Question regarding Speaker plug
Pros: This is my first time putting a system together, Found the instructions clear and understandable. However, my Antec Case has a small built in speaker and I have a plug that I cannot locate pins on the Mobo to plug this into. Not sure if newer boards still allow for Mobo Speaker?
Cons: Other than plugging in the speaker none that I can think of.
Other Thoughts: The post by people who purchased this an other products is extremely helpful. I made several purchasing decisions based upon people taking the time to post comments.

Too cheap to tivo
Pros: Blindingly simple to install. The detail on the fold out instalI sheet is great for getting the front panel wiring in.(I hate those little plugs) built this for my family room as a DVR. hauppage HD tv card, 4gb corsair DDR2 800,intel 3.00 dual core ,500gb seagate HD,Nvidia 8600gt vid card ,gigabte titan box,500w PS. multi card reader. Vista ultimate.Works great, runs cool. run both my tv cable into it and internet.Great value for the money
Cons: None really
Other Thoughts: An Esata port would be nice , I think 1394 is past its prime. had a left over port from a previous gigabyte board( not a good experience) and use that.

As expected
Pros: Excellent foundation to build a machine. Intel always has a solid product. I've never experienced an out of box failure.
Cons: None at present

Good, stable board
Pros: Very stable board that was easy to assemble, and having everything onboard is just a plus. I don't overclock/game or do high end graphics, so the basic board is just great for what I do.
Cons: None, so far.
Other Thoughts: There is no hard-copy manual, but the entire manual is on the CDROM in PDF format, very easy to print out before you even begin. I had mine printed and ready to go before I started assembly.

One week in, so far so good
Pros: Seems solid so far, but I don't overclock. Worked fine right out of the box with very little problems. Gets along with Vista, and is more or less as advertised.
Cons: A few oddities more than anything else, but basic stuff.. A lot of things around the PCI-e 16 slot, so put the vid card in last... Doesn't really have a manual. Came with a fold-out quickstart guide that was mainly just pictures and numbers. It does have great pictures for the panel and USB plugs and such, but a standard manual would have been nice. I believe the full manual is on the CD, but that doesn't help much when building it..
Other Thoughts: I ordered on a Tuesday, with standard UPS shipping, it got here Wednesday!! NewEgg is crazy!

Basically good
Pros: Relatively inexpensive, 3 PCI slots, support for various FSBs. And on-board VGA (why are they getting rid of that??)
Cons: Linux installation required the "ACPI=off" parameter, which, as far as I can tell, means the power won't actually shut off on its own when you shutdown the computer.
Other Thoughts: Aside from the ACPI issue, I had no other problems with the Linux installation. Also, despite the warning from other reviewers, I did not have to change the SATA ports to IDE. That was the default on my board.

Pros: I tried to use VMware ESX server with this board and it seems to work well it did not recgonize the onboard NIC but everything else worked. It worked with windows XP and Vista no problem
Cons: I wish it had more PCI-express 16x slots

Setup comments
Pros: Working fine with an Intel 1333 E6550. Remember to change BIOS settings to "see SATA as IDE" if you're installing XP first thing before the OS.
Cons: None. Of course the LGA 775 cooler install is a pain, but the key is to do it BEFORE you mount the board in the case--then you can easily see if the pins are in all the way or not.
Other Thoughts: This board IS compatible with several 800 FSB core duo processors, the Newegg specs don't mention that; check at the Intel website for a list of all the processors that work with this board. Also, re the comment below about XP users needing to apply a hotfix before the inf install, this fix is already included in XP Service Pack 3--just install that right after the XP OS install, then the inf files, and no problems with the USB ports.

One more thing
Pros: Worked with Fedora 8 x86_64, Fedora 9 x86_64
Cons: CenTOS 5.1 x86_64 install disk hung during boot up, not really a con for me, but WinXP wouldn't boot, at least not with a Q6600 installed.
Other Thoughts: WinXP works fine under Sun's VirtualBox, and for the little bit I use Windows, that's fine for me. I probably could have gotten CentOS5.1 to install by fiddling with boot options, but didn't bother since Fedora worked fine.

