Very solid overall
Pros: Easy to install and hook up all the components. Seems to have a lot of easy option for overclocking (though I haven't gotten to them yet). BIOS set-up was easy. Good options when you're in the OS for tweaking the performance. System is very stable so far.
Cons: Comes with four ethernet ports! Seriously, four?! One is enough, two is overkill. Four is a joke. Opening screen when you start-up is kind of annoying, though it does make it easier to enter the BIOS. Comes with six rear panel audio outputs, which is a plus if you use computer speakers, but I hook mine up to a regular stereo receiver which makes it a pain.
Other Thoughts: Overall this is a very good motherboard. So far it's been extremely stable and it seems like this thing was built to overclock.

Didn't even deliver
Pros: Many awesome features, 4 LAN, 8 USB with room to spare based on the spec of your case. 10 total SATA. Expressgate, which is a really awesome 5sec boot to app feature that is terribly convenient.
Cons: Wake up last week and it's completely dead after 88 days. I now have a very expensive paperweight. I understand that computer parts can fail from time to time, but after only 3 months? I spent 45 minutes wading through their phone menu yesterday only to get bounced from department to department. Seriously frustrating.
Other Thoughts: I have always been a longtime fan of ASUS and really looked forward to taking advantage of the MANY features this board has to offer.

If the messiah returned as a motherboard...
Pros: An utterly ludicrous amount of USB, LAN and SATA ports. Completely and utterly ridiculous, yet totally awesome. Seriously, the back panel is almost all USB and LAN ports (8 USB, and 4 independent Gigabit ethernet ports).
Power and reset microswitches backlit and built into the motherboard. This helped before I realized I hadn't connected the case power switch to the correct pins.
Express Gate is interesting, which allows you to access a few basic applications within 5 seconds of cold boot. Annoying when you're installing and rebooting several times, but you can disable it or change the "Load OS" timeout.
This board is a beautiful city of copper cooling apparatus. An optional chipset fan is included for water-cooled or passive systems (I didn't need it, but still cool).
No jumpers to configure for FSB and multiplier; it's all autodetected and adjustable in the BIOS.
Cons: Manual was fuzzy on some details, but descriptive enough.
Some SATA ports mounted on the side are pointing sideways, which made some a little cramped, but I still had no issues getting things plugged in.
Other Thoughts: This board works hard to earn its "Premium" moniker.

DISAPPOINTED
Pros: It is an extremely well laid out board with killer looks. This board has great featurers and lots of them.
Cons: It is a shame I can't enjoy them. I have been looking forward to writing glowing reviews on all of the components I have bought from Newegg over the last 45 days. Not being flush with cash I have been buying a few pieces for my new build each week. After finally getting all the parts together, I bench tested my new computer only to find out my motherboard is DOA, and beyond the 30 return policy.
Other Thoughts: Because of Newegg's short 30 day RMA return period I now have to deal with Asus. I feel 60 days would be more appropriate. Looks like all these shiny new pieces will be just sitting on the bench for a while. Instead of writing a dozen helpful reviews I am stuck writing a negitive one until I can get the motherboard replaced. I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Great motherboard - overpriced
Pros: I love ASUS products... You wouldn't believe this, but I had two of these DOA in a row. I've been building computers for 15 years, I have never, ever seen this. However, I don't fault ASUS for this, sooner or later, someone is going to have this kind of luck.
Once I got a working board, it runs perfectly with no problems at all.
Cons: Costs too much for what you get, in my opinion.
I needed a motherboard with several PCI-E x4 slots, and since those don't exist, I had to get this. I did not need most of the features of this board, just the slots.
I have a Pentium Dual Core E5200 in this, that CPU cost me $70. Compare that to this $200 motherboard...
Other Thoughts: PCI needs to go away, put 3 or 4 PCI-E 4x slots on the board along with 1 or 2 PCI-E 16x slots and be done with it. Forget the useless 1x slots.

