Stable but inadequate
Pros: Worked without a hitch for over a year. Easy to flash the bios.
Cons: The x16 slot is not compatible with an 8800GT (Tested and confirmed with newest bios). There is only one SATA II (3.0) slot which can't be used as a boot partition, the rest are SATA I (1.5). Also, the floppy connector is at the very bottom of the board, making it a difficult reach.
Other Thoughts: The board may be stable, but due to bad design it simply isn't worth your money. Do some research before you buy.

Great for Windows Home Server
Pros: Installs easy. GB ethernet seems fast. Good HD access. Great Windows Home Server board.
Cons: No integrated video. No on-board FireWire. Integrated video would be great for Windows Home Server. Used an old video card instead. Installed my own FW card.
Other Thoughts: Used this for a Windows Home Server. Removed all the drives from my old Terastation and installed them on this board. Much better experience - faster than old Teratstation.

Good, medium priced board
Pros: Dual P-ATA connectors (becoming more uncommon these days in lower end boards). Good built in audio, good built in LAN. eSATA connector Good, simple bios with overclocking features (as with all Asus boards). Asus O-connector (makes it super easy to connect front panel switches and LEDs).
Cons: VIA chipset isnt' the fastest out there (compared to nforce). Board layout has some problems... see other thought section.
Other Thoughts: The 24-pin power connector is southwest of the CPU socket, which means your power supply cables get pretty close to your fan, and they cover your CPU tunnel in the side of most cases. Also, the floppy connector is at the very bottom of the board, pretty dumb place to put it. There are only three fan connectors, and two of them are right next to one another (other Asus boards have them scattered, allowing for cleaner wire installation).
Overall, this board is a good buy, especially because it holds up to Asus's reputation for making stable boards.

NICE!
Pros: Great board for the price. Like the PCI and the Dual IDE. 4 DIMM Slots. Good.
Cons: Fan connectors are WAY on the other side...no way for a rear fan to connect unless you have a long cable.
Other Thoughts: Got this thing working with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ and an ATi Radeon HD 2600XT so not bad at all. The only thing is SATA II is nonbootable and the fan connectors. except for that Great Board.

Good Stable Board
Pros: Good stability. I liked this board enough to buy a second one to replace a nVxxxa board. I noticed there is no other circuitry within close proximity of the sound chip on the board, so the sound is clear without interference.
Cons: Doesn't have as many overclocking features as some other boards, limited to FSB. No options for memory overclocking, just the option to change voltages.

Great Board for Cheap
Pros: Great features for an inexpensive board. Room to spare with Cooler Master 64 and large video card.
Cons: Color could have been better (brown?), and only 2 sata ports are available for RAID, although there are more sata ports on the board. Ports for mobo power in a stupid location far from PS.
Other Thoughts: Got up and running in no time, after figuring out how to access the RAID menu (trust your monitor, not what the manual says, it is a typo). Running X2 5200, Sapphire x1900xtx, 2gb Corsair XMS, 2x Raptor 10,000 RPM 74gb in RAID 0, 550w Antec HE PS, everything works fine.

Full featured but Poor Execution
Pros: Certified for and runs Vista. No problems installing and running XP Pro or Vista Ultimate 32; drivers are fine. VIA chipsets still work well. Full complement of PCI, PATA, etcetera connectors, all of which I needed.
Cons: Miserable board layout. The worst part is placing the PCI-E x16 slot right next to the PCI slots. The second worst is the orientation of the PATA connectors. Floppy connector is a stretch in a larger case. Serial port dead, after finding a connector/bracket for the COM header. Weak USB - neither a flash drive nor a small external drive would work, even though recognized. Lots of annoying background system noise in the sound system, at least until I found that it seemed to be feedback through the microphone input and muted it.
Other Thoughts: This was my second attempt to get a satisfactory XP/Vista dual boot system running. (First was a Biostar NF4UAM2G.) I thought I could live with the poor layout after I managed packing all my components and cabling into the tight slot and connector area (couldn't have done done it if I wasn't water-cooling my 8800), but the dead serial port and nonfunctional USB ports doomed this board for me. I've always been satisfied with ASUS, but this thing is an ill-conceived dud.

