Does exactly what we need it to
Pros: I work at a surveying company where we deal with harsh amount of point clouds in the hundred of billions. We also do high-res orthography up 1.5" resolution pictures. I have installed this card on three computers and none of them have had any hook-ups, and all worked better than we expected to. The only thing that you need to be aware of is that this card requires two power connectors to be connected to it, so be sure that you have a beefy power supply with lots of PCI-E power connectors.
Cons: None - Read Below
Other Thoughts: This this is HUGE....weighs over 5 kilos and is so long, that I bought a case specifically to handle it's length. This card will not fit in most mid-size cases that have the hard drives running in line with the case, as opposed to having them be perpendicular. Be sure you have a nice big case before purchasing this card.

Amazing
Pros: Incredible. I couldn't be happier. The first game I installed on my new rig was Counter Strike: Source. I consistantly have 300fps (the max CS will allow you to have) with max resolution and graphics all the way up. Every game I toss at this beast chews it up and spits it out with incredible performance. I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this card.
Cons: It runs hot, but that's not a problem. I purchased a COOLER MASTER HAF 922 case and it keeps that baby under control. I also installed two seperate fans into the side panel just in case. In all...I'd say I have zero complaints.
Other Thoughts: Get it.

Great video card.
Pros: Works great. Never get below 80 fps in Team Fortress 2 on highest graphics settings, average fps is between 90 and 100, and that's with a movie playing on a second monitor.
Cons: Every once it a while TF2 will stutter for a second, but then return to normal. Only happens like once every couple of weeks though, and I'm not sure if its even caused by the video card.
Other Thoughts: Specs: Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower ASUS M4A79T Deluxe AM3 DDR3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard SAPPHIRE 100251SR Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB 512-bit (256-bit x 2) GDDR5 CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core mushkin 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Windows XP Pro 64-bit SP2

sweet
Pros: this card is amazing. most of the time on crysis warhead i can get 80fps and that is insane. no problem with heat alittle hot when its on auto fan 84c but when i turn it on manual at 52% i can keep it around 54C i love this card. and i think the bigger the card the better lets people know that you mean it when it comes to gaming. love this card!
Cons: eats my 1000w power supply alive

Best card I've ever owned
Pros: Absolutely amazing. I put every game on their highest settings and, combined with the other pieces I bought, the games run flawlessly. I have had no driver issues of any kind with this card.
Cons: Incredibly hot. The automatic fan control on this thing is useless. Don't ever use that setting. I set mine up to run at 70% all the time just to keep this thing withing playable status. The small room it's kept in is a completely different climate, so I'm going to get some nice high-RPM fans in my full tower to keep this baby nice and cool.
Other Thoughts: Other than the heat issue and the automatic fan control, this card is amazing.

Questionable
Pros: Very quiet, CCC is easy to understand and use.
Cons: Can't play half of my games for the life of me. Getting error "Video Driver got Stuck in an Infinate Loop" on the majority of my Steam games. Troubleshot for a few hours to no avail. L4D and Assassin's Creed? Not gunna work. However, I'ev got Windows Vista 64 bit and apparently it works totally fine with XP.

Not for Warcraft
Pros: Easy to install.
Cons: Warcraft does not support the crossfire setup of the 2 cores. On my 22" monitor running 1600x1050, I should be able to play at max settings, but could not at half of max in raids or FPS would drop below 20. Also raised the temp of my case by 20 degrees f, even with 2 x 90mm and one 120mm fans all on high.
Other Thoughts: The board is so long it covers 2 of my sata ports on my MOBO. Based on WoW not performing well I will be returning the card and likely getting a 285 instead.

Amazing card!
Pros: Greatest card I've ever owned. I run all of my games with everything on its maximum settings. Crysis runs so smooth combined with the other components I bought.
Cons: Hot HOt HOT! This card generates SO much heat! I could just use this as a climate control device for heat purposes. The automatic fan control on the card is absolute garbage. If I turn off manual control the fan barely speeds up when the card should basically be melting. In my book that is a definite no-no. I didn't pay $500 just to have this card melt and become a very expensive paperweight. Other than the heat issue this card is FANTASTIC!

You get what you paid for
Pros: Powerful, Price, 2 Gig of video ram.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I have been using this card for 6 months now. Card had been working perfectly. Due to my monitor, I can only run games at 1920*1080 and every game I have tested runs smooth with all the settings at max. I don't know why people complain about the heat or fan noise, I can't hear my PC when I have my headphone on or when my sound system is active. I am using this video card on a custom built Intel Quadcore 6600, 2 gig of ddr ram with Windows 7 RC PC. This video card have so much more to offer compare to geforce gtx 295 with 120 dollars less and not to mention directx 10.1 support on FarCry 2 and Stalker Clearsky! Buy this card and please don't overpriced geforce gtx 295, price difference isn't worth it.

Pros: Card can run any game at 1920 x 1080 no problem. I've hooked this up to my TV and played Unreal Tournament 3 topped out. So far any and every game I have played has been laid to waste by this beast of a video card.
Cons: Heat is a little bit of an issue, Catalyst doesn't come with any fan control software so you either have to do a little profile mumbo jumbo or just get a program online to do that for you.
Other Thoughts: Although the heat is a little high when gaming, my card have never gone over 80c. Usually I turn the fan up to %60 and it stays around 40c. Be warned, this card is almost a foot long and weighs about 5 lbs, it is a beast. I love how the box said "Prepare to Dominate". Fan can get pretty loud when turned up but I just crank up my volume and the fan noise just fades into the background. Well worth the investment

Pros: Great cooling design that blows all hot air out of back of case not into the case itself. It aslo has a builtin feature called sideport which hasn't been turned on yet but should boost performance. Runs everyone of my games on maximum settings without a hitch. The only thing is I need to OC my processor a little bit to stop bottle necking the card. Great card with good features.
Cons: Runs hot in my case even with 2 250mm fans blowing right in front of it. But never had any problems with it. LONG!!!! almost a foot long had to buy a new case for it.
Other Thoughts: OCing your processor is almost a must with cards like this even if you have i7s.

Asusgamer
Pros: Plays games on very high settings. Capable of very high FPS at just about any resolution. I game at 1920 x 1080 in FPS and MMO games such as WoW, CoD4, AA2, AA3, EVE Online, and Age of Conan.
Cheap... This card is cheap but its sad to say that I either got a bad card or they are bad cards... I will not buy a Radeon card again after this though.
Cons: - Problem 1 - This thing runs Extremely hot. Mine has spiked to over 100C playing WoW on max settings. After manually setting the fan speed to 75% it would hit only around 80. Apparently the automatic speed controllers on the card don't exactly work correctly.
- Problem 2 - Clone mode. I have the computer cloned to my Samsung 50in incase I want to play a movie or WoW from the couch instead of my monitor... atleast I would like to. After researching it, the drivers have a little bug with them that doesn't allow some full screen applications to be cloned. IE EVE Online. World of Warcraft has recently started to suffer from this as well. If you play the games in window mode, they work fine on the TV. If you maximize them to the full screen, the entire TV will be black although it works on the monitor.
Other Thoughts: Within the first month of owning the card, I would only be able to play any game for a few minutes before the card would spike to over 100C and lock up the computer. I could still talk in vent but the video was locked up. After a reboot it would work fine and as soon as I would start playing for a few minutes, temps spiked again and lock ups. The fan speeds were set to automatic but they would not change. I would look at CCC and notice the temps being over 96C in the CC and GPUZ was reporting 97C with the fans at 20%. I turned on overclocking via the CCC to adjust the fan speeds and cranked it to 75% and it cooled to the 80s.
I was able to fix the problem by purchasing a swing arm mount that provided a mounting brace for a fan that swings over over my PCI devices. Mounted a Fan on the bracket to blow cooler air down across the videocard and it cooled it down and stopped the lock ups. Also put in a PCI Slot fan and now I can game on it but the card does Artifact alot.

it can run crysis!
Pros: Best gpu on the market when I bought it in November, and its still holding its own vs the 295, especially once you turn the aa up.
Cons: Power consumption is astronomical, but ati cards haven't really been known for their frugality. Basically zero oc headroom, not that its needed. Some can get over 800 core, but mine starts artifacting even at 790, so might as well keep it stock.