good as normal from asus.
Pros: I like express gate so i'm including it in pros. More USB than you know what to do with. More sata than you need. Still support for IDE and Floppy. 2 Firewires, and 2 USB headers on board. 4 Gigabit ports. 4 PCIe Slots. onboard power and reset buttons, clear cmos jumper, EZ-Flash is nice to do from boot/bios and express gate has an enter bios button on it; you can disable express gate if you want to in the bios. still supports PCI and PCIx1 too. The on-board audio isn't that bad actually so i didn't pull my creative card out of the other computer for once. I had no problems with Windows 7, but i didn't use the disk either.
Cons: So far, i'm not able to team under windows 7 with multiple lan ports from this mobo. But that's the oh-well part. Here's the scary part. I was forced to clear the CMOS 4 times after 3 days of running before i was finally able to get the system booted (after testing parts while doing this). Since then, no problem. Only supports multiple cards of ATI flavor; the 8-PIN power is in an awkward spot. Finally not all the PCIe ports are actually x16 if you're using more than one video card (which must be ATI). I knew that before ordering, but some might not so consider that too.
Other Thoughts: I freaked out at first because the box said DDR3 on it and i thought i was getting a DDR2 board. I did get the DDR2 board and dont think a ddr3 one exists so i dont know what that was all about.
I didn't install the TPM chip but if you do you can disable it in the bios. The Sata ports are a pain like everyone else said, and since i had seen everyone else say that, i went ahead and put a sata cable in every one of them before closing up the case.
I chose memory from the QVL (4GB 2x2GB G.Skill) and it runs great, along with a Q9550 (45nm E0 Stepping) in an Antec 900 Case. It's a stretch for the case LED/Power/Reset buttons to fit to this board. This system isn't and hasn't been overclocked so if i do so later on, i will report back.
I've always used asus and this one just keeps me in that same path. Asus is a good choice.

Pros: Well-designed motherboard Fast, easy install and setup, built in copper cooling system is awesome and keeps everything cool 14 USB ports
Cons: Angled SATA ports can be a pain acces Windows 7 won't accept setup disk but finally got one file to install

So good I bought another one.
Pros: Well-designed motherboard with support for up to 14 USB ports. Supports two separate RAID arrays via ten SATA ports (six controlled by Intel southbridge and four supported by Silicon Image chip). The TPM chip allows for encryption of files and hard drive partitions.
Cons: Angled SATA ports can be a pain access.
Other Thoughts: I purchased a second board to replace a failing motherboard in my Antec box. After six months the P5Q Premium continues to impress me with its stability and features. There's not much else left to say: this is THE P45-based motherboard to get. Definitely recommended.

Great Motherboard
Pros: Fast, easy install and setup, built in copper cooling system is awesome and keeps everything cool. Lots of USB and SATA connectors. 4 Gigabit network ports are a plus. Plenty of extras and goodies. Easy to understand BIOS. There is a power and reset button directly on the motherboard presumably for testing that light up making them easy to see.
Cons: Considering all of the features that this motherboard has to offer its not a big deal. The connector layout for the SATA and IDE channels is a bit of a pain in the neck. One thing I notices is there is so many things jam packed onto this board that ASUS had to sacrifice an intelligent board layout. Not much of a con but be prepared if you go with this board.
The rear panel plate has some sort of cushion on the back I'm assuming dampens vibration and prevents damage to the board during installation. However, it does not allow the rear panel to mesh well with the plate creating a small gap between the plate and the ports. Again, not much of a con...but its there.
Other Thoughts: In the end, Im forced to conclude that this board is amazing. Its easy to setup, plenty of room for big GPU's and processor heatsinks.
The pre post splash screen is a nice touch, it allows you to boot up a very basic OS complete with a web browser, chat interface, Skype, and a few other things. Not very useful unless your really need to look at a webpage fast or unless your very poor and cant afford an OS. In which case you probably could have skimped on the board and bought yourself an OS. @.@
There is only one IDE channel...so only two IDE devices are able to be connected unless you have adapters or a PCI to IDE card. More SATA ports than you'll ever use most likely though.
Windows 7 does not like the ASUS installation disk for some reason. While its a pain, you can still dowload the latest drivers from their website. Ethernet drivers work right away so getting on the net isnt an issue.

