Rating + 4 Works fine!

Pros: Good design on the mobo.
The included SATA cables have right-angle connectors on one end, making cable routing easier, especially in a cramped case. There is also an eSATA connector that fits in to an empty slot on the back of the case.
DDR3 for a decent price!

Cons: BIOS is weird- Power LED goes out when the system is in standby, making the computer look like it's shut down. Makes it hard to tell if it's on or not. IDE connector is in a weird place, but who uses IDE anymore? eSATA connector blocks a PCI connector, but not a problem for me.

Rating + 5 Worked on first attempt

Pros: Worked on first try!

After a BIOS update the full speed of my processor was properly recognized. Been using for only a week, but so far I'm in love with it. I also can't wait to try out the Xpress Recovery2 software once my test-install is complete and I install for real. I also plan to change to a customized BIOS screen when I figure out how I want it to look- there's included software that allows the user to do this.

Cons: The biggest problem is Newegg lists the max RAM at 16GB, but Gigabyte's specs say it's only 8GB. I don't mind a limit of 8, but Newegg should correct the issue (or if BIOS updates make Newegg correct Gigabyte should fix their site).

With the video card I chose the SATA port area of the motherboard is a little... crowded, but I still have complete access to all ports.

Needed to update the BIOS to make my CPU show the full 3.0 GHz rather than just 2.7 GHz.

Other Thoughts: To avoid problems I used 4GB of recommended RAM: Kingston KVR1333D3N9/2G and recommended CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E8400. I don't know much about video cards, but I went with HIS H467QS1GH Radeon HD 4670 and have been satisfied.

Win7 rated this setup at 6.4 CPU, 6.9 RAM, and 6.7 Graphics.

Rating + 5 Revived a e4300

Pros: I bought this Mobo just to see if I could revive and extend some use out of and older e4300 which is 1800mhz and 800fsb stock. With this board and 2gigs of G.Skill DDR3 1600 ram I was able to OC the e4300 up to 3200mhz (400 X 8) and run the ram right at what its rated at as well-1600mhz.
Did this all on air with complete and total stability. Installed and runs Windows 7 with out any trouble. Prime-95 for over 8 hours, passes as many IntelBurn tests as I want. And I dropped my HyperPI time from 34 seconds to 19.50 sec.

Cons: I cant think of any at all.

Other Thoughts: Took some time but I squeezed some nice numbers out of the e4300. The G.Skill ram I bought also from NewEgg worked perfect, and runs right where its supposed to 9-9-9-24. Just bumped the mem voltage to 1.7 and that was it.

Also installed a Radeon 4850, and this cheapy box plays Modern Warfare-2, and NFS Shift with almost all the eye candy maxed with not trouble.

Rating + 5 Memory update

Pros: This is an update to the memory issues from gigabyte

Cons: The board seems to have an issue with the version of the BIOS F5 which is delivered with the mother board. One noticeable issue is the DDR3 "auto" voltage for the 1.5V memory sticks by the bios is 1.8V. According to gigabyte, upgrading to F7 should fix alot of the memory issues. I upgraded to F7 and the voltage dropped to 1.6V.

Other Thoughts: Currently running with GSkill DDR3-1600.
Board is overclocked
cpu bus increased from 333 to 350.
CIA2 is set to Racing
PCI bus is set to 100
everything else is default for "optimized" from the right side of the menu per gigabyte.
results with E8500 (3.16) is a stable system running the DDR3 memory at 1600 instead of 1333 and the CPU clock at 3.8 GHz instead of 3.16.
Nice extra is when the CPU is near 0%, CPU drops to 2.1 GHz (multiplier at 6x) and the CPU/DDR3 bus is at 350 (1400)

Rating + 4 gigabyte support are slackers

Pros: fast board with ddr3,hook up was easy and I liked the bios (easy to overclock)

Cons: I only had xp pro no service pack. Gigabyte does not mention that these newer boards have to have at least service pack 2 xp or it will blue screen (usb support error or something)

Other Thoughts: seems like good board ,but support takes way to long to help with anything. newegg is good but the eggsaver shipping takes forever.

Rating + 4 great board for overclocking

Pros: lots of sata ports
great o/cing potential
great construction (thick)
gigabyte name

Cons: no sli
fussy about ram voltage
not a good board for a first time builder

Other Thoughts: I needed to up my ram voltage to 1.6 for my system to be stable otherwise it would freeze terrable, And a person with limited knowledge of this would never have a clue what was wrong.excellent board for a more experienced builder and novice should tend to stay away , unless you enjoy abit of a challange and not affraid to get into the bios! otherside this is exactly what i wanted, was able to o/c my q9650 from 3.0 to 3.8 and be very stable at those clocks

Rating + 5 Analysis

Pros: - P45 intel standard for DDR3 is 1066. board overclocks to support 1333
- P45 intel standard support PCIE 2.0. Internet claims 2.0 support cards will exceed 1.1 cards but also claims boards are not having enough power to use the full bus. I have no info to date on how much of the 2.0 bus is really being used.
- ICH10R provides 1000BaseT gigaether interface
- CPU temp is 18 degrees (room temp) when surfing internet. This is caused by a reduction in the cpu multiplier (from 9.5 to 6) when high performance is not required.
- P45 chip is near CPU with decent heatsink. Looks like sink expects air from Intel CPU fan. My CPU fan does not push air to P45 heatsink.
- external SATA300 connectors provided on back with spare cables!
- still has ATA100 and floppy connectors and cables
- 4 fan connectors (CPU, PWR, Sys1, Sys2)

- MB did not correct CPU multiplier correctly. manually adjusted. Memory was detected at 9,9,9,24 as speced and 1333

Cons: - motherboard rev is 1.0 instead of 1.1 (1.1 meets Europe energy requirements, so its not a big deal)
- misleading spec of DDR3 2200 support when gigabyte website states you can use them only if you underclock at 1333 MHz.
- board does seem to be sensitive to overclocking, but I have it working well for me.
- also Easy Tune seems to indicate that DDR voltage is near 1.8 instead of 1.5V. Sent email to vendor. According to INTEL, the P45 chip is suppose to run at 1.8 only for DDR2 memory.
- overclocking and even initial stability seems to be based on the memory purchased. recommend getting 1600 memory listed below (either 2x2GB or 2x1GB). O.C seems to be unable to use MB automatic features to go above the memory requirements (in this case 1600).
-P45 does get hot since it is rated at 1066 and is being overclocked to 1333 MHz even when idle.
- tried using energy saver mode application and it froze. MB seems to be already in a low state without it.

