Rating + 5 Great board!

Pros: This board was used for a customer replacement over 6 months ago. I know this person and the computer stays on nearly 24/7. the board has not failed yet. My advice to all--get a good power supply.

Cons: The manual is a bit scant but all I needed was the pin settings

Other Thoughts: good board for 462

Rating + 2 Frustrating mobo / video problems

Pros: The detailed bios made it easy to switch to the settings I needed to install Windows. It had the correct IDE,CPU,Power, and video cables and slots to plug into my tower.

Cons: I thought It was a halfway decent mobo until I Came across this problem with the VGA driver. Ever since that problem occurd I Havent been able to set the computer up. It also comes with a really crummy software CD. If I were you I wouldn't get this mobo its a piece of junk.

Other Thoughts: I might try to return this mobo for another one.

Pros: Worked great with my AMD XP 2600. Onboard video isn't bad..

Cons: Spent a week trying to install sound and USB drivers until I realized they weren't enabled in bios. I've been building computers for 20+ years, have never seen onboard components delivered disabled.

Rating + 4 Can't complain for the $$

Pros: I've read a lot of reviews on this board and was very hesitant to purchase, but as another newegger stated, "...there really aren't many boards to choose from in the Socket A (462) family. I too had a eMachines w3052, Semprom 3000+, 512 MB SDRAM, PC2700 machine whose board hit it. For those keeping notes, I had a (FIC) First International Computer K7MNF-64 mobo. My thoughts:
1. Reviewers stated mobo was DOA. I was concerned about this, but I knew newegg RMA would be easy, just a PIA. My board, thankfully, was not DOA.
2. Others stated the documentation was terrrible. I would generally agree, but I also agree with those readers who stated if you've done this before the documentation was sufficient. The included manual reviewed all the major onboard headers and that's (in my opinion) all you really need. For CPU/heatsink/Fan/Thermal Compound install, sorry, find other docs or rely on experience.
3. Others said they had to complete S/w rebuild after install. I had no problem with XP Pr

Cons: 1. Barebones board, no question, but whatcha expect. The technology alone is totally old school. You're not dealing with socket. Things would be easier if it were Socket (AM2), 754 or 939, but it's not.
2. I do agree with another reviewer, another onboard USB header would've been great. Since I had 4 front-side USB devices, (3) 2.0 ports, (1) media card reader, I needed a USB add-in card. I decided on the PCICARD, Koutech I/O Flex PFU331 RT. Overall, I think it was a good choice.
3. If board was DOA, I definitely would have been annoyed. Who wants to deal with RMA and who know if next board delivered will work. Could go on and on as one reviewer noted.

Other Thoughts: Not much. A couple of extra onboard headers on the uATX/mATX (To keep the newegg community happy)board would've been nice.

Rating + 5 Great mobo

Pros: Very good mobo i got a AMD athlon 2.0ghz processor on it and its the best motherboard i have ever had. It replaced an old motherboard that broke so this is a very good motherboard

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: well i have heard that socket A is pretty much going so i would recomend a AMD athlon 64 or something better than socket A.

Pros: Cheap. Installed fine, recognized all internal and external peripherals.

Cons: I managed to get Win XP installed but unexpectedly it fried. Literally. Burning smell in the air... I replaced it and the new Mobo works which confirms the cause. NO overclocking involved...

Other Thoughts: RMA process was easy ;-)

Pros: This mobo was an ez fit in new case. Drivers were ez to load from CD & works just fine w/o any problems. Might buy a 2nd to upgrade my Linux box.

Cons: Re-loading Windows! No 1394 connection on mobo!

Other Thoughts: Would recommend buying this mobo to anyone!

Rating + 4 I was lucky this time...

Pros: The only board I could find that matched my Socket 462 processor and memory and was in stock. Good replacement board for many E-machines that are 3 - 5 years old.

Cons: Had to re-install Windows before I could load the drivers that came on the included CD.

