Pros: i bought this to upgrade from my 64mb agp videocard, it works like a charm and sped up my old dell dimension 8200 did everything great :] no bios setups or anything and i tweaked it with riva tuner to make it better while playing games. overall great card if you want to replace something old or upgrade from something really old
Cons: None, shipping was free lol and the ati media player stole all my music prefrences and it was annoying to set up what program gets what file type
Other Thoughts: i hope my new 1gb 8600gt works on my new comp when my new power supply comes

Smooth
Pros: Great upgrade for an older machine with only PCI slots, and the price is right!
Cons: None of the additional software worked right. I uninstalled and re-installed numerous time. I usually pride myself on my ability to get anything to work, but I gave up on this.
Other Thoughts: I skipped the additional software and just loaded the driver. Works great on watching DVD's. I took a star off the rating for the bugging software that came with it.

Random Curiousity
Pros: Just a random couple of questions... Does anybody know how this graphics card will work with the H264 codec? My onboard definately wont play it even after my RAM upgrade.. I am a sad PC owner that only has PCI slots as well no AGP and PCIe
Cons: *Unsure* I have read most of the recent reviews and they say its good for media but I dont know if it will help me with the H264 codec or not.
Other Thoughts: I am hoping to upgrade to this if it will fix me media issues.

While they last....
Pros: The onboard video died, had a PCI slot, enter the ATI Radeon 9250. There was a small glich on the install but that was operator error on working in the BIOS of the computer. Need a replacement card?? While they last..
Cons: did what I needed! so 'Cons'... none!

Just what I needed.
Pros: Very easy to install. It is just what i needed to raise my fps in WoW from 6 to always above 20. Well worth the price.
Cons: The box was hard to open. =p
Other Thoughts: Well packaged.

Works but a pain installing
Pros: Cheap. It works after it is installed.
Cons: Had several problems with the install. Had weird video output issues from the card and had to physically remove and start all over a couple times. After I finally got it installed it works.
Other Thoughts: It is cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Excelent choice for the budget gamer
Pros: very nice upgrade from intel onboard video, brought my FPS in counter-strike up from 30-40 fps avg to 70-90 fps avg! Very cheap upgrade and did what I hoped it would do.
Cons: no fan, but not really a con if you are going for something that is silent

Why all the whining?
Pros: Excellent bang for the buck, works under Vista... to paraphrase the dude on the latenight enhancement commercials "what canI say it just works".
Cons: None to speak of... It's a lower price vid card, so it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but concidering what it is this isn't really a con
Other Thoughts: YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! As with all video chipsets you have to know what chipset you have to download the correct drivers. You also don't blame your own inabilities or problems you have with a company on the product... People learn what a REVIEW is!!! And on a final note do not blame hardware compatability issues that you create by mixing components that are not recommended to be used together on the hardware. There are reasons that Microsoft has an HCL for each version of windows.

No Vista Driver Avaible
Pros: Inexpensive, Passivate cooling (= no noise), small form factor.
Cons: No vista driver avaiable from ATI site.
Other Thoughts: My coworker gave me her broken old HP Compaque DC5000 Desktop PC, which I somehow fixed and installed Vista Home basic. It didn't have any PCI-E/AGP slot so I purchased this one and went to ATI website to download the Vista driver ... it simply ain't there folks.

Perfect card for the plain desktop
Pros: Excellent 2D performance. Fast 128-bit memory interface. Clean VGA output. Solid HW-assisted DVD playback.
Cons: No DVI. 1080i MPEG2 playback doesn’t seem to have adaptive deinterlacing (it looks like bob).
Other Thoughts: I bought this card for plain 2D desktop use in XP and it excels at that. The included drivers are from July 2004, but I used them because unlike the modern drivers they have a non-.NET control panel. The driver CD includes ATI’s MPEG2 decoder, so I downloaded the newest MPEG2 decoder from ATI’s website (you need their CD to download their latest decoder, so this was a nice bonus). If you need a simple 2D card for use in XP and no DVI, this card is perfect. It’s worth spending the extra few dollars to get the faster 128-bit memory interface like this card has.

good product but bad company
Pros: product is working good but the company is not as good as we think about . it is difficult to contact them.their rebate system is complete failure . its very near to fraud.
Cons: otherwis.e the product is working
Other Thoughts: i think this rebate system must be stooped if someone want to give rebate it must be at the time of purchase.