Other Thoughts: After reading the reviews, I figured out the memory was critical. Bought the 1600 below. I believe it is why the board is working well.

On idle, CPU is running at 6x 2.0 GHz with DDR3 at 333MHz (1333MHz). With no adjustments except CIA2 set to Racing, the CPU will kick upto 3.53 GHz with DDR3 at 372MHz (1486MHz)

Rating + 2 Horrid

Pros: I never ran into problems with installing an OS, it was stable enough for that.

Cons: I've never gone a week without a crash. I've tried 3 flavors of Linux, XP, and windows 7 and all of them will crash randomly. My ram is 24 hour prime95 tested. To be fair I picked ram that was not on the official list, but I've seen reports online that even approved ram would sometimes fail.

I've played with the BIOS options to no end based on advice I found on various forums to no avail. Unfortunately it took me so long to narrow the problem down to the hardware that I had missed my return date.

Additionally, I had to spend 20 minutes moving ram around just to get it to boot. If I opened up my computer and switched the two sticks of ram, it would not start. If i moved them to the other pairing, it would not start. each stick had only 1 slot that it would work in by itself, and those slots were different for each stick.

In any case, way too much hassle for only minor improvements in stability that I have achieved.

Other Thoughts: Do not get this board. If you do get this board, RMA it at the first sign of trouble, don't wait until you are totally sure it's the board like I did. (btw I'm a student so it's not that it was impossible to pin this on the board, it was just that I didn't have much time to mess with it. I really needed a machine that just worked and I didn't get that with this build)

Rating + 2 The disappoint of my Quad Core Experience

Pros: This board is laden with copper and has a lot of nice attachments (ports).

Cons: I'm a computer repairman, I've been building computers for 18 years so naturally I know a good motherboard when I see one. I wish I could include this among them. I've never had a board that can't have a boot order of CD-ROM, Hard Drive and advance to the hard drive if a CD isn't present. Even the beta firmware release doesn't resolve this either. I've have continual problems with drives falling out of my Matrix 5 array. Not only that there's no way to get the same drive back into the array. Intel tells me their Matrix Storage Manger 8.9 is to blame, but 8.8 doesn't support Windows 7, let alone 64-bit. So I'm not even using the software any more, it's just RAID 5 in the Matrix BIOS and so far so good. It also takes a freaking century to hibernate. I get that I have 6GB of RAM, but my single core 2GB system does it in about 1/8th the amount of time and the drive configuration is faster (4 in RAID 5 vs. one drive).

Other Thoughts: I thought this would be an easy board to overclock with, but it isn't you have to manually set the voltages for the processors. I can understand that one the ram, because the parts are relatively unknown. However, Gigabyte can buy each intel CPU and figure out the correct settings in other words at 300MHZ bus use this voltage with this CPU, and at 320MHZ use a slightly higher one. I don't want to have to involve myself with the math and the mystery. Nonetheless I got my 2.7GHZ E5400 running at 3.6GHZ and if I could have figured out the right settings I bet 4GHZ would have been fine, the processor was cool enough, but there are like 5 settings that control different subvoltages and I shouldn't be bothered with that minutia. I get that some of my problems are Windows 7 64-bit and bad drivers, but the BIOS is not fit for release.

Cons: nope

Other Thoughts: ram wregisted with 9 timings by default and 1066, so had to overclock my q6600 to 3GHZ to get 1333 out of the ram. all stock voltages!

Rating + 2 Runs great with one stick of memory.

Pros: The dual bios is nice.

Cons: Very picky about memory. So far it will only run with 1 stick. I have tried two different brands (super talent, crucial) I am going to try Kingston from the certified memory list. Internet search shows many others having similar problems.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to try the approved Kingston memory and if that does not work I will return.

Pros: good overclocking, ddr3 with lga 775. see no need to update my q6600 to i5 or i7 for the price, got the q6600 overclocked to 3Ghz on stock voltage. paired this with a hd 4890, 4 gigs gskill, zalman cooler, antec 300, antec eco neo 620w(get one!)

Cons: had to RMA one. not worth taking off an egg, it happens

Rating + 5 Solid (with the correct RAM..)

Pros: Solid board (see other thoughts for quantification) using 2GBs of the Kingston RAM from the supported ram list on the gigabyte site. Great features for the price. Worked great with CentOS 5.4, using a ps/2 KVM switch.

Cons: This board was unstable using a couple of models of OCZ and G. SKill RAM that I had laying around. I did not feel justified in taking off a full egg for this as they were not on the supported memory list. However, I have an Asrock MB that has run stable with a wide variety of different memory sticks, which is very nice. So I give this board a 4 1/2 egg-rating.

Other Thoughts: In short I would recommend this board to anyone if they are planning on using memory form the supported memory list.

Note:
'solid board' = 24hr+ run time on Prime95 torture test as well as memtest86

'unstable' = memtest86 failed to run or presented errors, prime95 reported rounding errors in less than 2hrs of run time.

Pros: Super reliable, had all the options I wanted, easy tweaking.

Cons: One click OC dropped the system bus speed and ram cas latency. May be something I can get around fiddling in the bios.

Other Thoughts: Used gigabyte on my last build, ran it without a hitch for three years, so of course I went with gigabyte again. Reliability is the key selling point on these boards for me.

Pros: No problems. Using with Q9550 and GSkill F3-2800CL9D-4GBNQ DDR3-1600. Booted right away with default settings, running at 1333. No BSOD's. Very stable and solid mobo.

Cons: None

Rating + 4 Great Board for the price

Pros: Solid Construction, thicker copper layer is the Best thing a Mobo manufacturer can do to decrease temps and ease clean power delivery to your hardware. Japanese made caps are of very good quality, ferrite chokes always reliable. Got XP-SP3 up and running flawless(fastest os install ever, under 15 min). All other hardware installed and ran at full speed without a hitch. Not one boot fault or BSOD. Ps2 keyboard and mouse connection, lets me use my old umm, wait i threw those away when i got my wireless usb system. Still kinda nice to have though.