Good But With A Couple Issues
Pros: I give it a four. Lots a features. 4 IDE channel. Gigabyte LAN. 4 DIMM Slots.
Cons: I had to return becuase of a compatability issue with ANTEC power supplys. I was able to use but couldn't get the CPU fan to run. See Google for more information.
A little crowded around the expansion slots. Board components could be arranged better.
If you run Linux you need to download the network driver from Via.
Documentation and website a little weak but not terrible.

Good, Stable Motherboard
Pros: This is a good MB for the price. There is no system static with the onboard sound. The Atansic Gigabyte ethernet works great. I have this MB paired with a X2 4200 CPU. This MB is really quick and stable. I will definitely use this board again.
Cons: This MB would become unstable if FSB was over 210Mhz. Does not overclock as well as some. I think the chipset gets too hot when you try to overclock it too far, but not really a con. A slight overclock is fine for me.
Other Thoughts: I've liked all VIA chipset systems I've built in the past. Seems to be more stable and reliable than the NVidia.

lovin it
Pros: this board worked right out of the box... have not had any issues with it at all... only once have i had to open the case to reset the bios, but that was because i was messing around with overclocking
Cons: none. it does what i want it to do and handles newer games quite well with a AMD Athlon 64 3800+ and a sapphire x1600xt
Other Thoughts: it was slightly more expensive when i bought it... but i must have got one of the good batches based on some of the other reviews i read

good mobo
Pros: great for price. has the right things for new builders(like me). first time i build a pc, and it works great.
Cons: none really. the ONLY thing really is it only has 2 3pin power connectors. wish it had more, especialy if your case has alot of fans.
Other Thoughts: great for first time builders.

Great Motherboard
Pros: Great motherboard for the common user. Bios a breeze to use, and has so far supported everything that I throw at it
Cons: Has problems with "Not found any disk!!" error sometimes, but does not affect boot or overall usage at all
Other Thoughts: Overall, this is a great value. For under $100, this mobo is a steal

good mobo
Pros: this is a great mobo in my opinon. absolutely no problems building pc from scratch. asus are top notch in my book. bios is really easy to work with. and if your not very pc savy the manual is pretty good.

Great Board
Pros: Asus quality. I bought this board for a cheap system build when my old socket A MB died and I was going to use it for a little while until I could afford something better but I haven't had any problems with this board whatsoever so I'm keeping it for now.
Cons: None to speak of really. Over-clocking isn't the greatest but it's perfect for people that don't really care about over-clocking.
Other Thoughts: System: Asus M2V, AMD Athlon64 3800+ 2.4GHz OC'd to 2.58GHz, Kingston HyperX DDR2 800MHz 512x2, Maxtor 200GB ATA133, WD 80GB ATA100, Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum, ATI X1600PRO 512MB.

Nice Board.
Pros: Nice board, Sata Raid on it, Nice Price. Also Has 2 IDE headers.
Cons: Watch out about ram! I bought Wintec AMPX Ram and it did not work on the comp. It would not boot up unless I cleared the bios. I called ASUS and they said that asus boards only run well with corsair or kingston ram. And they' re n'vidia boards are even more picky
Other Thoughts: as long as you know that you will only have a certain type of ram, you will be fine.

