Excellent Price for a good AIO
Pros: Print/Copy and Scan quality is pretty good, having two paper trays is a bonus as it keeps me from having to swap between Photo and Plain paper 20 times a day. Buttons are easy to figure out and use, even for my techless Boss. Not the Fastest or Quietest machine but better than most.
Cons: The ink is expensive, if you use Genuine Canon you'll pay at least $50 for a set of 4, and I've paid as much as $60. which after the 3rd set of cartridges you've bought a new machine. Well at this price after 1 1/2 sets, We paid $ 189.99 for ours. Oh yeah and I've tried aftermarket cartridges and even refillables, and for some reason the cartridge head pictolation ratio doesn't come out right and the quality is lost in photo copies. While at home my Epson RX580 Hi Def Photo Pritner has had a CISS, (Continuous Ink Supply System) running thru it for 2 years now and it prints as good as or better than Wolf Camera's Photo Labs, it just doesn't have a FAX. So you can't try and get out cheap on the ink cost.
Other Thoughts: For the last 8 years I've been doing all the computer/printer maintenance for a "small" furniture company here in Charlotte, NC and we have 2 machines running at all times at each of our two locations. One being an AIO and the other one for office memos, invoices, flyers, etc. While over the years I've gone thru 12 different machines from the best on the market like Brothers, Epson, HP, Lexmark and Canon, I've recently hit on a good combination of a Pixma MX700 and a IP3000. While the little IP3000 is lightning fast at printing and has two paper feeds it not much on quality pics and its just a printer, the MX700 Prints great quality pics and copying and FAXing has never been easier. The only downside from the MX700, (besides the expensive ink) is while having a good scanner the lid won't come off which makes it hard for me to scan/copy pics out of a catalog. Bottom line : I'm ordering 2 of them right now, they'll be cheaper than the ONE I bought back in January.

DOA, waiting for replacement
Pros: Printer looks nice. Great NewEgg return policy and live chat.
Cons: Printer arrived, plugged it in and immediately received an ERROR 5010 on the LCD. Support website says it's a bad scanner.
Other Thoughts: Waiting for my replacement.

Great for Small Office/Home Network
Pros: Excellent dependability. Works well with networking. Confirmed working with XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Can send scanned documents as PDFs to system on network. Easy to setup on network. Good use/yield of ink. Buttons are straightforward. Separate CMYK cartridges (hard to find on an AIO). Excellent as a printer, excellent as a scanner, and excellent as a print device for a small network (ie home or small office).
Cons: Its "GUI" on its LCD screen is terrible; my HP had a far better menu system. However, while I do think the menu is important, the rest of this printer's capabilities negates it.
Other Thoughts: Haven't tested the fax, nor have I tried an actual "photo" print yet (on photo paper), but its print quality has been very good so far. Still have yet to replace the ink cartridges on this thing, so it seems to get pretty good yield.

USB CABLE NOT INCLUDED
Pros: don't know yet haven't tried it because of the missing cable... ridiculous that they sell it seperately
Cons: can't use it yet because it doesn't come with a cable. Will have to go out and get one and then figure out if this thing works.
Other Thoughts: Buying a printer without a USB cable is like getting a boat without the paddles. Useless. The printer itself my be great, I don't know yet. I guess it's my fault for not reading throughly and seeing that someone else had bought the USB cable along with their printer.

Canon MX700 - Plus & Minus
Pros: Original setup over network without problems. High quality printing, copying, scanning, etc. Cheap replacement ink cartridges (4 total). Nice interface with computer, including Navigator function.
Cons: Fax machine sometimes answers phone early, even though "phone priority" mode is set.
After a little more than a year, printer developed a misalignment that causes horizontal shift in printing in the portrait mode. Not too bad for text (although visible) but terrible for any graphics that include vertical lines.
Software alignment does not help. Nor does nozzle cleaning. When print carriage moves back and forth there is a clicking sound as if the drive belt is slipping.
Other Thoughts: I read of others with similar problem after a year or so of operation. Must be a design weakness of this machine.
After looking at alternatives, I decided to buy another MX700 at an attractive sale price with free shipping, hoping this next one will last longer than a year for me.

Delighted with this printer for the price
Pros: Handsome printer. Solidly built. Looks great in my office. Love the LCD display for intuitive instructions. Easy to install and use. Fast and good quality printing. I am really delighted with this purchase and NewEgg got it to me in just a couple of days -- no shipping cost!
Cons: Tried to get scanner to work with automatic document feeder -- couldn't figure out how. No time to research at this moment so I fed it by hand. So far that's the only thing that hasn't worked instantly. It was not difficult to set up but took me longer than I expected.
Other Thoughts: The real test will be how long the ink lasts and cost to replace cartridges.

won't print black and white
Pros: Once it works it works great. It is network ready as well.
Cons: Maybe just bad luck, mine does not print black and white. Did some research on Google and followed some instruction to clean up the print head. It worked well after that.

I was really impressed for a year , , ,
Pros: Does EVERYTHING except duplex copies, very fast, separate ink cartridges, great copy & print quality for the first year
Cons: Quite large and bulky, print quality sharply declined after ~1 year of use
Other Thoughts: I really loved this printer. It was like having an office copier in my home. However, after a year of normal use, the print heads became physically misaligned (not correctable using realignment utility) and all graphics printed very blurry. I was told that this could be fixed by Canon for $120, but the new Brother I bought cost less than that!

Great multifunction device
Pros: I was very pleasantly surprised with the whole package when it arrived. It took me maybe 30min to set everything up from the moment I unpacked it, through a very smooth and in detail explained easy to follow instruction and installation manual. Save for 1 problem (see cons) I didn't have any issues with the device. I have immediately tried printing some documents and photos and the quality and speed just left me stunned. The little screen on it is impressive and holds just enough info to let you know what's going on. The software included will help you with all your needs, including photo management/printing, OCR with the scanner and regular printing. Of course, you can opt not to install it and use your own programs which is a great plus (unlike some other vendors, yes I'm looking at you HP).
Cons: When I unpacked the device I realized some of the cables were missing (USB and/or LAN cable which are necessary to properly install/hook up the printer). This wasn't a problem for me since I just grabbed the cables from another printer I had and set everything up, but because of this -1 egg. Considering this was an unopened (new) package I probably should blame Canon for not putting those in and had I bothered to call support they probably would have mailed it to me.
Other Thoughts: The device is HUGE. I didn't quite expect it to be this big, but didn't mind the fact at all. I have had an HP printer before and boy am I glad I switched. I should also note that while officially this printer works only with Windows and Mac, you CAN set it up to work under linux, together with the scanner and fax (usb or through network). All in all this is a GREAT device and I will recommend it to everyone.

Pros: Simple to use..great software included...a joy to own!!
Cons: Speed...but that I can live with....If I really need speed...I'll get in my Porsche...
Other Thoughts: I found oem inks that work and have the necessary chip too! Very reasonable price also!

