Rating + 2 Does not want to boot

Pros: Works well, when it does boot up. No real stability issues even after having my computer on for days/weeks at a time.

Cons: There is a reason for leaving it on. Once it is off, it is a real hassle to turn on again. Frequently shuts off at "Decompressing bios to ram" stage of boot.
CPU-z and NVidia's web based driver scan detect chipset as 740a instead of 750a.

Other Thoughts: Will rate better if situation is resolved. Removed chipset heatsinks and chipset is labeled as nforce 750a. Currently working with nvidia and msi on cause for boot failure and chipset issue.

Pros: On board optical and integrated 8000 series video. Not a bad price. Includes automated driver update software.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking to use SLI in the near future, but don't have the cash, this will keep you running until you do.

Rating + 5 Phenom II X4 955 WOW!

Pros: Had this board a while now. Flashed it with BIOS v.3.5 and took a chance. Yep! Phenom II X4 955 fired right up. OC'ed to 3.683 GHz so far.

Cons: WARNING! After CPU install got straight to BIOS and set to fail safe settings FIRST. When I went into BIOS the CPU voltage was set way too high. Aster that I started to OC.

Other Thoughts: So far I'm hitting a wall at 3.7 GHz.

Rating + 5 I guess I got the good one...

Pros: Hybrid SLI using 8600 PCI-E if you need it, frankly I bought at 9800GT and turned the Hybrid SLI off. Will recognize any chip socket 940 and up, X2, Phenom, Phenom II etc.

Circi-Pipe, looks cool, LEDs through case look nice.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Some people say they are having trouble with their board recognizing their 7750 Kuma, I had no problems, originally had BIOS 3.1, but recently upgraded to BIOS 3.4 to use with Windows 7 RC. Also if you own the 7750 Kuma, it's a Phenom with 1 or 2 cores disabled, so you can run 1066 memory just set in the DRAM settings 1:2:66 and you're good to go.

I don't overclock, though if I wanted to it has plenty of features, multiplier is unlocked on the 7750 Kuma and any Black edition CPUs.

Stock cooling, 30C idle, 40C load, only thing I recommend is not using the Dual-Core Center as it will cause your LEDs to report incorrectly. Use CoreTemp for CPU and nVidia System Utilities for all other temps.

My rig:
MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum
MSI N9800GT-OC 512 v1
4GB Corsair XMS PC8500
1x WD 80GB SATA
1x WD 80GB PATA
1x WD 320GB SATA

Rating + 5 Great Board

Pros: great board, I like the spacing of the slots and the four sata ports that don't get blocked by large video cards. Dual Ide ports are good for upgraders with ide drives. the leds are nice in a clear side case. Reconized my Phenom II 940 BE right away w/o a bios upgrade

Cons: CPUid says the northbridge is 740a not a 750a

Rating + 3 Doesn't allow you to changes voltages...

Pros: This motherboard is pretty good. Recognizes AMD Phenom X4 and Phenom II X4 chips. Runs amazing if your ram is set to 800mhz. Overclocking is not very easy as it does not let you change any voltages at all...

Cons: My OCZ Reaper 1066mhz ram doesn't function well with this board at all. When it is clocked at 800mhz, it is fine, but when it is clocked at 1066mhz I get lockups, freezes, and blue screens galore.

Other Thoughts: Many of you advertise this as a great board for overclocking, however, all of my voltage options and overclocking options are greyed out? Why is that? Without being able to change my Rams voltage, the ram it is advertised to use doesn't work...

Rating + 1 Works great without a monitor plugged in!

Pros: This is a great choice for systems not needing video. Very versatile.

Cons: If, as is the case with most of us (including me), you need video this board could turn out to be not a great choice.

Other Thoughts: I have had very bad with this board. Unless magic happens, I'm about to RMA this board. This is a replacement for another such board which also had an onboard video failure (albeit of a slightly different nature).

Rating + 4 Linux compatible

Pros: Hardware wise, this is a pretty good motherboard. Has high quality parts and plenty of capacitors. Doesn't put PCI between the SLI slots so if you get a video card with a monster heatsink (like I did) you won't lose a PCI slot to it. Supports 8GB RAM, has plenty of SATA, e-SATA, firewire, USB, and a pretty good sound chipset. Has two IDE channels for 4 drives max. NVidia 750a chipset is VERY good!

Software wise: WORKS WITH LINUX (Ubuntu 9.04/64-bit). I haven't tried it with previous Linux distributions, but if you're running Ubuntu 8.10 (and maybe 8.04?) you might need to pass "pci=nomsi" to the kernel. With Ubuntu 9.04 you do not. dmraid works. full sound support and support for onboard peripherals (FireWire, USB, etc.). Haven't tested if the e-SATA chipset is supported yet, but I'd suspect so.

Oh and of course it works with Windows (XP for now, probably vista later)--came with driver CD's for both which is VERY nice.

Cons: I'd like if the motherboard supported 16GB instead of the 8GB of RAM, but honestly 8GB of RAM is pretty good. The motherboard heatsinks are a little sharp so careful with the first video card. Also, there is plenty of USB expansion (4 ports on motherboard itself and up to 6 ports I believe via expanders) but it'd be nice if there were 2-4 additional USB ports on the motherboard itself.

The biggest problem for me was connecting the front audio/USB to the motherboard. The usb headers weren't bad, but the audio headers were in the FARTHEST corner of the motherboard! Not the smartest move on MSI's part.

Other Thoughts: I have this with an NVidia 9600GT (Gigabyte), AMD Phenom 9650 and 4GB of Kingston X RAM (cas: 4-4-4-12). I have a dual-boot setup with a 300gb drive for linux and 300gb drive for windows. Then I've got a nvidia RAID5 array of 3x500GB hard drives that I use in Linux. I run multiple VM sessions at the same time all coming from the RAID array. In addition I use that array for storing all other files... Performance is pretty good and I don't notice it very much.

Over all, MSI did a pretty good job on this system. I gave it 4/5 eggs only because I'd like to have seen more USB on the motherboard and more memory along with the crazy placing of the audio headers. Really though, 10 USB *should* be enough and 8GB is pretty reasonable, especially with the other stuff they give--firewire and esata. I'd definately recommend this!

Pros: Runs well. No lockups when properly powered.

Cons: The first thing i thought when i saw the color scheme on this board was "Flamboyantly (word not permitted in reviews)". The first thing a friend of mine did when seeing this board for the first time was to fall out of his chair, laughing at the appearance)

Other Thoughts: try not to use a windowed case, people might see your motherboard and laugh.

