Disappointed
Pros: Tolerant of lesser quality memory. Fits into the case OK. CPU fits into the socket, boards line up OK. That's about it.
Cons: Slow, plain vanilla motherboard. Ethernet just died. Needs floppy to load drivers, but no legacy floppy interface (USB "works" OK, maybe). Intermittent problems with SATA. Feature thin BIOS with lots of options that don't do much.
Other Thoughts: After building over a hundred PCs, this is my first Intel board. I'll send this one back to Intel and hope they give one back that works. I think I'll go back to ASUS motherboards.

2nd Failed Motherboard
Pros: Minus some problems getting the BIOS to update (the CD method would not work unless I manually ran the update commands, the automated method would not work.), the board has had zero issues running Vista 64 and now Windows7 64.
Cons: My first board was DOA, I've had this new board running for abotu 9 months as my primary PC. The board LED shows "Green" and when I hit the power button, the fans spin for a split second, but thats all it does now.
Other Thoughts: I've been building PCs and working with stuff like this long enough that I wanted a rock solid board that I could setup once and just forget; I don't want to spent time tinkering on stuff like I did in the past.
I've had problems with other vendors boards, but never had a problem with an Intel board... never. That is until this board. Hopefully the RMA process with Intel goes well.

Good MB
Pros: Easy to install. No on-board video to deal with. Good amount of PCI Slots. Good amount of RAM slots.
Cons: Doesn't seem to support Enhanced Intel® Speedstep Technology. This is a disappointment since most of the time the computer is idle. It only needs full power for playing games and processing video.
Other Thoughts: Good board for the price.

Intel DP35DP Motherboard
Pros: Nice features for Multi-Media system. Has Firewire port. I'm using the system for my audio recording studio with Vista 64 Bit (and Sonar 8 recording software).
Cons: The board had to be replaced by Intel as it would not report any board monitoring parameters except the CPU temps.
Other Thoughts: There are probably a lot better boards available but for the price it is a good buy.

Good for the price.
Pros: The directions are OUTSTANDING, everything is very easy to read and comprehend. Came with a sticker to place on the inside of the case that has every single port labelled, including all the +/- for the power connectors & L.E.D.s. Great board for someone just getting started into building their own gear.
Cons: Not the most advanced board, but I wasn't looking for that. I doubt this is an over-clocker's best choice as I didn't even see any options for over-clocking and nothing was included in the directions (although I didn't look very hard for it either). A little on the flimsy side, PCI ports did not line up exactly with my case, however they do line up enough to work properly with a card inserted. No on board video, this proved to be a pain when I was having video card issues. Onboard sound is weak as well, but if you care about music/movies/gaming audio you'll already have your own card.
Other Thoughts: You basically know what you are getting with a board in this price range. Very simple to install, but also basic. Highly recommended for someone looking to build their first/second rig.

Pros: Stable, works as advertised (after flashing BIOS)
Cons: Not really an overclocker's board. Even after flashing the BIOS, I couldn't see how one would adjust CPU settings. But then again, I didn't really snoop around very hard.
Other Thoughts: I used this motherboard to build a VMWare ESXi box. It works great with ESXi. However, I first loaded Linux on it and noticed that it wasn't detecting the Intel VT support of the quad core Q9650 I had plugged into it. A BIOS update solved that. Another thing I noticed was when I booted up the Xen kernel that comes with Debian Linux 5, only one core was recognized and the Intel VT support was again not being recognized. I didn't investigate this any further because I decided to go with ESXi instead of Xen, and like I already said, everything works fine with ESXi.

Good foundation for heavy working machine
Pros: Board specs are the best I could find for intensive video production. Works great and smooth set-up. Easy install with Windows XP SP3. No need for any extra disc for install. The lack of the normal mouse port can cause great problems if on bootup if fails to recognize the mouse. In that case, its "Houston, we have a problem!!". It's been in use constantly for 3 days, doing heavy professional wedding videos, is lightning fast, capture and rendering causing no problems or delays. Intel has the quality for this type use, I haven't found it in other boards I have used.
Cons: Not really a con, but a consideration. System's Failure to find and install the mouse on bootup, and asking for user action requiring use of a mouse, which doesn't work, can turn your hair grey way before your time. The USB keyboard, if not recognized, eliminates your access to CMOS. Both of the above happened to me, now grey headed. :(
Other Thoughts: This m/b, Antec Sonata III case with earthwatts 500 P/S, Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4ghz, Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, Kingston 4GB DDR2 800, EVGA 512 GeForce 9800GT, WD Caviar 640GB 7200 32MB, Win XP SP3. (had to custom build this unit to stay away from Vista)

Great general purpose board
Pros: Reasonable cost. Bullet proof, supports a wide variety of CPU's, and cost effective memory. I've used one of these in a media center PC (Vista 64), and recently bought another for a pre-teen's machine (Windows 7-64) Both function perfectly well for their purposes. Fan speed control makes for a relatively quiet machine, except at the very lowest speeds, where the duty cycle pulses on the 3 pin headers produce an annoying sound, at least with the fans I've tried.
Cons: Can't find the consumer Ir kit which is advertised on the papers in the box, and on Intel's web site. This would have been a nice plus for the media box.
Other Thoughts: Serial port header available from cables unlimited. Wish that all the fan power headers were 4 pin, but that's a con for all boards I've looked at.

Pluses & Minuses
Pros: I bought two of these boards.
The one I use with Vista Ultimate was a breeze to set up. Vista allows you to use a CD driver disk during setup - so no 'Where's the floppy drive' complaint.
It ran a little warm, so I got a ZeroTherm BTF90 fan and now I have icycles on it!
If this was the only one of these boards I bought I would give it 4 stars. (What is up with the stock fans?)
Cons: On the other one I use XP. Two problems with this one: I run XP on it, and it was defective.
Intel obviously did not think this thru - they included the floppy diskette, but not FD controller. if you have Vista, you don't need the floppy; if you use XP, you have use the floppy - but can't. I bought a $15 used USB floppy drive on the interweb.
The board would not recognize my keyboard - so I went down the path of updating the BIOS. Not bad if you have another PC and can download the CD based BIOS updater. Of course, you have disconnect any hard drives first - otherwise the BIOS tries to boot from a blank hard drive, and - RIGHT - you can't otherwise tell the BIOS to boot from the CD if the keyboard doesn't work!!
The CD BIOS updater worked fine for updating the BIOS - but did not fix the problem of recognizing the keyboard. Ultimately, Intel was very good about swapping out the board.
Other Thoughts: The new (refurb) board they sent seemed fine for about a month. After that, i started getting a BSOD every 36 hours or so. So QC seems to be an issue.

Quality intel product, sort of...
Pros: A quality Intel product that I'm sure will last forever just like all the others I have built over the years.
Cons: Lackluster 64-bit Vista support... Comes with a floppy disk with XP 64-bit drivers on it... but has no floppy header on the mainboard?!? Downloaded the latest RAID drivers from Intel's website and 64-bit Vista still does not recognize the onboard RAID when Rapid Recover is enabled. Had to turn off the new Rapid Recover feature and switch back to standard striping/mirroring for it to recognize the drives. Also after installing the LATEST Intel drivers, I got errors and needed to download more updates for the Intel drivers and software.
It is unusual for Intel and Microsoft to not work well together.
Other Thoughts: Besides the Rapid Recover not working in Vista and some other minor software glitches, everything else on the board works flawlessly. No overclocking features whatsoever, but Intel boards aren't for overclockers anyways.
-Only 3 out of 5 eggs due to lackluster support for 64-bit Vista, perhaps this board was released a little too early.

