Rating + 5 Abit MBoards

Pros: Every Abit board I have use have been GREAT!
You have to be careful with them, because they have alot of features on the board.
I use every caution to keep it Cool.
My main system suppors Routers, 4 camera, Video Rec, Three Sata Harddrv, Three DVD Drv,Zip Drives and it runs cools with the proper cooling. I even have coolers on my Memory (Patriot). The Patriot Memory I 've purchase for Newegg has been running like a champ!

Cons: Guru information could be a little more straight forward for beginners. But the high end boards are not for beginners

Other Thoughts: Make sure you use a reliable steady power source.
This can make or break a good board.
Newegg gets all of my business. I hate when Newegg is out of stock and I have to the OTHER web stores

Rating + 1 Terrible MB

Pros: Newegg got here fast.

Cons: Doesn't boot- sticks at post code C1. Technical support at Abit never responds. Abit charges $7 +$20 for cross shipping a replacement. Doesn't work with 1.9v or above RAM, changed ram to 1.8v doesn't work. tried clearing CMOS doesn't work. Tried removing battery doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: This is the third manufacturer of MB's I have gotten no response from Tech support when I find an issue with their MB. I have built hundreds of custom machines and Abit is the worse customer support I have found next to EVGA.

Other Thoughts: i dont recommend this for a first time builder. be sure to visit abit web site for processor and memory type. learn japanese and get an intercom with auto dialing before trying to speak to a tech.

Pros: XP SP3 install was a breeze. Installed all drivers from disc, and updated as necessary. Came with Bios V 16.
Using Raptor for main drive and 6 TB drives JBOD for my dvd library. Using E4600, booted up fine.

Cons: Bios in in pink instead of blue.

Other Thoughts: Had to set the SATA to AHCI from IDE to make it recognize all the TB drives. Works very well. All working concurrently on Vista MC!

Pros: Plenty of ports for a good low price.
Reliable, run cool and quiet.

Cons: Abit site show this product as discontinue, so this may be a problem as future unfold. It could mean no more bios update and no more new CPU support.
The BIOS doesn't have boot menu, where you can select boot device after POST w/o going into BIOS. And that's a big point reduction for me.

Other Thoughts: I brought this board along w/ E2180 to build it as a file server. And it's perfect for it. 9 SATA ports and 1 eSATA. It's made for a file server. I have it ran 24/7 for a few days now w/o any problem.

Rating + 2 OK while it lasted

Pros: Lots of SATA Ports, SPDIF, overclockable, cheap

Cons: Randomly died while I was watching a movie. Post code 9.0. Had to fix the 2A post code when I first got it. It's picky about RAM. Takes some work to get it running just right.

Other Thoughts: If it hadn't died all of a sudden it would have still been only an ok mobo.

Rating + 3 Not impressed

Pros: Lots of built in devices, well layed out board, excellent CPU compatibility

Cons: Lots of built in devices, it has two SATA controllers and one IDE controller built in! to handle the 10 SATA ports which causes there to be a lot of shared resources which tends to lead to system whackyness and general instability highlighting the boards next major con. It wasn’t stable until I flashed the bios to the latest release(on top of shutting off unused devices…..using floppies…. this is 2008! flashing BIOSes with floppies when out at least 5 years ago! what a huge PITA. Some other minor annoyances poor drivers for 64-bit OS’es mainly sound and uGuru?(I could not find a 64-bit driver for the uGuru device)

Other Thoughts: This will be the last Abit board i buy unfortunately

Rating + 2 Hassle

Pros: The usual, 10 SATA, 2 gigabit LAN, SPDIF, etc...

Cons: This board is too much hassle. You have to constanly reset things, pull jumpers off, play in the BIOS, update it, tweak. It is here and there, but just gets to be so tiring. If you want a board that just works, look elsewhere!

Other Thoughts: I wish this board was stable! Spec wise, it is a truly awesome board! Do as I didn't do... READ THE REVIEWS FIRST! Don't let the specs sell you on this board!

Pros: don't know.

Cons: never posted up, tried a combination of below:
-wolfdale e8400
-core 2 duo e6600
-gskill ram 2gb stick
-some stock 1gb stick

always posted C1 for some reason.. I know it doesn't support wolfdale and C1 is supposedly a problem with detecting ram.

Rating + 1 Various Info,

Pros: Just addressing some issues I saw in other reviews, rating it a 1 so anyone interest will be able to find this easily. 1st, this motherboard isn't beginner friendly unless you go with straight basics and nothing more. 2nd, you don't really need a floppy drive unless you plan on updating the bios or running raid, (if you're going to run raid... good luck, am doing it now but it's a bother). 3rd, don't mess with tech support, go to the forums and post, they're extremely helpful although there's only about 10 people on at any given time.

Cons: 4th, although many people have complained about errors and the such, I haven't had that many problems (or few that weren't easily fixed anyway), if you have problems with booting up, check the error codes, it's very helpful. If you can't figure it out, reseat all of your hardware and make sure everything seems okay, then reset your bios, this fixes most common problems when nothing is wrong with the hardware.

Other Thoughts: Okay I guess that's it, I've had this computer for a long time now and have been very happy with it, with the exception of the floppy/drivers bother that is. I've used it with Vista RC2, Vista and XP Pro with no problems.

On a final note... I would hesitate to buy this board if you plan on getting one of the newer cpu, it's starting to get a little old and I'm not sure if the newer cpu's are being supported in bios updates. You can check the current bios by going to www.abit-usa.com and checking under support for the current bios/drivers.

BTW: abit's bios control is great :)

Rating + 5 Nice board

Pros: Nice board with lots of features. Handles a lot of different processors. When I bought mine, quad-core was not supported. Now with latest bios, I can upgrade to quad-core, thus extending the life of the hardware. Runs 64-bit Fedora 9 nicely (Sorry, I can't stand the idea of paying for Windows - any flavor). What can I say, there may be faster boards out there these days, but not many cover the range of processors like this one. Even after more than year, I am very happy with my purchase.

Cons: Can't think of any. Had it for over a year. You'd think I would have found something by now...

Other Thoughts: Check the BIOS revision and make sure you have the latest. Some nice extra tweaks became available recently (like quad-core support).

Rating + 1 Troublesome to say the least...

Pros: good price, nice features. I liked the layout of the board.

Cons: memory errors, memory errors, memory errors. got it all set up, turned it on, installed windows and got a hanging undefined error (2A or something like that). I had to reset the CMOS and change the slot the RAM was in and restart, painful to say the least. Did this about 4-5 more times 'til i got everything installed and then tried to update the BIOS with the utility that comes with A-Bit boards, and it said I needed a newer version, got the latest version and it still said i needed a newer version (with the newest version possible!) So, i did it the old fashion way, and updated the BIOS to the newest possible...still errors (changed memory brands about 3 times too). Lurked a few forums, and found out that the only true time they fixed the error was in a BETA BIOS UPDATE...what the hell. Did that, and it fixed it. Now it only stalls on some undefined error 50% of the time i restart. LUCKY ME!