Great printer/scanner
Pros: The software works great. Document feed for scanning has worked flawlessly. I have not used it for printing photos', so no comment on that. Easy to change ink, the ink isn't super expensive and seems to last for a long time. For a small business, and for the price, this is an excellent printer.
Cons: The printer is a bit noisy. Has 2 paper feeds, have to remember to change feed.

Great all-in-one
Pros: prints, copies and scans well. I like having a rear paper feed.
Cons: I don't like having to switch paper source but that's just an annoyance.
Other Thoughts: This Canon was the best buy at the time for my needs and I bought it refurb from Newegg. I immediately found I liked it a lot. I was expecting a huge machine after reading other reviews, but it's footprint isn't all that bad and I like it's looks. Have had no problems.

Excellent All In One
Pros: Had it since May and still have not replaced an ink tank! I've used all the features and all have worked flawlessly. No paper jams. The print quality is great, even at the fastest setting which also happens to use the least ink. You're not getting better text without getting a laser printer. A true office workhorse.
Cons: A lot of people complain about having to put paper in the rear tray (only thin plain paper in the front unless you want a paper jam) and the lack of duplex printing. Manually turning over a stack of paper and clicking OK isn't that much of a problem for me.
Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research before selecting this printer. It replaced a Brother MFC that used way too much ink. The tanks in this printer are much larger than the newer ones Canon is using and you can refill these tanks. All you need is a chip resetter. Also I have found high quality compatibles by 4inkjets for only $7. Could not be more pleased with this one. I've been in printing/scanning/faxing/copying bliss.

Excellent scanner!
Pros: I was looking to "go paperless" by scanning in a bunch of old documents I had piling up throughout the house. I bought this mainly for the document feeder, but was presently surprised that the included software featured OCR (Optical Character Recognition). This allows me to select the text from the scanned document and paste it into Word. I wish our scanners at work did this! The PDF-creation features are really nice too. You can scan in a couple pages, generate a PDF, then add more pages to the PDF later. I don't print very often (that would defeat my inititive!), but when I do the ink looks very sharp on plain paper.
Cons: When scanning in a lot of documents (say, 40 pages or more), the document feeder slows down to a crawl to prevent overheating. But once you leave it cool down for a short while, it's back to full speed. Also, if you have a paper jam during full-duplex scanning, you need to start the entire job over.
Other Thoughts: Includes an ethernet port (no wireless, though) so you can network it with your router instead of connecting it to a computer. The built-in LCD helps a lot when navigating the different functions.

Planned Obsolence
Pros: Cheap All-In-One
Cons: Cheap.
The product lasted just beyond its warranty period and then the feed assembly broke. Error code 5700.
The software is terrible. The scan speed is slow. The ink runs out way too fast.
Other Thoughts: The product is designed to be cheap enough that when it breaks you are still likely to return and purchase another.

old faithful
Pros: my favorite features are the scan/print over LAN, and auto-document feeder for scanning/faxing, and the LCD display that swivels. This printer does a lot of things, and very well.
Cons: goes through ink fairly quickly, can sometimes take a few seconds to get going (so you're not always sure it's awake), install CD is pretty unfriendly especially when you're trying to set up printer-over-LAN. I also wish the install CD didn't take so long and that the scan software was a little more friendly, and the network scan utility was better.
Other Thoughts: this is the best multi-function print/scanner I've ever used, beats the competition hands down, especially for value. I recommend this printer to everyone I know. this thing has been an amazing workhorse. I don't use the PICTbridge feature but i use everything else. Awesome machine!

Excellent All-in-One
Pros: This thing sips ink. I don't really use it THAT heavily and mainly print documents but I've run two reams of paper through it so far and the ink level is still pretty high. Not a single jam from the back paper feeder (the only one I've used). This thing has come in so extremely handy. Being able to scan or copy documents from the auto document feeder is a huge improvement from the old one-sheet-at-a-time style scanners. If it broke tomorrow I'd buy another one.
It looks great. It's a little bulky but that's to be expected from a scanner/printer/copier. It looks great in my office so I'm not complaining.
The software is easy to install and use when running the printer from the network. Multiple computers connect with no issue and you can scan to a specific computer by selecting the target from the scanner.
Cons: The con with the scanner software is that the documents save in only two modes "huge" and "freaking gigantic". When I've needed to scan a quick 11 page document and email it to someone I usually have to re-PDF it. I print the cannon PDF file through a free third-party PDF print driver (PrimoPDF) and the doc shrinks down to an emailable size with a minimal loss of resolution.
Other Thoughts: Did I already mention that if it broke tomorrow I'd buy another one? My only regret is not buying it sooner! It's so convenient!

One annoying problem
Pros: Does everything you need it to do and does it well.
Cons: Took off an egg because if the ink cartridge isn't recognized for whatever reason the printer won't print. It tells you which one is not being recognized so I guess that saves you some time but I still had to buy a new cyan cartridge when the original one was about half full and now it works again. Pretty stupid that it won't even let you print in black and white.

Great Printer at a reasonable price.
Pros: Reliable high quality printing. This printer has been a joy to work with and is a good value for low volume settings. Scanner/copier provides a good image with true colors. I have used this printer to add a copy of my signature to several mailings and can't tell the difference between my genuine signature and the copy wiht a magnifying glass.
Cons: Expense of ink.
Other Thoughts: I have purchased and installed three of these printers. They are handy as a home or small office machine, and I have had no failures in any of the three. I would recommend this model to anyone unless they had high volume needs.

Great AIO for the price
Pros: This is a great AIO. All functions work great. Makes great looking fax, scans look like origional when printed. Have not tried photos, I use a photo printer for that. Or just go to a drug store and print them out.
Cons: I have not had much success in refilling ink. Not a super fast printer, but fast enough.
Other Thoughts: LOVE IT I'll always buy Canon's

Dead at 1 year + 15 days
Pros: EASY network setup and it's chock full of features.
Cons: Large footprint, somewhat slow printing.
Other Thoughts: Printing results in "Error 5100" on the LCD screen. Instructions are to power the machine off, then back on again. This clears the error, however it returns as soon as I attempt to print again. Not what I have come to expect from Canon products.

Nice value!
Pros: This printer has been a great buy for us. Fast printing. Good quality on reg printing paper. No ink marks like my old Epson printer. Scanner works great with both MAC and PC over my small network. If your looking for a middle ground printer, for printing 20-30 documents a day, this printer could be a good fit. Good ink economy! Even the starter Black Ink lasted for quite a while, although a full cart would have sweetened the deal! The ink is priced reasonably for the amount of printing I do per cart.
Cons: A few cons though, we have printed out a few test photos (on regular printing paper) and the colors look washed out, particularly the red. But not having tested it properly on photo paper, this may not be the case on the better stock. Also, it sometimes gets confused about where the loaded paper is, probably chalk this up to user error, but the auto paper detection seems a little off. The scanner could be considered a tad slow (not including warm up) but given its all in one, I think its acceptable. I also tend to scan at 300dpi and above so this is probably a non-issue for most people. One other problem I had was getting the printer to work properly on my Mac took some trial and error (Whoever says Macs are easier hasn't used a PC in a while!) but after reinstalling the software got it to work, and now it keeps working with the Mac getting confused only occasionally. PC always works though :)
Other Thoughts: My wife is a photography and I'm a graphic designer and we use this printer all the time for our business for printing contracts and pretty much anything we need. We got this one instead of the cheaper ones mainly so it will last and the quality. So far it has fit our needs perfectly. If I were going to be printing several hundred documents a day I might step up to the next Cannon but for my needs this is the winner.

