Pros: It's dead simple samba / cifs sharing

Cons: it does nothing else very well; if you're expecting DroboApps to support you or a sweet little linux box, you will be sad.

Other Thoughts: I have been running a home server with various kinds of disk for a few years now. I'm *really* used to being able to shell in and poke files and run jobs when I need to. This thing simply isn't capable. It doesn't even have a full user model that I could find - I had to SSH in as root. If you're used to running a linux install and expect this box to be similar, you will be super disappointed. Get a mini-itx linux box, put it in a tiny case, and run a proper distro.

As far as speed, i didn't really care ;) seemed fine to me for the limited things it did. (HINT: if it's slow, perhaps you mounted with an smb:// URL, and not a cifs:// URL?)

If all you want is your Drobo as an SMB share, it's a good buy.