Nice Board
Pros: Nice board -- as usual for ASUS. Lots of SATA connectors. Booted right up with Windows 7RC. On-line BIOS update worked nicely.
Newegg delivery great again!
Cons: Windows 7 won't accept setup disk but finally got one file to install. Don't really fault ASUS for this, however. Mouse cursor keeps freezing after a few minutes inactivity. Not sure if hardware or software problem.
Other Thoughts: Biggest pain is trying to get the board registered with ASUS. Website says to click non-existing button (as far as I can see). They did have one of my old boards recorded.

finally works... BUT
Pros: I eventually got it to work.
Cons: This motherboard seems to be VERY PICKY when it comes to memory. Immediately flash the motherboard to the most recent BIOS even if you bought memory from the Asus's QVL list!!! I cannot understate how important it is to immeidately flash the BIOS. Normally you shouldn't do this unless you have a need to do so.
The machine was COMPLETELY unstable before flashing the BIOS--think 10 seconds of uptime with no overclocking. I could only get about 40 seconds with a little overvoltage on the northbridge and CPU. Also don't even think about running older DDR2 667Mhz memory.
My motherboard had to be replaced. Even after flashing the BIOS it was unable. It passed memtest x86 just fine, but it failed prime95 with no overclocking.
There are effectively 8 SATA ports and not 10. This is misleading on newgg's description. The other 2 ports can be setup to do some type of RAID--looks to be mirroring or stripping. It is not good from what I can tell and I would avoid it.
Other Thoughts: This motherboard will work with OpenSolaris 2009.06. Their are two SATA controllers. One with 6 and the other with 4. If you plan on using the second one, only 2 drives can really be hooked up. And The first drive WILL have problems. Hook up a SATA DVD drive to this port and you will be able to effectively have 7 hard drives hooked up internally. There will be a long timeout (approx. 2 min) upon bootup with OpenSolaris, but how often do you really boot up?
As long as you get the memory on Asus's QVL list, immediately flash the BIOS to the latest release, and put the DVD drive on the first port of the second controller if you plan on running OpenSolaris.... things will be fine. It should not be this difficult!! If I had known all of this ahead of time, it would have saved me a LOT of time. I have always had good luck with Asus motherboards, but this really tested my patience.

Well still trying tech support
Pros: this is a follow up i am beta testing for CM and looking for bridges still
Cons: Nice board don`t get me wrong but tech support is terrible, i contacted saphire, they said the bridge should come with the mb. so who do you believe
Other Thoughts: i will drop another egg because 2 days and no help i guess we are just foolish people who pay for products and after there paid for they don`t care

Nice board
Pros: It has alot of features, usb out the ying yang getting ready to over clock it and put it to the test tomorrow 8/7/09
Cons: sad it didn`t come with crossfire bridges having a hard time finding them, this is why i gave it 4 eggs very disappointed, tech support sucks also i tried to contact and to no avail this will definatley reflect my next purchase i will go back to xfx. so if your looking for crossfire this ain`t your board i have all kind of sli bridges but they are different so don`t even try sorry asus but you suck
Other Thoughts: good features but not worth the headache i went with this because a friend talked me into it so i will change it to 3 eggs i`m aggravated looking for parts you shouldn`t have to do that with new equipment

