Rating + 5 Rockin' Motherboard

Pros: Maxed out the RAM in this one and threw on quite a few different high end parts. Has great bus speed and keeps the computer running without a hitch. Would definitely recommend it.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: Haven't flashed the BIOS yet. Should probably do that at some point. Still works with all my gear even without the flash, no problem.

Rating + 5 Worked As Expected

Pros: Came with HDMI -> DVI adapter so it supports HDMI, DVI, and SVGA. Came with all expected cabling and such. It worked first boot with no nagging.

Cons: Floppy port is poorly placed on the motherboard, and cord is short. I had trouble making the connection with two PCI cards in place. The case LED & Switch area is difficult to read(as usual for motherboards)

Other Thoughts: This motherboard is a good mid-level AM2 board that will get you onto the AM2 platform. I'm going to use it for a bit and then upgrade to a top-shelf motherboard(prolly DFI LanParty), as AM2+.

Rating + 2 avoid this product

Pros: I'm sure gigabyte makes other boards that function..

Cons: Ordered open box (so my fault) but item was DOA. Did not post. No VGA output. No "system ok" beep. RMA was issued, but still had to pay shipping/restocking fee.

Other Thoughts: Avoid this product.

Rating + 1 Blegh

Pros: Its..small? It has excellent...'uh..I'll let you know when I find out.

Cons: Where do I start.. Only has one IDE port, can't take more than two Gigs of RAM, the CPU and Heatsink station is so small you have to mount an EXTREMELY small heatsink, very few ports for extras like USBs, and it has little to no support from Gigabyte. I've had it for a week and I still haven't gotten the sound working.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemies. I'll never buy Gigabyte again.

Rating + 5 Awesome motherboard

Pros: In this changing world this is an easy way to step up to the new technology without going all the way. Good blend from the old to the new.

Cons: Had to order SATA DVD-RW's because I didn't notice it only has one PATA connector, and it's right there in plain site-DUH.

Rating + 2 Another piece of garbage from Gigabyte

Pros: none

Cons: Wasted 40+ hours on this piece. The Realtek HD Audio doesn't work as others have posted. The motherboard also reboots spontaneously. For those reasons, it is garbage now.

Other Thoughts: junk parts are way too common. Almost everything I buy nowadays doesn't do what it says 100%

Rating + 5 Outstanding!

Pros: Tons of features at an excellent price. Don't miss the relative lack of PCI connections. Everything worked first time out of the box

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Replaced an A sus M3a with this board. What a difference! I was at my wits' end with the other board. this one is a dream in comparison, and it costs less!

Way to go Gigabyte!

Rating + 2 Died after 10 weeks

Pros: Worked great for 10 weeks...

Cons: I'm disappointed that this board died after only 10 weeks. I shut the pc down because storms were approaching, so just thought I'd play it safe (even though it is on a APC battery backup unit, which is pluged into a surge protector). Next day, it wouldn't boot, would not POST (although keyboard did flash), but I couldn't enter the bios/setup either. Checked other components. Will try Gigabyte's customer service, but if they balk, they're history!!!

Rating + 5 I Like it

Pros: Competitively priced with tons of connections.

Cons: No cons with the board, but a little worried about gigbyte's support for the board. The driver CD did not come with the all correct drivers on it, or the driver install program is defected. After several attempts to use gigbytes automated driver install program it listed all the drivers as installed, but even so some of the MB functions did not work. Had to download and manually install the drivers to get the board fully functional. Another thing is that system analysis programs (like Everest Home) and online scanners (like crucial.com's memory scanner) cannot detect what type of MB this is or the model. Newegg does not even have this model listed in the Memory Configurator.

Other Thoughts: Aside from my concerns about support for this board, I really like it. I think there will always be a gap between a products quality and support for it, because of the rapid pace of new technology development and market competitiveness. But hopefully it will get better for this board as time goes by.

Rating + 5 Great for first build

Pros: I used this board for my first build (budget) and had no problems with it what-so-ever. The layout is good and the manual is quite helpful. It posted on the first try. At some point I will be adding a video card but for now, the on-board video is fine, (I do moderate to heavy a/v editing.)

Cons: As others have noted, this is a smaller ATX board and doesn't reach/fit all the case stand-offs, but it fit well enough
for a secure install. I didn't feel it was enough of a con to deduct an egg however.

Other Thoughts: Some reviewers have had problems with the audio off the installation disk, but it worked for me. I went ahead and downloaded the updated driver from the Realtek site anyway and found the sound to be a bit cleaner.
(AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400 Brisbane 2.3GHz, A-DATA 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800, Antec earthwatts 430, HP DVD/CD w/Lightscribe----all from Newegg!!!)

