my router, but I have this chained to my router and am using 6 ports already.
For those not sure about the difference between switches and routers: A switch only connects and performs no firewall, or internet-specific functions. Since I am using Windows XP's software "ICS" internet connection sharing, my internet server PC takes care of the internet and making it available to the rest of the LAN, so it's all done in software, and all other PCs on the switch are automatically (afprovided regardless of which plug goes where. This is in contrast to a router, which typically expects the "WAN" port to be the cable modem's ethernet connection, and the other computers to get their internet from that. Since I get internet form a USB modem connected to my server which performs ICS, I'd been using my router in 'dumb' switch mode anyway.

- Pros: I noticed an immediate performance improvement when this replaced my 10/100 switch. The old Linksys switch must have been going bad, because even though it is a lower speed model, I wasn't getting the throughput I should have.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: I've used DLink, Linksys, Netgear, Hawking Tech and Buffalo products. I started using and recommending Trendnet within the last two years. I've become a huge Trendnet fan. I always find them to be priced better and the quality is as good or better than some of the bgger name manufacturers.
Shuts Down Entire Network
- Pros: Good price.
- Cons: Every once in a while this switch does something that shuts down my entire network. As soon as I pull the power on it or pull the cable that connects it to the rest of my network, the traffic on the rest of my network starts flowing again. I ended up replacing it with the DLink green switch and have not had the problem occur again.
- Other Thoughts: I have many different switches from many different manufacturers. I've never seen a switch problem shut down the entire network before.
Outstanding Switch!
- Pros: 1. Cheapest unmanaged 8 port Gigabit switch on this market
2. Excellent performance 3. Space saving power connector
- Cons: None so far.
- Other Thoughts: Works great out of the box, Excellent unmanaged gigbit switch.

Highlights
 |
Gigabit Network Connectivity The TRENDnet TEG-S80G integrates 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet technology that provides a tenfold increase over 100M Fast Ethernet and a hundredfold increase over 10M Ethernet, to raise the speed and performance threshold for a converged network.
|
 |
Half/full-duplex Support With full-duplex support, the TRENDnet TEG-S80G works at a maximum 2000Mbps on each port (doubling the speed of normal half-duplex devices), and is also compatible with half-duplex mode.
|
 |
GREENnet Technology GREENnet is a TRENDnet switch-based technology that determines and supplies the appropriate amount of electrical power for each switching port as required by the connected device, by the port or by the length of the connected Ethernet cable. GREENnet technology can reduce power consumption by up to 70%.