Rating + 4 Well, it worked for me.

Pros: First time building a computer from scratch. The board works well and found all my hardware without a problem. Looks like a ton of overclock options in the bios. Support for legacy hardware was very important to me, and this board has it.

Cons: Not sure if it's my inexperience or not, but their documentation seems pretty slim. Also, it set the ram at 800 instead of 1066. It was easy enough to change.

Rating + 5 Good to go... but...

Pros: Booted right up. It has nice upgrade potential that will save me $$$ down the road. Overclocking is simple and best of all it's backwards compatable with my old Geforce 7600 GT cards in SLI. Will of course be upgrading them soonest but sort of strapped for $ after rebuild, lol. - Worth it for sure.

Cons: Expected it to clock down the Ram... did not expect it to make the "Kingston HyperX 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 Desktop Memory" into 1.5 gig per stick (and 4 gig total into 2.25 Gig total since I bought 2 sticks.) Mainboard instructions and specs do not cover this and I was unable to alter it in BIOS. But then again Ram is ready for my next CPU upgrade :D and 2.25 Gigs will suffice for now. Thats why it still gets 5 of 5.

Other Thoughts: This was my bad as the CPU I purchased was an AM2 5800 not an AM2+ (+ supports 1066) The board overall works great, got it from newegg ontime as promised. Customer of newegg for many years and this will continue. Would like to mention it's also one of the few AMD + Geforce SLI Motherboards still available.

Pros: All the features that I wanted for a good price. I put an AMD X4 940 and OC'ed to 3.4 with no voltage change. I could get more if I want to.

Cons: The PATA and power could be switched but its ok the way my case is laid out.

Pros: None

Cons: The first board arrived with a broken cir-cu-pipe. So I
RMA'ed the board right back to newegg the same day.
Recieved my new board after a week and a half. This
board suck's. Won't recognise my AM+7750 at all. Lots
of options in bios but the instruction book is very un-
clear as how to set up. I'm going back to Asus products
that work 99% of the time. Don't waste your money or
time with MSI.

Pros: none

Cons: blew the jumpers off the motherboard, literally. Tried 3 different power supplies. All three of them shorted out, along with my nvidia 9800 GTX.

Ram slot 2 is dead, top PCI-e 16x is dead, sata port 3 is dead.

was standing by with a fire extinguisher when i tried the second power supply in fear of it blowing up..

Other Thoughts: Do not buy.

Rating + 4 not a bad board

Pros: haven't had any problems, runs stable, great overclocking options in bios, I have always used MSI boards, My previous build was an Asus (solid board but overrated) this board is a temporary to hold me over until the new phenom II 955 is available (just showed up on newegg today) so I will be switching to an AM3 board for DDR3 support but this K9N2 has served me well in the mean time.

Cons: Large video cards block 2 sata ports, copper fins can hinder the installation of lage HSF's.

Other Thoughts: I have been reading about lots of problems with this board, I haven't experienced any of them, make sure bios is updated, Have raid drivers ready on flash drive (or floppy for XP) before you install your OS. sounds like some people are just swapping motherboards and expecting a previous install of windows to work. Sometimes it will but the best thing you can do is new MB- fresh windows install. That will save you a lot of trouble.

Rating + 5 UPDATE....CLEAN THE BACK OF THE BOARDS!

Pros: These boards a fantastic.... with one hitch, (see below)

Cons: CHECK THE BACK OF THE MSI BOARDS for mask residue.... sometimes referred to as "goo". I cleaned my board with either laquer thinner or acetone (forgot which one) and it is still purring like a kitten. The K9N2 Diamond that was also bought at newegg appeared to be CLEAN OF GOO.... 2 1/2 months later, it blew out! When I pulled the board from the CPU, I saw lint from teh air stuch to the bottom of the board! Even though the board appeared to be clean, it WAS NOT. SPEND THE TIME TO CLEAN THE BACK OF THE BOARDS, this is why they are crapping out.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board from neweggn and a customer of mine bought the K9N2 Diamond from newegg. I am handling the RMA with MSI for my customer... MSI WILL NOT ADVANCED RMA at any cost! This was a mission critical CPU! I will not refer others to MSI without first doing a scrubdown on the boards and explaing the RMA process to them. BEWARE on RMA process with MSI.

Rating + 1 RAID and Memory

Pros: Nice functionality. Wish it worked as advertised.

Cons: 64 bit Windows Vista RAID is not reliable. Will not run OCZ Reaper 2GB sims (4 GB dual channel kit) at 1066 with 8GB. BIOS board is shipped with will burn out your Phenom II CPU real quick, sets voltage very high. You must know this from the beginning or you will loose the CPU or not be able to run even for a few minutes without letting it cool for a long while. This has been the hardest mother board I have ever worked with.

Other Thoughts: Running Phenom II 940 3GHz, 8GB OCZ Reaper (do not use this memory with this board), 2 Wester Digital Caviar 640GB drives (for RAID). I am not over-clocking and all voltages and memory timings are set to specification. After BIOS setup with voltage and timings, it does run stable 64 bit Windows Server 2008 (VISTA Driver compatible) with SATA in IDE emulation mode (no RAID) and Memory at 800 and will also run 32 Bit Windows Server 2008 in RAID, 4GB RAM at 1066. Yes, it is being run as a server for training purposes, not commercially. Windows Server 2008 is compatible with certified Windows Vista drivers.

Rating + 5 the review

Pros: well, cant say it enough love the board its fast smooth and everything runs perfect, the bios is layed out very well the overclocking is very good everything infront of you right there with only a few sub menu's on the ram and so on,

Cons: well were you pop in your 24 pin is also the ide cable for your drives, it needs to be flipped but not a real issue

Other Thoughts: wwent to this from asus, with asus i couldnt overclock got nothin to run properly the "overclock" menu was all sorts of sub menus and i still never got anythign to work after hours and hours, i pop this board in and withn minutes everything is working to how i need it to, i would recomend this board to everyone, ive seen other reviews that it dont work, or DOA well when this board comes working, and we all know some boards and it happends with every manufacturer comes doa sometimes, but when this msi board works it really works!