Please Read
Pros: This is a great board, I love the absence of most legacy pieces.
Cons: the board is warped on the North West corner by almost 1/4??? Once mounted it's obviously been pulled back to level, but I've never seen that before...
Other Thoughts: ok, this was totaly my fault - the board is not bios capable of overclocking... What was I thinking? If someone comes across a bios hack to allow overclocking I'd like to know. May have to buy another board...

Stable and Steady
Pros: Fairly well featured Cheap Very reliable
Cons: Limited BIOS options Not a top performer
Other Thoughts: I bought this for a Core 2 Duo CentOS (x86_64) server, I went with Intel for high reliability over all else. This is supposed to be a multimedia desktop board but for a home server it's been a champ, not a single glitch or driver problem.

What can I say
Pros: Had this board for three months now. I have not had the first problem out of this board. Solid Intel construction and technology coupled with their amazing website which provides all needed information for upgrades. Full x64 compliance drivers. It's just perfect. If you know anything about PC's you know what your looking for in a motherboard. The price was amazing and had everything I was looking for. It does not have PS/2 ports and only has one IDE port (I wish that was gone too) which in my honest opinion is a very good thing. PS/2 and IDE is dead. If your looking for a board with those, well, look elsewhere or get with the rest of the crowd.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Intel Media Series DP35DP Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 GeIL black Dragon Gaming Series 4GB DDR2 800 XFX NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 core 216 55nm Note: Running Crysis on Enthusiast settings @ 1440x900 w/AAx4 and V-Sync @ 60FPS

OK, some issues
Pros: Once installed the board is very stable. Everything is easy to get to.
Cons: I didn't notice until I got it the board it had no PS/2 connectors for keyboard or mouse. I had planned to use an older mouse and keyboard and had to buy new.
Also, after installing XP Pro, I ran the auto install of drivers off the included disk. That somehow disabled the USB ports, meaning no mouse or keyboard. I had to reinstall Windoze to get them working again. Big pain.
Intel tells you to flash the bios with a jump drive that is bootable, but they don't tell you that it is a major pain to make a jump drive bootable.
Other Thoughts: Don't be fooled by the odd way the board measures CPU temp. I was worried that my CPU was running at 70C--way too hot for me. What Intel does is to tell you how much your CPU has to heat up before it starts to shut down. CPU seem to run cool on the stock fan.
Bottom line - the board works well, but I expected a little more polished product from Intel.

Speedy MB
Pros: Fast instruction sets, able to using Quad Core CPU, enough space for 8 GB memory with room to add RAM Coolers. Great sound with Toslink connector, three fans connectors.
Cons: Only one-has capability for CIR but cannot find anyone who makes CIR to take advantage of this feature.
Other Thoughts: Installed a ThermalTake Extreme Spirit II Northbridge Cooler over the Intel Memory Controller Hub - cooled it down to the nominal 66C with the MB temperature at 35C. This is a tricky -uses hooks- but even in a vertical position the cooler holds fast. Only do this if you have good guidance.

Great buy
Pros: Great CPU, does it's job, doesn't get too hot. Intel Core 2 duo, 3.0HZ!!!
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I am using the stock fan, seems to keep my CPU pretty cool. I don't OC so don't feel the need to purchase another CPU cooler.

Stable
Pros: Nice cheap board overall. Works very well with intel chip.
Cons: The voltage and Mhz of your memory should be right on with this board. I purchased a little higher voltage RAm and it will only run withone chip. Make sure you get 1.8V @ 667 or 800Mhz and nothing lower than 5-5-5-15 timing.
Also, the DDR2 slots are very close to the PCI x16. If i have a larger video card it might not fit.
Other Thoughts: needs to include a few mote brass spacers, I was 3 short.

Not Happy So Far
Pros: frequent bios updates
Cons: This board has been trouble. RAID has disconnected three times, I quit trying to use RAID, got tired of restarting from scratch each time. Many many many BSOD's , i have swapped vid card/ram/and PSU, so its obviously a mobo issue. Have built three others with same mobo, so I think this mobo is messed up.

Pros: I created a dual boot machine with this motherboard using XP Media Center and Vista Ulimate 64 OEM. I created 2 volumes of Intel RAID 1(one OS on each volume). I like Vista and evrything seems to work well. I installed XP first as recommended, which is difficult to do without a floppy. I created the 2nd volume of RAID 1 and installed Vista. Much easier install. My old MB ddies one day and I wanted a modest upgrade cost and this was it.
Intel DP35DPM (from Newegg) Intel Q9400 (from Newegg) Vista Ultimate 64 OEM (from Newegg) Crucial Memory 8 GB 1.8v 5-5-5 PNY Verto GeForce 9400GT
Cons: Difficult XP install without the right USB floppy drive.
Other Thoughts: Vista is a lot nicer than I thought it would be. I am satisfied with a very snappy modestly costing sytem.

may or may not be write for you
Pros: Very easy to install and worked well with most of my hardware.
Cons: Tried 3 different types of graphics cards and none of them worked. Audio stoped working after a few days. No onboard video so if your graphics card dont work then you are out of luck.
Other Thoughts: I would only recommend this to someone that isnt into high tech gaming. Tryed 2 high end graphics cards on it and they didnt work. Had to use my old Geforce 7600gt instead of the ones i wanted.

Stable!!
Pros: Very easy install, everything that I plugged in was recognized and worked without a hitch. Very quick reliable motherboard so far.
Cons: Absolutely nothing so far. Although, it would be nice to have a few more options in the bios, but that's what made the install soe easy in the first place, so no real complaints.
Other Thoughts: Paired up with the e8400 core 2 duo, and 4GB of patriot ram and a HD2600xt radeon graphics card. I was worried about the ram not working because I originally ordered the wrong stuff I figured I'd give it a try before I got rid of it. I accidentally got ram that was meant to work at 2.2v instead of the 1.8v that this board supports. But like I said, no problems and this has been the fastest computer I have ever owned.

Easy Mobo for the Price
Pros: Really easy install, used new corsair twin 6400dhx, 2gigs. Intel Core 2 duo E7300 Wolfdale 2.66hz. Pny Pci E video card 512mb. Thing is pretty quick. This is my second build. I'm using Segate Berracuda Sata 250mb HD and Sata DVD Rw. Might add another 2gigs of memory but its quick right now
Cons: none, works great

Great Board, but 6+ month old BIOS
Pros: Good value for 775 MoBo, handling 45 nm quad chips. Put in Core 2 Quad 9550 and 2x2GB AData DDR2 800 with heat spreader. Per specs, both should work with current BIOS's.
Cons: Board shipped 12/15/08, but wouldn't boot w/ that RAM. Eventually changed to DDR2 667 and it booted. Then found BIOS to be 0437 of 5/21/08, whereas 0484 of 8/5/08 or later needed for 45nm CPU and, apparently, 800 speed RAM. Bad show because computer won't have Windows for a while. BIOS data much too large for floppy, beside board does not support floppy directly. Had to learn how to make an USB Thumb drive bootable to be able to update BIOS. That spread over 4 days. Now 800 RAM works with 0507 of 12/2/08.
Other Thoughts: newegg needs to ship more current boards or Intel needs to update BIOS's more promptly. There were 3 revs since the BIOS on the board. I'm lucky that it functioned with the 9550 CPU. Intel does not (or no longer) provides ISO images of the BIOS's - which can easily be made into bootable CD's. Neither my Nero nor Roxio worked to correctly make self-booting CD's with files needed for BIOS upgrade. Then took me quite a while before I learned howto make bootable Thumb drive. Intel disclaims responsibility for telling you how to make either bootable CD's or USB Thumb drives. Further has dead links to other's instructions for doing it.

