Epic Fail
Pros: This motherboard was part of a combination deal sold with the processor I wanted. So the only pro would be I got the processor!!
Cons: This has given me troubles for a while. The board would become inoperable, not boot properly, would not recognize hardware, and was intermittent at best when performing.

Great board!!!
Pros: The board is a solid built overclocking machine. It's been running stable with a phenom 940 overclocked @ 3.6MHz for some time now with no problems (Proper cooling is required). it's got this "self recovery system " feature in the bios that allows it to go back to default settings every time the machine hangs up or crashes due to inappropriate overclocking actions so you don't have to open the case clear the Cmos over and over again while setting up your system. In my opinion that feature alone pays for the whole board.
Cons: None, if my phenom 940 and 5850 likes it, I like it.
Other Thoughts: some people take off points in a review of a product due to their lack of research on that product and expect something that the board never claimed it had ( like expecting 2 pciex16 slots when the specs clearly show the board only has one for 1 for instance) or giving no eggs due to the time taken to receive a rebate. That is not fair to the product or the people looking at the product. this is a great performing board with all the features I would need at the present time. you'll need to read and do research to find out if it's the right one for you :)

hmmm decent
Pros: works perfect still a year later.... what more can you ask for
Cons: none rly because it works exactly like it says it will and the picture shows... the only thing i didnt take into consideration is my vid card covers the sata ports... wich is why only gets 4 eggs.... i had to but 90 degree sata cables soo that i could plug everything in but other than that as long as you need a p[lain board with no frills this ones great and it works
Other Thoughts: ljsfhgli sdhfglidsgf h;dfjgiehtui543eponvfghv 90eurjkgmp;vl

Not worth it...
Pros: Cheap when bought as a combo with AMD Phenom II X4 940, lots of OC features, but no explanation on how to use them in the manual.
Cons: Would not pick up memory at 1066mhz, single PCI-E slot, died within 3 months.
Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for, in this case $20 when in a combo deal with the AMD CPU...their RMA process leaves a lot to be lacking. Will stick with a major mobo manufacturer from now on...

Board works, but NO Rebate
Pros: Board works, NewEgg delivered quickly. Drivers installed easily. Price could have been good.
Cons: Here is the reason for only 1 eggs, mail in rebate company useless. Effectively paying 20% more than expected for a product makes it not a good deal.
Other Thoughts: Rebate is not for real, registered online, sent in all necessary documents, rebate denied claiming they didn't receive my documentation, after many attempts to contact them via email no response from rebate company. No phone number to call. Utterly useless and a waste of time. Disappointed in NewEgg for continuing to use this rebate company.

GOOD MOBO FOR PRICE IF U ONLY WANT ONE PCIX 2.0
Pros: I REALLY LIKE IT, OVERALL IS A REALLY GOOD MOBO JUST READ SPECS. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN IT 5 EGGS BUT I REALLY DONT LIKE WHEN THEY LIE TO YOU ON REBATES.
Cons: I SHOULD NOT COMPLAIN BECAUSE I GOT THIS 4 MONTHS AGO WITH THE PHENOM 2 940 X4 FOR ONLY 210$ SO I THINK I REALLY PAYED 230 BUT THAT WAS A GREAT PRICE CONSIDERING THAT CPU WAS STILL 225 THEN. AND THE MOBO WAS 120-20 REBATE. BUT I DONT THINK IM GETTING THAT REBATE! IT SAYS IT IS APPROVED ONLINE BUT PEOPLE NEVER GET THEM! I LOVE NEWEGG BUT I WISH THEY WOULD JUST DENY MANUFACS. TRYING TO SELL YOU BU|| SH&* REBATES.

Biostar support is terrible
Pros: 1) NewEgg is awesome!!! No complaints with them. 2) Good motherboard for the price (if the support issue weren't there) 3) Motherboard well labeled.
Cons: BIOSTAR 1) You have to babysit support. You'd constantly have to ask them for info that they should offer as typical customer support. I can't tell you how many times I had to ask, "How's it going" after many days of nothing 2) Support doesn't know their product well. They didn't know what all flashing LED messages meant. Assumed it was the motherboard but, in the end, it wasn't
REBATE411 1) Better Business Bureau gave them an F rating. 2) Had to send in paper rebate and fill out their web site. too many hoops. 3) Promocode on rebate was for wrong motherboard rebate (at least that's what happened when I entered the code on their web site. Promo code was for $20,web site gave 10. 4) Contacted them about the mistake in the rebate, they told me,"Don't worry about it". I got the rebate check and it was wrong 5) When I contacted them (via web site. Only 200 char comment BTW) about the check, they ignored me, when they were quite responsive prior to the problem 6) Their web site i
Other Thoughts: Biostar and their rebate company MyRebate411.com are terrible. I had the motherboard for 3 months. Then it wouldn't post. LED_1 was flashing. That scenario isn't in the users manual. I contacted support asking them what that meant. They didn't know. They said (Quote),"The LED is a guide, at this moment the flashing is not a normal error report, so that is why it’s not on the book. ". So much for a diagnostic tool. I sent the motherboard back. Never got any info from them about status of the replacement. They couldn't track it by their RMA (which I had to have on the label and the box) so I gave them the UPS tracking number. Finally, I got it back. New motherboard, same issue. There was much more to this that I don't have room for. For my next purchase, I will really take in account what people say about support experience.
As for Rebates411, it's a scam. Had to contact Biostar to get the rest of my rebate since R411 just ignored my emails.

Cons: died right after the 30 days :( 1month 1 week lol ) cant rma now? money down the drain- ticked off.
Other Thoughts: Not new eggs fault. I've had some bad some good with biostar but- I'm buying asus from now on.

It's Fine
Pros: This board was purchased to replace another ATX MB that has issues. It's been awhile since purchasing a Biostar MB (ASUS snob) but, it's actually pretty nice. It has a good layout and everything is labeled well. The board was assembled while out of the case, with all cables patched to the MB first, then dropped in the case and patched to the devices. First click of the PWR button, it started right up. The CMOS is nice and it responds quickly to the Del key to enter setup. The installed OS is Windows 7 (RC) and it did not need the MB drivers disk at all; all devices were found and installed. The auto overclocking works as stated, pushing the system (while in Windows) until it fails. On restart, it picks the best/stable combination found - pretty slick. This review is being written from the system now - it's been running continuously for two days. Rock solid and heart pounding.
Cons: Does anyone still have a PS/2 mouse? Much rather have the PS/2 keyboard and 2 USB port combination. Rather than the PS/2 mouse and keyboard combo.
Other Thoughts: This system ranks below 5 on the Windows Experience Index. It's running Aero but, is only being held back by the onboard video. A kickin' video card is all this board needs added.

Nice Motherboard and CPU
Pros: Worked and has continued working right out of the box. Simple to install in the case and even if some of the connectors weren't exactly where I'd like them it was no real problem. The CPU seems fine. It's not the biggest speed demon out there but the price is right and it's certainly faster then my dual core that cost double the price 3 years ago.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Thanks NewEgg for the nice bundle.

