good for the whole month it worked
Pros: had solid fps, wish it would have lasted
Cons: I will never be purchasing from Sapphire again, I got this card and it lasted a good month and a half and It had a solid fps on most games and was flawless, then came the problems. I started to get all of these graphical errors and skips that I should absolutely not be getting on a computer with my specs with this card. My fps dropped to a low 50-60 in almost all games and the card just keeps declining. I talked to sapphire to try and get an RMA and they responded quickly but besides that the process is awful. They expect me to mail my only graphics card that I have across the country for 2-4 weeks, and make me pay for the shipping for their dud card. Not going to happen.
Other Thoughts: really wish that this card didn't die out, I was very satisfied at first, but it had to die =/.
it seems I am also not even close to the only one experiencing problems with this card

worthless
Pros: it worked well at one point?
Cons: Will never be buying from sapphire again, the card came and worked for about a month, and then it just took a dive and my fps is extremely low on all games and I get all this lag (games will skip frames and freeze and etc and I'm sure it is not a latency issue as well trust me, happens in offline games)
then sapphire expects me to pay for shipping for an RMA all the way across the country and wait up to 4 weeks for a new card since they gave me dud when I have a single computer with no other graphics cards around
Other Thoughts: I don't seem to be the only one that has had trouble with this card

Great...while it lasted
Pros: Great price for performance. Great review at THG for 4850 series.
Cons: Screen image died while in use. Lasted a little over a month (BIOS error, AMI 1 long, 3 short on old ASUS M2V). Replaced RAM and tried different slots...still error. Put in old 3870 and back in business.
Other Thoughts: Can't return to newegg (over 30-days). Now, to see how Sapphire RMA process flows :-(

Excellent Performance for the Price
Pros: Excellent video card. My settings are nearly maxed out on all games I own, including Crysis, without breaking a sweat, and this is just a single. Even an incremental increase to the stock clock and memory speeds allow for max settings without a hiccup. The performance this card pumps out is comparable to that of a nVidia GTX 260. At the time, it was cheaper than the GTX 260. Not bad, AMD/ATI. Not bad at all.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Had this baby for about 8 months, and looking forward to buying another to run in Crossfire configuration. This one DID reset itself once two months ago, but only once. I discovered this to have occurred due to downloading the newest driver on the day it arrived... only to have that driver expire as a result of an updated driver being published the very next day. The moral - Even if you think you have the newest driver, continue checking about once every two weeks just to see if a newer one sprouts.
This card was purchased to replace the dying ATI Radeon X1900, and to keep my rapidly aging HP XP Media Center Edition 32-bit system alive a bit longer.
The system: Intel Pentium D 830 (3.0GHz CPU, 800MHz FSB) 1.5GB DDR2 800MHz System RAM Maxtor 300GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache HDD Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 video card Happauge WinTV tuner with digital audio input, FM, composite, & S-video HP Proprietary mid-tower media center case w/ front-mounted video, audio, USB, Firewire, and media dr

Radeon HD 4850
Pros: A wonderful card for the money. I am running Windows 7 and all I had to do was hook it up and the drivers were installed for me. I played a little Guild Wars to try it out and it worked fantastically.
Cons: It is a little wider than most older video cards and takes up two slots on the motherboard, but that is really little problem with most motherboards offering sound and network integrated these days.

great for the price
Pros: Cheap for the price, great performance
Cons: Does not OC well, I only got 5mhz more, and the software likes to bind itself to every context menu. You can edit this in the registry though.

great card for the money
Pros: this card has run 90% of the games i play at max settings. WOW is almost maxed. ordering a 2nd one for crossfire.
Cons: on dfi motherboards put it in pci-e slot 2, in slot 1 the graphics driver has to reset, and that does get on your nerves when your in the BG's on wow. it's an easy fix. other than that rock solid. I was going to take of 1 egg for it ,but i think its on dfi's end. i tried it on my old asus mobo and it works like a charm.
Other Thoughts: ATI rules

Other Thoughts: good card for a good price, but i didn't pay for a piece of junk.

