Rating + 5 Does what it was bought for

Pros: Makes for a clean install. Display is viewable from any angle.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Would be nice if these came sleeved, but for the price it's to be expected. Nothing too tricky to install. Temps are approximations at best, but I knew that going in.

Rating + 4 5 stars for looks/display, 2 for design

Pros: Great display!!! Easy to read and understand, and man is it bright!!!. Looks couldn't be better, if you have a black case with blue LED's this thing will take it to the next level. Nicely machined, fits great in the 5.25" bay of mine. Fan speed is accurate, and from what I can tell so is the temp readout. Nobs are smooth to adjust and from the outside this thing feels solid, including the mount which comes with four screws and I'm only using 2. The "adapted in size" 3-pin cables also add a good deal of length to you fan cables already so room is a plus as well. No major forseeable problems...

Cons: Install is not as easy as it sounds. I rated the design down on this one becasue of the 3-pin connection location. It is crammed right next to the side wall and between it and the capacitors, so unless you have the fingers of a newborn you wil need a tool to get the adapted 3-pin connector in (a screwdriver should suffice). The temp probe recepticles are also flimsy 2-pin connections which are also crammed next to one another. Also, if this is your first fan controller install, you will need to do a lot of wire pulling and reconfig to get this thing in place and everything neat and tidy. Beware of the BEEEP as well, it could wake up a deaf guy, although it is a thoughtful feature.

Other Thoughts: Make sure your fans have a full 3-pin connector, not just a separate sensor. I didn't realize this about my fans which had the power integrated into the molex and now I can only monitor the fan speed and temp without controlling the speed, until I buy new fans. I blame the fans though not the controller for this inconvenience. Also if you need to adjust anything I suggest pulling the controller out through the front for easy access, because re-running the cables and connecting them again is almost impossible from inside the case. The use of it as a monitor though is still very nice. I would suggest this to anyone, however, be a little more weary about this product than you may be already...

Rating + 5 Great PC Eye Candy & Works

Pros: The unit does what many do not. It allows you to control up to four fans very well. The unit allows you to step up fan speeds 30 rpm at a time. No problem getting my 2900 rpm fans at 1200 up to 2900. Overall the unit is solid and seems of good quality.

Temperature probes fairly accurate to +-2 degrees F. Of course it won't agree to the mobo temps but they are close and it's all relative and informative.

Cons: The LED's are a bit bright

Other Thoughts: Definitely reccomend this unit.

Rating + 2 would be great

Pros: looks fantastic. Controls fan speeds brilliantly.(so far)

Cons: Temp Channel 4 came broken.

Other Thoughts: this thing looks great and does its job like a champ. BUT the 4th temp channel is broken, which i really wouldn't care about... if it didn't flash and set the temp alarm off non-stop.

The flashing kills the looks, and the beeping made me disable the speaker, killing another one of the main features of the product, the alarm.

I would live with the broken channel if it didn't flash...

Cons: The fan wires for hookup are of a specific type. I had to find an adaptable wire. I think it should come with both standard fan wire configurations.

Rating + 5 Great product & price

Pros: Nice finish, Comes with (4) 3 pin extension cables and the display is easy to read even in a well lit room.

Cons: Knobs could be a little bigger and have a heavier feel to them but that's not worth losing any eggs over.

Other Thoughts: I haven't used any of the temp sensors yet.

Rating + 2 Fantastic while it lasts

Pros: Great display! Colors are great for any blue colored case (which is pretty much everything aftermarket these days). Viewable at every angle, accurate RPM (see cons) and accurate temperature probes.

Don't make the same mistake I did though. The controller actually comes with 3 pin cable adapters which go from normal 3 pin to smaller 3 pin which plugs into this device. It is about a foot or so long and can reach most fans in your case without any needed extensions (unless you are using a full tower like myself). When I purchased this item, the picture of the included cables was not there, so I presumed it did not come with any and bought a bunch just in case. This is still a good practice to do since having too short of cables day of the build is very, very annoying and inconvenient. It also comes with a molex to floppy adapter for plugging into the device which provides a bit of leeway being that it is a front mounted device. The alarm would be great if the unit was accurate...

Cons: At the 3 month mark, the second channel RPM started giving me incorrect numbers. Sometimes it would say it was spinning at 0-600 (which my fans I know from experience don't keep spinning anywhere below 750), sometimes at over 9000 (even Vegeta couldn't believe that one). 3.5 months in, the second channel temperature was no longer accurate.

4 months in, the power to the second channel began to flicker in and out occasionally. Though annoying, my system has plenty of negative pressure to keep the case temperate without my front fans.

5 months in, the RPM and temperature for the first channel stopped being accurate, which just so happens to be my CPU channel (!). 5.5 months in, the second channel is no longer controllable at all, it goes at whatever speed it feels like. It doesn't change rapidly, but still a bit ridiculous.

7 months in, the CPU channel is no longer controllable. First two channels are now effectively useless. Front fans sometimes won't even start spinning...