Cons: North Bridge Heat sink is a little too tall for the Ac Freezer next to it. A pair of dykes and a little snip snip on the AC Freezer fan shroud plastic and bam... ...no more sink to sink contact. No usb 3.0 or sata 6gb. No triple channel ddr3

Other Thoughts: My Build.
-Antec 300 series case (pretty sweet, metal is a little thin)
-Gigabyte GV-N98TGR-512I 9800gt 512mb 256bit GDDR3
-Ocz stealthxstream OCZ700SXS 700w SLI ready
-C2Duo E8400 Wolfy ( don't waste your money on a quad)
-G.Skill F3-10600CL8D-2GBHK 2x1GB DDR3 1333
-Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2
-Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Grease
-CD and HDD from my old pc for now (seagate sata 250gb 7200rpm 32mb cache)

Rating + 1 Doesn’t like memory

Pros: It has slots for all peripherals I was wanting to use.

Cons: I cannot get Win 7 installed, either a BSOD or hang. no matter how much I tweak the memory settings it continues to get memory errors.

Other Thoughts: People need to stop giving this board a high rating after complaining of this same issue I had. There are to many people saying it has issues booting and running with memory errors then giving it 4-5 eggs.

Rating + 3 Funky, but nominally serviceable

Pros: So far, seems like an adequate MoBo. Nice BIOS features, etc. Nice budget board w/RAID support, 8 gig DDR3 1333 (See Cons Below), etc.

Cons: Please note that, if you intend to support 8 gig RAM (4X2), you will definitely need to under-clock the memory. I spent a full day trying to get this thing stable, finally hit the magic numbers by under-clocking 1333 memory to 1066. Prior to that, endless BSODs when trying to install Win7 Ultimate. Ditto for WinXP SP3.

Beware that GigaByte tech support is non-existent and non-responsive. E-mail-only access, and no one responds in a timely fashion. If you have problems with this system, you're pretty much on your own.
Current BIOS (6.00) on web site is Beta, so proceed at your own risk.

Other Thoughts: Fine board for the tech-savvy who don't mind paying for 1333 RAM and only getting 1066 performance.

Pros: I was able to get this board up and running without any hitches. Everything ran perfectly until about 2 months ago.

Cons: After running fine for 7 months the board has refused to boot. It gives a blank screen and no beeps. I am in medical school so I am just trying to trouble shoot it but it is pretty frustrating to have to pull apart a relatively new computer and to have so little info on what might be the problem.

Rating + 5 Works beautifully

Pros: Supports fast memory and manual settings of cpu FSB and multiplier. Plug and play for most cpu's and memory supported. Windows 7 compatible.

Cons: some slots are close, but no worse than other MB's. it is expected.

Other Thoughts: Would like to see one more fan connector for such a nice MB as I have three 120mm case fans and a spot for a fourth on the side, but I could always us an extra ps molex connector and convert to a 3 pin fan connector so no biggie, would be nice for the variable control though. Additionally, only the cpu fan is completely variable at all times, meaning as the cpu gets hotter, the fan will go faster, all the system fans are only variable to an extent, meaning that you can only set the percentage at what you would like to run the fan at in the bios or with special software, would be nice if system fans were also 4 pin fans with full variable control. but this isn't offered on any board that I know of, so more of a wish for the future than a complaint.

Pros: Was a great addition to my budget-build development server.

Relatively cheap, solid construction, dual bios, and easily capable of obtaining a stable 500fsb overclock if you have adequate methods of cooling.

Cons: None that I can think of at the moment...

Rating + 5 Worked perfect the 1st time

Pros: No problems. It took my RAM fine (2X2 Patriot Model PVV34G1333LLK), although based on other reviews i'd look for something with a low voltage requirement. Plenty of USB ports, 8 back panel and support for 4 more. Bios is pretty straightforward and well enough documented for basic use.

Cons: The PATA connection is too far away from the front, it's a stretch to connect a drive with an 18 inch cable. If you use a flat cable, having it stretched across your case doesn't make for good airflow. The included eSATA adapter makes up for it though.

Other Thoughts: Nice and solid feel to it, too. It's a good buy if you can find memory that works with it.

Pros: Good price, great service by Newegg, DDR3, etc. -- has all I need. I think a great combination of features for the price.

Cons: A knock on Gigabyte. As someone else noted, there's a discrepancy on supported memory, Gigabyte website advertises 16G but manual says 8G. When I contacted them, they quickly changed the Web site to 8Gig and said I was wrong. Luckily, I had printed out the original showing 16G.

Pros: Versatile board with everything (Except SLI) we needed for modern computing. Perfect for minor gaming and constant internet & email. Keeps the wife off of my real gaming computer!

Cons: FYI: Windows XP REQUIRES SP2 on the CD!!!!

It would have been nice to know this bit before I ripped out all my hair and RMAed the first board I bought...

Other Thoughts: I returned my 1st board as DOA when nothing I did would stop the blue-screen-of-death. I had replaced every other component (including an old PCI graphics card) but it would not load windows.
The new board came and I had the exact same problem!!
After a bit of homework I realized two things:
1) I'm a fool for not reasearching this issue before returning the darn thing.
2) Newegg.com rules! They were fast with my RMA without question. (Their service and great prices are what keep me coming back!

Pros: The layout of the mobo is pretty normal and easy to config.

Cons: I bought this mobo to build a completely new system and it seems to work as it should. However, little did I know that they have some issues with certain RAMs (and maybe CPU, but I didn't have problems with CPU), so you might want to look into that before you purchase this. However, upgrading their bios seemed to resolve the issue...at least for me.

Other Thoughts: They have a DDR3 and DDR2 version of the same model, just a fyi so know which you're looking at.

Rating + 4 Great

Pros: Works great. does everything it should.

Cons: 2 of them. 1.) the board has a odd size. 2.) the IDE slot is too low on the board, so you either need a really long cable or rearrange your CD drives. in my case, the CD drives had to move, even with the 18" cable i had.