Pros: asus always makes a good product. this one is no exception, it works perfectly.
Cons: my last asus board had a built-in wireless adapter; i guess that is the only downside to this one, but you could always find one that has it available =]

Good Board
Pros: Was easy to set up and has been a good upgrade to SATA and dual core processing. Handles all my computing needs very well.
Cons: Will not boot from SATA 3. I wish both SATA 3 connections were inside the case, as I don't need one on the back panel.

vista64 and this board
Pros: vista 64 premium rates the performance of the hard drives transfer rate at 5.8, .1 higher than the motherboard i replaced which advertised sata2. asus advertised that this board supports sata2 and it does. the manual must be older than the updated via chipset because it states sata1. you can't load a boot-up operating system to the marval chipset it is only for data transfer. i have had absolutely no problems w/drivers or vista64 premium and this board.also this board fully supports the maximum memory for a bfg 8800 gts 640mb video card which in display advanced settings shows 2431mb.total available memory,640mb dedicated memory and 1791mb shared system memory. two other boards i used would only support the dedicated card memory. but you have to install at least 4gb of system memory to reach the high.the via sata raid works great as to it's reputation. system build in other thoughts.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: system asus m2v, retail amd duel core 5200,4gb matched corsair xms 6400,2 seagate 320gb hard drives unjumpered to 3gbs transfer rate on via sata raid, bfg 8800 gts 640mb video card,500 watt psu,dvd-rom,dvd-rw,antec nsk-4400 mini tower. vista performance ratings...cpu 5.1, memory 5.9, graphics 5.9, gaming graphics 5.9, disc data transfer rate 5.8; this system is fast, stable and runs cool. cpu temp at full load 128f and system temp 117f at full load.

Horrible board
Pros: It's cheap, has two IDE ports.
Cons: Board was DOA; ASUS was absolutely zero help. Board refused to POST, all attempts at helping it along failed miserably. IDE controller spun my hard drives until they failed.
Other Thoughts: Apparently, a floppy drive is a MUST with this board...mine wouldn't even turn on until I had a floppy drive plugged in. I got an RMA from newegg the next day...the thing just isn't worth the effort.

Chipset Overheats and Lockups
Pros: Easy to set up.
Cons: I had an AMD 64 3800+ and all was well aside from the irregular lockups. Now I have upgraded to an AMD X2 6000+ and the Motherboard is overheating. Games start to lag and such and when you check Asus Probe you see that the motherboard temp is 55+ degrees C. This is with two 80mm fans and standart cooling otherwise.

Pros: Board looked like it would be great for a somewhat cheap but effective gaming machine with the available expansion slots, PCIE x16 and PCIE x1 slots.
Cons: Board was dead on arrival. It supplied power to all my components (i.e. CPU fan, graphics card/fan), but would not boot up and give a system beep. It also would not output any display and would not give power to the CD-ROM if the IDE cable was connected (although if you disconnected the IDE cable, the CD-ROM could be opened and closed).
Other Thoughts: I must have gotten a bad board, as it seems a few others like myself have. I wish I had read the reviews a little more extensively before making a purchase. Good customer service with NewEgg and ASUS for being able to return this MB though, so props to them.

chip set overheats
Pros: Cheap seemed nice and had everything I needed
Cons: see other thoughts
Other Thoughts: well after trying to play almost any of my video games, 5-10 minutes into it the monitor would basically just shut off and the sound would keep going. researched this problem and someone else was having the same problem with almost the same setup as me. turned out the chip set on the motherboard was overheating.

Pros: decent price, I didnt do any research on it other then read the reviews here and it fit my budget build fine. amd x2 64 3800+ windsor, g.skill ddr2 800 pc2 6400 2gig, ati radeon x1950 pro 512mb video memory.
Cons: I had to update the bios (which was easy to do) because the bios it came with didnt read my memory that I purchased at its default timings.. it worked regardless either way.

solid, reliable, economical board
Pros: I have found this board to be reliable and quite stable. Originally I used it with XP but then upgraded to vista home premium a few months ago.
After the vista install I had problems with the realtek drivers. In fact they simply weren't recognized by vista, which would invariably proceed to install its own generic driver on boot-up.
Then, I updated the bios and voila, the realtek drivers were recognized and I haven't had any problems since then.
Anyway, good, reliable board for the money.
Cons: Took a while for Asus to provide drivers for vista, but then I've found that it's taken a long time for a lot of vendors to update for vista.