Other Thoughts: Cons(Cont.): The fan controller runs pretty hot; I am not overdrawing from it either. It is rated at 1 amp per channel and I am using 0.48, 0.48, 0.24 and 0.28 (the first two channels are using two fans). These are ALL WELL UNDER their rated specifications and should have been fine. The price for buying cheaply for a great number of features I guess.

Other Thoughts: As I know a lot about electricity and how it works in respect to most things, I can tell you right now why this controller failed. Clearly, since Scythe makes all of their products in China and Taiwan, they cheated out on potentiometers and bought low quality and power ones (hence overdraw). This leads to the great amount of heat produced. This ultimately leads to the potentiometer's failure and eventually loss of control. If I can give any advice to novice or even experienced builders, always buy controllers rated well above what you need. You can tell a product is well made by that feature alone.

Pros: Nice build quality
Display is very easy to read.
Controls 4 kaze ultras.

Cons: It gets very hot.
I put a temp probe on it and it went to 100c and stopped as thats the max for the temp read out.
I had to add a fan to the back side of it to keep it from cooking its self. After I added the fan the probe I put on the back side of it droped to 41-43c.

Rating + 3 Good controller, questionable quality

Pros: It's a fan controller. 4 controllers are nice. Temperature sensors are somewhat useful.

Cons: Fan controller #3 died after just over 3 months. It was controlling fan 3 of 3 on the radiator for my water cooling system.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this controller if the price of the controller equated to the quality. If it were 25 bucks -- it'd be a score.

Pros: Simple to install and overall quality is good. The temp sensor work great and the L.E.D. readout really looks and works great. Matches my case finish perfectly, which is a Lian Li PC-B71 all Aluminum and Black.

Cons: The fan controller adjusment knobs should have been stronger. They feel a bit flimsy. They should have used the type that you push in to hide.

Rating + 5 Great product

Pros: I wrote a review earlier today that was not so positive. I have to take it all back. Sometimes I amaze myself about how unobservant I can be at my old age. I was wondering what the purpose of the orange led's were on the panel. Turns out there are no orange led's. It was a reflection off of a orange led on a USB stick plugged into the computer and I was too dense to realize it was reflecting off of the silver logo and trim on the fan controller.

Cons: Me (the moron)! The manual still could be a little clearer but it is adequate to get it going.

Other Thoughts: It works great. I still wonder a bit about the 165 degrees F alarm trigger. Seems a little high.

Rating + 2 Problems

Pros: Fits in cabinet well. Nice display. Controls the fans very nicely.

Cons: Terrible manual, very vague especially about placement and use of the thermal sensors. Orange led's glowing off and on from the left front panel and tiny ones on the knobs. See other thoughts. 165 degrees F seems awfully high for a cutoff.

Other Thoughts: Mine had orange led's pulsating off/on on the knobs and upper left of the display. Since I had the audible alarm turned off I assumed this meant my temps were high although only showing 84 degrees F on the display. No mention of this in the manual. I emailed Scythe asking about the purpose of the led's. They at first said it was not their product. I had to e-mail back with a link to Newegg's product and also directed them to their own web site, product ACC-028. Finally they acknowledged it was their product. They sent me another email saying the unitl must be defective and to send it back. Still no explanation of what the orange led's were for. They (Scythe) told me I had to pay return shipping before I could get a replacement. I thought that was not very fair for what was a defective product. Newegg also wanted me to pay for return shipping. I just decided it was not with the hassle and will keep it.

Pros: Works wonderfully, and the looks are fantastic. The brushed metal face looks amazing with my Coolermaster 690.

Cons: Plugs for the fans are in a very inconvenient place. The temp sensor plugs are in a great place however. Speaker that alerts you when your fans hit 0rpm (in case of a malfunction Im assuming)

Other Thoughts: Do not regret this buy, I plan on getting another so I can control more than 4 fans.

Rating + 5 Fan Controller

Pros: This device does exactly what it says it does. It is beautifully made, and quite sturdy. The LCD screen is very sharp looking, and not too bright. The Temperature Probes are very accurate (compared to bios readings). The controller part is also very well made. One can control the fans from 0 rpm to wide open.

Cons: None. This device does exactly what it is advertised to do.

Other Thoughts: If you need a fan controller, and want to actually know what is going on temperature wise inside your case, this is the best way to spend 36 bucks.

Rating + 3 A Nice Add-on

Pros: Nice looking add-on to the HAF932 Case! Great to be able to monitor the fan speeds and peripheral temps.

Cons: Somewhat fragile. Thought one of the knobs was going to fall off during install. The sticky tape for the sensors doesn't stick to anything, even after cleaning areas with alcohol.
Had to use my own double sided tape.

Not sure about accuracy of temps as it's very difficult to find areas to place sensors and tape them down. Actually taped the CPU sensor on the backside of the MOBO.

Max Fan Speeds seem low...700-750 maximum (any thoughts here?)

Other Thoughts: Not sure if it actually has a "practical use". Maybe just for bling?

One thing for sure, combined with the HAF932 case and it's four fans...things are running quite cool man!