Fine board, bad rebate
Pros: No problems. Comes with nice utilities to update/backup bios and view other specs of board.
All drivers and software on CD installed without problems.
Cons: Onboard Stereo Mix record channel grayed out, so it is not changable.
Rebate was for $20, but only received $10. I have emailed my complaint with the original PDF file for the rebate I should have received.
Other Thoughts: Contact myrebates411 if you do not receive the proper amount in your rebate.
Bought this motherboard for someone else, as I was hired to put a computer together for him.

Not so good for overclocking
Pros: Cheap, because of a combo deal I ended up getting this for about $20.
Good onboard graphics.
Hasn't failed me yet.
Cons: Makes hiss noise when my CPU (Phenom II 940) is at load.
No MOSFET heatsinks, mine get incredibly hot and I'm going to put on aftermarket heatsinks.
Not so great for overclocking. I have gotten my 940BE to 3.5GHz but I feel motherboard limited. There is absolutely no way to manipulate the CPU-NB voltage which is a very important setting for Phenom II overclocking. There's no chance for me to hit the 3.8GHz marks without being able to change the CPU-NB voltage as the NB speed, which I can't raise above 2200 (on a multiplier basis, by changing FSB I'm now at 2266), will become a bottleneck and cause errors/crashes.
The RAM speed settings suck. They lack a full range of numbers and I am unable to relax my timings for overclocking stability.
One other thing is that I could not get 1066MHz RAM to work at 1066. If you plan on getting all 4 modules then 1066 isn't an option anyway as the hardware can't handle it.

The price is right
Pros: Excellent board for the price. Fairly decent board at any price really. Came exactly as advertised. Onboard video is refreshingly decent.
Cons: None spring to mind.
Other Thoughts: I sometimes think of Plato's cave allegory: I like to think of myself as the enlightened one who has seen the objects casting shadow. But just when I think I'm starting to see clearly my visions dissolve to vapor.

Bunch of horse doo doo
Pros: Great motherboard for a casual gamer that just wants a single Video card setup no crossfire or SLI. Has great features but now you can get much better for about the same price.
Cons: I don't know what it is but I have had two of these boards and BOTH DVI ports would not work at all. It is amazing to me. I can't get it to work with a dvi cord (tried 2 thinking it was just a bad cord.) nope! I have read other reveiws that have said the same thing, this is a great board but something as simple as a dvi port working!? come on biostar. If all you had was a DVI cord than you would have to buy another CRT cord b/c DVI will not work for nothing.
Other Thoughts: I am planning on getting another gpu like 9800gt or radeon 4670hd, BUT if the DVI on that doesn't work I am gonna be major p'd off. And yes I know about disabling the onbard GPU in the bios.

I Don't Know??? It's Ok I Guess....
Pros: This board is just ok, nothing special, to me anyway. It's an ok board if you are just going to build a mediocre machine and it does have Hybrid CrossfireX. I used a 940 cpu in this and that was a waste for this board, maybe a 9950 or less. I just built another machine with another brand mobo, same 790GX chipset and another 940 cpu and it was much better!
Cons: Tried the "Bios Update" and when I tried to update from the internet, it told me that I had the most current bios, NOT, at least not according to the Biostar site there is a newer one so I did a manual update. I usually manually OC the machines that I build but I thought I would try the Auto Overclock in the bios, V6 worked ok, V8 worked ok but with the V12 it wouldn't even boot.
Other Thoughts: If you want to build a mid range machine and either not overclock or mildly overclock get this board. I'm not saying it's a bad board, it's a good board, just kind of boring.

Nice, Simple
Pros: Works as expected. Clean layout with good labeling where everything goes. Nice looking use of colors on the MB itself. Seems stable to me. Dual DVI capable.
Cons: I haven't gotten the wireless to work. The built in NIC works well.
Other Thoughts: I was just looking for something that could take 8 gigs of Kingston HyperX ram and would do dual DVI. Aside from that, I just want stability. I'm a happy camper.

Not that great
Pros: None, buy something else, I would suggest ASUS.
Cons: MoBo sometimes likes to hang during boot for no reason. When the bios gets to the PC health screen where it tells you about the fan speeds, cpu temps, voltages and such, it sometimes hangs. The only fix is CTRL + ALT + DEL to reboot. I have had it do this two times in a row, and is super annoying. I have tried updating the bios with the latest firmware and it hasnt changed anything.
Other Thoughts: I bought this as a combo deal with an AMD Phenom II x4 940 Black Edition and was skeptical. I will never buy a Biostar mobo again.

Works great!
Pros: -Works right out of the box. -Bios is easy to update and use. -Combo deal I got was amazing! -It has ACC. -Manuel is very easy to understand.
Cons: -My memory did not run at stated specs. However, that might just be the memory. It is very easy to fix though. You just have to do a little bit of research. -Personally I don't like the color of the board. I like more of a plain look without too much colors. That is just my opinion however. Everyone has their own.
Other Thoughts: I was sceptical of this board at first due to the Combo deal making this and the CPU so cheap! I took the cheap gamble and it was totally worth it. It's a great product. I was able to overclock my PII 940BE to 3.4ghz stable.

Don't Buy
Pros: None that I can think of.
Cons: MSI has no intention of honoring the 20$ rebate. Only 4 drive can be in the raid. Not 6 as stated
Other Thoughts: Never again MSI. Too many good board makers out there to ever do business with you again.
I'd give zero egg if possible.

Great Motherboard
Pros: Great motherboard, it worked right out of the box and everything that i have used on it works without me having to go into the bios to set it up to the right specs. The software that comes with the drivers cd is very useful for people who wish to overclock beyond the stock settings of there hardware. Everything in the manual is very understand able and the bios is very very nice (note: with the overclocking software that it comes with you really do not have to go into the bios).
Cons: There really isn't any cons for me. it does exactly what i need it to do. :)
Other Thoughts: Here are my spec:

Build
Pros: Just built system. Installing Unbutu 64 bit, and going to install Server 2008 (portable drive). Easy to build and love the extra Sata cabels (1 IDE also)...
Cons: Installed with Phenom x4 and bad bios right out of the box. It would not recognize my HD's. I went to Biostar site and downloaded lates BIO Version and worked.
Other Thoughts: Would have been nice to have a slip in the box about Updating BIO's. Anyhow if your going to buy it look at this first to download BIO's update. So far just a 3 for no update info. Other than that easy install, looks like it would be a 4 or 5 other than BIO. Questions is 1394 plug in (used USB pin on motherboard to install, have not tested). Got the great combo deal
Pros: Bought the combo with Phenom II 940BE and 4GB of Gskill DDR2. Works great with easy setup. I don't overclock much and don't think SLI is needed so this is perfect. A full size board with all the PCI slots and express slots I need.
Cons: It's not free. (Actually it was if you sent in the rebate)
Other Thoughts: My old video card (1900xt) is faster now..replacing my socket 939 Dual core Opteron 165 (1.8GHZ) made a world of speed difference. I'm rarely as happy with an upgrade.