Finally
Pros: Finally a card I can play Crysis with and get the results I want. Don't waste your money on Crossfire just buy a powerful card to start with. I upgraded from two 4850's and its a noticeable difference.
Cons: None yet. This card is the TRUTH
Other Thoughts: Got caught up in Crossfire marketing. My take from using crossfire and reading other benchmarks with 2 cards in crossfire is that it's a total waste of money. You are better off buying one good card. 2 cards gives you twice the problems. This 2 cards in one is the way to go.

Pros: Excellent card - reference cooling solution keeps both cores at very reasonable temps, even after hours of GPU intensive gaming. Fan is actually a little quieter than a standard 4870, too.
Cons: Price - and the power saving feature likes to downclock the GPU and DRAM when not under heavy use.
Other Thoughts: Excellent firepower for the money - much more affordable than when these cards were first released.

Great Card
Pros: Runs every game I throw at it. Nice card normal temps around 80 Celsius during max load. Ran cod4 and cod WaW on the highest settings with res at 1920 x 1200 and was still getting around 300 fps.
Cons: Not really a con but drivers on the disk failed to install on a vista ultimate 64 bit when straight to AMD download the recent drivers all is fine. Expect this card to be long it hangs past my mobo by .5 inches.
Other Thoughts: Running two of these for gaming I would say would be over kill two GPU's is plenty unless you are doing some rendering or editing.

I'm in awe
Pros: Insanely fast, stable, beautiful video card. This pumps out some glorious fps in bleeding edge games and the highest settings possible. Wanna laugh? I was using a Radeon 9600 xt before i broke down and got a new desktop. Pair this with a core i7 and you'll be laughing even harder.
Cons: Does get hot, especially in my sauna of a room. All ya gotta do is crank up the fan speed (not too high cause it can really sound like a vacuum cleaning) but high enough to keep it reasonably cool and more importantly stable. I've crashed it a few times before realizing how hot it gets. i keep the fan around 50 % while gaming and my speakers shut it up anyway.
Other Thoughts: Solid performing hardware. Can't go wrong with ATI's hardware, and I believe ATI/AMD are doing much better with their drivers these days.

Beautiful Card
Pros: Very powerful card that is still smoking any game I throw at it eight months later. If you manually turn up the fan there is no heat issue at all. The function is built right into CCC. My card overheated on me because of the dust build-up in the card, stopping proper ventilation. Just use compressed air to blow the dust out, that's all. Not compressed air in a can though.
Cons: Somewhat noisy, but you'll tone it out fairly quickly.
Other Thoughts: Have this paired with a Phenom II 940 @ 3.4 and I have been running any game with max resolution, texture detail, HDR, without a problem.

Heat fix
Pros: I have a Gigabyte 4870x2 that I bought here. The card is no longer at newegg. These cards run great when there not hot.
Cons: Heat issue-Easy fix. These reference cards will over heat in about 4 to 6 months depending on the dust in the room.seems like everybody complains about heat.Do this look at the heat sink where the fan is at use a flashlight. this will get clogged over time you have to blow it out with air.It takes alot of pressure so you have to stick the straw in the betwen the fan blades to get close enough to remove the dust and lint.It becomes very matted over time.
Other Thoughts: Just keep it clean and it will run great.

Great Card
Pros: Great video card with lots of power and incredible graphics.
Cons: fan may be a little noisy when cooling, no problem for me.
Other Thoughts: bought this card to match my msi oc 4870 x2 and now running in crossfire. The graphics are just insane and smooth. Running 9.4 drivers with no problems. Make sure you have a high end processor to run these cards or you will bottleneck.

AWESOME
Pros: Upgraded from the 4870 1GB...there is a noticeable improvement in smoothness!! I would post benchmarks, but who really cares about that stuff...3Dmark is so freakin biased towards Intel/Nvidia systems it ain't funny. All my games look AND feel awesome now!!
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Vista 64 Ultimate Phenom II X4 940BE (OC'd to 3.7 stable) Zalman 110mm HS (Max temp after 4 hrs gaming 52C) Asus M3A79-T Deluxe (BIOS 0703) OCZ Reaper DDR2 running @ 1067 ABS Tagan BZ 700W PSU 2X 1TB Seagate Barracuda 32MB Cache in RAID 0 Sapphire HD4870X2 (Catalyst 9.4) Antec 1200 Left4Dead, Fallout3, COD4, COD5, FC2, Orange Box, COH, GOW...all max settings (Except FC2...I leave AA 2X...but I hate the game anyway, all you do is drive around like a tool).

My Card died after 4 months due to the extreme heat
Pros: None
Cons: The card died only after 3 months of heavy gaming :( , Sapphire have hidden fees for RMA this thing. Lack of customer support.
Other Thoughts: This was my last Sapphire product , i will not spend a cent on this company again. Ask them about their warranty and their hidden fees ;) , you wont get an answer from Sapphire as i did try it. Buyers beware of this company and malpractice doing bad bussiness.

Excellent Card
Pros: -High performance card which has been a solid performer. -Used with: COD4, COD5, WoW, L4D, Bioshock, FarCry2 -Dual GPU on single PCB -Latest Catalyst 9.2 and 9.3 drivers fixed many early bugs.
Cons: -Runs hot requiring sufficient ambient case cooling and space around the card. -Sidenote to above, space is an issue with how long the card is to accommodate the dual GPU. (Ensure you have sufficient space for both the dual slot cooler and air space for it, plus the length) -Sapphire site and software is useless, however unneeded with ATI driver/software direct from AMD.
Other Thoughts: Owned for 6 months. Coolermaster HAF-932 Asus P6T Deluxe Intel Core i7 920 OCZ 6GB Gold 1600 PC P&C PPCT860 Sapphire 4870x2

Cons: well drivers sucked most of the time, overheated a heck of a lot. my case is coolermaster HAF 984 and i have problems all the time with heat from this card.but i should have known,it being a dual GPU card and all.

Great card in the beginning
Pros: I've owned this card for about 6 months or so. From the beginning, the card performed excellently. ran cool, quiet, and out performed any card i had ever had.
Cons: After about 4 months of ownership, the card's performance began to drop. The card began overheating, I had to have the fan at 50% at IDLE to keep it from overheating when previously i had the fan at 20% idle and it functioned perfectly staying around 50 c. idle. At the 6 month marker, now the card is just a $400 paper weight. By the time my computer boots from COLD to idling at desktop, my card has reached 90 c. I contacted the sapphire support, and what a bunch of incompetent fools they are. I asked a few questions about modifying the cooling structure to something better, and they agreed that modifying that was main stream and usually necessary. I checked if that would void my warranty, and they promptly replied 'no'. Well, I'm glad i didn't modify the card, because now that I'm sending in an rma, they include in their response that modifying the card will result in a void rma. What a group of intelligent people.
Other Thoughts: On top of all of this, It's going to cost me 15$ to have them replace or refurbish their faulty card. How awesome! I will not ever be purchasing a sapphire card in the future, and I recommend you do not either.

