Good Budget Board
Pros: Boots. Inexpensive. Everything works. All of the components listed below worked from the start. Nothing DOA. I first installed XP Pro and then Windows 7 a few months later. XP ran great and 7 hums along just fine. This is an "always on" machine and so far, so good. The whole build was right at $300 (plus a copy of Win 7 later).
Cons: For the price , none. PCI Express x16 2.0 would be nice but no entry-level boards have 2.0. The bios is a bit antiquated but it's a $45 board. I didn't expect anything more.
Other Thoughts: I used this board to build my wife a basic office machine. She uses it for web surfing, video streaming, social networking stuff, office apps, digital pics, and iTunes. It's been running for about six months with no crashes or freezes. And that's all I can expect for a sub-$50 mobo.
Specs: *Windows 7 *MSI K9N6PGM2-V motherboard *Athlon 64 X2 5050e Brisbane 2.6GHz AM2 45W Dual-Core *MSI N8400GS-TD512 GeForce 8400 GS 512MB video card *PNY OPTIMA 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Ram *Western Digital Caviar Blue WD1600AAJS 160GB HD *Rosewill R909SL Case with 350W Power Supply

Great board for the $$$...
Pros: Worked on 1st try, no hassles. 6150SE integrated video is way better than Intel GMA 950 IGP, ATi Radeon Express 200 IGP, & Chrome 9 Via IGPs. Supports AM2, AM2+, AM3 CPU's. 7.1 Sound 10/100 ethernet, 2 SATA headers, 1 IDE, plenty of USB ports. Installed 2GB DDR2 800, Athlon 64 X2 5000 AM2+, Logisys 480W max power supply in an existing Antec case. with existing IDE DVD ROM and existing IDE 80 GB hard disk. Re-installed Windows XP Home edition, updated to SP3 w/ current express updates, and REACTIVATED Windows with absolutely no problems. (Thought reactivation would be an issue because of so many new hardware components, but it was not an issue.) Very fast considering the price. Doubt one could buy an HP/DELL/ etc... with this performance/price ratio. Runs older games like Q3 Arena, Halo, Doom 3, Deal or No Deal, Wheel of Fortune Deluxe excellent. Let Doom 3 scan hardware and presto 800x600 on High settings. Wow! This is a killer setup for cheap LAN party. Low $$$ ? Buy this 1!
Cons: Packaging states Geforce 7 series IGP, device manager says 6150SE IGP. Small gripe, but a bit confusing. Took an egg away from score.
Other Thoughts: 1755 marks on 3dMark03 if anyone cares. PCI-e x 16 slot is nice to add more current video. Makes a great upgrade path to a Quad-core for the future. Up and running, including disassemby of old board etc... in less than an hour (not including updating Windows etc...). Suprisingly fast. Plan on upgrading my entire family's PC's with this setup (I'm not paying for it though :) ). Highly recomended, especially for the price. Doom 3 runs very nice and eventhough it is an older game, it is still a benchmark this motherboard passes easily. The memory is running dual-channel and that should give a 128 bit memory interface for the onboard video/IGP. Living large for cheap.... Only thing really holding back out of the box performance is the video, which is not bad in my opinion. Add a $60.00 +/- video card to this, and its GOLDEN! Have 2 other MSI system with a very similar MOBO, X2 4000 AM2 CPU, 1GB DDR2 533 D/C, Via Chrome 9 IGP (which is not very good by the way), 2 years strong

Pros: Great board with plenty of features for the price
Cons: None really.
Other Thoughts: There is no digital surround-sound output. I bought it for a media PC and this would have been nice. It wasn't mentioned in the specs. It does have internal SPDIF out for an HDMI video card, but only analog surround output. So I'll have to buy a sound card now. I guess I can't complain for the price of the board. I didn't use the on-board video as i wanted dedicated video memory.

These always work for me!
Pros: MSI makes a great board. Have bought 5 of these in the last year and they have all been flawless. Just bolt it in and it works!
Cons: umm... A decal would be cool but for the price I can live without one.
Other Thoughts: Just remember that if you have to factory RMA these things they are sent to Canada. For those of us in the USA there are extra fees for shipping. Never had to send one in but it is something one should be aware of.