Rating + 4 NIce, but I shoulda waited

Pros: Nice integrated m/b. Pretty easy install. Lots of slots. Sata HD and DVD recognized immediately. Uses Crucial memory well. Nothing hiccuped at all, until the sound.

Cons: Onboard sound took a little while to get right. Use the directions on the Gigabyte site. They will walk you through it.

Other Thoughts: This board works. I even played FEAR (640 X 480) with the onboard graphics. Not fancy, but it works. Obviously you aren't going to buy this board for heavy gaming w/o another video card. I'm wondering how this board (and all 690G boards) will fair with the new AMD integrated video chipset out now. This works well, but I wish I would have waited a little longer.

Pros: good board without the bells and whistles that more money will get you. If you are looking for an inexpensive functional board, this is it.

Cons: What you see is what you get.

Rating + 1 would not buy

Pros: Sounds good on paper.

Cons: Drivers from both the CD and the Gigabyte website do not work. Audio doesn't work, there's issues with the PCI slots. I've reloaded drivers and it doesn't seem to change. It takes a long time for the system to boot as well. I've spent hours on this PC and it still has problems.

Other Thoughts: I thought Gigabyte made a good product, however, after this encounter I do not believe I will purchase anymore of their products. I could understand issues like this from a $25.00 board but not at this cost.

Rating + 3 Onboard graphics not enough for Vista

Pros: Reasonably priced, good quality, easy install, nice features

Cons: The x1250 is just not up to snuff. Vista rates it a 1. The GeForce 6100 on my GA-M61P-S3 gets a 3 and IS much better.

If you've got older cards only having 2 PCI slots might be a problem.

It can be a pain booting from a SATA 3gb drive.

Other Thoughts: X2 5000+, 2x1gb PC6400 A-DATA memory, Coolermaster CM690 case and Extreme Power 500W PSU, Seagate 7200.10 250gb, Samsung double layer dvd writer.

Rating + 5 Nice board

Pros: Nice setup, enough room betwen RAM sockets and CPS for a large heatsink to fit. Dropped in 4 GB RAM, Windows sees 3.25 and I set 512 MB to video and it runs sweet, so I only lose 256 MB of my 4 GB.

Cons: Easy tune software is ok, but the interface is kinda shotty imo. It works, but not as I had expected.

Other Thoughts: AMD 5k BE on this board with no OC still gets a Windows rating of 5.1 on all but video (It's not a 3D VPU).

Rating + 5 Works GREAT!

Pros: Thing works flawlessly. Zero Problems.

Cons: No phyiscal problems. But just personal comments. The floppy drive port is under the very bottom PCI slot. I mean, what the heck? You can barely get to it. Its a real pain. I also don't like how its crossfire able but you have to use one PCI 16 and a PCI 4/1 card with it. That doesn't help you much because way I understand it it doubles the lower of the two cards and your better off getting a bigger PCI 16 to begin with.

Other Thoughts: Just what I said in the cons. Nothing else to add.

Rating + 5 Works Great for Server 2008 HyperV

Pros: I picked up this board to re-build a server with Server 2008 virtualization support. This board has worked flawlessly thus far. Running Server 2008 RTM with the RC0 virtualization bits.

Cons: Doesn't quite match up with the standard ATX support pins (too short). Not a huge deal, just be careful when adding RAM.

Rating + 5 Great Board

Pros: Easy to work with. Vista certified. Smooth installation and updating of BIOS. I used to be an ASUS hack, but after too many of there MB just crapping out on me, I finally went to this one and haven't had a problem since. Great board for novice builders.

Cons: If you're expecting anything fancy like dual PCI-E 16 slots, forget it. This is a vanilla board for a entry to mid range computer. Onboard video isn't worth it for gaming, so buy a separate graphics card for triple a games. (i.e.- Crysis, HL2, etc.)

Other Thoughts: Not a real con, but this board didn't match the pre-placed MB mount in my Antec P180 case, so make sure the case you have or are going to buy has adjustable MB mounts.

Rating + 5 Great Motherboard

Pros: This MB has it all. Component layout is good. Stock HS sat very easily. Driver installation is a breeze. Rare MB which is an ATX and has video with HDMI onboard. Not OC'ed. No need for it. Surprisingly, the SB/NB heatsinks are not hot at all, barely warm. No need for me to put extra fan over them. Outstanding documentation. Worked right out of the box. Highly recommended and very satisfied.

Cons: Minor inconveniences:
1> Only one set of IDE connectors;
2> Audio driver did not work off the CD, but worked after loading the drivers from website;
3> Video is sometimes shaky in quality, otherwise great and supports the higher video resolution.