Other Thoughts: its orange.

Rating + 1 Luckily I had a Pentium D...

Pros: Test how far your patience will go with this Mother Board! If you think there is ever a need for 9 hard drives... this MoBo has 9 SATA slots.

Cons: Says on the box, and in the book, that IT SUPPORTS CORE 2 DUO!!1!1 So why doesn't mine work? I got this board with version 16 on it, lucky for me I had an old Pentium D laying around that could help me update the BIOS. So i get the BIOS update from the website, and literally had to fight with the program just to get it to flash and update to version 22. So i slap in my brand new shiny E7200 Wolfdale and..... fail! So i figured it was a bad chip, return it to newegg, and get a new one that is also nice and shiny and that one fails with the same error. I later find out that wolfdales are not supported yet on this board... OH JOY another problem with this mother board! I also have heard after I bought this board that its picky on RAM, no clue why but I guess I got lucky there, I bought GSkill Dual Channel 4GB for it and they work, but when I had the computer up and running I noticed the RAM was hot so I moved them away from each other and then the computer wouldn’t boot.

Other Thoughts: (con't on Cons, I ran out room) When i move the RAM, i had to flash the CMOS, so at least that was easy. And why is the IDE slot so awkwardly place under the PCI express slot? I have an 8800GT so I had to move my DVD drive to the middle of the tower so i could plug into the motherboard with ruining my 8800GT. It just seems like first month was spending just getting it to run and getting prepare for a nice core and yet my nice little E7200 wont work, *sigh* A man can dream right? Save yourself some terrible and stick to ASUS, I had 2 ASUS boards before this, never had problems with them, I those 2 ASUS up and working within a couple of hours. I had 2 reasons for buying this, 1. I wanted a board compitable with Core 2 Duo and 2. I heard great things about Abit. But my patience was pushed to the limit just to get this thing up and running and trying to get to do a task such as booting up windows.

Rating + 1 I'm crying now...

Pros: ....I got a lot of hands-on experience as I train to take the A+ test.

Cons: I've been building a system over time and buying the parts as I get the money (stupid). I bought this motherboard 4 months ago and sent in the rebate (dumb). At the time, it had lots of good reviews. Since then, lots of people have found out like I did that there is 1 major flaw in this board. IT SHIPS WITH VERSION 1 BIOS!!! (Current is 22!) And I can't flash the bios because the Wolfdale Pentium I just bought ISN'T SUPPORTED by it. Therefore, the motherboard won't POST without a working CPU. An answer might be to put an old CPU in and try it, but I don't have any lying around that would work. I had to take it to a computer repair place just for them to update it to v22. Oh, but it gets better. The latest version (22), which is on ABIT's website DOESN'T SUPPORT THE NEW WOLFDALE PENTIUM!!! Same problem as before. I'll either have to wait for the new bios version to come out and have it flashed again, or wait to save up enough money to buy a new (ASUS) motherboard. Either way, I'm stuck.

Other Thoughts: Here's some lessons I've learned from this experience. I'm 22, so I'm allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. You should learn the easy way by listening to me.
(1) I know you're anxious and you want to build that new system, but instead of buying parts 1 at a time, put that money in a savings account, away from your hands, and wait until you have it all. I jumped on deals and rebates as they became available, but a month or two later, the standard prices on those same items had come down considerably. Just wait.
(2) Read ALL the reviews, not just the first 6. You need to at least skim over about 100 reviews before you buy something. And don't just look at the percentage of star ratings, look at the actual numbers. If 150 gave 5-4 stars, and 2 gave it 1-2, it's a good buy.
(3) DON'T BUY ABIT!!! They were awesome a few years ago. My first custom build from 6 years ago was ABIT and I'm writing this review on it right now. It's been very good to me, so I trusted ABIT. DON'T DO IT!

Rating + 4 Good Board with Caveats

Pros: Inexpensive and very feature heavy; dual 1gb links, 9 sata controllers. ABIT EQ makes it very easy to monitor speeds and handle overclocking if desired. I was able to obtain x64 drivers for each of the products. It works out of the box with Sabayon Professional Linux 1.1 and SuSE Linux 10.3.

Cons: This board has some serious caveats to get it working. First thing: FLASH THE BIOS! I can't stress this enough; it has to be flashed to BIOS v20, or v22 and above. This should be the very first thing done when the board is out of the box and connected. The board comes with a slight over clock of your processor BY DEFAULT; you have to go into ABIT EQ in the BIOS to clock it back down. This will become an issue for VALUE RAM; even Crucial value RAM would show some memtest errors after running memtest for six or seven consecutive days. The Crucial Ballistix series should handle it fine though. Also, the 9 SATA connectors are split across 3 SATA controllers; this only becomes important for RAID support.

Other Thoughts: uGuru is a closed source proprietary protocol, so to view temperatures and other good stuff in Linux, you need to do one of two things:
1. Use a VERY recent kernel, which has support for uGuru.
2. Download a userpace program called openguru and run it as root whenever you want to see the info.

Rating + 1 Worst Linux board ever

Pros: Inexpensive. Feature heavy if abit supports your OS.

Cons: Linux support is not only dreadful, it is effectively non-existent. I have sunk 50+ hours in to making this board work and is the worst buyers remorse I've ever had with a newegg product. BIOS is poor. The mass of SATA controllers are either poor or nonfunctional. The 'fake' IDE JMicron doesn't work correctly. The board won't support 800mhz memory as advertised. The assistance from ABIT is essentially non-existent, and the drivers for their uguru power control are closed cutting Linux off from top drawer support. [My day job is as a Linux Architect, support 3000+ systems across 4 continents.] I have rarely been more angry about such a substantial waste of my time with a product.

Other Thoughts: I think it would be most helpful if newegg added checkboxes for product reviews that stated which OS the hardware was being run with. A board that runs perfectly with Linux may have terrible support with XP but great support with Vista...etc. Adding this kind of 'application' check box would let people like me be able to sort through reviews more effectively and not get lured in to buying something that is effectively incompatible.

Rating + 4 Good board, once you flash the BIOS!

Pros: 9 internal SATA2 ports!! If you are building a media server, home "server", or video editing station, this thing has the storage capabilities you will need! Takes every Core2 and P4 proc I could find. Diagnostic LEDs are nice, and of course, like all Abit boards, there is a decided lack of jumpers!

Cons: Would not recognize, or fully boot with my Core2Duo E6550, until I used an old PentiumD I had laying around and flashed to the latest BIOS. Having some odd issues with video, but not sure if that is the Motherboard, or video card with the issue.

Rating + 5 Not cutting edge but a great board

Pros: While this series had some problems with early BIOS versions, I had no problems installing this and it has run rock solid for me with a dual boot Vista/Xp setup for 9 months now. It has a lot of great features and the price is reasonable for someone who doesn't need cutting edge specs.