Ok, but dont expect much
Pros: very inexpensive, easy to install and dl latest drivers for (do not use the ones on the CD, they are way outdated). Good for dual monitors/tv connections. Plays lower mid level games ok, Pirates!, GTA san andreas, The Ship, things of that nature. Anything higher, forget it. it either will not play it, or the framerate will be so terrible as to make it practically unplayable (Resident Evil 4, Medieval 2 Total War, so on) NOT for soemone who would like to just walk into Best Buy and snag a game to play, you gotta check the specs. Had mine for almost 3 years and it is just now beginning to wear out, and i work it hard. Also good for video editing, such as Sony Vegas. DVD's and such look perfectly fine
Cons: DDR RAM is bogus and slow; it never really feels like you have 256 MB of RAM in the thing. the vast majority of popular games either will not play on it or will play terrible, you definitely have to stick to weaker games or older games. Video editing is okay, but the DDR RAM slowness can create a lag in playback sometimes. ATI software can put a bunch of bloatware on your PC with useless programs you dont need if you arent careful
Other Thoughts: not a bad buy at all for under 40 bucks. just dont expect much. expect low to low medium gaming, good dvd playback and good video editing. would be good for anyone seeking a second monitor on their PC, or for a young kids computer rig so they can play some kid games (those arent graphically intensive and run perfectly)

It's great if you don't expect too much...
Pros: So to be simple and not too technical...this is a quality card for those limited to PCI. As an old-school and fairly simple gamer, this card runs Quake 3 Arena perfectly, Halo to medium-high settings, Stronghold 2, Call of Duty. Movies look fine as well.
Cons: For its uses as a card to PCI users, this is a great card if you know you can't expect too much. Have some fun fragging in Q3 because you can't do much else.
Other Thoughts: Radeon x1300

Just for informational purposes.
Pros: If you're installing this on a legacy Windows 9x machine, I guarantee you this card will work just fine for displaying plain images (HDR imagery and such aren't going to look their best), word processing, and playing Doom or Quake at the most. Please understand that PCI is an old technology that is fading away from modern computers due to its inability to keep up with modern graphical workloads everybody puts on their GPU and many sound cards are now made for PCI Express x1. It won't be long before the PCI bus itself is gone, Microsoft is already working on making that happen. Don't be too harsh on this card because it can't play Crysis or Oblivion or even let you use Vista Aero. This card is obsolete and should only be used in legacy, obsolete computers for basic functionality and playing those old games that own't work with modern hardware, like old 80s D&D games. I can also guarantee you the heatsink on the GPU is superfluous.
Cons: PCI video cards are all completely obsolete today. To Rockerboy: No, I'm not surprised Aero isn't working for you if you're using this card. The PCI bus isn't up to the task of doing anything graphically modern. And to the guy with Windows ME: Don't be mad that there aren't any ME drivers, ME was the worst OS Microsoft has ever written and there is no reason for anybody to have it today. They gave people free upgrades to XP for a short while if they had ME because it was so bad. It's time to upgrade to at least XP if you want to do anything. ME is so buggy and unstable I'm surprised you've been able to put with it until 2008.
Other Thoughts: Please know that I have not used one of these for many years, I simply wrote this to be informational because the people who are writing bad reviews for it don't seem to know what they're talking about and can't critique this card properly.

Good for an oldcomputer
Pros: For a system with all pci slots......DELL!!!.....Runs good. You should go past games like Civilization IV or Battlefield Vietnam because they might not play well or it isn't supported as a card.
Cons: An old graphics card Really only good to upgrade on board graphics with older systems.
Other Thoughts: There might be slightly better pci cards if you look (I didn't).