SMOOTH & CLEAN!
Pros: This card is awesome! I've most recently been addicted to L4D in Survival Mode. This card was swapped in to replace a Sapphire 4870 1GB...and let me tell you...with settings maxxed (as they were on the 4870)...graphics are razor sharp and silky smooth. I see flies and roaches and other details with clarity I've never seen before. I'm VERY happy with it. Oh yeah...the fan shroud doesn't look like the one pictured...looks more like the Diamond brand's (Black/no girl).
Cons: You'd think the price would have dropped by now...especially with the 4890's intro.
Other Thoughts: Sys Info: Antec 1200 ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe (Bios 0703) AMD Phenom II 940 @ 3.7 GHZ (Zalman 110mm HS Green LED with Arctic S5 compound) 4GB OCZ Reaper DDR2 1066 ABS Tagan BZ Series 700W PSU 2X1TB Seagate HDD's in RAID0, 1TB Ext drive for backup / media Sapphire 4870X2 (Catalyst 9.4) OC'd to 762/970 fan @ 55%

Very Nice
Pros: Very very good card. runs everything, WoW, crysis warhead, Dead Space, Farcry 2, and just about anything else i've tried since getting this card at max everything. Someone posted that they dropped FPS in WoW but with this card on Ultra settings i'm at a constant 60+ FPS, that person either has no clue what they are doing or did something wrong. If you can afford the money dump into this card I suggest you do.
Cons: Only con I have is that I didn't get the 2nd one when I ordered the first one. Oh well I'll be installing a 2nd one sooner or later.
Other Thoughts: Make sure that after you install the latest drivers you adjust the fan to about 55-60% it should keep the temp to about 40 degrees C.

Horrible for WoW
Pros: Not really sure. The perfmance of this card in WoW was horrible.
Cons: I only play World of Warcraft (WoW) and this card is HORRIBLE for it. I actually replaced a 8800 GTX 768MB Nvidia card (built another PC) and my frame rates actually dropped in half. I dropped my old 8800 GTX in and I got probably double the FPS than the Sapphire.
Other Thoughts: Im a computer engineer and have built PCs for years. I built a brand new quadcore PC with 6GB of RAM and Vista Ultimate - I know what Im doing. I have used Nvidia cards for years and the Radeon cards made me realize why Nvidia cards are so much more popular.

Cons: N/A
Other Thoughts: First card I got seemed to work alright as far as graphics performance, but there were two glaring issues it caused. First, the card emitted high pitched tones when powered on. When not under load, the tone would be quiet and barely audible, but the more load put on the card, the louder the tones. I've been told it was either 'Harmonic Distortion' or bad capacitors. The other glaring issue was that it created a conflict with my onboard RAID chip (SiI3114 on an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium motherboard). The chip reverted back to a non-RAID mode (Didn't even give me the option to set up RAID on boot as it normally did), which left my array inaccessible, albeit intact. I ended up RMAing the card, and the new one should be arriving tomorrow.

can you spell RMA
Pros: i seemed to get high frame rates, graphic quality is a little better then last gen.
Cons: had to RMA this card after about 5-6 months because i was having system hard locks. at first i was thinking it could be one of my memory modules but after doing a burn in test with no errors for 30 min i changed my mind. swapped out the card for my old hd 2900 xt and all my problems went away. i hope when i get my new card back it is fixed properly dont know if it was a firmware problem or not but it was not a heat issue idle 42c on load 65 - 70 c.
Other Thoughts: new egg is not to blame for this problem. the quality control at sapphire is. this card and many like it that i have read posts on that are having problems should have never shipped out the door.

Sapphire 4870x2
Pros: Plays all current games at high resolutions and reasonable framerates for the cost.
Cons: ATI driver support has been pitiful for this card. I've had the card since August 2008. It was about 4 or 5 driver generations before the drivers were actually stable, and still some games performed poorly until the Catalyst 9 series came out. ATI didn't treat this card like their flagship product, as I expected they would, it was more like an afterthought for them.
ATI support is bad. When you want to report a problem you have to go to their website and fill out a web form, from which you will never recieve any kind of reply or acknowlegment. They have a community forum also, but publicly state that the forum offers no official support for reported issues, and is basically defunct for all intents and purposes.
Also, this card has a problem with the powerplay functionality. Sapphire has not released any bios update or acknowlegement of the problem. Changing between 2D and 3D modes (alt-tab) can cause your computer to hang. Not Crash, but hang indefinitely until hard reboot.
Other Thoughts: I will never understand why people who don't own a product, feel the need to rate it and comment on it. If you own a 3870x2 and you're commenting on a 4870x2, I'm sorry to break this to you but your opinion is irrelevent and shouldnt be clogging up this comment section.
Also, to the poster who is having trouble with this card running hot after 8 months. I had the same problem and I fixed it. The problem is that the design of the intake fan and cooling system is such that it sucks a lot of crud into the heatsink of the first GPU, and after time, no air can flow through that heatsink because there is a wall of gunk on the heatsink facing the fan. Take your card apart and detail the heatsinks and get all the gunk off the first one, then re-assemble your card. You should see the temps become more reasonable. Unfortunately, because the card is designed this way, this will need to be done every 3 to 4 months, varying on how much lint and gunk your PC collects.

sketchy
Pros: great improvement from 4850, overall nice card
Cons: none really except this is my 2nd card. My rating is not due to the card but newegg itself. I do not understand why I should pay shipping back to newegg if the card does not work.
Other Thoughts: I had to return the first card because it was just messed up. games crashed as soon as they would load. Tried every conceivable way to get it to run and it just wouldnt. Got the new card FINALLY and it works great. Im still salty I had to pay for RMA. How could that possibly be my fault? Rediculous!

Sapphire
Pros: You can't fault all Sapphire for your problems, I have been running a 3870x2 for over a year now. My PC is on 24/7 and I have not had any problems so far. Yes it does run hot on the default fan setting. So you download a little program to up the fan speed and no problems.
Cons: Other than running very hot and having driver issues when first purchased, none. Drivers were beta when i bought the card but I still think its a great card.

Get this card but...DO NOT BUY SAPPHIRE
Pros: Don't get me wrong, this card is amazing. The 1 egg is for the manufacturer.
Cons: This card started artifacting after about 8 months. It runs extremely hot without upping the fan speed, so I'm not that surprised that I ended up having to replace it.
However, Sapphire's RMA policy is a joke. You have to pay a $15 "Administration Fee" to process your RMA. They DO NOT offer an Advanced RMA option, and it takes 4-6 weeks for you to get your card back. This kind of policy is archaic. I used to work in an RMA department for an OEM PC manufacturer and I never ran into anything like this. If this company didn't supply the boards for AMD, they would not be in business.
Other Thoughts: Get the 4870x2, just don't get it from Sapphire.

Cant get it to work
Pros: Card would seem fast...
Cons: Card is huge... and doesnt work for me..
Other Thoughts: I had it RMAd... When I installed it.. tried the drivers. Bought a new system, but when the card is in and if I click a program or something the screen goes blank and doesnt respond or come back up. My keyboard and mouse doesnt respond either. After I got new card back. It still didnt work. So not sure if its the mobo or wat. I have a 1000k power supply. My 8800GTS still works like a charm..