Great Motherboard
Pros: Just did a massive upgrade on my HTPC and grabbed this board for price and features, I have not been disappointed. Everything was easy to match up from the chart to the board so everything went together smooth. Been running for a little more than a day now without a hiccup.
Cons: None.

Great Board
Pros: Built a Vista Home Premium PC with this motherboard about a year ago, It was my first self-built system so I was a little nervous, but everything went fine, no problems with the board. I would recommend it. It has been very stable for me. I did use the recommended 1.8 Volt memory.

Great so far.
Pros: Have had an Athlon for the last 4 years, but it seems that Intel is back on track. Just did my first build with about 99% of the stuff coming from Newegg and everything went together beautifully. Hope I'm not talking too soon.
Glad you're here, Newegg.
Cons: None whatsoever.
Other Thoughts: Intel's website is great for extended help if you run into trouble.

Long-Term Reliability
Pros: Solid and generally stable Performance. Intel is dilligent in providing continued bios and driver updates--which I have updated equally dilligently.
Cons: Few. The lack of an SPDIF input is puzzling for a "media" board. Chipset runs a little hot.
Other Thoughts: I've owned this motherboard for over a year now and have run it almost continuously during that time period. Other than the hiccup involved in setting up RAID, where a floppy drive is required for a board that has no floppy support (you must purchase a floppy drive with a USB interface), the installation is a relatively easy one. Some of the on-board connections are in less-than-convenient places, but that problem is a general one these days. My biggest beef with the design is that the Northbridge and Southbridge chips run hot. My case does a good job at cooling, and Intel's diagnostic utility indicates that these chips are well-within recommended temperature range, but I did notice occasional BSODs that have dissappeard since I installed auxillary fans (Antec Spot Cools) over the chips. I would have been happy to pay the few extra dollary for clip-on heatsink fans. In spite of being within "normal" temps, the chips are happier when they run as cool as possible.

Pros: Rock solid integrated sound and LAN. Nice to a move to finally get rid of PS/2 ports and IDE connections. Time for those to seriously go the way of the dinosaurs. Highest FSB and DDR2 support.
Cons: It still has one IDE left to get rid of, but not a con honestly.
Other Thoughts: People reviewing this board and other products on NewEgg.com seriously need to stop thinking they know something about PC components and what works with what. They are giving products a bad name because they seriously have no clue how to properly and safely (static electricity anyone) build a PC. By the way, stop overclocking or at least buy serious overclocking components and stop thinking everything is built for you overclockers.

sorta nice, not for me though
Pros: Very nice board, no onboard vid, no PS/2.... no extras that I won't use. RAID avail.
Cons: My mirror won't stay put. I have updated the BIOS, checked my array, checked my disks outside of the machine in a PE environment, they're fine. I'm not doing anything to put stress on the machine but running COD4 and using it as a media center to my TV. I'm not completely satisfied with this board. I'm impressed with XFX, think I'll go with them.....
In the meantime I'm taking down the array, Formatting one drive to my liking, transferring settings and docs from the other, then ghosting to the second once everything looks fine. I'd rather ghost once a month than deal with my machine being down for the third time. I did check my last BSOD error and it was related to the RAID drivers.
I won't bash intel, this board has been fine otherwise. I won't say don't buy it, etc. I just won't buy again, I think there's a more hassle-free board for me elsewhere
Other Thoughts: C2D E6750, 2 Barracuda 750gb, XFX 9600 GT Alpha Dog, 3gb Crucial DDR2 667, Media Center 2k5, Antec Ninehundred case

Solid Board
Pros: Very stable board, fast boot up time, no legacy connections to get in the way. Works great with Vista x64.
Cons: None using Vista, RAID drivers would be extra work uning XP.

Stable, High-Quality, Board that doesn't need a Therapist
Pros: I have used this board as my primary desktop PC mobo since 9/2007 without any problems. I have had dozens of mobos over the years, but this board I have kept the longest. My Core 2 Quad 6600 works flawlessly, I have a RAID 1 array that works flawlessly thanks to Intel's Matrix Storage. I have the board in a true "mid-sized" case, and have never had a heat problem. I ran an EVGA 8800 GTS w/ no issues, and now have an EVGA 260 GTX w/ no heat issues at all. The card is MASSIVE, but it fits perfectly fine. Total satisfaction. Unless you need DDR3 support for some reason, this board will do you fine.
Cons: Zero in over a year. Rock solid.
Other Thoughts: My System:
Core 2 Quad 6600 at 2.4 GHz Intel DP35DP motherboard 4 GB 800 MHz Super Talent memory (4 x 1 GB) EVGA 260 GTX overclocked Lite-On Blu-ray + HD DVD player/ DVD+RW Burner On-board HD sound w/ Logitech z5500 speakers Quality 80+ 500W PSU

Rock solid board
Pros: Intel first party board. Very high quality. Good amount of features for the money (Firewire, ESATA, LOADS of SATA ports, SPDIF OUT).
Cons: The audio was spotty, when using Intel HD audio drivers and a Logitech 5.1 system the audio would be crackly and poppy. (I popped in my X-Fi, and solved that problem).
Memory slots a LITTLE too close to the PCI-E X16 slot, but I still managed to get my hulking mammoth 9800GTX in the slot.
Other Thoughts: I'm not an overclocker. I don't have the time to mess with it. I got this board to be serviceable and stable. I play lots of games with it, and they all work exceptionally well. I don't need the high end frills of some MOBOS out there. This one works well each time, and doesn't ever have weird windows errors. It rules.

Works fine for me
Pros: It's a true blue Intel board, it's stable. Zero problems for 3 months now.
Cons: It's a a true blue Intel board, not a lot of frills for the price tag.
Other Thoughts: As with any new MB, I flashed the BIOS to the latest revision, made sure I had all the latest drivers, and slip streamed the SATA drivers onto a Windows XP Pro OEM CD. No problems, approx 3 months of operation.

Problematic
Pros: Seems to be really reliable once you get it up and running. 3 fan headers, good fan speed options in bios. Putting on the heatsink wasn't much of a chore. It has a mix of both PCI and PCI express slots.
Cons: A strange board. I couldn't get this thing running for like 2 weeks. I assumed it was bad memory, bad processor, etc. Eventually I got it to boot up (I have now idea HOW), and quickly upgraded the BIOS. After that it works fine. Chipset gets really hot, I hope that heatsink is sufficient. intel provides the sata driver on a floppy disk, but the board has no floppy drive connector! No legacy ports, that means no Parallel, no PS/2, no floppy, and I am unsure if the serial port header even works. The header is a LONG ways away from the back panel, so you need a special ribbon cable like the kind sold for Shuttle XPC's. Bios has no overclocking options. Not an issue for me, but for others it could be.