Not a bad motherboard for the price
Pros: For a cheap board, a lot of options. Seems to work fine, no problem so far. Had to reinstall Windows XP, but no problems. Just got to see how long it lasts. System is used for work, and is on >12hrs daily.
Cons: None, so far. Always boot up with "no disks found" but found it was because no disks was connected to the Marvell Sata II controller. Once that is disabled in Bios, it's fine.
Other Thoughts: Using it with (new) x2 3800, 2 x 1GB Corsair XMS ram, Ultra case w/700W power supply and (old) WD Raptor 150GB, WD 120GB Sata I disks and ATI x1300 w/512MB. It was a rebuilt from old + new parts to replace a Shuttle XPC that died.

1 Disappointment
Pros: Works. Bios seems good. Enough connectors for everything I wanted to connect.
Cons: They don't tell you in the product description that you can't BOOT off of the SATA3 controller. In fact it is only a SIDENOTE on page 6 (or near there) of the actual booklet that comes with it!
Other Thoughts: I'm running Ubuntu (Dapper) on it. I have an IDE drive I boot off of, a SATA drive I use for swap etc. and another IDE drive I use for backup. The Ubuntu installer is kind of buggy and I couldn't set up the partitions the way I wanted on certain disks. I ended up needing to unplug the backup-IDE-drive in order to get things set up correctly. I don't know if this was a motherboard-issue.
The bios also complains "Not found: Any disk!" but then boots fine so I don't know what that's about? But I've been running for ~1 year without trouble so it's an odd message when I'm booting but it doesn't appear to have any adverse affects.

Good board for "family" use
Pros: This board is a surprising steal. The best surprise I had while building the system for my neighbor was that Windows XP (Home) didn't even need SATA drivers! It saw the SATA2 drive as a normal drive in the system. As for a 64-bit XP Pro install, I'm sure I'd probably need it then but 64-bit hasn't been perfected yet anyway. I own the x64 version of XP Pro (as well as x86) and my current board gave me so much grief during install when reading the floppy. It was such a great surprise to know you could install Windows on this thing with greater speed than an ATA drive but without the headache of invalid SATA drivers.
Cons: It's not a performance board. I saw the review for the individual that installed Vista Ultimate x64 and I have to say, "What were you thinking?" Of course that won't work. You must purchase the latest board you can get your hands on ($160 and up) to get good Vista drivers, especially 64-bit ones. As for printer drivers for something other than a Dell printer, good luck with that. Not that I don't feel your pain, but seriously think about it before you boot up a 64-bit install. Check your drivers online for the boards components / model.

Pros: OK.. First thing to know.. This board has NO trouble in vista. I don't know what crack other reviewer are on. I have this board running Vista Ultimate on two identically configured machines. Get 2g a ram and QQ.
Cons: VIA SATA host controller only supports SATA 1.5Gps vs SATA II (actually on the board, but not bootable) The realtek audio manager in Vista leaves a lot to be desired.
Other Thoughts: I liked it enough to have two. The inboard audio is good enough and have never experienced a crack or pop in any game I've tried. That includes BF2 + BF2142.

Use for XP ONLY - NOT FOR VISTA!
Pros: This works great with XP Professional with SP2. No problems at all!
Cons: DOESN'T WORK WELL with Vista Ultimate-64 edition. Realtek sound drivers initially work UNTIL you put board to sleep or reboot. Then you lose sound. You have to uninstall/reload sound drivers. Then sound only works until you reboot. Also, VIA PCI Bridge drivers disappear and then auto-reload when starting up the system. And do NOT attempt to set up sleep options. You get HidKbdUser STOP error message continually. Finally, NO Marvell SATA Controller driver available. Attempting to install one screws board totally and O/S will not work! Have to go back to use last known config to get rid of this problem.
Other Thoughts: I have been on the phone with both Microsoft and Asus for the past two months with NO resolution. I emailed Realtek and received NO RESPONSE AT ALL! THAT was terrible! I tried every version of their driver from R1.55 through R1.65 and the same results keep happening.

