Great budget board
Pros: Great board for the price obviously. Beats my out dated Compaq motherboard that came with my computer which didn't fully support 45nm chips. Upgrading to this board made my E5200 run at its full potential, instead of using only half of its speed at all times like how my old Compaq board did.
Cons: I do not know why, but for some reason this board will not apply my overclocking settings. Pushed the bus speed up to 280 on the E5200 but it will not overclock. It says clearly in the BIOS settings that it's going to be running this fast, but after a restart the changes do not apply, EVEN though it clearly says 3.5GHz in the BIOS settings. It still runs at its normal speed.
I even updated to the latest BIOS using the CD that came with the board, still no luck in overclocking.
My budget build specs: -Windows 7 Ultimate -Intel Pentium E5200 Dual-Core CPU 2.5GHz -2GB PC2-5300 667MHz DDR2 RAM -PNY GeForce 9800 GT 1GB GDDR3 -GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L Motherboard -120GB Seagate HDD -450W Sunbeam PSU -DVD/CD Burner X2
Other Thoughts: I don't know if it's my CPU's fault of the motherboard. But from the other reviews on this board, it seems like it's really good...... if it can actually APPLY the overclocking settings which for some reason mine doesn't :/

Energy Efficient Board
Pros: Great basic board, easy install and setup, fired right up, enough bios options to make it interesting. Energy efficient board
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Energy efficient, set this up using Intel E5200 CPU, 2G Ram (2 boards) WD 640G HD, and a generic 400W PSU. With a fresh install of XP and the supplied drivers this thing idles at 33W measured at the plug!!! Loaded to 70% CPU it draws 50W

G31M-ES2L rev2
Pros: Snow Leopard retail install works well with celeron e3200 for super cheap hackintosh.
Cons: like everyone else says rev2 has atheros chip for LAN, no good for osx. ended up purchasing encore gigabit card for ~$12. bump for newegg to update specs to reflect this :)

Great value!!!
Pros: Worked right out of the box. Nice compact size if you have a small case. Lots of useful settings in the BIOS, especially for OC.
Cons: Front audio header needs to be towards the front, IMO. My cable barely made it and I had to get creative with the way it is routed to make it reach. It could have used another sys fan header.
Other Thoughts: Using an E5200 and 2GB GSkill 1066 ram. I've been using Gigabyte boards in all of my builds in the past few years and have always been impressed.

Great Motherboard
Pros: Small size; Good layout; Able to use533, 667, or 800 RAM; Lots of options in Bios; Able to use P4, Core 2 Duo or Quad Core processor. Setup a breeze. Came as Rev2 with latest Bios already installed. Has dual bios incase of failure to boot when overclocking also can flash bios from bios without starting the OS. PCIe slot is above graphic adapter making it usable if graphic card is large and takes two slots. SATA connectors on board have a latch making the SATA cables stay on when moving the PC. Old board they just slipped on and kept falling off.
Cons: Placement of the Front Panel Audio connector is a pain. Located at back of board next to Rear Panel Auido out. Quit difficult to get to exspecially with short cable. All of the Card slots are extremely tight. Thought I was going to break the board trying to install RAM. Takes a lot of force. Post screen is somewhat long. To much info at startup.
Other Thoughts: I realy do like this board. Replaced an AsRock board and this one is a good 2inches shorter giving me more room between the mobo and front panel in my Apevia Q-Pack case. Running a P4 651 3.4ghz cpu and 4gb of 667 ram. Will change cpu later. Had it just laying around. Not an overclocker but might play around with it when new cpu comes in. Lots more Bios settings than my old board. Cons were no biggie as I can live easly with them. If I have to remove the mobo I'll have to remove the Graphic card before I can unplug the Front Panel Audio. I only expect to do this when new cpu comes in, whenever that is. All in all this is a great motherboard. It will do what I want with room to spare.

works well
Pros: got this to replace my friends dead board that got ruined by his power supply.kinda funny the intel chip he had looked nothing like the socket but sure enough it worked.it was an older pentium lga chip.i didnt think it would work at all after seeing the socket and the chip together.but sure enough it did.i looked on the gigabyte website for cpu socket support and it matched allot of cpus.it booted with no prob hassle free.dont really build intel machines i prefer to build amd systems but for repairs its unavoidable.i have to say i am impressed with this mobo.i found it to be easy and smooth running.headache free board and easy on the wallet too...
Cons: intel well thats not a con thats more of my opinion.

Working well
Pros: Easy install as with all other GByte boards I've used over the years. No issues, no complaints.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Used in a custom PC build for a family friend, some light gaming duty, media player functions. He treats it very rough, but she holds up and keeps plugging away. The same quality I always anticipate from Gigabyte.

Awesome mobo
Pros: I have not ran into any issues with this board at all. Even though it's a microATX, it's comparable to other regular ATX boards on the market.
-It does an awesome job for CPU overclocking. (3.7Ghz/1.35V/FSB is just a tad over 1400mhz. NO blue screen of death, no freezing, just perfect! See below for other thoughts.) -It can hold 1 large pci-e video card, as long as your case is a decent size You can throw in another PCI card for whatever your purpose is. (I originially used a C-Media HD audio card but took it out since I don't use it as often as I'd like).
All in all, it's a great mobo for what it's worth.
Cons: This is not a con, but if you're complaining about this board not working properly, RMA it. No need to give it a horrible rating. Also if you are pushing this board to its limits, expect something bad to happen to it (just like any other product). And, if you're complaining about it not having enough features, you're a cheapskate for not buying a mobo (that's probably more expensive) for your needs.
/Rant
Other Thoughts: Gigabyte makes pretty good quality products. I highly recommend this for anybody that is on a budget build and doesn't want to break the bank. Granted, I like nice things, so I did my research, pieced together my setup and am still under 600 dollars. If you're like me, you can find the best sales and you don't necessarily have to buy from NEWEGG. It's still a great place to shop though.
My setup:
- 2 monitors: 23" Viewsonic & 17" Gateway -Thermaltake Element T case -GA-G31M-ES2L mobo -Intel E7400 overclocked/overvolted -Corsair H50 push/pull - 2 Rosewill 120mm red fans -Thermaltake Spirit II for the NB -XFX 8800GTX (mild overclock) -WD 120gb hard drive -WD 500gb hard drive -WD 200gb hard drive -Rosewill 530w 80 series power supply -2 Scythe "Ultra Kaze" 3000 front case fans -Scythe Kaze Q fan control for push/pull setup and Ultra Kaze fans 1 120mm Rosewill side case fan 1 120mm Thermaltake rear case fan 1 200mm Thermaltake top case fan