Great Motherboard So Far
Pros: So far it's been quite stable. Definitely a good choice for the price.
Cons: The only real issue I had was that I wasn't able to use by old IDE hard drives due to there only being a single IDE port. Luckily I was able to find a relatively cheap 1 TB SATA drive at a local custom computer shop.
Other Thoughts: This is the first time ever building a computer by myself. I decided to use my existing tower, monitor, keyboard and mouse, which in turn saved me quite a lot of money and gave me a much more stable and better system to boot.

Fine for Windows, Linux troubles
Pros: Quiet, good video in XP, stable, easy to overclock if you want.
Cons: Jittery video performance in Ubuntu Ibex (both 32 and 64 bit versions). Not the fault of the board, just bad ATI drivers for the embedded video.
Other Thoughts: Got with the AMD 940 bundle. Works fine in Windows, but the ATI drivers for linux are bad so I'm getting another video card to make that work.
I'd do it again, but watch out for linux performance.

Stable,
Pros: No lockups at all, no problems with installing os, I have Vista 32 bit, windows 7 64 it and ubuntu 64 bit, all install fine and not one freeze up . Detects PII 940 CPU and runs great with any bios upgrade
Cons: Bios logo screen is kinda lame, and the only gripe I have is the memory voltage which will not allow 2.2v directly but my memory still works at 2.125v fine tho < reason for 1 egg off. Only 1 pcie16 slot but i knew that before i got this.
Other Thoughts: I got it with the 940 discount,

A follow up to my previous review...
Pros: Recieved the RMA replacement on friday (I submitted it on the previous friday) so 1 week turnaround is pretty good. Thanks newegg! This board installed with no issues and fired right up. It even unlocked the 4th core of the 720 BE I installed! The person I built it for was extremely happy.
Cons: The fact I had to RMA to get a working board is a con but really if you deal with computers long enough you will have to rma...stuff happens.
Other Thoughts: Over all, I am pleased with this board. It has a nice set of features for the price which is about half the cost of my system's mobo: asus m479a deluxe. Of course, I have 2 4870x2's in mine which you can't do with this one. For single card setups you could do worse but not much better.

Great deal especially with CPU combo!
Pros: I bought 23 of the PII 940 CPU and this mobo combo for a computer lab. Only 2 were DOA. Setup was easy and all the mobo connections are in great locations and within reach in the Antec 300 case.
Just did a little bit of OCing, I was able to get the 940BE to 3.6GHz with only +0.1v. Good control of memory timing and voltages as well.
Cons: However 2 were DOA.
Other Thoughts: If you are not using the on board HD3300, you don't need to connect the 4 pin molex power.

Enjoy this MOBO!!!!

Great Combo Deal
Pros: Paired with AMD Phenom II X4 940 and 4GB RAM with no issues at all. Combo deal was priced right! Running Vista Ultimate 64bit with no issues. I am not a gamer so it is doing everything I need with my old ATI 256MB Graphics card and scored a 4.0 out of 5.9 on the Windows Experiance Rating because of the video card. Everything else was 5.9.
Cons: No subwoofer input.
Other Thoughts: Biostar TA790GXB A2+ Mainboard AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz Black Edition G.SKILL 4GB DDR2 1066 (PC 8500) ATI All-In-Wonder 2006 PCI-E 256MB Video Card WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA HDD 64bit Vista Ultimate

Bad Quality Control
Pros: Good Combo Deal
Cons: RMAed Twice and both times its a bad board Purchase this only if you have the time, and like pain
Other Thoughts: Between RMAing the two defective boards, I lost a months time to work on my PC. All my parts are laid strewn in my lab. Not only I lose lab space, I get to experience, the thrill that the part came in, then put it all together, and then realize that the board was bad, total anticlimax. I had the pleasure of going through this twice. The second time was in total disbelief, I went to best buy to buy spare parts to test it all over again. In total I lost 20 hours of my life, which I will never get back. The third board which was suppose to come in next day from newegg didnt happen. Newegg dropped the ball on this one. The first two times are okay. However the RMA process takes a week long. We have to wait for the part to arrive at new egg. 3 days, then inspected, then reshipped out. 5 business day process.

Decent board
Pros: Recognized the AMD Phenom II X4 940 right out the box without having to flash the BIOS. Easy BIOS Flash utility, nice board layout, decent manual (was my first build and I had no problems).
Cons: As others have stated, the BIOS is poorly categorized. You basically have to memorize where everything is at. Everytime I go to change something in the BIOS I have to hunt for the settings for what I want to change. Also, the overclocking tools in the BIOS are not that great, but I am a fan of the Overclocking Software for Windows that this board comes with.
Other Thoughts: I changed the RAM settings from DDR2-800 to DDR2-1066, and got a blank screen. I had to clear the CMOS and try again, this time changing the voltage, and it worked great. Great board for a low to mid range pc, but I would recommend a higher-end board for gamers.

Great Board, Got It For Free!
Pros: Everything, this board is really impressive. BIOS is not bad, it has the latest AMD chipset, can support AM3 CPU's with a flash of the BIOS.
Cons: Only one PCI-e slot, but I knew that buying it.
Other Thoughts: Got it with the PII 940 X4 deal. Couldn't be more pleased, thanks again Newegg.

AWSOME MB FOR PRICE
Pros: 16GB 1066 MEMORY! RADEON 3300 HD IS PRETTY GOOD FOR OLDER GAMES (ABOUT 2005 OR OLDER) CLOCKED AT 700MHZ AND MEMORY AT 400MHZ. I LIKE THE 2 LEDS ON THE MB TO TELL YOU IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS. LIKE THE ONBOARD EXTRA POWER UNIT. EASY TO SET RIGHT UP AND USE IN MINUTES.
Cons: 1066 MEMORY SPEED NEEDS TO BE SET IN BIOS AND I HAD TO CHANGE THE VOLTAGE TO 2.1 TO GET IT TO WORK. ALSO OVERCLOCKING WITH MEMORY SET TO 1066 WILL NOT WORK B/C THE MEMORY IS ALREADY MAXED OUT VOLTAGE AND ANY HIGHER VOLTAGE RAISE MAKES IT CRASH. HAVE TO CLOCK DDR2 AT 800 TO OC. THIS IS NOT A BOARD DEFECT I JUST NEED BETTER RAM.
Other Thoughts: GREAT BOARD IF YOU ONLY NEED 1 PCI EX 2.0. I HAVE BOUGHT 3 BIOSTAR BOARDS NOW AND ALL ARE GREAT QUALITY! THANKYOU BIOSTAR!

Good deal on a good motherboard
Pros: Basically free with a combo deal, easy installation, good overclocking features in BIOS, good performance and stability, decent on-board video
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I got this with the AMD CPU combo deal for free after a $20 MIR. This seems to be a good solid board and I have nothing to complain about so far. I installed it in my wife's computer and she loves the speed increase using this MB with an AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition CPU overclocked to 3.5 ghz.