Rating + 4 not bad overall

Pros: like the layout, the copper cooling tube/ fins are cool, great driver support from MSI

Cons: Video is junk at best- I see from other reviews that this is a recurring problem. I could only get 640 X 480 res with barely readable screens even with newest drivers. I had intended to get new PCI-E video card anyway- but not immediately and especially not from Best Buy! No choice- couldn't wait for exchange or to send card. New card works excellent

Other Thoughts: Otherwise, easy install, works great

Pros: Easy install. Drivers loaded very easy. MSI RMA service fantastic. Dual IDE controllers.

Cons: Not really a con, just a note. Got a lemon board from MSI. Video kept hanging up, then system would reset by itself. Spent about 15 minutes troubleshooting with MSI tech. RMA'd for replacement. New board working fine. Took about 3 months to get rebate. SATA connector hard to get to after video card installed.

Cons: Sharp Heatsink that reminded me of my ninja mini days

Other Thoughts: This is my first AMD build and i am really digging it. I plan on running this board till i find a good ddr3 using replacment.

Pros: Easy install, overclocks nicely. Have my 64 X2 5000+ running at 3.0GHz stable. I like the layout, others have mentioned the second IDE being poorly positioned but this isnt and issue for me as I use SATA exclusively now.

Cons: Manual is very spartan, if this was my first build I might have had to work harder to figure out whats what. There are a couple of LED's on the board that seem to stay on as long as the unit is receiving power - wont bother you if your case is enclosed but I have a side window in mine.

Other Thoughts: This is my first MSI board, I have always used ASUS in the past, but I have been dissapointed with them recently. So far I am impressed with the board, and I think I will use MSI again.

Rating + 5 Have to UPDATE my Prior Review

Pros: I have to come back here and UPDATE my prior Review.

After spending the weekend with MSI Support, as well as OCZ Support, it has been determined that my MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum was not having problems.

MSI was able to quickly resolve my issue with locked voltage settings by re-flashing the BIOS again.

OCZ determined most of my problems were caused by their Memory and have willingly issued an immediate RMA for the entire Set!

Newegg, as usual, as the Vendor here has been outstanding!

This Board is rock solid; it takes everything I've thrown at it through Gaming without any hiccups now that the OCZ issues have been resolved (I am using another set of OCZ RAM from a friend, with no problems).

Cons: The Onboard Audio is not as high quality as I had hoped. The built in "EAX" settings are kinda lame and no way to adjust them through the software.

MSI should include longer cables for Full Tower cases where the all the drives, HDD's included, mount on the TOP of the case rather then the bottom; as is the situation with my Thermaltake AMOR Case. I have a Floppy/Card Card Reader combo drive which mounts at the very top, MSI's provided floppy cable is too short to reach the floppy controller at the bottom of the Mobo; so I left my floppy unplugged, never use it anymore anyway.

I also had to rig a makeshift "extension" wire for the Card Reader to plug into the USB near the bottom of the Board.

Other Thoughts: I had been a very devote Asus fan, been using Asus Boards for about 10 years now.

I bought an MSI board this time, because Newegg recommended it, and they did not have an Asus Board listed that suited my needs, at the time.

I will now consider purchasing MSI products again in the future.

Pros: MSI makes great motherboards and well priced!
I have the AMD 940 oc to 3.6 and perfect stable. I also have used this motherboard with other AM2+ cpu's. I dont understand why yurrpp had those issues. This motherboard rocks and Im ordering another this week for my backup system.

Cons: The util that comes on the cd - the MSI core center will not work on the new AMD Phenom II, you must DL the new version off the NET and works fine. get V.2.0.5.1
and your good to go!

Other Thoughts: I was able to get a High oc on the Phenom II 940 (3.6) with a small bump to the vcore and I have 2 8800gt in SLI mode with 4 gigs of corsair xms II with LEDS. Works perfect!
and as a bonus I configured the onboard geforce 8 for PhysX
wow it dosnt get any better!
This is a awesome motherboard!!

Rating + 4 K9N2 Platinum

Pros: All copper heatsink makes for efficient cooling. Features 12v power connector on-board to help power graphic cards more efficiently. Two eSATA ports on the back enables you to put 2 external HDD in raid arrays which can come in handy for those who use the externals. 4 SATA ports are faced out so your big graphic card wont block them. Comes with dummy proof pwr switch, usb, etc. connectors. Very nice Heat plate on the back of the board.

Cons: If you plan on running full 8gb of ram it wont happen. If you run 2gb stick in each dimm then you will only be able to pull 7gb of ram out of it. Not that much of a big deal unless you are and extreme overclocker. Also you cannot use DDR2 1066 ram in this board unless you go for a quad-core. LED code can be a hassle. Unless you can remember them all, you will be going back to the manual everytime.

Other Thoughts: Arrived from Newegg with a broken heatsink clip which under the pressure of the others kind of torqued the heatsink into the back panel connectors causing most all of the back fins to bend over into themselves (bad for cooling). Newegg gave me 10 dollars store credit. I think that sucks because i paid decent money a board of this quality and your telling me my main board cooling is only worth 10 dollars? come on now. Anyway, some of the accessory connectors were loose and if put under any force what so ever would come off the board. Its so delicate its ridiculous. Comes equipped with two IDE slots and a FDD slot with the proper ribbon cables. only supports up to a phenom 9850 quad qore. LED's on the board could be a pro or con, depends on what you like.

Rating + 2 DRAM Voltage Settings LOCKED!

Pros: The board looks pretty.

Has nVidia Northbridge for SLI support on nVidia cards with an AMD CPU. Not many AMD CPU boards out there now with SLI support. That was one of the only reasons I bought it. Kept hearing good things about MSI and their boards.

Cons: Came shipped with BIOS that DOES NOT SUPPORT Phenom II processors! Buyer Beware, as many reviews here have already stated, if your board comes shipped with BIOS v3.2 or earlier, and you're using the Phenom II 940 BE; check that voltage setting quick and be prepared to FLASH! My Mobo auto defaulted the CPU to 1.8v right out of the box and had the CPU heated to 80c within a minute! All the CPU LED's flashed red!

FLASHED the BIOS to v3.4 and CPU stabilized. HOWEVER, this CPU requires 1.350v and MSI still will only support setting it at 1.325v!

It has no way to set the DRAM Voltage, nor any way to unlock this. I also bought the OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2x2g) DDR2 Pc28500/1066 set; and CPUz lists it is also running at 1.8v and it requires 2.1v! Motherboard will not allow this to be changed.

I can change the Mem Timings in the BIOS, this OCZ ram runs at 5.5.5.18... CPUz and WinXP shows it is running at 6400/800; with different timings; yet BIOS has correct settings. POST lists

Other Thoughts: I also had constant lockups and crashing to desktop once every 10 - 15 minutes, while running various games. Yet, latest 3dmark an PCmark all run fine. Removed my Creative X-Fi software and drivers and my lock ups and crashes stopped.