Great little board.
Pros: Features Price Amount of SATA ports Made for a mainstream build although the computer holds around a 5.0 on WEI only being held back by a lame DELL OEM GPU. Built in graphics if you want them.
Cons: Only issure I had was that they had USB keyboard and mouse support disabled which made me think the keyboard/board was broken but I figured it out. Though't I'd pass that piece of info onto my fellow Newegg shoppers. Could use one more fan connector; I used an adapter so I could put a third fan in (including CPU fan)
Other Thoughts: I will be using this board in one of my next builds and any other mainsteam customers I get.

great for the money
Pros: Great for a work station. It has everything you need : video, audio, network, several USB ports and a serial/COM port (unusual these days). Just need to add RAM, CPU, power supply, DVD/CD player, HDD and case.
Cons: None for my purpose, so I do not know how this card performs in a gaming environment.
Other Thoughts: This build is used at work to support a laboratory equipment (a Fourrier Transform Interferometer). It does not require any fancy graphics but need a lot of CPU power to perform heavy statistical analysis (PLS especially). That machine requires a COM port and a USB port.

poor quality
Pros: Worked great for the first month. But as soon as i upgraded the cpu i got problems. the board says it fully supports my cpu.
Cons: upgraded ram and cpu for more performance and got less. cpu runs slower board doesn't set the memory to the right timing. and theres no option to change it. network adapter vanished. os says theres not one detected. had to install a after market one to get online again.
Other Thoughts: upgrade was to a e8200 2.66 ghz cpu and 2gb ozc fatal1ty 1066 memory os windows 7 64bit 3dmark was 6342.
before upgrade intel Pentium d 920 3.0 ghz cpu and 2gb of Kingston 667 memory os windows 7 64bit 3dmark was 7828
so u do the math faster cpu and faster ram with lower 3dmark scores doesnt make since huh. rmaing right now

Great mobo
Pros: This is a great uATX mobo (I have 2 of them). A little old at this point, but still very feature rich for the price. This is the cheapest Intel uATX mobo I have found that has a SPDIF header, gigabit ethernet, SATA+PATA connectors, etc. Runs great with linux. The BIOS supports limited OCing, but I was easily able to get my E5200 running at 3.0GHz using the supplied M.I.T. features of the BIOS.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: It also happens to be very well suited for osx86 experiments, altho rev 2 mobos may require a separate NIC (not sure you can buy rev 1 at this point)

First-Time Gigabyte Buyer (Now a Fan)
Pros: As an IT professional people are always asking my opinion on technology, both inside and outside of my company. My supervisor turned me onto the Gigabyte brand of products not too long ago and this was my first purchase. I am extremely happy and will point out why:
A note: It should be understood that this board is not a performance grade motherboard. It is recommended for low to mid-range systems at best, IMO.
The motherboard has quite a few features in the system BIOS and I was actually surprised to find that it has over-clocking capability built into the unit. This is rare on many micro-ATX form-factor boards.
The installation was a breeze. The board behaves as it should; no more, no less. If you're looking for a cheap board that will perform admirably for every day computing, this is a great purchase (Intel chipsets; no shoddy VIA hardware here).
I highly recommend this board to all for every day use.
Cons: As stated in my "Pros" section, this is meant to be a low to mid-ranged board. There is only one PCI Express x16 slot (sorry, no SLI/Crossfire here). Also, the board only supports 4GB of memory. However, if you're looking to put more than that in a system, you're going to spend more money anyway.
This board is for Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad, which means that it is outdated by the more powerful and vastly more expensive Core i7, i5 and soon-to-be released i3 series chips.
I can't really knock on this board at all however, because it does everything it claims to do. It's stable and reliable. If you use the over-clocking features M.I.T. I believe it is called, just be sure you know what you're doing.
Otherwise, it's a great piece of hardware.
Other Thoughts: I am an avid gamer. I didn't intend to use this board for my gaming computer, however, circumstances led to me using the machine I built with this board as my main rig. I put 4GB of memory in the board, along with an intel core 2 duo e8400 (3.0 GHz) and an nVidia 8600GT over-clocked edition (all purchased through Newegg).
I was really surprised at how well this board holds up under the heavy load of games such as COD: World at War and Assassin's Creed. This probably has more to do with the processor and graphics card, however, the system as a whole works great!
If you're looking for a cheap board that will be perfect for a small tower and perform your every-day needs then this is definitely the board for you. And, while I will not recommend it for gaming, you could use it for such, as I am, if you really wanted to.

Fast Little Board
Pros: Board boots fast to Win 7 in under 10 seconds with an E5200 OC'd to 3.33GHZ. Can use for fast internet surfing or a medium stage gaming rig. Will blow through all games with a decent videocard.
Cons: -nada-
Other Thoughts: If you have no need for raid, this board works well. Raid slows down the boot process considerably anyway. If your not into megastorage, hardrives are big enough now a days, this board is for you.