Other Thoughts: Computer: Windows XP SP3(Final), AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor with Stock Heatsink, CORSAIR XMS2 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit, 3 SATA drives as Native IDE mode; Sony NEC Optiarc 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE.

Rating + 4 Great Board, Bad ATI

Pros: Bought the board for a build for a friend. Great board for AM2 sockets with the ability to handle HD/Blue Ray... All the other Gigabyte goodies. Handle up to X2 6400'. Average overclock capability. Stable Product

Cons: On Board Video is HORRIBLE. Go with ANYTHING Nvidia over the onboard. Installed all drivers and video was choppy and lagging. Went on Gigabytes site, same driver that came on the disc. I had an old evga 7800gt I installed and it ran FLAWLESS . Otherwise, another good product from Gigabyte

Other Thoughts: Not blaming Gigabyte for bad video, but would of been 5 eggs if it had an Nvidia chipset. still a solid product

Pros: This mother board is great for running high end AMD processors like the AMD 64x2 6400+ black edition which i also own. Easy to use and set up, works right out the box.

Cons: Had some trouble with the Bios and Vista ultimate at first which was fixed when i installed a new BIOS update.

Other Thoughts: Great buy for the price. If you do want to run Vista 64bit however, you should think of getting a better video card as the on board one's quality is not the best.

Cons: None atm

Other Thoughts: You can access the advance functions on the board ( Memory, PCI E etc. ) through the main screen of the bios. Just hit CTRL + F1

Rating + 5 A Correction

Pros: Almost the perfect board for non-gamers. I give it two stars earlier because of stability problems with 8 Gbytes installed. It is now solid, and the instability wasn't the fault of the board design or manufacture (though in a perfect world Gigabyte might have provided more guidance about memory vendors). You can add a higher performance graphics board later if you need to, but the Radeon 1250 is quite decent. Were we still in the bitblt world, I'd guess it would be terrific, for all the memory it maps.

Cons: It took some time to get it all working. Time is money, I suppose, but then I wouldn't have built my own systems

Other Thoughts: What appeared as chipset problems were all resolved when I replaced the G.Skill memory, which is working fine on another processor, albeit with slower timing, with 8 Gbytes of Mushkin 996587, at 5-4-4-12. Loading issues with memory are critical at speed, and I used the low-power AMD BE-2400, which has its own memory controller. One can only guess and try, so I wanted to report to the NewEgg community. The Mushkin ran the extended memory diagnostics from Microsoft for 18 hours. I do recommend installing Vista 64 SP1 before loading any other drivers. Then, get the ATI driver suite (Catalyst) from AMD/ATI. The newest drivers for all the ATI chipset components were published in Feb. They work together. Don't bother loading .NET 2.0, as ATI specifies. It has been superceeded. I loaded 3.5 and everything is fine. No need to load any other drivers. I'm using the Ver 5 Bios and, using a floppy, installed with AHCI mode.

Rating + 5 Nice.... nice

Pros: Posted first time which makes me a happy camper. Paired with 5000 Black, 2gb G-Skill RAM, 7900GS, 2 WD SATA 160gb HDs, Abit PCI-E 1x WiFi no problemo. Good frames at HD res. on any game. Going to try a 2600XT in here and see how the ATI/AMD pairing works. Got this with the intention of going back to ATI, 3870 dropping in $ so Ill soon upgrade again.

Cons: Lack of memory timing/tweaking options in the BIOS (all the CPU stuff is there along with hardware video oc'ing).

Other Thoughts: Good board, quality for a good price makes me happy.

Rating + 4 Good board, small problems

Pros: Low price, nice feature set, great for an office workstation.

Cons: 1. BIG FIRMWARE ISSUE! I have purchased 2 of these boards. The first one gave me no trouble, but on the second one, attempting to install microsoft office, or the video drivers from the included (XP) CD failed. After an entire day of troubleshooting (eliminating HD, CD as conflicts) I decided to try updating the BIOS. Current bios revision is F5 which is what was on the board, but the gagabyte @bios utility "downgraded" it to version F4. Now everything installs fine.

2. Form Factor. Gigabyte claims this is an ATX board, but it is less than 9" wide. It doesn't reach the standard 9 ATX standoffs. You can still get 7 standoffs under it, and it is fairly stable, so this is only a minor issue.

Other Thoughts: Board is good, just be aware of the small form, and be ready to downgrade the bios.

Pros: Easy to install product full size ATX with Decent spacing. Running Amd 4400+ 2 gigs of ocz and bfg geforce 7800GTX. Everything works fineMake sure you watch because larger Pcie cards will cover part of your connections but does not interfere in any way. The drivers/utilities cd works fine for xp. No complaints.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Make sure you keep your system well cooled this mobo does not seem to be great at heat spreading but running 3 case fans i have no overheating issues even with overclocking.