One reason I bought this board was because the only other board that Newegg had listed of decent quality with supported SLI for an AMD CPU, was an ASUS Board; and its Power Connector was in a bad spot for my Case; it was placed between the CPU socket and the heat pipe.

I am now thinking of RMA'ing this Board for Credit; because Newegg is now listing a different ASUS board, that ALSO supports SLI on the same chipset, and had the power connector in the right spot; and supports OC'ing!

This MSI board is very limited with its overclocking capabilities; and after contacting MSI Support about some of these issues, I was given the "run around" and told repeatedly that "MSI do not support overclock and no recommend doing this on MSI brand motherboard

Rating + 3 Don't Purchase on MIR

Pros: Very nice MOBO, no problems with my 9950 quad-core (unlocked), 4 GB memory, SATA (RAID) and IDE drives, everything works quite nicely. Overclocking is a breeze.

Cons: As with every mail in rebate I've ever sent in to NewEgg, no check ever shows up. No acknowledgment of receipt either. This is my 4th MIR that is DOA. Don't purchase if you expect to get the MIR.

Other Thoughts: Mail in rebates is the only place NewEgg drops the ball. I've been so happy with everything else (Over $3K in the last year) -- but the Mail In Rebates are nothing short of a scam.

Pros: This board taught me patience is a virtue, marriage sucks, and I hate being sober.
It also made me realize why I avoided MSI boards in the first place. I got the board as it had so many good reviews. I use anothere brand usually, but, thought I would give MSI one more shot.

Newegg is phenominal. I switched from a certain other PC parts supplier and have never looked back. Thanks Newegg!!!!

Cons: PCI E 2.0 main slot was dead....the 2nd slot worked. Everything else worked.....I guess. The factory voltage is way too much for the 940. In fact...it is too high even after the BIOS update.

Called their tech support 3 times and unfortunately got the same dope smoking tech. I gave him all the error codes the board was spitting out. He said they mean nothing. Just like when the "Check Engine" light comes on in your car....it means absolutely nothing. The book that came with my board did not have the LED codes for t-shooting. Had to go online to get the updated manual. It was clear as muddy water. Cleared CMOS a bunch. Never resolved the issue.

Sent board back for refund. Newegg should have just saved the cost of return shipping and gave me my money back. This MoBo would have been a good target for me to use with my .44 Desert Eagle....not much else.

Other Thoughts: I never had any good luck with MSI. It is probably just me, but, I build 20 -25 high end gaming/multi-media PC's a year for my customers.... I stay completely away from MSI due to the "bad luck" I have had with them.

Pros: Easy setup; Clear instructions for the novice builder; Worked right out of the box no problems, no driver issues, no problems with Vista Home Premium 64; Running Phenom II 940 with stock heat sink, paste and default settings at 90' F, so lots of room for over clocking; This is a build for a customer so I won't be maxing it out; Does include EXTRA rear USB and 1394 slot which not all the manufacturers have been including lately; Running 4 Gb of G Skill 1066 with good numbers, usually I run Corsair or Kingston but Newegg had a good deal atm so I figured I'd try it out and see how things went;

Cons: Only slight personal preference 4 of the 6 SATA connections point horizontally right at the hard drive bays, so depending on the size of case you have and number of drives you plan to use it can get a little tight in that area. Would rather have all the SATA connections pointing out. Again only a personal preference and I don't expect the buying to be messing around in there once I deliver.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm pleased with this board will probably use it again, maybe for myself. Usually use ASUS boards but had a couple give me problems recently and I wasn't impressed with ASUS support offices. To reviewers complaining about the LED's. Yes they are bright, but they're LED's they're gonna be bright also they're extremely efficient. I will admit though I don't know what they represent, I didn't try to look it up, and I don't care. The board works as advertised, runs stable and looks to be a good platform for both a novice user and an experienced user looking to go to the max.

Rating + 5 Good MoBo from MSI, again.

Pros: Easy upgrade for an aging setup. Worked great right out of the box. The two IDE slots provide a few more years for the peripherals, and there's a place for everything that will replace them. Went with Newegg recommended CPU/memory.

Cons: Very, very bright LED's stay on even when the unit is shut down. An unnecessary and very un-green feature. No point for it.

Other Thoughts: Undocumented speed-bump during set up: You gotta have XP/SP2 or newer or it never gets past initial OS boot. Create a slip-streamed disk from your XP/SP1 or older if you need to get around this small irritation.

Rating + 4 NICE BOARD

Pros: MSI, usually makes decent products, this MB is no exception. No problems with hooking up any of the computers devices/peripherals and the board detected everything from first boot. The manuals provide good info. Make sure you pay attention to memory speed to the CPU: Memory 1066MHz can only be used with AM2+ CPUs.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Usually the supplied CD with software from board manufacturers is really just bloatware, but thats not the case from MSI. The LiveUpdate software has good functionality and keeps your board up to date with the latest version of the board's drivers. It's easy to use and for some who are not familiar with driver downloads or are just afraid, it keeps everything simple and keeps your computer running smooth. For computer builders who want to give their customers a reliable board and reliable online support give them a MSI board, you can't go wrong.

Pros: Great connections, LEDs are awesome, the extra IDE port was the selling point

Cons: Had to send the first one in for RMA. The RAM slots didn't work correctly and there were other numerous little issues with it. Seems as though the only IDE cable that worked was the one that came with it.

Other Thoughts: First time I've ever bought MSI over Asus and I'll never do it again. Too much hassle and I ended up sending my RAM back which wasn't the problem in the first place. I hope this mobo holds up as long as my 5 year old Asus that took everything I threw at it.

Rating + 4 SLI DOES WORK WITH OTHER CARDS

Pros: Contrary to what has been written by other owners, this board does work with SLI with GeForce cards other than the 8400 and 8500 level cards. I am running SLI with 2 8600GTs perfectly. Downloading the drivers from the website and pretending the CDs that come with the mobo do not exist is generally a good idea - which I learned 5 builds and 4 brands ago.

More fan control jumpers than are found on many other mobos.

Cons: The floppy connector is parallel to and close to the second PCI-E x16 card. So if you want to use an internal floppy drive (and you may need to in order to use RAID or update the BIOS) be sure to plug it in before you install a second GPU.