Does a little bit of Everything
Pros: Can perform better than integrated Graphics because it has its own dedicated line of memory. Excellent for Media, its OK for gaming as long as you drop its resolution to the bare minimum.
Cons: The Drivers for this disk aren't very good, it slows down a lot of the applications you will be running. This also won't play any modern games anymore because ATI ceased their Drivers support for cards below the Radeon 9550 Series.
Other Thoughts: I brought this for $120, 4 Years ago. I would recommend that you use the Omega Radeon Drivers instead the disk because they are better suited for maxing out the performance of this card, in addition - they have a simple ATI taskbar in which allow you to overclock easily. Remember that this is a PCI card, Not a PCI-EXP or AGP. There is NO way this can run GAMES in High resolution (1152 x 862 and up) without slowdowns.

A perfect solution to a real problem.
Pros: Some of us purhcased computers with no AGP or PCI Express slots. Some of the less expensive models were built this way. But we sill want to play games, use today’s more intensive applications. Instead of doing a motherboard swap, get this card! All in all it’s a great card, will play most games, not the super high end ones, but it handles pretty much everything. We use it to model 3D objects for example. It is quiet, no fan to make noise. Newegg virtually drops it by your door within a day.
Cons: You have to open your case to install it!? Kidding.. None really, really, all round good card.
Other Thoughts: PCI, blah blah blah. Look, here is an idea! Want a 3 monitor setup? We purchased a dual monitor PCI E card, and added this baby, and we have 3 monitors, widest desktop ever. And it works SEAMLESSLY even during games. And it fits the PCI. Can’t get a better PCI card for the money. Period.

Does not display at 1680X1050
Pros: Price...PCI (for an older Dell)
Cons: Only one available widescreen resolution.
Other Thoughts: I expected this card to handle a few widescreen resolutions, according to the box 1920x1080 is the only one. RMA'd

pretty good card for them money
Pros: an awesome card for the money. i dunno why it says directx 8.0 when it says directx 9.0 on the actual box. either it's newegg's mistake or i have a newer version of the card
Cons: none really. doesn't get that hot for me.
Other Thoughts: those of you who still have the box could you confirm if it's 8.0 or 9.0 cuz mines says 9.0 for directx

Replaces integrated graphics
Pros: Quiet, S-Video, Composite-out.
Cons: DirectX 8.
Other Thoughts: Bought this card to replace integrated graphics on an HP Pavilion A6110N which I downgraded to Windows XP on from Windows Vista. I like how it has lots of V-RAM and how it can let my CPU work on tasks instead of my CPU working on tasks an my GPU. The HP itself had a very poor integrated nVidia GeForce GO 8651 which shared 128Mb.

Not good for old PCs
Pros: I purchased this card so I could turn one of my old PCs (P3 850) into a media server to connect to a TV. The problem is that even though claims to support PCI, it won't work if your machine is too old. ATI support says it doesn't support certain power supplies. If you google this card you'll see that others have the same problem. If you have a newer machine, then the card works fine. It worked fine on my 2.8Ghz P4 so all wasn't lost.
Cons: Not compatible with older motherboards.

Good card for mild gaming
Pros: Nice core clock, and a substantial amount of memory, PCI, it's good for older motherboards. I put it in my Dell Dimension 2400, with 2.8ghz intel and 512mgb of RAM. I ran Doom 3 and Half life 2 on high settings with little lag from HL 2, Doom 3 was playable.
Cons: Runs hot due to no fan.
Other Thoughts: In order to play these games, you need the latest drivers from ati.com.

