Pros: Easy setup and installation. I mated this with an AMD Phenom II Quad 4 3.2 GHz processor and 8G of RAM. Booted first time. No issue. Lightning fast.
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: I have never had a problem with any Gigabyte MB. A system I built back in 03 is still running strong.

Pros: Fast, responsive, durable, tons of ports and configuration options.
Cons: Positioning of SATA ports is awkward.
Other Thoughts: Works beautifully with Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition. Didn't use the onboard video, but otherwise everything works great. Tested two AM3 processors after the fact, both boot right up without any bios updates or anything.

Great MB
Pros: Booted up straight away without any significant problems. Very stable and great support from Gigabyte.
Cons: Would only recognize my Phenom II 920 properly after a bios update. Also my memory was initially set to run at 400 Mhz had to force it to run at 533. Neither issue caused the computer not to boot, so no big deal.
Other Thoughts: It would be very helpful if all the voltage settings in the bios would have the current voltage next to them.

It works.
Pros: Pros are pretty simple...fairly high performance, not terribly expensive. I got it because I didn't need dual 2.0 x16, and I wanted a 9950 Phenom. The board layout is fine; it actually looks kinda cool.
Cons: The first board shipped was bad. No problems posting, but it couldn't boot to save its life, across multiple HDs, OSs, etc. Second one seems fine.
Other Thoughts: NewEgg was, of course, excellent w/ the RMA & the turn-around time. I think products seem at least a single egg better just because of how well NewEgg runs their business.

Great Motherboard
Pros: Great Motherboard. Booted up first time with zero problems. Set up Bios and everything was smooth.
Cons: I did have to change the DDR speed to 1066, it only reads 800mhz. But I wouldn't really call that a con.
Other Thoughts: System, AMD 3.2 quad core, GTX 9800 video card, velociraptor HDD. 8 gig 1066 RAM. Great machine runs smooth as silk with Windows 7 64 bit RTM copy.

Update
Pros: Has been about 6-7 months now. No problems. Recognized my AMD 920 fine. no bios update. Would rec this board. My daughter wants a new system this will be the board I use.
Cons: The sata connector locations but hey give and take. I really believe alot of people dont know what they are doing and create problems when assembling a pc. It is easy but does take a lil skill.
Other Thoughts: Phenom 920 clocked at 229 x 14 = 3.2 This board WD 500 GB OCZ 2x2 Reaper 4670 1gb 680w Apevia green sleeved power supply

Smooth as silk
Pros: Gigabyte, 790GX and 750SB chipsets, Price, free shipping, rebate and one can use crossfire if desired. I like the board set up as well. Nicely done.
Cons: None yet
Other Thoughts: I had zero problem installing and setting up this motherboard. It has run great with a Calisto 3.1 AM3 dual core Black Edition. I have yet to work with the OCing end of things, but I am getting to that soon.

Won't boot ESXi from USB key
Pros: Great board, works just fine
Cons: Systems has problems booting from usb keys. In my case I got this board for a home virtualization system running Vmware's ESXi software that lets you boot & run the system from a USB key. ESXi from a hard drive works great, and installing to the usb key works without errors, but keys that boot in other systems or made on this system fail immediately after the bios hands off to the boot devices (drives, CD-Rom).
Other Thoughts: Very disappointed in the system because of this one error booting usb keys. After doing some checking around I have found that Gigabyte does sometimes have problems with these usb keys.
I orderd a Syba compact flash to SATA converter that I will use to boot this from. Hopefully Gigabyte will get on this quick so I can go back to running ESXi as intended!

Keeps-on-tickin
Pros: My original review for this board was good. It has been over 6 months now, and there has never been a problem. slowly over time I have overclocked this AMD 720 to 3.11 GHz. The built in graphics play 1080p just like Blue Ray; tv.com.
Cons: Been all decent so-far.

Great Easy Gigabyte mobo GA-MA790GP-UD4H
Pros: Worked right out of the box. Just installed and booted up!
Onboard video ATI Radeon HD3300 graphics is all I need for my home office. Got Native Resolution 2048 x 1152 for my 23 inch SAMSUNG 2343BWX monitor without a problem with either VGA or DVI cable. I even tried to run 3D game Hitman Blood Money and worked just fine. Audio too. That way I saved on Video Card and Audio Card.
Had no problem installing front case connectors as previously with Asus board and my old case.
Ethernet is just plug-and-play hi-speed internet.
Plenty of utilities and programs on CD.
Heavy, solid board with Japanese parts.
Cons: Placement of front case connectors is way away from front.
Can't think of any other cons.
Other Thoughts: Running with AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black processor Socket AM3 2.8GHz HDZ720WFGIBOX. Installation was as easy as 35mm camera film installation. Temperatures run close to 40 deg C. with original AMD heatsink and fan.
Using memory G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ - Windows XP can't see more than 2.75GB and I do not plan on messing with overclocking because of DDR2 800 memory. Hard Drive Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" did not need floppy disk to install hard drive with Windows XP installation. Partitioned within Windows just fine. Added my old Seagate HDD and I do not have to burn and move files.
Power Supply Rosewill RP600V2-S-SL 600W is sufficient for this board. No video card.
This is my second build. Replaced Asus board with AMD 1GHz which lasted me 5 years. Was too slow and did not support my new monitor resolution. I hope this setup to last me another 5-6 years

Pros: Fits my Mid tower just fine. Worked right out of the box with a Phenom II and all new parts. Upgradeable
Cons: No pretty lights on it

Great Board So Far . . .
Pros: Thus far I'm very happy with the board. The BIOS offers lots of tweaking possibilities and has built in redundancy. The on-board graphics solution seems to work fine, but I only used it during the build process to make sure the motherboard was working and that my build was going well. Installed an HIS graphics card after that. Most of the layout is thoughtful and easy to work with (though see cons).
Cons: Just a couple fairly minor layout issues here to be aware of. The location of the USB connections will likely be blocked off some if you install a second graphics card in Crossfire. If the card is long enough, you may also impede access to the right side SATA connections as well. They should all still be useable, but you'll likely have to remove and reinsert the second graphics card in the future when making such changes to your build.
Other Thoughts: Overall, it offers good value for the price. If it matters, the board itself is a nice shade of blue.

Great Board
Pros: After a quick bios update, recognized my P2 950 and off it went! Lots to tweak, easy overclocking. Solid, dependable mobo.
Cons: I bought an Asus first, big mistake. Onboard video is next to useless, onboard audio was giving me problems so I threw in an old Audigy and all is well.
Other Thoughts: Great bang for the buck, IMHO.

Gigabyte has bad customer service
Pros: I've been doing business with Newegg for over 10 years and it's always a pleasure.
Cons: Board died (SATA controller failed) after 34 days so no RMA through Newegg. RMA through Gigabyte, including shipping time, took about 1 month. All inquiries regarding status of the RMA were answered with generic, non-specific rhetoric. Returned board was not replaced with new rather original board was 'repaired'. No paperwork or explanation of what work was done, just the board in a box. 'Repaired' board still would not work. This is my third bad experience with Gigabyte products and their customer service. So long Gigabyte.
Other Thoughts: Consumer pays for RMA shipping to Gigabyte, Gigabyte pays for return shipping. After this experience I checked around and found Gigabyte is known for weak customer service. Buyer beware.