The SATA cables that come with the mobo are straight and not the type with right angle plugs. This may be a problem if you plan to use the rear angled SATA ports. BUT they are the type with the metal clips and do not depend on just the plastic.

The USB/Firewire bracket that comes with the mobo may not work unless you install the OS first and then plug it in. This is a problem because my PSU is at the bottom of the case and makes going back in to plug additional wires a problem.

Other Thoughts: Phenom Quad 9750 with standard heat sink / cooler at standard settings because with my games overclocking makes less difference than switching to the 64 bit OS.
8 GB DDR2 6400
2x Asus 512 MB 8600GT in SLI
Vista Ultimate x64 on WD Raptor 74 with WD SATA 500 as the second drive.
Antec Nine Hundred with all the fans set to highest setting. Plan to adapt top and rear fans so they can be controlled by the board.

Rating + 4 Perfect for the Budget Gamer

Pros: This board offers a great layout for the most part. The pipe cooling system is a nice touch for my rig. The color coding is nice for intallation. Ample room for my video and sound cards. The external ports include SATA ports, which make my external drive lightning fast, and six channel audio which makes for a great sound card alternative before I purchased one. This board is worth every penny that I paid for it.

Cons: Internal SATA ports are awkwardly placed and the colored lights on the inside took away from the red LED theme I had going on.

The pipe cooling system made for a tight fit with my graphics card.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this motherboard is worth the price. I would recommend it to any price minded builder.

My Rig:
AMD Athlon X2 6000+ Clocked to 3.210 Ghz.
8 Gigabytes 1066 DDR2 Kingston HyperX Ram.
K9N2 SLI Platinum Mainboard.
2x NVidia Geforce 8800gt GPU's

Pros: Lot of flexibility if you want to cross over your IDE drives and then move up to SATA.
AM2+ is compatible to future AM3 processors for upgradability.
It was relatively easy to put together.

Cons: Onboard video is low end.
Video port is DVI-D and not compatible to D-Sub/DB15 converters.
SLI set up only works with GeForce8400/8500 cards.

Other Thoughts: Not all CPU's allow memory to work at 1066mhz.
The manual is useless when describing the BIOS menus.
MSI forums are better sources of information.

Pros: Well made, easy connection of front panel connectors

Cons: Lay out of the board itself. 4 of the 6 SATA ports are unmarked and hard to get to after board is installed. MSI doesn't seem to like rounded ide or floppy cable or SATA cables with angled edges

Other Thoughts: I wasn't able to use me Thermaltake Blue Orb cooler due to the copper heatsinks on the board, so now I need to buy yet another heatsink for my cpu

Rating + 2 trouble with Phenom II 940 ...

Pros: Worked perfectly with my AMD 9850BE and four 2Gb sticks of Corsair -- even ran at 1066. It seemed to run pretty cool. The build quality seemed good.

Cons: I had a problem when I upgraded to the AMD Phenom II 940. Even with the latest bios, at least some of these MSI boards default to vcore = 1.8V for that proc. This is a dangerously high voltage, but you can race into the bios and change it downward. I'm sure MSI will fix this in a later rev.

Other Thoughts: Some here haven't seen the 940 Vcore problem (or don't know they have it), but have a look at the MSI forums - search "K9N2 SLI platinum - another problem w/ Phenom II " My CPU shot up to 80C before I realized it was running at 1.8v. I sold this MB rather than RMA because I already removed the UPC for the rebate. Lesson: avoid rebated motherboards or wait the full 30 days of test and burn in before removing the UPC if the rebate allows it.

Rating + 4 Pretty functional some poor placement

Pros: Pretty and functional, what I need is working and the setup was easy. Just follow the manual (pretty good) and all is well. This is my first mobo (first barebone) ever and following the instructions had me boot it up (no errors) without ever having to manually configure it again. nice. Also, Kubuntu 9.04 works with everything I have right out of the box. The nvidias nForce x64 version 7 drivers also get everything working for Windows Server 2008 x64. nice again :)

Cons: The instructions for flashing the bios was written by a kindergartner. You need a floppy drive also to get ready. No options for placing the bios files on a USB stick/CD or other media has me a bit worried. The placement of the "Front panel connectors" are too far from the average case connection. The "Serial ATA Connectors" can get severely blocked by a huge graphics card like the 7900 GTX (7950 GX2)

Other Thoughts: I give this mobo 4 stars because despite its cons, it has so much to offer and has met my needs well. My advice is get a case that has long wiring connections and all should be well. Also, be aware of your graphics card. If its a monster sized card you may knock out using some of the Serial ATA connectors.

Pros: It was offered for sale by Newegg.

Cons: This board flat out is horrible. I have tried both AMD 5400+ BE and PhenomII 940 BE with frequent BSOD's. If you are seriously looking at this board, pay close attention to the Memory voltages. It only allows up to 1.9 volts anything higher will make the board very unstable. I have tried both Crucial and OCZ. Also, I am on my 6th board. If your board goes bad, expect to get a refurbished board. Think long and hard if you want to throw away money buying this piece of junk, buy an ASUS instead.

Rating + 2 Dissapointed

Pros: Good layout. Extra IDE connectors. An AMD board with SLI

Cons: First MSI bought and it has so many problems. Memory was messing up so I sent that in for an RMA through Newegg, which was most likely a mistake. The 2nd RAM module is dead. I also can't have more than 2 IDE hard drives plugged in at the same time or the system runs extremely slow. Also had a problem whereby if I changed ANYTHING in the BIOS it would cause a BSOD when attempting to boot to Vista. Caused so many headaches resulting in an RMA. About to send it back, wish I would've gone with Asus like I always do.

Other Thoughts: I really don't know how this board runs normally, but I hope the board that is sent back to me is alright. I was very leary about going with MSI when I placed the order and now I'm kicking myself for it. I've never had so many problems. Would not recommend this board as it seems many others are having problems out of the box too. I was going to wait until after I got the RMA back to write this review, but after reading other reviews, I hope this will help anyone else in their decision on this board.

Rating + 1 At the end of my rope...

Pros: Feature-rich. Judging from the specs, a PC with this board should be capable of some impressive feats.

Cons: Absurd defect rate. Ridiculous.

Other Thoughts: Buyer beware: Normally, I don't write reviews about defective products (it happens sometimes, can't be helped), however under the circumstances I feel I must. I noticed a defect in my board after Newegg's 30-day return policy, so I've been dealing with MSI. Four months and five boards later, I have yet to get one that works. I've seen everything from boards that hang during POST to boards that are physically warped. MSI has outright refused to give me a new board or a refund. If you get one that works on the first shot, you're good to go. But if you get one that doesn't, you're in for a long ride.