2 Cards, neither one lasted
Pros: Was able to run everything at highest graphics settings for a few days
Cons: Died after a few days.
Other Thoughts: The first card lasted 3 days and then I got no video at all. RMA'd it for a replacement. That card lasted about a week before I started getting artifacts and it would cause the system to reboot every few minutes. I am now running just fine on an old 2600 HD.

glad i bought it
Pros: great card, have no problems and complaints
Cons: has trouble playing some games in 1080p but what do you expect for this great price!
Other Thoughts: if your your looking for something to play the latest and greatest in 1080p, send a little more and get the 4890 you wont be disjointed :D

Pros: Great FPS on most games with maxed settings.
Cons: Runs really hot, constant monitor signal loss and crashes on many games.
Other Thoughts: I bought this card just over a year ago and it sat on my desk until I built a computer with it about four months ago. Ran great on Fallout 3, Crysis, and FarCry 2, but it has started to crash a lot and is running a lot hotter than it used to. I'm now playing Darkfall and I'm having a common problem with the card where my monitor's signal goes out followed immediately by a crash. It has made gaming next to impossible. I am about a week over my 1 year return period so I guess I'm out of luck. Will definitely not make the mistake of giving ATI a chance ever again.

OK
Pros: Videos are good. Scores 6.5 in windows 7. Runs cool after I got the fan running.
Cons: Bad fan controller. As other reviewers said, it either stops or runs 100%. Most ppl get it running at full speed. But mine just stays still and barely moves. I have to use the northbridge fan connector on the mobo to control this fan.
Lukily I found out the problem in time and it didn't burn the card, only overheat to blue screen.
3dmark06 are not much better than my old 8800GTS 320MB.
Other Thoughts: It's a 2-pin fan connector, so if you want to control the speed you have to use a PWM fan connector. Most 3pin mobo fan connector should do well.
Be sure you control the fan speed, otherwise it's noisy at 100%.

Black Screen during use
Pros: Runs fast (when it runs). Easily overclocked. Great value for money.
Cons: Is not stable enough to use without fear of crashing. I had one card go to a black screen during web browsing (or any other activity) very regularly. It would seem like I would get a few hours use, then at the most inconvenient time would just fail to output video anymore. The computer would still function in the background, just no video. I leave my computer on 24/7 so would often come back to the PC to find that there was no video.
I thought perhaps something was wrong with my PSU, so I bought a new OCZ 700 watt PSU, new OCZ RAM, plus got an RMA replacement for the 4850. Exact same issue. I also occasionally will get a bluescreen of death instead of no video. Reformatted PC and tried Vista, XP, and Windows 7. None work.
An older Radeon 3850 works fine (I know this because I used it while waiting for the replacement 4850 to arrive).
(NOTE: even when nothing is overclocked I get the same issues)
Other Thoughts: I wish I could get my money back.

Card died, bro recommended
Pros: We put the same card in my brother's computer and he loves it. It was very quiet in my computer.
Cons: My card died after a few weeks of very little use. Came back one day, after a few hours of being away, and the card would not output video any more. Tried it is a couple computers and confirmed it was dead. A few similar reviews were posted in July, so maybe there was a troublesome batch in early July?
Other Thoughts: Three stars because it worked fine for desktop use, was quiet and works well for my bro, but died for me. Decided to go with a slightly lower-end card in my build, so going for the refund.

Can't recommend enough
Pros: I cannot recommend this GPU enough. The price on this is fantastic, the heat sink and fan actually does a decent job. The speed is definitely more than enough. It is a great card for a budget gamer. ATI makes amazing cards, Nvidia fan boys will say otherwise, but in reality the products that company has come out with, when compared to Nvidia cards in the same price range, are way better. Take that into consideration.
Cons: Large card, make sure you have room in your case.

Dead Dog
Pros: Specs promise a good card at a good price.
Wow, my First RMA! Draws a vacuum.
Cons: The card doesn't deliver, no video. Installed my 7900gs and let there be video. Put the dead dog back in and it's still dead. The 2 LEDs, on the backside of the card, flash on once and Nada.
Other Thoughts: I bought this for the new build: Phenom II X4 940, Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P, G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066, CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W.

Other Thoughts: AMD phenom II 940, 4 gigs of ocz reaper 1066, gigabyte mobo, 2 4850's in crossfire, seagate barracuda 320 gig sata2. mark03=45,800 mark06=16,420

Best card for cash
Pros: Unbelievably affordable card. overclocks very well and stays cool, quiet fan relative to my cpu fan even at max speed (not that you need to run it at max speeds) the CCC (catalyst control center) is a pleasure to use. also its the best card for your cash right now
Cons: my motherboard only has 1 pcie slot so i couldn't try it out in CF
Other Thoughts: why haven't you bought this card yet?