Other Thoughts: Noticed lots of options for overclocking. I know i won't be touching any of them.

Rating + 1 This board is locking up.

Pros: Gigabyte name, nice features

Cons: Locks up in the OS

Other Thoughts: I'm running this with 2x2GB Corsair XMS3 1333Mhz , no OC and the OS is locking up within about 10 minutes of booting. It does it under load, and idle, never to recover. I've reinstalled the OS twice, same results. Wasting unbillable hours messing with this is annoying.
After reading around the web I can see that I'll probably need to under clock the ram to get it stable.

I'll be attempting the beta bios next.

I will reconsider purchasing Gigabyte in the future.

Rating + 5 good buy, bad info on website!!

Pros: it has alot of SATA slots for alot of add-ons in the future and the LGA 775 socket is very good...alot of processors to choose from for the socket and dual BIOS is a great thing to have when u are planning to tweak or O.C. anything.

Cons: it says it will hold 16GB of DDR3 ram but if u look in the manual, it says only 8GB...gotta get the info right so we know exactly what wew are buying. other than that, i heard it will run DDR2 ram but no luck on finding if its true.

Other Thoughts: the motherboard is a GREAT bargain for beginner/advanced people that are building their own..i just ordered the Q9650 processor and a liquid cooling system so i hope everything goes the way i hope it will :) great product so far.

Rating + 4 Decent Speed

Pros: Uses DDR3, LGA775 and can take any chip in the series. I LOVE the external SATA bracket and cords - makes transferring old hard drive to new system a breeze! I want this on all my future systems!

Cons: I didn't try to overclock as just getting the RAM up to 1600 with the FSB at 1333 was a pain! I've heard that Gigabyte has terrible customer service, but all I care about is a reliable MB.

Other Thoughts: If you want to overclock and know everything there is to know about RAM/CPU/BUS settings then you're probably fine. However, a novice overclocker should stay away. It's a pain just to configure RAM to any speed above the FSB.

Rating + 3 This is NOT a standard sized board

Pros: Lots on usb on the board. 1 pci-express 2.0 slot which is adequate. This board uses DDR3 memory, which is the reason I bought it.

Cons: It's not a full-sized board. It's about an inch and a quarter narrower. As such, the last inch or so is unsupported because full cases don't have holes for these hybrid boards.

Other Thoughts: After received a P55 board from Gigabyte that had a corrupt bios, I was VERY hesitant to order another. The price and the ddr3 feature convinced me to give it one more try. The sales woman who did my return also canceled $60 worth the restocking fees. The second kit came with the save XFX 4770 video card, only this time, the video card was DOA! Newegg needs to stop shipping out questionable stock!

Rating + 5 Windows 7 64bit solid performance

Pros: Running this board with Windows 7, 64bit. Have installed an Intel E8400 CPU. Installed 2 Gig of OCZ DDR3, 1333 ram. Blinding fast under Windows 7 64bit. Loads of BIOS settings. Have not tried any overclocking, but will soon. Great set of features, both software and hardware.

Solid performance under Windows 7 64bit OS, even with only 2 Gig of RAM.

Cons: Wish I had purchased 4 to 8 gig of ram.

Other Thoughts: Does in fact perform very will under Windows 7 64bit.

Rating + 5 Great mobo

Pros: I was pretty nervous when i bought this motherboard and then read the reviews (ya I know, noob). But I haven't had a single problem. No speed bumps or headaches. I'm assuming gigabyte fixed whatever problem their was with the memory because I'm using the Kingston 2x2gbs DDR3 sticks that Tally was having problems with below. Just threw them in and started gaming!

Cons: non

Other Thoughts: All the programs that come with the motherboard really useful. Overclocking and updating the bios are simplified to just pushing a button.

Rating + 4 A good board with one real hang-up for me

Pros: -Board runs solidly with my Corsair DDR3 1333 ram
-I like having the numerous tweaking options Gigabyte has provided in the installed bios right out of the gate
-the fact that larger graphics cards will only cover up an additional x1 slot (of which there are 4 anyway) is a plus

Cons: The reason I took off one egg is due to the PLACEMENT of certain components on this board. Namely, the fact that the front audio connections are right next to the rear audio ports at the back of the board.
This may not be a problem in all cases, but for the Raidmax Tornado case I purchased (also from Newegg ^_^), this resulted in having no front port headphone/line in (as the case's cable can't reach that far)...at least until I get the time to splice together some extra wires...

I also had to adjust to the IDE connector being located below the SATA connectors. That's less of a problem with distance, and more of an issue involving wheedling the wide ribbon cable around the other SATA and power connections. Though this is just a minor personal gripe.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board as part of an "economy gaming" pc, and aside from the aforementioned issue, it has performed quite well. Whether that I lucked out, or that I'm simply not pushing the board as hard as some other people, I haven't had any of the stability issues mentioned in other reviews. And that's straight out of the box.

Rating + 3 Mixed Feelings on this one

Pros: this board is pretty good, its got a lot of good features and it does run pretty cool. great sound, lots of USB ports, PCI-E 2.0, and DDR3. it was also pretty cheap for DDR3 boards, most others go for about twice this one.

Cons: make sure you update the bios to the newest version right away. i got a patriot DDR3 dual-channel kit and they didnt work in this board. i read numerous reviews of my exact problem (freezing without reboot with 2 sticks in). i RMA'ed a board and had the same problem. eventually Gigabyte tech support told me to update the bios and lo-and-behold, it works perfectly. well, thats not true. you will need a PS2 keyboard to navigate menus like the boot menu, and the 'windows did not shuhtdown properly' menu (safe mode, start normally, etc). this is why i gave it 3 eggs, because obviously even tho this was a huge headache, it was user error.

Other Thoughts: this board is pretty good, i do recommend it. gigabyte tech support is second rate and the bios are pretty pathetic but it does come with a lot of options for overclocking and expansion. too bad theres no SLI capability but i got a GTX 275 so i really dont need SLI.

Rating + 5 Works great!

Pros: Supports C2Q processors.
Supports DDR3 RAM (Up to 16GB!)
Dynamic Engergy Saver makes CPU run cooler.
Lots of tweaking options.
Decent price.