Vista Compatible?
Pros: It works sortof… For the price and the name it’s hard to beat. Not as many goodies as I’d expect on a high end board, but this is by no means a high end board, but it has for the most part what I need; lots of PCI-E slots, digital audio out that’s optical (stereo is a bit far away and I'm not running a 25 foot optical), more Ethernet jacks then I know what to do with, and lots of SATA that supports RAID 5. I purchased this board as a teaching tool for someone new to the overclocking/moding scene and this board has all the essentials to start up.
Cons: Tried to install Vista64 on the board and it just wouldn’t load past the initial screen, it would always hang and looking at the forums on ASUS’s site I'm not the only one with this problem. I started my install with a simple mirrored set of drives, 8 gigs of RAM, and an old ATI X800 card. No go, so I tried Vista 32. Still no go. I pulled all the RAM but one stick, and switched to Single disk in JBOD mode, removed everything in the boot order but the DVD Rom and the HD and still no go. I updated the bios the the latest version and made it worse, the board wont even post now without clearing the CMOS every time. Not the worst thing since this was purchased for the intent of teaching so we’ll be installing a clear CMOS button to the front of the case shortly and await a working BIOS from ASUS.
Other Thoughts: Luckily for me I have a motherboard from another manufacturer that starts with an “M” that ROCKS! I threw my HD in there, started the Vista install and threw it back onto the ASUS board to finish the install. However now that I have everything installed I'm not impressed at all with the tools that are included with this mobo. The overclocking suite is less worthy than what I had in my last PC I built 7 years ago it feels dumbed down with lots of pretty buttons. I just liked the convenience I had before being able to modify everything without the need to reboot. However I'm more than comfortable using the bios, however be aware if you make manual settings you can no longer use the software tools to even view settings, it just gives an error “can not open while in over-clocked mode”. No motherboard is perfect so I'm writing this board off as an “experience” and perhaps I’ll return.

...one more thing
Pros: --see below--it's a great mb.
Cons: Somebody somewhere absolutely must do something about those terribly awful 90-degree angled Sata connectors. If you don't have a full sized tower case you will have a devil of a time connecting drives. I mean it. You better just attach 10-cables to the connectors before you even install the board.

It is a beauty, both aesthetically and as a performer
Pros: This replaces a fine Gigabyte MB, to build a silent system but keep a cranky old Q6600 (bad B3 stepping) cool, and to see if it could be reliably overclocked--except I spent too much $$ so I went ahead and got a new Q8200 anyway--so much for following my plan.
I had no problem booting from the ‘other’ Sil5723 controller, no drivers, no nothing, just powered on and installed Windows 7. The 5723 isn’t quite as fast as the Intel controller so I eventually moved the boot disk over there, but stuck a 2-drive Raid0 on the 5723, and put my backup drive on it too. I have 9 disks so I need all the Sata connections I can get. This MB has them.
It’s been fun. I overclock the 8200 to 3.3GHz, and run my 4-sticks of cheap Mushkin DDR2 800s at 1133MHz, 5-5-5-18, 2.0V--and it’s all rock solid, which I attribute to the motherboard.
So the system is silent! even with 4-120mm fans and 1-80mm fan and the rest of the junk I’ll outline below. And that sweet little Q8200 runs as cool as a cucumber.
Cons: None, except ...then I had this leftover Q6600, which I figured I had to use somehow, so I built another system around the Asus Maximus II Formula motherboard, just for fun....

Loyal DFI no more ASUS MUCH BETTER!!!
Pros: This board has so many great things, (read on the asus site)and they all work!!!runs cool and clean, electricity gets along real well with this board. VERY STABLE....VERY WELL ORGANIZED..VERY POWERFULL!!!
Cons: Only wish it had the X48 instead of the p45 chipset, but the difference is so small it would be for the benchmark master who has already maxed every other possibility.
Other Thoughts: I have been building computers since the 80's were talking IBM clones 286's,486's.For the past 5-6 years I have been loyal to DFI ,and INTEL for motherboards,AND THE DFI BOARDS ARE NO LONGER FOR ME!! I have used all they have to offer and non are as stable and well put together as this board.I would have to say DFI is overpriced. This board is a bargin and I recommend it to anyone!!

DOA, no shrink wrap
Pros: This board is pretty awesome with the bells, features, and niceties that ASUS has put into it. 4 ethernet ports, 10 external USB ports + 3 on-board connectors, 2 firewire on-board connectors, 10 SATA ports. The board is sturdy, like all ASUS boards.
Cons: Unfortunately, it was DOA. It also came with no shrink wrap, making me suspect Newegg sent me a returned item. Then they lowered the price a couple days after my purchase, so I think they want to get rid of these since they're all DOA.
Other Thoughts: Not a fan of the "Express Gate" technology that delays the boot but allows you to surf the internet without an OS loaded. It can be turned off.