Great Cards
Pros: Stock cooling is better than most.
Cons: Memory does get a little warm under heavy stress. Running the fan @ 100% keeps the card cool, but does generate a lot of noise
Other Thoughts: Ive got 2 of these in crossfire, and I can handle anything I play at 1920x1080 with ease.

Got a dud.
Pros: Great while it lasted.
Cons: It lasted two days.
Other Thoughts: Card only lasted two days before I got a blank screen in the middle of web browsing of all things. Even though I hadn't overclocked anything, I had been keeping an eye on the temps of everything in my new build and they were fine, so the card wasn't getting stressed much at all. Verified it was the card by borrowing a different one from a friend, which immediately worked.
Hopefully the next will be better. Kinda sucks waiting for the replacement RMA, but such is life.

Other Thoughts: Newegg c.s 5 star as always

Well Priced Midline Gaming Card
Pros: This card has good quality and performance at a decent price.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Replaced some 3870's I had in crossfire for over a year that performed great while overclocked. Hope these cards last as long.
Make sure you uninstall the drivers before installing the new drivers even thoughthe new drivers are suppose to remove old ones they don't get everything and it causes some strange video behavior. Everything fixes after I did full uninstall of old drivers.

Best card in it's price range
Pros: Fastest card for it's price, will beat any NVidia card in the same price category and above.Better than any 8800GTS,GTS250 or 9800gt card.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: This is the best choice out there and thanks to ATI for keeping in the race with this awesome card.Don't take my word for it read the reviews.

Excellent value
Pros: The product: Price, performance, value. My "Windows Experience Index" jumped from 3.1 to 7.9 on all the video-related tests. The original video was the northbridge's HD3300 video with 128M sideport ram.
2-day select shipping via UPS: Package arrived in perfect condition the day after it was picked up from NewEgg.
Cons: My systems "Windows Experience Index" is now limited by my hard drive and processor. Who would have thought? Still, it did jump from 3.1 to 5.4.
Other Thoughts: This is my first experience with a double-slot-width video card. This thing is BIG! My case is a mid-sized tower. The motherboard's PCIe 1x slot is completely unusable, although the other PCIe 16x slot is still available. It took unplugging the power and data cabling from the hard drives, and the case exhaust fan, inserting the video card, then rerouting all of the cabling a bit differently to not interfere with the air flow inside the case. My power supply has well-protected cables, and this made the routing a bit of a challenge because of the diameter of the individual cable sets. But, the challenge of setting up my system the way I want it is part of the fun of not buying a pre-built system.

HD4850
Pros: great price great performance, dual HDMI ports, 2 of these will out perform higher 4870+ cards according to Tom's Hardware I think.
Cons: 512megs of memory I guess
Other Thoughts: I got this card and I am happy that I did. With the mail in rebate that I did recieve unlike one of the posters, here I paid 85.00 shipped for this thing.

Pros: This card is able to run dual monitors with no problems. Able to play Oblivion and Neverwinter Knights 2, The Witcher, with no problems.
I had no issues installing the card on a Asus P5Q Pro Turbo motherboard.
This card is small and easy to install. (I have a full tower case, so it seems small to me) The fan is vary quite. Able to run 3D apps in linux just fine. The linux driver works with just a few Xorg tweaks.
This card is great for some one who does not have the budget to get a higher end card. I am currently upgrading to a 4890 card to play Sacred 2 with higher settings.
Able to overclock this card to 700mhz/1050mhz with no issues with air cooled.
Cons: The HDMI integration on this card did cause some audio conflicts. ( I have AudialsOne installed on my system with a sandblaster X-fi. So when I do sound editing the card conflicts with AudialsOne when importing audio from a import source.)
Same thing happens with Linux. Linux will see the HDMI port and try and configure it. Had to run alsaconf each time I installed a audio program.
Other Thoughts: This is a great card for the money.

Great budget video card
Pros: Over the last 8 months, the ATI 4850 has performed very well using an older flat panel monitor (1280x1024). While it has a lower performance than video cards based on the ATI 4870/4890, nVidia GTX 260/275/285 GPUs, it has handled games like Bioshock (full detail settings) with no problems. Cooling also has not been a problem. If you want a low-cost, excellent-performing video card, you should strongly consider this video card.
Cons: As a minor consideration, the fan on the card is large and just to give this card as much air-flow as possible, I left the next slot empty.
Other Thoughts: Given the low-cost and excellent performance, I would buy more of these cards given the opportunity.