Meh
Pros: * It works. . . Kind of. * Decent amount of DDR slots * Good number of PCI slots. * PCI Express x16.
Cons: * The network card wasn't supported under Ubuntu Edgy (fixed in Feisty) * No serial port * The audio broke after a while * I haven't been able to interface with my floppy drive * I haven't been able to get my tuner card working with it (PCI contacts are tricky on this board)
Other Thoughts: I think I just got a defective board. I like Asus, and I'd recommend them, but my particular board is the second faulty board in a row that I've received (the previous one was from a different company, though).

Great budget board
Pros: Board works great, I love the bios' safety precautions when overclocking. Keeps things from getting out of hand. I found it to be a great budget board for the AM2 processors. Has plenty of connectors.
Cons: Don't buy this for SLI because obviously... there is only 1 PCIE x16 slot. Also, there is no firewire support, although that typically isn't necessary with USB 2.0.
Other Thoughts: I bought this board to tie me over until I upgraded to SLI... which I did, but I've had no problems with it.

Descent MB with issues with integrated network card
Pros: The M2V-K8T890 is a stable board although not great for overclocking if you leave it as is it will do its job.
Cons: The biggest issue is after a few month the integrated network has started to cause problems and is unstable to be used as a gateway to the net, had to replace it with an add-on card. Secondary issue is when you add another hard drive it loses track of the OS-carrier and you need to go back into BIOS and manually select the HD with OS on it.
Other Thoughts: For the Price the M2V is a descent choice just be ready to add a network card.

Good little performer
Pros: Stable little board, I have used VIA chipsets since the KT133.
Cons: Audio gets distorted in 4 channel mode.
Other Thoughts: Need to test the SPDIF and SATA 3.0

Good motherboard, USB issues
Pros: This motherboard has 4 PCI slots and a PCI express slot, which allows me to keep my older PCI cards around. It also has plenty of connections and plenty of clearance for CPU fans.
Cons: Plugging in some USB devices causes the system to reboot; PCI slots are underpowered, and running a PCI video card and RAID card with my PCI Express graphics card caused the system to lock up (although this was probably primarily the video card's fault for not having on-board power).
Other Thoughts: Spend a little bit more and buy another Asus AM2 motherboard.

So sorry, i really wanted this to work right
Pros: Had the features I wanted, and had good luck with ASUS in the past.
Cons: During the build, had several lockups and sudden shutdowns. After 7 weeks, would always shutdown during boot. Replaced mobo with another brand, and all is good
Other Thoughts: After looking at all of the mobo reviews, I noticed that this board and the M2V-TVM had the most negative reviews of any mobos. If I would have listened to the reviewers, especially those that had owned this board for more than a month, I would have saved myself a lot of headaches. Many thanks to Newegg for their great service.

SuSE 10.2 loves this
Pros: Everything works as advertised. Fast with dual core and 1 GB of RAM. Simple integration of anything I have used with this board. No issues at all.
Cons: Separately sourced drivers for the LAN built in. Get them from VIA's website.
Other Thoughts: If you had a fairly decent system under Linux before you really don't notice the power of this setup until you load it down. Blender is real smooth - no stalls like I'm used to. Very smooth with a humble 3800+ x2 processor.

M2V mb
Pros: Easy to setup, recognized my cpu and memory speeds on the first boot. I used Kingston Model KVR800D2N5/1G 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) and AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (65W) Windsor 2.0GHz AM2 Model ADO3800CUBOX.
Cons: Not much of a con but like others have mentioned the case fan connectors on the mb are on the lower right hand corner so you need long wires for the rear fan.
Other Thoughts: Another good board from ASUS bought from newegg, i love this site.

Stable, works great.
Pros: cheap, stable and reliable. G.Skill 2gb ddr2 ram works perfect with this motherboard. I got an AMDx2 3800+.
Cons: layout could have been better
Other Thoughts: none.