Review of a Mobo
Pros: Well, so far its ran without a hitch. I like the way everything is laid out on the board, my last mobo the power was right behind the PCI-Express x16 slot, which entirely prevented the installation of a nice big gfx card. But on this board, nothing is in the way.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I think its a great deal for the money. I have had everything from the high cost to the low cost. One of the computers my dad built me had a mobo in it he picked up for $25 brand new. All in all, I think its a solid board with solid features and a decent price tag.

Solid Board
Pros: Heavy (heavy mobo usually=good quality), booted right up, since I don't do gaming the onboard graphics was more than enough for me. Firewire on the rear I/O, firewire on board, plenty of USB on the Rear I/O and on the board, great utilities as always with Gigabyte.
Cons: The two sets of stacked SATA ports are in an awkward spot, I saw that before I installed the mobo, so I just plugged in my SATA cables before installing the board and it was no big deal.
Other Thoughts: I've got an AM3 chip (550BE) and 8 gigs of DDR2 1066 Ram on this board and it is absolutely smoking (not literally of course).

Nice Board
Pros: I bought this board to compliment a new system, this system included a AMD Phenom X2 550 BE. OC'ing with this processor and this board is extremely easy. The OS is Vista Home Ed. 64 bit w/ 2 gigs of DDR2 XMS2 Corsair Ram. I removed my old Nvidea Card to see how the onboard video performs, I ran Crysis Warhead on 2nd level video rendering and it ran real smooth. I do not recommend that you do this as the game does perform much better under Crossfire cards. But the board performs really nice. Thanks NewEgg.
Cons: None

Decent Board
Pros: The BIOS that come with this MOBO are very nice. A number of USB and SATA connections available...but not well placed (see cons). The Radeon HD3300 does it's job well. Not a high end chip but very good for day to day tasks, watching movies, and some budget gaming, it's a nice touch. A great number of rear panel ports provides plenty of plug-in opportunities. 4 USB(plus extra potra come with the board to be added on), 6 Audio Ports, and an HDMI port. The AM3, AM2+, and AM2 support allows for use of budget CPUs all the way to the High end options for a few more years to come.
Cons: USB and SATA placement on MOBO was not designed well for gamers. With the size of higher end video cards these days it become difficult to nigh impossible to access these connections.
Other Thoughts: All in all not a bad board. Comes with just about anything you could want in a MOBO for home computing needs. 4 RAM slots are standard and really unless you are the neighborhood server do you really need more??

Nice board with some downsides
Pros: Good onboard video, tons of spots for SATA and USB, runs cool.
Cons: Frontside USB in awkward spot when using a video card, SATA placement is poor, also cables can be a hassle when using a large PCIE video card. Gigabyte tech support is pathetic.
Other Thoughts: Useful for cheap builds for people who want speed but don't need fancy graphics. Ran beautifully with AMD Phenom 940 Black Ed, until board randomly died out two weeks ago. (Bought it in April, died in August.)
Overall, with deployment in the field, the board seems to be worth the investment.

Great Motherboard
Pros: This board is feature rich, has 8 well placed SATA connectors, on-board video, weighs a ton with the 2 oz of copper and all of the Japanese resistors. It is a solid performer, running consistently even in heat. easy to install and very user friendly.
Cons: Gigabyte makes a great product, however their customer service sucks, while I did not need it in this occasion, in the past the experience is not good.
Other Thoughts: Newegg has established itself as the best online computer retailer, actually the best computer retailer anywhere. I wish they had a local store like F r y's I would probably never leave, not that I am suggesting they stop what they are doing, or change a thing, just a dream I guess. Regarding the motherboard, it is a great board and should be the model for all future gigabyte boards, except the placement of the USB ports.

Nasty Bios Voltages
Pros: Seems to be good build quality. Ran first boot no problem.
Cons: Layout - floppy connector should be beside ide connector, should be a fan header at the rear, and why 2 sata ports sticking out and the other 4 pointing to the front?
F5 BIOS!!!!!!! WOW doesnt auto set voltages properly and overvolts them!! cant undervolt SB, RAM, and sideport memory, and voltage incremements are 0.025 and 0.05V where as 0.01V increments would be way better. Fan noise with voltage control cpu header from bios (seems to vary the speed often??)
Other Thoughts: I gave this board 2.5/5, -1 layout and -1.5 for bios.
About the bios, after updating to ver. F5, under Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker (MIB) sub **system voltage optimized** there is manual and auto. YOU SHOULD SET IT TO MANUAL!! I set it to auto and assumed it would use default voltages, HOWEVER it pumped 1.425V to the cpu instead of 1.35V (955be and same for a friend 940be same mobo) also on mine it pumped 2.05V to the ram, which is ocz LV platinum rated for 1.8V with 1.85V rating for OVP from OCZ.
I caught this after xp was installed, and figured out, had to change it from Auto to manual, even at manual though my ram is still overvolted to 1.87V still over OCZs 1.85 OVP, but better than 2.05V,:| and I also undervolted the cpu to 1.2V prime95 stable :) Hopefully people notice this and check it before they melt their cpu and or ram!!
This board has great potential to be a great board if GIGABYTE can get the next BIOS rev WORKING THE WAY IT SHOULD

GA-MA790GP-UD4H DOH!
Pros: Nice board..
Cons: except if you get a combo deal with a Phenom II X4 965 BE... Then, you'll have to wait for Gigabyte to release a new bios that supports the CPU......
Other Thoughts: I'll play with some clock settings and see if I can get it to run faster than 1.6.. :(

ultra cool, i think not.
Pros: it heavy.
Cons: the design for the this board is flawed, everything in the most ridiculous place, usb connection over pcie slot is seriously stupid audio and other pci close to heat sink everything is either bunch up to close together or in the most absurd place, ultra cooling i think not running my phenom II x3 on this board my temp run over 35c to 40? while on my biostar running my phenom II x4 runs it at 20-23c? funny thing is both mobo are equip exactly the same beside the chip. kept having reset putting acc plus ec hybrid on on optimal settings.
Other Thoughts: its heavy, but the design is just stupid, my biostar can kick this mobo @ss.