Pros: Excellent board, very good user manual, the best I've seen. Hard to beat for the price, and Newegg service was unreal. On Thursday I placed the order for mobo, ram, hdd, & cpu. Shipping cost was an unreal $6.33, and I expected to receive it maybe Monday, probably Tuesday or Wednesday... Wrong! I had it Friday morning, LESS than 24 hours after I placed the order. Newegg was GREAT!

Cons: None so far... been rebuilding/installing software. Multiple reboots. Powered OFF/ON several times for "test" purposes... performs as expected!

Pros: Full ATX with onboard video, lots of PCIe slots, onboard HDMI with integrated audio. Displays Vista 64 Bit Media Center in all it's 1080p glory.

Cons: You really need to put the fastest possible CPU in this board if you want to watch 1080p video (Blu-Ray/HD-DVD) or buy an additional dedicated GPU. Cyberlink with Hardware Decode checked, choked on Transformers and BladeRunner on 2GB RAM and a 5200 X2

Pros: Full ATX size with micro-ATX features. Gigabyte stability and performance. Good looks. Nice layout. Really nice to have the optical audio out and HDMI built in. Can run PCI-E video card and onboard video at the same time, same for audio. If using the HD audio, can use both front and rear ports at the same time, too.

Cons: Had some trouble with the driver installation. Some of the drivers I downloaded from the website wouldn't work, even after re-downloading them. The disks that come with the mobo are OK, but the XpressInstall is kinda cheasy. I needed to create a floppy for setting up RAID, and the DL'd file from Gigabyte's website would not work. Using the disk, there is a particular way you need to copy the files to a floppy, not very intuitive. Could not copy/paste the required files like my previous Gigabyte board.

Other Thoughts: Really good deal for the money. Previous reviewer mentioned this board not working w/ 4GB RAM. This was not an issue for me, as I had zero problems installing Vista Business x64 w/ 4 GB RAM. I will continue to recommend Gigabyte mobos to people.

Cons: It wasn't free.

Rating + 5 Very Good

Pros: Decent overclocking capabilities, easily augmented with a more powerful northbridge fan. TONS of features, most notably, an HDMI port, which makes it (and it's little brother, the S2H) great for media center PCs. Last I checked, it was the only full ATX motherboard with an onboard HDMI port. TONS of PCI-e ports, including the cut-out x4.

Cons: The coloration is a bit off putting for some people, but I personally love how different it is from it's competition.

The only real beef I have with it is the choice of Gigabyte to not include solid capacitors throughout. This would give me more confidence in the board to put it in future builds I do for others, but the more recent series of motherboards from Gigabyte include that, so it's not a problem

Other Thoughts: I've bought 4 Gigabyte motherboards, and so far have been thoroughly pleased with their price, performance and longevity. Being a computer builder, I deal with many motherboard manufacturers, and Gigabyte has always been my favorite. Their products come with my highest recommendation.

Pros: 4 ram slots, many PCIe, and HDMI... Need I say more?

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: I have been a GigaByte fan for a long time, and will continue to be. I am normally a linux guy and raiding in linux comes easy to me. This machine was windows for a special reason and the motherboard setup the raid fast and easy, but took a while for me to realize to use the disk management. So much easier with a terminal imo.

Rating + 5 Overclocker

Pros: Ok. This thing will Overclock. My X2 cpu runs stock at 2100 (4000 X2). This is really easy to take it more then 3000. Solid. Stable.. even overclocked. Good OCing software.

Cons: ?

Other Thoughts: Of course, overclocking will have different results for everone. If you need to overclock more and you get ram limmeted, just tell it that you have DDR2 667 ram instead of DDR2 800 and it will decress the speed. Then up the system bus more and get the ram speed back up. AMD really makes it easy to overclock like that. I set my ram at DDR2 667 (really DDR2 800) and set my system clock to 276 for a CPU speed of ~ 2,800.

Pros: This is a great motherboard. It is compatible with alot of processors. This motherboard came with a special disk for vista drivers and xp drivers. There are BIOS updates to make this board compatible with the phenom processor.

Cons: This board would be nice if it was SLI ready. But since i will probably not be using my computer for gaming so this is not a big drawback for me. What did affect me though was that this board has only one IDE slot and i could not get a promise card to work. (this might have been because I am running XP 64-bit and vista and the proper drivers might not have been compatible) **good thing for IDE to SATA converters**

Other Thoughts: I ran a performance test and for some reason the rating went down as i ran the test one after another.

Pros: Great onboard sound, video, and lots of features. Yes I have 2 of these boards...