Not the greatest MB in the world
Pros: Its Cheap, It booted right up and runs at 31 degrees C with a Artic Alpine 64 Pro cpu coooler. AMD 3 2.7GH cpu.
Cons: Needs to have 2 IDE ports and needs 2 more SATA ports. Had to install an old SIL 680 IDE Controller card in the first PCI slot to run the 2 DVD burners. The only reason I didn't give it 5 eggs
Other Thoughts: I got this MB to up date my wifes Old eMachine. It did the job just like I wanted so if you are looking for a good cheap MB you won't make a mistake with it.

Awesome Preformence!
Pros: Price! At the price point for this board is the best. I built a rig for under $300. I got a nvidia 8800 gt alpha dog edition gfx card, amd Athlon dual core, and 2gb of ram. The best performance ever. Awesome for an family and some what high-end rig.
Cons: None except for not having a second pcie x16 port and not having hybrid sli.
Other Thoughts: Awesome for a buget rig!

Good, stable platform
Pros: Built about 10 systems. Always works out of the box. Good for home or office use.
Cons: Only 2 SATA but there are workarounds if you need more
Other Thoughts: Fried one board - but my fault took a chance on cheap power supply.

Solid
Pros: Built about 20+ Systems using this board over the last year or so. It is a bit skimpy on features, but it is only a $50 budget board. I use MSI for 90% of my systems, reliable and like the 3 yr parts/2 yrs labor warranty
Cons: Would like more SATA ports, but don't want to pay the Xtra $10 for a budget build systems
Other Thoughts: If you are not sure what you need (CPU etc, ). Read the motherboard manual at the MSI website. It's free and online for downloading

Wouldn't Buy Another One
Pros: I've nothing but problems with this board since the day I took it outta the box! I've had various driver issues, a Windows crash within the first week of a clean install, now the onboard sound chip has failed. What a piece of junk. I used to like MSI, but it's back to Biostar and Gigabyte for me...
Cons: Drivers, dead sound chip, crashes, etc., etc., etc.
Other Thoughts: This board is using an AMD tripple core processor, and a 1-Gig Radeon Graphics card, which I will be removing and placing into a Motherboard that actually works!

Dont Know...Returned
Pros: NONE
Cons: kinda new to computers so I read ad and it says it would except CPU TYPE..Athlon 64x2.. and my DDR2 800....processor wouldnt fit.. ironeous information on ad & box, misleading me (computer basic)sent t back and just recieved another motherboard ($20 more of course). Going to pay to have this one put in.
Other Thoughts: 2nd 1 better work because if it dont, will be buying 3rd one (of course $20 more expensive) and was told by telephone help that this one (gigabyte ma74gm-s2)ga-) would definately work...we'll see tonight

Revised Review to No Luck!
Pros: Price and rebate! Dual Core Center monitoring software and Live Update.
Cons: Still-Only two sata ports!
Other Thoughts: The other day I wrote a "negative" review about this board, and would like to update that review. I have since flashed and updated the BIOS (Version 9.6, dated 8/14/09) and did a CLEAN FRESH install of the OS. Still using the same hardware as follows: AMD 4400+ (2.3 ghz dual core) 160 WD HDD, 4 GB Mushkin ram, 1 sata optical drive, 430 W Thermaltake PSU. No longer getting/having errors. Wish it had more sata ports. I had XP on system build, and know have 64-bit Vista Home Basic running without any flaws. I like the fact that I can write reviews on products not purchased from Newegg. Thanks Newegg.