Rating + 5 Thermal Couple mounting

Pros: Works as per spec

Cons: Thermal couples break easy.
Be carefully how far under any Heatsink you install the TC's to object being cooled and that is also being torque down, to much torque and the little ball on the end will crack, then No Temp readings and or control. Mount it near the edge of a Heatsink and object or use Copper tape to hold it in place on the Heat Pipes near the object being cooled.

Other Thoughts: Would be better if product eng would use TC's that were made flat and not two dissimilar metals just welded at the ends, which results in a ball.

Rating + 4 Great for fan control only

Pros: Controls temp well, easier than manipulating your 4pin molex connections to a certain voltage (which your psu might not like), also looks cool. Dropped my 4 fans on my radiator from max at 1900rpm to 1500rpm and its a lot less noisy with very little decrease in performance in this specific radiator. Overall happy with the purchase. Hope the unit lasts long, as I have not had very long. I dont plan on adjusting the RPMs up and down, I plan on keeping them the same.

Cons: Temperature readings are not worth hooking up or attempting to use. Wish they worked because that would be extra cool. Dont get this if you absolutely need the temperatures monitored externally and plan to do it with this. Only get this if you are planning to control 4 fans with good accuracy which it does pretty well.

Rating + 5 Scythe KM02

Pros: Completely happy with the unit... does what I that it was going to do.
Easy to read and use display. Nice and bright but not too bright. Read out for rpm seems pretty dead on. Very easy to install and use. Fit in the 5.25 bay perfectly.

Cons: All this are what I already knew going in: display tough to see at angle, smooth knobs, placement of connectors on back of unit isn't great, tape for probes is a joke.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, this is my first FC, but I got what I expected. No major flash, just works.
Installed my HAF 932. Mostly got it to control fans on rad for water cooling system.

Rating + 4 Solid Controller

Pros: *Very nice display and overall clean appearance
*Easy to control RPM with knobs, feels good!
*Accurate RPM monitor (compared to BIOS readings before install and fan Spec's)
*Ability to monitor temp
*Fan and temp extensions are long enough for full size case
*Can choose between F and C for temp
*Alarm function for stalled fans AND it can be disabled

Cons: *You must use the extensions for plugging in fans; you cannot just plug into the controller, even if the cords reach. Makes for a lot more clutter.

*Temp is fairly inaccurate... but it does provide a good ball park temp for different areas of the case.

*There is a 2mm gap between the bottom of the controller and my Antec 300 case when I make it flush with the DVD above it. Wouldn't be noticable if my fans below it were not lit. Enough that it would let dust in if you were super worried about it. Fixed with a thin strip of foam.

*A little bit pricey, but much better quality then the ~$25 competition

Other Thoughts: I am controlling 3x 120mm and 1x 140mm fans.

Overall, I am pleased with its looks AND its performance, something the two other controllers I've used have not acheived. If you want a fan controller, this is the best bang for the buck I've found, better then the touch controller I had, but thats because I prefer the knobs; quicker and easier to control.

I taped one of the temp probes to the heatpipe on my video card, lets me know when to turn up the 120 fan that blows on the side and thats when the temp comes in very handy. Of the other three probes, ones in between my RAM (reads ~ 4C low), on the side of the Radiator of my Corsair H50 cooler (typically lower then case ambient temp but not sure how accurate) and on in the bottom of my case as a control.

Rating + 5 great fan controller

Pros: - does what it should the way it should
- beautiful

Cons: - doesn't fit in all cases

Other Thoughts: Controls 4 fans and has 6 temperature probes. It is intended to be installed in a 5 1/4" disk bay.

Requires the bays in the case be completely open in the front. Mine weren't. It have a plastic plate covering half of opening of the bays so that only the disk tray would stick out when open and the rest of the bay would be covered. Because of this I couldn't install the fan controller the way it is was supposed to. Instead, I had to install it further back, behind the plastic cover. So, when I want to change the speed of the fans I have to open the plastic cover, where the CD/DVD would have been, and stick my fingers inside where the disk tray would have been in order to access the controller to adjust the fans' speeds. Not a big problem because I rarely need to do it. The pretty display of the fan controller it not visible, though. Buyers should make sure they do not have anything covering the bay before buying.

Pros: I thought this thing was going to be a ghetto pile of import junk, but it's nothing of the sort. It's well documented, temperature nodes and tape for each connection, and it works without issue.

Cons: No cons.

Other Thoughts: If you are buying a new modern case with 120mm fans everywhere, you will need this fan controller. Motherboards simply don't have the sockets to fit 10 positive pressure fans. This controller augments that problem nicely.

Pros: good control of fan speed and temp. looks good in case

Cons: Not a high quality product. use it to quieten down my gaming machine while my wife works in home office. Fan control 4 is stuck at max speed at all times and can not be turned down or off. invoiced 7/13/09 broke 8/20/09. I can hear the fans pulse in speed dropping around 100 to 500 rpm's then gaining it back.

Other Thoughts: If you want something neat that will not be adjusted often, then this is it, if you need something that you can adjust once a day and not worry about get something else.