Awesome
Pros: Super high text print quality for an inkjet - not quite laser quality, but as close as I've ever seen. Sturdy machine, no chintsy clips or easily broken appendages. Folds up pretty nicely when not in use. I bought it October 08 and so far no paper jams! Makes terrific copies both b/w and color. Good ink life. LOVE the separate color cartridges.
Cons: I found its scanning quality adequate but not up to the standards of its copy/print functions. Most noticeable when I scan receipts. Thin, black lines tend to wash out a bit.
Other Thoughts: Canon > all other inkjets. Seriously, I love this machine.

Eggcellent buy
Pros: Have bought 5 of these printers for family and friends. Beats every HP or Brother all in one that I have owned. Great price and shipping. Have never had any issues with any these Cannon PIXMAs. Plus NewEggs shipping. I always get a great rate on shipping. I seem to always get 2 day free shipping....no tax and great support from the Newegg staff!
Cons: Not any in over a year for mine and none on any of the others.
Other Thoughts: NEWEGG always is great.

Pros: *Excellent photo printing *Quick start time(~3 sec) *Photo dividing(see other thoughts) *Wireless printing
Cons: I'm not sure if this applies to everyone, but I personally have had trouble finding ink cartridges for this specific model.
Other Thoughts: This is one of the best printers I've owned. It does everything I need it to do. I'm usually scanning photos, and an extremely useful feature I noticed was that I can lay multiple photos on the platen glass and the printer wouldn't bunch them all together. It creates separate files for each photo.

Paper Feeder Problems
Pros: Solid Construction although kinda large, it seems to bee easy on ink which is a major plus. The price was right for the features that it has.
Cons: I have had various Paper Feeding problems with this thing, which started a couple of months after I started using it.
Other Thoughts: It would have got 5-Eggs if I didn't have constant problems with the paper feeds...

It just died
Pros: Was priced right, wait I guess not for only 30 days of use.
Cons: I just bought this printer 31 days ago and it just died 10 minutes ago. By "died" I mean there is nothing, no display, no noises no nothing. I tried unpluging waitng.... nothing. My guess is the internal power supply went bad.... they probably used cheap capacitors. Looks like Im out $140 bucks. I will try to call cannon but I dont have high hopes for that seeing as how just shipping this thing will be $40 1 way.
Other Thoughts: I will never by another cannon printer.

Everything I Wanted
Pros: Blazing fast scans and prints. Excellent quality prints and scans without sacrificing much speed. Hardware ease of use. 30 page (scanner/copier) document feeder. 2 way paper feeding allowing for 2 types of paper to be loaded at all times, and an easy button to switch trays. Easy setup. Seems to be a machine that will last.
Cons: Large footprint. Software bundle is overly complex and a little troublesome to use. Doesn't have duplex printing. Little on the noisy side, but there is a quiet feature I have not tested yet. Doesn't make my coffee, yet big enough that it might hold a pot or two.
Other Thoughts: I have wanted this machine for nearly 6 months and finally got it. I am NOT disappointed one bit. I have been leery of Multi-Functions for years as I've not seen one I've ever cared for. This machine can certainly be used for businesses. It seems very reliable as it has interesting cleaning functions I have not seen before. I have seen people say the Pixma MX700 has high ink consumption, but I have seen just the opposite. I have printed a 130 page document and at least 20 4x6 photos along with various other documents and the machine's readout and a personal visual check of the cartridges show I have not made a dent in the ink. My mother's Epson Stylus CX5000 would have already been begging for an ink tank change. I love this machine!

Pros: Good compact construction, network capable, good color and black and white printing quality, network scanning capability, decent fax. This is a good overall printer for the price.
Cons: Had it for just over one year, and for some reason it is dead, though it may have been due to a problem with the power supply. I replaced it with a laser printer. It prints heavy and goes through ink very quickly. If you do a lot of printing, consider another product.
Other Thoughts: This would have been a great product except for the excess ink usage and the fact that it died. I can't be certain that the malfunction was due to a product problem, though.

CANON PIXMA MX700
Pros: I don't usually buy factory reconditioned stuff but the price was so good I took a chance. I'm pleasently surprised, unit worked well out of the box with no print head issues others experienced.
I like the networking capability and the setup was very easy. Plug it into the network, setup one PC via USB and setup others over the network. Haven't really printed enough to see ink usage but it seems to print crisp, clear text and is very quick from click-to-paper time.
Scanner works well over the network as well. I have a second Canon 4400F unit that'll probably be relegated to a standby system. There are apparently two different scanning drivers, CANON MX700 & WIA-CANON MX700, and they produce different results. The former doesn't 'yellow' a page as much but doesn't offer the ADF feature. The second allows the ADF feature to work, which it does very well, but produces a more salmon colored background but only seems to do so on recycled paper.
Cons: Not really a con, yet. I haven't figured out the incoming fax issue. I don't do much faxing, in or out, and simply hooked up the existing phone line without a handset. I tried sending a couple of test faxes from faxzero.com but it never picked up even when I set it to fax only mode. Faxing is a low priority so I'll work on that some more.
Other Thoughts: Overall I'm very pleased with the unit so far. I have a couple of other inkjets (Epsons) that I use primarily for printing CD/DVD covers so I can now save that ink for that purpose.
As usual, Newegg was prompt in shipping and competitive in pricing!