Couldn't be happier
Pros: This was my first PC that I built totally alone. I researched parts for a month. I was amazed I had zero problems. Everything went perfect. I put in 4GB of Corsair Ram and the Intel 5200 Processor. I had a almost new Corsair 650W PSU that I used. I've been using it for about three months and all is great and the processor runs at 28° which is way lower than my old PC. I'm still using the onboard sound and video. It's doing everything I need it to do and I wasn't expecting to be happy with onboard stuff. I'm happy.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I'm glad I selected Gigabyte.

Great
Pros: Used this for building my brother's computer. I never overclocked before and I got a E5300 to 3.0GHz on my first try. It made it super easy. I didn't need it any higher than that as he doesn't use his computer much.
Cons: None

good motherboard until
Pros: solid board solid name brand use name brand ram, hd, you will have a solid system
Cons: had problems recognizing 8800 gt but that was probably the cards fault. the svideo port had an adapter for the component inputs on me 50" plasma :-)
Other Thoughts: shoulf have known betttttttterrr than to werk on computer when sitting on carpet. static electricity zzzzt pop goes the circuit. Okay not exactly like that but it does not take a lot of static electricity to kill a motherboard. Now that I think about it, I hope that nothing else was fried :-(

Nice mobo, beware the x1 slot
Pros: Good mobo for a home theater machine.
Cons: The x1 slot doesn't allow for longer boards (e.g., some dual-tuner boards). Long x1 boards intersect the RAM slots. See the mobo picture. An x1 riser might solve the problem (if you can find one).
Other Thoughts: Considering Intel BOXDG43GT LGA 775 Intel G43 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard as an alternative.

Inexpensive/Reliable
Pros: Micro-atx/DDR2 800 support/decent board layout.
Cons: only 4 SATA ports - 6, or even 8 would have been fantastic.
Other Thoughts: I have 3 of these now.. 1 with an E5300 and 2 with E6700's. 2 of them serve as PC's for my wife and daughter with 9800GTX+ video cards - the 3rd is running windows home server - none of these systems has had any stability problems in the 2 years I've been using them.

Plz... Don't buy it
Pros: Price..
Cons: Do not believe RMA from New egg. My one was defeced(bent socket) and I asked RMA. I paid delivery fee and anyway, I sent it. after one weeks, newegg sent me e-mail that newegg denied RMA.
Other Thoughts: It was not my fault. I did not bent my motherboard socket at all. I was working computer store for 2 yr. To request RMA, I sent e-mail two times. However Newegg just denied my RMA without any reason. Actually the reason I used Newegg is good RMA. Anyway, do not buy motherboard stuff in Newegg. It was terrible..!!!!!!

Decent board for the money
Pros: Under $50.
Cons: Newegg has the LAN labeled as Realtek 8111C, but it turns out to be Atheros AR8131. Very disappointing because now I have to buy a LAN card since my choice of Operating Systems will not recognize the Atheros card.
Other Thoughts: Gigabyte needs to update newegg when they change revisions. Newegg service has been great.

Pros: Very reliable, nice overclocker, excellent features for micro ATX. Replaced the board in a friend's eMachine with this. Couldn't be happier.
Cons: Does it even need a floppy connector if it's going to be where it is?
Other Thoughts: Perfect for those OEM cases in need of a new motherboard! Used an e1400 Celeron and OC'd it to over 3GHz no problem.

Great while it lasted...
Pros: Great bang for your buck. Very easy and pretty wide OCing options for a board at this price. Easy install and good layout. Great and cheap performance when paired with a E5300.
Cons: Died 3 months into owning this board for no reason at all. Spent countless hours swapping out parts while in denial thinking a board I had for 3 months wouldn't die already.
Guessed wrong, ended up being the board.
Other Thoughts: After debating for over a week I decided to give this board another try and bought another one. Call me stupid but with so many positive reviews I'm just hoping it was a lemon.
Anyone have any idea how the RMA process through Gigabyte is? Heard it's a nightmare and not even worth going through.
Don't think RMAing through Newegg is even possible at this point in time since its been 3+ months.

Good Board
Pros: Easy install, decent amount of expansion ports, plenty of sata for a small board
Cons: My boot time is longer than with my old board which was 400 mhz memory.(i have 1 gig DDR2 pc2-5300 667mhz in it now).but i bought this board on emergency because my old board fried and was just before xmas..had too much cash out already so had to go cheap. So i had 2 gigs mem in my last one...couldnt use in this. No complaints with it though dont take me wrong on this...i will have 2 gigs corsair in it soon..then will be swapped into my wifes comp. and im buying a full size atx for my new case i bought from newegg.. i want to jam my comp full of goodies man i love it..mAtx is alright but i want tons of stuff.
Other Thoughts: This is a good board..just remember it has mostly SATA so if you have ATA molex connected stuff...this board only has one of those. Think about moving to SATA...its faster and alot neater inside imho..

DOA
Pros: BIOS definitely seemed full-featured, as with the other Gigabyte boards I've had in the past.
Cons: The board lasted about 5 minutes after turn-on. That is, a few minutes to check out settings and arrange for USB boot. And one minute to see Debian begin to install before the board wouldn't power on at all.
Other Thoughts: This is my first DOA motherboard, and I probably would have RMA'd for another one if not for lack of confidence. I went with a Biostar which is running fine.

Newgg comes through again
Pros: First board DOA. I spent two days trying to get it to work, etc. Newegg RMA'd, got it back and it worked right away. No issues at all.
Cons: There are no cons, other than I got a board that didn't work. It happens sometimes, it caused a delay in setting up my son's computer.
Other Thoughts: The fact that newegg provides excellent service is the reason I've been shopping here for years and will continue to do so.