Rating + 4 Works like a Champ

Pros: Installed this fan controler into an NXZT Rogue Case and it is controling 4 Cooler Master R4-L2R-20CR-GP 120mm Red Led Fans. I was able to speed up and down the fans without any issues. When a Fan goes out it does give an audible alarm and flashes the display showing which fan stopped responding. The Tempture probes appear accurate. All the cables that come with the kit are neatly packaged and connect securely to the controler. The connections that attach from the controler to the fans are 3pin, worked will with the Cooler Master fans because those were 3pin by default with 4 pin adaptors.

Cons: The only reason for a 4 egg was because (and it could be the NXZT Rogue case) but the side rails that the controler has were a bit wider than the height of the 5.25" bay. So they needed to be trimed down abit for it to slide into the bay.

Other Thoughts: When spinning down all 4 fans at about 1000rpm fan 3 stopped spinning, when moved fan 3 back up to about 1200rpm it started right back up. Not sure if it was the controler or the fan itself (i didnt test it by attaching control 3 to another fan in the case) with with all 4 fans set at 1230rpm i could not make out the fan noise.

Rating + 5 Even Better Than The Last!

Pros: I didn't think it could get better than the KM-01 that Scythe makes, but I was wrong. Another amazing VFD Fan Controller that will not disappoint.

- Controls 4 individual fans, and reads 4 separate temperatures.
- Knobs are sturdy and will not "overturn" past 100%.
- Comes with extra wires (temp and fan power)
- small 3/4 pin compliant for fan power (which means it supports the wide 4 pin connectors found on most new CPU coolers like the Zalman 9700/9900)
- Scythe has excellent support and RMA
- Because screen is VFD and not LCD, can be read from any angle.

Cons: A lot of wires to manage if your case has a side window. But well worth it. Still gets 5 stars because all these wires at the only way to get 4 separate fans and 4 separate temperature readings.

Other Thoughts: The temperature sensors are accurate to within +/- 2 degrees C so they work great for hard drive temperature readings. I used mine on my drives that are in my RAID array to try to spot ones that might be having a problem. An all around amazing product. Scythe customer support was fast and responsive and very courteous. Send me a package of case badges and stickers for use on my customer's machines. One of the few products/companies I don't mind helping advertise on my machines.

Rating + 5 Excellent product

Pros: Simple, works well, easy to hook up. Nice long cables.

Fast response to adjustment unlike other units.

Speed can be adjusted all the way down to zero.

Display is simple and elegant compared to more expensive units that don't work any better.

You can use all the temp probes even if you don't have all the fans hooked up.

Cons: Knobs are too smooth, they should have a knurled surface.

The beeper makes a horrendous piercing sound. Maybe it's a good thing but my ears don't think so. I put tape over it but it had little effect.

Other Thoughts: Fan controllers like this should have an I2C connector so that the fans and temp sensors could also be monitored from the computer. It would cost almost nothing to add this feature.

Rating + 2 Controls my fans..

Pros: Controls 4 of my fans, temp sensors work, came with some extra cables

Cons: Slippery knobs, I need to bend my head down to see the RPMs, as the screen is pushed back, and the fan controller case kinda blocks the view. The screen looks like a 1980's digital alarm clock. Mine came with a malfunctioning screen, and one of the numbers stays at 8 RPM, no matter what. Even if I have no fan attached, it still tells me it's running at 8 RPMs.

Other Thoughts: Kind of disappointing for a $40 controller, and wish I would've bought a less expensive one with no screen. I was weary about buying a Scythe product, and it's definitely the weakest link on my new build.

Rating + 5 Nice purchase

Pros: Installation was easy enough. Black plate and blue text matches my Logisys Area 51 case, and can fit inside when the front door is closed. That was a huge plus for me since I wouldn't want to slam into the knobs every time I shut the panel.

Ordered this as an open box item and, wonderfully, all the cables came with. I took a huge gamble with the possibility of it arriving with missing pieces. Exciting to know that I won't need to order cables and wait even longer to use.

Cons: Not huge flaws, but a couple of things that bugged me

-Fan speed text in sea green color. That just kinda offset my blue thing I have going on at my workstation. Just a little thing that pokes my OCD

-The structure, while pretty, is flimsy. The first time installing it, I actually screwd it in crooked. Guess I'm used to sticking a component liek an HDD or ODD in my racks and the bolts automatically lining up on each side.

Other Thoughts: The irony of it all is that I bought this to lower the speed and, more importantly, the noise of the stock fan that comes with the Area 51 tower. But when I went to hook everything up, I realized that it has no 3/4 pin adapters, only a molex. So now I either need a new fan or an adapter. :-/

But the controller itself is great and will surely do a fine job once I get the fan hooked up.

Rating + 1 SUCKS

Pros: nothing

Cons: The display will not turn on and all I get from the display are strange little lines that are faint and a reddish color. The buzzer actually sounds out an extremely irritating beep that could shatter crystal. I checked and have the power connected and other cables all connected correctly and nothing happens except for those little lines that I mentioned. The manual stinks and doesn't help at all and should be used for fires.

Other Thoughts: The only time that the display does turn on is when the power gets reversed so don't accidentally do that because the chips get hot. That didn't break it. It started to do this out of the box and never work. So if anyone has any ideas can you please let me know in other reviews. In general never get this product IT SUCKS AND I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO RETURN THIS PIECE OF JUNK.