Cons: Can picky about memory, but the kingston ddr2 800 valueram I purchased http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134117
from newegg had no problem at all. Needless to say, newer offerings have come along that make this a value choice.

Other Thoughts: I really have gotten a solid bargain with this, although I am glad to have bought this at the end rather than the start of the cycle. I have been fortunate with ABIT products over the year (this being my 10th build), and for people trying to save a bit while they learn to overclock this may be a good choice. Do go to the forums for advice and opinions for most things, but even without checking know that Newegg rocks!

Pros: Quality Chipset cooling, comes with good RAID and Onboard sound features. Many Sata ports and most importantly an eSATA on the back to plug my externals into.

Cons: IDE is located in the worst spot imaginable. Cable refuses to reach for more then 1 drive and overlaps the video card.

Other Thoughts: I've heard some people get a FSB wall while overclocking, limiting the performance. I've yet to hit it on my e4500 so i can't really comment on it.

Rating + 4 Linux User Beware

Pros: 9 SATA, 1 E-SATA. No issues with minor overclocking or updating BIOS with the provided flash program in Windows (I have no floppy available). I was worried about doing that, but I had no choice. Passive Northbridge heatsink works great.

Cons: I could not use the 6 SATA ports controlled by the ICH8R southbridge for the hard drive when trying to install Ubuntu 7.10, Knoppix 5.1.1, or Fedora 8. I was forced to use one of the two JMB363 microchip controlled. I have seen reviews where they say you have to use the ICH8R shipset for hte hard drives, but that was not the case for me. Regardless of what works, this board has been plagued with compatibility issues in Linux and unlike some boards, this one has very few options as work-arounds.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board for my home server because it had the option for 9 hard drives. Also, because of this, I did not care too much about overclocking. I have not tried to see the max clock, but I was able to quickly get a Core 2 Duo e4300 (1.8 GHz) processor up to 2.4 with no voltage changes. I don't know that I would get this board again. I think I will stick with a couple other manufacturers like one that begins with Giga and ASU...

Pros: - Excellent Build Quality
- No chipset fan (uses heatsink instead so theres no noise)
- Plenty of SATA port (including 1 esata)
- Dual Gigabit Ethenet

Cons: Nothing worth mentioning

Other Thoughts: Like all the other reviews say, make sure the first thing you do is update the bios. If you do not have a floppy drive, you can use a bootable USB thumbdrive instead. This motherboard supports booting to USB devices so you can boot off USB thumbdrives. Google bootable USB drive for directions on how create one.

Pros: Feature rich, lots of SATA ports and RAID options. Dual gigabit NICs... etc. Lots for the price, especially with the rebate.

Cons: Mine came with an old BIOS and I had a devil of a time getting it flashed.
Even with latest bios it did not set my RAM voltage correctly, I had to manually set it.
GURU utility not supported under Vista.

Pros: 10SATA ports are great. RAID for most of them. uGURU bios software is great. The most advanced Mobo I have ever owned. Great price after rebate. I am Running 2gb G-Skill ram, 2.2 pentium core 2 duo and a evga 256 pcie.

Cons: Lot of trial and error to start off. Setting up raid with OS was tuff. All in all I go everything setup.

Rating + 4 Great board for the price.

Pros: Bought this as a replacement for a dead 865 chipset, works with 800Mhz FSB P4 right off, and allows a easy overclock. Drop in upgradeable to C2D, but it just for a secretary. Memory was a easy cheap kit of Gskill for 2Gb. Excellently packaged and highly understandable, gave me a impression of quality that certain other board makers have started to scrimp on.

Cons: Poor connector placement on the IDE port, floppy, front audio, and fan headers. I understand the floppy is almost obsolete, but the IDE is in a terrible place.

Other Thoughts: For a budget or midrange build I would buy this again. If you want a good starter board this is it.

A little memory problem in the beginning, but if you look in the manual, they recommend clearing the CMOS on the first install anyway. So, no big deal. Even overclocks great. I've got a Pentium 4 3.2 overclocked to 3.7 right now with no problems, and I'm still using an OEM fan.

Cons: My only possilble complaint is the IDE location, but it's an easy work around.

Other Thoughts: For everyone complaining about memory problems, I encourage you to do reasearch online. Plenty of help there. Don't buy unless you know what you're doing.

Rating + 5 Great MB!

Pros: Easy to set up. Took 1 hour to completly set up. Had no issues at all. All default BIOS settings worked. Port 80 display is very helpful. Kit includes 9 good sata cables, and very sturdy 1394/USB rear panel bracket. All documentation was very clear. Web site was easy to navigate to get latest bios and drivers.

Cons: Board came with old bios 15. Had to load 22, but was easy with windows flash utility. Driver CD was old, and had to download latest drivers. No big deal.

Other Thoughts: I built the system with the following components, and am very happy with the system.

1. ABIT AB9 PRO
2. Antec Sonata III 500 Case
3. G.skill DDR2 800 Memory
4. Intel E2200 CPU w/ Stock fan
5. PNY Geforce 8600GTS Video

Rating + 5 Temperatures

Pros: Abit does monitor CPU, System, and PWM (northbridge) temperatures, with an outrageous number of high/low limit safety setpoints in the BIOS or through their Guru application. The CPU temp is a Tc (temp case) external sensor. The Tj (temp-junction) isn't monitored by ABIT because Intel does not support dual-core or quad Tj, only Tc, and Intel discourages motherboard manufacturers from using Tj; although, both CoreTemp and Speedfan display Tj Speedfan must be calibrated +15 since it subtracts 15 from their default display in order to emulate Tc.

Cons: none

Rating + 4 OS install issues with SATA

Pros: Excellent Motherboard, lots of features. I bought this to build a 64-bit Windows Server 2003.

Cons: Setup instructions leaving something to be desired, I found out the hard way. Using a SATA HDD and DVD-ROM to install the OS. I created the SATA floppy and hit F6 during the OS setup as instructed, I kept getting the BSOD "Stop: 0x0000007B". After a lot of searching the internet and ABIT's webite (without any luck), I determined the problem. You have to have the HDD contected to SATA 8 and the DVD-ROM to SATA 9 (or the IDE connector).

Other Thoughts: ABIT needs to improve on their installation and setup instructions.

Rating + 5 Great Board

Pros: This board offers alot of great features. The RAID options have been important to me. With the three systems I have built around this board none of them have given me a problem. Built in sound has performed well. Built in LAN saves the hassle of maintaining a wireless network.

Cons: The only problem I have had is the locating of some of the connectors. The front panel connectors are a little tight to get to but not a major problem.

Other Thoughts: I'm sure this board is at the end of it's life cycle and I hate to see it go. I hope ABIT has a good successor to it coming out.

Systems built have been XP Professional and Vista Ultimate.

Rating + 2 Stay away

Pros: 9 onboard SATA + 1 eSATA. Dual onboard PCI-E Gigabit ethernet.

Cons: With each BIOS update comes a whole host of exciting new bugs.