Great Board
Pros: Solid, well built Mobo. Used onboard video for a few months and worked great. Easy build took my Phenom 9950 BE without a BIOS flash. This board allowed me to OC my AMD Phenom 9950 BE to 3.3Ghz without adjusting the voltage! This is my 1st Gigabyte board and they have replaced Asus as my favorite motherboard manufacturer b/c this is just a very well built high quality board.
Cons: sATA ports can be blacked if you're running SLI or Xfire with 2 large cards.
Other Thoughts: AMD X4 Phenom BE @ 3.3Ghz Zalman CNPS 9700 LED Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H 4GB OCZ DDR2 1066 XFX HD 4870 1GB @ stock speeds 750W Thermaltake Tough Power 640GB Western Digital HDD

Great Board Thus Far
Pros: Used this for my first build. The build went great until I hit the power button and nothing happened. After a day of frustration and Google searches, I realized that I didn't put brass standoffs in between the motherboard and case. Neither of the two manuals that came with the motherboard instructed to do this. Nonetheless, motherboard powered up and recognized all my periphals. I installed Ubuntu 9.04 and have had zero problems.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: My first build consisted of the following: AMD Phenom 9950 Aegna 2.6 GHZ 8 gb Corsair DDR2 800 MHZ ram Seagate 7200 rpm 1TB hard drive ASUS 21.5" HDMI Widescreen Display

Audio Problems
Pros: High quality construction; lots of features.
Cons: Could not get digital audio to work properly, no matter how I set it up. Tried different BIOS releases, including the latest. Tried onboard audio with various drivers, an M-Audio 192, and an Asus Xonar D2. Tried Vista 64 and W7. No matter what I tried, the 2-channel digital audio output was crackly. RMAed and got a new board. Same problem. I give up.
Other Thoughts: Using my exact same DAC/Amp/Speaker configuration with other mobos, using both onboard audio and my M-Audio and Asus PCI audio cards, I have no problems whatsoever with digital output.

Follow-up on overclocking since my last review
Pros: Very stable overclocker, all overclocking features I use were in the regular BIOS menu (i.e. no need for me to use the <Ctrl><F1> keys to unlock Advanced Options in the BIOS, as I have needed to with other Gigabyte boards)
Cons: None found
Other Thoughts: Since my previous review, I have been overclocking this motherboard + X2 7750 BE (2.7GHz) + Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro Cooler + 4GB Corsair 1066MHz DDR2. I was able to get a rock-solid overclock to 3.1GHz but any more than that and the CPU got to the mid-50's, then whammo, crash, boom. OK, actually just BSODs. I swapped out my ~1200rpm 120mm case fan with a 120mm PWM Fan which can max out to 3400rpm. Once I enabled the Smart Fan feature in the BIOS for the new fan, I have yet to hear any fan noise, even during lengthy ORTHOS testing of the CPU cores. I got it to 3.2GHz stable with the CPU temps staying right at 50° and the 2 PWM fans rarely going above 2200rpm. I just used the automatic setting for both PWM fans and the motherboard has managed it well. This speaks to the higher RPM fan & the Lian-Li Lancool case as much as the motherboard, but a good board is key. Don't forget to download Gigabyte's Easy Tune 6 for full access to temp monitors, software overclocking & more.

Pros: Build went without a hitch except for the fact that I couldn't get Vista to install under RAID 0. Ended up with two 1 Tb drives.
Cons: Would have liket to have set up a Raid 0 array. Vista didn't like my attempts. Manual gave fairly detailed instructions however Vista would never complete the installation. Couldn't find any help with installation at the Gigabyte site.
Other Thoughts: Sure would have liked to set up machine with a raid 0 array.

Pros: Used this board to build a gaming computer for my kid. The system is loaded up with memory and all of the bells and whistles. So far so good.

Excellent motherboard
Pros: Very good expansion capabilities with plenty already on the board. Stays fairly cool in the tower.
Cons: Onboard video driver is great for pre-rendered material, but lags with any active render, including visually-intensive screensavers.
Other Thoughts: Very nice Gigabyte build, with plenty of room to grow. Definitely a board to get if you want something to last for several upgrades.

A pleasant return to an AMD chipset
Pros: Good history with Gigabyte reliability & support (when needed), decent board layout, nice Silent-Pipe arrangement, enough USB & Firewire headers, onboard video 3-ways on a non-mATX board (would make a great HTPC), ability to configure 2 SATA ports for non-RAID applications in the BIOS, decent assortment of accessories including a snazzy case badge not pictured here on the 'egg, lots of overclocking features using the <Ctrl><F1> keys to unlock Advanced Options in the BIOS
Cons: Was not able to find AMD chipset drivers for a non-RAID install of Windows 7, though this is not Gigabyte's fault
Other Thoughts: I have been a long-time fan of AMD processors & nVidia motherboard chipsets, having been burned a few times with previous generation AMD chipsets -- some flaky RS482M4/RX480M4 motherboards come to mind. I had recently done a successful build for a friend with an AM2+ CPU & AMD chipset, so when the options I needed could only be found in the 790GX chipset, I considered it at length. I took the plunge and installed this board in my Media Server PC, which feeds up to 3 Media Center PCs throughout the house. So far, it has been a great performer and runs Windows 7 fairly nicely. All drivers installed correctly and the only setback was the above mentioned issues with installation on a single drive - Windows 7 wouldn't even see the drive with any of the drivers I could find. I ended up temporarily installing the system on a RAID JBOD array, imaging the system and then re-imaging the single drive, which worked. I haven't overclocked it yet, as I need reliability over performance. Nice!

Quick, Easy
Pros: Setup without a hitch, some of the system fan power connectors were oddly placed or hard to spot, but the manual laid it all out.
Other than that the motherboard setup was quick, and easy. Updating was nice. The driver disk included works well enough to get you on the internet to get newer models.
It also comes with some anti-virus systems to get you protected before you go live. Which I thought was a nice addition.
WILL SUPPORT AM3. I wasn't expecting this but it was a pleasant surprise. Newegg didn't list it as an AM2/2+/3. So when I read some reviews I was reluctant. Went ahead and got a nice Phenom II AM3, works perfectly.
Cons: N/a

Pretty nice.
Pros: Very nice layout and overall feeling of quality. It's a heavy board, but that's fine with me. Plenty of connections, though I personally would have liked a few more USB ports. I thought the right angled SATA ports were a little awkward at first, but they turned out to be great for cable management. This board also looks great in a clear-sided case.
Cons: Took a BIOS flash to really tinker with anything, but it has some great built in features fresh out of the box. The only con I can think of is the placement of the CMOS battery. If you install a chunky graphics card (mine is a ATI 4850) it'll get covered up. So a hard reset is a bit of a pain.
Other Thoughts: Overall, a very solid board with a multitude of built in features for tweaking and OC'ing your system. The built in video card is pretty decent, though I'd recommend upgrading eventually.