Pros: Excellent product. Worked flawlessly on my machine controlling 4 fans (both 3 and 4 wires). I was able to reduce overall noise and yet keep things cool

Cons: A bit hard to read from a high angle.

Other Thoughts: Not as fancy as other controllers like XION XON-MTR002B, but much more reliable.

Pros: Very simple explanation and good installation guide. Easy to use in a case with a door, it does not protrude very far. It comes with two replacement thermocouples, and the thermocouple ends are encased in nylon for protection. This should be a valuable tool to monitor anyone's rig.

Cons: Knobs seem a bit fragile, be careful. Installation bracket could be longer to make use of tool-less installations.

Other Thoughts: Even if you don't use this for fan control, it's useful as a monitor.

Rating + 4 Good

Pros: It does what you need it to for the most part. Display is nice, materials are nice, basically matches black aluminum case. Temp sensors are accurate within 2 degrees, perhaps better yet. Remember, its the temp of the sensor head so you won't be shoving this on your cpu and expecting to see the same temp as your software based sensor [plug]RealTemp[/plug]. First one died but theres always outside variables involved in part failures, second one runs fine as I knew it would. I've got it controlling some antec fans and some wicked 80 cfm fan that is too loud for use without this controller.

Cons: I had to RMA the first one I, after 2 of 4 channels died within a week. However, it was coupled with a monster fan that moved like 250 cfm, and was comparable to a cop car siren from about 2 blocks distance. It never controlled the fan properly, and shortly after installation those channels died. The mondo fan might have just been too much for it, naturally after failing to control that fan I returned it and have had no issues since. Newegg always treats their customers great, making RMA's, refunds, and confusions extremely simple to deal with. There is alot of wires.. I can see someone thinking the digital readout is a bit bright, but I had no issues falling asleep with it staring at me. The fan wires are slightly difficultto install, but a carefully placed flat head screw driver firmly locks the little connecters in. I also had to bend the frame to get the screw for the drive bays to be compatable. I was a bit nervous but it was nothing like that time I took a hacksaw to my ram 8P

Other Thoughts: Good product, would get again. I'm actually surprised there isn't nicer models with more options. I wanted to spend more than this, however this does exactly what i needed. I'd have just as well considered more expensive options for a single bay fan controller. It would be nice if it supported fans with 4 pin molex power connectors, however a rosewell power supply fan adapter can be modded to allow fans with a 4 pin power and a 3 pin connecter with only the rpm wire to connect to a channel on this unit, and the wire is like .99 cents on newegg.

Rating + 5 Top Performer

Pros: Displays system temps and fan speeds for four fans/areas at once. Comes with extra temp probes. Probres are long enough to reach just about anywhere in a mid-tower case. Fan controller works well. Overall, everything seems solid and the packaging for it is topnotch. This really outperforms some of the more expensive units out there.

Cons: Not a big deal, but adjusting fan speed can be tricky because the display takes a second or two to reflect your adjustments.

Other Thoughts: I haven't noticed whether or not the display can be seen from different angles. My case (NZXT Beta) sits on my desk and has an overhang that wouldn't allow me to see the display if it sat on the floor anyways. I have this monitoring my CPU, GPU, HDD, and Chipset. Works like a champ.

Pros: Coolest / Cheapest recent add-on to my computer.

Does what it's supposed to, and does it with style.

Cons: Wires are pretty long, zip ties required!

Other Thoughts: My front intake fan doesn't give an RPM reading, and I'm not sure if it's controlling it's speed either. I think it's more the fault of the fan.

Rating + 4 Very good but some problems

Pros: Controls 4 channels up to 1 amp each, so I have about 6 fans running through this thing. Front display is visible at almost all angles. Temperature sensors are relatively accurate (off by about 1 degree +or-). Stylish design makes for a good case accent. Comes with 4 cables which MUST be used to connect to the controller (The plugs on the back look like normal 3 pin fan plugs, but they are proprietary connectors which are smaller then normal 3-pin fans). On the bright side though, they are longer than a foot for those fans at the far side of the case.

Cons: This thing runs pretty dang warm. One might say I am plugging to many fans into channels, but trust me, I checked the amps on all my fans, they are very below the limit. It could conceivably be the display being overtaxed with electricity by the makers. But who knows... no red version for red cases, but that is just being picky.

Other Thoughts: If you are going to use this, have zip ties available for all the extra cabling. In my case there is too much length so I had to organize them or it would look like a ridiculous rainbow of cables up by it.

Pros: Good display. Adds a little panache to my machine.

Cons: It beeps at you if a fan is on, but isn't moving. While this is a nice safety feature, it gets annoying when you turn on fans from a stop and it beeps until they spin up.
Also, the provided tape to secure the thermocouples to heat sources is useless

Other Thoughts: Once you've set it up, and as long as you don't switch fans on and off too much, it's a great product.

Rating + 5 1 controller, 4 fans, 5 eggs...