Best I've Owned
Pros: Fantastic software Great Print Quality Fast enough Quiet Easy to use fax Easy to use scanner Auto feed is fantastic
Cons: One negative is that the buttons seem a little flimsy Only other negative is that I've had a couple of paper jams but not excessive
Other Thoughts: I use this printer on a Mac network and it has been an absolute breeze to use. They really get the software piece at Canon. I think of all the wasted time working with at least three HP printers and, well, at least now I'm glad I have this thing

Canon Qaulity
Pros: Canon has always been qaulity to me. Everything from printer's, camera's & photo prints. This all-in-one is Wonderful. All the features of the Copyer, printer, scanner & Fax worked great as soon as I connected her. She's hard lined to a computer with Vista Prem. Loaded on it. All other computers in my home differ with OS's. My laptops run XP-pro and my wifes D.T run's 64bit Vista. I like the connection processe of vista better then XP. Just seems easyer. The functions are great. Easy to use softwear. You get to pick and choise witch of the softwears you want to load from the CD. Response time of this all-in-one is fast in my eye's. As soon as I hit the print button on my computer, 1/10th to 1 sec. this copyer reacts. The networking response is any were between 1 to 3 sec. I think that's pritty good. Print quality is beautiful. Office paper or photo paper. Scanning, just great. Work's alot better then my old scanners. Easy set-up,,, Just READ your Insructions....
Cons: Not 'ONE' con of this product (YET)........
Other Thoughts: This All-in-One is Beautiful. Well built. Like I said; 'Easy to use. This is my first 'LCD' built-in screen. Love it. You can perform set-up from your computers softwear as well. First 'FAX' I never had a problem setting up. It read any area codes, location set-up No problem. 1 to 3 sec. for network printing; (if that's slow) then ppls should just hard-line to there comp.""PLEASE""...... Your saving's of $60 buck's with a purchace at $99.00. You can't go wrong for an ALL-in-One. Like I wrote above, CANON is qaulity to me. I've owed a HP & Lexmark. They don't compair. Easy to use panel. Large buttons. If your in the market for a All-in-One. Buy this puppy. She's a Beautiful Machine. Time will show indurance of this product. Really, at a price for $99, you can't go wrong. Stores in my area ( Chicago, IL) had lesser qaulity machine's at double the price. That's NEWEGG for ya. Thank You NewEgg for the speedy delivery. Very Happy with this Product... NewEgg, the only place to shop.

Better than the cheaper ones
Pros: For anywhere near the money I have not found anything as well made or that performs as well. I use mine a lot. The fax is a bit weird to get used to. I have run in to two faxes that would not receive- all the rest were fine. Took a bit to get used to the simplicity of the software. I am now the pdf king of my group. This machine is fine.
Cons: none

MX700
Pros: Nice print quality. Clean. So far works great. Scanner is great. Fax works as expected. I like all the options and features. Nicely priced.
Cons: Ink. Really disappointed with the chip that is needed on each ink well in order for printing to work. There is ink available, cheap, without the chip. You can fake the printer out, but only for so long. Ink with chip is more expensive. there are chip resetters available, but I haven't been able to reset a black chip yet. Color chips seam to reset ok, so far.
Other Thoughts: Do away with the chip and I think Canon would have another winning printer in my mind.

No Problems
Pros: Plesed with the network scanning software, I initally wanted scanned files to just be dropped to a folder, but I was still pleased with the bundled scanning software, very intuitive. Memory card reader mapped as a network drive with no problems. Oh and of couse, network printing works too.
Cons: I was not able to set up the network printer thru control pannel, I was required to use the software, but it was not as bad as I expected.
Other Thoughts: You probably want to set a static IP address for it, so DHCP dosen't keep changing it on you, and thus disabling network functions.

Great networked AIO but not without its flaws
Pros: Nice print quality, multi-color cartridges, network ready, ADF, great canon quality and design.
Cons: Manual Duplexing on a network printer = FAIL. High priced chipped ink cartridges are a hassle (unless you buy a chip resetter and refill for a fraction of the price) Made annoying squeeking sounds for the first hundred or so pages. Takes a bit longer for network print jobs to print.
Other Thoughts: Owned three canons, i860, ip3000, mx700, all still working like champs. Canon makes quality stuff.

Best inkjet EVER
Pros: Has: *Fax *Scanner (feed through and flatbed) *two tray paper feed *network connection
Cons: *sometimes the fax picks up when I'm on the phone *wireless network setup isn't as straight forward as it could be (i.e. have to download the right client for your PC or Mac from Canon's website.)
Other Thoughts: I love that it will work on my network. I plug it into my wireless router and it connects to my 2 laptops and mac mini over a wireless connection. I can print and scan documents to my computers without a hard connection. For $100 this can't be beat. I've had this setup for over a year now and only had minor problems. (i.e. a couple of scans wouldn't go through, but 95% of them do.)

A-OK
Pros: Easy setup and installation of software. Quality of text is great- good for resume's or other business applications- near laser quality. Easy to use all funtions.
Cons: My previous printer was a laser and this is my first inkjet. It seems a little louder and it shakes my stand a little. I am told this is normal for an inkject
Other Thoughts: Highly recommended

Solid so far
Pros: Does what it's supposed to: excellent quality for my uses. I haven't tried photo printing, but regular printing is fine and photo scan quality is impressive. Software easy to use with some handy features included. Easy to set up once installed (see cons for installation). Consumer Reports rates various Canon models high and estimates cost per print at the lower than most competitors. Manual duplexing to save paper is very easy. Got it on sale for $90 shipped and, at that price, it's a great bargain; at regular price still a good choice.
Cons: Installation for network requires a USB cable, which is not included; once setup is complete and a wired Ethernet connection in place, you don't need the USB cable. Rather annoying, but I already had the cable. (If you don't, see if you can borrow one for setup -- you only need it for 10 minutes.) Furthermore, the installation process is a bit confusing, but it only happens once....
Other Thoughts: Others have commented on the size: it is large, but not much larger than some other MF printers. They seem to come in two sizes: compact little boxes that fit nicely on a desktop and honkin' big machines with dual paper trays and lots of controls. The MX700 is one of the latter! Mine sits on top of a file cabinet next to my desk where there is plenty of room.

Good deal for the price
Pros: Printing for work and family pictures have turned out great. Scanning and copying was easy. The software is easy to follow and helpful.
Cons: If you have the front tray and back tray open at the same time, it takes up a bit of room on the desk.

Pros: 2nd one I have purchased from Newegg. This one is for my girl as mine has done everything for my home office. I was a HP addict for over 10 years and finally got fed up with the printers not recognizing ink cartridges. Downloaded every driver for the HP's and still would get either poor print quality or the printer would not recognize the cartridges. The Cannon Pixma series has not let me down yet. One of the quickest multi's on the market. From documents to pictures high quality printing. Scanner works like the bigger high end ones that cost way too much. For home, home office or small business great buy.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Have gotten more documents (better DPI) off of the Cannon cartridges than the HP. Newegg shipping price for this item is very low for 3 day UPS. Their competetion wanted $20 more for the same 3 day and their price was $5 less. Newegg supports their customers.

Great Canon All-in-one printer
Pros: Prints and copies fast and the quality of printed documents is great. Scan quality is good but I find the scanning time slow. Even though I would like faster scanning and a duplexer I gave 5 eggs since I got it for ninety bucks shipped.
Cons: Slow scanning speed. A bit on the large size It does not have a duplexer
Other Thoughts: I has a Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) good to scan legal documents, LCD, PictBridge port, memory card reader and two paper trays.