Nice board
Pros: Works great - have not experienced any issues.
Cons: This was my first computer build, instructions for installation of RAID driver prior to OS installation could have been better, but I did get it working fine.

Good board but a few minor quirks
Pros: Good price. Very stable. Good performance.
Manuals do a very good job of showing the various headers to make hooking up USB ports, power, reset and other switches very easy. I’ve had some other motherboards where this becomes a guessing game.
Upgrade the BIOS to the latest version. The BIOS that the board shipped with was a couple of revs old and the BIOS setup screens were very unstable. The new BIOS works perfectly. One method to flash the BIOS is to burn a bootable CD from the ISO image on Intel’s website. This is easy to do and works flawlessly.
Cons: Nothing major but I do have a few minor quibbles. The onboard NIC (Intel chipset) isn’t supported by ESXi. Surprising since ESXi supports almost every Intel card out there.
The onboard NIC also isn’t supported by a stock BartPE boot CD. Ubuntu 8.04 recognizes this and uses the e1000 driver.
There is no onboard video. Having a cheapo basic chipset would be nice to have.
No PS2 connectors for keyboard or mouse. The USB keyboard/mouse works great but this could be a problem for some. There are also no onboard parallel or serial ports. This means that you’ll need to connect your printer either via USB or Ethernet.
The onboard IDE controller is also mildly strange. I have some bootable DOS CD’s that I sometimes need to boot. Normally I can boot these CD’s with “CDROM support” on most any computer but with this board it doesn’t recognize the controller. (Very minor issue except that I needed to boot a DOS CD to upgrade the firmware in a Adaptec RAID card.)
Other Thoughts: I bought this board (open box version) along with a e8500 Core2 duo for a home ESXi virtualization project. (It would have been nice if the open box version came with the RF shield but I knew this when buying.) Since it’s basically going to host several guest OS’s I don’t need a hot, high powered 3D graphics accelerator card. So having even a basic video chipset onboard would have been nice. Luckily I had an old video card available so this wasn’t a big deal for me.
The original BIOS that came with the board was junk. The BIOS setup screen was very unstable. Upgrading the BIOS to the latest version fixed everything.
Beware that if you want to turn on hardware Virtualization Technology support (Intel VT) for your supported processor that this setting is in the *security* section of the BIOS. I couldn’t find it for a while since I expected it to be on the same CPU config page where you can set the clock speed, hyper-threading, cache-control, enable the 2nd core and etc.

Good
Pros: plenty of options for the price, nothing to complain about!
Cons: nothing really, if your lookin for a ps2 connection obviously dont get this.

Foreward thinking
Pros: I had some DDR2800 memory on hand that had been sitting for about a year. I had taken a loss on it because the ram was not compatible with a customer's motherboard and I only realized it after replacing everything else. Of course by that time it was beyond newegg's refund period so I had to take a replacement instead. Anyway, I needed a board that supported DDR2 and this one filled the bill. I was also able to migrate to a newer PCI Express videocard from my old AGP one and to a Core 2 Duo from my aging Athlon XP 3000+
Cons: Board doesn't support my ram at the faster setting of 4-4-4-13 at 2.1v only at the SPD of 5-5-5-18. I'm just glad to finally have a use for the ram.
Other Thoughts: CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Motherboard: Intel DP35DP Videocard: eVGA e-Geforce 9800 GTX+ Superclocked Ram: Corsair XMMS2 DDR2 800

What I expected...
Pros: Friend bought an Intel board and never had problems. I bought Soyo, Abit, and ASUS and had nothing but problems. I couldn't figure out why I already had problems with my hardware. The Intel boards are built with amazing quality and I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a stable system.
Cons: Audio connectors were placed oddly around the board making it impossible for me to use my HD audio with my case cables. Rather obnoxious.
Other Thoughts: No overclocking... kind of a bummer that I didn't do my research.

Great board but i had problems
Pros: So this board was super easy to install. The bios flashing utility was like butter. It booted up first try no problem. It is quick and beautiful. It would be 100% perfect except for the cons
Cons: I read that other reviewers had this issue. I run 4 monitors with dual graphic cards. This board has issues running dual graphic cards. I spent like 30 hours trying to figure this out. I tried 7 different graphic cards. I even bought a PCI express x1 card. Basically... it cannot run two graphic cards if one of the cards is a pci express. It runs two regular pci cards just fine. I am not sure if this is just a defect in this particular board... or this model. I flashed the bios. I tried everything. Now i am sending it back after countless hours wasted and tons of stress under my belt. If you want to ever use two graphic cards.... do not buy this board. Others have said this board has issues running 2 cards. Dont chance it. Its not worth the time and frustration.
If you 100% definitely will never want to run two graphic cards then this board is amazing for the price and features.
On another note... newegg rocks!
Other Thoughts: Newegg is the best!

Great MB`
Pros: High quality MB, with many features, the fan controls for case and CPU fans is awesome... 3 sets of USB2.0 headers, Firewire, and eSata what isn't there to like. No FDD but who cares move on, or get a USB FDD the board will boot whatever you want to from USB if need be. Support for 45nm CPUs and quad core.
Cons: I ordered Mushkin DDR2 8GB(4x2GB) Ram and had issues. The board would run with 4GB(2x2GB) of that Ram, but whatever reason not 8GB, so I ran down to the local PC shop and got 8GB(4x2GB) of Super Talent DDR2800 1.8v Ram and is running rock solid!!
Other Thoughts: Not an overclockers board at all, if you want stable and good performance look no further, and its QUIET!

Kinda Lame
Pros: Decent value for the price, Intel brand, pretty good Intel support and bios updates, ect.
Cons: Intel RAID drivers are horrible. I was running RAID 0 and have had the RAID fail twice now, first time lasted about 3 months, second time about 4 months, had to reinstall from scratch. Not running RAID anymore. Lots and lots of BSOD's, will not run 4gigs ram with vista32(maybe a windows issue I know). I think this board is a lemon, have three other systems that have had no problems with same mobo.

Pros: This board worked perfectly out of the box with corsair dmx cas 4 modules. In my midsize tower case, there is plenty of room for the modules and fan. the modules have the wicked looking heatsink attached. For me however, there is no room for the add-on cooling fans for the DMX's. After reading carefully all the reviews for this board, I was at Intel's site, downloading the latest BIOS. I flashed the bios first via bootable cd, it took 3 minutes and was done! I am using XP Pro SP-3. I slipstreamed the SP3 pack onto my SP1 CD, made it bootable and Everything was found! I didn't need to hassle with Sata drivers like others have had to endure. XP loaded flawlessly and painlessly! Intel's drivers were quick and hassle free. i'm running the Intel 3.16ghz cpu, 4gigs ram, and this thing is lightning fast!
Cons: No ps/2 ports, no floppy port, really no legacy support. But in many ways, that's a positive.. I was not able to use use Intel's driver installation CD, the CD claimed the motherboard was not an intel!!
Other Thoughts: i'm running the Intel 3.16ghz cpu, 4gigs ram, and this thing is lightning fast! It's a good bang for your buck board, uses DDR2-800, cost for these is very low and vs. DDR3, the minimal extra speed doesn't really to me warrant the extra cost for RAM at this time.. DDR3 will come down in price probably next year, it'd be worthwhile until, but until then, this Intel P35 board will be good bang for your buck. Although it doesn't have the PS/2 connectors, or parallel port, serial ports, it does have lots of built on internal & external USB connectors! I am using the ps/2 to usb converter, and my old microsoft natural split and trackball work perfectly! If you really need a parallel port, you can get parallel port cards for cheap or get a usb to parallel adapter for cheap as well. You won't be disappointed with this board, just heed the comments from others and this board will install flawlessly and last for years!