Cons: I noticed the warranty starts at the date of manufacture, not the date you buy it. Seems shady to me. Seems like a well-built board though, so I hope to never need the warranty.

Other Thoughts: This board has run great for me. The performance RAM I bought needed 1.8v (DDR is standard 1.5v), and it was easy to bump up the voltage as required. The memory was also low latency 6-6-6-20, which was easy to set, and the system has been perfectly stable. My Q9550 has been running rather hot while doing SMP Folding, but turning on the Dynamic Energy Saver seems to lower the core voltage, and consequently the core temps. I haven't had any stability issues with the lowered voltage. By default the board wants to do some dynamic overclocking -- I turned this off. There are lots of options for tweaking, if you're into that. I just wanted a rock solid/high performance system that would last a long time -- I believe I've gotten it with this board.

Rating + 4 I bought 2 of these.

Pros: I have owned 5 other boards from Gigabytes competitors, and those boards, except one, all had issues with either the raid or the onboard audio. This cannot be a coincidence. For the price you always get very functional and reliable boards from Gigabyte. I no longer buy anything else, ESPECIALLY for budget builds. And when it comes to expensive gaming rigs, nobody builds boards that can overclock like Gigabyte.

I bought two of these because they're cheap. I paid less than a bill for both of mine, with free shipping and rebates included.

Cons: As has been mentioned, if you buy ram that is faster than 1333 mhz, you MAY need to do a lot of manual settings to get the board to post and run with prolonged stability. HOWEVER, this board will POST AND RUN WITH STABILITY right out of the box. However, your ram will post at only 1066 with 1600 mhz+ ddr3 ram.

SOLUTION: Contact Gigabyte techsupport to get a basic solution. -OR- Do a little bit of research on overclocking ram and then review the specs posted by Tally in the other reviews. I also tried these, and they are very close to where I needed to be with my DDR3 1866 Mhz OCZ ram.

Other Thoughts: Don't blow the ram tweaks out of proportion. I removed an egg for them, but these are great boards and most often will run great without any need for these tweaks. (I got the cheapest crucial ballistics 1333 Mhz ram that newegg sells, and it worked flawlessly at the rated specs when I just changed the system multiplier to 4.0b

Rating + 3 Does not work with KVM switches!

Pros: Inexpensive, stable board with good set of features.

Cons: Does not work with USB KVM switches. Once USB keyboard and mouse are switched away, they will not be reacquired by Windows when switched back. Instead, a reboot is required to get them working again. The recommended BIOS settings when using a KVM switch are: "PnP OS: yes" and "USB IRQ: enabled". Neither of these options are available in this board's BIOS, and apparently the defaults are not the "correct" ones from the KVM switch's perspective. So if you plan to use this with a KVM switch, look elsewhere!

Windows also hangs at shutdown. However, this could be caused by a Windows configuration issue.

Other Thoughts: I'll buy ASUS next time.

Rating + 1 Endless start loop cycle in OC

Pros: at first I thought the board was great and ran my E8500 to 4.5 Ghz, that was about it though...... 2 hours of glory and now its worse than an e machine corsair dhx ddr3 1600 memory only registers as ddr3 1066

Cons: any tweaking at all if it doesnt windows boot error at start up it gives you an hour of mild OC maybe 500 mhz even relaxing mem timing is a bust, then blue screen and endless restart loops I have to unplug the machine for 2-3 minutes and go screw with the bios everytime

Other Thoughts: I thought the world record holder GIGA-BYTE would have a rock solid product ! I did not care for asus X45 so I tried this board what a waste of money, seriously let down

and the pcieX16 X8 in crossfire 4850x2 and another 4850 another disappointment no tri-fire here configurations of 2-4-0 is worse than 4850X2 alone

Rating + 1 Very Memory Unfriendly

Pros: none so far, should have bought a different board...

Cons: This board is probably the worst board I have ever bought. There are a few brands of memory on the manufacturers support list that are available for purchase here on newegg (approx. 2-3 brand/products). I have 2x2 gig sticks of kingston memory that WERE on the approved list. I get random lock ups when running both sticks in any slot configuration. The only way so far I have found to remedy this is to cut it back to one stick. I have tried numerous things with timing/votages in the bios to no avail. This product just plain bites, I am utterly disappointed in this board having used Gigabyte products in the past that have been satisfactory. I would strongly caution against purchasing this board; at least with the following configuration:

my config:
MOBO: EP-45T-UD3LR
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz
RAM: KVR1333D3K2/4GR (1 only, 2 unstable)
PSU: Orion HP585D
Video: BFG 9800 GTX+
Case: NZXT Beta Series CS-NT-BETA-B Black Steel
HDD: Samsung HD502IJ 500 GB SATA II

Other Thoughts: I hope Gigabyte cleans up their act with one by releasing a Bios update that addresses their plethora of memory controller issues. I have been on several sites and have seen that alot of people are having issues with memory with this board.

Pros: Everything works great and as advertised about this motherboard

Overclocking software easy to use

Energy saver for CPU is both efficient and helps keep the CPU slightly cooler, without noticeable sacrificing in power.

Cons: Very hard to apply pushpin heatsinks, took me considerable time.

Does get warmer than I'd like but still totally fine with configuration below even with a bit of overclocking.

Rating + 3 Do not use for overclocking

Pros: Everything works perfect up to 400MHz FSB and 1333MHz Ram. The board automatically boots with default settings if it becomes unstable when overclocking without reseting bios. Easy to use.

Cons: The board will not boot with memory set to 1600MHz. I use 2x2GB DDR3 1800 memory, which runs on my AMD board at 1600MHz with 6-6-6-18-1T timings, and on this board the best it can do is 1333MHz with 5-5-5-15-2T timings. I tried all auto settings, manual settings, raised voltages on memory and north bridge, increased timings - no boot at 1600MHz. Sad. :-(
Also it does not run with FSB set to anything higher that 400MHz with my quad core CPU. 405MHz - will not load OS. No reaction to voltage increase. Sad again. :-(

Other Thoughts: Why do they advertize 2200 MHz if it can only do 1333???