Pros: Great picture quality on photo paper, looks just like on screen. Fast printing in black. ADF is a great feature. Great scans. Really easy to network. Makes great copies quickly, especially with the ADF.
Cons: Sometimes takes a little while to get the first page out, other than that, none that I have found. Haven't tried the fax yet.
Other Thoughts: NewEgg is awesome! Great fast shipping as always and the best prices anywhere! You guys rock! I'm gonna get a Canon A1000IS to go with this from you guys

Newegg delivers!!
Pros: Item was in perfect condition when it arrived and easy to setup. I still need to try out the networking feature but everything I have tried seems to work good so far.
Cons: Scanner is loud but small price to pay for all this in one machine!
Other Thoughts: Newegg got this out same day and I had it within 3 days standard shipping. I have yet to use the photo options or color copier but based on what I have seen thus far I believe I will be more then satisfied. **You will need a USB cable, no big deal for a machine with this many features and this price having to get my own cable was a small price to pay!

Good Replacement
Pros: *Color LCD *Auto document feeder *3 separate color cartridges *Color print speed
Cons: May take a few seconds before it actually prints or does its job.
Other Thoughts: Bought it as a replacement for my Lexmark X83. The 3 color cartridges are really cost effective. This printer works well with Windows XP. I bought this because there was a Christmas promotion and it was rated #1 in PCWorld.

Pros: Works, prints great photos, the document feeder is nice for faxing.
Cons: Automatically turns off after ~6 hours, networking feature did not automatically configure correctly.
Other Thoughts: To fix get it working in windows: Once you have it installed and working on the USB port go to the properties page of the printer. 1) Select the "Ports" tab. 2) Select "Add Port". 3) Select "Canon BJNP Port". 4) Select "New Port". 5) Fill in the IP Address of your printer and select "Next".
Make sure that the Port is checked back in the properties page and select "Apply" and your done. Do a test print and your printer should work on your network. You may still need to fix the settings on your firewall or router to allow access if it does not print.

Great features
Pros: Great features. 2 different paper feed trays are a plus. I love the automatic document feeder(ADF) which was one of the main requirements I was looking for in an all-in-one printer. Nice being able to put one or several papers in there rather than having to place them one by one on the glass.
Cons: Only con I've noticed so far is that it does take awhile to warm up. But for me it's not a big deal.
Other Thoughts: Overall this is a great unit. Got it at the newegg sale price of $99 and for that price it can't be beat.

Cannon Pixma MX700
Pros: I don’t do a lot of printing and in the past I have had printers that would seem that the ink dried up because of not enough use. I was sick of paying for the ink which cost as much as the printers. I have not had any problems with the MX700. It has been great and you can replace individual colors not just the color or the black. It has been very handy.
Cons: None so far.

Nice Canon Printer
Pros: Print, Copy, Scan, Fax with 33,6 Modem. Separate ink tanks. Replaceable print head. Like other reviews state, good construction, decent size buttons. Great software & drivers! Built in network card for LAN install. Can feed paper from both front and back trays. LCD screen a nice feature for my poorly lit home office.
Cons: Printing can be a little slow to start for 1st print run. Same for copying. Seems to pick up speed after that.
Other Thoughts: Great printer at an excellent price. I've had HP's almost exclusively for years. Nice machines but their bloated software and bad drivers are a nightmare! Not only is the print quality excellent on the MX700, (that's why you buy a good printer, right?) the software and drivers work well. Have them installed on 3 laptops and 2 PCs on my home network and all worked flawlessly. I'm sold on Canon now. As usual, NewEgg Rocks!

Fast. Quiet. Works.
Pros: Fully featured. Has everything a home user could need or want. Cartridges are reasonably priced. Has an uncluttered control panel with a really nice small LCD info display.
Cons: Software is strange-- but it works. Online manual wasn't very helpful for getting printer on my home network.
Other Thoughts: Found a more comprehensive PDF on Canon's web site. When installing, you should ALWAY perform the network install along with USB install, otherwise you'll end up installing twice.

Very nice printer
Pros: Great printer, easy to use once you get used to the buttons. Packaged software nice as well. Have used it for several months now without one problem or jam which is pretty rare. Will buy a Canon again without a doubt.
Cons: It isn't wireless. Make sure you buy a long enough usb data cable.

Disappointed
Pros: Nice Styling, good price, decent printout quality. This is my second Canon printer, I upgraded from the MX310 to this unit even though the MX310 worked well, other than it seemed to use a lot of ink!
Cons: The front paper feeder worked exactly One Time! Now it will not Pull paper from the front cartridge, even when I force the settings To pull from the front paper feeder, no go.
Other Thoughts: It was nice to have the front paper feeder option considering the fact that I have a shelve above this printer, which makes it difficult to load paper from the rear feeder slot. Also note that I had an error message when I installed the printer driver and software package, which caused me to re-install everything…

Poor Quality Control
Pros: Cheap, reputable brand (at least I thought)
Cons: Two prints and dead
Other Thoughts: When I removed this printer from it's packaging bag, I got my first glimpse into how my experience was going to be. There was a spring laying in the bottom of the bag. Closer examination of the printer and the rear feed tray was not installed completely. A loose guide was laying in the front tray. After I finished assembly, I got two prints out before an error code. Called Canon and they said my best bet would be to return the product. Newegg promptly furhished an RMA, but unfortuanetly it will cost me 30% of what I paid for the printer, to return it. I am sure I just received a lemon, but Canon needs to do a better job than this to win me back. I think when the product has clearly been shipped with a manufacturing issue, the customer should not be stuck paying return shipping costs. Punch in the gut for Canon and a black eye for Newegg.

Exceptional Value
Pros: Document feeder Scanning Fast print Network enabled
Cons: -none identified
Other Thoughts: This printer is a great value. As a multifunction device it does everything quite well. Multiple page scans have worked flawlessly. Printing is fast (though slight delay upon initialization). Color print is decent and B&W excellent, fast especially with lower quality settings.
One other note, I did not install the Canon software just drivers. Vista 64 adds the printer and scanning devices without a problem (I suspect it picks up fax as a telephony device as well but have not checked).
Enjoy this great deal

Best of the Crop!
Pros: Canon still the right name! A very good machine, setup not the easiest but certainly no challenge. Machine looks and feels nice, even to the shock absorber drop-down of the top unit. Print quality as good as it comes. This is my 3rd Canon printer, first was an S-9000 wide capacity which I still use for CAD work.
Cons: Haven't confronted hook-up of fax and ans machine on same line yet, and the instruction manual leaves something to be desired, but I'll get through it sooner or later. Detailed setup not as easy as it could be.
Other Thoughts: An excellent buy, one of the best.

Networked Easily To Linksys Router WRT54GL
Pros: Connected to Linksys Router with no problems; You can put the paper in underneath or from the back.
Cons: It's very wide. The whole top has to lift up to scan.
Other Thoughts: It's almost cheaper to buy a new printer than buy new ink. Something's wrong there. That's not sustainable.