Excellent Board
Pros: Well, its not spectacular or anything, but does it's job exactly the way it's supposed to. I have had no problems with it at all. I have an AMD Phenom II x940 BE in it at the moment (AM2+), but this board WILL run AM3 processors. The north bridge cooler is nice. Enough said.
Cons: I had to take my graphics card out to get at the CMOS battery. My fault, and since the board has decent onboard graphics, you might not need to do this anyway. I also have an XFX Radeon HD4890, so it covers up a lot of space.
Other Thoughts: This board does support AM3 according to the manufacture's website. http://www.gigabyte.us/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=3004

RMA here I come
Pros: Has two 4-pin PWM fan headers (CPU and CHASSIS) plus two standard 3-pin fan headers both controllable with speedfan. Lots of extra USB headers. Good layout. Had room for large CPU heatsink. S3 suspend works fine in XP SP3. F2 BIOS w/ACC unlocks the extra cores in my Phenom II 550 BE.
Cons: Video was flakey. Could not set video resolution to higher than 1024x800. Tried disabling sideport and use only UMA but no joy. I got this specifically for the built-in video (Radeon 3300) and now have to add a video card. So it looks like I'll get something else and RMA this one.
Other Thoughts: If you suspend or hibernate (S3 or S4) the power led is OFF. What's up with that? Also AMD OverDrive won't run.

Mmmm, good.
Pros: I bought this to replace an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe that has been having boot issues for a year. Finally got fed up with it. So used all the same hardware had with it. Booted right up without any issues and original F1 bios. Hardware: AMD 64 X2 5600+, Sata drives and burners, DDR2 800 memory, GeForce 8800 GTS, Sound Blaster.
Runs much quieter than the Asus, no boot issues, fast. Not much else to say cause it is working as expected. Like the extra usb connectors above the bottom PCIE connector, much better than at the bottom of the board where couldn't hardly see them like on the Asus board.
Because used my own video and sound can't comment on the quality or if there are any issues with them.
I can say it works in Gentoo Linux fine. I had it ready before Winxp and only issue was the ethernet. For those out there using Linux, it uses the r8169 driver module. Had some items from my old install with udev and had to comment them out, but working great with Linux!
Cons: I don't use the floppy except maybe in an emergency, but do use the card reader that goes with the floppy. I have a Full Tower and the floppy connector is at the bottom of the board, so couldn't install it's cable. So if you really need it, you will have to get a LONG cable if using a full tower.
The front facing sata connectors are kinda hard to see when installing even though I have plenty of room.
My power supply is not that old, but the 8 pin ATX_12_2x4 connector did throw me for a minute. Just connected my 4 pin to the right side of the connector.
Gigabyte CD didn't work in winxp safe mode very well and had to manually find and install the windows drivers. Probably more microsofts fault than Gigabytes. Cause windows was very slow and luckily had a old ps/2 mouse laying around to use cause wouldn't see my usb mouse and had other issues. People that think microsoft is great haven't tried installing it.
Other Thoughts: Time will tell, but think have a great motherboard. Might just be feeling good cause boots up fine without having to wait 5 or 10 minutes like with the Asus board. Or go away for the weekend and take 2 hours to get it to boot up. Not sure I will ever use it cause only use Windows for games like l4d, but the Gigabyte update utility doesn't work either.
Man can't believe how much quieter this runs than the Asus.

Excellent Mother Board
Pros: This is an excellent motherboard. It worked right out of the box. I didn't by it from newegg since I compulsively bought while I was at a local computerstore. I ran the on board video for awhile before I could get a lot games to work well with just the onboard video. I Just added a Redeon HD 4870(a really good card for 150) it plays everything now.
Cons: It doesn't make pizza.
Other Thoughts: This is a really good Motherboard I highly recommend it.

Good board, but some issues
Pros: Awesome features, love the onboard video
Cons: Like some others said, the sideport memory went bad on me. It seems to have happened after updating the BIOS using @BIOS - the windows app for BIOS flashing. There were horizontal streaking artifacts on the screen after the update. RMA to Newegg, we'll see after I get it back.

Cons: side port memory produces alot of artifacts. i didnt notice till i was beyond my 30 day replacement time.

Pros: Rock solid, well built, lots of heat dispersion capabilty for the most part a good layout, comes with a very nice assortment of cables and hardware, TONS of usb inputs on the board
Cons: The CPU socket, RAM slots, and main power 2x12 are pretty close together, may cause issue with some CPU fans getting wires in the way. Tended to be unstable on my older 600w PS but is rock solid on the new 550w EPS PS. Bios loses settings randomly, even with a new CMOS battery.
Other Thoughts: The tech support and website are sketchy at best, if you think you may have a question, plan well ahead and do it some time M-F 8-5

A GRADE MOTHERBOARD
Pros: i have owned nothing but abit motherboards in the past but since newegg doesnt carry them anymore I was in between asus and gigabyte. and oh boy am I happy with this board. it has so many features out of the box and newegg is always doing a great job with their amazing fast delivery! I've been ordering parts from newegg since 2000 and I have nothing bad to say about them.
Cons: none what-so-ever
Other Thoughts: this is probably my first of many motherboards from gigabyte.

Pros: fast, easy install/setup. 100% reliable so far. No issues at all. runs games my old board couldn't.
Cons: had to wait 2 days for shipping, had to install it myself, wasn't free. Seriously, can't think of anything.
Other Thoughts: I have upgraded all 4 of my computers to Gigabyte boards in the last 8 months. Every one has been great. I am sold.

easy setup
Pros: I Needed to update my business system and I wanted flexibility and ease of install. This board has good documentation, extremely easy setup. I bought 2 other Gigabyte boards in December 08 and they were so easy to setup/install that I have purchased 2 more. I have used other brand budget boards previously and have had mixed results. The Asus board that I am replacing was a let down. From the start that board had issues with rebooting. This Gigabyte board has been flawless over the past few months.
Cons: Don't know of any. I keep things basic and easy. No overclocking or pushing the limits. I run a business and need stability. This board has been 100% stable
Other Thoughts: I am so impressed with the 4 new Gigabyte boards that I have bought. Of the 30+ systems that I have built over the last 15 years they were the easiest to install and set up. The drivers all installed without a single issue. The OS installed without a single problem. This was a first as it always seemed that SOMETHING would come up. My first 2 GB boards have been running for 8 months now without a single issue. I am sold!!

Great mobo for a first-timer
Pros: Great price as part of combo. EXCELLENT manual - this was my first-ever build and the manual was awesome in two ways: 1) it pretty much guides you through building a computer and 2) EVERYTHING on the mobo is explained. Maybe this is the way most board manuals are but having only owned computers built by other people, this was a revelation. Generous number of included cables. Ports for everything. Nice color contrast on board made it even easier for me to figure out where to plug stuff in. Onboard audio and video seem to be top-notch w/ good outputs, especially as this is gong to be a work/email/browsing PC for my wife, not a gaming rig, so no need to buy separate cards. So yeah, I like this product.
Cons: I'm sure there's stuff this doesn't do that I may not even know I need...but for my purposes, no cons yet.
Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to anybody who, like me, has been thinking of taking the plunge and building a system for themselves.