Cheap and Good
Pros: This motherboard is really good for the price i bought it with the AMD PII x4 940BE CPU and might have been free plus it has the new AMD 790 Chipset on it making a even better buy.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of
Other Thoughts: for all I care this motherboard could die in a year for 20 dollars it help to get my budget computer build off the ground and running this is a great board.

Mother Board
Pros: This is an excellent mother board and is loaded with overclock capabilities...GAMERS DREAM BOARD.. at a great price...Many capabilities that no other boards give you access to.
Cons: Needs more Video Card capacity..Has a single AGP slot... Not Dual Video card compliant unless ePCI is used... CrossfireX works with VISTA OS Only anyway...

Decent
Pros: Decent board, Safe to learn how to OC on can reset and flash bios if you brick it with a flash drive.
Cons: Using headphones you need to unplug and plug it back in every restart if your using ventrilo to hear anything. Then again could be my front audio ports too.
Other Thoughts: Got this motherboard with the 940 deal from newegg, Arrived at my house in a timely manner however it was not packed very well and had me concered but got it all hooked up and fired it right up works pretty decent.

DOA...
Pros: The features seemed to be everything the person I was building it for would need...
Cons: Was DOA. No post whatsoever. Tried 3 different cpus, 2 different kinds of ram and in different slots, 3 video cards plus the onboard, 3 different psus...it's dead jim.
Spent $24 to return the board with tracking and insurance which is about a quarter of the cost of the board.
Other Thoughts: In the 5 years of buying from Newegg, this is only the second RMA.
Got the automated approval and sent it off back to them for replacement. Let's see if the second one is able to POST.

Works
Pros: Cheap. Works.
Cons: Won't boot with my USB hub plugged in. I have to unplug it until my OS gets to the login screen. I have mouse plugged into the hub so this is kind of annoying.
I have run three OS's so far: Ubuntu Linux, Windows 7RC, and FreeBSD. NONE of them will boot with the USB hub
Other Thoughts: No firewire, serial, or parallel port. But hey, it's cheap!

Works for what it needs to.
Pros: Booted with my AMD Phenom II X4 940 right away, and flashing BIOS with a USB flash drive was a breeze. Overclocking options are abundant.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: I bought 8 GB of G.Skill DDR2-1066 RAM with 5-5-5-15 timings to go in this system. When first put it the RAM was detected as DDR-800, had 5-5-5-15 timings and was run at 1.9V. Adjustments in BIOS made it easy to turn the voltage up to 2.1V and make the RAM DDR2-1066, but the timings went to 5-7-7-20. So be aware that at DDR2-1066 those are the timings you will get.
Bought this for dirt cheap with the CPU combo, but it seems that is no longer offered.

Pros: purchased as part of amd phenom II 940 package. Worked right out of the box with no issues. Passed 1 hour of prime95 + HCI memtest + furmark.
Cons: bios is really wierd.
Other Thoughts: I didn't do any overclocking with this system. 4 gigs patriot 1066 amd phenom II 940 650 watt antec EA nvidia 9800 gtx

A good basic motherboard
Pros: Does almost everything I need it to do, and I got it with a great combo with the AMD Phenom II x4 processor.
Cons: I wish this motherboard had: FireWire (even though some of you will say that FireWire is becoming outdated), and especially HDMI

First Time Build
Pros: It worked from the minute I booted it up with no issues. On-board video looks real nice. Pretty much got it for FREE with combo which was the deciding factor for me. Online BIOS update is a nice feature.
VISTA score from new build Processor----------5.9 Memory-------------5.9 Graphics------------4.2 Gaming Graphics--4.0 Primary Hard Disk-5.9
Cons: None at the moment
Other Thoughts: This is my first time building a computer from scratch.
(All items purchased through NEWEGG except case)
Vista Home Premium 64 OEM Biostar TA790GXB A2 Amd Phenom II X4 940 WD Caviar 7200rpm 640g HD (SATA) G.Skill 4g (2x2g) 1066, which I had to set manually in BIOS Lite-on DVD burner (SATA) Rosewill 600w PS 2-80mm exhaust fans 1-120mm intake fan 1-80mm side intake fan
All this was put into a case I had bought a few years ago and never got around to building. MGE NINJA case.
I was nervous and overwhelmed when all the parts showed up, but after thoroughly reading every manual I was able to assemble it and have it running in about 2hrs.
Radeon HD 4890 soon to come!!!

Got it for cheap but it is not nice
Pros: Low price when combined with AMD Phenom X4 940 Black Edition. Supports DDR2-1066. PCI-E 2.0.
Full 64 bit support up to 16GB of RAM also.
Cons: RealTek onboard sound has problems. You need to unplug your microphone and plug it back in every time you start the computer to make it work.
AMD Chipset.... but I guess if you are an ATI fan that's not an issue.
Had some RAM issues at first but the issues for now have subsided.
Other Thoughts: I recommend going ASUS. The only reason I went with this BIOSTAR was because I got it for like $30 with a combo deal and I didn't, at the time, want to spend an extra $100 on a new motherboard, but that time is definitely approaching. I can't stand this stupid sound issue on this board.
Specs: AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition ~3ghz 8GB G.SKILL 1066 memory NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX+ Cooler Master Centurion 5 Mid-Tower case Windows Vista 64 bit

Pros: Cheap for a reason.
Cons: PRE-RMA LED_D1 light was on with an annoying beeping noise. Which in the manual means "Memory Error." I thought that was odd so I went to a local store and bought new memory. The same LED_D1 came on. Motherboard is bad? I tried the most basic startup, Motherboard, PSU, CPU, Memory and the same error occurs.
POST-RMA SAME LED_D1 ERROR!!!! The only difference is that it does not make the beeping noise, its just LED_D1 light blinks with LED_D2 light EXCEPT LED_D1 light blinks brighter and longer. Improvement? I guess, but still does not boot up.
I have checked my Memory specs against BIOSTAR website and they all match up. 2x2gig, 800 MHz, and DDR2.
*Both times screen is blank and BIOS does not come up.
Other Thoughts: I bought this as a combo with the AMD Phenom II X4 940. I tried to contact Biostar via e-mail, their online e-support, and by phone. No responses yet. Definitely a bad choice on buying this mother board. Wish there was a zero star option.
I have read some of the other reviews and other forums that have the same problem as me, but they offer no concrete solutions. If you find a solution PLEASE e-mail me!! krziturtle@hotmail.com (I check on a daily basis)

Pros: I got it free with combo deal and rebate ( that keeps it at 4 stars, otherwise it would be 3). The colors are nice. The manual has very good diagrams of the board and it is labeled well itself.
Cons: There is only one IDE connector. The BIOS is not really intuitive and the manual isn't really any help with it. I couldn't change the clock speed of my phenom II x4 940, but I could change the multiplier. The driver/utilities cd that came with it wouldn't detect it so everything had to be installed manually. The t-series overclocking software won't work, it just crashes my computer when I start it.
Other Thoughts: I had to jump through hoops to register for the rebate, but for a free motherboard, it works.

