5 out of 5 eggsGreat tablet

Pros: Very sturdy construction, wireless works great, screen is beautiful, my gf loves it :)

Cons: Lenovo shut down their app shop, but google play store is much superior anyway.

5 out of 5 eggsBest at this price range

Pros: Has everything but HDMI and accelerator. Includes offline GPS. High end build.

Cons: Spontaneously reboots about once a day.

Other Thoughts: Compared head to head with Nook and Kindle Fire. A1 won hands down!

4 out of 5 eggsNice Tablet

Pros: Great price. I purchased this for my wife so i was looking for a tab with gingerbread because she is used to the galaxy S phone. It was very easy for her to pick up and use right away. Need I say more.

Cons: So far the only cons have been the touch screen it is not very sensitive around the edges of the tablet and the app screen scrolls up and down instead of side to side.

Other Thoughts: I would purchase this again.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Hand-held
Very portable
Great price
Good display

Cons: Not very responsive touchscreen
Sudden and seemingly random resets
Touchscreen occasionally completely loses function (see Other Thoughts)

Other Thoughts: Several times within the last few weeks of owning the tablet, if I press the power button to turn off the display, if I press the button again to turn it back on, the touchscreen is completely unresponsive. The first time, I was able to hard-reset the device, allowing it to restart and the touchscreen worked as normal again. However, now it won't even let me hard-reset the device. I press the power button, the display comes on, I hold the power button down, the power menu pops up (the touchscreen still doesn't work, meaning I cannot turn it off through this menu), then hold down the power button again and the display simply turns off again after about 4 seconds of holding down the power button. My only apparent option is to wait until the battery dies and let it turn off that way. I have searched for a solution through Lenovo, but haven't found any. Considering RMA'ing and getting a better tablet for a little more money.

4 out of 5 eggsIdeapad is a good idea.

Pros: good touch screen, decent display, responsive, finds hot spots quickly, 32gb expansion, placement of controls dead on, two cams, bluetooth good, GPS responsive.

Cons: OS is outdated, inferior resolution cams, no FM tuner, case could be thinner.

Other Thoughts: I changed the interface appearance with an app. There appears to be a chance Lenovo will offer ICS, but I am not depending on that. For the price, this is a fine device.

4 out of 5 eggsSleepy Ideapad

Pros: I am a new android user, but ios expert.
The android software an the A1 ideapad worked very well.
The A1 was very responsive to all commands. No choppy vids and did almost anything I need it to. Netflix looked great on the screen.

Cons: the 3 nav buttons were slow to react or would not react if the tablet was 'thinking' Frustrating pushing the back button and it not activating.
**After one week of great use and setting up the tablet I let it sleep overnight because it had a 70% charge and did not want to put it on a charger. The tablet went to sleep and would not wake up.**I've sent it back to Newegg for a replacement. -- I now understand that is a common problem of this tablet. All one has to do iis to hold the power button down for 60 seconds then tap power and it will wake up. I wish I had known that before I sent it back.
front camera is 1/3 meg and STINKS. rear camera is 3 meg and is OK.

Other Thoughts: Learning android was pretty easy. even though I'm an ios guy, i find this tablet very useable.
This tablet is worth buying, especially at the current 169.00 pricetag from Newegg.

3 out of 5 eggsNice tablet with one real problem

Pros: It's generally a nice little tablet. Lenovo installs some apps that I didn't want, but they're in the regular applications list so removing them was no trouble. Both cameras produce acceptable video, although they're not good enough to make this your primary camera for stills. Graphics performance is good-- I'm doing OpenGL development on it, displaying up to a couple thousand triangles at 30 frames per second.

Cons: The tablet has one serious problem: if it goes to sleep, and you wake it up by poking the "on" button, about half the time the touch screen stops working. The workaround seems to be to turn the device off properly by holding down the power button for about ten seconds, and then turning it on, and then waiting for it to do a full reboot. Not fun, and I would hate to have to explain the procedure to Dave in Accounting.

Also, the included manuals don't correctly describe most of the buttons, plugs and lights around the edge of the tablet, but I suspect that's less an issue with this PARTICULAR tablet, then with tablets in general...

Other Thoughts: For an individual, this tablet is a good deal. I wouldn't buy a bunch of them for an organization, because of the touch screen/reboot problem.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat buy

Pros: Decent battery life, bright screen, good graphics, decent performance. I bought this because I had some money fall in my lap and I couldn't decide between a tablet and a GPS. The included GPS antenna seemed like a good idea as well as the bluetooth antenna so I figured I would give it a try

Cons: 7" is too large to be small and too small to be super useful, but book reading and game playing is fine

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Two camera's, rear and front. Small form factor, making it easy to use. Solid build and feel. Simple interface.

Cons: Several, I have owned two of these now and had to return them both. I bought this for my wife and immediately she noticed the wifi was intermittent. The Ideapad A1 would drop signal every couple of minutes (my Vizio Vtab on the other hand does not do this).

We returned one because of this issue, but the second had the same problem. My wife chose to live with that and despite the connectivity issue she grew to love the device, she used it all the time. Then a few days ago the OS crashed, a quick review on lenovo forums reveals this is a common problem relating to the proprietary app's lenovo installs on the A1. The only real fix is to reset the device to factory default in which you lose all your settings, files, pics etc. There are other fixes listed on the forums but the only true fix is to reformat. This issue combined with the connection issue is a deal breaker. We are returning the second A1 and will purchase another device with the credit newegg has agreed to give us.

Other Thoughts: Newegg takes care of their customers. I am a long time egger and I love this site. I have purchased parts to build several systems, plus various other devices including the lenovo A1 and the Vizio Vtab (which is a great value, no issues whatsoever). Others may disagree but by my experience if you want to purchase quality computer components or other electronic gadgets and receive excellent customer support, choose Newegg.