The SATA controllers seem to be very finicky. I went through 8 WD 500GB drives before I found 5 that would coexist at the same time connected to the primary SATA controller. The other 3 would only show up with a maximum of 4 drives on that controller, adding a 5th caused them to stop working.

Dual GigE is nice, but the chipset support is very hit or miss under Linux.

Other Thoughts: I have used this board in three cheap-o fileserver builds, each running Linux. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this board. I have to hold my breath every time I reboot one of these boxes because more often than not they don't come back up without some tinkering in the BIOS or repeated boot attempts.

I had pretty decent luck with the first 2 of these boards, but I pushed my luck with the 3rd by trying to use 8 SATA hard drives and a more recent C2D. I had much better luck with older CPU's and only a couple of hard drives.

Rating + 5 Update - Oops, it DOES have eSata

Pros: I goofed, b/c I had forgotten about eSata. I was thinking I had picked out a board with no eSata. Knowing this makes me even happier at the moment. :0) Because this means I have possibly a good option for swapping really large data files (HDV files).

Cons: Just remember to update the BIOS if you get blue screens at first. I did, but that was b/c of BIOS. Prior to the recent BIOS versions being available, the board was terrible, but with the new BIOS, it is rock solid.

BIOS color - who in the world thought of a PINK BIOS screen!? Thankfully, you don't have to look at the BIOS very often unless you just want to. ;0)

Other Thoughts: It doesn't overclock as well as some motherboards, from what I've read online in multiple locations, but I can say that it does overclock well, and gives you all sorts of options for overclocking - more than I've ever tinkered with, anyway.

Rating + 4 Excellent Motherboard, but Update Your BIOS!

Pros: Just an overall excellent motherboard. Some specific features I personally like:
9 SATA2 Ports! That's right, 9! It has the most SATA ports, to my knowledge, of any current Intel-based Motherboard.
It does support Core 2 Quad CPUs if you have a recent enough BIOS. I've not tried it personally, but have read where many others have.
Many overclocking options, though not the best overclocking motherboard - the 9 SATA 2 ports being there is what sealed the deal for me, though.

Cons: No eSATA, though their newer mobos do.
Board was unstable until after updated BIOS. Had to reset the BIOS after every reboot until I got it updated.
uGuru software will hang if you try to change some settings - as a hindsite, I would suggest not even installing that software at all, unless you just want to use it as a temp monitor.

Other Thoughts: I'd consider buying another one, even knowing of the possible intial BIOS issues. After the BIOS was updated, have had absolutely zero problems. Right now it is particularly tempting to pick up another one for another PC with the rebate, particularly. At least, it is a thought in the back of my mind right now... :0)

Rating + 5 Good board.

Pros: Lots of SATA ports, decent layout, passive cooled bridges, stable, problem free, frequent bios updates released. Cool motherboard feature that lets you save configs in nv flash which helps if your cmos battery dies(you can load the config right back). I have an E6400, X1900XTX, 2GB corsair pc2-6400c5 memory (2x1GB). The onboard sound is so good, I disabled my X-fi (horid drivers) and I don't miss it

Cons: It doesn't OC well (not that I expected it to). The cr2032 cmos battery died in under a year. I have another abit board that the same thing happened on. I think they should use better ones. Not a big deal. I actually pulled a 2032 out of an 8 year old p3 system and that one still works! They -should- last.

Other Thoughts: AHCI/NCQ had some weird problems that were supposedly fixed in new bios revisions. I don't really care as it's been proven to not really improve performance and I turned it off ages ago. IDE mode for the win. Also, I wish people would STOP posting 1/5 stars for a DOA product. All products have some %age DOA. It's not fair.

Pros: Excellent features; very nice board; using Corsair recommended memory; completely stable.

Cons: Make sure you have the latest BIOS from the Global site. US site does not carry latest. Weak PATA support, best to use SATA.

Other Thoughts: Disabled the Jmicron controller and using SATA DVD and HD. PATA is dead and no longer supported by Intel.

Rating + 1 Nice Design - Poor Bios

Pros: Heat pipe cooling for the 965 chipset, lots of ports, colorful, cheap

Cons: Got the dreaded "2A" memory error code with brand-new memory. The board should not be so finicky with memory, if that was actually the case with my difficulties. At any rate, clearing the CMOS only resulted in loading defaults that would not facilitate flashing the BIOS from the floppy. The CMOS would not save any configuration other than default settings, even after clearing 50+ times, changing the battery, 2 packs of Camels, a pot of coffee, and a six pack of Mountain Dew. RMA'd the same night. I did not have the heart to continue.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg was fantastic. They did not hassle me one bit for the RMA, and the CSR was incredibly nice and understanding. You just can't beat service - it looks like NewEgg has remembered this, and that is why they are #1.

Rating + 1 Garbage. Look for another board.

Pros: Looks good on paper.

Cons: Shipped with BIOS from 2006. Computer wouldn't even POST. Boot error was Code C1 or A2(A2 wasn't even described in the manual). Looked these errors up online, memory related errors. I had to shift 1 DIMM to different slots to even try and get into the BIOS. It came with a bad CMOS battery so settings weren't being saved to BIOS. Searched for 10 hours for a floppy disk(had to get one from work). Created boot disk with version 22 BIOS from website. Motherboard refused to boot from my floppy. Tried boot disks on another pc to verify they were ok and they were. This motherboard is horrible. It has some nice specs but it is absolute *censored*. I had to RMA it. Going back to ASUS.

Other Thoughts: Where is the excedrin?

Pros: Excellent board with lots of extras including a seven segment display to display POST codes should you have boot issues, excellent bios and great utility. Dual LAN and really nice HD sound output I coupled this with ASUS EN8500GT Silent Magic 512 MB video card (no fan)

Cons: I had lots of issues with Vista Home Premium and eventually back loaded XP which came up first time and no issues. Abit does not have good drivers for Vista yet (apparently). I could not find the utility to run from disk and the disk would not autorun from vista (had security issues) and had to run each install seperately then had boot issues, so I am waiting till Abit has better, newer driver before I go to vista and even then I have found that my version of XP very stable. I would recommend like previous folks here to run with Crucial Ram (mine is Tracer with LED's and 2X1GB and 2X512MB. Also if you have a big fan (I am running the Zalman CNPS9500A LED cooling fan - BIG) it comes close to the big heatsink that is near the rear panel outputs (mine is running at low 30's with E6700 Conroe)

Other Thoughts: I have been longtime ASUS fan and had to return the P5B which did not boot well with Patriot Ram although I am pretty sure the Ram was issue this Abit board is very nice and well put together...

Rating + 3 Good, not great

Pros: Lots of SATA ports. Included onboard IDE (since Intel dropped it from the 965 spec). uGuru overclocking utility is great and very deep. Onboard LED for error codes. Abit-USA forums great resource for help!

Cons: Poor port placements (especially IDE, SATA, and 12V). Poor construction... I ripped out a SATA port just trying to remove the plug and clips it came with.