Rapifirex
Pros: Card performs good and extremely fast, I upgraded from my old 8800 GT (1200 in 3Dmark ) to 4870x2 (19600 ), play COD, Supreme Comander . This is a Monster. Rapifirex :)
Cons: do not donwload the driver from SAPPHIRE, go direct to ATI and get it from there. Hotttttttttt you have to put the fan in 50 or 60% to run cool in 56 - 58C if you want to play.
Other Thoughts: I'll Want anortherone to put it in CrossfireX

In the end, nice card
Pros: Card performs well. Its an upgrade from my Evga 8800 GTX superclocked. I am running 2 monitors, a 28" at 1920x1200, and a 22" at 1680x1050. No problems. I am able to run most of my games with crossfire results, and still have a spare monitor on the side to monitor my temps, core sensors etc. I say most games (as long as crossfire is supported). The best thing is that you dont have to deal with the driver issues with running SLI/Crossfire with 2 different cards. I had alot of issues with 2 8600 GTS's utalizing SLI. Anyway, Now with my 2nd card (read cons), I am pleased. I run crysis with natural mod at 1920x1200 with everything set on very high, even with AA. With this setting, I get around 28 to 44 fps, which is good for crysis standards. It is beautiful. With the 8800 GTX I couldnt even think about AA.
GTA 4 also runs great with this card. Of course, even though it is a 2g card, the game still will see it as 1g ram (single gpu). So when you adjust settings, you are limited to 1g r
Cons: Well, I received my first card (good shipping results from newegg). Threw it in, ran it, played a few games.. everything looked great. However, the next time I rebooted, no image. I could ctrl alt delete a few times and the image would pick up. This could have been due to a few things. It could have been a slightly limited power sourse (750watt Dell psu), motherboard (Nvidia SLI board), or it simply was a defective card. I returned this card via RMA. It sucked because I had to mail it to California, and Im in VA.. so it took a week. But when it had been received it didnt take long to process RMA. they sent me a new card from NJ thank goodness. the new card is working like a champ! no problems what so ever (see Pros). However, I have pretty much built a new system in the process of waiting for my new card. Decided to go with Lanparty DK p45 mobo, Crossfire supported board. All is good now..
Other Thoughts: Before system specs: I say this because there may be issues with Nvidia SLI boards and ATI crossfire cards..
XPS 720 (on air), Q9550 @ 2.83, 750w psu, 4g 8500 C dominator ram, Nforce 680i SLI (Dells version) mobo. Vista 32bit SP1
New system specs: Lanparty DK P45 TR2S, Q9550 @2.83 (currently), Xclio case, 8gs 8500 ram, Coolmax 950watt psu, VelociRaptor 10,000 300gb disk, many fans.. etc. etc.. vista 64 SP1.

Bad Card
Pros: New Egg RMA service is QUICK
Cons: After physically installing card I tried to load the latest drivers. During installation I would get a BSOD error and it would reboot. Upon reboot, the OS will freeze during initial login and show distorted black/green screen with lines going across. Only works in VGA without drivers. Tried several different drivers and troubleshooting techniques from different forums withouto any luck. Prob bad card, waiting for new item and hopefully it will work!

4870x2
Pros: This card can tackle any game i throw at it. I love to play crysis and i do at max settings and max A/A. Its a great card!
Cons: The fan is loud when set to 50% or above.
Other Thoughts: Cant wait to see what they make next!

not much better than my old card
Pros: Runs fairly smooth with games like cod 5 and fear 2 but runs really slow with Empire total war at max settings.
Cons: drivers
Other Thoughts: replaced a 9800gx2 with this card, waste of money same results, better deal though Ati is always going to have the best bang for the buck.

Awesome!
Pros: This thing is very powerful and quiet. I can even overclock it with fan speed up 40% with no sweat. Sacred 2, Farcry 2, Lotro, WoW...no problem. All settings ultra high. I recently re-installed FEAR remembering how taxing that game was. I set all the graphics as high as they would go (including volumetric lighting) and after restarting the game, I got 141 fps on the test! Stock cooling is all you need. A good case with plenty of large fans is recommended.
Cons: I wish more games were designed with ATI in mind, but even Nvidia games run smoothly. Not really a con, although, I think the only game that doesn't run good on ATI is Age of Conan. That's probably because they sold out to Nvidia. That's ignorant on their part, but there's plenty of other games to play.
Other Thoughts: My last card was a Sapphire 1900xtx and worked wonderful for years. I'll definately continue to buy Sapphire made products. I have nothing against Nvidia. They also have very good products. I have 3 machines, 2 have ATI 4870s and 1 I built last year with an Nvidia 8800gtx.

one wicked card absolutely astounding
Pros: this card literraly dominates games. it may run like a blast furnace but with the new antec1200 i just bought (went from thermaltake armor)i have 6 fans and it stays icy cool at max load 60s and that barely happens. just get a well ventilated case and the thing will run like a champ!
Cons: none in a sufficient case w good airflow the card is brilliant.
Other Thoughts: i cant wait for price drop and windows 7 ill grab another one of these in crossfire and ill be good xD

Great but HOT card
Pros: For the price, probably the best card out there. Sure, there are combinations better than it -- but they are also way more expensive. For me, this is the sweet spot.
Destroys L4D (or any other HL2 engine game), Crysis, or whatever else.
Cons: ...but you have to make a choice. Hot or loud. Of course, with the exception of watercooling this is what you have to deal with when you go this high-end.
The fan on this baby kicks everything away, but it is LOUD. A small plane taking off loud. Turning it up to 100% will keep it under 40~50C under a heavy loud, though... so you have to decide if it is worth it. Typically keeping the fan at around 40% is sufficient for pretty much everything.

Awesome!! ...Now that the drivers work.
Pros: Great piece of hardware, able to max out all but the most intensive games on my 24" monitor.
Cons: Drivers. 8.X - 9.1 pretty much sucked. Crashes, artifacting, HDR issues, not able to boot vista / win7 x64 with more than 4 gigs of RAM (!!). However, the recent 9.3 - 9.4 driver releases have been very solid. Even have a WDM 1.1 driver for Windows7 available with every new release.

BFC
Pros: In terms of a single card graphics solution, this card is hard to top. After my old 4850 died I replaced it with this card, and it was a considerable upgrade in both price and performance. It fits nicely into my Antec 300 case.
Cons: It barely fits in the Antec 300, I had to shift a drive out of the way to make it work, and in other mid-towers it will be a problem. Also, the auto-tune function set my clock speeds too high and I started seeing artifacts, so I had to manually find a sweet spot for my core settings.
Other Thoughts: When overclocking this card with ATI's software make sure you adjust the clocks for both cores, and keep the values as close together as you can. I made the mistake of thinking both cores were adjusted at once, but there's a drop-down menu that lets you select the cores separately. It seems that having values that are too far apart causes problems in-game, like stuttering and artifacts, so to get the best performance you'll need to keep an eye on what you're doing.

Not Bad, but buggy
Pros: Very Powerful, Runs games at top speed flawlessly!
Cons: BIG!, The fan can be loud, drivers
Other Thoughts: Ok, This card is HUGE, make sure you have the room to fit it AND properly cool it! It has run my games beautifully BUT it has to be in windowed mode, for some reason LOTS of people are having problems with this card in full-screen mode. Some are giving up and sending it back, but i enjoy my games too much for that.