Good for the price
Pros: Works with Q6600 and 8GB of ADATA memory out of the box. Lots of USB2.0 ports plus IEEE1394 on board, locking SATA cables.
Cons: No paper manual, only 4 SATA ports, only 2 SATA cables included, unlike most AM2+ entry level boards, the on board video only supports a single D-sub monitor.
Other Thoughts: Worked first time despite the lack of documentation. Make sure you have another computer available, or print the documentation before you start.

Worked Fine After WINXP Hotfix
Pros: A nice board with fine VGA and sound on-board. Lots of connectors for expansion. Purchased so that customer could upgrade to better VGA if desired, and add features/cards as required.
Cons: REQUIRES hotfix from Microsoft to be installed BEFORE installing Intel Chipset Driver. This is a bug in WINXP. Installed WINXP Pro/SP2, then MS hotfix :KB921411 and finally Intel Chipset drivers. If the hotfix is not installed first, USB will not work AFTER installing Intel's drivers. There were a couple of paper notices inserted into the motherboard box, this was NOT among them. This notification IS in the README for the chipset driver, though.
If you're not installing VISTA (and who is?) remember to set DRIVE CONFIGURATION - CONFIGURE SATA as IDE in BIOS.
Lastly, don't click on ANYTHING while the on-board/Realtek sound driver is being installed. Windows will ask if you want to install a driver from the web, etc. Ignore this message entirely. Just let it finish all by itself!
Other Thoughts: Except as noted above, we haven't had any issues. Hardware works fine with E7200 Wolfdale - 2.53 Ghz. and 2 GB Corsair memory. Seagate SATA and Samsung SATA drives. In general we like Intel boards and use them often. Of course, the Intel OEM heatsink assembly is annoying to install, but you get used to it!

Great Classic MB
Pros: Great board for the price, put it together and booted it up. It's fast no temp problems. I don't overclock so It does everything that I need. The intergrated video and audio is great for me. Plenty of room for upgrade. The only problem I had and it had nothing to do with the MB, was I had the old xpsp1 disk and I could'nt load windows I had to siip steaam a disk, after that everything loaded fine. And as usual Newegg made shopping online worry free and fast shipping. Way to go Newegg.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: If your looking for a great MB that is cheap in price but not in quality this is the one.

Exelent Classic MB
Pros: Great board for the money. Very stable, easy build, exelent graphics for on board controller. Very fast. Using a Q6750 2.66 MHZ processor and Cosair pc800 memory.
Cons: Manual in the box was ok but not all specs in there. (XP only) No where in the box does it say you will need to use F6 to install hard drive driver. Also you will need to have a floppy installed to load the driver. (Microsoft XP limitation.) Otherwise change the defalt SATA drive to IDE configuration in the bios. Otherwise you will get the blue scteeen of death. error ...00007b
Other Thoughts: I liked the header for 5.1 sound on the board. Sound works great. I usually hate on board sound. But this one is an exception very good sound.

Excellent little motherboard
Pros: Installed 64-bit Ubuntu server 7.10 on this and it's been rock solid for over a week. Sound, Ethernet, video, it all just works.
Cons: Initially wanted to install an old copy of Windows 2000, but the 2000 install always hung during hardware detect. I don't know that this is the fault of the motherboard though.

Works great, but remember to flash the BIOS
Pros: I've been building my own PCs for over 13 years now. I usually go with AMD but right now Intel has the perf lead+bang/buck and Q6600's have been out for over 6 months so they've been tested. I bought this motherboard because the video specs said it would do HD resolutions. My only concern with that is would it play Age of Empires III. It does just fine at 1600x1200 with everything on except vsync (some weird stuff shows up with the trade route upgraded to a train, but I think that is a bug with AoE, not Intel's graphics, because I saw the same thing only worse before patching AoE). I got a Vista experience rating of 3.3 with my Q6600 and 4gb of AData's PC6400 DDR2 RAM. That was because the gaming graphics were the lowest. But as I noted above, that is enough to play AoE III (Note that I've triple booted with WinXP, Vista 32-bit, and Vista 64-bit. I'm writing this review from V64, but AoE III won't install on Vista, hence my triple boot). Anyway, this is a really good board.
Cons: I had to turn off the AHCI in the BIOS for my 1tb SATA hard drive because Windows XP doesn't install with it, Windows 2003 blue screens after reboot, and Vista would hang and become unresponsive during patch updates (note that this was going from RTM to SP1, so SP1 fixes might've prevented this). However, after switching AHCI off, EVERYTHING works GREAT. No complaints whatsoever.
Other Thoughts: Intel probably should've tested it more with AHCI before deciding on making that the default for the BIOS settings. A more globally acceptable default of IDE SATA behavior would probably have been prudent. However, I can highly recommend this board. Oh, just make sure you install the graphics drivers on the included CD or you will have a Vista experience of 1.0, which sucks.