Other Thoughts: If you can get a good price, don't hesitate especially if you are wanting to overclock. Just be wary of getting it together, it is a mess inside my case with the layout of this board.

Pros: Lots of ports!

Cons: Can't get the ports to work with fedora. Also 3 different sata controllers bites it.

Overclocking is not as easy as it is on other motherboards

Other Thoughts: with 9 sata ports you would think at the bios they would have a command key to choose your boot drive.

Rating + 4 Problems Initially, Working Great Now

Pros: 9(!) SATA ports, 3 different RAID controllers, lots of built-in peripherals.

Cons: Old firmware (mine from 8/2006!) did not support newer CPUs or newer memory. It was a major headache figuring out workarounds just to get to the point the firmware could be flashed. Would not recommend if you are building a new system using the latest CPUs and memory unless you have older parts to swap in to get a usable system to flash the firmware. The floppy and IDE drive connectors are a little awkward.

Other Thoughts: Once the firmware was flashed (the ABIT USA site shows the latest as v21, but the Taiwan site has v22), the board has worked great. It is very expandable for future hard drive additions.

Rating + 5 Update your BIOS right away!

Pros: Great price! 9 SATA ports. Comes with 9 SATA cables too. Many overclocking capabilities. Good onboard sound. Abit has great costumer support. Newegg shipping is very fast! Compatible with Vista 32

Cons: You MUST, I repeat, you MUST update your BIOS to the newest revision (currently version 22.) Otherwise you will have to reset your MB at least 50 times. Also, If you use a USB keyboard, you need to enable it for the 'BIOS' option instead of the 'OS' option, otherwise it will not work until windows boots up. Also, I was unable to get Linux-based Ubuntu 7.04 and 7.10 to work.

Other Thoughts: Download latest BIOS update here: Get version 22 (or higher if available)

Rating + 5 Interesting Motherboard

Pros: Sooo much SATA! Talk about future proofing. The board has a great northbridge cooling setup. It works well, and its obviously silent. Some layout is strange, like the IDE port beind mixed in with PCI, but whatever. Its doable! BIOS settings let you do just about anything in terms of overclocking. Post codes on board is kind of neat. Stability seems rock solid. On board audio is above average (not better than X-Fi). BIOS update available to fix a lot of memory and other issues. Vista 64bit drivers available from Abit Global FTP.

Cons: If you don't upgrade your bios to update 22, you will probably run into some sort of problems, either with memory or the BIOS itself. Before I was using update 21 and any time I changed something in the BIOS's uGuru (overclocking CPU/memory area) it would be locked and unselectable after exiting the menu. A reset of BIOS settings was necessary to fix this. Secondly, I purchased some Crucial Ballistix memory that a reviewer said he was using and that Crucial even says is compatible with the board. Well, either the memory was bad, or it is not comptaible. It wouldn't run at the stock settings (no POSTing if I manually set them to manufactuer's default) and overclocking wasn't an option. Got some Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX instead. Perfect right out of the box. Overclocking now and seems OK too!

Other Thoughts: This board gives you a lot to play with. Keep in mind that some hardware is going to conflict no matter what, and especially software with Vista and more so Vista 64. I'm running Vista 64 and its pretty flawless. X-Fi Xtreme Gamer (works perfectly), e6600, Seagate 500gb HD, Thermaltake PurePower 600W, 4GB of Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX, EVGA GeForce 8800GTS SSC. Running overclocked to 2.7ghz right now with stock cooling, I can play Crysis on medium flawlessly, and on high settings (all high) with minor slow downs. Will push it to 3ghz/1000mhz and should clear up any issues.

Pros: Lots of SATA ports and excellent Overclocking abilities.

Cons: The short of it is is major memory problems and poor board layout. I've went through 6 sticks of memory and am still having the same problems. This board is buggy and DOES have a problem with posting. I've used different bios configs to no avail. Stay away from this board.

Other Thoughts: I've owned 5 ABIT boards and have liked all of them except this one. Don't do it....Don't do it.

Pros: i now have 3 of these boards and they have all been very reliable and with few issues. for the money they are extremly fast and overclock better than expected.

Cons: as with all abit motherboards they are always full of minor annoying issues due to dumb bios problems like keyboard support and sata/raid detection. simple bios update fixes all problems and leaves you with a great board

Other Thoughts: the p965 is a very nice chipset that has enough power for bargin gamers but cheap and stable enough for every day users also

Cons: Mfing bios wasnt updated so i couldnt get it to boot. Error code 7f and 22. I think thats what they are. Boo! RMA for the win!

Other Thoughts: If you have a nothing but older CPU then you should be fine. I am not sure if it will actually boot with a newer CPU unless you get one with BIOS update. The BIOS that I had was at 1.02 I believe and the current was 1.17 =/. f t w is inappropriate content ?

Pros: I am using this board in a fileserver/mythtv box. It performs well, and there is even an application available for monitoring the board temperatures. I purchased it for the SATA ports which make a good platform for a RAID-based fileserver (I am using software RAID). It has all of the features you'd expect from a modern system board.

Pros: It was cheap and it had all the feature for me to higher end items like CPU, etc if I decide to switch motherboard.

Cons: Where the IDE/PATA connector was positioned on the board, Abit needed to provide a longer IDE tape cable for connecting all the IDE drives. I needed to spend addition funds to acquire a special lengthier cable. Also, the internal sound card is not great, it studder when there are multiple things running. I had to add a sound card to help it, hopefully, it works better.

Rating + 1 Own the motherboard

Pros: Wonderful features, I don't care about overclocking, use for video editing with P4D 945 processor, 4x1gb Patriot DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 memory, SATA cables are fantastic quality and lock in place.

Cons: Blue screen of death frequently, hangs upon boot up of Windows XP Pro too frequently, rev 16 of bios saw ram correctly as DDR2-800, rev 20 and 21 see ram as DDR2-680 vs DDR2-800, manual written in broken english and difficult to understand.

Other Thoughts: Called tech support, recording stated a 20 minute wait, gave up after 90 minutes, three to four emails to tech support, no response after weeks of waiting, I would never buy another ABit board, bad design IMO, and worse yet, no response from tech support. I cannot run a professional video business with this motherboard as my productivity is 50% at best. Probably OK for gaming, but I don't game ever, too busy with the video business and fighting this motherboard to stay up, constant reactivation of windows and Adobe software because of motherboard instability.

Pros: I just want to say this board has lived up to the expectations I have from ABit. this makes the 4th board I've owned from abit, and have loved every one. i have an old socket A board running still as my childs PC.
I do not want to get into tech details, but this board was an easy setup...plug n play. did need a PS/2 Kbd as was said in another though. also has ran stable since Sept. 06 and is ran like a server PC. It is only shut off during BAD storms, and runs constantly the rest of the time. approx 360 days out of a year. Very worth the investment

Cons: as mentioned earlier
1. ps/2 kbd needed to setup some features initially
2. no SLI / crossfire support

Other Thoughts: good midto upper range board for multi-purpose pc opreations from mid-level gaming to A/V use plenty of room for enlarged cooling fans as i run an Orb fan on my CPU

Rating + 5 Great board / Great potential.. JUST GET GOOD RAM!