Awesome
Pros: Decided to throw this budget board in a new build and can't say I've had any regrets. If you have even a slight amount of OC knowledge this board can light a fire.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Satisfied.

Awesome little board!
Pros: Small, cheap, good brand. Easy access to SATA for HTPC use. Loved that they actually silk screen the name of the pins for the power switch and reset.
Cons: No cons. Boards perfect for tiny installs.
Other Thoughts: Pooled new and old parts to create a HTPC using this board. Moved the CPU and memory with not issue. Booted first try, 99.99% they do for me. Love the layout, easy access

Another Cut Corner
Pros: Typical Gigabyte quality. Nice hardware and cable selection included.
Cons: NO RAID!
Other Thoughts: This is the second motherboard I've purchased from Gigabyte in the last 2 months where they've cut a corner to save 2 bucks by removing a feature that is standard on almost every board on this site. Read the fine print on Gigabyte, don't make assumptions like I did. On a G61 they set the board for single channel memory only. On this board they left of a RAID controller. After 18 years of building I will consider Gigabyte a backup product and buy Asus exclusively.

Excellent budget/media board.
Pros: These days I exclusively buy Gigabyte because this is the 8th motherboard I've purchased in two years for personal and family usage and not a single one of them has failed yet. Most of my builds are enthusiast with high overclocking and my preferred choices are usually the UD3P/UD3R and the DS3 series. However, I had to build my mother-in-law a low-end web box and this was exactly what I needed. Solid state caps and "just enough and no more" features for what I needed. I'm using this board in IDE mode with an older HDD and CDRW and everything posted and installed on the first go. No trouble whatsoever, no issues, absolutely no problems. I do not use any of the advanced power management features nor am I overclocking anything. I'm using the onboard video and an external 56k modem for network connectivity. See other thoughts for build spec.
Cons: None if you use it for what it was made for. It makes huge claims about overclocking on the box but you have to realize this product, despite the marketing, is not designed for the enthusiast market, or to be heavily overclocked. If you manage to get it heavily overclocked, more power to you, but that is not the target market and it is absolutely not equipped to do this (slightly thin PCB, poor chipset heatsink, cramped layout with minimalist approach to features, et al).
Other Thoughts: Great little board, hope it lasts as long as the rest of the Gigabyte boards I have purchased. Plenty of features for a low/mid range PC and high build quality make it a winner. Build spec with this board:
E1200 @ stock with stock intel HSF 1gb GSKILL DDR2 800 @ stock 80gb seagate IDE HDD old samsung CDRW Rosewill R379-M microATX case with Mini-ITX PSU TRENDnet TFM-560X 56k modem
Everything except the old HDD and CDRW purchased from Newegg, who remains as awesome as always. If Newegg was a girl, I'd kill to defend her honor. <3 u Newegg.

G31M-ES2L
Pros: Dual channel mem. architecture, Recognizes sata drives without doing the F6 thing for W XP sp3. Very responsive. Over clocks very well. Just very stable. I like it. Would not hesitate to buy another.
Cons: Not sure if it's the MB or the OS but when I insert a thumb drive or usb device it pops up the message that it would be faster if I use a 2.0 usb slot. I don't have any of the older usb devices and there are nothing but usb 2.0 slots on the machine. I have flashed to the FF Bios update. Curious. ICH7 is not a raid chip. (But a 10,000 rpm HDD would negate that a bit. I have a 7200 HDD and have no complaint.)
Other Thoughts: Replaced a Gigabyte board that had seen better days, w/ Nvidia 7100 chipset and was single channel. This board noticebly quicker with all of the old hardware. IE: WD 320GB sataII HDD, A-Data DDRII 800 2GB(2X1GB) ram(@ 960), Dual LiteOn DVD burners, C2D 4700-2.6 Conroe (@ 3.115), Nvidia Quadro 570. Internal flash drive. AutoDesk Inventer 8. Renders 3d machine parts smooth and quick. The whole reason for its existance. Does all of the routine stuff with ease. Surfs the net on cable internet(6.0) very fast. Downloads have been as fast as 1160.Mb's. Well worth the money.

Awesome board
Pros: Excellent for Overclocking. Love the BIOS settings. small and easy to manage
Cons: Small. Only one fan control. only 3 PCI slots.
Other Thoughts: For the price this is a great board. I had to RMA my first board but Newegg replaced it quickly. Would recommend it to anyone.

Two dead in 8 months
Pros: Small, easy installation. Lots of USB ports. Decently priced
Cons: 1st board I bought lasted 5 months. I bought another from Newegg when the 1st died so I did not have to wait forever on an RMA. Second board died 2 months later. Hopefully 3rd time is the charm with this board or I'll be switching back to Asus.

Horrible experiance
Pros: None
Cons: Board posted first time setup all bios settings got half way through a windows install and blue screen. figured it was somthing simple so I turn of board and turn it back on posts then turns off posts then turns off tried different psu different ram upon further inspection I notice that a pin is missing on the socket 775. I go to were I bought it and they said I cant return it and then go figure gigbyte has the same policy against RMA. So I am out 60 bucks for a defective board.
Other Thoughts: I know for a fact I did not bend the stupid thing you would have to be restarted to put a socket 775 CPU in wrong

smooth mobo replacement
Pros: Replaced broken motherboard w/o a hitch. No problem with atheros ethernet mentioned by others. 9400GT card fits fine in x16 slot. Nice board for budget system. Good user manual. Came up fine with XP Pro using E6750, DDR2-667 memory and drive from broken system, didn't even have to call MS.
Cons: 4G end of the road for memory expansion, but not a big deal for a basic system.
Other Thoughts: Download latest drivers to ensure smooth install, didn't use included CD (didn't need o/c either).