Great card.
Pros: Handles 1920x1200 just fine with eyecandy cranked up, mine runs relatively cool compared to some others on here..
Cons: The only con with this card is if it does heat up during games, the fans kick up and it can get pretty loud, i wear headphones 100% of the time on the pc though, so it's not so bad. If your a speaker person, you may want to invest in a different cooling method if available.
Other Thoughts: Upgraded from 2 4850's in xfire and it was a nice performance boost in the games i play, so it was a worthwhile purchase.

Great Card
Pros: Running everything on MAX. I just set it and forget it. Far Cry 2 on Ultra High. Crysis Warhead maxed out. Using ATI CCC to control fan spead and Heat.
Cons: Ginormous card. About the size of a large PaperBack book. Computer would not boot after install because I accidentally loosened the ATX power cable trying to cram everything in there. Requires 6 and 8 pin power. Comes with adapters.
Other Thoughts: If you have the space and the money, this card is about as good as it gets. But the graphics card industry needs to come up with a new design to make these babies smaller and more accessible to people with smaller cases. Used NewEgg and paid for next day shipping. When all was compared, I spent no more than I would have at other outlets with normal shipping.

Pros: -I can run everything (Crysis including) on everything MAXED (including AA) smoothly at 1680x1050 -Like I said, extremely powerful -Drivers have built in overclocking tools and fan controller -Automatically underclocks to save power when not gaming or using 3d applications
Cons: -HOT HOT HOT! Can get up to 90 degrees Celsius when gaming -HUGE, I had to take out my hard drive rack to get it to fit -I like nVidia drivers better
Other Thoughts: Long time nVidia user, first time ATI. Definitely a great card, but runs hot and if you crank the fan above 50% your ears WILL bleed. -MSI Pro x58 -Core i7 920 -6 Gigs RAM -Windows XP

Excellent Card!!!
Pros: Very Fast! Handles everything I've trown at it. Price is well worth it for the performance and it still costs less than the underwhelming competition.
Cons: None!
Other Thoughts: Some people say that running hot is a con but I just say that is because it's so awesome. I run the fan at 44% regular and 60% for gaming. Never goes over 56 - 58C durring game play.

Extremely disappointed
Pros: none really from what I was expecting... a HUGE let down
Cons: The first problem I ran in to this card with was World of Warcraft, which is the game I played the most.
The problem was that if I enabled Windowed Mode my FPS would drop to about 10-15, after researching the problem I found out that this is a problem with both this card and the 2 GPU Geforce that recently came out, and windows wouldn't use both GPU's on desktop, and would only use one of them. In short the game was unplayable in windowed mode and I was forced to play full screen and suffer through long tab in / tab outs
The second problem I ran in to was with the new release Empire Total War. There was extreme graphics distortion in the game that only went away after turning down all of the settings to the minimum... I didn't pay for this graphics card to only play a game with the settings all on min. This seemed to be a drivers problem... still no new drivers to fix it.
Finally my FPS was not as good as it should be.
Upgrading from an 8800 GTX I only got about 5-15 m
Other Thoughts: Core i7 965 @ 3.2 GHz 6gb Patriot Viper DDR3 1600 Western Digital VelociRaptor EVGA Geforce 285 GTX SSC
As you can see I switched from the 4870 X2 to the 285 GTX, I couldn't be happier with this card... no problems with it whatsoever and for some reason I'm even getting 15-20 more FPS in full screen games then I did with the 4870 X2. Just goes to show nvidia has their drivers worked out and the 4870 X2 failed horribly at meeting it's potential.

Running ATI on XFX 780i Nvida Mobo
Pros: Excellent Card!
Cons: None - Price Point for Performace is matched compared to Nvidia's Over Pirced GTX295
Other Thoughts: Currently Have a XFX 780i Nvida Mobo & intel Q9550 3.83MHz O/C'd (Replaced (2) 9600GT in SLI) with this 4870 X2. For anyone wondering if you can run ATI on an Nvida Mobo YOU CAN RUN 1 ATI CARD but CAN NOT run 2 Cards in Crossfire. I have no Problems at all. Card fired up perfectly. Installed Catalyst 9.3 - as far as the nVidia GTX 295 - That was my 2nd choice ONLY! due to the current Price... Also I am Running a 850 PSU which is plenty of power. - I hope this helps anyone concerned about switching over to a ATI Card with an Nvidia Chipset Mobo. - Enjoy!!!

Godly
Pros: This card is Godly. It took framerates I had running on a radeon x1650 pro at 20-30fps on one of my games at minimum settings, and then with all settings MAXED it was sitting at 120fps and even under full load the lowest it went was 66fps(and only for all of 5 seconds).
Cons: Does run fairly hot. Try to keep any cables whatsoever from touching the top of the card as its hot enough to burn you just from touching it(I tested -_-). Its not hot enough to be a problem if you have even half decent fan cooling in your system though.
Other Thoughts: 400$ for the best video card in the world? You cant beat it. Do yourself a favor and buy this if youre looking for high end graphics processing whether for gaming, movies, or visual presentations.

Cons: I will NEVER BUY A SAPPHIRE CARD AGAIN! my1st one was DOA 2nd one was working but has bad CAPS that whine and Screams like i have a 100 mices in there, only happends when under load!
Other Thoughts: sad thing is that newegg has to keep replaceing them and im sick and tired of RMA.... im up for my 3rd RMA in 3 weeks.

Great Card.
Pros: Plays my games and media flawlessly at 1900x1200 and keeps my office warm in the winter.
Cons: Hot! Loud! The default fan speed just doesn't cut it. Temps hit 82c just browsing web pages and the heat pouring out the back was comparable to my homes furnace.
Setting the fan to 30% was tolerable for noise level but not enough to cool while gaming. 40% kept it cool enough to play but is too loud for regular use. Anything above that is like sitting next to a vacuum cleaner and I don't like having to adjust settings every time I want to change from gaming/applications.
Setting the fan at 100% made my girlfriend yell at me from upstairs to stop using power tools in the house.
Other Thoughts: I'm using this card as the excuse I've always needed to justify a water cooling system so for now its going back in the box (pains me to do it) until I get a new cooling setup in place.
Catalyst drivers have been hit and miss for me but the 9.3's are working good.
If it weren't for the heat and noise I'd give this card five eggs. Other than that its great and I look forward firing it up again real soon!

perfect
Pros: Running my latest games at 1920x1080 max details with AA and AF and its never been smoother. Extremely happy with the image quality and speed of this monster, best video card I have ever purchased. 9.2 catalysts work perfect for me and is very stable, no crashing or BSODs whatsoever. Edited CCC profile to lower 2d clocks and manually adjusted fan speed so now it idles at 34 degrees celcius with very low power consumption with fan at 37%
Cons: None for me. People worried about the heat should really consider editing a profile to lower clock settings in 2d mode and manually adjust the fan speed. Worked wonders for me.
Other Thoughts: Rig is 4870x2, quad 9550 @ 3.825mhz, 2 x 2gb OCZ ddr2 ram, evga 750i FTWEdition motherboard, 750 Watts Corsair power supply, Cosmos case.

Fast and hot
Pros: Fast, easily overclockable, ATI Catalyst Control Center.
Cons: I'm not sure how many reviews it takes before AMD does something about cooling the card. You have to set the fan to 60% when playing demanding games, and it's loud. I'm considering water cooling just for this.