Rating + 5 Awesome for the price.

Pros: I upgraded from the MSI K9N SLI Platinum to this board in November 2008 to allow myself room for expansion to PCI-E 2.0 and Socket AM2+. Contrary to Yeoj's review, I haven't had any negative issues with this board - it does exactly what I want it to do and performs well. The BIOS is easy to navigate and allows for overclocking your CPU, though you can also use MSI's software to overclock your CPU/GPU through your OS as well. The package includes optional risers that make it very easy to make all your motherboard connections, as you connect your wires to the risers then plug the risers into the board - more manufacturers should do this. The incuded 7.1 HD audio support is nice although somewhat common these days, and there are plenty of SATA and USB connections for the typical user. The spacing of slots is well-planned, as there is plenty of space for adding all but the largest aftermarket CPU heatsink.

Cons: Although performance problems are nonexistent for me, it could have used one or two more PCI slots since the heatsinks on high-end graphics cards (e.g. GeForce GTX 280, etc.) are so wide that you'll end up losing a slot. Also, if you plan on running Windows XP Professional 64-bit edition, the drivers are not included in the package; you'll need to get them from MSI's website, and the last time I checked the link for their 64-bit drivers it led to the 32-bit installer (I believe the 64-bit and 32-bit driver download links are reversed). However, please note that both 32- and 64-bit Vista drivers are included on disk in the box. Also, MSI's overclocking tool has nothing on Nvidia's nTune overclocking add-on for their drivers.

Other Thoughts: This board is a good buy for scalability and stability on a budget build. Although I'll admit there are better boards out there, this one has some good bang for your buck. Again, I haven't had any problems with this board on my current system configuration:

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 280 1GB
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+
4GB OCZ Spec Ops Edition PC6400/DDR2 800 (4x1GB)
Windows XP Professional 64-bit Edition
Maxtor SATAII/300 320GB Primary
Maxtor SATAII/300 500GB Secondary

Rating + 3 Decent Motherboard BUT...

Pros: Does what it says, came with everything and installed easily enough.

Cons: Since taking it out of the box, this motherboard has stability issues. In the BIOS I cannot overclock the CPU at all. I use their A.I feature and manual overclocking but nothing happens. Also BSOD's occur frequently with the MB. I have reformatted at least 5 times and updating all drivers and flashed BIOS but it still continues.

Other Thoughts: Another review had the same problem with me, anyone know how to fix this issue? Also can someone point me to a phone line or email where I can call Tech Support from MSI. They have a phone number but I think it's only for Notebook tech support.

Rating + 4 Great Motherbard!!

Pros: This is my 4th system, first AMD build. Works great at first install, no problems.

Cons: Runs hot on playing video games (COD5), Motherboard temperature goes around 70-71 Deg C. System not OC'd. Hate those side SATA connectors. Out of 6 SATA, only 4 of them working.

Other Thoughts: System Specs:
MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum
AMD Phenom 9850 2.5Ghz BE

Rating + 4 Works good with Phenom II 940

Pros: Cheap SLI mobo that works with Phenom II 940. Supplied drivers work fine. Seems most 780 sli boards are about 100 bucks more than this 750, but I don't believe you benefit much from having both x16 slots run that fast.

Cons: 2 things, not major. First, had to update bios for new cpu, but you can't just put bios on the same floppy you boot from for some reason. It just made it kinda a pain in the neck cause the bios had to be on a separate FAT disk. Second thing, a GTX280 will cover a couple of the SATA ports. I don't think cards this big were around when this motherboard came out, so they probably had no way of knowing, but it is something to keep in mind.

Other Thoughts: Good enough motherboard for all the newest hardware. I thought the bios was easy to navigate and full of most any function you could think of. I did encounter that when a SD card is in my card reader, that it wants to boot from it and I have to change my bios boot order every time. Easy fix, I just don't leave SD cards in the reader and everything is fine.

Rating + 1 Consistantly Unreliable

Pros: None to speak of

Cons: design and performance of this board is problematic . . video connectors, memory compatibility, BIOS instability, IDE interface, placement of connectors - all these items were problems from the first day I received this MB . .problems have been solved but the performance from boot to boot is never stable . .this is run without any raid or other "exotic" setup . .no overclocking . .DOS drivers fail to load which makes this MB DOS incompatible

Other Thoughts: Worst performing motherboard I have owned in 10 years

Rating + 5 So far so good! :)

Pros: Went in nice and easy. Really like the board setup, layout and features. I like the ability to upgrade the BIOS and use an AM3 processor in the future. I'm not doing that now, but options are always nice.

Cons: For some reason they decided to put some of the SATA ports sideways, my guess is for cable management, but its just kind of annoying.

Other Thoughts: Get a good enough PSU. 500 watt min, especially running a Quad Core. (I dont know how, but i currently have a 450Watt running it, without the VGA power connector hooked up and an 8600GT)

Rating + 3 Works for me, but...

Pros: Board has run without any glitches (save the one mentioned below), plenty of ports laid out adequately for my needs.

Cons: One of the IDE ports was DOA. For what I have in the machine, it's not worth sending it back. (I had to replace the drive anyway because it would not fit behind my case's cover, and the replacement is SATA.) Still, I have to rate the board down for this. Dead port on a brand-new board is disappointing.

Also, if you are putting a lot of stuff on this board, the port layout could become problematic, though my setup was fine.

Other Thoughts: Documentation for the audio connectors could have been better, but since 50% of that problem lies with my case's similar lack of documentation, not going to count it as a true con. If either of them had been clearer getting the front ports to work wouldn't have been such a pain.

Rating + 4 Ignore the Review below this one

Pros: Has 4 IDE and 6 SATA channels available for simultaneous use

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: The guy who posted below me obviously has very little knowlege of either computers or the english language or both. MSI does NOT use the 10 available ports as a selling point. Just about every motherboard on the market these days has the same 6 SATA and 4 IDE ports available just like this board and they almost all operate the same. He claimed to have several 1.5TB drives attached to this board but had none of them in raid arrays. What kind of newbie has that much drive space and doesnt use raid arrays for backup and or speed purposes? Sounds like just another newbie with more money than sense. You shoulda bought yourself a Dell kiddo and leave the computer building to the pros.