Great EXSi board
Pros: works out of the box with EXSi 3i. Doesn't see onboard nic but saw my Intel NIC in it. Works fawlessly! Super quiet mobo! Also has eSATA!
Cons: NONYA!
Other Thoughts: Nice full board, looks like it would also be great for XP, Vista

Great HTPC Board
Pros: This board is great. Nice clean layout. Easy to get up and going. I used it to build a HTPC from the ground up. Booted up fine the first time I powered it on, installed Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and hooked it up to my plasma and 5.1 receiver. Great performance and great audio from this board. Haven't had any problems since... and it's been running for the last 7 months pretty much constantly.
Cons: Just a single PCIe slot, but not a big concern for me.
Other Thoughts: Using the E8400 processor, with 4GB corsair XMS2 ddr ram, couple of 320GB drives, and a OTA HD tuner. For those whining about no floppy drive connector, give me a break. Read the specs before you buy and think it through! Download the RAID drivers from Intel's site if you really can't get a USB floppy drive.

Stable Motherboard
Pros: This motherboard was easy to install. Setting up the bios is really simple. The layout is ok. It only has only 1 PCI Express slot which keeps cost down. The board is quad core capable.
Cons: I wish the board had 2 PCI Express Slots and DDR3 memory capability.
Other Thoughts: Only one complaint I have with this board is Intel advertises this as a VIIV capable motherboard. This is not accurate. Since Intel does not allow users to install the 1.7 VIIV software, VIIV will only work on XP MCE machines. Intel only allows companies like Dell to use and install the 1.7 VIIV software. The VIIV software 1.6 can be downloaded from DIRECTV and will work with Vista Ultimate Edition but not with the P35 chipset which this motherboard is. I was not happy when I talked to there tech support on this matter and they told me that I was not smart enough to build a system that only large companies can build computers. They told me to go buy an already built computer like a Dell. After a couple of days of searching, I found the software on a driver download site, installed the software and VIIV works. Intel VIIV is easy to setup. Dealing with Intel is not easy. I am an IT Specialist at a major University. The bottom line is Intel seems to not want to sell to the little guy.

ACHI and Floppy
Pros: Ouad Core capable.
Cons: Wish it had a DVI video output.
Other Thoughts: Those of you who are complaining about the RAID/ACHI drivers on the included floppy disc and the lack of a floppy drive connector on the motherboard...get an external usb floppy disc reader/writer! Do what I do before buying computer items...research the manufacture's website for details about the item's pros/cons.

Solid and Stable
Pros: Solid and stable.
Cons: Not a con for me, but there is no connector for a floppy drive on the board.
Other Thoughts: I purchased this board to stablalize my system after having to RMA two ASUS boards (I think it was a bad batch because up until those two I've never had an issue with ASUS). This board has definitely served it's purpose in providing a stable platform. I'm glad I came across this board and very glad my system is stable once again.
The included AHCI driver floppy was nice to find separate from the CD. Although there's a bit of irony per my con note...there is no floppy connection on the motherboard.

Decent board
Pros: Solid board that was simple to install. Readily found all the hardware attached and has functioned well with stressing the system by running Warhammer AOR, Firefox, antivirus, and Napster all at one time.
Cons: Single slot for video.
Other Thoughts: Upgraded from an AMD 64 chip/Soltek nForce 3 mobo/ Nvidia 6800 to this board/ a Q6600 chip/Nvidia 8800GT. Didn't have a single problem. Total of 3 reboots XP found all the drivers and I was on my way.

Flexible and extendable board
Pros: Cost effective way to design a high performance machine that can grow with you well into the future. Quality of Intel products allowed me to buy this board without any on-board graphics and my daughter to have it boot up perfectly the first time. Very good documentation.
Cons: Design con: Not designed for multiple graphic card (e.g. SLI) set-ups.
Other Thoughts: I oversaw my 17yo daughter's first PC build using this mobo. I was a little nervous as I never done a "grounds up" assembly either, just memory, hard drive and adding adapter cards. This board and its documentation, both in the box and online, allowed the build to go without a hitch.

I have never had a more difficult build
Pros: Dear lord, absolutley nothing
Cons: a. Need to upgrade BIOS immeidately or it will not boot. b. Does not accept Pentium D, Every site on the planet says this board accepts Pentium D except for Intel. Intel clearly details the only supported processors for this board. Someone got lazy and copied a so called "review" probably from CNET and didnt actually do thier homework. e. After latest successful BIOS update, Vista SP1 will BSOD. Changing BIOS drive settings does nothhing to resolve. Using storage controller drivers during vista install does nothing to resolve the issue. f. after successful BIOS upgrade, system continuously powers on / powers off. Some strange infinite power cycle, pulling the CMOS battery does not resolve the problem, nor does the BIOS Jumper on board. g. The system will not boot with 3 gigs of ram. The system wont boot with two gigs of ram, the system will only boot with one gig of ram. h. Sound is attached to the board, but NO BEEP CODES occur at time of failure.
Other Thoughts: Intel??!! What happened??? HELLO QUALITY CONTROL. This all happened this evening, within a period of 7 HOURS, two power supplies, multiple video cards, multiple sticks of RAM, mounting the board on card board, reseating the proc 3 times....
There is NO documentation included in Intel's site or in the BOX that would state a user would have to attempt to pull a rabbit out of a hat to get this board to work.
I wonder how the Gigabyte boards or EVGA are holding up these days?
Stay AWAY from this board.

BOXDP35DPM
Pros: Great stable board. Clean, easy to use bios. Great for business related builds.
I like that intel gives you the small things to make a build appear more OEM/Professional.
Cons: Not specific to this board but I wish Intel would not include RAID 5 on their southbridge. If you want to run RAID 5 get yourself a decent RAID card. $$$
Other Thoughts: Purchase Quantity = 1

Pros: Board was DOA, unable to provide Pros about it. Packaging was nice, comes with two SATA cables which is nice as well a e-SATA cable.
Cons: Board was DOA. Machine would power on and off, on its own. CPU and RAM tested good, other CPU and RAM in this motherboard... same result.
Other Thoughts: Newegg's return/replacement/rma policy requires reading a couple of times!
I can do an RMA:Replacement and get it back in a couple weeks or do an RMA:Refund and then purchase the same item... then call back in for a refund on shipping prices.
Sounds like a crossship, but they don't call it that!

Great board
Pros: This board is awesome. It recognized my RAID 0 right after passing the bios so I didn't have to re-configure RAID and re-install the OS. I previously had the 965 chipset motherboard and it broke. Buying the open box version of this board saves over $40 and it works right out of the box. Intel software is compatible across the boards. If you have other Intel board using the same driver and similar chipset, before taking your old parts apart, install the latest chipset and driver. It should work!
Cons: Motherboard only. The motherboard is wrapped inside bubble wrap. Not even the back panel was included. Don't expect much if you buy open box item.