Great for the Price
Pros: Lots of USB ports, integrated graphics are actually not too bad. 4 sata inputs. This thing is small, inexpensive and has a lot of features.
Cons: I'd really have liked more than one PCIe x16 slot, but for $50 I'm pretty happy.
Other Thoughts: The best feature of this board is the price. If a basic system is all you need, this board includes everything you need to get going. If you're after a more powerful machine, this board has the add on capability.

Pros: cheap, 4 sata, 45nm support, etc
Cons: the atheros nic doesn't have linux support. chipset drivers are available, but I dont have time to recompile drivers every time I install a new linux.

It's a good name brand!
Pros: Board is well laid out for placing components. The pricepoint was at the high point of my budget, but it is better to go with a good brand than a bargin every time.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Other Thoughts: This is my 12th or 15th computer build, I needed a 2nd computer to stay on 24/7. I use it as a PVR/DVR. I wanted something cheap, but still having quality, so I went with know brand names such as gigabyte.

As good of a mobo as you'll get for $50
Pros: Paired with a Wolfdale Pentium Dual Core 2.8 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB.
Absolutely as good of a motherboard as you can ask for in this price range. Excellent overclocking tools. Easy-to-use.
Frankly, far more board than you would expect for $50.
Cons: A few more SATA ports would always be nice, but it is a cheap board.

Nice for the Price!
Pros: I had an older GiGabyte board (2 years) in my HTPC which died on me (I ran it 24x7). I replaced with this one and didn't even have to reinstall Windows 7, it just booted and ran. What a relief to not have to reinstall the OS.
Cons: Could use more RAM slots, but other than that it's great for the money.

Poor tech support
Pros: Very good price for the features, paired with an E5200 makes for great performance versus price. Various overclocking options in the BIOS and through a bundled application.
Cons: Plenty of overclocking options, but not many underclocking options in the BIOS.
The Easy Energy Saver feature seems to save less than a watt of power when the CPU is idle, and only a few watts when the CPU is fully loaded.
I've had problems trying to use the bundled Easy Energy Saver application which is paired with functionality in the BIOS and hardware. Tech support has been very unhelpful at resolving my problems, essentially ignoring my requests because I'm running Windows Home Server instead of XP or Vista.
Other Thoughts: I'm interested in saving power, not overclocking, and Gigabyte advertised energy saving features as the #1 feature on Gigabyte's product page for this board. The Easy Energy Saver application was easy enough to install and run, with a "set-it-and-forget-it" mode where the hardware will reduce the voltage and speed when CPU load is low. Apparently this is paired with something in the BIOS, and sometimes the boot sequence will hang with an "EES is not turned on" failure message, requiring user to press any key to continue booting, even though the BIOS boot option to "ignore all errors" is set. That doesn't work so well for a machine without a keyboard that lives in a closet.
I'd recommend staying away from this board if you want something that will boot reliably unattended in "energy saver" mode, which is what I wanted.
I'm very disappointed in Gigabyte's tech support and would choose a different brand of board next time simply based on my tech support experience.

Recommened
Pros: Allowed me to stably overclock my new Pentium E5300 to 3.66 Ghz! (11x333) As others have said, the dual bios is pretty slick, as it resets itself if it won't boot up when you're figuring out the settings for overclocking.
Cons: At the price, I can't think of any.
Other Thoughts: Rev.2 board. No problems with the LAN chip. First build and overclocking adventure. Took some trial and error getting the settings correct, but it was well worth it.
System: Gigabyte G31M-ES2L E5300 PNY Optima DDR2 PC2-6400 2x2Gb WD5001AALS Samsung Supermulti SH-S322L Asus EN9600GSO Thermaltake TR2-430 APEX TX-381-C Case

Great board
Pros: Like every other Gigabyte board, this is easy to set up and get running. No overclocking experience with this board. I just used it to run a Hackintosh.
Cons: This isn't a con for the board, but it is for Newegg. They list the LAN chipset as Realtek 8111C (also known as Rev. 1.x) but it uses the Atheros chipset (Rev. 2.0). I bought this because it was listed as Rev 1.x which is compatible out of the box, but now I have to buy a separate PCI NIC.

Good little board
Pros: This is a good little board. Upgraded my dads machine with this board an E8400 and a couple of gigs of G.Skill memory. Everything is working great.
Cons: The floppy connector is not very accessible, but hopefully your not using that anymore anyway.
Other Thoughts: For the price, it is a great little board.

Flex the multi-layer board...
Pros: Dependable, once you can finally get it working.
Cons: Flex the multi-layer board and you will have problems. Now have built three computers using this board. Last one wouldn't boot until I discovered that removing two of the six screws that attach the MOB to the case made it work perfectly. Used extreme care installing CPU on MOB before installing in case, but this didn't help. If yours won't power up, try removing MOB mounting screws one at a time to relieve stress on printed circuit layering.
Other Thoughts: All my computers have Gigabyte motherboards. Love'em, but this last one gave me fits.

Great Motherboard for the price
Pros: I used this motherboard in the first computer I built. Excellent value for the price, above average overclocking functions.
Cons: I believe it doesn't support raid, has only 2 ram slots, and 1 PCI-E slot. Northbridge gets hot so don't expect beastly clocks.
Other Thoughts: I still gave it 5 stars because it served its purpose better than I expected. Its an excellent value for price and recommend it to anyone who wants to try building a computer.