AWESOME!
Pros: This card is Amazing!! It's more powerful than my computer. I looked at some of the other cards, But I decided to go ahead and splurge for ounce. Newegg's prices are great too! + Fast shipping!!! I guess my next step is a new Mobo and Proc, So this is where I'll shop. If you want a Great card this is the one to get for graphics intensive work or play! Or Both.
Cons: What Cons? Just make sure you have enough juice and room!
Other Thoughts: I haven't gotten a bad Sapphire card yet! Just make sure you have a Quality Power supply to feed it and good airflow in your case, The deeper the better!

Love it!.
Pros: I Have this video card from almost a year. The video card is great run very fast on almost all games, Waw, cod4, Left 4 death, Crysis. I really happy with the video card 100% buy it.
Cons: Price. Hot 70 C normal 90 c in game. I just get like a 2 month ago a water block from koolance and now my temperature is 32 c was a great improvment.

Perfect
Pros: I love this card, finally the only limiting factor in gaming is my reaction speed. plays WaW maxed no problems and haven't tried crysis yet but im sure it will do just fine.
Cons: as most others have said, runs pretty hot - mine idles at around 60c and topped out at 94c playing WaW for a couple hours. but then again in looking around and talking to amd these temps seem to be acceptable for this card (just scares me)
Other Thoughts: can't comment on o/c ability... haven't found a need to!
oh and just an fyi on size - it's about an inch or so longer than my p6t deluxe v2 so get a big case

Great
Pros: Paired with an i7 at 4.2Ghz and this card runs great. 24k in 3dM06. 114 FPS Avg in the X3 Bench at EOCF.
Cons: No cons as of yet since I haven't had a card that worked more then a day or two yet. See other thoughts
Other Thoughts: 2 RMA's so far with in the first month of owning this card. First card was DOA second had a high pitched whine and then the fan controller for the card started going out locking the fan at 20%.

WOW!
Pros: Highest quality settings, 1920x1200 resolution for all the Half-Life 2’s, Left 4 Dead and it doesn’t miss a beat. Before I built this system I was living off my laptop working overseas for a couple of years so I’m still playing catch up in the game department so can’t vouch for anything else yet.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Not the cards fault, but water cooling solutions for these were much pricier than I anticipated. Water block prices are dropping as more blocks become available to choose from though. Manually controlling the fan keeps the temp down during game so I can wait a little while longer. I did expect the card to be huge (did most of my homework) and bought my case accordingly. My Thermaltake Armor has room to spare.

GEAT! Bestest card
Pros: The card is fast, really fast. Every game I play is no match for his card. The drives at launch weren't really good but are getting better. Ati releases a new driver every mouth that fixes bugs and increases the performance of their cards. If you are looking for a card high-end card, you should consider this. Its Faster then two 4870 in crossfire. Compared to the Nvidia's 280 and 285, this card is still better and is around the same price. Also loving having something with 2gb for Gddr5 ram in my computer.
Cons: You are going to need to control the fan speed on this card, but its really easy.
Other Thoughts: I dont think the 295 is better then this card. I know the preformance of 295 is better on games then 4870 x2, but the 4870x2 still has more ram and uses GDDR5 while the 295 uses the old GDDr3. Compare the specs of cards before you purchase any card because gaming preformance isn't everything.

Almost the best..
Pros: This card perfroms VERY well, when the drivers are good. Anything I task it with, is golden. I have the fan on 100%, and in my mini wind-tunnel, I stays cool.
Cons: Drivers, drivers, drivers. Its a good thing I have solid technical knowledge, I would have returned this card within weeks of purchasing it. I had MANY CTDs during almost all the games I play. 2 weeks after aquiring this card, Cat9.2 was released and now, all is well.
Other Thoughts: All in all, I love this card. If it werent for the mess in the begining, I'd have given it 5 eggs.

Not bad
Pros: 35-60 fps in Crysis Mostly High + some medium settings @1920x1200. 60-140fps Left 4 dead 60-400fps in wow Stalker clear sky 60-80fps
Crossfire beats SLI!
Cons: More driver and software issues compared to my 9800gtx+. Took a bit of fine tuning in terms of settings for everything to run right. ATI drivers aren't letting me run WoW in windowed mode.
Other Thoughts: Overall excellent performance and better value than gtx295, but driver issues cut 1 egg.

best card for the $
Pros: Performance is great! I can now turn up the graphics on all my games to the max settings, with 1600x1200 or 1280x1024 depending on what the game supports. Install and configuration was easy. This was a bit cheaper than other Radeon HD 4870 cards.
Cons: the card is huge, if you don't have the right case it may not fit. I had to remove the hard drive cage from my Lian-Li case in order to fit this in, and put my HDD's where the floppy drive would be. the fan is not the quietest either.

Good buy
Pros: Obviously extremely fast. Feels well-built, and looks nice if someone actually cares about that. Have not had any hardware or software issues related to it.
Cons: Very heavy... I had to "snag" it onto a power cable in the case to help hold up the far end of it and give it some support. Its very long too, keep that in mind if you have a small case. Its extremely hot also, and you'll actually warm the air in the room just by browsing the internet. Playing games can send you to Dante's inferno unless you turn the air conditioning up. I wouldn't dare overclock this without an aftermarket cooler, even if I were successful I wouldn't be happy knowing about the heat.
Other Thoughts: My first Sapphire product and I'm impressed. It was the cheapest priced and doesn't seem to be lacking in quality.
You'll be very smart to get an aftermarket cooler even if you don't overclock, it will help the performance and life of the card.
Make sure you have a PSU that can run this or 3d apps like games can shut your compute down.

Great Product for the Price
Pros: Best product for the price range. goes well with the Dragon (fusion) architecture that AMD/ATI is promoting now. Great OverClocker and very good Fan management.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: No problems with my Asus mobo or the Phenom II 940. Very good benchmarks. User Fast shipping from Newegg makes the deal even better.

Incredible
Pros: Upgraded 2 3870s to this. This card is amazing. Tons of power, more than I can use for right now. The processor cant keep up for most games.
Cons: Huge.
Other Thoughts: The card is so big I had to rearrange my hard drives to allow the card to fit.

Very very nice card
Pros: Runs cool (relative) Huge performance gains compared to even a Crossfire 4870 setup on all games I have tried Very stable, even after maxing an overclock using ccc.
Cons: Huge. Be sure your case can fit it. It's about an inch longer than a standard ATX motherboard. You may find SATA ports or other integral ports can become blocked by the size of the cooler.
Other Thoughts: I tried Crysis, World in Conflict, Far Cry 2, Mirror's Edge, and Sins of a Solar Empire. All games gave me a dramatic boost in FPS compared to my old 4870 in Crossfire setup. Even though they are both 4870s in Crossfire, the 4870x2 is tuned so well and takes advantage of both GPUs being on one card that it truly does increase performance over a typical Crossfire setup. My card idles in the 40s and tops out in the 70s in my CM HAF. This is after a 778/970 overclock (max as CCC will let me go). Comparatively, my 4870s in CF would idle in the 50s and top out in the mid 80s (!) on stock clocks. The 4870x2 runs far cooler I would say.