Works Great, poor layout
Pros: 4 PCI slots
Cons: Connectors are very poorly placed. Power has to travel around the cpu, floppy is below the pci slots, chassis fan connectors are only in the front bottom.
Other Thoughts: I'm using a 2.6.17 linux kernel so everything except for the lan is autodetected (should be included in the .18 and greater kernels). Search for drivers as the ones from ASUS are not up to date and will only work with an older kernel. I can't comment on sound though as I don't intend on using it.

Mother of Mother Boards
Pros: Overall, I love this mother board. The fact that it has so much, for such a low price is outstanding. It's worked flawlessly with all my other hardware, (HD, DVD drive, video capture card, 12in1 media card reader, HIS Video card, etc.) and it has a ton of room for expansion! It's not to big, so it doesn't crowd up anything. Overall a great mother board for the price!
Cons: No firewire outlet! I just wish it came with one, but it doesn't. That's gonna be a separate purchase.
Other Thoughts: You pretty much can't get a better quality item then this without spending a whole lot more. It does just about everything, except dual-core, and that's not something I really need. Great buy! Thanks NewEgg!

Nice Basic Board
Pros: As usual, ASUS gets the job done. I purchased this board for a new Windows XP 64-bit gaming machine and used an Opteron 2.2GHz processor (partially because the AMD64 X2 Windsors were sold out); everything worked out nicely.
Cons: None that I can imagine.

Rock Solid Stable
Pros: I've built several PC's with this board and it is an excellent performer, clean layout, HD Audio, and sooo stable VIA chipset. Many of the Nvidia systems I have built come back to haunt me, sure they're faster, but unstable as hell, flaky drivers, and a couple have literally burned up. I've been using ASUS VIA motherboards since the KT133 series and always no problems. Highly Recommended!!
Cons: No Firewire, Could use some more SATA connectors.

Outstanding
Pros: I am using athlon 64X2 3800 and Gskill DDR2 1 gig of ram. For graphic work in photoshop all the rendering is almost instant. This is a very stable platform, and I would recomend this board to anyone. I like the cool and quiet AMD offers with this system. Running all business applications on the most part it runs at 50% of CPU requirments
Cons: Windows XP Pro did not have a network driver, and had to load in drivers from the CD. No big deal
Other Thoughts: I plan to keep this motherboard for some time. It is WIndows Vista compatible and with a few extra PCI cards it will be ready for Vista Ultra

performs well enough
Pros: Works well enough, plenty of options to do things. Bought it for it's abundance of PCI slots.
Cons: Quite possibly the worse layout I've encountered on a board yet. All the stuff you might want to get to on the board is at the far end of the board. The CD-IN header (ended up not using it for lack of a long enough cable), floppy header (also dropped since it's legacy anyway), The fast SATA port is way at the back near the back panel, and the non-CPU motherboard fan headers are also way on the other side of the board. I like not having slack on my cables, but I'd prefer to do it with cable ties and not by stretching the cables every which way.
Other Thoughts: Upgrade your BIOS soon as you get it. It resolved an issue where the machine would recognize the SATA drives on a cold boot, but took forever and failed on warm boots.

!?
Pros: did the job and it runs great with no problems. i'm using a generic psu, mediocre ram, and a 7600GT. i love the little adapter thing for the power sw, reset sw, and usb plugs, makes it so much easier to put together compared to the dfi lanparty board i got.
Cons: i dont think there's a spot for my rear exhaust fan! i can't find a spot to plug it in on the mobo, it's driving me nuts. please message me on this thing if u kno what to do.
Other Thoughts: my feet are aching btw

Pros: Very nice look works perfect. No problems. Pci express slot is very good to have.
Cons: Maybe have Duel pci-express 16 slots so you can run SLi graphics cards sometime if someone wants to upgrade.
Other Thoughts: Am2 is is my choice of a socket, next is 939.