Pros: Nice board. Lots of expandability. Build quality is excellent, manual (both booklet and PDF) are nice. ESATA bracket is nice extra. Lot's of connectors and such that make installation easier. I like having a lot of USB ports on the back too. Nice BIOS features.

Cons: Only supports 8 GB of RAM according to Gigabyte's website, but not a huge deal. I managed to somehow loosen the northbridge heatsink while installing the board, but was able to get it set in tight again.(entirely my fault)

Other Thoughts: Works great with my Pentium dual core e6300, 4 GB GEIL DDR3, and Gigabyte Geforce 9800 GT. I like this board a lot, especially the solid capacitor design, since I plan to use this for a decent amount of time to come.

Pros: Fantastic BIOS features. Quality components. Tons of features. DDR3. Great Audio. Able to use older P/S with 20pin power connectors. Everything works great...booted up first time. Works great with Vista(64bit), Windows 7(64bit), and Linux (opensuse 11.1 64bit) All components identified and correct drivers loaded under Linux. In fact Windows 7 (evaluation copy) has more minor problems than Linux. Very fast and completely stable. 5 eggs to Newegg for RMA process, they even paid for the return shipping!

Cons: I mistakenly had to RMA my first board because I thought the LAN didn't work. I tried 4 different cables with no success. I really liked the board so I got an identical replacement and had the same problem with the LAN. I knew this couldn't be possible so I tried more cables and found one that worked! It turned out to be the LAN port requires a very solid and tight cable connector. Now the LAN works flawlessly!

Other Thoughts: This is my first Gigabyte and am very happy and will buy again! I think many of the reviewers that have problems don't know what they are doing or are using incompatible components.

Rating + 4 Great board with plenty of features

Pros: I am very happy with my new board. DDR3 was a big selling point for me. The onboard audio is fantastic, as is the overall design/layout of the board. The included cables and connectors were nice. It comes with an eSATA adapter that mounts in one of your PCI slots. I thought this was pretty cool-- a nice added bonus. I would recommend buying one of these to a friend.

Cons: The board doesn't have FW4/800. I really wish the board included this. Also, the RAM slots are a little flimsy.

Rating + 5 Good budget Mobo for basic use

Pros: Great CPU support, great memory support, lots of bios tweaks if you want to do it.

Cons: bios update eliminated some useful non-OC related tweaks

Other Thoughts: Bought this single PCI Express X16 board for a build with a Q9650 and single vid card, not for gaming purposes. Plenty of onboard audio, lan, usb. Why don't Mobo builders include a decent TI firewire chipset, for pete's sake? At least GB didn't bother with one of those useless via chips- they just left 1394 off completely...
Bios was #4 as new. I updated to #5, and lost the ability to set numlock to "on" during boot. The option is just gone in the new bios. That bites. Now, I have to turn numlock on manually every time I boot. Not a big deal, but what the hey...it's a standard option on virtually every bios ever made! Hope that is fixed in a future revision, 'cause it annoys me to no end...

Pros: Threw the build together and running smooth
*great price for ddr3 RAM support
*ICH10R S.B.
*PCIe 2.0
*Advertised RAM speed (haven't gone there, but would be fun to overclock this board)

Cons: Not a whole lot of motherboard cooling (at least not compared to my Asus P5E mobo)
bios reports wrong cpu speed, throttling cpu down? cpu-z does verify that it speeds up under load.

Other Thoughts: I believe alt + f1 in bios opens overclocking parameters
Running with 1.5v RAM... I try to go with Jedec spec for stability
ram has latency of 7, cpu e6300, 8500gt that was laying around, 7200rpm ide hd, system is snappy with the few programs installed thus far (xp pro x86).

Pros: It made a cool popping sound.

Cons: Set it up. Nice board config. Turned power on. Pressed power switch...and then POP! What an amusing smell! Ever since, no boot, no beeps, no sound. Fans whirl but that's about it. I've reset just about everything from memory to BIOS. I even bought another processor and PSU.

Other Thoughts: I have searched forums and there are tons of threads about problems people are having with this board not even boooting! The specs and config look nice but that's about it.

Pros: Awesome Mobo for the price! Fully supports DDR3 on all 4 channels, unlike some more expensive (Read: this Mobo's bigger brother) Mobo's that support DDR3 on only 2 of 4 channels.

Cons: None, it works great for a good performance machine.

Other Thoughts: Some people complain of the IDE channel connector being at the bottom of the Mobo and hard to get at. While this is true, I don't understand the need for it with 6 easily accessible (even with a big graphics card installed) SATA ports and the abundance of SATA products?

Rating + 5 Welcome to 2010

Pros: Great fast mobo, all the bells and whistles. I probably spent too much time flipping through the Manual (book), rather than just throwing it in and running with it. All GOOD so far, hope this Gigabyte lasts longer than my Asus AMD, have only owned it 6 weeks now. Pretty Board, fit nicely in my big ATX case.

Cons: The Ram slots feel cheap to this user, I had alot of problems with one pair of slots, and i do not think the fasteners really keep it tight, right now its just pushed in tight, but nothing really holding it in place if i pulled on the memory, but why would I???

Other Thoughts: Repaired Windows XP and up and running. Had to reinstall a few applications which noticed I had changed my hardware, but only to my benefit (Video Encoders who use Multithreading). Very pleased with my purchase. Buy one, Gigabyte probably needs our biz. Everything works as it should for my needs, USB, and Sound. I do not use the onboard Network, but it works fine too. Its a nice board with DDR3 great for gaming, video, and switching between programs during use.

Rating + 5 Great non-sli DDR3 motherboard for media production

Pros: Received it, put everything together using the following (and so far it works flawlessly):

1. Zalman GS-1000 Black Computer Case
2. Zalman ZM1000-HP 1000W Power Supply
3. Replaced Zalman fans with Silenx iXtrema case fans
4. Two (2) Western Digital Raptor 300GB/each
5. One (1) Western Digital Green Caviar 500GB
6. Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0Ghz
7. Rosewill RCX-Z300 92mm Ball CPU Cooler
8. 8GB total memory with two (2) set of Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PVS34G1600LLKN
9. PNY Nvidia Quadro FX 1800, 768MB Memory
10. Black Magic Intensity HDMI Video Capture PCIe x1 Card
11. LG Black Super Multi Blu-ray Disc Burner & HD DVD-ROM Drive SATA Model GGW-H20L
12. Koutech PCI to 1394a Card Model KW-582V2 - Retail
13. Silverstone FP33 Black Front Bay Fan Controller
14. Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

Cons: No Firewire... who cares! Get your Firewire off of the board and get crystal clean audio with my M-Audio Profire 610 and my KRK Rokit 6's.