Pros: great processing time
Cons: not giving good info about first order
Other Thoughts: it took a month to get my order right do to my fault or system set up. i was trying to send as a gift but would never go through. so i just sent it to myself. also the price went up on this product and i was told that i would get the price adjustment from the previous order but hasnt received it as of yet. i sent beth a email to remind her of this. Also, it would have been nice to no that the utility cord did not come with this product. so i need to order this now. i hope i will have a better experience with this one. thanks for your time

kinda happy
Pros: This card seems to run very good with all old games like DOD:S and CS:S, like 299 fps to 100 fps.
Cons: but i guess I am a FPS freak because in farcry 2 I was expecting 80's to 90's but it isnt that sweet at 1680x1050. dont get me wrong its cool but my friend with a XBOX 360 looks almost the same and I could have got an Xbox and the game for 1/2 the price of the video card.
Other Thoughts: I need to use keyboard and lazer mouse to play shooter games. So I guess im stuck with PC games. It seems that video card technology is far behind video enhancing game technology!!!! Just part of the biz?!?! PUR H8!!! LULZ! J,P,B bennola

Sweet
Pros: Very fast cards. running two in crossfire and getting 50 fps in crysis wars. the first drivers kind of sucked but new drivers are coming out quick and cant wait for the next one will make them even better. I have not had any trouble so far. Hopping I don't from the other reviews.
Cons: none

I can finally play all my games @ max settings!!
Pros: Crysis, Warhead, Call of Jaurez, rFactor, America's Army, Unreal 3 and ARCA Sim Racing all set to max settings. I have all the card settings forced to the max and the resolution @ 1920 x 1200. It is still more than I need at the moment, which is good for the future.
Cons: I really can't see anything at the moment that a con.
Other Thoughts: The fan is loud at 50% to 100% and puts out a lot of air when it's on high. You will need to have enough room in the back of the PC so the hot air can escape. Not a con just expect it to get HOT! After all it is 2 GPUs on the same board.

Fantastic, Awsome, Godly
Pros: This card out-performs period
Cons: I realize that I might just not be tech savvy enough to figure it out, but when I am in the Catalyst Control Center it dose not show me the second card, It shows me the CrossFireX tab, but for a few days after I set it up, I was not confident that I had set it up correctly. If anyone has any comment on that feel free reply.
Other Thoughts: I have this Cross-fired with second one.

Very Bad Company , no customer Support.
Pros: Looks good in top of my desk. Makes a great Paper weight.
Cons: A Nightmare :( , bought 2 of this for Quadfire and has been a true nightmare. one of my cards die on me for no reason , i suspect due to the extreme heat output of this cards constantly. I tried to get RMA fron sapphire and they want ti $50.00 US Dollars for the administration fees lol whaaat ??? also for shipping this heavy card its another $27.oo US Dollars , meaning that if i want to get my card fix or replace due to hardware failure of the card i have to spent $77.00US Dollars to start with , Thats Wrong , very wrong , sapphire wont tell you about the hidden charges for RMA until you actually have problems and want to RMA your card. very bad customer support , they will give you the run around in order not to give you and RMA for your card , disrispectfull customer service agents. Bad company , no customer support, Hidden fees = Last sapphire product for me.
Other Thoughts: Please Newegg do not remove this review as you did with my last one , im saying the truth nothing but the truth. Sapphire its not a good company when it comes to customer support and waranty. they told me to get the warranty service from newegg , i called newegg and thay told me that Sapphire its the one for me to get the warranty from ? Thats very wrong :( , now i have a $600.00US Dollars Paper weight that i bought from newegg , as i bought this card the first day it came out and i paid the premium price for it. Dont fall into Sapphire trap people , do not buy their prodct as their customer support its non existance. What a Nightmare , shame on Sapphire for thair hidden fees for RMA , beware of this guys. Not worth it.

WOW!
Pros: Grab your chair and hold on cause this card will blow your mind away. I can run World In Conflict and CoD: WaW at max max settings on my 22" samsung w/ the framerates never dropping below 65-70 fps!
Cons: The Sapphire manual that comes with it is probably the least helpful manual ive ever had to read. Thankfully i really didnt need it. Hey Sapphire some specs in the manual would b nice!
Other Thoughts: Is it worth $450-$500? depends... This card will utterly blow your mind away because it runs so fast... but if you have a 19" monitor... or have somewhat lower ended games... This card is clear overkill

@ATP
Pros: WoW doesnt support SLI/crossfire, so it sees this card as 1 4870, that's your problem. It ill happen with any multi-gpu setup you run with that game. If you purchase the product as an informed consumer, understanding what it will and will not do, you will not have these problems, and thus it is not the fault of the video card
Cons: none

Not living up to its hype
Pros: Very FAST video card
Cons: - Pricey - Bulky/ Long (~1inch longer than Geforce 260 216 Core) - Gets warm (I have a Antec Titan 550 so cooling not a big deal) - Driver not mature (slight issues with crossfire - check ATI forums)
Other Thoughts: - Upgraded from Geforce 260 216 core Superclocked - I upgraded from the above video card thinking i'll can make up all my video settings an d get consistenly 60+FPS but after installatopm....slight disappointed.
Issue(s) 1. Frame rates in Dalaran (WoW reference) consitently 20-30FPS 2. Boss encounters 30+ FPS (Naxx, Sartharion, Malygos, etc. 3. Frame Rates are only at 60+ if i'm standing still and an empty zone... 4. Saphire 4870 X 2 - I get the same FPS (30+ FPS) with my Gefoce 260 216 SC

Great
Pros: Very powerful card that has smoked every game I have with no problems.
Cons: Does run a little hot and is pretty expensive.
I got this in early October of last year and the fan is starting to fail. I'll probably have to send it in for a replacement. Didn't expect the fan to fail this early. I usually run it at 55%, which isn't much and that keeps the card perfectly cool.
Other Thoughts: Love the card, except the fan is failing way to early.

Worth its weight in gold
Pros: This card was really the one to buy(sapphire is great). I belive this card still has much more to offer than the nvidia card. I ditched nvidia for this, been using them for years. Actually I went s3 virge to 3dfx then to riva tnt had issues with it on my board so went to nvidia all those years ago. Now I am enjoying this much more. Such pretty on screen Images, games run so well with eye candy on. This thing handles edit software very well to
Cons: none I think it does the better rendering job as opposed to the gtx 295.
Other Thoughts: Well all I can say now is if ati/amd can keep this up they will shine. Hopefully ati/amd can benefit from the poor economic times due to cost. I wonder if Ibm and ati/amd are still talking hmmm.

hot-rod
Pros: lots of firepower..plays any games at high setting..except crysis of course. eh but who cares about that game. overclock these and it should compete with gtx 295 for a lot less.
Cons: power hungry.. it will cook an egg and a good radiator for winter :).

exellent!!!
Pros: DX10,2 gpu's running in crossfire on 1 board,Yes this card runs HOT ideles at around 50c,but the fan vents the air out side the case so its realy not a big deal!
Cons: even running stress test's on the gpu(s) if the fan is left on auto I am yet to see it move past 27% even when the temp was 80-90c!!!!!SO LIKE EVERYONE ELSE HAS SAID MAKE SURE YOU MANUELY SET THE FAN TO RUN AT OR ABOVE 40%