Decent board
Pros: -Solid mid-range board -Great heat dissipation -Good overclocking ability -Supports my Phenom II x4 940BE -Plenty of SATA ports -Decent onboard audio -Good value for the cash spent
Cons: -No eSATA -Had a cold boot issue with my Phenom II chip out of the box. Wouldn't POST unless the power supply was turned off for a few seconds, but would reboot fine after. Fixed issue by turning off ACC in the advanced features part of the BIOS -Weird fan controller placement under my 8800 GTS 512
Other Thoughts: I'm pretty content with this board for now. Buying a PCIE 1x eSATA controller to make up for the lack of it on the board. Got this set up with 6GB DDR2 800, 2x Seagate 7200 RPM 500GB SATA drives in RAID 0, custom liquid cooling system using Swiftech parts in an Antec P-180B heavily modded to run silent
If you need a decent mid-range board, I recommend it, but having jumped ship from Intel to AMD for the sake of saving $, I have to say my C2D rig FELT faster. Bought in May 09.

Works great for VMware ESXi 4.0
Pros: I stuck an AMD Phenom x4 9950 and 4GB of Kingston RAM, plus an Intel PCI gig-e nic to get VMware ESXi4 to work. I am impressed with the build quality of the heat pipe and the circuit board layout. Love how the box comes with 4 SATA cables plus an IDE.
Cons: No cons

DOA on Arrival
Pros: The price was low.
Cons: And now I remember an old saying. The Bitter Taste of Poor Quality. Remains long after the sweetness of a Low Price.
Other Thoughts: Maybe its my lack of knowledge to reverse engineer these builds by making sure the mobo works before putting all these parts into my box. Now after taking my time (3 weeks) to build this box on the architecture of a diffferent board manufacturer its showtime. Hit the switch, no POST, NO indications of any activity from the MOBO, thanks goodness I had a few days left to get warranty from the Egg and now another board is heading my way. Hope its better than the first one. Yeah for newegg and their help.

Great Mobo
Pros: This board is great. Great luck OCing my 710x3 which i oc'd to x4core at 3.0ghz on stock clock. The bios has sooo many options and gigabyte keeps all their drivers and bios versions up to par. Many updates with more options.
Cons: I thought that Crossfire hybrid worked with all ATI cards. In fact it only works with certain low end ones to boost their performance. Get the board without Video chipset if you are gaming.
Other Thoughts: My fault for not researching enough about hybrid crossfire

One month and 5 days, then dead
Pros: Worked great when I had it, aside from mild audio and video issues. Updgraded to new bios to hopefully fix problems, but only found them worse, so I went back to the original bios.
Cons: Died on me one month and five days after purchasing, so no chance to RMA through Newegg, have to go through Gigabyte warranty. Fed up, replacing motherboard, then selling it for something else.

Pros: GREAT board so far!! My new system is up and running. Easy to make all connections and I love the "silent pipe" feature. Recognized my proc (AMD Phenom II 940), 2 Sapphire 3870 cards crossfired and my 8 GB of G skill ram with no problems. Haven't had a chance to do any tweaking, still have to transfer everything from old puter to new puter. Grateful to finally have new system running. Can't wait to play newer games that old system can't run. Recommend to anyone interested in assembling their own system.
Cons: Only con is that it didn't magically appear in my hands the minute I ordered it. Seriously, so far this is a solid board and I have no cons to report.
Other Thoughts: Newegg absolutely ROCKS!! Top notch company to deal with. Customers come first with newegg and I can't say enough good things about "the egg". Thank you Newegg, I'm a customer for life!! A+++

1066 versus 800
Pros: here is the real deal with 1066 versus 800 for this board, please READ carefully to understand: first off this board DOES in fact support 1066 RAM; for anyone that says otherwise is foolish and ridiculous. second off: the QVL for RAM for this mobo on Gigabyte's website states: "Note: Due to AMD AM2+ CPU limitation, memory module DDR2 1066 or above speed is only supported by 1 dimm per channel." Translation: one (1) 1066 stick is to be installed in Slot 1 (Channel 0) and one (1) 1066 stick is to be installed in Slot 2 (Channel 1). This board supports dual channel RAM with Channel 0 being Slots 1 and 3 and Channel 1 being Slots 2 and 4. By being in Slots 1 and 2, you are adhering to the "supported by 1 dimm per channel" part thus running at the 1066 speed with stock voltages in BIOS.
Cons: **Once again for 1066 in dual channel to work** 1 1066 RAM stick is to be installed in Slot 1 and another installed in Slot 2. This will run Channels 0 and 1 in dual channel configuration. The limitation of the AM2+ CPU, NOT the mobo, is that it can ONLY support 1066 speed with 1 stick per channel. >2 sticks (ex. all 4 slots) will still run in dual channel configuration but will NOT run at 1066 but rather 800. again, limitation of AM2+.
Other Thoughts: Keep in mind, everything I mentioned above is for STOCK settings only.; no overclocking within BIOS or other utilities. OCing may alter all these speeds but will affect your timings which can impact your system stability.
g00gle is your friend when it comes to the 1066 vs. 800 argument/confusion.

Solid, Sexy
Pros: Sexy, Works, No issues.. Did have to update the bios, almost normal there. Onboard video is better then expected I am running aftermarket and probably don't need to. There are some lower priced Asus boards that easily give this one a run for the money. I finally had an Asus take a dive, Gigabyte gets a chance and there is something to be said for asthetics. The board 'Looks Good' I'd note that I am running a dual core on it and barely pushing the limits. I play 1942 ( Original ) , no need.
Cons: 1066 memory ? It says in small print.. will only run 1066 in one slot not two. It won't run period.. runs at 800. This is such a small issue.. I'm old school and would have been happy with pc3200 , I mean I had see the point in ddr2 when the latency goes up as you double the memory. For that matter, I'm about half irked that socket 939 was rendered obsolete by moving some pins around and calling it AM2.
Other Thoughts: You can probably save a few bones and get what you need.. buying this board is like tipping the designers for a design well thought out. A reasonable tip. It is still low cost.

Only One Problem CPU cooler
Pros: Easy Install, this board is really great and easy to install. I think most problems being encountered are caused by either High CPU temps causing machine to shut down. Or low ram voltages causing ram to run at 800 instead of 1066 and thus causing stalling during boot up.
Cons: Guys do your self a favor and install a aftermarket cpu cooler and you will no problems. For the people that up the voltage on the ram to run 1066 this creates lots of heat and the stock cooler will not keep it cool enough. Mine had 4gb running at 800 and I upped it to 1066 and the temps went way up. I then installed another 4gb of ram with the tall heat sinks and after playing a online game for app.10 minutes the machine shut down due to high temp. The stock cooler would not cool it. I use ARCTIC Paste. I removed 4gb and set the power settings to balanced and lowered the speed to 800 and it runs fine. I am waiting on a cpu cooler. The power settings in the control panel do make a huge difference in the temp of the cpu. Use power saving mode for the lowest temps but you will not take advantage of your processor capacity. Balanced setting works well but still slow processor speed. I usually run on the performance setting which sets your processor to its highest speed all the time .
Other Thoughts: I am waiting on the cpu cooler to get here and I will repost the conclusion. I think most of the problems people are having is due to high cpu temps. I installed Easy TUNE 6 and it caused a lot of problems so I would not recommend using this program. I am having stalling during boot up but I thnk this will be cured when I can speed up my ram speed. I will let you know.