Worked / Comared with oc'ed Conroe 3.2G
Pros: Everything worked out of the box. I have tested dual video with DVI at 1920x1080p with RGB set at 1600x1200. Be sure to bump up your dedicated video ram pool to at least 128M or above. It works very well with Windows 7 64-bit and Aero desktop but you got to find the *beta* drivers from AMD. Even with 64-bit Win 7, it seems 10-20%, faster than my 3.2GHz oc'ed Conroe which has 32-bit Win XP pro using 32bit apps/games. I have played with oc'ing to 3.4G w/o problems and no voltage changes. I recommend getting a fan for the north bridge if you plan on oc'ing.
Cons: No parallel port and rs232 back plate connectors. The onboard integrated radeon graphics is s-l-o-w, performance wise it is less by 10fps than my Dell D830 laptop with NVS140 running quake 4 at 1024x768. Dual video only supports one DVI and one RGB. It can't support dual RGB monitors. RGB signals are not available on the DVI connector. In other words, using a DVI to RGB 15 sub D connector doesn't work for supporting second RGB monitor.
Other Thoughts: I've done some testing with the combo, AMD Quad core Phenom II X4 940 at 3.0GHz and compared this with a 965/E6600 Conroe oc'ed to 3.2GHz. The install CD doesn't work with Windows 7 but this is only needed for the F6 Raid drivers support but this is accessible directly by exploring the CD directly.

bsod :S
Pros: was a real deal (price -79 off combo with x4 940). You can install windows, drivers, etc, and get them to "work"
Cons: First of all, I have almost 1 blue screen of death daily, some days more than 1 bsod, on games that never give me bsods in the past with other mobo-cpu. when I use windb almost all errors where problems with the realtek sound driver. I reformatted all, and reinstalled, downloaded new drivers for hd sound, and nothing, bso at random :S anyone of you know anything about that? I use xp pro, g skill 4gb ddr2 1066, gtx 260. please help me :( if anyone has this problem and solved it:(
Other Thoughts: well, I USED to say that a con was that i cant put ht in 3600mhz (1800mhzx2), only at 3200mhz (1600mhzx2), but i can live with that, but not with bsods all around... :( please help

Great motherboard, Great Value
Pros: Motherboard is a great deal. Never had any problems, plugged and played right out of the box well at auto configuration. Tightened timings and gave a slight overclock which the board also responded well to. Power switch and reset button on motherboard is a nice touch. The bios has an option to run memtest which gives you a diagnostic tool, in case you do have a boot issue.
Cons: I didn't really have any. For a budget motherboard, this board is full of features. Worked great for me right off the bat. I think that some of the people that gave bad reviews; 1. are lying about their technical knowledge. 2. Probably just tried a ridiculous oc, and didn't reset the cmos.
Other Thoughts: I think this is a great deal, I have owned 3 biostar motherboards in the past, and I have been skeptical, but this one, was high in quality and for a great price too.

Ridiculous Rebate Process
Pros: Seems a decent enough board for the combo price. Would be a "4" for value, were it not for rebate hassle!
Cons: Totally idiotic rebate submission process, including compulsory registration (personal info) at an unwanted "processing site", major hand transcribing of transaction numbers, ID, product numbers , promo codes, etc. between printed rebate form, online form, printed invoice and even the back of the mailing envelope!!!
Other Thoughts: Newegg needs to use its business-generating clout with this type of arrogant supplier to get them to clean up their rebate process. Will never buy another Biostar product until their rebate system is cleaned up!! I am sorry to see Newegg's excellent reputation compromised by suppliers like this.

Solid board, difficult build
Pros: -AM2/3 Support -Good board layout - solid perf
Cons: -On board video died out of box -random post issues while trying to get running
Other Thoughts: Received this board with the combo special offered with Phenom 940. I used the phenom in my workstation and loved this board to put my now spare cpu in.
Had to have been one of the hardest build I've ever done. Graphics will not work after loading the chipset driver at all. Hooked bout DVI/DSUB up to monitors but once drivers are loaded Windows simply will not display graphic. Had to use an addin card I had. (If I RMA shipping back will defeat this being a free bonus to my 940 purchase)
Also, while trying to get setup this build it wouldn't post at all, after just working moments before. Swapped cards in PCI slots, reset bios. And after 2 reboots worked again.
After tweaking the bios JUST right and using my PCIe card this guy is a champ. :)

Free w/ an AMD 3.0 GHZ Quad Core!!!
Pros: You can't beat the deal,. Newegg is awesome after MIR you basically get this MB for free and it's pretty decent.
Cons: Is it the best, No. Get an X58 if you need a top of the line MB w/ an i7 or better, but don't count the 6 core AMD out.
Other Thoughts: During the past year I just bought a house and got married. After recyling my case and monitor I was able to build a great computer for under $500 (new drives included). This is the ultimate budgt deal 790GXB + AMD 940, you get quad core performance with over clocking capabilities at a price that won't break the bank too much.

Pros: Seems to be a nice board. I didnt have any of the issues that others have had.Im running a AMD 940x4 with 4 gigs gskill DDR2 1066 and have had no issues.
Cons: Not sure why but im having a hard time getting the onboard graphics to crossfire with my HD4870 1GB Maybe the video card just isnt hybrid crossfire enabled. But not really a con.

Good board
Pros: It was practically free so what's not to like. Plugged in the 940 and fired right up w/Vista 64. Oc'd it to 3.3ghz and installed some Patriot extreme ram and manually changed it to the right settings in the Bios. Plus on board video is decent and can flash Bios for AM3 support. A great, free board.
Cons: I hate the Bios...it is horrible.

No tech support
Pros: Looks nice
Cons: No tech support. Eight different times I emailed tech support about setting up a raid array. Not one single reply. Board will only place four drives in any configuration.
Other Thoughts: Not worth the money

Frustrated
Pros: Price with combo offer.
Cons: Would not post, ever.
Other Thoughts: Returning per biostar recommendation for a replacement. Will see what second board has to offer. This is my first experience with Biostar and Newegg RMA. Will see how this process goes.

not so good
Pros: 790gx / sb750. AMD PII X4 940 work fine without bios update. 6 x sata port
Cons: 1) NB runs very hott (93c). I don't know if its only me... I tried reapplying the thermal compound to the NB but still runs @ 93c.
2) only 4 voltage spec for memory. 1.95, 2.05, 2.15 & 2.25v.
3) Bad board for oc guru.
Other Thoughts: Is NB @ 93c safe?