Great for the money
Pros: For $50 you can't go wrong. Great overclocking abilities, runs my Q6600 at 3.2GHz without a hiccup.
Cons: Has a conflicting pinout for AC'97 for my front audio ports on my P180 Mini.
Other Thoughts: Q6600 with a Zalman CNPS9500 mounted great.

Surprising OC and Great Dual Bios
Pros: Hit 4ghz(320 X 12.5) with the e5200. Dual Bios meant not having to fiddle around with the CMOS jumper every time it failed to boot as I was overclocking. Bios settings simply reverted to defaults. Given the OC, this board has been really solid. Love it!
Cons: Only Two Ram Slots Only 1 PCI-E Slot

Good Basic Board, except NIC
Pros: Good, cheap board. Used to upgrade from amd to intel processor.
Cons: Atheros NIC flaky. Sometimes not recognized at all (both bios and windows), sometimes recognized but with errors, and sometimes recognized with no errors but only works for a few minutes before locking. Ending up putting in a pci card that I had lying around which worked fine.
Other Thoughts: Bios will not automatically set correct multiplier for processor over 3 GHz.

Solid
Pros: A very solid product, works as advertised. For what it does, it does a very good job at doing it.
Cons: Skimps a bit on features, but is this really a con? This is a micro board, which means bare bones, low power, features, etc.
If I had to find a complaint, it would be that the Intel onboard video is VGA output, I'd like to see atleast DVI or HDMI. Bundling with an ATI 4350 would be ideal just to get the HDMI audio/video output.
Other Thoughts: I have built maybe 30 computers over the last 10 years, and I've placed this MB into 2 of them, one for my media computer, and another for my mom. They are very solid, both worked great and as intended. They would be my choice for a Micro ATX in the future.

Solid MB
Pros: High quality motherboard. Dual bios is great to play with OC'ing while allowing you to mess up, and always have your settings backed up.
Cons: only 2 memory slots. memory is getting so expensive that using smaller dimms would be nice...but to get 4GB 2x2 is the only way to go. Doesn't have hdmi, or dvi
Other Thoughts: Great board for the price. Simple layout. Great value

Pros: Its a good buy. It handles games and everything else fine and for a fair price. Nothing really stands out that makes this board great but thats not a con, it does what its supposed to. If you are building a mini pc this would be the mobo I would recomend.
Cons: Some of the connections are in very stupid locations. Nothing serious but one of the most obvious is the audio cable for the front jacks. its all the way at the back so I know on some cases like the one I bought its a big stretch.

Pros: It's a solid little motherboard. Has everything you could need on a mATX mobo. Plenty of BIOS settings. Lots of control over how the mobo acts.
Cons: A little short on overclocking features, but enough to get a new guy going with overclocking
Other Thoughts: It's a good, solid, cheap, motherboard. What more can you ask?

Hack / W7
Pros: Great board! Wrote an earlier review using this board as a strictly W7rc machine, but have since turned it into a hackintosh / W7rc (soon to be W7) machine. Runs OS X 10.6.1 with no issues. Your best bet is to search the web (not too hard to find) for some of the simple guides that explain step by step and which kexts you will need to make this board work. (Look up the OS X 86 wiki and search for this board there and whatever components you intend to use). Working great as a dual boot / dual drive machine matched with 4 GB G. Skill RAM, LG DVD Burner, E8400 and an ASUS 9600 GSO 512MB (although I had this working as a hack without the 9600, just no QE/CI ability on the onboard video GPU). Has enough SATA ports to get things done. Fairly decent layout and expanadbility.
Cons: No real CONs but just like my previous post - it would be nice to have another fan header. I have decent airflow but have since added the 9600 GSO to the mix. As a result I decided to drop the O.C. bit and leave the E8400 at 3.0GHz. I also decided to go the USB route instead of PS2 for inputs. That cuts back on the amount of USB slots you have left (only has 4 to begin with).
Other Thoughts: I wrote a previous 5 star post but feel like this is like having a brand new computer with OS X installed! I have a version 1.X board, I think they are making a 2.X board now. Have not looked into the differences yet.

Gigabyte board
Pros: Nice budget board, good sata placement, support for core 2 Proc's make this a super budget buy. It also supports the sckt 775 P4's, so you can always upgrade later if $ is tight. Only 2 DDR2 slots, but I solved this by using 2 GB modules.
Cons: haven't had any problems. The on-board graphics are a nice inclusion, but I would definitely get a graphics card if you are going to game on it.
Other Thoughts: I have used probably 4-5 of this mobo and they are terriffic!

Cheap and Stable
Pros: Price! this thing does everything you'd need if you're looking for a cheap board that's reliable and has the capability to be a primary system, not just a decent secondary system. Stability! It overclocks like a champ; you can't beat the its price performance ratio.
Cons: REALLY bad color scheme.
Other Thoughts: Used it to make a home server, but frankly it's probably more stable than a board I bought less than 2 years ago for 5 times the cost.

Owns
Pros: Great price. Had the serial port I still like to use. Able to get a near-flawless hackintosh setup with this, e6300 (oc'd to 2.6!), 3gb random memory and a raptor 150. Fast as heck.
Cons: Only 2 memory slots, but you have to go up about 25 bucks to get to that range anyways. ALC883 buggy to get running in OS X but that certainly isn't the motherboard's fault.
Other Thoughts: Very happy with this board, even running 7 i have a great experience.