Great MoBo
Pros: You get what you pay for.
Great over clocking board. Very easy, no issues at all with the set up. Great placement setup on the board. DualBios is a big plus.
Cons: The only issue I had was this board came with default SmartFan on and AMD Cool n Quiet defaulted on.
Normally only one or neither is defaulted on. It took me a few minutes to realize that and got it set up how I want.
Other Thoughts: Bought the Phenom II X4 920 to go with this, was able to push it to 3.6 (default 2.8) with ease.

Works well for a file/media server build
Pros: Easy install, onboard video works perfectly over HDMI, not a single issue to this point of any kind
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: I picked this up as an upgrade for my home server (moving from an older socket 939 board with a single core Opteron). I installed Windows Home Server, along with a 5050e, Intel PCI-E NIC, 8-port Supermicro SATA controller, and 9 hard drives - everything went smoothly, with absolutely no problems. Runs cool, onboard video works perfectly, lower power consumption than my previous server.
I can't comment on any overclocking features the board might have, as obviously I'm not going to overclock a media server - the 5050e is probably overkill at stock speeds as it is.
Until recently I almost always went with an Asus board when putting together a new system, but I'm noticing that Gigabyte is gradually winning my business - both my HTPC and file server are now built around Gigabyte boards.

GIGAFIED
Pros: Booted up on first touch of button, went into bios turned on EPP and recognized memory at 1066 no tweaks needed and at a lower voltage than rated ...Video card isn't bad rated a 4.4 on vista so it's ok for a "lite" gamer
A nice upgrade from AMD X2-4400
Cons: didn't come with a mobo speaker, not really a con but just some heads up!!

very nice
Pros: What can I say, it works great. It stays cool, the board has room for my video cards and sound cards. All the sata and usb ports you could ask for. I am happy.
Cons: The only con is that I had to send the first one back DOA.

Faulty
Pros: Everything on the case is well built and all my hardware fit snuggly and fit perfectly on the board
Cons: The board will not display onboard or gpu video. Tried all the obvious things as reset the bios and try diffrent slots for memory and one at a time with no avail.

Easy to install; Performs great!!
Pros: This was actually my first full build, but it made me feel like a pro! Very good instructions helped me get it up and running very quickly. It detected my DVD drive, hard drive, CPU, memory and video card without issues. I have yet to have one BSOD, so the system has been very stable to say the obvious!
Cons: None!

Excellent motherboard
Pros: Currently running the board with Athlon X2 45W CPU. HD video plays full screen at 1920x1080 without any problems even while doing something else. Power consumption is around 85W while running (1DVD + 3HDs - 150VR, 750GB GP WD and 1TB Green WD).
I did not have a single crash since installing the motherboard more than 6 months ago. Stability is remarkable. Low power CPU and OK case (Antec 300 with only one activated fan) probably contribute to this as well.
Cons: AMD's chipset limitation of not being able to use 2 digital video ports for dual monitor configuration. I have to use VGA to drive 19" LCD and DVI for 27".
BIOS flash has a quirk. After flashing a new version MB bootstrap video is pumped to VGA only. Once new BIOS settings are saved and windows boots up startup character screen goes to VGA AND DVI port. I commonly do not have LCD monitor on that is connected to VGA so more than once I thought that BIOS flash killed my board.
Other Thoughts: Plan to upgrade CPU to Phenom X3 once prices for 65W version stabilize
Excellent motherboard for people who want integrated video that plays HD content and low system power consumption (low noise as well)

Very nice
Pros: This board is very easy to install, I had no problems with it. It started the first time and everything worked correctly. The documentation is VERY good that comes with it. Just look the instructions over and it is easy.
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: This board is worth the money and then some. I looked for quite some time before I bought this and really think I made a good choice.

Best MB ever owned
Pros: Great BIOS. Really good OCing options. I've had my 940BE up to 3.71 GHz and the OCZ 1150 Reaper mem sticks to 1190 MHz solidly. I backed then down to 3.65 GHz and 1167MHz respectively and ran prime95 successively for 7+ hours. Each of the 15 or 20 MB's I've purchased of the last 15 years have been better than the last (notable exception: D**'s AMD K6 implementation about 10 years ago, no wonder why they're a B team boardmaker nowadays) and so is this one. I've plugged a 955BE into it for a couple of days and the board was able to put that CPU through it's paces as well. I haven't tried that RAID functions. The onboard graphics is plenty for Flight Sim 2004 (my only game) with 35+ fps at all times.
Cons: It not DDR3 is my only reason for buying another board. I wish Gigabyte would have had a 790GX board for the AM3 CPUs.
Other Thoughts: I couldn't get my IDE optical drives to work in the legacy PIDE port. It was time to get a couple of new and inexpensive DVD drives anyhow. Newegg rocks.

Good MB if not DOA
Pros: Decent motherboard. Has lots of I/O ports and expansion. All functions integrated onto motherboard. Has PS/2 mouse and keyboard so I can use existing input devices. Has onboard video with sideport memory and three video output ports which is reasonably fast. Lots of BIOS features. Running with a Phenom II 940, 4 GB ram and the system is fast.
Cons: The first MA790GP-UD4H motherboard I received was DOA. It had a "cold boot problem." MB wouldn't boot when the computer was off for 10+ hours, but would boot on the second try. Trying to diagnose this problem was a big hassle. Newegg honored the 30 day return policy and sent me a replacement which works well. I only give it 3/5 because Gigabyte shipped a defective motherboard and all the trouble this caused me. I would have given it a 5/5 if the first MB was not defective.
Other Thoughts: There are lots of possibilities with this motherboard: RAID, more video cards, more RAM, overclocking possible, etc. Hopefully, the cold boot problem is uncommon.

Possibly THE Best Mobo I've Ever Owned!
Pros: SOLID construction. I've never handled a better-feeling board, and I've built many computers (check my review history, hehe).
Silent heatpipes! Nice for me, as I have only scythe fans in my case and a Corsair PSU (< 21 dB most of the time). It's quieter than any computer I've ever heard. :D
I get to stick with cheap DDR2 SDRAM for now. 5% benefit for 10% of tasks you run on your computer doesn't seem worth it for the additional price at this time.
Onboard AMD graphics work well, I tested it out to make sure. It's not uber-powerful, but it's got enough juice for some HD content. I'll stick with my Thermalright-modded silent 8800GT for now, though it'll be great to have in a pinch if my video card ever dies on me.
Cons: Heavy (probably just the solid construction, more copper, etc)
The onboard SATA controller still isn't really even close to the Intel variants (ICH9r or whatnot), but I knew this going in. You will max it out with just two SSDs in RAID. Luckily I don't have to worry about it for a while. At least AMD's chipset (SB750?) is less buggy than my old NForce4.
Other Thoughts: I've owned a lot of gear, and this is honestly one of the most impressive setups I've seen in a while. I wish SATA 6G was available already, as I'd have made sure to get that to futureproof myself against the inevitable waterfall of SSD enhancements to come. Great price for an awesome board.
Best of luck with your build! ;)

