2000mt/s?
Pros: Decent price, good BIOS.
Cons: This board has an FSB with only 2000mt/s. Zotac has a board for the exact same price with 5200mt/s. A 2000mt/s FSB is ok if you're running a single core processor and DDR memory, but it doesn't move nearly enough data to put on the same board with a multi-core processor and DDRII memory. WAY TOO SLOW.
Other Thoughts: This problem is of course my fault for not truly understanding the importance of my FSB. I tried to upgrade my old system with board because it supported faster memory, a multi-core processor, and PCI-E graphics card; but it is all choked out by the tiny FSB.

BOOOOO!!!
Pros: would have been a good board if it worked.
Cons: DOA

Great budget HTPC motherboard
Pros: The fact that it's price is under a $100 is as great of a selling point as anything and it's an especially great board for building an HTPC. The mATX form factor also makes the board perfect for building an out-of-the-way PC.
Cons: I am mainly a Linux user so when I built my HTPC with this board I expected the system to work out-of-the-box. The big issue I had was that now I was dealing with a system that used digital audio instead of analog. In short, if you are going to use Linux on your system make sure you use ALSA v1.0.19 and make sure that you unmute IEC958 in the alsamixer.
Other Thoughts: It took a week or so of working on the problem of the audio, which was quite nerve-wracking and hard to find straight-forward information for. So, hopefully my experiance here will alleviate others' problems.

Great Board
Pros: Easy setup, great features.
Cons: IDE controller over rides SATA with IDE hard drive connected not sure why yet. Outside of that great board for the money.
Other Thoughts: Built this for a friend, a little to basic for my taste.

Trouble with Win7
Pros: Seems to have nice feature set. First attempt succeeded on installing Windows 7 64bit.
Cons: Wanted to install 32 bit version and would not complete install. Hung up near the end, and now will not even get to the partition manager. After a long time, it asks for a driver that is missing. Can still install Ubuntu. Won't install Win 7 64bit now either. Useless and time consuming for me so far.
Other Thoughts: It is not designed for Win 7, so be warned.

Vista and Win 7 Warning - Read Ausus Forums
Pros: Nice board features. HDMI works well.
Cons: Cannot load Windows Vista or Windows 7. Tried multiple times to load other than XP with no luck. Setup hangs after initial OS file load. Searched Asus forms and found others with this same issue and no solution is presented. You may be stuck with an XP OS with this motherboard like I am. Very disappointing

ASUS is my all time favorite!
Pros: Prettiest little motherboard you'll ever see! lol.
It started right up, posted (oh how I love that first beep) and I went directly into the bios setup utility and turned off ExpressGate! Installed Vista with no problems!
Cons: I totally and absolutely hate where they put the IDE port. I used it for the DVD-RW drive. Other than that, the board is AWESOME!
Other Thoughts: I bought a 450 watt heavy power supply with a 3 year warranty. I know it's a little overkill for this motherboard, but they won't have to worry about overworking it.
I've always liked ASUS products!
Athlon x2 6000+ 2 x 1 gig RAM Dual Channel setup. (Kingston) HP with Lightscribe burner. Just a 320 gig WD drive. SATA Vista Home Premium 19" WS ASUS Monitor with DVI-D a little TLC.

Great HTPC board
Pros: Great onboard video and audio with plenty of output and connectivity options. Easy installation and setup.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
Other Thoughts: Great micro-ATX board if you're looking to build a home theater PC. I bought this board not knowing if it would truly be capable of adequately displaying 1080p material. I was delighted to find out the video output is more than capable of handling all HD movies I could throw at it without a hint of screen tearing or other artifacts.
With options for digital and analog video and audio including an HDMI port, several USB ports including motherboard headers, and an external SATA port, there isn't anything more I needed to add to this HTPC build.
Board setup was effortless. I turned off the Express Gate as it was unecessary with the board functioning just fine without it. I haven't even looked into the BIOS much as everything was running at the proper clock speeds and timings when the board was first turned on. The most plug and play motherboard I've bought.

An ASUS Board as usual
Pros: Not much I can really say. Like all the other Asus boards I've used, this one has worked great and I've yet to have something they've built die on me.
Cons: None really.
Other Thoughts: Not sure as to the practicality, but for cooling layout Intel has specified a standard board layout, at least as far as position of the CPU. It would be nice if the same standard were used on AMD boards. Nothing critical, just a thought.

Good mobo
Pros: What can I say, Asus mobo, have only had one go bad, and they rma'd it with no questions.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I will only use Asus or Biostar mobos, never had a reason not to.