Very Nice Motherboard From ASUS
Pros: Very nice board. This board replaced my older ASUS board that blew up after 4 years of non stop use. ASUS has my vote again on this new board. If you are a POWER user then this is the board for you.
Cons: SATA ports could be in a better spot on the board but is not that big of a deal.
Other Thoughts: Be sure you have a power supply that has the 8pin connector or this board will not boot.
Great board, GREAT price, A must buy for any true computer geek.

Easy to use and OC, reliable
Pros: I have had no problems with setup or stability on this board. Tweaking voltage and FSB alone has taken my Q6600 to 3.66 GHz on air. Having different OC profiles is great. I've never lost any profiles or settings.
I've used sound cards, different RAM modules, several different video cards and multiple hard drives without any issues ever.
Cons: Four of the SATA connectors (and there's no eSATA on the back) run off of the Silicon Image controller. While the RAID features there functioned properly, drives showed significantly slower read/write speeds than those on the main ICH10R controller. For example, I was getting 75MB/s versus 100MB/s with the same drives on the two different controllers.
As usual for ASUS, included utility software is somewhat lame, and its use of the English language is inexcusably awful. (C'mon, you may be a Taiwanese company, but you sell a hell of a lot of products overseas. Please hire some fluent English speakers or at least a proofreader.)
Much like so many (if not all) boards out there, fan headers don't offer much tweakability, and there's no Firewire 800 connectivity. It's also too bad that it doesn't allow SLI (just Crossfire).
Other Thoughts: This board offers a zillion different BIOS, connectivity ane expansion options; I probably overbought and could have spent much less on another ASUS P45 board. BTW, 16 GB RAM capacity is impressive, but just try finding a reasonable price on 4 GB sticks.
In any case, I have had no issues with this board in 8 months. Here's a positive counterpoint to the buy-it-so-I-can-RMA-it guys who say that every other message board poster has had exactly the same problems.

Still going strong nearly three months later.
Pros: Excellent all-around feature set. Eight-level PCB makes for a sturdy board. Quad NICs and support for up to fourteen USB ports!
Cons: Doesn't come with the latest BIOS. Angled SATA ports may not be to some users' liking.
Other Thoughts: I've written two reviews on this board but I just have to say it one more time: the P5Q Premium is one of the best P45-based mainboards available. The latest BIOS (2001) increases memory compatibility and should resolve all other issues experienced by early adopters as well. The angled SATA ports may not appeal to everyone but they didn't present too much of a hassle for me.
At the current price plus Newegg's free shipping this is a great buy for anyone that needs a solid motherboard loaded with features. I can't say it enough: get this board! It's one of the best around and another fine product from ASUS.

Understand Intel Chipsets
Pros: Quiet board, though not compatible for my situation. Newegg as always fabulous when it comes to customer service. How could we ever do without them???? We couldn't.
Cons: Fairly slow using Intel's P45 Chipset If one is a purchasing motherboard for performance forget P series chipsets. The x series is far superior in terms of speed. X975, x38, x48, x58. Of course PCI-X slots and other factors may determine ones need. I happen to be a speed minded person when it comes to the internet.

RMA
Pros: Great board with lots of features. It has everything just about anybody could want offering quad core support with high memory capacity in a cheap package.
Cons: Con mother board arrived DOA. Had to RMA
Other Thoughts: Received the new board and everything works just as promised. Running intel 2.83GHz quad core with 8GB of highend corsair memory. Used this setup for a multi-monitor platform for day trading. The Sapphire 4850X2 runs well on this board with no compatibility issues.

Update
Pros: Well-built motherboard with tons of tweaking options. Angled SATA ports are plus. Lots of copper for cooling the northbridge and southbridge core-logic chips. Aesthetically pleasing ;-).
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: This is an update to my initial review. It's been a month and the board is still running stable in my new PC. This was the smoothest build I've ever done; ASUS definitely deserves high praise for crafting such a great motherboard. Recommended!!!