No Luck
Pros: Price and rebate!
Cons: Works when it wants to. Only two sata ports.
Other Thoughts: Really not sure where to begin. Did not buy this board from Newegg, but felt compelled to write a review. First time user of an MSI product. Built a budget system with 32-bit XP Home, Amd 4400+ (2.3 ghz), 160 GB WD drive, 4 GB mushkin ram and a 1 sata optical drive. Started to receive multiple application errors. Infamous BLUE screen of death. Updated and flashed the BIOS. No more BLUE screen of death after BIOS update, but still getting countless application errors. Getting errors upon boot up and after system has been on for awhile. Only reason I bought this was because of the rebate that was being offered at local retailer.

needs to be RMAes
Pros: the working things work
Cons: I cannot run two mem sticks no matter what type I tried
Other Thoughts: I really wished that I could run the dual memory on this thing I am going to have to RMA this if I can find where the RMA area is so I can request it . over all it is a half decent board

Works when broken
Pros: Cheap. And when peices break off it still works.
Cons: If you have a big Video card, for instance the Nvidia 8800, it will break off different connections on the motherboard. On mine it broke off the sata port for my hard drive. Also the onboard video slot doesn't work, no matter how many different drivers you install off the nvidia website or the cd your given.
Other Thoughts: If you are gonna use a card similar to the size of the 8400 or 7300 nvidia cards this motherboard is fine. Other than that spend the extra money, after buying this I have to anyway.

Design Flaw
Pros: Price was excellent!
Cons: I bought this board because I have a MicroATX case and needed a PCI-E slot for my Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS which takes up the space of two slots and the length brings it right over the two SATA jacks on the motherboard. I had to plug the SATA cables in first and then when I clicked in the video card the height was too low and it bent the SATA jacks at nearly a 45 degree angle. I am total surprised that a pin didn't break and thereby rendering my SATA drives inoperable. MSI needs to re-design and move the SATA connectors on the MOBO. Note: If you have a single-wide PCI Express card it wont be an issue.

Does NOT fit as advertised
Pros: CHeapo
Cons: I got this board because I had an old AMD Athlon 64 chip, which SHOULD fit. Even the box says, "Designed for AMD Phenom/Athlon/Sempron Processors"
MSI normally makes pretty solid boards, I am VERY disappointed that the advertised compatibility of the board is, in fact, not present.

AWESOME!!!!
Pros: Great for small home PC's!!!! Reliable and Cheap. Everything went in without a hitch! Love the fact that this mainboard is ready for AM3 (not really found in lower-end boards) All over awesome board I currently have two computers running on this Mainboard!
Cons: Has only room for 4GB of ram...In my opinion 4GB is just the start..

Efficient and cheap
Pros: Does everything I need it to do.Used it for a rebuild after old computer died.Very happy for the most part.
Cons: Bought a 4890 and that card covers the only 2 sata slots so you cannot use them at all. Can't crossfire but its only a Matx board.
Other Thoughts: Very happy with the MSI Live update for bios updates.Everything runs smooth and fast with my x2 5600.Definately worth the price as long as you don't have a long graphics card.

Audio software has seizures!
Pros: Price, stability... works great for the price!
Cons: The audio drivers are terrible. I plug in headphones into the front panel jack and the audio software asks me what I plugged in! Audio software isn't great.
Other Thoughts: This is the second board of this exact model that exhibited this strange audio problem. Maybe it's just me? I don't overclock so I can't comment on that aspect. But other than the weird audio software thing, this board is very stable and works great! For the price it can't be beat!

Both where DOA
Pros: None
Cons: I order the first one due to price and have used MSI before without any problems. This time I got to bad boards back to back. Customer was complaining about the time it was taking so I had to go and buy another board local. First time that I have ever had a problem with MSI. May have been just bad luck
Other Thoughts: Will keep buying MSI from NewEgg

not bad
Pros: cheap, runs good, built in video if your not a must have the newest thing out person.
Cons: if you look on the motherboard the Sata connectors are behind and to the side of the of the PCI-E slot. this makes putting in one of the big card really hard. it takes up the pci slot next to the pci-e slot. Also when i put in a 9800gtx card the system had a hard time seeing the card even with the system setting set to pci-e and the internal.
Other Thoughts: i am using this system to run tests on harddrives, dvd-rm/writers, pci cards and sound cards. works great. i need to find a low profile sata cable so i can plug in the biggers cards for testing. my bios version is 9.4 dated 2-17-09 on their website is shows their newest version is 1.4

Pros: Inexpensive.
Cons: nForce chipset drivers that came with this board (which are latest rev from MSI) are very unstable. Clean XP SP3 install with just nForce Ethernet and chipset drivers caused lock ups. I have built similar PCs with same other hardware (different motherboard) with no issues. Manual is also pretty light on detail compared with other manufacturers.
Other Thoughts: Only has two SATA ports.