RMA :(
Pros: Small, HDMI, Good layout
Cons: Memory slot A2 & B2 were bad. It would not boot up with any memory in either of those slots. That means I would not have been able to run dual channel, or more then 2 sticks of memory.
Other Thoughts: I was getting a 10k in 3dmark6, which isn't bad. I just couldn't put my 4 x 1gb sticks on, so I decided to RMA this back. I love ASUS, but this one really disappointed me. I purchased a gigabyte board to get me by for the next year or so.

Great Little Board
Pros: Not expensive, easy to set up, good performance
Cons: I use the SPDIF out to connect to a Marantz AV receiver. HD Audio Deck (NVidia) software is a little buggy, i.e., it defaults to HDMI mode when computer comes out of hibernation-it must be reset. Thats a known issue...no fix yet.
Other Thoughts: Great little board for the price...its in one of my secondary boxes (not for work) that I use mostly for personal finance software, internet, email, MP3 stuff. Mainly boaught for its SPDID optical out, onboard video (I don't game play), etc. Vista64, 4gb ram.

Problems-Problems
Pros: Rated at 145 watts for the processor.
Cons: Replacing motherboard, on first boot if you do not disable express gate you will get a black screen and if you follow ASUS website instructions for the Black screen FAQ you will destroy your BIOS (I know I did). RMA for second motherboard. This time on bootup I held down the DEL key and disabled express gate. Now I have a motherboard that works. Wrong I have found two other problems. The motherboard does not support SATA 150 (My sony Optiarc DVD burner won't work.). OK I plugged in a SATA to PATA adapter into the Optiarc, now it works. The last issue, the onboard audio intermittently hogs all the processor 3.2 Gig dual core. I disabled the audio. Now the computer runs great! The old MSI motherboard crapped out due to the windsor core processor 125w. Never buy a processor over 95 watts. Newegg I guess I'll be ordering a sound card and I needed new speakers anyhow.
Other Thoughts: Only one PATA

Works Fine Nice Board
Pros: The board is what it is and does what it is supposed to do without any problems. It was very well suited to the the person that the system was built for. I am getting another one to build up for someone else who only needs basic onboard video.
Cons: It's not a full sized, full featured, SLI-3x16 PCIe, with 12 USB, Dual Fire-Wire, Dual Gigabit Ethernet, Dual IDE and 12 e-sata ports, with hardware and software RAID, and don't forget passive Heat-Pipe cooling, for this price! Duh oh double Duh!
Other Thoughts: It's not a high priced board, don't expect high priced performance, bells, whistles and accessories. It's also not a full sized ATX motherboard so don't expect to be able to mount giant video cards without something maybe getting in the way.

So far...
Pros: Great little mobo so far. Everything works well and is easy to use. Express Gate is kinda cheesy, but it works well. All connections and setup using Windows XP is very simple.
Cons: No firewire ports. I didn't even look when I purchased this, assuming that it would have one. Even though Firewire is dying quickly, I just figured it would have an IEEE1394. Oh well.
Other Thoughts: ASUS has done very well for me in the past, I continue to purchase their boards as a result.

Great board
Pros: Worked no problem with XP x64 edition. Asus has always performed for me, this is the 4th board I've owned that was Asus. Has PCI-E slot for the game enthusiast, and great integrated video support for basic home media use.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: running with AMD Phenon x4 9850 Black Edition 2.5 ghz, 4 gigs of G Skill 1066 ram, EVGA 9800 GTX+ 512mb.

NOT HDCP ready
Pros: cheap motherboard with published HDCP compliant on Asus website
Cons: NOT HDCP compliant, can't play Blue-Ray, a big deal if you are building an HTPC. Asus customer support - long holds
Other Thoughts: downloaded latest bios and chipset drivers, still not HDCP compatible

Works with Win 7 and vista x64 flawless
Pros: This board runs windows 7 x64 and windows vista x64 flawless. I have a Phenom II 940 BE @ 3.7 Ghz installed and all 4 dimms installed running DDR 2 1066. Not one problem or BSOD or any other problem. Rock solid stable and an amazing performing board.
Cons: lacks the ability to overclock the north bridge
Other Thoughts: Before the 940 BE I had a 9850 BE @ 3.1 Ghz and then a 9950 BE @ 3.1 Ghz installed in this board and it ran fine with 4 sticks of DDR 2 1066 then to.