Nice Printer
Pros: Super printer for all around use. I had a little difficulty setting this up for network, but that was my wrestling with a router firewall. Once I overcame some settings, voilla'. The printer seems to work really well. It is easy to use, and the included software seems very sufficient. What I like is the separate cartridges for each color. No wasted ink. Also, some net searching shows that the cartridges can be easily refilled and reset, allowing the printer to realize very cost effective printing.
Cons: NONE... great value for what I paid.
Other Thoughts: So many printers eat you alive feeding them supplies. This printer, refilled or not, is a very efficient and cost-effective solution to most printing needs. Two thumbs up!

Good Canon Quality
Pros: Great printing and features. I got it on sale for 99 bucks but it is a good bargain even now.
Cons: Very complicated to set up compared to my HP 722c of 15 plus years. You have to manually turn it on before it will print from computer. HP has been doing that for years. After one month the front feed stopped working. But Canon tech was easy to work with and sent me another one and all I had to do was send the old one back in the box with free shipping. Works great thus far.
Other Thoughts: I have not had any problem with slow printing. Would recommend this.

Good choice
Pros: good price, all-in one (everything you need in one machine), good print/scan quality, fast, fairly easy to set up and install
Cons: a bit bulky, two paper trays (front and rear), not so easy to use/understand how everything works at first (give it some time!)

Fantastic
Pros: I love this thing. It's quality is very good, and it's copy times for both paper and scanner is quite fast.
The printer collapses it's trays easily and makes it easy to move if needed, and looks great on any surface anywhere.
Printer is extremely user friendly, you only need the manual just to get it up and running it's first time correctly and to get the ink installed correctly.
The ink cartrages last a decent amount of time, and in the machine they light up. They blink when the ink is low, as well as showing the amount of ink remaining on the LCD screen and any computer with the software installed.
I'm not one to install software much, but the software is fantastic and worth it.
The scanner quality is pretty good considering the price on this thing.
Finally, allows for easy printer networking right on the LCD.
I am happy with this printer, and if needed I would purchase it again.
PS: Comes with the first supply of ink free of course :)
Cons: I have No Complaints so far; the printer is very user friendly, fast, efficient, and good quality. :)
Other Thoughts: I only used the fax on this so far twice, so far so good. I got a fax I needed and my employer got a fax I sent them. No complaints on it so far.

Pros: Easy to install and use. Text and photos are crisp with good color rendition.
Cons: Not an unreasonable footprint but due to paper feed from the back requires a fair amount of space.
Other Thoughts: For the price and functionality, I feel this device does a pretty fair job and am glad that I bought it.

I love it.
Pros: Fairly fast prints, panel to print/copy without turning on pc, good quality printing, two areas to store paper (front and back trays).
Cons: Was kind of hard to find all 4 ink in stores, not a huge deal, but the paper jams every once in a while from the front.
Other Thoughts: I've had mine for a few months now, and finally ran out of ink while I was printing out my Christmas cards and pictures. The ink lasted a long time. I've had some in the past that suck the ink pretty fast. This machine, by far, has been my favorite all in one. The only thing was that when I was right in the middle of printing my x-mas cards I ran out of ink, so I had to get to a store to get some more. I went to 3 stores. I finally got the color carts at the 3rd store, but I couldn't find a black cart that matched. I will have to wait and buy that one online I guess.

So far so good
Pros: Looks great, 5-in-1, fast, easy to install ink head and cartridges. Set up was a breeze (even with my Vista 64 Gateway system) Display panel is self-explanatory and so far so good with all working parts, copy, scanner, fax, etc... Newegg shipping extremely efficient!
Cons: Two minor negatives. Wish that LCD screen would pan side to side to see at different angles. (only tilts up and down) Other negative, if applicable, is its footprint. Luckily I have a larger desk but be aware of how much space the MX-700 utilizes.
Other Thoughts: A relative newcomer to newegg and I'm impressed. Don't think you can go wrong with this Canon!

Good Printer
Pros: Great Printer, Uses 4 cartridges. Stingy on ink usage. I can print a lot more than the epson i used to own. Has ethernet port great for networking. Works well with vista x64; nothing else does. It just works. Scanner is decent great for multiple documents. Software is easy to use and install.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Could be smaller. the thing is huge.

The best
Pros: Self-explanatory, intuitive Like the instruction window
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: We needed this mostly for the fax and copier, since we have a picture printer. My sister had an HP all-in-one with a few problems. My mother had an HP all-in-one which she had to return to an office store and still has problems with the new one. We had used hers when needed, but now needed one for my husband's work. He has been so much happier with this one than my mother's. We've used it for months now, with no glitches. Also prints great pictures, so we hardly ever hook up to the old photo printer now.
Newegg had a great price and delivery was almost immediate. We couldn't have been more pleased.

Can't beat it!
Pros: Fast and high quality
Cons: kinda bulky LCD screen doesn't turn left and right (only up and down).
Other Thoughts: I couldn't get it to work on my network. But I am positive that it is the software i am using Network magic.

Fantastic
Pros: Cheap. Separate ink tanks. Cartridges easily refillable using 3rd party means. Easy networking. Good print quality. Feeder tray. LCD panel.
Cons: Occasional lag in processing print job - you might sometimes have to wait for 20 seconds for it to kick in.
Other Thoughts: I used to be a dedicated HP fan, but this printer looked great, at a better price point than competing models. I bought it and am VERY happy I did.
Haven't tested printing on highest quality yet.
Why pay more for a printer with built in wifi when you can get one with built-in networking and hook it up to a wireless router?

A Nice All-In-One
Pros: This unit replaced an HP Deskjet 4135 all-in-one unit, which was nice, but very basic in features compared to the Canon (of course it was about half the price as well.) The MX700 has lots of features, print, scan, fax, auto document feeder LCD screen, network jack & card slot. Individual ink tanks are a plus, along with the LEDs that let you know each tank is installed properly. The bundled software is also good, especially OmniPage SE. Previews and scans are very quick & the scanning software has a lot of adjusments. The user's guide is quite thorough. I was also able to print from my Kodak digital camera when connected to the USB port.
Cons: It would be nice if the USB port could read thumb drives, but I can work around that.

Canon says Hello toDumb Chip
Pros: Pretty, good quality print, reasonably fast, ethernet (for the price-can you beat it-don't think so), good tech support (at least the people I dealt with in Virginia), functions well with digital cameras, sd & cf card reader, excellent scanner (average speed), easy to setup, flip out LCD-nice, good feed system.
Cons: Hope you never get one with the dumb "smart chip system" like me. This renders ALL of the functions of the machine unusable. Had I known this when I bought the machine it would have been a deal breaker. If you ever get the error "the following ink tank cannot be recognized"-you're done. Ink fairly expensive.
Other Thoughts: I own 2 Canon MP730's. These have been the best multifunction devices I have ever owned. This is the reason I bought the MX700. Apparently Canon has fallen into the printer selling model of HP and Brother, where if an ink cartridge is ever detected as empty by the "dumb chip" the whole machine will cease to function-great as long as the "smart" system doesn't have a stroke.