Other Thoughts: I too was nervous about buying this board after reading all the reviews about DOA boards. After not finding any other choices in stock anywhere I said a little prayer and went for it. Fortunately, the prayer was answered and it was fully functional. I was hoping Windows could start right up with my hard drive restored with the E-machines restore CD, but no such luck because the chipset is different and you can't load the chipset drivers without Windows running (Catch-22). It would be nice if these replacement motherboards came with bootable CDs that would load the drivers for you without having Windows running first.

Rating + 3 Nive for XP 3000 or lower

Pros: Nice layout, easy to work with. Mildly inexpecsive.

Cons: If you have an Athlon XP 3200+ this board does not support it. In fact, I could not find any boards that do (that have not been discontinued).

Other Thoughts: Even though the board would not post (I had a 3200+, not supported), I am holding onto it, just in case someone I know has an old Athlon 3000 or slower and needs it.

Pros: Cheap, Fits in a Micro-ATX case, i guess Socket A if you have 1 laying around

Cons: burned out after 4mo and audio module was shot. BIOS config has no OC features

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace my Compaq Motherboard which caught fire and this eventually burned out which had lasted me 2yrs. No 12v rail for the CPU

Rating + 3 Doesn't work with processors

Pros: Cheap...other than that I wouldn't know.

Cons: CPU compatibility minimal. Never got it to boot (POST, etc.). Tried with 2 different processors until I found the obscure CPU compatibility list on Foxconn's website (http://www.foxconnchannel.com/EN-US/upload/Compatibility/200603210945259669K7S741GXMG-6L.htm)

Other Thoughts: Would probably buy again if I knew my CPU would be compatible. NewEgg should probably consider adding the CPU compatibility lists to their product description.

Pros: Smaller Form Factor, Onboard VGA (which can share over 64MB RAM), low cost

Cons: Driver cd menu poorly produced, lack of instructions for BIOS and board settings (for pc newbies)

Other Thoughts: For the price, this board is solid. With any MB, you may get a great one or a bad one. This one was a "good catch".

Pros: Very nice assortment of features including on-board video which I didn't notice it offered. All the standard ports needed for a cheapo computer are there (sound, lan, usb, video, etc)

Cons: Failed with a known good processor resulting in a nice burning smell. Luckily nothing of mine was damaged except the board itself.

Other Thoughts: Would have worked well except the extremely minimal CPU support of the board.

Pros: It's a beautiful drop in for a broken eMachines.

Cons: It doesn't work. No POST no nothing. Same as the others. I guess I was feeling lucky but as another reviewer pointed out it has a 50% (or more) mortality rate.

Other Thoughts: It's too bad Newegg sells stuff like this. It's just that Socket A is in a bad place right now... obsolete!

Rating + 1 DOA

Pros: absloutly nothing

Cons: Just bought this last week, came in on monday and its DOA when I bought it I only did a quick glance at the reviews shown in front and notice it had 4 eggs. Now I wish I red every single review because now I did I believe I counted in the sum numbers of 48 motherboards being DOA and out of 118 Reviews, that basicly gives you 1 out of 2 boards purchased being bad. This product in my opinion should be discontinued.

Rating + 3 Husky little worker

Pros: Well....It got 189fps on fear with a sempron 2600+ barton, 1gb 333 ram, x1600xt...2360 on 3dmark06...almost as good as my pentium 2.8 running a 6800gt.....and double the ram....Plays BF2 and all the others with little to no hitch

Cons: Be careful with the overclock utilitys, board wont support 2.0ghz or more I found...didn't matter witch processor is in it...Stable at 1953mhz but not 2005ghz... Oh yeah! only 2 ram slots, and your windows xp .sys register Burns up when you overclock it too much, and reinstall windows!! Have fun!

Other Thoughts: Would have bought a board with more ram slots, This board runs hot, Coool the hell out of it and it will love you, Ala NH nightime air being forcefed into it... 40c...under load i've seen as high as 63c...If you know what to do, this little board will perform admirably with other asus oard and the like... Dont know about the others, but My board fired up, Have had it for a few months, Newest game titles and movies, No prob!