Pros: Solid, reliable, fast booting, decent integrated video and audio, very affordable

MSI
Pros: This is a pretty good motherboard for those building on a budget. If you are a linux user, Compiz Fusion works well and transitions are nice with the NVIDIA chipset.
Cons: I wish that it had DVI output and one more place for a fan to be connected.

Great, fast cheap.
Pros: Cheap, fast, works with my Phenom 9500 and Ati HD 4670.
Cons: The IDE port is really awkward to use, but that's not much of a worry unless you have an IDE drive, also, PCI express 1.0 and only 2 sata ports.
Other Thoughts: Great board overall, I will buy from MSI from now on. It replaced an ASUS board which died.

Empty promises
Pros: Great board when they work
Cons: First board was ran long enough to load xp pro sp3, then would not post after reboot. Returned for refund and had to order another - talked to a rep through chat and he promised me a refund on faster shipping to get the new board to me - NEVER happened. This dead board costed me $13.25 more than is should have.

MSI + AMD = HAPPINESS
Pros: DDR 800, PCI-E Slot, Very Fast Boot Time, Lots of Capacitors(I think that is a good thing), color coded pin connections that matched my cases pin connectors (sweet), EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT!
Cons: Not really any, except DDR 800 defaulted to DDR 400, but set it manually in the bios and the Board and RAM are both happy and lightning fast.
Other Thoughts: MSI is a new choice of motherboards for me... This board is a beautiful piece of equipment. Windows states onboard video is 512mb of 6150nVidia. Plays GUILD WARS on HIGH QUALITY, Battlefield 2 on Mediums to Low with no lag on either game.. I may order an 8800gt or HD3850 for more graphic power.

Pros: Great Budget board. Not many features but it is a budget board. I had trouble with the raid setup and called MSI and they walked me through the whole thing, i was really surprised. Way to go MSI. Newegg rocks too.
Cons: no cons just that not many features but it is budget board.

Pros: good motherboard that is very easy to use. I put two HDD's in RAID1 with it and Vista recognized the drivers off of the CD once i pointed it to the right folder.
Cons: needs more RAM slots and more SATA jacks. also, after a few reboots, the RAID setup screen began saying that the array was degraded; it's still working though.
Other Thoughts: there are definitely fancier motherboards out there, but this one is great at this price point.

Cons: Nothing yet

Replacement board for emachine
Pros: * Easy install * Works well as a replacement in eMachine * Faster than stock emachine board that burned up
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Got it as a replacement for a burned out eMachine board and it is working great. User states that system is now even faster than it used to be with the same processor. Gotta like that! :)

Solid Foundation
Pros: As always MSI did not fail me.This board fired up the first time and has not stopped. Clear instructions, easy setup. Works good with Ubuntu-64 bit
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Running Ubuntu Linux-64bit smoothly. I am running this as a media PC and HD video runs smooth with built-in vid card. I jammed this in a In-Win case with an AMD64 5050e, 2 gig A-Data DDR2800, Lite-On DVD-ROM and WD 500 HD running 24/7.

you get what you get
Pros: good price for a decent mobo.
Cons: not the best. has couple of issues here and there especially with the software MSI provides you with. do NOT install the softwares they provide you like the msi live update~~
Other Thoughts: you get what you get...can't expect superb out of a $50 mobo can you?

vanilla board
Pros: It nicely laid out, it works great, the software is good, and inexpensive.
Cons: No option to overclock, very limited bios options, and only 2 sata ports
Other Thoughts: I like this board, it is great for my daughter, unfortunately, i also got it for my nephew with the intention of giving a mild overclock to a x2 2300(a overclocker friendly chip), but this is not to be because of the limited options.

Works great!!!
Pros: It works great. I hooked it up with an AMD athlon x2 4200 and 2 GB of ram. I love that there is 256 MB onboard video ram. Everything connected up and is running smooth. Right price. Newegg is awesome and so is MSI.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Should of bought two of these.