Other Thoughts: Use it - If you're looking to do video editing and don't want to go with a Xeon or dual Xeon board (like all of the high end Macs).

I built this system because I wanted to use the Black Magic Intensity HDMI, which bypasses the compression sensor on your HDV camera to give you full uncompressed HD video, which you would get via Firewire. Originally tried using the XFX 790i Ultra because it's listed as compatible on their website; however, it is not, so I bought this and it's amazing.

Pros: So far great mobo, got everything installed last week but been having a hard time installing Windows XP Professional (32-bit edition if it matters).

Ubuntu Server 8.10/IBex installs fine after having to enable usb keyboards in the BIOS settings.

As mentioned in another review, LOTS of SATA ports!

Cons: I asked a few people I know to see if they had a solution. The solution was to flash/update the BIOS because XP was trying to access drivers that were available?

BIOS says my CPU is running at 2.8GHz when the processor was advertised as 3.0GHz stock.

Other Thoughts: This was my first computer build and I'd probably buy another gigabyte in the future.

System Specs:

-) Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0GHz LGA 775 95W
-) OCZ Intel Extreme Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit
-) GIGABYTE GV-N98TOC-1GH GeForce 9800 GT 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 (newegg discontinued)

Rating + 4 Nice board...

Pros: The board is definitely nice. I used all the SATA ports until I learned that one of my hard drives was DOA. However, three of the ports were for eSATA, which I have no use for yet. Installation went nicely, and I had everything put in within 3 1/2 hours, and part of that was because I lost my screwdriver.

Cons: Windows keeps insisting that the USB isn't hi-speed, which is frustrating. Kubuntu refuses to use the built in audio, which is even more so. The instructions were cryptic at times, but this was only a minor problem. The Easytune6 application for overclocking stuff doesn't work because Windows isn't on the C:\ partition and the support for Linux is sketchy at best.

Other Thoughts: If I could get the audio and USB to work right, this would be a nice case. Lackluster Linux support and finicky utilities keep this from a 5/5.

Pros: Lot's of features...more SATA than I'll ever need, plus ton's of USB ports.

Cons: The IDE connector is on the bottom of the board (in a tower case), making it difficult to run the ribbon cable, especially if you have to IDE DVD/CD drives. I put in a GFX 280, which is extremely long and double wide, so the card butts right up to the SATA ports.

Other Thoughts: First one showed up with a bent pin on the processor slot, RMA'd it and the second one is working well.

Rating + 1 Torturing Me

Pros: Typically professional-looking product from Gigabyte, nice price.
This was about my 8th hand-built system using a Gigabyte motherboard; until now I was very satisfied with this brand.

Cons: I ordered this with 4 sticks of 2gb Kingston DDR3 1333 (8 gb total) to run 64-bit op sys. I used memory specs from Gigabyte web site when picking the sticks.
TOTAL FAIL with 8gb. JUST BARELY runs with 4 gb (2 sticks) after seriously UNDER- yes UNDER-clocking the BIOS settings. So far, in about 14 elapsed hours of operation (and dozens of crash/lockup-reboot cycles), I am still trying to install all 70 or so updates to Vista64 Business.

Other Thoughts: I've dumbed down my (Wolfdale E8500) cpu to about 2.5 ghz (should be 3.16)
and my CAS from 9-9-9-24 to 10-10-10-32 just to get the clamn thing to run for more than 10 minutes at a time. Rest of system is a Thermaltake tower with 230mm fans, GTS250 NVidia, WD Green 600 SATA, SATA LG DVD, and Corsair 650w PSU.

Rating + 4 Good Product.... Not for Novices

Pros: As always with Gigabyte, it worked right out of the box. All kinds of versatility, features, and potential.... Oh yeah: $$$$.... About a C-note seems very reasonable for this board.

The Raid on this board is AWESOME. It was SO easy. I love raid 10 on this board.

Cons: The bios reports the maximum capability of my DDR3 1500, 1866 mhz, OCZ ram to be 533 mhz.... ????

OK. I've seen this before; just change the memory multiplier or bus frequency right? Wrong. The board won't run most things I put in my system at exact stock voltages or specs. Do I need to be a mathematician just to set things to stock voltages?

I am researching this issue still, but it isn't my first rodeo, and things should not be this difficult.

Other Thoughts: The product lost one egg, not because my ram isn't posting correctly at the specifications, but rather because a guy like me has to spend an hour figuring out how to correct the situation.

Pros: I got this Mobo for the "8 USB" ports i have a family member who had over 3 usb HUBS! (3x4 ports only 1 working usb not 2.0 port on mobo) so yes! this motherboard was a very good pick, and they have been very happy with this motherboard.

Cons: 4! PCIE x1 WHY?

i do wish the PATA was in a little higher (if you still use old harddrives or CD or Zip drive.)

Other Thoughts: over all a great mobo -1egg on the place of the PATA

Pros: I bought this mobo for my build and was amazed. Performance of this board is excellent and stays cool. I leave my computer on 24/7 and this puppy never runs over 40c at full load.

Cons: IDE is at bottom of board by the sata plugs? A bit unusual but maybe i should have used 2 sata dvdrws instead of old ides i already had... Had to buy a longer ide cable but no problem, I needed a pretty blue one anyway... : )

Other Thoughts: Comes with easytune 6 overclocking software that i tried out and it worked well but uninstalled it and overclocked by bios. Software is good for newbies

Pros: Great MOBO, very easy bios interface and the overclocking is a sinch. I OC'd my processor by 200mhz and not one hick up. SOLID.