Pros: Great flexibility. Awesome expandability for new cpus, hard drives etc... Truly a heavy weight 965 Board. Looking for a great board that can over clock till the cows come home, this is it.

Cons: This board requires GOOD memory, don't skimp on the ram you will hate yourself! NO patriot ram!!! I have had 3 sets of ram from em and none work correctly on the board, many times it will not even post in stock form. Best ram for this board = BL2KIT12864AA804 ( Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 80). Works flawlessly from the first boot.. and runs up to 1333 rates without problems..

Other Thoughts: This is a great board. I have built 4 friends systems based on this board. Including this one I am typing it from.. running a Core Duo e2180 2.0Ghz at 3.2Ghz 4gb Crucial Ballistix DDR 800 RAM. Rating + 5 Killer motherboard! Killer price!

Pros: More SATA ports than you can shake a stick at, TWO gigabit ethernet ports, external SATA socket, eight USB ports, two firewire ports, fast, stable, overclocking options galore, supports QUAD CORE processors too! Digital LED display on motherboard shows BIOS status during boot, can use uGuru display panel which is awesome.

Cons: Connectors on motherboard are located everywhere on this motherboard, so plugging in all the cables requires some planning.

Other Thoughts: This is the best motherboard I have ever owned, and I have built at least 30 PC's going back to the 486 days. More ports than you can shake a stick at, but note this board only has a single PATA hard drive port. I am happy to see old school parallel ATA cables become extinct. I run a 1 terrabyte RAID 0 array with two 500GB SATA 3.0Gb drives, two SATA DVD burners, one 300gb PATA hard drive for backup of critical data. This board does not support SLI, which is fine with me.

Pros: Replaced my AB9 which died in an electrical storm. It has so many features and is rock solid stable. I could not be happier with it. No crashes, plays all my games like CS:Source, Oblivion, STALKER wonderfully. Never crashed. Onboard sound works fine. Dual Gb LAN a plus. They didn't waste space with the parallel & serial ports but included eSATA connector. 9 3Gb SATA connectors! Their OTES heatpipe cooling works great. Great BIOS settings. I don't overclock but it's all in there.

Cons: only that it only has (1) PCIe x16 slot but even if it did I'd probably only use one for graphics. My 7900GSKO handles everything just fine.

Pros: Once again massive amts of SATA connections, alot of things you simply can do with the board and extremely flexible. It is a good "intermediate to advanced" board. For a person that has built a machine, you will not have many if any issues.

Cons: You have to know and learn the ins and outs of the board. It is not one that you would be able to simply pull out of the box and get the best results from it. You also have to know how to build a machine, but thats not really a con.

Other Thoughts: This is an update to my original review. I have had the "time" to play with the board and learn it a bit more. It really is great. I now have 6 harddrives installed(4 drive raid 0 and 2 drive boot raid 0), 2 dvd burners, 4 Gigs of OCZ ram, an external HD, Scanner, Printer with CIS and more hooked to this board with all processed by a Q6600. It is a good board if you know what to do.. Otherwise, leave it alone... LOL

Rating + 1 terrible

Pros: Good after BIOS update. But you absolutely cannot use this board out of the box. Will not recognize RAM (I had Patriot EP, also tried Corsair) = no boot. Do a little search on this board and you will run across the infamous 2A/7F POST code error. So you better have an old computer with a floppy drive to do the BIOS update before you can do anything.

Cons: And if you've never done a BIOS update before - don't follow Abit's directions. The bin file will not fit on the disk if you just create a bootable disk in WinXP like they tell you to do. You need to delete some files (you only need io, msdos, and command). And good luck flashing the BIOS when the board doesn't even boot up.

Other Thoughts: I had to try a combination of clearing CMOS, swapping out RAM modules, and rebooting over and over before I got it to somehow boot miraculously so I can flash the BIOS. It's fine after the BIOS update, but this board will be a nightmare for those who don't build PC's often. The unnecessary hassle alone should steer you away from this board.

Pros: Its an Abit

Cons: This Mobo is a a total nightmare, very buggy.....Yes it can be a great MB after all the bugs are taken care of. Those issues should have been addressed before release.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't give up on Abit, although the AB9 pro wasn't very good. I switched to an Abit IP35 pro, a little more expensive but well worth it.....absolutely flawless Mobo.

Rating + 4 Requires some setup

Pros: 9 SATA 3.0 Controllers, 8GB of RAM, dual 1GB NICs, and built-in micro-Guru for dynamically overclocking CPU, RAM, and buses. The first six SATA controllers and RAM are easily accessible even with a large PCIex16 graphics card, the board has a generous amount of fan connections and it comes with all cables.

Cons: Out of the box, the mobo is very finicky (actually, unstable is a better word); you MUST flash the BIOS up to v20, but not v21 (which has an optical bug in it). The motherboard comes with a slight overclock built in (FSB is set to 274 * 4 instead of 266 * 4), which overclocked the RAM to 680 (insted of 667). This will NOT work with value RAM (even Crucial), so I started seeing memory errors after 9 passes of memtest+.

Other Thoughts: The first flash failed; had to use Boot Block to recover, which took a day of attempts. The default overclock is easily fixed by manually overriding the BUS to 266, but some value RAM doesn't even post if it's overclocked. The board is really geared for overclocking; quite a bit of functionality is unused without a core 2 duo 6600+ and enthusiast RAM (Crucial Ballistix, etc.)

Rating + 4 Upgrade with quirks I didn't know...

Pros: Massive amount of SATA connectors, pretty easy to work with if you have built machines before, it's an Abit, so it's also stable..

Cons: I couldn' install a boot raid on the ICH8R by default and had to install my boot raid on the Jmicron. Also, if you set the ICH8 to raid, you cannot also use optical drives along with the raid function.. But this is something I should have investigated further

Other Thoughts: It is a nice board. I upgraded to bios 2.1, but even before doing so, I was able to install on a raid volume once I set the JMicron. It does have a massive amount of SATA connectors if you wish to run a large multi drive raid. I had to install my SATA dvd burner on the Silicon Image SATA connector and could only use one drive in the end, leaving the other to not be used.

Rating + 5 It works with quad core Q6600

Pros: I have this motherboard for a year, and it's been very reliable for me. I just purchased a Q6600 open box from newegg and I updated the bios to version A20 and I've had no problems installing. OC to 3.0 ghz no problem.

Cons: It took a lot of bios revisions to get this motherboard right. Older bios versions unstable.

Other Thoughts: With latest bios version you can use it with any current core 2 duo and core 2quad processor.

Pros: Works fine once you get it to post ... until the next time you reboot.