One of the best
Pros: This is a SOLID board, the double copper layer is a big bump up in the weight department. Obvious high quality workmanship throughout. Dual BIOS is a great idea, lost a couple of boards to corrupted BIOS in the past.
Nice layout, by far the easiest board to work with in recent memory. everything is clearly labeled ON THE BOARD,didn't need to reference the manual once. Recognized my OCZ 800 memory without a hitch.
Sata was flawless, installed XP pro without a hiccup, which is a nice change from sata issues I've had on some ASUS boards. Onboard video will crossfire with supported ATI video cards so it's not useless if you upgrade to a better GPU.
Cons: Not really a con, but it's a lot more colorful than I'm used to.
Other Thoughts: Spent the past 5 years using only ASUS boards but picked up This Gigabyte after getting burned a couple of times. Not sure if I had a run of bad luck or ASUS quality is slipping......
For the money its the best Phenom 2 board out there right now.

Compatibility Issues
Pros: The board worked well for the first month or so. I ended up buying a replacement in the same line (790x-UD4P) and am quite happy. For the most part, have been happy with Gigabyte's products.
Cons: Not so much on the board itself, maybe, as my own laziness in checking compatibility with components. First and foremost, ensure you've checked the RAM compatibility list on Gigabyte's website - I used 4 Mushkin 2Gb sticks, and immediately began having lockups and blue screens. Removing 2 of the RAM sticks resolve the issue. Also of note, though it may not necessarily be the board's fault, is video cards. I attempted to put in an EVGA 9800GTX+ 1Gb GDDR5 card, and was treated to a catastrophic crash - BIOS recovering itself, chkdisk, et al. Since that crash, the board will only recognize 3 of the 4 GB of RAM installed on a 64bit OS, and has random lockups and blue screens. Unfortunately, it is too late to RMA through NewEgg, and Gigabyte is not bothering to respond to any requests for assistance.
Other Thoughts: I would very much encourage anyone purchasing this board to check Gigabyte's compatibility lists BEFORE making the purchase. I would also like to see Newegg offer some sort of link feature so these comparisons could be done right from the item's main product sheet. I have even seen Newegg "suggest" secondary components that the compatibility list specifically states do not work with that particular item. On a final note, do your utmost to test all items received from Newegg asap. Newegg's customer support does a great job for RMA's, whereas a lot of manufacturers customer support (this means YOU Gigabyte) sucks.

Awesome board
Pros: This seems to work great with the processor I picked out. No problems what-so-ever
Cons: Just a small problem with the design. It has 6 SATA connections. 2 of the connections are facing up (no problem) but 4 of the SATA connections are piled on top of each other facing out (WTH?). The problem with this is that if you have L shaped SATA cables you can only use two of the connections (the way it's designed makes the L part block the other connector) and if you have a regular SATA cable it's a big hard to get into the connection (if your harddrives are already installed). Besides that, its a great board

Great board if and when it works
Pros: Lots of nice features. If it works.
Cons: Quality control seems to be non-existent. I'm waiting for my THIRD board now. So much for "Ultra-durable". I've never had this much trouble with any brand of motherboard.
Other Thoughts: First board would not even POST. Second was up and running fine for a couple of weeks until my overheating quad core cpu failed. No visible damage at all but the board would not post again even with a new cpu. Totally dead. Of course it's out of warranty now so it was sent directly to the factory RMA center. I'm not holding my breath on the next one working either. From now on I will ignore "Customer Choice Award" labels!

very pleased
Pros: Xfire, AM2+, AM3, doenst need new bios to boot new p2 955. does what it says it will do and then some.
Cons: does need new bios to run p2 955 @ correct volts/speed, and to run 8gb ddr2 1066 dual channel. not really a con since u can update from windows with a few clicks using @bios.
Other Thoughts: i would reccomend to anyone, ive built a sweet new comp from egg without spending over 800 bucks.

oh yeah!
Pros: Rock-solid feel to this board. This is my first build and everything went together extremely well. Comes with a double set of instructions, one for fast-track and another for more detail. Fired-up immediately, ready for business. I had Ubuntu 8.04 installed and running 15 minutes later.
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: I wish board builders were still including more than one IDE slot. I didn't feel comfortable reusing my older servicable ATA hard-drive and an optical drive as master/slave

Gigabyte quality???
Pros: People say that they are good. But are they???
Cons: I have bought three of these boards. Mine seems to have a problem with the SATA controller. I had 3 SATA drives connected, and the board ran fine for a while and then started running real flaky. I disconnected the 2 drives (D-disk and E-Disk) and then it ran fine again. I later hooked another new 750Gig SATA drive up as a D-disk and no problem with it. I tested the other 2 SATA drives on another machine and there is nothing the matter with them. I then hooked up one of them again as an E-disk and found I could not copy the files over to the new D-disk (machine looked like it was copying but it was really doing nothing). Since I work on computers for a living my quess is that there is something wrong wtih the SATA controllers. I bought a second board for a customer's custom build. It had a system (chipset) temp of 55 degress C with 3 different AM2 CPU, which was almost 25 degrees C hotter than one of the CPUs (BE-2400). It cost me 10 to RMA it and it took 13 days.
Other Thoughts: $140 a piece for nothing but trouble. If you have 2 weeks extra if you have to RMA it and 10 extra for shipping, then gamble. Running an AM3 Phenom II 720 and an AMD 6000+. Former Sr Systems Analyst and now build and repair computers for hobby and living.

Nice board
Pros: Booted fast, likes my usb keyboard. Thought there was an issue that a BIOS update fixed, easily updated the bios from a usb drive, turns out I didn't have the problem after all.
Cons: 2 network interfaces would be cool.

Pros: easy to install. bios was a breeze with the excellent manual & guide book they supply. so far works fine.
Cons: the only complaint is the position of the 4 sata headers (2,3,4, &5). they point toward my hard drive enclosure making it a little hard to connect to them since i have 5 hard drives. otherwise great board.
Other Thoughts: great up-grade from my epox ad580xr. epox has no support & i think are out of business. the board would not detect my pci device once i up-graded my os to windows vista home premium 64. my advice - avoid epox.

Great Board
Pros: This board has a lot to offer. It has worked beautifully since day one, and I am sure will last for a long time to come.
Cons: I read that some users had issues with the onboard sound. I too had some crackling with it, but installed my Creative SB Audigy card like I planned anyway and it solved the problem.