Read data sheet at Intel web site
Pros: Could not tell. Could not boot on quad core CPU, 3G, 1333. Total black out.
Cons: Specification from newegg is not clear. Spec shows front site bus 1333, support quad core. But it did not say quad core 1333 has limitation. I checked Intel web site and found info in data sheet. It boot fine on dual core

Flash the BIOS
Pros: Our company has used this board in about 200 of our system builds (XP). I have yet to come across a truly bad board.
Cons: After several months of use we had systems begin to reboot at random. About 50% of the systems have exhibited this behavior. It is due to a fault in the BIOS code. Flashing to the latest BIOS fixes this issue.
Other Thoughts: Buying one of these for my personal use now. A solid board for the money.

Rock Solid...
Pros: Built in audio and video, works well with Vista. Not as cheap some have implied. So far I am happy. I just needed a good machine to edit and multi-track audio. Has firewire built in also, which was a BIG plus for me. So far I am happy.
Cons: Even though I don't use them, I was not able to get my front panel headphone and mic connection to work. I think that is an issue with my case more than the mobo though. I use a PCI sound card anyway so it is not a big enough deal for me to even be upset about, but I did feel that it was worth mentioning so others would know.
Other Thoughts: Used with a Sigma Luna Case, 2 gigs A-data ram, LG LightScribe Multi DVD-RW, M-Audio Audiophile 2496, 250 gig Western Digital...
All Works Well... THANKS NEWEGG!

Good Board
Pros: Built in everything works well, PCIe 16 ready, 4 mem slots, really slick driver install cd, installs everything in one fell swoop and lets you leave your password - it re boots itself during all the installs, XP64Pro and Vista ready, supports Intel quad CPU's
Cons: no overclocking... but, who cares?
Other Thoughts: 2nd one I've bought to build Quad machines, no complaints, everything on the board works in a tidy package, I'll get creative later - right now I want it to work and be stable as a rock

Fine Board for General Use
Pros: A fine board for a general use machine. I wanted a board for a machine that I might upgrade to Vista, and have no problems with this one. Full size ATX board, plenty of slots for expansion, out-of-the-box video and audio. Load it up, and upgrade with new video and audio if wanted. Fired-up without a problem. Runs great on XP Pro.
Cons: Like most newer boards, SATA, and one IDE connector. No Parallel Port on back. If moving over from another system, you can easily drop a PCI card in that adds more IDE connections.

Pros: Works great, board doesn't feel as cheap as everyone says it does. Plenty of room for expansion. No problems in Ubuntu, though I don't know about other distros.
Cons: Where to start? No SATA drivers for Windows, make sure you know that you have to switch to IDE mode, and even then you're lucky if it'll boot at all. Audio drivers seem to have trouble as well.
Other Thoughts: Nothing on this board is amazing, but it gets the job done. Great for a budget build, if you're using some variation of Linux. Terrible for a Windows PC.

Good Board
Pros: Fully supported by Ubuntu 7.10 out of the box. Everything worked as expected on installation.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Some of the other reviews claim this board isn't supported by Linux. This is not true. Intel opens all of it's hardware specs so the open source community can write good drivers. The people who said that Linux wouldn't recognize the peripherals on the board need to run a more recent kernel.

To those so called high tech pepople
Pros: This mobo is absolutely good without any doubt. What elso mobo manufacture can compete with Intel in the world.
Cons: Nothing.
Other Thoughts: I see so many other "so-called high tech people" around here. Intel Even Intel is the leading manufacture, it dosen't mean their mobo won't have any problem. The guy from the 1st flr. has no konwledge for PC assembly at all. These people ususally have 3 main characteristics of none sense of PC assembly. They are "no knowledge", "no reading of their brains" and "no admitting of their stupidity".