Pros: its PCI, 256MB, doesnt require power source, runs some new games...
Cons: its PCI, low bandwith, can only compete with AGP 2x, low memory clocks, GDDR1, 128bit, runs hot because of no fan on heatsink, DX 8.1, no areo support in vista, have to use generic MS drivers, not vista drivers for this card...
Other Thoughts: will run HL2 on medium, DooM3 on medium, halo and halo 2 on max, ut2k4 on max, rct3 on low :( Ive have had this card for over 2 years now, works pretty good for what its supposed to do

Not for gaming
Pros: It is what it is. It is good if you have an old computer with an AGP slot with no PCI and that is it. So dont expect alot.
Cons: I dont have this card but just by looking at it you can tell its not for gaming. (DX8), It would be good for an old computer to use for media but that is it.
Other Thoughts: Buy an 8500GT its about the same price, and is alot better it will be able to do games, and media

Radeon 9250- not a gamer
Pros: This is probably the best card out right now for the home media center.
Cons: If you want gaming, you're out of luck. Don't even bother buying a game, nothing but blackscreens and glitchy picture. The passively cooled GPU won't stay cool enough with a home fan lodged next to it.
Other Thoughts: MEDIA CENTER --- EXCELLENT GAMING --- SPEND YOUR MONEY ON A GAME, NOT THIS

Radeon 9250
Pros: This card is an excellent choice for anyone who wants a home media center as it runs with moderately high resolutions.
Cons: When I bought this, I got it for gaming, and I have to say, as one of the few passively-cooled cards, this is terrible for newer games. 3 year old games on highest settings will challenge this card. It can run modern games (with a giant fan in the side of ur PC). Yes, it does get very hot when not actively cooled WHICH IT CANNOT DO ITSELF, IT IS PASSIVELY COOLED
Other Thoughts: It is a very small video card, good for a small case or if you need the slot next to it.

Fair Performance
Pros: Good card for the casual gamer. Good for and old PC. Runs Flight Simulator 2002 at 35 fps on high settings no prob. runs BF 1942 on medium settings at 20 fps. For the cost and specs good low end card.
Cons: Don't run Flight Simulator X with this card, you will get maybe 10 fps on super low settings. Does get quiet hot on big games such as Halo and Battlefield 1942.
Other Thoughts: Biostar MVI7Z mobo, 300 watt psu, 1.5 GB Kingston PC3200, AMD Sempron 3000+ 2.0 GHz

ATI Radeon 9250 256 mb PCI
Pros: Cheap upgrade to play some modern games, its better then integrated video graphics. Course when i bought mines, the store price was $xxx. I can play UT2K4 on medium settings at 1024X768 resolution.
Cons: That there are some slowdowns when playing videogames because its PCI.
Other Thoughts: Testbed: Dell 2350 2.0 Ghz P4 processor 768 mb of ram. (1 256 stick of pc 2100, and 1 515 stick of pc 2700) and the Radeon 9250

outdated but decent
Pros: I was able to play Counter Strike: Source and Half Life 2 at high settings and the screen resolution to 1024x768 with CS:Source and 800x600 for Half Life 2. It's an ok video card and it does keep the desktop looking sharp with my pics.
Cons: It CANNOT play Battle Field 2. It could play FEAR but terrible fps even at the lowest settings the graphics suck. It cant handle higher def games... Also, if your motherboard has onboard video chip DISABLE IT!!! I cant tell you how many hours it took me to realize that my first time!! ALL COMPUTERS HAVE A VIDEO CARD OR CHIP!!!! Dont forget to get the drivers because if you dont get the drivers the game would freeze and then crash.
Other Thoughts: It's PCI so dont expect too much of it. The card got cheaper when I baught it a year ago :C

Good for old PCs
Pros: This is a great card for older PCs. I have bought 2 of them so far. I have used both of them in Dell computers that only have PCI slots. The first one was a 2.4GHz Celeron with 512MB RAM and it was a significant upgrade from the Intel integrated graphics. And the second PC.. well, it hasn't arrived yet, but I bought a fan to put on it in hopes of overclocking it a little bit.
Great if you don't have the money to spend on a new PC.
Cons: None, as it is for older PCs.

Great Card
Pros: I really like this card. It really surprises people when I'm playing CSS because I get an averege of 20 or 30fps on the game along with VERY HIGH settings. It only plays that well for 2 reasons: 1) It doesn't process HDR or bloom. And doesn't look spectacular. 2) I have 1 gig of ram. I'm thinking of switching to the 5700LE because I heard it can play BF2.
Cons: WARNING! This thing CANNOT play BF2. I have tried and tried repeatedly installing and playing the demo and the real game on disc. But each and every time it decreases the Hardware Acceleration and makes it unplayable. (Meaning you can't get to the Main Menu)
Other Thoughts: If you have a Bad Dell with PCI slots ONLY, go with this card. It plays CSS, HL2, DOD:S very well. Don't expect to play BF2 though. Thats why I'm thinking about switching to the 5700LE.