Rating + 4 Almost a perfect board

Pros: the "circupipe technology" is great, keeps the board nice and cool. the bios are nice and easy to work with, i didn't really need to use the manual, it was pretty self explanatory. it has 2 ide connectors for older harddrives and disk drives. plenty of space for aftermarket heatsinks. lots of lights on the boards to tell whats working.

Cons: the lights on the board are extremely bright. they overpower the led's on the fans in my antec 900. but that isnt the reason why i gave it 4 eggs. the onboard video card on this board has a "dvi-d" output. that means it is digital output only, no vga cable because that is analog. you can't get a 3 dollar adapter going from dvi to vga either, because it is still analog. the only way to make it work is to buy a 300 dollar switch box ... or buy a video card. im waiting for my 9800 grx+ to get here, so im no too worried, but for the past month i havent been able to use my computer because of this. hopefully this gives other people a little insight to this problem before they buy this board.

Other Thoughts: msi k9n2 sli platinum
amd 9850 oc'd to 2.9 ghz 38 celcius idle 44 celcius under load. air cooled.
evga 9800gtx+
4ghz of ocz fatality gaming ram

Rating + 1 Not doing what I bought it for.

Pros: None for what I bought it for.

Cons: I don't have fancy graphics cards or use raid. I just needed a board with at least 6 SATA ports and 2 IDE ports to plug in 10 drives on the board. Called before ordering that no problem connecting all 10. Got it, plugged in 6 sata drives and only 4 were visible. Called MSI tech support, who stated there shouldn't be a problem using all ports on the board; however, they've never tested using 10 drives with several 1.5TB drives and believed this config might be a little too much for this board. They've got to be kidding. Updated to latest bios as suggested using a bootable floppy disk. (Only way) Bios update didn't solve the problem, and no drives connected to sata port 5 and 6 are recognized. Apparently, per one of the reviewer here, two ports are only active when in raid mode. (He must have talked to more competent tech then me) This limitation should have been noted on their specs instead of deceptively using the total sata and ide ports as one of their major selling points

Other Thoughts: Back to square one. I need to find and order another board that actually does what MSI deceptively claimed could do and send this one back. Although I didn't think tech support was that knowledgeable and didn't really help, didn't have to wait long on the phone to talk to them.

Rating + 5 UPDATE TO REVIEW

Pros: The board performs great, IF you overcome the "sticky" or "gooey" problem on the bottom of the board.

Cons: My board arrived with goo on the bottom that was very sticky. I am a tech of 16 years... I determined that it was flux from a satuated flux cleaning tank. I used either acetone or laquer thinner to break it down (with an acid brush) BEFORE any CPU or memory was installed. APPLY LIBERALLY and with plenty of paper towels under the board (stand it up and apply from top to bottom). A little hassle, but worth it in the end. I believe the goo is the cause of board failure.

Other Thoughts: MSI needs to pay more attention to quality control! If they did the job right the first time, the boards would not be failing.... AND YES, A BOARD CAN FAIL BY NOT CLEANING THE FLUX OFF OF IT.

Rating + 5 Interesting Problem Troubleshot

Pros: The nvidia 750a chipset is a winner! MSI has finally made a comeback - (I used MSI with 486 builds and then dropped them due to quality drop in P-Class boards). Beautiful board cosmetically and in function. 16 years as a tech, I would recommend this board.

Cons: MSI nvidia drivers stink! Had to troubleshoot the constant explorer.exe problem on shutdown and determined it had to be the nvidia drivers... downloaded them from nvidia and now the board works great! The problem drove me nuts and this is the solution for XP builds.

Other Thoughts: MSI needs to fix their driver disk, as the drivers were the entire problem. My system has 7 hard drives in it (4 are USB internal) and this board has excellent performance! DOWNLOAD THE NVIDIA DRIVERS FROM THE NVIDIA SITE!

Rating + 3 Love Hate Relationship

Pros: I love this board. I searched threw many motherboards to find one very specific. It had everything I wanted...

Cons: That is had everything I wanted until it died. Like other reviews in here I woke up one morning to turn my PC on and find it dead. Cause of Death Faulty Capcitors located near the PCI slots.

Other Thoughts: You would think with this board being released in April MSI may have done some better testing or issued a recall on their product to replace them with something that won't die so fast. It saddens me at the loss of my motherboard. Even saddens me more because I never got a chance to even overclock anything on it...But like I said its a love hate relationship, you'll love the board till it goes out, and then hate that it went out.

Pros: Ran smoothly, was easy to install, WAS reliable.

Cons: Dead after 3 months. Turned my PC on one morning, and it shut off during boot. Tried to turn it on again and it wouldn't - LED's on the board were still on, but when power is pressed, i see a tiny blue spark near one of my PCI slots, and my case LEDs turn on for a nanosecond, but no fans, no boot. I checked my power supply (put a known working one in) but still no-go. It's dead, and since it's past the 30 day warranty, I cannot return for a replacement.

Other Thoughts: Should have a 36 month warranty on computer parts like everyone else, Newegg. Very disappointing.

Rating + 5 Really nice

Pros: Overall board layout. Different colored activity LEDs. On board power, reset and clear CMOS buttons. Plenty of back panel and on board inputs including eSATA. Lots of overclocking options and some can be set in Windows with the included utility. Four on board case fan connectors.

Cons: Only 8x/8x running SLI. CPU fan must be of the SMART type to be automatically controlled through the BIOS. Fan1 connector has only three speed settings and is not temp controlled. Fans 2 through 4 are direct 12 volt connections.

Other Thoughts: I just got my system back together with a new power supply too so I haven't got to put it through its paces. Two of my case fans have a three speed switch but I'm going to get a drive bay mounted fan speed controller to control the fan noise.

Pros: The board was awesome. Initially was able to overclock the board pretty well. I was able to get my AMD 5400 BE up to 3.4 on liquid and it was stable.

Cons: DO NOT EVER USE MSI LIVE UPDATE. I had a decent board at first, however when I installed MSI LIVE UPDATE it downloaded and installed a new bios and I think it installed it incorrectly. I can no longer overclock my processor and now have frequent BSOD's

Other Thoughts: MSI needs to fix their LIVE Update, they fried my board.
now I have to RMA it.

Rating + 5 advice for new people

Pros: great board with no flaws and I have used various video cards to include the MSI 260, 8800 gt for crysis testing. Using a 9950 and reaper 1066 ram without a hitch. Raidmax 700 quantum with smildon case. I have advised MSI that this board handles 140 watt 9950s. can't wait to try a rapid fire next! Hybrid sli works great with MSI GTX 260.