Excellent, but care w. XP
Pros: Great board at a great price. Includes excellent (for non-gamers) video, 5.1 audio, all the options needed.
Cons: for some - only 2 SATA ports
Other Thoughts: If you are installing XP, you MUST: 1.) upgrade BIOS newer than 0246 (use the latest) 2.) BIOS setting: Configure SATA as IDE 3.) use XP install CD with SP2 without any of these the install will crash.

Good Mobo!
Pros: Intel boards always seen to be the easiest builds I ever do. This board was no exception. Their driver install routine is a no-brainer. Running XP, no configuration issues whatsoever. Would buy it again.
Cons: None that I have found.

Avoid it
Pros: Doesn't explode in your face, horribly scarring you and transforming you into some kind of super villain.
Cons: Just about everything else. It's extremely picky with memory if you can get it to boot. My board had a bad BIOS right out of the box. Once I flashed a new one, it was all downhill. I actually managed to get windows installed if that's what you could call it.
Do yourself a favor and if you need an IGP get a nice uATX board instead.

Does not work on Linux
Pros: I don't know if this board works on Windows or not.
Cons: Basically this board just does not work on any Linux distribution at all. Linux does not recognize chip set on the board and it fails to boot up. We have to a lot of twisting on configuration to make it work but still buggy. Eventually we had to take out of this board and replace with a Gygabyte board that works perfectly for our need.

Solid Board
Pros: Solid board, worked great out of the box, more than enough expansion ports, ability to configure SATA drives as IDE is mint for installing XP.
Cons: If interested in gaming, either get a separate video card, or an Intel board with the X3100 video.

Works Great
Pros: Built in gigabit ethernet, onboard video - great if you are building a budget system. Intel also does more board testing than other manufacturers and provides reference schemtics to everyone else. Not great business practice for them, but they have to ensure that their design works well.
Cons: Based on other reviews does not work on Linux very well. Will test on Ubuntu soon.
Other Thoughts: Works great out of the box. I have a Core 2 Duo E6750 and 2 gigs of DDR2 667 ram. Even though XP does not have SATA drivers during the install you can change the BIOS settings in the advanced menu by selecting IDE only. XP then installs directly onto the SATA drive. My guess is the board has some soft of onboard IDE -> SATA conversion. As far as people running into problems with the board starting up only once/twice, then blue screening and dying... it really makes me wonder if they are using correct ESD handling procedures.

The board suck
Pros: none
Cons: This board is not working on Linux distributions. I have got this board for a few months so far. We have very very hard time to make the board working on Fedora and other Linux distributions. The problem is in the BIOS. You need to make pci to pci=nommconf to boot up on Linux. Also, the onboard NIC card does not work either.

Intel Motherboard
Pros: NONE
Cons: What do you want? This is an Intel board; don't buy from Intel if you want good quality. After the big lay off from Intel their CPU's have gotten better, but from just looking at the picture you can tell how cheep this board cheep is. If you want good quality try Biostar, or MSI (this is the year 2007 if you read this in 2008 this may not be true any more) This board is $104.99 You can but a much better Biostar or MSI board for $20 to $40 less.
Other Thoughts: Look at the picture of this board, just from looking at it you can tell how cheep this board is.

somewhat okay
Pros: supports my quad core very well, runs 64bit vista well, wonderful onboard HD audio
Cons: IO controller and memory controller (both have heatsinks) overheat at 75c (my case is well ventilated!) and cause my machine to shut off. Processor stays at around 45c with the stock heatsink so that isn't the issue. My GeForce 8800GTS blocks the memory controller heatsink from getting any airflow.. so overall its a bad configuration - and blocks some of the SATA connectors from being easily accessible.
Other Thoughts: Wish I didn't have to have a box fan blowing into the side of the PC to keep it from overheating.........