So far so good.
Pros: Solid board with lots of copper. Quad NICS are nice touch. Includes TPM module!! Ten USB 2.0 ports with connectors for 4 more. Angled SATA ports are a plus.
Cons: None worth mentioning.
Other Thoughts: I built a new system to replace my aged P4 box using this board. Everything went smoothly; the board works perfectly. I have four Western Digital 500GB green hard drives running in a RAID 0 array. Definitely recommended. My specs:
ASUS PQ5 Premium motherboard Core 2 Quad 3GHz processor Zalman CNPS 8700 NT CPU cooler 4GB of DDR21066 Crucial Ballistix Tracer memory Coolermaster Mystique 632S black case Western Digital 500GB Green Power HDD (4) EVGA 9600GT video card X-Fi Titanium PCIe sound card PCI modem Floppy drive

Pretty good overall, Raid bios doesn't work though
Pros: fast, plenty of sata ports, nice big copper heat pipes all over, lots of goodies (cables, screws, etc.)
Cons: unable to get into the RAID bios, it simply doesn't open when you hit the keys the screen and book state. Tried USB and PS2 but still no luck. So if you're planning on using the RAID i'd look elsewhere. Thankfully I had purchased a separate Adaptec SATA raid controller so i didn't need to use the on-board raid

Everything works A+++++
Pros: This is a great board. Heat pipe keeps the NB @ 80f and 8400 runs at room temp (ambients 70f) so 21-22c at default vcore. Asus included alot of extra apps with this too. This has dual RAID controllers for people who want to raid their boot drive(s) and RAID their storage drives. I think the only other board I seen that had this was a X58 board. Esthetically the board is beautiful. No problems with running PC7200 (4x2Gb) True 16-phase power management. Great board, get it if you want a ROCK SOLID board.
Cons: the negative reviews about this board here
Other Thoughts: I needed a different pci, pci-e layout otherwise my Asus P5K-E would been home to my 8400

The Good News - The Bad News
Pros: It works! I am not overclocking so most is routine. I have also installed without a bios update.
Cons: This motherboard is now up and working and I've observed the following: The location of the SATA connectors is stinkola. It is extremely difficult to insert in some cases if the motherboard is already installed in the case. I'd suggest pre-installing the number of cables you require before seating. The surrounding area of the processor may not accept other fans. Please look at the area closely before using anything other than a provided Intel heatsink/fan.
Other Thoughts: I can't understate the SATA issue. My case had the drive cage within 2 inches of the horizontally mounted SATA connectors.

An Awesome Board
Pros: All I can say is wow! This board has everything AND the kitchen sink. I mainly bought it for Socket 775 and the number of PCIx16 slots available for use with RAID controllers. The gigabit controllers work well and are automatically detected. There are 2 built in SATA controllers each with their own firmware. I noticed no conflicts between these controllers and my Adaptec 3805 controller.
Expansive BIOS with tons of options including lots of overclocking and voltage management features. The board even has it's own OS embedded (appears to be linux based) on it that allows you to surf the web use some basic online tools and read the contents of thumb drives for quick access to data.
Cons: My Raid controller would not work in a couple of the x16 PCI slots. System would not boot unless I used the lowest slot. Odd but may be fixed since the bios on the board was many rev's old.

Pros: prompt shipment everything came as described apparently vista works fine on it but with those type of specs on it who would want to run vista on it except server, not me :) 4x 1gb nics team-able sata raid 5 it could of been hawt but we got shot down :(.
Cons: Ok contacted asus be4 purchasing this mobo, with the hardware configuration it appears to be an awesome server board for the price, thus asus told us that we could install win 2003 server on it but after working on it for 3 straight after windows 2003 installation the raid 5 would fail so recovering took forever then it would fail again replaced the brand new hds with other brands and still the same thing sent it back to newegg for a refund and my friend got it back stating newegg said vista installed just fine on it???!!! okie the whole reason we purchased to board was b/c we need it to be a server and according to asus the raid controller might of been bad on it running raid5 so idk