Got my RMA
Pros: I think this would be an outstanding board. I was attracted to the Bus speed and the fact it is a socket 775.
Cons: It was DOA. Second Intel board I have bout that was DOA. One was from another supplier.
Other Thoughts: Newegg refunded my money very quickly without any problems.

excellent motherboard
Pros: easy to install, works great with Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz, 2 sticks of corsair XMS2 800 DDR2 memory 2GB, add a good video card, video/music player, a flat screen monitor (like the Chimei 22", good performer for a low price) and you will have an affordable, quiet computer that has no issues running vista (I got the 32bit premium system builder version from Newegg). It runs cooler and quieter than my previous Asus/Athlon64 combo. Highly recommended motherboard for a first time "I-think-I-can-do-it" type of person
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: read the instructions first, and get familiar with the hardware before start assembling and things will be a lot easier. I learned that a few years ago with my first project : )

Good board
Pros: This is a good board. I am running Raid 5 with 3 hds and 1 external b/u drive. I run XP and Core 2 Duo 4500 cpu. Everything runs great. I primarily use this for office productivity and some gaming. It has handled everything I have thrown at it. The cool thing is the board is fully upgradable depending on your budget. I started with 1 hd and now am running Raid 5.
Cons: Floppy drive support was a little bit of an issue but was overcome by getting a USB floppy and telling the bios to look for USB device. After that, Raid loaded perfectly.
Other Thoughts: What can I say? The board is fully upgradable, runs Raid 5, handles Sata with 1 IDE for my old DVD drive, can handle as many as 12 USB ports, the sound system is awesome with the right speakers, allows for my choice of video card, supports forward and aft cooling fans fully monitored. This is the best board for my first time building a machine. And I love the Warranty although I have never had to use it. It supports the Core2Quad processor too. Like I said, fully upgradable.

DP35DP
Pros: I ordered and built 25 computers based on this board for work. There were no problems. On the BIOS that came with the board, I was able to use Q6600s and E8500s with no problems.
Cons: No Floppy. A floppy disk comes with the board for XP RAID setup...
Other Thoughts: These computers run XP with no problems.

Pictures and Description are the most important
Pros: This is a solid board. I have had this board for about a year now and the only issue I had was a fluke that was solved by a cold restart. I'm thinking about building a HTPC and will definitely get this board again.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I've read through some previous reviews and I've noticed that people don't read the description for this board the way they ought to. The pictures of the board are there for a reason, there is no FDD connector and the pictures show that. This board was, in fact, made for Vista and it runs it like a champ (running Vista x64 Ultimate). I am really getting sick of people who claim this and that when this is their very first build.

Absolutely Terrible
Pros: None
Cons: Extrememly bad board. There is no FDD which means no floppy support. The bios was supposed to allow for a floppy emulator but that didn't pan out. While trying to load Windows I got a bad ram stop error and after testing the memory, which was good, I tried different memory and still got the same error. I RMA the board and will not make the same mistake again.
Other Thoughts: While reading the reviews for several mobo's it is apparent that everyone has received a DOA board at some time or other, so you take it with a grain of salt, BUT REALLY please listen when I tell you to stay away from this board. It is nothing but trouble. I wouldn't bother with it if it were priced below $25.

Great board. Update the BIOS.
Pros: Great inexpensive board for multimedia with many features. I have it running a Q6600 for a digital audio workstation. Stable especially with latest BIOS. Many who had problems simply needed to update the BIOS and google the board to know how to get the XP RAID drivers going. Absolutely update the BIOS before you even attempt an install.
Cons: Noobs are ok to install Vista but it can be tricky to install XP. Only 4 stars because of that and needing to update the BIOS. Otherwise a great board for the more experienced.
Other Thoughts: Note that there are no legacy ports - PS2, serial, or parallel. Not a problem for me.

Pros: its blue:)
Cons: DOA what more can I say. Newegg rocks though cause RMA easy and they overnighted and rushed my replacement. I did not try another Intel board. I went with GA-EP35-DS3L GIGABYTE by recommendation of a co-worker. So check my review of that one in the future.

DP35DP motherboard
Pros: Stable. Not overclocking yet. Using E8400 cpu. Killawatt tool shows 85 watts average. Using OCZ 800mhz ddr2 memory. Make sure the memory you use is 1.8volt. Timing 6-6-6 as per Intel. No crashes. I am not overclocking yet. Very pleased.
Cons: none

Needs to be more informative.
Pros: Has everything i need, dolby 5.1 and 7.1 built right into it. Has ran great from day one and still holding strong.
Cons: THIS BOARD REQUIRES YOU TO HAVE A SP2 XP INSTALL DISK IF INSTALLING XP. I tried installing my windows xp and it blue screened repetitively when it reached the installing devices section of the install. Went online and read forums for hours trying to figure out why, and it turns out that you must have a sp2 xp disk. So i had to spend more time slipstreaming sp2 into my windows disk just go get it to install. I just think that this should be labeled somewhere on this product. This is only on xp, vista doesnt have this issue.
Other Thoughts: this motherboard, e8400 cpu, 4 gig Adata ddr800 ram, xfx alfadog 9600GT video card, 160 gig sata hd, xion 301 case, apevia 600 watt ps, liteon dvd burner.

Great mobo,
Pros: Great features, 45nm Wolfdale support thru a BIOS update (no biggie). Integrated RAID and a lot of USB ports. No PS2 ports but who cares, everything is USB now anyway.
Cons: RAID drivers shipped on a floppy but there is no floppy controller on the mobo?? That does not make any sense, what was Intel thinking? I managed to EASILY slipstream the drivers into my Windows installation CD using nLite. It took me about 10 minutes extra to do my Windows install. Works like a champ, would have got 5 stars if the RAID drivers were easier to setup. To the guy below me, google nlite, it took me 2 minutes not 2 days.

MEET YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE
Pros: It came in a good box.
Cons: BE CAREFUL WHAT MEMORY YOU BUY FOR THE BOARD AND IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL RAID, YOU'LL NEED A MONTH TO GET IT TO WORK.
You must listen to the other nightmares posted about this mobo! Intel ships the RAID software on a floppy, but there's no floppy controller on the board. Intel support says use a USB floppy drive.... but it has to be one of a few specific models. I tried to find a place to buy any of the recommended USB drives -- not available and Intel Support can't tell you where to find one.
Intel Support gives you a link to a Microsoft sight to explain slip-streaming the RAID drivers onto a Windows installation disk. It took me two days to figure out slip streaming on my own -- Intel refuses to help with that process.
Now that the system is finally loaded, I get a scrambled screen two out of three times that I try to boot... must keep hitting reset to get it to work.
Other Thoughts: No wonder the Intel pre-sales support person told me that I should buy the DP35DP mobo instead of the DP45SG... they're trying to get rid of these pieces of junk!

Great Board
Pros: At first I was very hesitant to get this board because of the mixed reviews it seemed to get, but I pulled the trigger on it anyway, and I"m glad I did. This board runs VERY stable, layout is very nice...the Documentation for this board if your a first time builder is GREAT, It really is id10t proof! Can't wait to buy again...
Cons: None...I know people have been saying that the RAID drivers come on a Floppy but the board doesnt' support a floppy driver...this is really an invalid CON, simple because you can download the same RAID Drivers ONLINE from Intel's site :)

Used for HTPC
Pros: Great modern board for HTPC, runs an E8500 without a hitch.
Cons: Not really a con, but no PS/2 ports, I had to get a USB keyboard to set up.
Other Thoughts: Using as an HTPC with an E8500, Nvidia 8500 graphics, Aver M780 tuner, 2gb ram, 640gb drive and Vista Ultimate. Sweet.