Better Than Expected
Pros: I expected to get what I paid for. It was free in a combo deal with the Phenom II X4 940 and after a $20 rebate. So without much in the way of expectations I have been completely surprised and pleased with how well this board performs. A decent BIOS with both manual and auto overclocking features. Auto overclocking has 3 settings: V6, V8, and V12. V6 sets the 940 to 3.3Ghz. V12 sets it to 3.6Ghz. Auto overclocking sets the bus speed higher and overclocks your RAM. It doesn't change the multiplier on a Black Edition processor. The good news is that you can do both the manual overclocking like changing the multiplier yourself AND auto overclock the remaining settings if you choose. Also comes with a Biostar's overclocking software and AMD's Overdrive overclocking software. If you're new to overclocking on an AMD platform without the front side bus then this is the board to get you into it fairly easily. Didn't need to update the BIOS everything worked perfectly out of the box.
Cons: I'm not crazy about the 4 pin molex connecter that plugs into the motherboard for direct graphics power. Needs a MOSFET heatsink as they can get hot when overclocking and this board's are bare.
It tried to make me breakfast but burned the bacon.
Other Thoughts: Give this board a try it's surprisingly good. With a good aftermarket heatsink it will overclock well. On stock cooling the 940 clocked to 3410Mhz @ 55 degrees C under full load. That's very impressive for a subpar cooling solution. I really expected this to be a pile of junk. Man was I wrong!

Is that the black death? Nope, it's just biostar.
Pros: Cheap as free, after rebate and combo discount. Works, enough. Forced me to learn how to speak broken English.
Cons: When I first got the board installed, I immediately ran into an error. According to the light code, one of my RAM modules wasn't working. However, after fiddling around with it, and moving my RAM, I no longer got this error. After that, it wouldn't allow me to boot a single thing. Cue more bios fiddling. The next issue was that windows couldn't see I had a video device installed. This is when i called Biostar tech support (and was forced to learn broken English). Biostar blamed it on EVGA (WRONG. it was a switch in the bios).
Other Thoughts: I got everything fixed, and now it works fine, but imho, the fiddling I had to do (over 15 hours worth) was nowhere near the free mobo.
If you see it being offered as a combo deal again, steer clear! Invest money in a decent board, you'll be happy you did.

Great!
Pros: Awsome Chip sets. Easy to install. Bios is great. With the combo quad core 940 that came with it, started defalt of 3.4ghz. (maky have set it over clock on accident) And the drivers that come with it work right out of the box! And .It FREE with the combo!
Cons: No auto detecting Memory. Have to set it manualy.
Other Thoughts: I have a Radeon 4650 With a 500 watt power Sup, and i dont know how it happened, but i have no video! The onboard isnt running, and when i take the Video card out, still wont work. Nor will the video card. If anyone has know's why, id love to know.

Recommended, NOT!
Pros: It seems to be a nice piece for your budget rig, having the AMD 790 chipset series.
Cons: The board did not even show the boot screen when it was powered; as if the motherboard is made to only turn on the case fans! Horrible experience, even though I only payed combo deal price ($20) for it instead of $99. It just didn't work no matter how much I tried, different settings, different CPUs, different RAMs,.... nothing.
Other Thoughts: Just get the motherboards that you and the comunity trusts... I couldn't even find a single review for this motherboard online.

Rock Solid
Pros: Board looks good, performs well, there are alot of OC options in the BIOS, worked with Phenom II processor right out of the box, AM3 support, on board video no slouch and can be setup in hybrid cross-fire. "Auto Overclocking"
Cons: The only negative for the board I've found, as someone else mentioned, is the board doesn't have any holes on the right side for mounting which means you have to be careful when connecting SATA cables and the 24pin power cable. It's not a problem- just have to be careful of that. After you install it though, how many times are you going to take it out? No deduction for that.
Other Thoughts: As others have mentioned, the rebate problem. Contacted myrebates411.com, Biostar and Newegg multiple times BEFORE submitting rebate. Rebate company won't respond, Biostar says it's a rebate company problem but thankfully Newegg said they would back it if the rebate was rejected. Newegg rocks!
"Auto-OC" V6/V8/V12 doesn't work well with what I put in- in fact the board won't even boot (Phenom II 940BE & OCZ DDR2 800). I think it is because the board is only sending 1.95V to the memory and the memory needs 2.2V. It can be manually adjusted, but honestly with everything at stock settings it runs awesome.

good motherboard
Pros: well made solid caps no chipset fan
Cons: poor cpu fan control no firewire hardware mon app buggy
Other Thoughts: works fine; fast; reliable
fan control seems to run cpu fan >3Krpm no matter what the settings. in vista 64, if the hardware mon app is minimized, it vanishes for good and can only be restored by killing it off and restarting it.

BIOS Issues
Pros: Good manual, easy to setup.
Cons: BIOS Issues
Other Thoughts: To support AM2+ I had to update the firmware. That's all well and fine, I boot up into the utility and it informs me after a minute or so that my BIOS has been flashed properly. It confused "flashed properly" with "removed completely".
I'm not the only one to even have this problem either, my friend Google informed me. You'd think if they know they have an issue with flashing this board's BIOS they'd have some more user support available for it. But you get what you pay for, I should have bought a gigabyte mobo.

Perfect board for my needs
Pros: boots pretty fast ~5seconds emailed biostar to ask because the bios screen is gone in about two and the "hardware monitor" screen disappears in 3 seconds.
there is a driver for the HDMI audio so i think if you bought a converter then you would have sound and video. plays battlefield 2 maxed on a 1680x1250 monitor fine. blue ray tested perfect. HD apple trailers perfect.
Cons: not 8 channel audio no external sata or firewire
Other Thoughts: Gave it 5 eggs instead of 4 because it does everything I want it to and got it practically for free with the phenom II 940. Bought the GSKILL 1600 ram too btw, no complications.
Apparently has raid but did not test

Great Mobo, Great Offer
Pros: Beautiful colors, Decent Manual, LED lights on mobo to help you diagnose your problem. Easy, straight out of the box installation. Had no problems. The I/E Panel as a bit tricky cause you needed to punch the holes out yourself, but that's not something to complain about. 6 sata slots, and 4 slots of ram. just what you need.
Cons: The power outlet for the CPU Fan was a bit tricky to find, but that was always fun! :)
Other Thoughts: Get it. With the Combo deal and MIR that I had, it was dirt cheap.

purchased with amd phenom II 940
Pros: The board was basically free, and performs up to or beyond my expectations in every facet.
Cons: What is up with the rebate? Newegg told me the problem was fixed, but I just checked up on myrebates411.com and it still doesn't list the correct product. Sure, it's only $20, but I still feel as if I was cheated somehow. Newegg has stopped responding to my emails and you can't contact myrebates411.com without first submitting a rebate. What a scam.
Other Thoughts: I gave the product a 5 star rating because I'm still satisfied with the board. Even without the rebate, it was only $20 with the phenom II 940 combo deal.

Pros: the board is working. cannot reach biostar about their rebate problem.
Cons: myrebate411 is still a scam.like another reviewer said, the amount pending is 0.this is undoubtedly due to the fact that the promo code is for another board.this rebate is for purchase from newegg only.newegg is aware of the problem but says you have to contact myrebate411. good luck getting a response from them.
Other Thoughts: no more biostar.