Follow up
Pros: I PREVIOUSLY wrote a glowing review of this board. I JUMPED THE GUN!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE see below in Cons and "other thoughts".
Cons: After getting my machine up and running, it ran what seemed a bit slow, but, it ran reliably. I finally found out WHY it was slow. ALL hard drives on the 6 SATA ports, were transferring data at a MAXIMUM of 32 MB/sec. THAT, is SICK. WAY off hte norm. that I have had with these SAME hard drives in other machines of about 100-140 MB/sec. I tried these drives in two other computers, they are FAST, but, NOT on this board, all BIOS settings are correct, The Drive Xpert ports, are much closer to the proper xfer rates, but, STILL about 25% slow. Then, all of a sudden, the mouse and keyboard started freezing up. Tried others, same thing. Re-installed O/S, NO help.
Other Thoughts: I went to Asus' Forums, to see if anybody had any answers to this issue/issues. There were HUNDREDS of posts there concerning the P5Qxxxx boards, ALL having the SAME problems and MORE. MANY hundreds of entries from people having issues with Mice and Keyboards freezing, and having Hard drives slowing WAY down, then coming back up once in a while. ALL of them were stating that "I'm RMAing this *****". As I had to do with mine. THIS, is ridiculous. THIS many people having these issues with the P45 boards, and Asus Leaves them out there to aggravate more people. BIOS releases to date, do NOT EVEN ADDRESS these issues.

Pros: This board looks like it would be better suited as a Router or a Firewall.
Cons: Why do you need so many Lans?
Other Thoughts: I didn't buy this board I just find it intesting that it has so many lans.....

Fast, Stable and Reliable.
Pros: Has SO MANY ports, of ALL different types, you have to use the stick on Block schematic to remember them all. Everything is well laid out and easy to access. I've had it about 3 weeks and It's running VERY stable. Very fast. Using E8400 CPU. I'm using the FIRST release BIOS, and cannot find a SINGLE thing wrong with it. THAT, is abnormal. AND, a first! ;-) Also has a LOT of PCIe Ports you can use, and strangly enough, bandwidth to go with them. I've got a Intel SCSI RAID HBA in the x8 slot running FINE. And, stillhave 2 more that are empy with 4 electrical lanes each to use that are empty. Lot "o" Slots ;-)
Cons: THE ONLY CON I can come up with, is that the Manual, as with most manuals that are printed today, is :"SOMEWHAT" poorlyi written, and a bit sparse. The part covering Drive Xpert, is RIDICULOUS. VERY UN informative, and flat wrong in some spots. Drive Xpert works GREAT, but, you'll have to just play with it to get it to work as it is intended to work. NOT a board issue, just a LACK OF GOOD ManuaL issue!
Other Thoughts: I HEARD from a review that this was a COOL running board, so, for the FIRST time, I DID NOT install that extra fan on that Asus usually includes. And, the review was right, the board, has NEVER exceeded 40 deg. C. and that was under a VERY HEAVY load. It's been running 2 weeks straight now, with NO issues at ALL. NO hot spots anywhere. I used a QUALITY Infrared Temp. probe, and checked EVERYWHERE on board during the burn in I did, and as above, NOTHING over 40 deg. C. THAT is almost Un heard of in modern boards. They ALL seem to get so bloody hot. That reduction in process size on the chipset, must be part of it. BUT, I've also got a VERY large case, and very good cooling. There have been 2 Newer BIOS' released so far, but, they don't do anything that excites me, so, I've stayed away from them. You know the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Board gets a "B" from me. And, a "BUY IT".

AweSome !
Pros: This board is Awesome......... even the on board sound is just as good as the high end out there. All SATA connectors in the right position so you can use the Big video cards without problems, not like the other P5Q Series. Worth the money !
Cons: None At All........... Very Happy !
Other Thoughts: Get This P5Q Premium, I'm glad I when back to Intel !

RMA
Pros: Nice layout, nice features. DriveXpert is a great concept and works well. 8 USB ports onboard is a great idea.
Cons: Power LED and one fan header doesn't work. If my external HDD is on at boot the system hangs. Drive is fine. This may work out to be a good board but I think it needs a lot of work. I have started the RMA and ordered a Maximus II Formula and that says it all.