Great card
Pros: Great card if you have a computer that can fully utilize this card. Great frame rates in all the games I have tested it on, does great with benchmarking programs. Not nearly as hot as most people have stated, if you have the proper case/case cooling this card runs nice and cool, with stock fan settings the card would idle around 40-43c under load the highest I got it to was 64c, not to bad for stock fan speeds. I have been building systems for years, if you have a proper case with some decent fans you should be great, the biggest mistake people make when it comes to cooling is cable management, if your cables are crowding your case, it won't matter if your fans flow 130 CFM, your system will still stay hot, do yourself a favor and take the time to set it up right, and if you don't feel you can, or your just being lazy, go to a computer store, most of them do professional wiring for really cheap...
Cons: I really have yet to see any "REAL" cons with this card, yes drivers are not mature, yes it is large, yes it will run hot if you don't have the proper setup, yes the fan is loud at high settings, but that's completely normal, do you really think the fan is going to be silent above 60%, all of you complaining about the noise at high settings, do everyone a favor and stick your hand at the exhaust port on the card at 60% and feel how much air that fan is pushing through such a small hole, it's a lot of air huh? OF COURSE IT WOULD BE LOUD... Don't be deterred by people complaining about these things, if you really want to get this card, make sure the rest of your system is up to par and you will be perfectly fine...
Other Thoughts: Don't buy this card just to brag, please don't waste your money, don't throw this thing in some stock Best*uy special and think it's going to make miracles, if you truly want this card, do it right or else your just wasting your time and money....
Build specs:
Asus Rampage Extreme X48 (water cooled)
Intel QX9770 @ 4.2 GHZ (water cooled)
4 gigs, OCZ DDR3 flex (water) @ 1800
Sapphire 4870X2 (soon to be water) stock clock
Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Sound card
2x WD Velociraptor 300G (RAID 0 Array)
1 TB WD Caviar black
PC Power & Cooling 1200w
Dual 24" Sceptre monitors
LG Blu-Ray Burner/Drive
LG DVD/CD Burner
Coolermaster HAF 932 full tower
Custom built water cooling system

I think that's about it.

Greate card!!!
Pros: Installation passed smooth. Perphormance even surprized over high expectations. No issues once or ever with dual (24') monitors under Vista Ultimate 64bit with Catalyst 9.1. Games like Crysis run smooth on highes settings even with Overdrive OFF. BTW: don't forget to crunck up fan (>40%) in manual settings, if Overdrive is ON.
Cons: Well, price still very high on my taste, but can't wait longe. If Overdrive is ON, it should control fan accordingly temperature, >80C looks scarry, when card cost over $400. Have to buy new big, nice, expensive case, because this card is HUGE!!! My Antec 900 too small for it 8( and i have to pull halfe way out of one of HDD cage and now this cage sit in place only because of gravity and cables for 3 HDD. Manual 100% fan settings sounds very scarry, but looks like useless anyway.
Other Thoughts: My rige: Asus P5K3 Deluxe, 8Gb Muskin DDR3 1600, 5xWD750Gb RAID5, HD4870x2 and all this under Vista 64bit Ultimate. 60% time havy load with database shuffeling + 30% software development + 5% gaming + whatevere.

Sapphires are a man's best friend
Pros: handles any and all graphics that you want to run. Games on the highest setting and no glitches. Pretty card.
Cons: Weighs a ton and could be mistaken for a space heater.
Other Thoughts: This card is a monster. topped 20210 futuremark 06 score with the 940 amd processor and this card. I set my fan control on manual and left it at 45 percent. That keeps the card out of the 60s but is alittle noisy. but this card is gonna have to be, its a BEAST.

great
Pros: just bought a whole new phenom II based asus M4A79 mobo pc. with vista 64 bit installed works like a dream maxing out settings with games.
Cons: it really does run hot i know everyone says that but wow, with ccc automated fan, idling around 75 degrees celcius. and i did have to mess with it a little bit to get the 3d applications to work but nothing major and all the tools that i used came with either vista my mobo or the card itself.
Other Thoughts: i am happy so far with my purchase my xclio windtunnel case though is another story...

Cons: need to set up fan to keep temps down.
Other Thoughts: paired with m3a79-t mb, phenom II 940 @ 3.6, zalman 1000 w ps, 4g ocz reaper 1066,

Epic Fail
Pros: Supposedly works well, when it works.
Cons: Bought two for Crossfire action, both cards booted fine by themselves, however in SLI I had nothing but troubles, and spent 2 months trying to resolve the issue in my spare time. Finally decided to stress test both cards individually, and sure enough within seconds of stressing one of the cards it broke entirely.
Seriously hoping to RMA both of these cards since the one that does work will not run full screen graphics without blinking rapidly and running at about 2fps.
Other Thoughts: Let me save you the time, trouble, and money, if you're dropping this much on a graphics card, pick up an Nvidia 285gtx, at least it will work.
Asus Rampage Extreme (dont buy this bollox either, it has serious issues) 4gb Patriot DDR3 2000 (was great till my RE fried one of the sticks, asus refuses to foot the bill) Q9650 @ 4.5ghz under water. 1600watt Ultra PSU

Excellent card, runs hot!
Pros: Fantastic resolution, I play Crysis on a 30" monitor, and this card doesn't even stutter.
Cons: I've only had it a few months, and already the fan is wearing out. I started hearing a scraping, stuttering noise, and next thing I know, my computer totally shut down. Popped open the case and found the fan on this card had taken a nose dive. Unfortunately it's beyond neweggs return policy, and I'm getting no where with Sapphire fast. Trying to find a good aftermarket fan. If anyone knows of a really good one that will fit on this card, let me know! m.s.austin@gmail.com
Other Thoughts: I love this card, makes playing games on a 30" monitor rock. Just wish the fan had been better quality. I'd have given it more eggs, but with the fact I now have to have my case side removed and the case on it's side in order to use it, and the non-existent support from Sapphire, it really took the joy out of owning such an awesome card. I won't buy another Sapphire product, that's for sure.

$50.00 Dollar fee for RMA lol WHAT???
Pros: NONE.... see below.
Cons: I was one of the early adopters of this card and paid a very high premium when the card came out. My card suddenly would not have video signal to my LCD , the card suddenly died on my , i guess due to the very high heat of this monster overtime. I submitted for RMA and to my surprise there was a hidden fee to send the card for RMA of $50.00 US Dollars lol because i live in Puerto Rico wich its part of the United States and it was never mentioned before on the warranty service :/ . Sapphire customer support sucks and they are very arrogant people , they will give you the run around in order for you not to RMA your card to them. FACT theres hidden fees for warranty and they wont tell you , they will not honor the warranty and will treat you as a criminal just beacuse your card have problems and is defective and needs repairs. For me Paying $50.00 RMA fee + $32.00 shiping = $82.00 Dollars out of my pocket that i will loose just because their card stop functining propperly.
Other Thoughts: SaPPhire company are thiefs as they will not honor the warranty and have hidden charges that people dont know about and there is no mention of this anywhere on their website. I WILL NEVER BUY ANY SAPPHIRE PRODUCT EVER AGAIN ,BUYERS BEWARE OF THE SCAM ON THE WARRANTY OF SAPPHIRE. THERES NOT SUCH WARRANTY AS THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY SERVICE. SAPPHIRE YOU ARE NOT A GOOD COMPANY AS YOU DO NOT STAND BY YOUR CUSTOMERS WHEN IN NEED ,BAD COMPANY BAD .........................................

Solid
Pros: Solid performance, no issues. Haven't pushed it hard yet, but in my Armor+ case, I don't notice the fan at all. I like that it just works perfectly with no problems.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Phenom II x4 940 BE, RAID-10 (4x 500 GB drives), Sapphire HD4870x2, PC Power & Cooling 1200W, 8 GB Corsair Dominator-Fan, LG BD Burner H20LK, Samsung DVD S223Q, Zalman 9500, Vista Ultimate 64, Thermaltake Armor+ 6000BWS