Rating + 4 It had what I needed.

Pros: ATI Radeon X1250 onboard graphics.
800mhz ram.

Assembled and installed XP Pro. Running fine so far.
Solid board.

Cons: As was other's experience, my northbridge is hot. Can't hold my finger on it for more than a few seconds. (No OCing.)
Bios shows processor temp at 35c and board temp at 38c while idling with ambient temp at 21c, but I don't know the actual nb temp.
Gigabyte apparently put a low profile heat sink in because the nb is right above the pcie x16 slot. (?)

Sound installation was tricky. I installed the Realtek audio, played a game, and lost sound. Uninstalled kb888111, reinstalled Realtek, and sound has been working ever since.

Other Thoughts: I'm thinking of replacing the northbridge heat sink. After some research, I think I'll purchase the Thermalright HR-05/IFX. According to the Thermalright website, the HR-05/IFX is compatible with the northbridge AND the southbridge("Dimension: L85.8 x W20(fin), W30(base)x H105 (mm), without fan."). Considering how close the northbridge is to the pcie x16 slot, the 20 mm width of the fins on the HR-05/IFX may allow a video card to be inserted there.

Thermalright also has an SLI model called the HR-05 SLI/IFX which is southbridge compatible, but I'm curious if it would work on the Gigabyte northbridge, although the Thermalright compatibility page doesn't say it is.

Rating + 2 A flawed chipset

Pros: The MA69G-S3H has most of what I needed - on-board graphics is tightly coupled to memory, which is ideal for photo editing - better than an off-board adapter, gig enet, 3 pcie slots, enought sata, lots of memory capacity (claimed 16 Gigabytes). I am delighted with the specs, and wanted to give AMD the business.

Cons: The time you will waste discovering that the chipset has a problem preventing the use of all four memory slots is inexcusable. As a former board and system developer, I am accustomed to being careful. Memory module integrators use mostly the same parts. I'm not an overclocker, I figured this was a conservative build. With Vista 64, this board is unstable and unusable at 8 Gbytes. G.Skill informed me that it is well known that the 690G has problems with the memory interface to the processor, in my case a BE-2400 Brisbane. Gigabyte wouldn't answer when I asked if they had tested 8 Gigabytes. I suppose this is why. Three sticks of G.Skill 6400 at 800 Mhz work fine, but Gigabyte claims 16 Gbytes and I bought 8. Their P35-DS3P works fine with 8 gig. as G.Skill support asserted it would. Perhaps there are are parts that will work - Gigabyte has no G.Skill in their dated approved memory list - but, other than suggesting 2V DDR voltage, offered no vendor tested for 4 sticks!

Other Thoughts: Newegg helps by providing this forum, since support for us who like to know what's in the box is not impressive. I may take advantage of Newegg's good business practice and try another memory vendor before abandoning the board. I'd say it is Gigabyte's failure to test the configurations, though there are lots to test, which should raise some questions about their reputation. There is much that can go wrong at these speeds, but memory problems with the 690G are, according to G.Skill, no secret, and usually require a board or part Rev (though I've seen workarounds for some serious chip flaws).

Rating + 5 Great budget board with bells and whistles...

Pros: Onboard video, 800mhz ram, full ATX many many extras for a good price... Onboard video is awsome, plays yahoo pool and movies via media player as good or better than my 1650pro.

Cons: Like some others in here, I am almost sure the diognostic tools included on the driver disk caused a recurring reboot problem. My computer went to reboot for an update being complete and it started booting over and over again, 10 times without touching base with windows fully loading again. Reinstalled Windows and didn't install the Tune5 or other diognostics again. Works like a dream now... Tealtec HD sound isn't working yet, but haven't spent any time trying to figure it out.

Other Thoughts: People can say what they want to about this being above a budget board price, but when you think about rock solid features and quality, what is $15 vs. real "value boards", that you still need a video card for? I just threw a 4600W $79 2gig dual channel Win Amp $40 with this board and some old componets I had laying around like a sata 80gig hard drive and IDE dvdr, along with a little artic silver and it cruises 32C all the time with stock heatsink no overclock...

Pros: Very stable!! Using this board in a very cheap HTPC setup. I used parts that I had laying around. But I didn't have a board. I bought this one at a cpu store. I salesman was telling me that this was one of the boards that people were using in their HTPC.

Cons: Cannot get the correct display setting to work on my TV. The screen always hangs off or there is a black outline. Might have to buy a better video card????

Other Thoughts: Overall very good board. Users can set video upto 1gig!! It could use one more pci slot, but i know that pci-e is the future.