Pros: arrived quickly, easy setup, goes together easily. does basic funcitons easily, ie: internet, email, chatting.

Cons: not a good gamer. dropped from an average of 60FPS with my old motherboard to about 13-20FPS with this one.

Other Thoughts: there was sum overclocking utilities with the mobo that reaised my CPU frequency and gained about 10 FPS but it created more heat in my low ventilation case so i couldnt keep the overclock running.

Pros: Good replacement for eMachines. Supports 8X AGP. Has front audio & USB hook-ups.

Cons: Must have absolutely the WORST quality control imaginable. Read the other reviews. Appears to be over 50% failure rate. Mine lasted 5 minutes before "kicking" a few times and dying. (Note: used Athlon XP 2400+.)

Other Thoughts: Only take a chance if used as a replacement for eMachines or equivalent. Unfortunately, there aren't any good 2nd choices that I could locate.

Rating + 5 Bought as a combo with Duron 1.6

Pros: Booted right up without any issues. We'll see how well it does over the long haul! A very basic MB without a lot of frills but for the money who cares as long as it performs. I was surprised that the install went well after reading all of the other reviews about being DOA. I must be one of the lucky ones!

Cons: None at the moment.

Other Thoughts: Time will tell if this was a good purchase but if you would ask me today about this MB I'd say go for it if you don't want to spend much and you don't need high end frills. This is my second Foxconn MB. The first is still running great. BTW, Newegg rocks! I buy most of my PC parts from them and the service is great!! I got this MB in 1 day and I've never had an issue with returns!

Pros: Inexpensive, fits well in a Emachines case. Has 8x AGP slot so I can add a a video card soon.

Cons: AGP/video driver was no good on the disk that came with this mother board.

Cons: none, newegg is good to me:D

Other Thoughts: cheap if you need to replace a mobo, definately not for a gamer, but hey, my customers are computer illiterate.

Pros: Paired with the 1.6 Duron Combo and all is well. No problems at all. XP Pro smooth as silk all standard apps running great. Boots, runs surprisingly quick.

Cons: Picture in booklet showed wrong connection for front USB. Had to locate dual front USB connection on opposite side of board. DUH

Other Thoughts: CPU holding steady at 45C. I'm OK with that. Logo can be disabled in BIOS.

Pros: I understand pc's very well and the only thing I needed the manual for was the front panel connections. The board booted right up. Peoples boards dieing after a couple months are prolly from overclocking attemps made on a board that doesn't support overclocking. Don't spend 50 bux on a board and expect to rock the house with it. this is a simple home use pc board.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for!! My other rig is a opty165ccbbe0617,
a8nslipremium mobo,2x1gig of corsair xms pro, twin 6600gt's,2x160seagate sata3 in raid-0, rosewill 500 watt, all packed in a V-TECH X-FOCUS tower. AND that "ROCKS" the house!!!!!!!!

Pros: Performed above expectations for older board technology (Socket A). Onboard VGA is nice if you are waiting to save up for a video card.

Cons: Manual is very limited... Not a problem if you have experience installing boards.

Other Thoughts: Good purchase if you have an existing Socket A processor to place with board or are doing light to moderate work. Installed preowned..AMD XP 2700+ and Patriot Memory from Newegg.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: When I got this board in I installed a new CPU and memory. Board would not post. Removed CPU and memory and tested in a known good system. Both CPU and memory tested fine. This is the firt board that has come to me DOA. I shpuld have read the reviews more carefully. I am the CTO of a computer consulting firm, that builds hig end systems and does PC repair asd well. This was to be a quick fix for the customer and now I have to send the board back and get a replacement.

Other Thoughts: All in all: This MB is not worth the risk. Unless you have a lot of time on your hands to waste shipping and replacing boards.

Pros: Worked on the day it arrived. Onboard Video/Audio/LAN.

Cons: Just a minor booting problem where it gets stuck at the bios screen, but doesn't happen all the time.