Old Card
Pros: I bought this card 3 years ago for $xxx, and even to this day it runs most games just fine. I have been perfectly content with this card, and is a good buy for those who only have PCI.
Cons: This card is OLD! Most newer games, it will not be able to handle. If you are the type of person who plays The SIMs or something, than this is fine, but for FEAR or Oblivion, it wont even come close.
Other Thoughts: This card is outdated, nice, but outdated. I personally would just look at getting a motherboard with PCI express X16 and go with a newer card. Overall, just old technology, and not worth the money unless you have no other option. Not to sound full of myself, but I know what im talking about and i would take my advise into consideration!

....Why get this card?
Pros: None
Cons: Low Clocks, 4 pixel pipelines, Open GL 1.3, only PCI
Other Thoughts: Assuming your board also has X16 getting this card isnt smart, you can get a 6600 for less with higher clocks, more pipelines, new GL, and overall better construction. DONT GET THIS CARD ITS A RIP OFF

A decent card for older games, and perfect for someone stuck with PCI
Pros: This card handles most older games decently, and provides the perfect step-up from integrated graphics.
Cons: Well, it could have a fan... (not that it would really do much, I just have a cramped case)
Other Thoughts: I got a computer from my dads work, pieced together some components, and needed a PCI video card.
System: Celeron 2.4ghz, 400mhz 512mb DDR 333 SB Live! 24-bit
(not great, but it keeps the younger ones off the faster computers)

Rocking Card
Pros: I'll tell ya! This card is most excellent. Definitly not a bad card. I get decent fps on DOD:S and CS:S. Ranging from 20fps to 30fps. Dips down to 10fps if you have a lot of bots, but it's ok if you don't use alot of bots. Oh yeah, believe it or not, I got 120fps with this card in HL:2..........credits. Unbelievable eh?
Cons: I guess if compared to a Nvidia 7900GTX or Radeon X1900XTX, its kind of bogus, but it does well for PCI.
Other Thoughts: Great Card. A+. Intel Pentium 4 (2.8 GHZ) 1 GB memory, and a 120 GB HD.

It's held through
Pros: It can run older (but fun) pc games. I've owned it for about 2 years and are very pleased with the performance it still gives.
Cons: It's an older card with low specs.
Other Thoughts: I love ATI

card O.K
Pros: This card's decent doesnt hold a solid fps in anything.. i would recoment saving your money for a better computer if you only have pci bus my counter-strike use to get a solid 30 fps.. this raised it but goes up and down no matter what i do...
Cons: hangs in counter-strike, counter-strike cz, and in cs:s dont buy this card if you play these games BAD
Other Thoughts: DONT BUY THIS CARD

Best way to upgrade computer with no AGP/PCI-e
Pros: Plays the latest games admirably with the graphics settings in about the medium range, and plays anything older than I'd say 6 months on pretty high or very high settings well. Software installed without a hitch on XP-pro. I honestly could not expect this card to be any better. I haven't tried overclocking, maybe someone else out there could squeeze some more juice out of it. Doesn't require anything you don't already have, i.e. 350+ watt power supply, etc, so you won't have to spend more money. Any amateur will be able to install it without a problem.
Cons: By the end of 2006, this may not be able to play the latest games well enough anymore, but by that time, if your pc only has PCI upgradeablility for your graphics, it will be time for a new one anyways. Get this card to hold you over until you can afford a new computer if this is the case for you, because it's cheap enough.
Other Thoughts: My Compaq Evo D500 has no PCI-e, and only had a 4x low profile AGP slot, so this was definitely the best option for me. I have a Pentium 4 1.8, 512MB ram in a very outdated system and I can still play games well. Any problems I have are a result of a 400mhz FSB and a 256kb L2 cache on my processor and the use of pc133 RAM by my motherboard. Anybody with say a Dell 2400 or 3000 dimension that doesn't come with an AGP slot on the motherboard (like my father in law) this is going to be your best bet, and it will work much better for you than it does for me because of your more modern sysetm. Obviously though, I wouldn't recommend this for the ultimate gaming guru, just the casual gamer who doesn't want to spend a lot on their graphics and be able to play most of the latest games.