Rating + 3 HDMI port is a waste

Pros: Installed easy, had no problems getting it setup or connected to other devices. The instructions are great (which to me is a critical part of a mobo). The onboard audio and optical out is great connected to a digital receiver.

Cons: I am using this in an HTPC configuration and my goal was to use the onboard video to output via HDMI to a 46" Samsung HDTV. The onboard video in not even close to sufficient for this configuration. Seriously, I wondered why they even bothered putting an HDMI port on the mobo if they wern't going to put some muscle behind the GPU. I had to buy a video card and bypass the onboard GPU.

Other Thoughts: If I didn't love Gigabyte brand so much I would have given this a 2 rating.

Pros: price, features, quality, nice bios options, fast, stable.

Cons: Can't think of any to be honest.

Other Thoughts: For the price you'd be hard pressed to find a board of this quality with this many features. This board is aimed at HTPC users, but with a dedicated sound and video card it will suffice as a gaming rig, too. I really like everything about this board and I am completely satisfied with my purchase as of now. Only time can tell how it will hold up in the long run, but any board from any manufacturer can have its problems. This is my first Gigabyte board and if all goes well it will not be my last. Thanks again Newegg. Truly awesome company.

Rating + 4 So far so good

Pros: Has everything I want in a MB & more; at an great price. Features usually found only on micro boards. So far everything works great. This board came with Bios ver F4, the latest for XP.

Cons: No floppy. (didn't think I wanted one) Front USB ports glitchy, might be the case?

Other Thoughts: Havn't tried the HDMI yet.
If you want to run XP you can't load the drivers for SATA as XP ONLY accepts floppy (A:) input. Xp only recognizes 3 brands as usb floppy.
Use nlite to remaster & load sata, vga and smbus drivers, don't keep a copy of current image or you'll get the constant reboot thing.

Pros: Very good motherboard with many features. Great for HTPC or enthusiasts

Cons: RAM slots very close together. Dual channel operation requires slots 1-2 or 3-4 if only using two sticks of RAM.

Other Thoughts: Occasionally the system will restart when a USB device is plugged in (external HDD, flashdrive, headsets, etc). Not sure if this is a fault with the motherboard or something else. It didn't do it with the previous MB, CPU, memory, and PSU.

Rating + 3 A Little Frustrating

Pros: Overall great layout. I have a monster heatsink with two 120mm fans and it fit perfectly. BIOS is wonderful and the onboard sound is working flawlessly. I'm using the onboard video so not sure on it.

Cons: My first one failed to POST after about a week. I tried to clear the CMOS and I got nothing, I had to RMA and it was out of stock, went with another retailer.

RAM Slots too close together, I had to remove the carbon fiber accents on my Geil DIMMs.

I also had some trouble with the EasyTune 5 software that came on the driver cd. It caused a driver conflict and would cause my computer to reboot. I uninstalled it and everything is fine now.

Other Thoughts: Overall I love the board, I researched Mobos for about 6-months to arrive on this one. When it died on me I was very disappointed and thought about going to a AM+ board but just couldn't do it. I love this board I'm just afraid this one is going to die on me too. If it wasn't for the failure this thing would have gotten 5 eggs for sure!!

Pros: Best board I could find in my price range. Everything works well -- I like the HDMI out for connecting my HDTV. Audio/Video drivers worked very well. Onboard graphics is quite good (for a non-gamer) - has no problems running at 1920x1080. Has good overclocking options in the BIOS.

Cons: Only 2 PATA devices max, not a huge deal.

Pros: has all the bells and whistles i could want, and its incredibly stable. everything on this board is recognized right away in linux. you also get decent overclocking options(i havent tried this out), and nice voltage options. overall the board is beautiful, and its not a bad price at all.

Cons: none really. ok well..maybe just one. i hate how the floppy is under the last PCI slot. that placement never ceases to annoy me, because you have to stretch the floppy cable right across the front of the board to connect it. also, i think there are only two fan headers? whatever my cons are only because im nitpicky.

Other Thoughts: great board and i highly recommend it. besides the petty things, i couldnt find a thing wrong. i havent tried the onboard in gaming as its just a word processing/email machine, however it suits those needs just fine. and also, what's the big deal with the sata connectors? its sideways...so you plug it in sideways. it's not slower because the connector is sideways, and its fastened securely in there. that as a con doesnt make a bit of sense.

Pros: Pretty good layout, almost everything I needed to work did.

Cons: Hot northbridge. I read another review where someone with this board successfully replaced the heatsink on it, but I couldn't get it off for the life of me. Think of the pins on a 775 Intel CPU heatsink, and shrink them to 1/5 of their size. Maybe I'm just an idiot, I dunno.

Again, don't bother with the onboard audio.