Pros: The Foxconn K7S741GXMG-6L Socket A (Socket 462) SiS 741GX Micro ATX AMD Motherboard was very easy to install. I tested it outside the PC case. Fired right up. Tested and then installed board and hardware. Quiet running quick booting in WinXP. CD had the drivers needed. I used a AMD Athlon 2200 CPU. Good speed. FYI don't think this M/B will run with anything less than 2200 CPU. I had one sitting around and wanted to use it. There is still a good Socket A 462 board out there. Shipping was great. Placed order with GoodEgg Friday at 4:15 CST. UPS delived Wed mid-day. Good job rocking GoodEgg.

Cons: At this writing can"t think of any

Other Thoughts: Consider this M/B only if you have a AMD Athlon 2200 or better CPU.

Pros: Newegg makes it easy...

Cons: DOA.
Restocking fee + shipping on a dead motherboard.

Other Thoughts: The supply of Socket A MB's has dwindled to the bottom of the barrel, prematurely IMO.
Save yourself the trouble and pick up a newer generation set-up where the quality is better and pricing is more reasonable.

Pros: Great little mobo for what I needed. Had to rebuild a burned out machine and didnt want to spend alot of money on an old socket A CPU setup. This thing worked GREAT! booted right up, bios is cake.. no problems what so ever.

Cons: Its not an AM2... lol

I didn't even bother with the driver disk, it said something like 2004 so I just downloaded the new ones from the web. (The web site was set up very nice too)

Pros: A microATX Socket 462 board that's still available. AGP8X, 333mhz bus support, realtek audio...

Cons: Very small CPU support list on the web site. For example, it lists Athlon XP 2400 and 2800, but not 2600. I might actually be that picky. Board bends a little where you connect the IDE cables.

Other Thoughts: I guess I can't speak for everyone, but - it works for me.
Installed an Athlon XP 2800+ (I forget what core..) and came right on.

Rating + 1 DOA ??

Pros: Was able to easily contact MFG for tehnical support.

Cons: This link may answer many DOA issues - this motherboard will NOT support most CPUs older than Athlon 2100. (ie. XP 1400+) http://www.foxconnchannel.com/upload/Compatibility/200606271024427474K7S741GXMG.htm (VERY POOR MANUAL)

Other Thoughts: Suggest adding the CPU support list for this board as it is VERY misleading. Great reviews from those that work (right CPU?)

Pros: Comes with a faceplate for your mATX case.

Cons: I installed a working Duron 1.8GHz CPU in this mobo and it wouldn't POST. I tried pulling out all PCI/AGP cards, swapping memory, even using a different power supply. Still no POST.

Other Thoughts: Even though the NewEgg descrip says it will use a Duron, the mobo box doesn't list Duron as a compatible CPU... only the Athlon XP. This might be a printing error... and it might not. At any rate, NewEgg was very diligent in giving me an RMA for a DOA. I very much appreciate the customer service of NewEgg.

Pros: No problem with board so far, works fine with all feature for socket A CPU. Good enough for me untill I decide to upgrade to full fledge SLI support. Fits perfect to my tower and CPU snugs right in. DIMM socket holds my RAM pretty tight into socket. GREAT PRICE! LOVE IT!

Cons: Manual is not that detail but good enough.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you install all drivers into windows when using this board. Especially the AGP driver. If you want to use on board than install the driver for Onboard video also.

Rating + 3 Great!! (When it's working)

Pros: I purchased this board to replace my e-machines board. The processor I installed is an AMD Athlon XP 3000+. Performed very well after I got the 2nd one. Pros are: Low price, fits E-machines case perfectly, performs relatively well.

Cons: RELIABILITY, RELIABILITY, RELIABILITY!!!!! I have been through 3 boards in 3-4 months!! First one, DOA. Second one, worked great for 2 months, then one day PC would not boot up. Currently running on my 3rd one.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully, this will be the last one I have to replace. If this one dies, I'm getting something else!! Thanks again Newegg for not hassling me about the RMAs. I don't think anybody else would have treated me better. Keep up the good work!