Solid, no-frills board
Pros: Lots of overclocking options in the BIOS. More SATA connectors than I'll probably ever need. Windows 7 RC x64 installed flawlessly.
Cons: No Firewire, no eSATA. Only one IDE slot. Like some other reviewers, I had to chisel a bit of the back plate away to make all the holes line up properly.
Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this board if you can get it as a combo deal (I got it basically free with a CPU). It's probably not worth buying by itself since it's missing a few features that would be nice (crossfire, firewire, DDR3).

Scam Rebate
Pros: Came with the combo, does what it's supposed to, support up to 16GB ram, and 4 ram slots is a plus
Cons: Scam!! rebate system, after submitting through myrebates411.com, it said rebate amount pending is $0.00 !!!!!!, what kind of registration is that!, motherboard could have been better and cheaper, a bit expensive than the others.

Great Mobo
Pros: For the price (combo deal) you can't go wrong. It worked better than I thought (because it was basically free).
Overclocked my Phenom 940 to 3.4ghz on air (stock HSF) and it runs stable.
Manuel was very easy to understand. This is my first solo PC build and it went off without a hitch.
Cons: It needs 1 more IDE. I am using some old equipment.
Overclocking program wasn't that good.
Other Thoughts: Great buy with the combo!
If you were wondering, my case temp is around 27-30 and the processor temp is 42-44 at full load. I have a cheap $50 case.
I will get a Radeon 48xx video card in a week or two for gaming.

cost effective
Pros: Excellent features for price. Works excellent so far. Came bundled free with my AMD Phenom II x4 processor purchase (after $20 rebate).
Cons: Had some trouble initially with loading the ATI video drivers from the included disk, but I <u>think</u> I have it resolved. Board is thin and flimsy.
Other Thoughts: The board is very thin and bends easily so be careful when installing, and always hold with two hands. Worked right away with very little glitches. Included everything I needed and more. I am hoping for a long life of the product. Overall impression: Very happy!

For the combo price I got, excellent
Pros: I got this as a value overclocking board as part of a combo deal with the PII940. Expectations from BIOSTAR name brand were very low however the board worked on first boot and the board has complete overclocking functionality. The board also works well with AMD's "Overdrive" software based overclocking solution.
Cons: Strange (but functional) BIOS layout. Check every submenu, the layout is not completely intuitive.
Other Thoughts: I've seen performance/overclocking boards from more reputable brands that were not as good as this product.

Pros: The motherboard was cheap with the combo 940 deal. Bought it for a completely new gaming rig: 940 / this mobo/ ddr2 1066 mushkin 2x2gb ram/ raptor hdd/ radeon 4890/coolermaster 600w psu
Cons: It was DOA. Did not post, did not turn cpu fan cooling, LEDs didnt light up, etc. The only things that worked on rig were the fans that wer connected straight to PSU. I tried resetting CMOS, tried booting only the mobo/cpu, and it did not even give beeps to signal that ram was not installed. Biostar support is TERRIBLE, I could not find a phone number to call for support and i sent 3 emails (one per day) describing the problem. After a week, still havent received a response.
Other Thoughts: From what I read, some people had compatibility problems with the 940. However, according to the biostar site, this mobo supports the 940 (and 945) with version 6.X Mine was 6.0 and either it did not support the cpu or it was DOA. The mobo seemed like a real good deal, but all i wanted is for the stuff I bought to WORK, and not have the hassle of RMA'ing stuff for a while. Hell, I havent even OPENED the 4890 because of this >:[

Nice board, lots of expandable slots.
Pros: Great board, fit everything that I have no problem. Installation of everything was simple and went flawlessly.
Cons: No IEEE 1394 (Firewire) compatability, but doesn't say it has it so didn't lose an egg ;)
Other Thoughts: I'm actually having alot of problems getting one of my 4 port USB hubs to work at all on this motherboard. No matter which port I plug it in it simply refuses to work, however if I plug it into my older 4 port hub (which is only 1 1.1 compliant) my 2.0 compliant hub works fine. Don't think it's a mobo issue so didn't take off an egg. Other than that the install was a cinch and it runs everything I have. You will need to update the bios but the instructions are easy to follow!

Great however rebate not so good...
Pros: After a week I really like the board, the cool and quiet helps to keep my Phenom II 940 cool at 32C idle and 54C full load in a Antec 300 (the board fits great by the way, at least for me).
Cons: Rebate. I bought the board on June 30th and now it is time to fill up the forms for the rebate. I went on the web site and entered the promo code BINE051609063009010 which returned the BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX 128M and P4M900-M7 FE motherboards. None of them match the TA790GXB A2+ model, hence I cannot claim the rebate. I have contacted NewEgg who told me to contact the manufacturer, which I did, and they asked me to contact NewEgg again. Meanwhile time to submit the rebate is ticking. Basically a mistake has been done on this particular rebate and none of the parties want to take responsability for it, hence I am $20 more than expected from my pocket.
Other Thoughts: I wish rebates would be accurate enough to not let the consumer run into these kind of troubles. It really gives a bad customer service experience and even though the product is great I will probably not buy this brand again and even more here. That's a pitty.

Excellent bang for the buck!
Pros: Like many people, I bought this board as a combo with the AMD Phoenom II X4 940 CPU. A week ago, I put the system together along with 4 gigs of G.Skill 1066 RAM and a WD 320 SATA HD, and I have been impressed with the performance and stability. I set up a dual-boot with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 RC2 and did not have to install any drivers for either OS.
These are the ratings from the Windows Experience Index in Windows 7, which rates on a scale of 1 to 7.9 Processor: 7.3 Memory: 5.9 Graphics: 4.1 Gaming Graphics: 5.2 Primary Hard Drive: 5.5
I am impressed with the ATI Radeon 3300 on-board video. It works great with Hulu and DVDs. I am not a serious gamer and do not over-clock so I cannot comment on those activities.
This is my first Biostar mobo and I would recommend it to others. I am surprised to see so many negative reviews. I did not have any problems fitting the IO shield and installing the board in a Cooler Master mid-tower case.
Cons: As others have pointed out, the bios on this board is strange, but certainly not difficult to figure out. If you are used to working with the bios's found in Asus and Gigabyte, like me, it will take a few minutes to discover how it works, but this should not be a reason not to buy the board.
Other Thoughts: I had originally planned to purchased a Gigabyte motherboard, but as I was pricing AMD Phenom II CPU's, I saw the combo deal with this Biostar motherboard. If you consider the hefty immediate discount with $20 mail-in rebate and plus free shipping, this motherboard is FREE! I normally buy Gigabyte or Asus, but decided to take a chance and get the combo and so far I am happy with my decision.

1 Note of mention
Pros: Awesome!
Cons: For the good for throwing and kicking, the combo deal doesn't come with the 950 it comes with the 940 the 950 is a AM3 the 940 is a AM2, and your tech level is high?
Other Thoughts: Don't be like throwing and kicking, understand what your doing before you do it. If you do then you will love this board with the AM2+ 940!