Good & Inexpensive
Pros: Inexpensive and easy to set up. I have purchased 5 or 6 of these and have been using them in conjunction with the AMD Athlon X2 BE-2300 Brisbane 1.9GHz 45W Dual-Core Processor and the Western Digital Caviar Blue WD800JD 80GB SATA Hard Drive to build new computers in old ATX cases for a small private school for a basic classroom computer. I have been splitting a a pack of 2 X 1GB RAM and the cost is ultra cheap.
Cons: Could use another IDE so the hard drives and DVD/CD drives could be reused in the gawdawful DELL 2XXX series case set up.
Other Thoughts: Only had to RMA 1 board and it was simply a lockdown problem on the CPU...newegg csr svc was wonderful as usual. This makes a terrific classroom or basic office rebulid for less that $140 per machine.

Very Disappointing
Pros: none
Cons: board died within a week, has serious issues with onboard video... very disappointed, first time using MSI, had heard they don't last long and now I have to agree... guess thats what you get at this price point though...

Post Below me about the board not working
Pros: Don't own
Cons: Wouldn't know.
Other Thoughts: To the post below me about this board not working, the problem is your power supply. The minimum power for the 9600GT is 400W according to PNYs website, and usually you want to be a little bit above the minimum, especially the more power you are using (overclocking, multiple hard drives or CD/DVD drives, fans....)
Since you tested it without the video card ( I imagine you unplugged the power from it) you may of just had a bad board this time, but dont expect a stable system with a 380w PSU with the card you are running.

Almost Works
Pros: Well laid out. Supports everything I need for an HTPC.
Cons: The first one is being sent back. I installed the board and at first got no post. Then after a restart I got my video card to post (PNY 9600GT Bios message) but the system refused to go any further. I thought this might be an issue with my video card, took it out.... and no post again. Cleared the Cmos and tried again. This time it posted with MASSIVE video corruption. Still I tried to recover the machine doing everything I can, new bios, turn off the non-essentials, and at some point got it to boot. After 3-4 minutes in linux (mythbuntu), it hardlocks, and I am stuck finding the main power switch.
Other Thoughts: After I get the second one, I will post back. This was bought locally just in case this happened (sorry newegg, I just don't like to wait).
The rest of the rig: This mobo AMD X2 5600 (Brisbane Core) Antec fusion case with Antec Earthwatts 380 PS PNY 9600GT TT Blue orb cpu cooler Samsung DVD Burner (x2) 1TB Samsung harddrive.

Pros: Easy Setup. Up and running very quickly! Good board for the price.
Cons: None at all
Other Thoughts: This is my third build with parts from NewEgg. Have ordered lots of stuff and so far I have never had a problem. I spend a lot of time reading customer reviews and going by the "law of averages"(previous reviews).

Great board for price
Pros: I purchased this board to replace my original board that burned out... Wasn't looking for a great board just an inexpensive one... This turned out to be both... I am purchasing another one for my lil brothers computer... Great board for a cheap computer build.
Cons: I didn't have any cons for it... It has worked great in my computer for about 4-5 months now.
Other Thoughts: Great board... I would recommend it for anyone...

Did the job I needed it to
Pros: Small, tight board with decent onboard sound and video. This was a build for my mom who does word processing, light picture editing and web surfing. Easy install, enough headers for her USB devices.
Cons: none really for the cost. The only thing that could have been different is an DVI connector instead of a VGA one, but I knew that when I bought it.

Another *piece* from MSI
Pros: Atleast it posted w/ half the ram!
Cons: I initially had great luck with MSi boards 10 years ago. Since, its been all downhill. Last 3 have been junk (2 of them no post).
I decided to give it a shot again. Purchased this for a budget mATX build. Go figure, this one is junk too. Left RAM slot is dead. Have 2x2 GSkill pc6400. Each stick works fine by itself in the right RAM slot, but it wont work with both sticks installed. RMA and ordering something else.

Hey....I'm the first!
Pros: Everything you need for a budget build. Onboard sound is awesome ,CD drivers are current and a great hardware utiliy on it.
Cons: Mediocre video but you already know that before you buy.Onboard video is for basic computing.
Other Thoughts: As advertised......and it works.