ugh- dont buy... just upgrade
Pros: dont waste time or money. its not worth it when you can just upgrade comp. if this card is the best card for you system then you should get a new system cause this card is slow
Cons: Catalyst software is hard to install because you need to disable old graphics and then install and it is a confusing program. ATI Player deleted almost 400 of my songs when it tried to find media to add. that was a bummer and there was no way to recover the lost media
Other Thoughts: I returned this card and built a new system with a XFX 7800GT card and it has 20 pixel pipelines and this has 4...tisk, tisk

great card
Comments: i bought this card from new egg. runs everyone of my games like it should be tweak it right and get what you want out of it.
here are my specs so you guys can run it the way i did
intel r celeron 2.93 ghz 760 ram 260gb hard drive space vx74 moniter radeon 9250 256mb pc interference
so try getting that but i suggest upgrading the processor and the ram so try getting close to that. this card is better than the nvidia fx5500. so any one who has a pci interfernce slot this would be the card for you, mostly all hp computers now come with pci slots if your getting a normal home computer.

good card, just outdated
Comments: This card served me well over the last year getting me through Half Life 2 and FarCry (both on relatively low settings). It's a breeze to install and the Catalyst Control Center is a very detailed and handy tool. Now with the new games rolling out (FEAR, BF2) this card cannot keep up. I would recommend this card for less intensive applications like Halo or GTA which it can handle fine. But since it only supprts DX8 don't expect too much to work on it in the future. I'm about to upgrade to a 6800GT. Can't Wait.

Surprisingly powerful
Comments: I bought this card about 6 months ago. At first i thought it was a piece of junk. I thought i could only play Halo, and The Sims 2 on low settings. However, I adjusted the settings and found out it works best for me in the games when i play in 800X600 pixels. Now i can play Halo, the Sims 2, and Roller Coaster Tycoon on full graphics. I was surprised at the power in this little guy. Its a good buy, especially for the price. I am not sure the 800 pixel thing would be the same for everyone, but hey it helped me.

PCI = Pretty good
Comments: I ordered this card after realizing my PC only had PCI slots. I was skeptical at 1st about the PCI video card, just like the others. Esspecially since I was planning on getting the Radeon 9800Pro, but after recieving this and playing Halo on high settings, and Matrix Online on medium settings. I must say I am impressed with the little guy.
It performs great esspecially with a high demanding game like Matrix Online, on a PC like mine. I've played the game for hours with barely any or sometimes no lag. The game looks 10X different than what it did when I had my onboard video playing it.
Here is my specs of my PC so you know how well this card can handle a high demanding game...
Intel Celeron Processor (2.80GHz) 512MB RAM 80GB Hard Drive 17" CRT (Standard with the Emachine PC I have) monitor ATI Radeon 9250 w/ 256MBs
So, it's pretty impressive, and it'll hold me 'til I build my 1st PC.
Newegg/FedEx got it here a day early like it would seem they always do.

Very good card
Comments: Card was easy to install, clockwork. I was doubtful once i found out i didint have an agp slot, that i would find a good card because agp is the way to go. However after i slammed it in and tossed in a few games to test it, i was pleasentlly suprised, half life 2 wouldnt even run on my stupid integrated card, but here runs at 40fps on better that medium quality havent tried high quality yet, and it looks AWESOME, and other games should be a sinch, it says directx 9.0 on the box however, but this is a 8.1 card, they kinda fool you, the hardware is 8.1 but the software can b 9.0 :) Great card that i highly recomend if you only have a pci slot. This and the geforce are the best out right now.