Not to impressed
Pros: Cheap price, with a fair amount of nice features. It's an intel.
Cons: Placement of sata slots to close for easy removal and installation, didn't read my extreme performance ram at the right timings. It has built in graphx (bleh). I know there's os software to finetune board settings, but it would be nice to be able to finish the os install first without issues:/ read below
Other Thoughts: I had to rma it, after 10 installs of windows xp pro, I had random different errors on many different things. Including, ram, floppy controller, built in nic. Got it to install once, but no network capability, even after getting it to actually find the network hardware, and forcing addresses, + checking for conflicting irqs. Pretty sure the board was just faulty though. I'd give it a 2 because of this but, the price and the built in 1gig eth, 1394 and sound make up a LOT of my thought on this board. Huh, it's amazing to think when 1394 came out cheap cards where 250 bucks, now its built into a 100 dollar mb. Give em a year or 2 and we'll have built in ppu's too. ,,,, yes I am an intel boi, and proud of it :P

2 Dead Boards
Pros: Intel, G33
Cons: Lacks raid, and I have received 2 bad boards now. Both boot once then hang up on the sata screen before the rest of the bios loads. This is with or without any sata components hooked up, and even when the only thing plugged into the board is ram, cpu, power (both). I've tried 2 sets of known good cpu's and ram on both boards and they're both messed up somehow. I've installed hundreds of intel boards over the years and I've never received 2 back to back bad boards... Everything has been swapped including the power supplies too!
Other Thoughts: I think intel's QA department let this one slip through. May be an entire bad batch of these suckers.

Excellent basic board
Pros: Works great. Fast FSB support.
Cons: A little slow to initially post. No Windows Server 2003 support.
Other Thoughts: If I'd done a little more research, I'd have seen that there's no Windows 2003 drivers. I've been testing Windows Home Server and wanted to test it on a new board. The lack of drivers didn't stop me but I should've done my research. Other than that, it works great and, when I'm done testing, will become part of a great little Vista computer.

Not impressed
Pros: none
Cons: It could not boot off a esb cdrom or a usb flash drive. It could boot from a usb floppy. Could not boot any 64 bit version of linux. The whole purpose I got this board was to have on board video. It works with 32 bit linux but that serves no purpose when you have a 64 bit board. This was the first Intel board ahve ever bought and will be the last.

One little problem...
Pros: This is a follow up to the "I like it." post. Yes, it is still a nice board.
Cons: Still none really, but see the other thoughts.
Other Thoughts: One thing I have discovered, a small oversight, is that the USB ports will not work unless "legacy USB support" is disabled in the BIOS. I am running XP PRO 64bit and this seems to be a problem regardless of the MOBO manufacturer. So, it is likely a MS thing more than a Intel thing.

I like it !!!
Pros: It just works...
I haven't gotten fancy with it since it is my first build. Runs XP 64 bit well.
Cons: It seems to me like the I/O shield doesn't fit very well, but it works and nobody really sees it anyway.
Other Thoughts: Plenty of SATA connections for most needs. A second IDE connection would be nice.

Eggcellent
Pros: No problems, booted up first try. Continually having random problems with msi, asus, and biostar boards of the same price range, and not wanting SLI, I decided to go with Intel itself. Seems pretty solid.
biostar was causing computer to reset and bsod randomly. and it's audio was making noises whenever computer processing anything. This board resolved both problems.
any options you'd expect in bios, customizability and such.
Firewire--why hasn't this become standard?? so happy this board has it.
heatsinks run cool
Cons: things that are being phased out: no parallel port no serial port only 1 IDE (i have to use a promise card) only 3 PCI slots
But I knew all of this, and realize it's going to be all PCI-E and all USB ports within a few years.
---
Has some weird features I've only saw from intel--> frontpanel connectors are wack colors w/ no + and - indication; F2 for setup; strange layout for I/O; sata's are layed out mirrored... the keys/cable direction, that is.
Could use more fan connections, like pair up them together.
BIOS is different. it "lags", and just some little things that you have to get used to. still has any feature you'd need though, and then some.
Other Thoughts: Have not used onboard video--runs my 7950gtSC great.
well see how long it lasts, hoping for the best.

Dead on Arrival
Pros: It's an Intel board.
Cons: Wouldn't boot, or even beep for errors. Double checked all components and the setup, and the board was dead. RMA'd to Newegg, they were very kind and courteous.

Rock Solid
Pros: Rock Solid, booted right up with no problems, very clean layout, excellent instructions included.
Cons: The I/O shield was tough to install.
Other Thoughts: If you want a reliable off the shelf system to build this is a great mobo for you. System Specs: E6600 2gb Corsair ddr2800 WD80gb GF8600