Pros: controls up to 4 fans, high rpms, no fan speed lost, works flawlessly. This is by far the best fan controller on the market, even better when you compare the price to feature ratio. If you have an over clocked cpu, or gpu, you'll need some extra fans in your case to reduce some of the that excess heat that comes along with the added performance gains, and this is the best way to control them and protect your investment. If youre going to load up your gaming case with a few extra fans why not have full control over them; personally I only overclock my video card when I am gaming, thats when i need my fans running on all 8 cylinders, but when I want to sit back and watch a movie I dont need all 4 of my side mounted case fans blazing at full speed. Its nice to be able to turn them down, to 50%, 25%, or even off when I don't need them. Also the unit looks nice in my case. Its not too flashy or bright with the blue leds.

Cons: Had to wait for the item to be restocked twice before I could get online and buy one before they sold out again,.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you turn each fan all the way off and not down to the point where it stops spinning, if its still getting juice and not spinning you could fry your fan or something even more expensive. If you're looking for a fan controller, just buy this one, dont skimp on your cooling or it could cost you in the end.

Rating + 5 Simple and Elegant

Pros: Looks great, very easy to install and hook up fans/temp sensors. Almost no lag between turning the knob and change in fan rpm. Beautifully simple. Temp sensors are nice, 2 extras included in the event you are clumsy and break one. I have one on HDD, one on 260GT, one on CPU heatsink, and one on Powersupply.

Cons: It's a bit short for 5.25" drive bay. If your case has toolless 5.25" drive bay, it's tricky to get it seated properly, and it still wiggles a bit if you push on it. Display is a bit bright, not something that bothers me as my case has a hinged cover over the 5.25" drives.

Other Thoughts: 2 of my case fans are factory (came with case) and I had to solder molex connectors on their power wires to use with the fan controller. They only have the two power wires, so I don't get an rpm reading from them, but they can still be controlled.

Pros: I like it. If you want to slow down your fans (nice and quiet now), this product cant be beat. Nice display, it seems accurate. Even tells you if the fan is "Off", as in...not enough voltage being supplied to the fan. Good feature. Even beeps if a fan fails.

Cons: 3 bad things reduced the otherwise perfect score:

No installation procedures provided for installing the panel in a screwless case (I had to duct tape it in place)

Only reports RPM on three wire fans (not listed in specs)

No adapters or converters for 2 wire fans

Other Thoughts: Nice work on this product. Good engineering and wonderful finish. Fix the screwless case issue and add 2 wire adapters and you will get 5 eggs from then...on.

With a lil creativity and some skillz you can make this piece of hardware do wonders.

I bought 2 of these, installed them in an Antec 1200 and now I can control all 7 120mm fans plus the top exhaust.

Buy this if you really want to take control of your fans (rpm + temp readouts etc, lower noise, turn the LED's off, etc..)

Rating + 5 Very Nice Fan Controller

Pros: Fantastic clear display that can be seen from any angle with no problem. The wires are very long so the fan hookups and temperature wires will reach any fan in your case. Temperature readings are very accurate and can be switched from Celsius or Fahrenheit just by switching jumper places internally. In addition to canging the RPMs of a fan it can also be turned completely off from the panel, which is a great feature. Just a really great controller at a really great price.

Cons: No way to turn off the display. For those who keep their computer running 24/7 in their bedroom, it can be distracting when you're trying to sleep.

Other Thoughts: Coupled this controller with three Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F case fans and they work great together. I'd recommend those fans and this controller if you're looking for a good case fan/fan controller combination.

Cons: The only minor issue I have with it is that, after installation in my CM 690, the fan controller is not precisely lined up with the CD-ROM below it. Not a big deal in the scheme of things.

Pros: Very accurate temperature and RPM readings. Way better than my previous controller. Also, the numeric displays are very clear and bright. You're able to read them clearly from just about any angle you can imagin. Finally, the tuning nobs have the same turn resistance of the high end audio equipment's volume nobs. This made it feel really classy.

Cons: Like I've said, the numeric displays are clear and bright.

Very very bright indeed. If you have the computer in your bedroom, forget about having it running P2P softwares overnight. Once you turn off the light, the numeric displays literally lit up the whole room in faint blue.

I don't consider my self a light sleeper, but it bothered me enough that I ended up sticking couple of post-it notes stacking together over the displays just so I can fall normally asleep.

Other Thoughts: It's a really well made unit. Shame that it doesn't have a switch for turning off the display when you goto bed. Though obviously this won't be an issue if you don't keep your computer in your bedroom or if you always turn off your computer overnight.

I ended up selling this thing to my friend and bought Scythe's newer controller panel that has a display on/off switch instead.

Rating + 5 This is Great!

Pros: This thing was simple and easy to install. Others have complained about mounting in a toolless case. No problems, just use the standard toolless slides, the thing goes right in snd holds the unit in. Routing the wires was the most complicated thing to do and that was just so I wouldn't have wires floating around inside the case. I stuck one each of the temp sensors on my CPU, between my 3rd and 4th memory stick, between my 2 HD's that are mounted together, and on the heatsink on my GPU. Temps run within a degree of what the motherboard reports and much easier to keep track of being on the front of the case. Fans are easy to controll and the knobs and their movement feel just fine. I am very happy with this product.