Pros: cheap and has lots of integrated parts.
Cons: DOA out of box.
Other Thoughts: 2nd mobo was also DOA. spend the extra money and get the ga-ep45-udr3. it is worth the extra money

GIGABTE G31 MOBO
Pros: this is a great board for $60, upgraded from my Intel d946gzis board due to a bios issue with it, great little over clocker, got my 2.0ghz cpu running at 2.7ghz and the ram @ 883mhz, can handle up to quad cores so u can build a quick little machine for a good price, on board gpu " gma 3100 " is pretty decent runs windows 7 aero fine, can decode movies, in all a great board for the price
Cons: nothing really, having some ide problems, not to sure if its the controller of my dvd drive, thats about it, still rate it 5 stars
Other Thoughts: couldn't update the bios through flash drive, that was my own problem, but with there online bios update it was easy : )
waiting to put a dual / quad core in there and it will be a rocket
current pc specs:
Intel Celeron D 440 2.0Ghz @ 2.7Ghz 2Gb DDR2 667Mhz @ 883Mhz GIGABYTE G31 Seagate 250Gb 8Mb - Sata Cooler Master cpu cooler .. not sure of model Antec Tri Cool - 120mm 2 Generic case fans 80mm LG DVD RAM Drive - IDE Generic Case

Nice budget mobo
Pros: Out of the box this mobo was an easy install and included the basics to make a new computer build easy and quick.
It's a budget board with no frills features but supports mid range computing, quad core processors and adequately fast memory.
2 SATA cables and a PATA cable included and a nice warranty.
Gigabyte has been my board of choice for a while and this one didn't disappoint me. It booted up quick and easy, recognized all 4 SATA devices (2 WD Black Caviar 750Gb drives and 2 LiteOn DVD Burners), Q8400 Quad Cord processor and took a Windows 7 load without needing any special drivers.
This was a pleasure to use in my build and should provide my parents with a great computer for years to come.
Cons: Functionally, there are no cons - this is just a good motherboard.
However the pictures here on Newegg show that this board includes a floppy drive cable, but it does NOT. If you need a floppy cable and don't already have one lying around, then be sure to pick one up with your order. Newegg needs to update their product specs on this one - but it's not big enough a deal to deduct any eggs.
Other Thoughts: Remember - this is retail box with retail warranty, but it does NOT include a floppy drive cable.

Distortion
Pros: Great board. Fired right up and went to 3.4ghz right off the bat and hasn't blinked yet. Amazing capabilities on this board for the price point.
Cons: Considering the niche the board fills, and the price/performance. I can't see that there are any cons.
Other Thoughts: For the $50-$55 for this board, pair it with a cheap dual core.. overclock the snot out of it... and you will have a hell of a cheap system. I recommend these 2 for all of my budget builds.

I was sort of disappointed
Pros: Price. Period. But I feel owed for my time.
Cons: BIOS doesn't boot Windows OS (I tried XP, Vista and 7) from SATA DVD drive, tho would boot MSDOS disks OK. hadda install IDE drive to make it work, after hours of searching through BIOS settings. Also boot from mass storage device such as flashdrive not an option, tho list was large for boot options. RAM divisors are very limited, if you OC. I've never had to spend hours to pound an OS into a board like this.
Other Thoughts: I've really enjoyed other Gigabyte boards, but they definitely went went barebones here. So it goes, ya get wat you pay for, but it certainly will make think twice before next Gigabyte mobo purchase.
At the end have E2180 2 Ghz running at 3 Ghz w/ 800 memory, next step went to high.

Fantastic for the Price
Pros: What can you say, its the best $50 dollar 775 mobo on the market. Gigabyte is slowly becoming a motherboard leader and this board is an example on why that is. It supports a wide range of Intel processors from the P4 all the way up to the Quad Extreme series. It also has alot of the modern bells and whistles will still having legacy options.
Cons: its probably is the smallest MicroATX board you will ever see but its also an efficient design. Onboard x3100 is more than fine for Vista and Win7 Aero but is weak for modern games. I would recommend a 4670 if you want to game COD4 style with this board and stick it in the PCI-E 16x slot.
Some people say they have problems with the onboard LAN, but just dont mess with the BIOS settings on it and do the cable length test, it will mess up the Windows drivers. It has a cheap LAN chip like some have said but by no means bad. It was a cost cutting measure that saves the consumer 10 dollars on the board.
Other Thoughts: overclocked a Core 2 Duo e7200 to 3.8 stable on this board along with a Celeron 430 from 1.8 to 2.8 stable.
This board is criminally underated for what it can do. The Gigabyte engineers should win a award for such a great mobo with great features at a budget price.

Decent
Pros: Good bang for the buck. Better performance and looks than my old board.
Cons: Doesn't line up 100% with the slots in the back of my case, but it wasn't a big program. Everything still fit, but it was a little more snug. Onboard NIC is absolute trash. If you have internet troubles with this board than I'd suggest getting an aftermarket card.
Other Thoughts: Good bang for the buck. I expected some small problems for the price, but even the problems I had didn't make this a bad board.

not bad
Pros: small and easy to install
Cons: Worked for 6 mo and then failed. Would not boot bios at all. Ordered a replacement from New Egg. Attempting to RMA the old board. Gigabyte's technical support only allows you to email. Not a big fan of this option.
Other Thoughts: I dont much care for the heat sink holder on this board. It's a bit flimsy for my liking. Intel is probably more to blame for this though.

Nice
Pros: Great quality and organized layout. Works great.
Cons: No boot num-lock option in BIOS. I've never seen this before and it boggles my mind. Have to hit the num-lock key every time the compute is booted if you use the numeric key pad (I use it exclusively).
Other Thoughts: I am very happy with this board and picked it based on the many reviews here. It fired up without a hitch and runs reliably and solidly. I still can't imagine not having a num-lock setting in the BIOS.