Rating + 5 Very good choice

Pros: Extremely easy to install. Everything was well marked on the board. The manual had a quick reference photo that was well marked and easy to read.

Cons: If this is the first time installing a motherboard, the manual is lacking on installation instructions. It doesn't explain what some of the things are you're hooking up. It's written for folks who know what they are doing which is fine for most of us, but not good for the first time builder.

Other Thoughts: I would certainly purchase this item again should I need another board anytime soon. I had a problem with shipping through UPS. I paid the $20 for overnight as I had my poor box spread all over the kitcen table. The driver claimed he stopped at my house but no one ansered. At the time he marked the attempt, my wife waz sitting 5 feet from the front door on the couch. I had to drive all they way to the distibution center about 45 miles away to pick up my board and tell UPS what I though of their drivers. I really wish NewEgg would switch to Fed Ex.

Pros: Good features, easy to install. Reasonable price.

Cons: Manual doesn't really explain anything. It's basically just a collection of pictures of differents parts of the motherboard. Not a problem though, if you have a good idea of what you're doing.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace my dying motherboard on a Emachine with AMD XP2800. So far, everything works great, just had to use the install cds that came with Emachine and install some drivers from the motherboard utility cd.

Pros: Affordable.

Overclockable (CPU).

Full Probe (temp, fan(s), voltage, and alarm settings).

Stable (after bios flash)

Cons: system crashed many times but updated bios and system runs great.

cpu overclock resets after system shutdown.

Other Thoughts: I used this board in the computer I built for my girlfriend. Even though it runs an old style CPU 462 pin whatever you connect up to it as long as the components meet the motherboard compatablilty specs the board handles them very well without any problems.

Pros: Price. Would have looked nice in the Foxconn case I bought for it.

Cons: 1st board DOA. 2nd board DOA

Other Thoughts: After getting an RMA replacement board back DOA, I never even bothered to send it back for a second RMA to get a third board as the cost of shipping keeps adding up and the odds of another DOA aren't worth what it costs to send it back. If you simply must have a socket A board, pick a different one. Otherwise, you can find a cheap combo and get onto a 64 bit technology for a few bucks more than the cost of this board and two or three shipping charges until you get one that works.

Pros: Does what I needed it to. Got a superboot bios option for a faster boot, its cool if you want to use it. Comes with its own overclock utility like most now. No problems with compatibility out of any of my hardware.

Cons: Bios isnt for overclockers... Not sure if its the board not reading right, or is causing my cpu to run hot but... My sempron 3000+ is running at high 50's idle... Before old motherboard went out, it ran high 30's - low 40's idle.

Other Thoughts: Boards running:

Pros: I had no problems at all during install or during the past year. Using as a ultra-budget websurfer/kids computer with a Sempron 2500 & 256MB PC 2700 (yea, I'm cheap!). Does all you expect for the price of admission. Micro ATX fit perfectly into a 1998 vintage NEC box that was running a K6-2 until it croaked. Shipping and service were Eggcellent!

Cons: Nada

Other Thoughts: For a bit more than a Ben Franklin, I was able to get a usable 'puter that the kids can mash on, that surfs the turf, and will run MAME emus of NeoGeo games... not too shabby!

Pros: Went in without a glitch. I replaced an old mother board that went bad in an E-machine S1940. It was a perfect match.

Cons: However good old Microsoft XP freaked out cause of the different motherboard and blue screened on the the first boot up after installation. I will have to re-install Windows XP and I know I'll have to call Microsoft and re-activate Windows cause of the hardware change. I hope that Vista rids itself of this annoyance.

Pros: easy installation, cheap price, good layout, good onboard video

Cons: the manual

Other Thoughts: I used this board to replace a nforce2 ultra board from leadtek that i payed almost xxx dollars for years ago. I was pleasantly surprised at how good of a board it was, it actually seemed faster than the nforce2 it replaced. The onboard video is good, but since it was so fast i put a old radeon 9600 on it so when my wife is not using it, i can use it as a backup gaming pc.