Cons: None that I know of.

Other Thoughts: When you use the toolless slides the unit can rock a bit because the back part of the slides wont catch. Nothing to exert any outward pressure on them. Either put a screw in them to hold them firm, kind of defeats the toolless design. Or do as I did -- Duct Tape. Easy and quick to do, holds the slides firmly in the grooves at the rear and I'm sure easy to undo. It's called a Knife.

Rating + 5 Works Exactly As Advertised

Pros: Install was simple and fast. I used screw-on drive mounts that came with my case and the screws that come with this unit fit perfectly. The fit and finish on this fan controller is extremely high quality especially given the low price compared to other products available. I connected 4 80mm Vantec Tornado's and have the ability to turn them completely off or all the way up to the maximum advertised RPM. The dials have excellent sensitivity as even the lightest change will be noticeable in the fan speed. I was unable to use the RPM monitoring functionality but what's nice is that the display disables the readout so all that I'm left with are the thermal readouts.

Cons: The only con I can think of is the fact that I needed to purchase molex adapters (4pin to 3pin female) but that's just due to my high-performance fans and is not necessary for everyone.

Pros: So the main reason I bought this was to be able to use all 6 fans in my NZXT Tempest; I haven't really configured the temp monitors. I've had it for a month and it works great and looks great. I've had no major problems with it so far.

Cons: Installation. I am using a "screwless" case and the fan controller was actually loose for a couple days (the screws weren't long enough) before I grabbed a couple longer than what the controller came with to install it.

Pros: Looks great in the PC case and it gives me a relative idea of temps on devices in my case. I didn't expect accurate readings, but it comes close to core readings so far! I just wanted a basis so I could compare readings as they go up/down with adjustments in fan RPMs. I like the alarm function too....scared the daylights out of me at first...didn't expect it to be that loud. BTW...you get 2 extra probes with it.

Cons: The unit is a U-shaped bracket and not a complete module like a DVD drive. Therefore, it is hard to mount in a case that has quick lock/release buttons for devices in your bays. I did not take that into account..my fault since picture shows it correctly. Plus, it is only a 4 fan controller and not 6...but I obviously knew that when buying it. I just liked the looks and functions of it.

Other Thoughts: I have the CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000 case and I had to drill extra holes in the bracket to set the unit back about 1/2 inch...I wanted to keep the door on the PC case..better air flow in the case that way, I think. The knobs on it stick too far out and the door will not close. Otherwise, you could just remove the case door and mount it flush with the other devices in the bays. I mounted the probes on the CPU cooler base, memory stick, graphics card and the hottest running hard drive. I didn't really need this for my case, since the fans that come with the Cosmos 1000 are really quiet and the case minimizes inside noise with sound dampeners on the side. Even the Zalman 9700 is kept at 100% and I still can't hear it (2500RPM)! I would recommend this and would buy it again.

Pros: Large clear display. Shows accurate fan rpms and temps of probes. Neat, quality fit and finish. Has fairly loud alarm for fan failure or high temps. Easy setup, clearly marked wire leads.

Cons: Wires are very thin. Probe temps are only used for reference, they aren't close to actual cpu or gpu temps. I left one out of my case to give me an accurate room temp.

Other Thoughts: I mounted this unit to a shelf in front of my desk to monior without looking down at my PC. I extended all wires about 4', using crimp connectors and 16ga wire. Also, used molex connectors and 3 pin fan extensions to have conntections at rear of PC. So moving the PC and disconnecting is simple. I used the rotary speed controllers from my Silverstone Fm 123 fans, which I mounted to my front empty 5 1/4 bay face plate.
Now I control the fans seated on my rear from the PC and look at the speeds and temps right on my front desk. Took a few hours, but well worth it.

Pros: Controls the fans very well. I have 3 fans that make a lot of noise when at full speed, with this I can turn down when I am not gaming. Looks really nice. Temperature probs are really useful. I have one on the processor heat sink, 2nd on the GPU heat sink, 3rd intake air, 4th exhaust temp.

Cons: a lot of wires, but with everything I am monitoring/controlling i expected that.

Other Thoughts: Worked out great. Really useful, not problems at all.

Rating + 5 Good Fan Controller

Pros: Controls 4 fans; includes 4 temp probes; display is easy to read; when fan is not connected, blank space; works extremely well

Cons: This is a half-size frame (depth), so the tool-less cases have trouble with these- not as in falling out, but one side is loose and pushes in 1/2 inch. I fixed this by sticking a penny in the loose end.

When a temp probe isn't connected, display shows 0 degrees

Other Thoughts: This is my second. I installed the first one, turned one my computer, and heard an explosion (one of the parts on the controller). Not something anyone wants to hear on a new PC...I RMAd it, and the new one worked perfectly. Also, don't disconnect a fan while this is on- it thinks the fan stopped, and it "screams"

Pros: Great tool to help u tune up your computer, detecting and eliminating any hot spots.
U will know what is going on inside the case.

Cons: 1. only control 4 fans, 6 would be better.
2.i have to pay shipping fee.