Not happy
Pros: Worked great for a month
Cons: Then it started printing letters in double vision, tech support couldn't fix it, just out of warranty, so we're settling for a refurbished one.
Other Thoughts: I have used other Canon printers (PIXMA 4000) with great success.

It's a Canon
Pros: It's a MFC 5in1 unit that prints, scan, fax, copy, reads memory cards. Above all, uses 4 different ink cartridge so you only buy that ink only. And, the ink relatively inexpensive for this unit. Has a paper feed loader for the your copy or scan feature. Two paper try on the bottom (primary) and in the back (secondary) for you envelopes and other small paper.
And, above all else its a CANON!
Cons: Has a short to long warm up time when print start, but when it's all warmed up, the paper just come fly out with great print speed. No USB cable include, but that to be expected. The size is somewhat massive at first glance, so have some room really on your table.
Other Thoughts: *Haven't try the network hook up, so I really can say much about it.
*If you are a current HP user like me, and want to upgrade to something better. Then I highly recommend this Canon for your everyday prints. But if you are planning on mass print each and everyday then I would suggest the upgraded model from this one. Canon is now my #1 brand to buy now and HP has gone down to #2.

Gnarly network setup
Pros: I got if for $99 shipped, so could hardly go wrong. Only had it for a week so far; prints, scans, copies fine. I don't use the fax feature. Quiet machine and, although it has a fairly big footprint, I still gained deskspace since it replaced a scanner and printer.
Cons: The network setup was a nightmare. My machines use XP Home and following the Canon instructions got me nowhere. I wound up going into the LAN maintenance menu (on the machine itself) and resetting it to the default network settings after a couple futile attempts to communicate with the printer. Then I went back, set it up as a USB printer first, then reran the LAN setup program only from the CD and configured it as a network printer. You'll need a USB male to mini-male cable, since it's not included, even if you want to set it up on a network. What a pain in the kazoo! No help from the Canon website and I didn't bother calling support.
Other Thoughts: So far, so good. Time will tell........Gave it three eggs just because of the network setup hassles.

A Great Value!
Pros: Excellent and intuitive standalone color copying; very sharp text and vibrant colors. Uses a single, large pigment black ink tank for sharp text and economical color graphics. (Lower priced models use a smaller dye-based photo black ink tank that doesn't do sharp text but DOES get used up quickly.) This model has better user and professional reviews than any other MFP I know of.
Cons: Print head installs rather loosely, leading one to wonder if it is positioned correctly. However, multiple tries generate the same experience (so it must be normal) and once the ink tanks are installed everything snugs up.
Other Thoughts: Great standalone MFP; nice to know it has extra capabilites when connected to a PC... although I haven't used/needed them so far.

Good Value
Pros: Loaded with features: independent fax, networkable, separate color ink cartridges, on sale for $99 shipped!
Cons: None that I've found so far.
Other Thoughts: Great bargain, network setup went pretty easy, plugged in an SD card for some shared memory on our home network. You must configure the fax or it will answer your phone all the time.

Excellent All-in-One Printer
Pros: High quality printouts, easy to switch from one function to another, excellent value.
Cons: Kinda big but not overwhelmingly so.
Other Thoughts: Data cord not included but it was very inexpensive through NewEgg. I don't like to spend a lot of time setting things like this up and with this printer I didn't have to.

Canon MX-700 - Great Network Printer
Pros: Price, Separate Ink Cartridges, Ability to Duplex (printer walks you through inserting the page in the back of the printer, Network Printing (you can assign static IP and put in DMZ if you want), Fax is very configurable and can fax in Black and Color, Very easy to install and setup. Replacement Ink prices are reasonable and good availability of genuine Canon or OEM (with/without chip). I am still on my first cartridges and all 3 colors are still full and black is at 50% (owned for 3 months; prob printed about 250 pages; 80% black). Scanning works very well and you can choose where your scan goes (any network client, etc.). Great looking printer!
Cons: I would say print quality is pretty good; I dont print much in color and mostly I just print draft quality, but when I did print something in high res, I was not "stunned"; but I read others that say it prints awesome in Photo Color, so maybe with the Photo Ink and the right paper it would. The printer is little on the large size; takes up good amount of room and you need the depth if you were to put on top or back of desk. Depending on print options, you end up needing room for printer on all sides to allow for paper, access; so you need desk space for this printer.
All this said, I would definitely buy this printer again for what I use it for.

Good Value for Money
Pros: Good network scanning features. Great softwares, Overall great performance.
Cons: Compare to other all-in-one printers, this takes bit too much of a space. noticeable delay in printing/scanning middle of the jobs. Default color printing quality is not that impressive. But for the price, this is best you can get ($99)

A winner
Pros: Works 100% right out of the box, which is more than you can say for other brands these days. In the past week I purchased locally an HP and an Epson and returned both. The HP would damage each sheet of paper as it grabbed it to print. The Epson printout was skewed on the page, never straight. A call to Epson support was useless. The Canon seems to be 100%, and the dual paper feed (front and back) is a real plus. A real value for the Newegg price. Also, ordered it on Tuesday and got it on Wednesday. That's what I call fast shipping....excellent work Newegg.
Cons: None yet, other than the large front to back size. Probably not a "con", since you couldn't cram all the features in a smaller size. Just have enough desk space ready to hold it. Luckily this unit replaces two separate machines, so it wasn't an issue for me.
Other Thoughts: Definitely an impressive looking machine.

Great Machine. Low Price
Pros: Excellent intuitive function menus. Performs faxing, copying and printing flawlessly. Photo printing is very good and the speed is fast.
Cons: There is a long lag time between when the user sends a document to the printer and the actual output. Printing multiple copies is fast but not at the rate stated in the specifications. There is no setting for the contrast or darkness of an incoming fax.
Other Thoughts: It appears to be a solid, well designed, well made machine that will do everything you need to do in your home office.

Terrific purchase!
Pros: $99! It's been a long time since I've had my own printer, so I certainly am not on top of the printer world, but man, compared to my experiences with "top end" inkjets in the past, this thing does extremely well. Text comes out QUICK at almost laser quality, and full color graphics come out with pretty disciplined color throughout. Really really solid buy for the price.
Cons: I don't have a home phone line, so I can't fax anything!:-)
A little confusing to set up for network printing, but I don't know if that's Canon's fault; I don't normally set up printers for a network.

Good printer
Pros: I got this printer for 100 bucks when it was on sale. has 2 different paper feeding areas, has 2 different scan areas, lift up and feed through. copies great, tilty screen thingy, good quality pics, installed great, just a pleasure to have so far. im not a hudge printer, vary casual. directions, lyrics for a song. stuff like that and it works great. i scanned all my 8.5x11 pics that i drew within like 15 mins, and i had like 60+ pics and they came in great was able to crop and edit them in the program. man good printer. worth what ever price they are selling it for. has usb port.
Cons: no wifi, didn't come with the cord to connect it to your pc. but i hear none of them are comming with that. lame.