Cons: The 2A post problem is awful. I expect something to work at least relatively well out of the box.

Other Thoughts: If you like spending more time tinkering with your motherboard than using your computer, this is the board for you! I will never get an ABIT board again. Stay away!!

Rating + 5 Naysayers are generally foolish

Pros: This is one of the most user friendly overclocking boards on the planet. Cool colors, a few LEDs, a glorious Port 80 display, and tons of other computer tech friendly layouts features makes it my favorite budget board on the planet. Yes, it is not SLI or Crossfire capable, however I have yet to find ANY information proving that dual video cards are advantageous in any way. This board rocks. Also, comes with more SATA cables and other goodies than I know what to do with. Amazingly stable. The tech specs on this board speak for themselves.Universal Abit will be my manufactuer of choice for mobos for quite some time.

Cons: Personally, I have nothing bad to say about this board. Two minor issues I have are really not hardware related:
A) I wish Universal Abit had some of those little stickers for my case. The Hillbilly in me really enjoys having my case look like a NASCAR racer.(seriously!)
B)I wish that newegg would add fan connector types to product desriptions.I am having problems finding fans that will connect to this board to allow me to make good use of U-Abit's excellent microGuru software.(And no, I do not want to choke my case up using those ugly adapters)

Other Thoughts: Many folks have knocked on this company and this board. That bothers me. I witnessed the horrible BIOS issues it had when it first became available in the U.S. I watched a friend waste a lot of money due to RAM compatability issues. However, I did my research and I purchased this board from Newegg anyway. That research and this board built a system with ZERO issues. Even the BIOS was the most current version right out of the box. (Did have to download the software though as years of computer building has taught me to know better.-did it from this system 5 minutes after WinXP finished installing...)System POSTed on the very first power up. Not a single issue of any kind! System Components: AB9 Pro mobo, intel e4400 C2D, 2G Corsair XMS RAM, EVGA 8800 GTS 320, Raidmax Smilodon case, Seasonic M-12 700W PSU, ASUS DVD ROM, ASUS DVD RAM, Seagate Barracuda 320G HDDx4 all drives are SATA and two are JMicron RAIDed, and an Arctic Cooling 7

Rating + 5 Excellent Board

Pros: Excellent ATX layout. Plenty of clearance around the LGA775 socket to put in most any CPU cooler. Tons of USB and SATA headers. More onboard fan control than you can shake a stick at. User friendly software for overclocking and system monitoring. Tons of RAID support. Built in Port 80 readout. Unique color scheme.
Full BIOS functions for everything. Lots of bang for the buck on this one folks.

Cons: EIDE/IDE headers in kind of a bad spot, if you still use that type of connection. Onboard 7.1 sound isn't bad, but could sound better. BIOS screen is PINK.(LOL) Layout is unique, may frustrate some people. If you DO need to update the BIOS, you need to have a floppy drive. I just don't understand why companies are still holding on to that archaic media. this is not an SLI board, only on PCIex16 slot.

Other Thoughts: (Second Review)
Outstanding board. While there has been BIOS issues and RAM compatibility issues in the past (Read: when it first came out...) this is no longer true. Board I purchased from this site had most recent BIOS already on it. I put this board in a Raidmax Smilodon case with no problem. When I installed the EVGA 8800GTS 320 Vid card on it, it was a really tight fit.(only 1/4 inch clearance!!!) although this isn't so much an issue with the mobo, the PCIex16 slot location makes it intersting...

Pros: I put the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 in this and the system is very nice. Overclockable to 3.6 Ghz+. Requires bios update. That was about as challenging as it got. Deleted files from the floppy boot disk to make room for the .bin file in order to flash the bios.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Great board.

Rating + 2 Good idea.. but buggy

Pros: Has a lot of great features. On paper this is one of the best motherboards i could find for its class.

Cons: Extremely buggy. When i first installed it i had to do a few bios updates just to get to to boot without beeping endlessly on graphics card test. Turns out its a problem with their bios. Hard to diagnose because it seems to reset itself without direction causing the problem to come and go. Also has trouble with auto detection of some devices. Have a firewire external HD. Worked fine before with ASUS, but now has to be restarted sometimes for comp to see it.

Other Thoughts: All in all i would not buy this card again. Would like to replace it soon. Give me something from ASUS, never had a problem with their gear.

Pros: More sata ports than I will ever need, Vista support(which is why I had to buy this one)

Cons: placement of floppy and IDE ports

Other Thoughts: In order to use a USB keyboard in the raid configuration, you just need to change the USB settings(in the bios) for the keyboard and mouse to bios and not operating system. I've had a couple of random errors when rebooting, but just pressing the reset has resolved these. Bought this to replace an A$u$ board that when I bought it, it supported vista, but now it doesn't.

Pros: This board rocks! So far the bios support has been relatively good.the performance has been good. No issues...PCIe slot works great with 2XXX series
ati cards. Some boards don't supply enough power. The matrix raid support rocks.

Cons: can't see any right now other
then bios support 1.8 to 2.3V to the ram. The default start up is 2.0V older bioses it starts up at 1.8V which if your using 1.9v or higher ram your in for a no boot situation. Which a simple bios clear and resetup solves. I always specify the voltage to be feed to my RAM.

Other Thoughts: Vist the abit global site (not the usa site)and you will find a bios update to support new cpus includeing QUAD CORE!!!! and 133 FSB cpus. The product page and thier spu support list has been chaged accoudingly on the global site. usa site is poorly updated

Pros: Good price for a lot of features.

Cons: Despite all the warnings I got this board for my first build ever... needed to teach myself, and was in dire need of an upgrade. Bad idea!!

Other Thoughts: After many hours, constructive thinking, much caffeine, over the course of a couple weeks I have it running. It's awesome once you get it running, but it is problem after problem, make sure you research all the problems and answers to setting this up first, I was left confused several times. Still can't figure out how to make a microphone work correctly. Would not go to BIOS at first, didn't adjust setting for my ram for a few start ups, wouldn't detect sata hard drive, usb ports stopped working after installing board drivers. All the diagrams for this weren't in the manual, some were on separate cards, a little confusing.

Rating + 5 Wonderful all around!

Pros: Had no problems with board whatsoever! Easy to install. Easy to set up. Uguru works perfectly! Recognized memory correctly and at the correct speed! Look for it to work for years to come, just as my other Abit motherboards have!

Cons: If I have to find something wrong with the board. I could nitpick about the VERY minor buzz in the onboard sound, but since I have a Soundblaster Audigy card, I think I will just disable the onboard sound and still be extremely pleased with the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I am very convinced that those who gave this board a 1 rating, probably had problems with other boards that they tried to set up, because of lack of understanding of how to set up a motherboard. Or they just didn't pay attention to the BIOS set up!

Pros: Well thought out board. Newest BIOS corrects previous ABIT RAM compatability issues. Plenty of room to work with. Excellent board for building a budget gaming system.