And finally, it died on me after 16 days. RMAing and having another one shipped out.

Other Thoughts: Rereviewing this 'cause of the random death.

Pros: Everything works well, except the onboard sound, which many other people have noted in these reviews.

I paired mine with an AMD 4800 dual core and G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 Dual Channel ram and it runs well.

Cons: My advice regarding the sound would be to avoid installing the Realtek drivers (including the ones on their website and on the CD that comes with the mobo). The Realtek drivers contain the Microsoft UAA audio codec which conflicts the with the realtek drivers and it will prevent the system from recognizing ANY sound device (including an add-on PCI audio card etc).

If you plan on using Windows XP SP2 beware that it includes the KB888111 driver (microsoft UAA driver) which is nearly impossible to remove and it will conflict with other sound drivers.

Other Thoughts: A lot of reviews have mentioned that the northbridge runs hot. This is true, but some reviews tend to overstate this fact. Its very warm to the touch but not that hot.

Rating + 4 nothing better than gigabyte

Pros: this mobo is perfect for those who like to keep it simple. gotta love onboard EVERYTHING. had problems w/ the sound(obviously i'm not the only one) but fixed that so the hd sound works great. the radeon 1250 vid isn't bad for onboard, just not recommended for gamers. lots of room for mem and high fsb

Cons: sound was annoying till i took the time to check the FAQ's page on the manufacturers site, but wasn't that big of a deal. they've probably fixed the drivers since i bought this so i'm sure that prob is fixed for new buyers and fixable if not

Other Thoughts: pair this w/ a decent cpu, mem, and vid card and ur good to go. i'm sittin on this board til more phenom boards are out, but would recomment this mobo and gigabyte in general to anyone

Rating + 5 Great mobo

Pros: Lots of features, including HDMI out for video and audio. Plenty of USB and firewire ports, lots of BIOS options.

Cons: Some BIOS options (like virtualization) have to be enabled using advanced settings and are hard to find.

Other Thoughts: If you're going to run Linux, be aware that this chipset supports only software raid. Also, virtualization (SMV) support is disabled by default. You need to use the advanced settings to enable.

Rating + 3 A little deceptive

Pros: It's a very nice board with good onboard video, SATA, etc. HDMI out is a plus and overall the board works very well.

Cons: Gigabyte disables SVM (AMD's hardware virtualization technology) in the BIOS and has been completely unresponsive to numerous requests for more information on the subject. I bought this board in part because I wanted to run a virtual host and now I can't do it with hardware assist. No one else has mentioned this in the reviews...

Rating + 4 Almost perfect...

Pros: Everything works for the most part.

Cons: Issues with the built-in sound like everyone else, but I opted to use my own sound card so it doesn't matter. One fairly large problem though: the northbridge runs insanely hot. Just playing CoD2 sent it soaring to 62c, hotter than my cpu.

Other Thoughts: AMD Athlon 6000+, 2 gigs RAM, 80 gig SATA, GeForce 8600, 550W PSU. I know a bunch of people have gotten a replacement heatsink for the northbridge, but can anyone recommend a specific product? I'd really appreciate it, and I'm sure it'll help out a lot of other people who buy this board.

Rating + 2 SATA AHCI doesnt work

Pros: supports 16 GB RAM, comes with HDMI out, supports 7.1 audio, it has everything you ever want in a motherboard and then some.

Cons: I have tried everything to make the SATA AHCI work but to no avail, is because of ultra ATA 100 hard drive? my existing configuration is :
1- AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+
2- Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500JB 250GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive
3- Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit
4- G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

Pros: Excellent MB for my new system. It recognized everything at 1st try. Good price.

Cons: it does not make coffee :)

Other Thoughts: paired with an X2 6000, 2 gigs of Crucial and an hd2600xt 512, it makes a great system.
Cannot comment on onboard video, i didn't use it.
It was my first built and everything went as expected.
Newegg rocks!

Rating + 5 SOLID MOBO

Pros: SOLID MOBO. Advanced OC options (CPU voltage to up to 1.55v I think, multiplier to 10.5x, advanced chipset overclocking (Hit ALT+F1 in BIOS), RAM voltage to 2.5v I think (my RAM required 2.2v and most boards wont provide that). Board recognized ALL hardware. I didnt really need to install any drivers at all (besides PCI-E graphics). Sound worked great unlike some others had reported on this and similar boards. Great layout and had all the connectors I needed. Came with 2x SATA cords (which I needed 2x and most boards come with one). Gigabyte is great and I would never build a system with anything else.

Cons: Not really a con, but the board labels the power LED as - at the bottom and + at the top. But the manual says + at the bottom and - at the top. It appears that the manual is right and the board is wrong. However it could be I misinterpreted everything.