No Overclocking or Extreme Processors
Pros: This is a great motherboard for regular C2D's or C2Q's and even 775 Xeons. This is my main board I use in all my engineering workstations. ~15 machines running ProEngineer.
Cons: But stick in a Core 2 Extreme and it says that the processor is not supported and shutdowns within 10 seconds. Not for ANY overclocking. You can adjust memory timings and that is it.
Other Thoughts: I was going to use this board as a temp gaming board, since I keep these in stock, but no extreme support, no thanks. The work great for regular processors.

Awesome board
Pros: I've been using this board since about christmas, and I've had little to no problems with it. Tight fit to get the cpu fan on it, but never ran into any problems with it. bought it from a closing store, and will be upgrading to a DDR3 board in the next few weeks from the egg.
Cons: should have about 2 more usbs. had to buy a hub to keep up with my needs. No ps2 ports for keyboard/mouse.
Other Thoughts: generic compaq case/XCLIO case, C2D 2.13ghz, 2gig ram(667), NVIDIA8600GT, 500watt CoolerMasterPSU, Seagate HDD. This was just a temp until I got the money up for my better stuff. as the temp, it was a wonderful board, has all the audio plugs built in, and doesn't bother with onboard video.

Pros: Cheap, solid motherboard with fair specs.
Cons: The board's native mode for sata is raid, the drivers for which are on a floppy disk... the board has no port for a floppy drive.
Other Thoughts: If you're using this board to run windows XP make sure you have an install disk with Service Pack 2 and either a USB FDD, a slipstreamed install disk with the Raid drivers or are willing to stick with IDE.

2 dead boards
Pros: Intel product. Newegg worked well with me to replace the board.
Cons: DOA. I got a replacement (same model) and that board delivered no power to the USB, PCI, SATA, or IDE interfaces. Had technicians confirm the death of the first board and the problem with the other. After second return I bought higher end intel board.
Other Thoughts: I think this board would have been great if it worked. This board got great reviews on this site and I trust the users in this forum - ya'll are picky, so when a product consistantly gets 5 stars that means it has to be good. I still trust Intel - the technician said 1 out of every 5 boards is bad or DOA - go figure.

THAT BLASTED MOTHERBOARD
Pros: ITS A SOLID MOTHERBOARD FOR THE GAME OR JUST FOR THE AVERAGE PC USER
Cons: THE BIOS WAS A BIG PROB FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT DONT KNOW. i COULDN'T GET INTO THE BIOS AT FIRST NOW THE REASON FOR THIS AND THIS IS SO FYI YOU HAVE TO HOOK IT UP TO A VGA CABLE INSTEAD OF A DVI CABLE. I DON'T KNOW WHT LAME BRAIN MADE THIS, BUYT IF YOUR STUCK AT THE FIRST SCREEN TRYIN TO HIT F2 REMEMBER HOOK IT UP TO AVG CABLE.
Other Thoughts: JUST A ALL AROUND GOOD MOTHERBOARD AFTER GETTING PASS THE SCREEN TO GET INTO THE BIOS

High-tech motherboard
Pros: I bought the OEM version here at Newegg. I was disappointed with the packaging and the lack of an I/O panel shield, but I have no functional problems with the motherboard.
Cons: See my prior review.
Other Thoughts: Strange but true. I didn't like the way the CPU fan controller worked, so I cut the fourth wire thinking it would run at full speed. Instead, the thing seems to be running better. With the fourth wire cut, now the CPU fan speed corresponds to the CPU temperature. The data for that comes from Intel's desktop monitoring utility. Go figure.
Disclaimer: unless you are a technician, don't try that at home.

GREAT SOLID BOARD
Pros: What else can you say....It's an intel board....solid,reliable like a timex ( takes a lickin & keeps on ticken ) Loaded vista ultimate 64 with raid 1 setup with no problems. Runs 24/7 never had bsod.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: System build: lian li lancool k7b case / e6850 / ocz vendetta cooler / 8gb crucial ram / 2 raptors 150 gb in raid 1 / fan master fan controller / 3 x 120mm antec led fans / 2 x TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653B ( pirated from dell xps 420 ) Will be upgrading to a pair of velociraptors in raid 1 and e8600 when available.

Pros: I like it. XP SP3 installs and runs with no problems.
Cons: Minor stuff. Intel Desktop Utilities hardware monitor occasionally reports spurious 0 volts for all the voltages. I disabled the voltage alerts. The 3 pin fan headers cause some fans to oscillate speed at 0.5 Hz and cause some fans to rattle.
Other Thoughts: If you want to wake from S3 sleep using the keyboard or mouse, you need to add USBBIOSx to XP's registry. To use PS2 keyboards, the BYTECC BT-2000 PS2 adaptor works well. I use it with my PS2 KVM.

Intel DP35DP mobo
Pros: The Intel website really describes a VISTA READY-mobo/this one seems great for Digital Media Creation and VISTA-Premium..I have found a 1999 Gateway Tower-case-its ATX..but does the REAR-panel work for this MOBO-assembly..so I'm checking NEWWEGG-/couldn't find KINGSTON RAM Modules to use(HYPER-X)..I would suggest a VISTA OS-and Intel Core 2 DUO/haven't looked up a PSU(yet)..but 400watts seems just fine for DVD-video work..I mainly need to have the REAR-panel(PC-tower)be correct.
Cons: This MOBO accepts the Intel Pentium Dual Core..but I have not found INFO that VISTA will upgrade there.
Other Thoughts: At the Intel website I thought there was a Optical OUT(audio)connctor..seems there isn't/..[end]

good, but strange sometimes
Pros: it works well what else is to be expected, it's an intel board... layout is pretty good (see below)
Cons: memory collides with graphics if u use a big one, but some cajoling gets it out of the way (don't push too hard) BIOS update was strange. I tried the .exe file seven or eight times, went to bed, got up the next morning tried twice more, gave up, went to write a negative review, and then it worked : ?
Other Thoughts: pretty cool generally warm at RAM chips, cooler would help (no "ouch "factor) E6850 w/ stock cooler 4GB RAM 80GB WD HDD NVidia ASUS 8500GT

seems ok, little tricky though
Pros: overall am pleased. just make sure you know what youre doing re: RAID/AHCI drivers w/ xp or you'll have a fun time figuring it all out. if you're using vista, then you'll be fine. also make sure you have 1.8v 5-5-5 RAM. I'm using 2 (2GB) pink sticks of A-DATA, worked great from the start. if you have those bases covered, and everything else on the board is spec'd out to your needs (and you dont need to overclock) then this board should be just fine for you.
Cons: hardware monitoring software bundled with the board only reports the cpu's "thermal margin", which isn't the actual temperature. i was disappointed by the initial reading of 64c, using aftermarket heatsink with quad 6600. that's before i found out what "thermal margin" is. apparently the higher the better, 0 is the max it can handle. so overall not really a con... i was just curious what the actual temp was.
Other Thoughts: Used this for my first ever computer build for DAW. Took my dear sweet time with it, 4 days later I have it up and running. But, RAID/SATA drivers were a total pain to install (i have win xp pro 32 bit) b/c of the infamous floppy drive issue, but also because it was very difficult to find detailed, step by step instructions on the net for how to install them properly. found NOTHING anywhere (manual, web) on exactly how to do this. so i just winged it. wanted to set bios to RAID to make board "raid ready" just in case but after a few headaches with RAID, finally settled on AHCI which worked.