Cons: I dont like the eide placement. I had to lower my cd-rom and dvd rom drives to the lowest rail cause my round EIDE cable could not reach to the bottom of the MOBO where the socket is located. Kind of annoying but not a big deal.

Pros: Well reviewed OC potential, good layout, plenty of SATA ports, floppy port (!), x12 USB ports (8 rear panel, 4 pinouts internal), explanatory manual, GREAT tweak options. GREAT price. Solid Construction.

Cons: Slight problem with adjusting the boot priority. If I set my boot drive to #1, I get a BOOTMGR MISSING error on bootup, so I have my secondary set to #1 and that seems to work for now. A BIOS update will probably fix it. I did not test to see if this is also a problem with a single SATA Drive. Both HDD's are SATA. Running either optimal setting sof failsafe settings did not trigger the problem and allowed the system to boot. I am running F1 BIOS for now, as this is the only problem I've had.

Other Thoughts: Anyone looking for a single graphics mobo solution should look no further. Great price, great northbridge, great features, great board.

Pros: NONE.......did not even open the box.

Cons: newegg sent me the wrong board (UD3LR) then made me pay to ship it back and made me wait till they received it then i had to wait till they put the money back on my card before i was able to REORDER the board i wanted in the first place all in all the whole ordeal is going to take about 3 to 4 weeks in the mean time i the CUSTOMER has to WAIT around for newegg to fix THERE PROBLEM what i dont understand is why they could not just send me the board i ordered in the first place considering it cost the same as the board they sent me i mean come on newegg you already had the money you had nothing to lose. good greef.

Other Thoughts: this was the first time i have EVER ordered through newegg and it will deffenitly be my LAST. i have always orderd through tdirect and nver had any issues with them. i chose to go with newegg because i thought the price for this board was better then anything i found on tiger. in MY OPINION newegg does not have very good custemer service.

Rating + 5 Great board for running one GPU

Pros: Excellent layout and build quality. Plenty of settings in the BIOS, and they all actually work. On board audio lacks the hissing and popping found on most boards in this price range. DDR3 gives this board added longevity.

Cons: BIOS is too complicated for novice overclockers.

Other Thoughts: This is a great board for building a budget system that can be upgraded in increments into a good one GPU performer.

Rating + 5 Finally!!

Pros: I have been swapping motherboards for a while for different reasons and finally everything works the way I want it. Installation was easy, although this mobo is the SMALLER SIZE! I got 7 screws to hold it so it should be ok.
Updated BIOS with their utility easy. Overclodked FSB 10% so far and CPU and GPU show no problems.

Cons: Mmm, I prefer it was standard size so there is more space between components and can be attached with all screws. EasyTune suxorz in comparison with every other OC utility I have used. I tweak in bios. Gigabyte website seems slow to browse or download drivers. It took 1 week for cstomer service to answer my question and answer was a little lame. But as far as mobo function is concerned - everything has worked flawlessly so far.

Other Thoughts: For some reason EasyTune shows that my Core2Duo 8500 is running at only 21C degrees, even overclocked by 10%. The same CPU has always run around 38C on prev mobos. Don't know if I should credit their 'cool' technology for that or blame ET for inaccurate reading.
The bios has many settings labelled 'turbo' or'fast'. I prefer to see what is it changing and the number instead of labeling a setting turbo.
The northbridge has a big nice and heavy heatsink but no fan on it. It needs a fan. It gets so hot u cant even touch it. Time for many manufacturers to switch to active cooling for NB. I had to take replace stock heatsink, which again looks high quality. If u add a fan to it u will be good.

Pros: So Far So Good I have 2x raid 0 1tb's so I have 2x 500 sea gates on it in raid 0 and 2x 500 Maxtor's in seperate Raid 0 and it is working fine

Overclocking was a little harder than my other board only because it has more options than you could ever imagine.

But I got my Quad Core Q66 up to 3ghz and it runs fine when I get it sorted out and figure out how to run this completely I will try to get it to 3.24 ghz because that's what I had it on my previous motherboard P35

But yeah this board seems to run great no problems so far started right up and very stable seems great for gaming and every thing this far.

I would recommend this board if it keeps going at this rate its very stable and fast.

Cons: A little hard to over clock than my past MSI p35 board but only because it has a lot more options I am sure its better to over clock on this board its just you have to learn about all the options first ;)

Other Thoughts: Great Board decent price very fast great raid.

Feels like a buy to me :)

Rating + 3 IDE & USB Issues

Pros: Price, ports

Cons: IDE DVD-RW drives would show up in device manager and explorer but would not read any discs, which makes it hard trying to install windows from disc. Installed a SATA DVD-RW I had laying around and was able to get it to boot from disc. I am installing now to see if it was the previous installation drivers. USB mouse and keyboard works during post, but didn't work when asked "Press any key to boot from CD." Hooked up a PS2 keyboard and am installing windows.

Other Thoughts: Really nice budget mobo if they can fix the problems with the IDE and USB. Only reason I have a IDE drive at all in there is because it's an upgrade and they wanted to use as many parts as they could.

Pros: Good layout.

Cons: Wanted to use RAID1, but when I enabled RAID in the bios, the computer starts to load Windows XP Pro SP3, but then briefly flashes the blue screen of death and resets itself. Too short to read the error. Tried upgrading the RAID driver, but it can't because it says the computer doesn't meet minimum requirements. Haven't e-mailed Gigabyte yet, so I may just be doing something wrong, or maybe the driver doesn't like SP3 is the only thing I can figure.

Pros: Bought along with new CPU, RAM, and HDDs. Plugged everything in, plus the video card I already had and it worked without any obvious hitches. System has been stable since I got it, except for a couple issues not related to the motherboard.

Cons: By the specifications and price you pretty much know you're getting more of a budget board so it's not really a con, but there's only one PCI-e slot (so no SLi or Crossfire).

Other Thoughts: Had a lot of trouble getting my heatsink attached. This is my first time dealing with the pushpin design, and I really don't like it. The trouble I had could've been caused by the pushpin holes in the motherboard (unlikely), the heatsink (could be), or just me (most likely). Side note: this motherboard has a label that says "Ultra Durable". It must be, working flawlessly like it is after the beating it took while I was trying to get the d*mn heatsink in.