Can't print, never worked properly
Pros: None at this time
Cons: Can not print, fax, copy, or scan. This is due to the machine thinking it needs the ink cartridge replaced. Since they are brand new and there is nothing wrong with them, it is the machine itself. It started off with the yellow cartridge being the problem. Now it is the orange. No matter, you can not do anything with it. You can not change to black and white (I even tried to trick it, no go) and with it thinking there is a problem with the ink cartridge it will not allow you to preform any of the other functions.
Other Thoughts: Do not buy this printer, it has been nothing but a headache. I am not waiting on Canon to see if there is anything they are going to do about it.
If you are still doubtful about what I have said, check some of the web forums and blogs. Many, many people are having the same issues I have had.
I have since bought another printer, and no it's not a Canon.

Great experience so far!
Pros: Desktop XP Home setup was easy and my XP Pro laptop wirelessly networked with the printer just as advertised after installing the software provided. The MX700 network capability is not just a shared printer on virtual network but has a true network card on board. Other computers you may want to print from can be hard-wired to hub as well and indeed, after initial installation, you no longer need the USB after hooking the printer to the router (wireless in my case) with Cat-5 cable.
Cons: I wanted to save & organize all the kids’ school papers ectronically & on disks. I might have considered the MX850 for its Duplex features when scanning documents into memory. Sad/funny-UPS guy left a note on the front door “boxes around back under cover”. Got home in a driving rainstorm & indeed I found the soaked boxes on the grass under my Grill cover!
Other Thoughts: Get the $1.98 USB cable as well from Newegg (vs $21 retail@ Staples et. al.) Replacement OEM set of color ink cartridges and 2 blacks were also cheaper from Newegg shipped with the printer than from other sites.

Could be better
Pros: Excellent All in one, ethernet capability, fast once printing has started
Cons: long delay from the time I hit print to the time it actually starts to print
Other Thoughts: This thing is actually pretty good, the quality is above what I expected for the price and it plays well with Vista, if it didn't take so long ( up to 30 seconds) to actually start printing it would be 5 eggs

Photo Printing is the Weakest Link
Pros: I bought this to replace a scanner that is not fully compatible with Vista and my 5 year old Canon i900d Photo Printer. This is a Nice All-In-One Ink-jet based System. Networking was a real plus especially if you own multiple computers (Mac setup was some what tricky if you set this printer up from a different computer first). Nice overall design. I like having the fax function as well.
Cons: Photo Printing is weak! Compared to my 5 year old Canon i900, the photo's looked washed out and the colors were off even after attempting to manually adjust. The unit only comes with 4 colors and is likely just not cut out for Photo printing (for people with a somewhat critical eye). If you have nothing to compare to, likely the photo quality will be acceptable. Canon makes a multifunction "photo" line I should have looked at more closely (none of them appear to have fax capabilities but if I can't have it all then I can live without the fax).
Other Thoughts: This is best suited for Office Applications as the model implies (Office vs. Photo Multifunction). I was just mislead by some of the reviews about the photo quality on this site. I will be returning the product only because I want it all: Fax, Printing, Copies, Scanning and Eye Popping Photos (with Scanning and Photos being more important). I may have to look at replacing my laser printer and scanner instead of my Canon i900d and keep it for the photo's.

Moving on up
Pros: A good all-in-one printer. Quiet, somewhat quick once it gets started, and doesn't take up half the room. The quality of the printing isn't especially a concern for me, but so far the results have been better than average.
Cons: The lag between clicking "print" and the process getting underway is a bit long, perhaps about 20 seconds. The cost of ink is also a downer, but I suppose that isn't limited to this model. I have already replaced one black cartridge after about 60 pages (printed as low quality).

Great Product, Great Price!
Pros: I recently bought two of these, one for use in my home office and one for my daughter for use in her college dorm room. Setup on both XP and Vista via USB was painless. Separate ink tanks for colors, and the cost of ink is relatively reasonable. Free shipping! Both worked great right out of the box, and I still have lots of features to explore.
Cons: The user manual is a little sparse when it comes to completely describing all of the device settings and what they do/how they work. Having to buy an interface cable to install it "out of the box" is a little bit of a pain. No automatic power-off mode (like my older Canon i550 inkjet) that I could find. It's a little big, but smaller than the combination of the i550 and HP scanner that it replaced.
Other Thoughts: I compared the MX700 to several competing models and decided to buy based on the combination of price and features.

good all-in-one for the price
Pros: I recommended and installed 2 of these for family and friends, it's a very good printer/scanner for the price. It can work as a standalone scanner and copier and fax through the front panel and lcd screen so you don't need a computer to use it which can be convenient. The multi card reader on it is an awesome bonus. you can also access a usb memory stick and either save scans to it or print from it. The thing looks like it comes with a lot of feature rich software, although most of it I haven't bothered to look it. It installed easy, prints easy, and prints fast if set to print fast. Color photo's come out real nice too, scans great, and replacement ink cartridges are easy to get and fairly priced.
Cons: Comes with no usb cable, plan on having the desk space available including height. The front panel and lcd screen can be intimidating to older folks (ie my parents) who aren't computer savvy. Had some problems on first unit- would always answer incoming phone whenever the printer was on but I managed to undo whatever setting made it do it. Most people will probably have to browse through the instruction manual (my goal of course is never read the manual).
Other Thoughts: first time setup can be a little intimidating for non-computer people, I didn't read the setup instructions so I don't know how well they're written. Updated firmware on first unit, was very easy, canon website has good support. Hopefully the few operating quirks are fixed in future driver releases.

Best All in One I've had
Pros: I wanted to wait and use this printer for awhile before I posted and now it's been about 8 months. Prior to buying this unit, I went through 3 HP All in Ones over a period of about 4 years. To say this Canon outperforms all of those HP's would be a HUGE understatement. Let's see: Quieter, cheaper ink, at LEAST as good quality printer everyting from letters to photos an more solidly built. Did I mention cheaper ink? Having both front and rear paper feeds lets me keep photo paper on the front(And protected by the way) and regular paper in the rear. Rear feed also makes it much, much easier to feed envelopes. Have I mentioned how cheap the ink is compared to HP? Oh, and the cartridges last much longer.
Cons: If there are any cons, I haven't found them. With regard to Canon not including a USB cable, I guess that isn't a problem with me. I always have an extra one lying around anyway. Oh, wait! I discovered a HUGE con. It's now selling for a hundred bucks DELIVERED!! ABSOLUTE STEAL!!! I paid about $175.00 7-8 months ago.
Other Thoughts: If you need a good all in one that's gonna last well beyond the time your computer is outdated (probably next week for most of us) this is the one to buy...hands down.

Mind-boggling
Pros: Ease of operation -- INTUITIVE in every respect. Automatic document feed works for scanning as well as copying.
Cons: Scan quality isn't nearly as distinct as my Epson 1670.
Other Thoughts: A tremendous VALUE. Fully-featured. It would be nice if the "memory" feature (SD, etc.) could "capture" documents or photos that are scanned.