Awesome Board for OSX86
Pros: I bought this motherboard to build a relatively-cheap Hackintosh (<$400) and this motherboard came up on my research as one of the easiest to work with.
Once all the parts are put together, installing Snow Leopard was a breeze. you don't even need to mess a lot with the BIOS settings at all.
Be warned though (and I think NewEgg should put this somewhere in the Specifications): There are two versions of this board (same model number, but one is marked as v1.x and the other as v2.x on the side of the box and/or on the board itself). Version 1.x integrated NIC works with OSX out of the box (you still need to tinker with kext files to get Bonjour working, though); v2.x does NOT because apparently the integrated NIC is not a Realtek chipset. Good thing NICs are a dime a dozen.
All in all, for half a benjamin, it's a good value.
Cons: You need to buy a separate NIC for Hackintosh. No built-in Firewire.

Good Budget/Basic Board
Pros: For the money and features, this is a real bargin board! I have done several builds for customers now with this board, and have had zero failures!
Cons: For this price, I have none. I had to run a BIOS update on one board to get it to run stable, but this is not considered a con.
Other Thoughts: For a basic, budget board, you can't go wrong with this MOBO.

DOA
Pros: Great board for OSX86, apart from the NIC.
Cons: Ran for 1 day and blew. Many others writing reviews have also had DoAs. It's probably a good board if you can get one that was made on the right day...

integrated network doesn't work with linux
Pros: haven't owned it long enough to compliment it. its currently working (aside from network issues), hopefully that continues
Cons: the integrated network adapter doesn't work with linux. fortunately i had an old network card laying around or i'd be upset.
Other Thoughts: i haven't had problems with gigabyte problems in the past, hopefully they don't make a habit of this.

New revision V2.0 is dissapointing
Pros: price maybe? for V1.1 is a network's IT dream.
Cons: I got two of those boards, one was V1.1 and worked great with linux, freebsd and open solaris, second one V.2. (w/ atheros NIC) didn't work on any of my OS's, then I tried windows XP, vista, and windows 7 with no success, there must be something wrong with my board, DOA only for the LAN card.
Other Thoughts: This is my second deffective board from gigabyte, the other one was an expensive gigabyte AM3 mobo. I'm done with gigabyte again. I Had a capacitor problems with expensive gigabyte mobos back in 2004, they died before the year or right after, do you remember the athlon fx-55 CPu's?

Very Unsatisfied Customer
Pros: A dead board dosen't have any
Cons: Second board to come in DOA!
Other Thoughts: First one came in DOA so I did a RMA in 3 days. I gave Gigabyte a second chance with the same board which had a lot of good reviews. Second board came in DOA as well! Who does the quality control on these things anyway?!? Newegg did an awesome job with both RMAs so far, but I'm rethinking my faith in Gigabyte.

another great budget build way to go beam
Pros: great job on first build paired with e5300 stock heatsink 3.6 ghz no problem prime95 stable board and chip would boot to windows at 4.0+ ghz but stock heatsink could not keep temps down beyond 3.6 board overclocked ram nicely
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: ctrl f1 to get in advanced bios this is the best budget board for first time builds and first time overclockers gave manual to 13 yr. old and he built his rig the next day with supervision he had no trouble at all paired with 9600gso

Good board.. works with Win7 RTM ( mostly )
Pros: Installed with "APEVIA X-QPACK2-GD/500 Black/ Green Computer Case With Side Panel Window" plenty of room, nice to have 2 PCI slots , I have a full sized tuner and wireless NIC. The BIOS OS with internet access and such is an interesting item ( I cant figure out how to make it optional to boot to though.. Ill keep looking as I have only had it one day).
The reason I bought it , as opposed to the Gigabyte board I was looking at? Nearly the same specs but Asus has great support and it was awesome to see that they responded to the Newegg review even!
Cons: The Win7 AMD64 install went flawless, for some reason it would not pick up the on board NIC initially but it did after a reboot .
The ACPI drivers and utils wont install - they say that they dont support this OS. Cant recall the exact error but its a shame as I wanted to use the cpu fan and power utils.

LAN chipset changed!
Pros: We've used hundreds of these boards. Great quality. Not a single one has failed yet.
Cons: We just got a new batch of them. All are "revision 2". The LAN chipset is an Atheros 8131. Good luck trying to make that work in a Linux server. We may have to switch motherboards just because of this change...

Beware! - Lan has changed
Pros: Great board with a good feature set for this price
Cons: Currently shipping boards are Rev2 with now use the AR8131 rather than the widely supported Realtek. Finding alternative drivers for AR8131 is currently impossible

Great on a budget
Pros: Nice board on a budget. Easy to follow BIOS descriptions even for a semi-novice. Posted i
Cons: Due to the compact size of this board, a TV tuner will not fit in the PCI Express x1 slot, it hits the memory.
Other Thoughts: I bought this board in a hurry to replace my Dell boat anchor that died, New Egg got it to me in 2 days! As stated in the cons, the PCI Express x1 slot will not accept a TV tuner card. That is not a big deal for me at this point as I plan on putting in Windows 7 next month and there are known issues with tuners for the time being.

GIGABYTE GA-G31M
Pros: I've built 2 budget PC's with this board and the wolfdale e6300 cpu's and they are both running fast and strong w/Win7 RC.
Cons: No firewire
Other Thoughts: You can actually buy a complete intel pwred PC that plays Crysis well for 400 (!) bucks if you shop around newegg. That's pretty cool!

Great Board for my Dads Work PC
Pros: Been running reliably for over 6 months with a Pentium D and 2 gigs of ram. Very inexpensive, very fast, very stable. Drivers are not an issue with XP at all.
Cons: None.

It is stable after 3 months
Pros: It sits in the pc I torture test using new benchmarks and pc test utilities I find on the web. With everything I have thrown at it, including a 96 hour prime 95 test and more, nothing has stopped working yet.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Tried to burn out it's network card by maxing it's traffic for 24 hours, couldn't do it.