Easy
Pros: Super easy setup, i just swapped this board in for an older board that had failed. 4 memory slots for a micro atx board... AWESOME! Runs Great.
Cons: Vista gave this a lower graphics score than a much older board. Express gate needs a hard drive connected with SATA. Wish it could use the RAM or a flash drive instead.
Other Thoughts: Not sure why vista didn't score the graphics on this higher but I'm rather pleased with how vista treats hardware swaps. Haven't tried express gate yet.

Not for Vista X64
Pros: Worked OK with Vista 32 Bit.
Cons: Had to revert to X86 after I could not get the board to stay up for more that 20 seconds with Vista X64. After I disabled the video drivers the board would stop giving BSOD continuosly. Even after I downloaded and installed the latest bios and video drivers MOB would still give BSOD in X64 once or twice every day or two. Evryone says it boots so fast, but I was unimpressed.
Other Thoughts: Returned MOB and purchased a GigaByte GA-MA78G-DS3HP which I installed last night. What a difference, the GigaByte installed without a hitch and is now running Vista Ultimate X64 flawlessly. Using an AMD 9850 plus 8 gigs DDR2 1066

Good Motherboard
Pros: Cheap motherboard for a media center Has everything you need. Vista, XP, Linux all worked fine
Cons: Windows 7 did not work. It kept rebooting itself after installation. I'm not worried about that as windows 7 is still beta.
Other Thoughts: I installed it into a APEX DM-387 Black Steel MicroATX Slim Case Computer Case 275W Power Supply and installation was a breeze.

Onboard Video is faulty
Pros: It boots really fast and is Cheap in price. The bios update can be done with a usb stick.
Cons: The onboard video HDMI, or just in general the Internal Video licks sweaty B*lls. I returned a motherboard thinking it was faulty, but i just got another board with the same problem. When I open a folder in WINXP the graphics leave random pixels across the screen. Rather then return again I am just going to install/buy a PCI-Express video card, in theory that should work fine. Updating and all that jazz was done, trust me it is not working the way it should. Just don't really on the onboard video and other then that this board is cool.

Do not buy
Pros: Cheap. And you get what you pay for.
Cons: Exactly what I said. We had two stop working within a week of each other, now I need to send it in, and waste our time to get new ones. Obviously not the same one.
Other Thoughts: I might switch back to intel, but that's more money out of my pocket from this motherboard.

Great Mobo
Pros: ExpressGate board (within 5 secs you're into a mini OS with skype, picture viewer, bowser with flash support. and internet access). Well supported in windows Runs without problems in Linux (ubuntu intrepid) although I havent tried all the video outputs yet. Processor temp sensors work in Ubuntu which is a bonus. Some people have said how bad it is that you need Windows in order to use express gate. THERE IS A WORK-AROUND: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1049170 Im using a and x2 2.6Ghz and 4gb dual ddr 800 with the stock cpu fan and a SATA2 HD. It loads Ubuntu pretty damm quickly. Comprehensive manual on all aspects of use. Great capacitors Sturdy board, fits well in my micro atx case Sturdy back panel Came with a SATA data cable and power cable converter, both of which Id needed and hadn't thought of! Only 1 power connector which is compatible with my old PSU The front panel power button connector was compatible with my old case but no indicator lights.
Cons: I cant think of a single thing wrong with the mobo. Lets see. When UPS delivered it they left it outside the door and didn't knock (loudly?). It also took about a week to get here because UPS took MLK and the day after off. It took 4 days to get from LA to San Antonio. I could only connect the USB front panel stuff on my old case. The audio connector was incompatible. I was EXTREMELY lucky and just about managed to connect the power button. The graphics card isn't great (although its decent for an inbuilt gaphics card) but thats not what I bought this mobo for.
Other Thoughts: I plan on getting a tv tuner card to use with this fellar and might get a graphics card at some point...but Im mostly using it as a workstation.
Haven't had a single crash, even when I tried to get it to run TF2!! I havent seen the CPU temp go above 30 degrees celcius.
Fantastic board for a media center, file server, work station. I THINK it has overclocking capabilities although I havent messed with that.
If you want a gaming mobo I'd say this would be fine but you need to get an external graphics card.

Mythbuntu Platform
Pros: Everything you need on the board. Added a Pchdtv 5000 DVB-T capture card and I am receiving digital broadcasts in HD (you do need an antenna :-) ).
Cons: Why is the OS needed to used the on-board web browser? Linux cannot use it. Fix this ASUS.
Other Thoughts: System:Recommend the AMD 64x2 5600 with 65 watt core which runs cool with the fan on low speed. Also the WD 1TB SATA drive which is quiet. 2 Kingston 1066 mhz 1gb ddr ram (2gb total). Antec TruePower Trio PS (also quiet). Some garden variety DVD drive. Loaded latest Mythbuntu 8.10. Besure to enable audio using AUMIX not ALSAMIXER. Also needed some Mysql work to get the privileges right.