good, but not great
Pros: This is a simple and durable board. Lots of SATA ports, handles 8 gigs of ram with ease (1.8v), and has a firewire. The audio is also great, along with the esata port. Intel builds rock solid MOB's and this one is in for the long haul. You can't go wrong for a new build (32 bit). Simple, quick and easy. Makes for an excellent media center.
Cons: The BIOS! Update them ASAP, otherwise expect some major hang-ups. The board also doesn't seem to be built for Vista 64-bit. It took forever to install and load-up. However updating the bios helps. I'm sure the board is meant for 32bit platforms, so if you are building a 64bit platform, try another mob. Lastly, the board lacks the screws and such that are needed. Intel is sure getting cheap these days.
Other Thoughts: Quad cores and 8 gigs of ram still don't seem to be enough for Vista!

Very good!!!
Pros: The integrated sound is flawless, it sounds great!!!, very easy to install.
Cons: Can't overclock...
Other Thoughts: I was not aware the sound device in this MoBo was so good, and as i'm not a serious gamer, i really don't see much problem in the overclocking area.

Great, Sata Controller (Southbridge) A little flakey
Pros: Great entry level board--lots of bang for your buck. You're not going to be overclocking this thing, but for day-to-day computing it works beautifully.
Cons: The SATA can get congested depending on which ports you have your devices attached to (particularly if your optical drive is SATA)--see other thoughts.
Other Thoughts: Do not plug a SATA DVD drive into port 5 if there it an eSATA drive attached (port 4). These two ports operate on the same channel and I notice my compuer "loses" the eSATA drive sometimes when I eject the DVD tray... Very weird, Intel.
Also, if you are doing something intensive with a SATA DVD drive, make sure it on a different channel than your OS HDD... System slowed to a crawl when ripping a disc with EAC. I noted in the device manager they were on the same channel and swapped the DVD to a different SATA port and it was right as rain.
For the record, one channel is Port 0 & 2, the second channel is port 1 & 3, third (which is actually a separate controller) is port 4 (eSATA) and 5.
Of course, if you stick IDE for your optical rather than SATA, you'll probably have no issues.

Vista Ready
Pros: After doing some research, I decided to go with this board for a Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 x64 build. It went great. Made sure about the right memory, updated to latest BIOS via .ISO CD before the OS was installed, checked inside the BIOS for HD configuration and that is what helped make this board work and load the OS perfectly.
Cons: Really not much on the - side. Southbridge runs a little warm/hot but many posters in some of the forums say that its normal for the structure of the board to work at those temps. No PS2 ports for things like old style keyboards or mice. I just use USB so not a con for me. Nixed the stock Intel fan for a Dynatron P985. MUCH easier to install and quiet.
Other Thoughts: If you want a very stable, reliable, and easy-to-install board for any Vista (or XP) install, I would recommend this board from the get-go. No overclocking or tweaking...just a solid board. Make sure you test your memory BEFORE you load the OS using a bootable Memtest CD. My build: DP35DP, Intel E8400, 4GB Kingston 1.8v ValueRam, Seagate ES.2 250gb SATA HD, Samsung CD/DVD, MSI NX 8400 256mb, Antec Solo w/earthwatts 430psu (REAL quiet), Antec tri-cool front/rear fans. Sweeet!

First Review......
Pros: Works great w/ Vista32, q9300, DDR2 800 5-5-5-18. Board is great, what I wanted for a performance desktop at home. Not a gamers choice, I'm sure. Still get the ICH9 and 1333Mhz without loading up the board with features that I don't use. I used an EVGA 512-P3-N865-AR (Nvidia 9600), single slot "thick" for a reason, see Other Thoughts for a great tip.
Cons: Could not up the BIOS from SATA CD, no biggie, temporarily used IDE for that, really wanted to update BIOS before loading OS.
Other Thoughts: Okay, the South Bridge (ICH) runs HOT. Intel put a 30mm heatsink on it that is only tall enough to clear a video board in the pci-e x16 slot if it is a 2 slot "thick" video card. Sorry, I've got an electronics background and "if it's too hot to keep your fingers on it, there's a problem". So, I replaced it with a COOLER MASTER SLC-S41-U1. Had to offset it a bit, no biggie, actually an advantage. Unscrew the fan, place the hold down bar in the 4th slot, and mount it offset away from the video card slot. Then screw the fan back on and hook it up. Sorry about the blue LED. BUT REMEMBER, this will not work with a 2 slot "thick" video card. Temperature went from 83C to 73C, much better.

Another Intel Build
Pros: Supports 1333 FSB procs. I thought the fan and heatsink were ok, pretty quiet. I've never had and intel board fail, so I hoping this will be the same. Full featured bios, no OC, of course.
Cons: Umm.. You will probably want to upgrade the bios after you get windows on it. I guess you'ld want to for any MB..
Other Thoughts: For Vista, all is well. For XP, you'll need SP2 and either slipstream the harddrive controller driver or use a usb floppy for the driver..

Okay...
Pros: Fair number of SATA ports and PCI slots...
Cons: Lack of PS2 ports and Floppy drive port
Other Thoughts: Due to the lack of the floppy drive port, I had to use another computer to slipstream the RAID driver into Windows XP so that I could use the RAID feature.
Also, I have an old IBM keyboard that I like very much, which has a PS2 connector alone. I am using a PS2-to-USB converter, but it is showing a problem of its own. I can live with that problem, but still...
Intel is trying to save pennies by eliminating these connectors, but that step will keep lot of people away from this board...

Fast, reliable
Pros: Its an intel board with an intel chipset. Best driver support. Best reliability. Great price. Can run Server OS no problem (I've been running Windows Server 2008 on it).
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I bought this for stability and reliability. I haven't tried overclocking it.

Makes a good Vista Media Center
Pros: Typical Intel. Solid and reliable. Excellent Intel warranty. A very good board for a media center. Onboard video is good enough for standard DVD and HDTV. I recommend the XFX PVT86JYAHG 8500GT Silent for HDDVD and BluRay decoding. Onboard HD Audio with analog and digital outputs. Also has Dolby utility for simulated surround sound from 2 speakers.
Cons: No overclocking. Onboard video does not accellerate HDDVD or BluRay
Other Thoughts: Perfect for media centers, as I don't overclock those. You want maximum reliability and minimum noise. I also recommend Arcsoft TotalTheatre HD for HDDVD and BlueRay on Vista. It has a plugin and a 10Ft interface as Vista does not do that natively. Works on every HDDVD(8) and BluRay(12)I have.

Second board as good as the first
Pros: Built my wife's machine with this board (built mine with one as well, liked it enough to buy again). Same story... rock solid, good performance, etc. My machine runs WinXP64 with an E6750 and hers runs MS Vista Home Premium (32-bit) with an E4700. Would buy again if needed (although at this point, I'm probably going to wait for Nehalem before upgrading anything else).
Cons: Some may have issue with the lack of PS/2 connectors for mouse/keyboard and the lack of a floppy connector. I had issue with neither and consider both good features to (finally) have.