Cons: IDE slot location but I use all sata so it is irrelvant. IDE just adds wait states to the machine. Go 100% sata you won't regret it. Using Samsung Lightscribe model and 500 gb WD which screams. Also using Rosewill media adaptor with no issues for my Sony A350.

Other Thoughts: The guys who said they had corrupt windows are telling on themselves. You pull drivers before switching boards or else cry later. I switch between boards often using nvidia chipsets or all amd chipsets. Otherwise plan for a complete reload. Those that can't load the oS probably have a tiny power supply for that new hot video card. Read the PSU stats on your video cards for min wattage. Enjoy this power saving hybrid sli board.

Rating + 5 my review MSI k9n2 sli plat

Pros: well, love the colored led's on this thing, helps you know status if something goes wrong with your components, the ram is placed a good distance from the cpu so you got space for a larger heatsink if you want love it, its fast runnin the phenom 9950 BB edition and runs Great, love the features there totaly awsome,

Cons: well there is only 1 con to this motherboard... were you plug in your 24pin connector for the power, Right next to it is your i think its called IDE cable for your dvd or cd drives, it sits on the inside and the 24pin on the outside, well its a pretty stupid thing i got to say, because its all tangled for me really, it should be your ide or w/e on the outside and then your 24pin on the inside, otherwise its just a bit annoying to me

Other Thoughts: would love to have more colorful led's on it :P

This user purchased this item from Newegg

Rating + 5 I reviewed this less than a month ago, heres a new review

Pros: I was formerly DualCoreDueller, now am QuadCoreDueller. Stupid naming convention but it fits. On to the board.

I have recently upgraded all the internals, now I am weighing in with:
Phenom 9950BE @ 3.4ghz @ 1.38v, 2x2gb Mushkin ddr2 1162 @ 2.2v, and an XfX 9800GTX+ XXX.

I am having major difficulty when it comes to overclocking the gtx, but from what I can gather so far, it is driver related, non hardware related.

Anyways.

The sheer amount of voltage adjustments, automatic ddr timing, and cpu adjustments make this board stand out from what else I have seen.

The power, reset, and clear cmos buttons have come in so so handy, as I have an open air case (antec skeleton), bad timing or cpu speed, power off, touch button turn on, load last user settings and your good.

That would be my favorite part about it.

I plan on snagging anohter GTX+ if I can get this driver issue fixed.

Cons: I have heard rumors about the 750 chipset not being able to properly sync with the video cards. I am still a little shaky when it comes to this, and I continue to scour the web for the appropriate answer, but, I think I will only be able to tell once Ihave it hooked up and I select hybrid sli.

The only real con I have about this, is the memory. Most memory manufacturers put stickers on the heatsink (i am talking mushkin in this case, so not most, but mushkin does). Well, I would really have liked the dimm slots to be reversed in direction, flipped 180. Stickers are a pain to remove from a heatsink, and the way it is facing, the stickers face the front of the case. This is fully viewable and my only thought that could be considered a con.

Other Thoughts: I like to have a sticker free, setup, and with the dimm slots positioned, the memory I have have stickers that face outwards.

Call me picky, I know, but it's just my personal preference.

I now have faith with MSI and will continue watching their product line for future mid-high end builds.

Rating + 3 4 Reds and No Video

Pros: I can not really give pros on the board, that is not to jinx this board tho. I had Issues with my CPU that resulted in being able to turn on the Computer but no Video out AT ALL. Thankfully is easy to refund this board. Never had to refund anything before this one. and i have bought several things from Newegg.

Cons: Before buying i was concerned about something , found on a few reviews that the backside of this was sticky, ( mine was not) heard that 2 caught fire (Mine did not) also that raid was bad and that some of the sata ports were faulty. ( ? ) Thats just something to think about before buying.

Also if you buy for a reg AM2 cpu, MAKE SURE its compatible with this board. Mine was not. Which was a large frustration after having to wait 11 days for ups to ship it. (try not to order during high traffic times aka christmas eve) This board is picky about the voltage of your am2 cpu's. Not sure if same goes for am2+.. But before i buy i would consider looking that up.

Other Thoughts: Its was less headache for me to buy another mobo and have this one refunded, By the time Truck got here my refund date for the CPU was past. I dont blame any of the newegg/ups people for that tho.. i was the one that ordered day before xmas. If i ever get a am2+ Cpu this board would probably do me well.

Make sure you check your compatibility, and do your research before you buy.

Rating + 3 Good, but --

Pros: -Rated to handle 125w CPU's (I do not use one yet though)
-All solid capacitors
-Onboard video is available should I ever need it
-Fanless design for northbridge, etc.
-SLI
-Nice features
-Works great with Linux

Cons: -After only about 4 or 5 months of ownership, the onboard ethernet controller is starting to fail. It drops packets like crazy and web browsing is painfully slow (I tested the same connection with a different computer and it was fine) I had to install a Realtek PCI ethernet card that I had lying around to get my network running the way it should again. This is the reason I gave this motherboard 3 eggs instead of 5.

Other Thoughts: If you purchase this board, make sure you have an extra ethernet card lying around, just in case. Good thing they're pretty cheap.

Also, if you use a Linux distro that has you configure your network interfaces manually (such as Gentoo), be aware that this motherboard's ethernet likes to call itself net.eth1 instead of net.eth0. This confused me quite a bit at first.

Pros: I got worried because i got this without looking to see if it would be compatible with my phenom 9750 125w but lucky me msi had made new drivers that supported it. I havent had a single problem except....

Cons: north bridge likes to run hot, speed fan clocked it at 125 celcius, thats hot, but not a big problem.

Other Thoughts: i build my comp at my cousins house in MA, and i live in South Carolina, so i had to ship it, big mistake, got it today in the mail with the primary pci-e slot bent and 7 pins bent out, so now i get the fun of trying to get money from the post office, and yes i insured it. But, when i do get my money, im going to replace the broken one with another of these mother boards.

Pros: Started right and no hitches yet. Not a lot to say beyond the specs -- hybrid SLI, lots of USB and SATA, legacy PCI and floppy slots, digital audio, etc. The manual lists pin outs for most connectors.

Cons: None so far aside from the length of my MSI N9600GT video card. The card overlaps, but does not touch, the chipset heatsink. It also cramps up SATA ports 5 and 6.

Other Thoughts: My first MSI board and I am pleased so far.