Rating + 5 Nice System Addition

Pros: This device enables you to tell at a glance whether the fans are performing properly.

Cons: Thermocouples are fairly fragile.

Other Thoughts: I usually run full out on cooling but it is still nice to be able to monitor the system.

Rating + 5 Just what I needed, a controller that works!

Pros: This fan controller works great and was easy to install.

Cons: Would've been nice if it had the ability to automatically control the fan speeds based on temps, but then again every other controller that does this doesn't work or fails within the first week.

Other Thoughts: This is a great product and looks good too. It's nothing fancy, set the fan speed and that's it, if you want you can use the thermal sensors to monitor some component temps.

Rating + 5 Simple Yet Solid

Pros: Controls my fans, reads the temps, looks solid and great pricing.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Wish you could change colors, but luckily, the blue scheme matches my fans.

Rating + 4 Works Well

Pros: Fairly easy to set up
Keeps my components alot cooler than allowing the motherboard to control the fan speeds.

Cons: No real guide for the best way/places to place the probes. Do a google search and you'll come up with tons of great ideas though.

Other Thoughts: Think twice before setting it to read out fahrenheit.
I set mine to fahrenheit and then regretted it when everything else that outputs temps uses celsius and in order to compare the temps I have to use conversions. I could switch it back, but that isn't really easy once it's set into the case.

Rating + 1 VERY MAD

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: Stopped working after 4-6 months.
I would randomly hear this loud BEEEEEEEP and couldnt figure out what it was. The 4th port blown out. then the next week the 3rd port blew out.. after a few more weeks i had no fans working and had to completely re-wire my whole setup so get my quad radiator fans working before i overheated.

Other Thoughts: Im very mad at this stupid thing. I will not buy another one.

Rating + 5 Great product!!

Pros: 1) Can turn off fans.
2) Temp probes seem to work good.
3) Works well with my APEVIA CF12SL-UBL 120mm Blue LED Case Fans as well as the fans that came in my antec 900 case. all of which are 4 pin (two wire)120mm fans which i had to splice into the cables that came wtih the controller. these 2 wire fans will not display rpms but im ok with that. have not yet hooked up the 200mm but i suspect it will work perfectly.

Cons: When turned all the way off, channel number 1 is slightly in a different position than the other 3 channels but since i rarely turn them all off i never notice.

Other Thoughts: Great product. Get it.
Looks great in my antec 900.
Shipment arrived when expected.

Pros: Easy enough for anyone to understand how to install. Compleetly variable led readout on RPMs. Easy to use.

Cons: Apparently not compatable with all fans. The temp probes are a bit silly since if you're using it to controll case fans you can't really temp a "zone" of your case. It does give you good feedback on surface temps of components or heatsinks.

Rating + 5 Nice looking display

Pros: The display is very nice and bright. Easy to see from almost any angle. Very easy to set up and it's works great. Gives you different options for temperature reading and it's easy to switch between Celsius and Farenhieght. Let's you enable/disable the little "beep" that comes on if your temperature reading gets to a certain level. Also gives you the option of completely turning off a fan by simply turning the knob all the way down. Very easy to install and looks like it actually belongs with my case.

Cons: The only con that I can think of is the instruction manual. It comes in different language but instead of separating them to different sections, it all gets put together making it very hard to follow but if you understand where everything already goes you really won't need it. I just used it to set up the temperature readings.

Other Thoughts: I have this in my Antec 300 case controlling the two front fans, the top exhaust fan and the side panel fan. Temperature readings are on my two hard drives, CPU and my video card. This really is a controller as it controls everything you need it to. Overall it's a great buy and shipped extremely fast from NEWEGG!

Pros: Nice brushed aluminum plate and knobs, simple interface, alarm.
Readout visible from any angle.
Takes fans to their full rated speed.

Cons: One temp probe was dead...found out AFTER I installed it on CPU. Package comes with extra probes though

Other Thoughts: Was waiting for something simple and solid...this is it.

Rating + 5 Can't go wrong with this!

Pros: -Very simple yet classy design
-Extremely easy to install
-High precision RPM tuning
-Accurate temperature readings
-Price
-Everything else....

Cons: -Can't control 20 fans?! What???

Other Thoughts: This Scythe Kaze Master Ace is by far the best fan controller I have ever worked with. Having previously owned the Zalman ZM-MFC2, AeroCool Gatewatch 2, I can tell you that this one is the best in every aspect of a fan controller. It's simple yet classy design is great eye-candy and it's functionality is just right - to control fans and take temp readings. If you want other fluff, look for something else.

Installation is EXTREMELY easy; it took me about 30 minutes to do it. You can precisely tweak the RPM of any fan with 30 RPM intervals but there is a bit of a lag between input and response but nothing major. It reads temperatures for each component with an accuracy of +/- 2 degrees Celsius (when compared with on-board temp readings). It's very customizable; you can switch between F and C degrees and disable the alarm. It comes with 6 temperature probes and you also get 4, 4-pin PWM to 3 pin connector cables (NOT 4 pin molex connectors; you'll have to get those yourself).