Not (yet) ready for RHEL 4/Centos 4 linux
Pros: ECC RAM support -- great for server applications that demand the extra margin of safety!
Cons: For *REDHAT* (RHEL 4.0 update 4) Linux? Regrettably, just about nothing works out of the box. The newer VIA Southbridges (VT8237A and VT8251) aren't recognized, so you can't install from SATA at all. (And IDE/PATA is painfully slow because the kernel defaults to 'PIO' transfer mode.) The unheard of 'Attansic' gigabit-LAN chipset isn't recognized either. Both VIA and Attansic offer kernel source drivers/patches to get this hardware running in Linux. Unfortunately, that's a lot of extra work (for the user/administrator), and you need an old PCI 10/100 LAN card (or another PC to get the drivers.)
Other Thoughts: I wanted this board for Redhat Linux (I need REDHAT or a REDHAT-compatible O/S due to vendor-software requirement.) The past Socket939 Via K8T800-Pro/K8T890 & VT8237 chipsets were solid performers (though lacking in modern features like SATA2) under Linux -- supported in every major distribution.
Unfortunately, this motherboard has too many problems out of the box. Eventually, LAN and VT8237A/8251 support will be put into Redhat Enterprise 4, but it's just not there today. So as of today, this motherboard is not recommended for Linux users.
Keep in mind, if you use a newer Linux (like Gentoo, SuSE, Ubuntu, etc.), you'll have an easier time: 2.6.16 and later will take care of the Southbridge support. (You'll still have to separately take care of the LAN and Marvell SATA controller.) Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 is frozen at kernel 2.6.9, so RHEL users are totally reliant on Redhat's kernel-maintenance team to backport new drivers.

Sata 2 support is a disappointment
Pros: Was easy to set up. Extenal Sata port. First motherboard where bolth front usb ports worked. Easy to overclock with.
Cons: VERY limited no Sata 2 support. The motherboad supports it but the South Bridge (VIA VT8237A) has many problems with it.
I too had extreamly slow (2 MBps) write speeds in linux.
Only supports DDR2 ram voltages of upto 1.95. Enless you buy ram for low voltage most ddr2 ram uses 2.0 Volts.
Other Thoughts: I bought this MOBO because I had used asus in the past and they have been stabe and had a long life. I expect no less out of this MOBO how ever I think it's feture set is less the average.

Overall good board
Pros: Easy setup, no problems with an X2 3800+ CPU and DDR2 800 RAM. Great board for an upgrade from an older system w/ PATA hard drives and PCI addons. Also allows for future upgrades to SATA.
Cons: Chassis fan connectors mounted too far from the back of the case to install a rear case fan without an extension, or a fan with a 4-pin molex plug.
Other Thoughts: BIOS was not set to boot to CD over HDD by default, but no biggy.

great board for the price
Pros: easy configuration, updating the bios was a cinch, and with more than one way to update and recover them. loved the 4 pci ports and the external SATA connector. this is my first build and i am very pleased. and of course, newegg was fantastic with shipping time and pricing.
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: raid setup for me was very easy, i recommend a raid setup if you can shell out the extra cash.

Some Initial Thoughts
Pros: My first impressions of this board are good. The board was easy to setup and I haven't had any hardware troubles yet. There are 4 internal USB headers which is nice, and an internal 10-pin serial port header for IR sensor or LCD display. The BIOS has a fan control setting that can be used to set the startup fan and the temperature to begin increasnig the speed. The fan can be set low enough that it turns off, but at 1000 RPMS it is virtually silent. I am running the system with Linux OS. Sound support is in the current 2.6.17 kernel and basic on-board hardware is working well except for LAN which requires driers from Asus website.
Cons: Asus website is slow and can be painfull to navigate. Havn't been able to find much info about this board anywhere else. The Linux LAN drivers are not production ready. I boot my system over the ethernet and have seen the LAN driver corrupt files being written and also has very poor write performance for some reason. I am buying a new LAN card to get around this currently poor support. I was hoping to have a way to lower the processor voltage in the BIOS but I do not see this option anywhere, but this could be due to fact that I have only 2800+ Sempron processor.
Other Thoughts: In the future I will test out on-board sound hardware and other features as I have time to investigate. Stay tuned. I still have to try and get sensor temperatures working and test out the Cool-n-Quiet support in Linux.