Good Board for the Money
Pros: Booted up the first time and recognized all the hardware no problem. Even the OCZ Fatality I bought that wasn't on the supported list works great.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: This is my 3rd asus board and it's fallen right in line with the others. Looking forward to trying the OS that is loaded onto the motherboard as well.

Decent MB, BAD Customer Service
Pros: Seemed to work for most part. Will know more once I get the MCE to work fully
Cons: ASUS service so far has been bad. Called them and also chatted with them about no getting the audio to work. Chat folks direct us to custoemr service the minute the hear linux. Customer service repeatedly hangs up when we mention linux. Bottomline, could not get the ASLA drivers to work or recognize IEC958. No audio so far. Will keep trying. ASUS support case #302127.

good board
Pros: ease of set up, plenty of options and a very well built board, it feels heavy for its size.
Cons: I have had some issues with the onboard sound card locking up with certain games. Its no biggie cuz I will have a new card installed soon.
Other Thoughts: This board fit the bill for my low budget micro-atx gaming computer.

great board
Pros: Terriffic MB. With this board, I've built the fastest system I've ever owned. Very pleased with the performance. 4gigs of dual channel 1066 Geil Ram. I originally installed 4gigs single-sided 1066 Oz ram, not on the list of supported ram, but the MB reconnized it immediately.
Cons: I had trouble with the system fan connector. No power to the fan. That's why only 4 star rating.
Other Thoughts: To solve the fan issue, i used a cable adapter to connect the fan to the power supply cable and on this adapter there is a white sensor cable connector that I plugged into the board's system fan plug. Fan works and board recognizes the fan's speed. I'm even able to adjust with Asus Probe II

I LOLed at a previous review
Pros: Very reliable. It has put up with my failing hard drives from Western Digital (never buy Western Digital Hard Drives).
It is very spacious, which makes installation a breeze.
Cons: JUST A WARNING.
Kinda big for a micro ATX, check your case size. I had to really squeeze mine in.
Other Thoughts: Please people, if you have to ask "can you put drives on this motherboard for windows xp."...
Please don't put your tech level as "Somewhat High."

Great Home Theater Board
Pros: Really nice video drivers, the board works great with linux. Doesn't generate a whole lot of heat, and it offers digital sound. What more could you ask?
Cons: Well, if I have to nit-pick, I don't like where they put the connections for the HD/PWR/Power Switch/etc. It's in a difficult spot when working in a very small case. The other is the fact you need to install Windows to use the "splashtop" function. See other thoughts.
Other Thoughts: As a linux enthusiast, I can't understand why in order to use the linux-3 second boot splashtop option you need to install Windows. It's absolutely ridiculous. Sigh, but I do like the thought and I hope they keep developing it. Other deal with the splashtop is you need to be running a SATA HD in IDE mode for you to be able to use it. You can also install it on a USB HD or flash drive too, but ASUS says that it slows it down.

Great Micro ATX Mobo
Pros: Boots up very fast. No problems out of the box setting up. The board layout is very clean and easy to install parts. Running Vista Ulimate 64 and have yet to experience any performance issues with drivers or hardware. Very good mobo for those who want to setup a micro atx gaming pc.
Cons: Only downside to this mobo is there are only 3 SATAs if you plan on using that many and no internal/external firewire. Other than that I'd still highly recommend this.
Other Thoughts: My system setup: Phenom 9850 Black Box, 8GB OCZ Reapor DDR2-800, 500GB Master + 300GB Slave, HIS HD4670 1GB DDR3, Creative X-Fi Extreme, and Vista Ulimate 64

Pros: High quality board. I needed a micro ATX board that would let me fit 2 PCI cards and my 8800 GTS-512 with its massive heatsink, so this was one of the few options. I'm running a Phenom 9950 @ stock 2.6GHz and I can see no downside to this board only supporting HT 2.0 (2000 GT/s). The HT 3.0 data transfer speeds seem overkill for current hardware standards, but AMD likes to plan ahead.
Cons: No firewire internal or external, but still plenty of USB connections. Onboard sound annoyingly defaults to the HDMI connection, so disable the HDMI sound driver if you aren't using it. Otherwise you'll have no sound every time you restart.
Other Thoughts: My system: Phenom 9950 @ 2.6GHz, 4 GB PC8500, 8800 GTS-512MB, Vista 32 bit.