A work of art
Pros: Motherboard looks nice, has pretty cool onboard gfx, tons of SATA ports. I really like the heat pipes on the onboard gfx, its a nice touch.
Cons: Onboard gfx could not run 1080p videos very well, but it is to be expected. My Core Contact Freezer cooler hangs over the ram slots and it is a tight fit for the first 2 sticks.
Other Thoughts: Goes very well with my Phenom II 940

To those with RAM issues
Pros: i purchased Corsair XMS 1066 RAM to be used with this board for my setup. like others, i had issues with the RAM not being properly set to run at 1066 on Auto settings within the BIOS.
***to enable the proper running of 1066 RAM: within the BIOS be sure that EPP (Enhanced Performance Profile) is turned on (enabled); it is not enabled by default.***
once i did this i did not have to do any manual changes with timings/voltages/anything to have the RAM running at the full correct 1066. this was confirmed running CPUZ within Vista; all timings and speeds were reported as they were advertised.
in addition, one reviewer spoke of using DIMM 1 & 3 for 1066 RAM. the issue i see with that is simply DIMM 1 & 3 are on the same channel. by using 1 & 3, you are not taking advantage of dual channel mode for your RAM. you may get the 1066 but it's not dual channel. i am using DIMM 1 & 2 and have confirmed my RAM is operating in dual channel mode as well, once again through CPUZ.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: there is no reason to use single channel for 1066 RAM when simply turning on EPP in the BIOS will most likely solve your RAM issues. then you will get the most out of what you paid for.

Great Future Proof Board
Pros: Superior board layout. Useable SATA ports. Plenty of slots for me to fill, and I did, even after Crossfire. Instalation under Vista 64 was flawless, recognized everything, ram is at correct settings, no driver issues. Plays well with all my components. BIOS rev to support socket am3 just out so I guess I"ll have to get that 955 now. My wife hates Newegg LOL!
Cons: I don't like the placement of the USB header ports. They lie between the 2 PCIe 2.0 slots and can block airflow to GPU cards.
Other Thoughts: I enjoyed my build with this board so much that I bought a second to replace my socket 939 board. Specs; GA-MA790GP Phenom 2 x4 940 4 Gb A-Data ddr2 800 2 HIS Radeon 4670 Crossfired

decent board; some compatability issues
Pros: Overall a solid board. No problems installing anything. the BIOS has a fair number of bells and whistles, but I can't comment on how well they work since I'm not using many of them.
Cons: There are some issues with the onboard SATA and and networking card that will give you grief running on certain platforms:
The SATA issue will prevent your drives from being recognized under Solaris and some versions of Linux if you run in AHCI mode. (They should work fine in IDE mode.) Under Ubuntu 9.04 they work, but you'll get an warning every time you boot for each drive saying "Softreset failed (device not ready)".
The networking card also has issues being detected properly under Solaris. It worked fine with OpenSolaris, but Nexenta (Solaris-based) couldn't detect the MAC address properly, and Solaris 10 just didn't see the card at all. It's probable these could be fixed with driver updates, but be aware that you'll need 'em if you go with Solaris. Seems to work fine under Linux.
Haven't tried any flavor of Windows with this board, so I can't comment there. I'd expect things to work fine, though, since I'm certain the Gateway folks tested with Windows.
Other Thoughts: Can't say anything about long-term reliability since I've only had it for a week.

An update
Pros: Solid Board, high quality.
Cons: I have been trying to OC this board and a Phenom II 940 for many weeks. I am able to OC it in the BIOS and using AMD Overdrive, finally. At first Overdrive wouldn't raise the CPU multiplier. After much tinkering I realized that you can not overclock the multiplier with Cool and Quiet running either through the BIOS or with Overdrive. Seems a strange way to set up the BIOS but maybe it is a limitation of C and Q. I wish Gigabyte had made that clear on their website or in the manual. Perhaps they didn't realize it themselves.
Other Thoughts: Otherwise I have no complaints.

Great motherboard
Pros: This is a solid motherboard. Everything fit well. I like the heat pipe instead of the northbridge fan, as that was the noisiest component of my last system.
Cons: It didn't come with a cap on the 4-pin extension on the main power connector. So when it referred to taking the cap off in the instructions, I couldn't figure out what it was talking about. But after some fiddling around, I figured I had to plug in the 12v connector, and unplug the extra 4-pin plug on the main connector. Now my computer boots.
Other Thoughts: The color coordinating is nice, and there are a ton of BIOS options.

Great specs - some confusion
Pros: The specs on this board are great, especially if you don't intend on using additional video/audio cards like I am. The base system includes HDMI which is a nice touch. With a nice CPU cooler this is a dream to overclock and customize!
Cons: No mention ANYWHERE in the instructions that you have to use DIMM 1&3 if using 1066 memory, will not work if you try to use 1&2...spent quite a while testing my RAM and was close to RMAing the MB since I thought DIMM2 was faulty...only after checking their wbsite did I catch on an figure out how to do it. I'm now running only 4GB of RAM, and am still not sure if I can add on more to DIMM 2&4 or not?!?! This could be a BIG downside if you cannot upgrade the 1066 RAM (note...this should not be a problem if you are running slower RAM).
Other Thoughts: Check their website for latest info on MB!!! Could make difference between working or not.

will go the distance
Pros: this board is strong and sturdy, one of the heaviest mobo's I've ever owned. Says right on the box it uses 2oz's of copper in stead of the usual 1oz in the PCB. Lot's 4 rear USB ports and expansion for 8 more. HD Audio, HD Video and hybrid crossfire support. This board has it all for under $150. Booted right up with a Phenom II 940. I had it OC'd to 3.5ghz on air cooling by the end of the day.
Cons: no eSATA port, still haven't figured out how to get my front audio ports to work.

Gigabyte takes the crown away from ASUS
Pros: Sleek design, Layout is what I was looking - nearly perfect, quiet, cool temperatures, great onboard sound.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Gigabyte is at the quality ASUS was at in 2005-2007. Gigabyte has great deals on amazing motherboards, I switched from ASUS to Gigabyte confidently because I knew that Gigabyte has taken the crown in motherboard quality at this current time in price, layout, and functionality. ASUS seemed to have gone the complete opposite direction with there motherboard prices, layout, and functionality. If your looking for a top quality motherboard and a great price, this is it.

What happened to my ESATA?
Pros: Stable motherboard with solid drivers.
Super fast performance.

Gigabyte's $70 board has an esata.
The economy is messing things up!
Other Thoughts: Antec 900 case Corsair power supply Phenom II 940 @ 3.5 stock air 4GB GSKILL 1066 1 Terabyte Samsung SpinPoint sata 22x samsung sata

Good
Pros: Good OC options in BIOS. Well constructed board. Saved 50 bucks with the Deneb combo
Cons: F2 BIOS causes some audio and other problems. My audio problems went away after Loading Optimized Defaults in BIOS, rebooting, then resetting the options as I wanted them. No idea why it worked. I also recommend avoiding Realtek's audio driver and use the ATi one in the chipset package. Most of Gigabyte's utility software is garbage. I used AMD Overdrive, CCC and Fusion
Other Thoughts: I disable the IGP OCed my Deneb to 3.6 GHz stable. This is my 3rd Gigabyte board over the years and I have not been disappointed yet.