Other Thoughts: Windows XP 64x SP2; COOLER MASTER Centurion 532 Mid Tower; Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC ATX 430W Power Supply; GIGABYTE GA-MA69G-S3H AM2 AMD 690G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard; AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Brisbane 2.1GHz Socket AM2 65W Processor (OC'd to 2.7GHz); Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit (4-4-4-12-1T @ 895MHz); EVGA 256-P2-N741-LR GeForce 8500GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card (OC'd to 520/520 MHz). Rating + 5 Mother of A board

Pros: Very nice board for the money with all the right upgrades, sata, pci express, yada, yada, yada.

Cons: On board video lacks power, I would upgrade with a card and let the board take care of rest. Another con would be only 1 IDE slot but if you don't have to force an upgrade and you are building a system from scratch it should be just fine.

Rating + 5 Fantastic MB

Pros: Has everything you need for a HTPC. HDMI, Optical Out. I have been searching for a new MB to replace my IC7-Max3 and this is perfect. Easy install, HDMI port worked immediately when connected to my HD Projector. Integrated Video is great with excellent color and sound is superb.

Cons: Hi Def Audi driver needs care when installing driver.

You need to make sure the Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio is disabled then removed before installing the sound card driver. There are numerous resources on how to get it installed. After that its a great MB.

Other Thoughts: Just as it has been reiterated in these reviews. Sound driver software is a little cludgy but worth it. I just wanted to make sure I posted the solution so people here could get it working.

Rating + 4 Overall not a bad product.

Pros: ATX form factor, hear it's pretty good OC (even though I didn't even get to that), @bios software is a good piece of software that is bundle in the installation cd. Very easy to update the bios via the web. I couldn't get the sound on this mobo to work. Install the drivers and XP would list as no audio device. Update the drivers/bios and no success. Frustrated i RMA for a refund and i'm getting a different board from another manufacturer. Gigabyte definitely have potential to be a good mobo manufacturer. Hey maybe I just got a bad one. This was my first Gigabyte board and I'm disappointed.

Cons: HD Audio didn't work for me. Runs pretty stable otherwise. The color scheme is a little crazy. The Sata ports is position weird. Would be nice to have uniform color on their cables.

Other Thoughts: I think the HDMI is worthless. I read a review on PCSTATS and listed this board as better OC'er than the ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe. That's pretty good consider it cost about 1/2 of the M2N-SLI.

Rating + 3 Hot NorthBridge

Pros: It's GIGABYTE. Comes with HDMI-DVI cable. All your usb,1394, and sound pins are in the stand format blocks and are marked well, makes for easy installation. Overall good layout. Reasonable price.

Cons: North bridge will overheat. NB fan is a must. Raid utility very basic; don’t think you can mirror an existing dive with data.

Rating + 5 Awesome MOB

Pros: This MOB has everything you need for creating a high end HTPC. Love it, it has HDMI out, and optical out. Very good documentation. the devil is in the details.

Cons: only one sys fan + cpu fan. could have used some more sys fans on MOB. But its a good MOB none the less.

Other Thoughts: Would buy this MOB again, no second thoughts.

Rating + 5 nice mobo

Pros: great board, I got it so i could finally go pci-e (had an msi am2 board that used agp that would crash due to old technology)board runs much smother that my last one. many bios options for tweaking, great hd sound, drivers are easy to install. great for some one looking for a single pci-e board(you can do sudo cross fire with the pci-e 4X slot but it wont be as good as a true cross fire/sli board)

Cons: IDE and FDD are in poor position. i recommend you throw out your flopy drive and stick to sata hard drives and burners

Other Thoughts: can't comment on the integrated video, i replaced my 1950pro agp for the 1900gt pci-e on sale for 99.98, great card and runs great with this board. a defiant buy for a regular person or modest to major gamer.

Rating + 5 Nice Board

Pros: This Board is very nice.Nice lay out, nice oc tools .Awesome board for the price for what it comes with.

Cons: The only thing that is bad about this board is the placement for the northbridge because its a tight fit to place a fan+heatsink on the nb. And YOU NEED a fan on your northbridge with this motherboard

Rating + 5 Nice board.

Pros: Great price. Great features. OC through bios (ctrl f1) and through windows utility. Sound has multiple stream, headphones can be on a different "device" than main speakers. Raid setup was pretty slick.

Cons: only 1 IDE connector. Documentation is poor.

Other Thoughts: If this is a new install, set the SATA mode in the bios BEFORE installing OS. When creating raid array, be cautions when playing with disk assignments. Deleting a partition is done with little warning. Seems to OC well, though my fsb max needed was only 250Mhz.