Cons: Lack of legacy connectors is only an issue if you use such devices. Only one PCI Express x16 slot.(PCI issue exists only if you want a dual Vid Card build...)

Other Thoughts: Lots of bang for the buck. Plenty of USB and SATA support. Documentation is a bit sketchy.
If you are new to system building or electronics in general, DO YOUR HOMEWORK before making ANY purchase.

Rating + 3 Linux compatibility issues

Pros: This board has more Linux problems then any motherboard I have ever used, however most have been or will be resolved. Here is the current status,

1) Installation. You must put the Intel SATA ports in AHCI mode, no Redhat family installer will recognize the drives if you put the SATA ports in IDE mode.

2) BIOS. You must update the BIOS to 1.18 if it is not already at that level. The ABIT website makes it hard to find 1.8, they list 1.6 as the latest but if you click on Browse FTP site you'll find it.

Without 1.18 the board will crash if you use the OnDemand speed governor. Also the CPU speeds will be reported wrong with the older BIOS revs.

3: LM-Sensors. The board requires the abituguru3 module. This module is not yet in the Linux kernel, it will probably be in 2.6.23 but it won't be in the upcoming 2.6.22. I got a copy from the developer, I don't know if it is publically posted. You will also need a new rev of lm-sensors, 2.10.4 which should be available in a few weeks.

Cons: Lot's of Linux issues. Pick another board.

Rating + 1 Keep Looking

Pros: The LED lights work! other than that it doesn't work. Network ports are not functional, the bios doesn't respect any boot order, it will always go to the hard drive first and only. regardless of the settings.

Cons: The board will only boot hard regardless of settings, cleared bios no less than 50 times. Set boot to 1) sata-cdrom 2) sata-cdrom 3)sata-cdrom and it still went to the hard drive. If you disconnect the hard drive..it'll say no bootable device found, even though it discovered the DVD and there's a disc in it.

Other Thoughts: Tried to call ABIT technical support number 510-492-0911 a dozen times, nobody will even answer the phone. I can't RMA it to newegg because the rebate required the UPC be cut off the box. Not neweggs fault.

Pros: Easy set up. If you read all reviews prior to buying this board, any problem you may encounter will be a easy fix. Lots of RAID which is why I bought this board. Cons: The Placement of the IDE ports strange but represents no problem.

Other Thoughts: Posted no problem. I did encounter a 2A error. Cleared the CMOS flashed the BIOS (now 7.2.18) and since no problem.

Pros: Its the best OC'er i have found for my core2 6600. 3.2 Ghz stable with air cooling and arctic silver.

Cons: This board was an open box discount for me. Sure enough the old 2A post code was the culprit. The board isnt the fasted boot up ive ever seen. For some reason the windows uGuru software reads 0 for all the parameters, fan speeds temps etc.. not a huge deal but..

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have a dos boot disk ready, with the bios flash update either on the boot disk, or a FAT (non NTFS) hard disk partition. The update took care of the 2A post code.

Pros: My board is super stable so far. I had no problems with sata drivers installing XP. I didn't have to install drivers for the ide either. Not sure what problems others are having.

I am running an E6600 overclocked easily to 3.0ghz. I will push it farther in time.

Cons: I am running 6 hard drives. 5 sata and 1 ide. I will be replacing that last ide very soon as the ide port is very sadly placed among the pci and pcie slots.

Other Thoughts: Other than the poor placement of the lone ide port, everything is peachy so far.

Cons: I received the 2A error, and it is simple to fix. My RAM is 1.8volt and the mobo defaulted to 2.0 volts. Just clear the CMOS, enter BIOS and set RAM voltage to 1.8. You should be able to boot then.

Pros: This board rocks!! The spdif in/out works like a charm in my home theater system. Sata's are great-- I'll never use all of them, and I'm even using one for a dvd burner with no problems.

Cons: only 1 ide, so if you're planning on using some old hard drives, you'll have to buy ide to sata connectors.

Other Thoughts: This board is made for new setups and if you're installing old ide drives, you need to know how to change bios settings and load in drivers for windows install. If you don't have any experience with this kind of stuff you might think about another board. As for me this was no problem, this board rocks. And as always Newegg rocks.

Pros: More raid based sata ports than any other motherboard I have found. Very stable with the correct ram, needs 1.8V ram, do some research before buying ram.
NewEgg fast shipping and great service.
Be sure to update all drivers from the website after installing.

Cons: Some bios problems which seems to be corrected with version 1.7
ABIT is terrible with answering emails. I had to order bios chips and the tracking site on the web never was updated but I received the chips in 4 business days. They need to have better communication. This seems to be a problem with most board manufacturers.

Other Thoughts: I own two of these. No problems using 1.8V Geil ram. Kingston also makes compatible ram for this board. Their site has a guide. All of the Sata Ports are nice for a large array of drives. Will buy again in a heartbeat.

Pros: Uguru! Easy overclocking and stable. Got the Uguru clock for $ nine and its super nice to have. Love the onboard display. Well labeled. Fast.

Cons: Need the onboard display as this board has issues. Raid is flawed. Must jump thru hoops. Need to clear bios often. Need to unplug USB hub to get system to boot. Need to power off to get system to wake up sometimes.

Other Thoughts: Have 2 of theses and had similar issues with each. Realy love uguru oc software, had to find the 'secret' ftp site at useless abit web site for vista support.

Rating + 5 Practice makes perfect (and a good bios....)

Pros: Very dependable board. A lot of input capabilities: 9x internal SATA II, 10x USB 2.0, eSATA, 2x Firewire, 2x IDE, Floppy, 8-Channel HD Audio w/Optical in/out, Dual 10/100/1000 LAN, 6 fan attachments (CPU,System,NB, and 3 additional). Excellent OC abilities. With a Zalman, I run my e6300 at 2.80 Ghz at 1.325V, frontside bus of 1600, DDR 2 set at 667 and running at 1000 Mhz - all stable for 6 months now. I greatly recommend flashing to the new Bios ( on Abit website - go to Bios update, and browse the FTP site - bios 1.7). Overall, excellant. I have ran Vista for the last 4 months; installed with a SATA DVD-RW drive, not a single problem. When overclocking, pay attention to your voltages - if there are many jumps, change your voltage settings. This will certainly help new overclockers.

Cons: Board layout is weird if you still use IDE. I do not, and absolutely love it. The pink bios is odd, and I would like to see more control in the Overclocking functions, although as it stands I have run Vista with my processor at 3.5 Ghz, and it ran stable. You must know about RAM timings and system wide voltage specs to OC well. I truly cannot think of many bad things concerning this board. If one is experianced, updates the bios, and understands voltage and timings, this is an excellent P965 board.

Other Thoughts: i cannot stress enough the voltages and timings when overclocking. Also, please update the bios. uGuru installs in Vista easily, just use compatability mode. More problems exist with drivers than hardware, generally, and with a bit of tweaking, this board is an excellent performer, and stands strongly by any Gigabyte or ASUS board.