Nice Board!
Pros: Cheap, installed in matter of less than 30 mins, ran flawlessly ever since. Bought it with the AMD940 as the combo deal and glad I did!
Cons: None. Not sure why "kicking and Throwing" has so much trouble with it, most people do read product manuals before they start to install anything computer related, I think his issue is personal no product related!
Other Thoughts: If your looking for a good cheap board that works, this is it!

Mobo excellent
Pros: Dirt cheap board after the discounts and rebates. The Phenom 940 that came with the combo had no compatibility problems, dunno what happen to the other people. But you don't need a am2 cpu to flash the bios. All you need to do is download the bios update(from another computer of course) onto a flash drive and update from there. Integrated sound a video were decent also. Overclocked to 3.6 but switched back to factory settings as I don't need the speed for what this computer is used for.
Cons: Had a problem installing XP. The install would freeze everytime windows tried to boot. Problem solved by clearing CMOS.

Not sure about this...
Pros: Layout is pretty good and was easy to install.
Cons: Apparently won't install any version of windows? Tried manually setting bios for CPU and memory, new memory, different CPU, different memory slots, SATA and PATA HDD. If you clear the bios the first time you run the install you'll get to a mouse pointer and blue background but then it just hangs. After that you won't even get that far. Tried Vista 64 Ultimate and Win7. Installs Linux Mandrake fine after you clear the bios from the windows attempts.
Other Thoughts: Might be nice if you could install the OS you want on it. Still trying though. Maybe I'll get it figured out.

Pros: 16gb DDR2 support (1066) 790GX Chipset Came $79 off with amd 940 bundle PCIe 2.0 support
Cons: I/O panel is a pain in the rear. Does not fit in an Antec 300 (as one reviewer had stated.) Decided to just put it on the outside and just let it sit there (which is fine as long as you don't move the rig) -1 egg for that
Other Thoughts: Worked fine out of box with my amd Phenom II 940 BE... Don't know what is up with the other reviewer's not working?
Currently have 4gb 1066 DDR2, and a 4890 in there and the drivers updated smoothly and everything is running fine.

Great for the price (combo deal)
Pros: Price, easy to set up, nice colors, one of the latest chipset (790GX), integrated video card, support for Phonom II 940 and above (after flashing the BIOS), up to 16Gb of memory.
Cons: The BIOS is a bit hard to get used to it but once you go through a few times it gets better. Flashing the BIOS went well under Windows XP however the program didn't want to work on Windows 7. I couldn't make my ATI 2600XT work on the board, I was posting but frozed there... I'll give it another shot later on.
Other Thoughts: I set it up in a Antec 300 with OCZ PSU 500W, Phenom II 940 OC 3.5GHz@1.35V and Patriot LLK PC2-6400 4*1Gb. So far so good.
Windows 7 experience: Q6600 OC 3.24GHz / Phenom II 940 OC 3.5GHz 7.3 7.4 7.3 5.9 6.2 4.1 6.2 5.1 5.9 5.2
So far I like it. Get 33C Idle and 54 full load with stock cooler

Impressive Combo!
Pros: Dirt cheap with the AMD 940 package deal. Despite other posts, the board is compatable with Windows XP (Home Edition). BIOS has loads of capability, and makes overclocking easy (AMD 940 CPU OC's to ~3.6GHz with provided fan cooling). On-board graphics, ethernet, and sound work well out of the box using provided drivers.
Cons: Case faceplate did not exactly fit the output ports - had to use a pair of small wire cutters to open up some of the holes. PC applications for board diagnostics, bios updates, and overclocking optimization did not work well with XP Home Addition - may not be an issue with other O/S.
Other Thoughts: Pick this up on combo with the AMD 940 for a blazing fast system with a price that can't be beat!

Are u kidding me
Pros: good for throwing/kicking
Cons: you can not boot a system with this board and the AM2+ Phenom 950 chip that was sold as a "combo". the only way to do this is boot it up using a am2 processor and update the bios which you can only learn by reading the manual since it is not mentioned anywhere on the product page
Other Thoughts: never buying a biostar again/ cannot use the board cause like most people i dont have a am2 processor laying around and am not willing to buy a processor that cost more than the motherboard itself just to use its advertised features with the comboed product. its no suprise biostar has such a bad rep and they have to give their products away for people to use them

Decent Mobo
Pros: The motherboard worked well with my amd phenom II 940. I had no problems installing the OS and everything seems to be in order except...
Cons: One dead USB port on the back. It's not enough to RMA it and wait a week for it to come back to me but it happens I guess.

Simple board that works
Pros: -Bios that has tons of OC options for multiple skill levels. (not to mention easy to flash!
-Works with 4 sticks of DDR2 @ 1066, despite the disclaimer
-Easy to install, and clearly marked
-Stable
-This, with the Phenom 940 combo that Newegg offers is an incredible price point
Cons: -Simple board (Only 1 PCI-E x16, only 4 rear USB)
-BIOS options aren't clearly defined, and it does take some digging to get to where you need to go. Need to configure memory options manually
-I feel that some plug placements on the board are awkward. In particular the main power, and IDE (not a biggie)
-Backplate sucks...although that's something I say about every single motherboard :P
Other Thoughts: This is a simple AM2+ DDR2 board. It's not flashy, it's not super sexy, it's not DDR3, etc. etc. But, if you can get it with a 940 in Newegg's deal, it is completely worth it!
Installs easy, and had no quirky problems loading up Vista x64 Sp2. Overclocked the 940 to 3.5Ghz without any effort at all (can go higher, but still breaking it in :P). I had a big fear of this not being able to run all 4 sticks of my DDR2 @ 1066, but it proved no problems.
Note: Before you complain about it not reading your memory at the correct speed, go into the BIOS and set it yourself to whatever the memory manufacturer specifies!
Overall, if you want a good price point, this with the 940 rules. But, to future proof things a bit more, you may want to look at an AM3/DDR3 board with Xfire (especially considering how cheap the video cards have become!)

Satisfied
Pros: Low cost, particularly in package deal with phenom II 940 CPU. Easily set up. Integrated graphics aren't too bad, for integrated graphics. Able to run Ubuntu 9.04. The memory stick/bios upgrade feature is neat, and worked well for me.
Cons: Echo other's comments about back panel cutout--doesn't fit audio connectors very well, but does work. Not the greatest quality of memory sockets, but you get what you pay for, I guess.
Other Thoughts: Had some corsair xms2 2x2 Gig modules, couldn't get them to work together. Don't know if it was a conflict w/video, or problem with memory sticks themselves. Ended up just using 1 stick, system seems stable. Hey, quad core, 3 Ghz, for a great price, not bad.

Pros: it was practically free with the phenom ii x4 bundle has all the BIOS options I could hope for, overclocks very well and 'cool & quiet' works great with overclocked chips
north and southbridge heatsinks are good quality, especially for this price range
Cons: If you have a large GPU, such as a gtx 200 series card you will block three sata ports, leaving only three accessible
only one pci express x16 slot
Other Thoughts: For what I paid, it was an amazing value but for its default price, Biostar has other mobo's with more features, and better quality