OHHHHH YEAH!!!
Pros: This card is super duper fast. If you're an Nvidia fan, get the 9800GTX+. If you're an ATI fan, get this. They're like the same thing I think.
L4D: 100 - 120 fps
Cons: I gave this GPU 4 eggs because when I got it, it didn't work. Whenever I installed the drivers, my comp wouldn't boot up. Weird... anyways, read my other thoughts section...
Other Thoughts: ... I Contacted Sapphire support and after a couple of days of back and forth emailing they told me to just send the card to them. I don't know what they did to it but now it works and it's freakin awesome!! What's weird now is when I play L4D I get only about 40 fps when my monitor's refresh rate is set to 60Hz, but 100 - 120 when it's set to 70 Hz. It might just be my super old LCD, but I wanted to post this in case anyone runs into the same problem. Hope this helps.
All in all, I'd definitely recommend this card. It's awesome...
PS I hope this card can play SC2

Not bad at all
Pros: Great card. Cheap for what you get. Great cooling fan!
Cons: Not a X2 or 4870 >.>
Other Thoughts: Wish I of went with a X2 or 4870. Seriously though after fooling around with the card for a little bit. The fan doesn't get loud till around 60%. From there on there isn't much sound change even when you bump it to 100%. Which... why would it need to even be that high. I got my to OC to 700 mhz. Haven't had any problems.

Beware of Sapphire Rebates!
Pros: The card is good, large cooling solution works.
Cons: Sapphire and myrebates411.com never sent me the $20 rebate, bought back on 8/30/08. myrebates411.com even took the entry off of my account info. I will be contacting the State Attorney General.
Other Thoughts: I won't buy Sapphire anymore and deal with the shady rebates. Caveat Emptor!

Exceptional budget performance!
Pros: I bought this card in Nov of last year when I built my new system. It was the best bang for the buck graphics at the time (and might still be) and I desperately wanted to play Team Fortress 2 at higher resolutions.
This card has delivered! I play at 1280 x 1024 with all high settings, and this card never goes below 80 fps even in the heaviest action. I'm very pleased.

fantastic card
Pros: Huge upgrade from my old 7800gt. boosted frame rates by about 250 percent. Card is actually a quarter inch smaller than the 7800. I don't understand why people say it gets too hot. If you have a decent case cooling system its fine. Idles around 45 loads to about 60
Cons: Catalyst driver is a little choppy when changing settings
Other Thoughts: I bought the open box for about 100 bucks....can't go wrong

Great
Pros: Great card, runs almost all source games on all high at 1920x 1080 with 150-200 FPS. Runs Far Cry 2 on very high at 1920x 1080 perfectly, lag a little when ever big fires start, but its still completely playable, no heat problems either.
Cons: None that i can think of.

Price/Performance Leader
Pros: Big, fast, powerfull. Upper 5% of all video cards available.
Cons: A little big so you'll have to move some cables around.
Other Thoughts: Research, research, research. I didn't jump into this purchase lightly. This isn't the fastest card on the planet but it's definitely in the upper crust performance wise. Considering I'm more of a musician than a gamer this card is probably overkill for my digital audio workstation, but I wanted an overall quality PC and this in conjuction with the rest of what I've installed will allow me to push the computing limits in any direction without drop out.

Pros: Cheap with promo code and rebate. Final price is down to $110 with free shipping. Runs great and it can take on anything I've thrown at it so far. I dont play Crysis, so I can't comment on that.
Cons: The card heats up quite a bit even with Arctic Silver. It gets up to 80 degress on certain games. Though it runs in the 70s on most games.
Other Thoughts: I am giving only 4 stars because of the heat.

Awesome graphics card
Pros: PCI Express 2.0, CrossFire, and runs Left4Dead on max settings, no problems, as well as some other games at max settings.
Cons: GDDR3 is getting a little bit old.
Other Thoughts: I'll probably buy a second one in the future, which will really make it worth while, hopefully.

ATI is solid video
Pros: (you should know I have the computer spread on a sheed of steel above head height open to the air in front of me.) Its quest. The fan might be a faint hum under the sound of the 2 fan 550w power supply and CPU fan. Can run 2 intensive games at the same time on dual display (30 and 75fps in the situation I tested). My last combination (video card/os/cpu/memory) crashed often due to video demands. No more crashes.
Cons: It is large because of heat sink and fan. This card is designed to occupy the space for 2 slots, and probably needs a third for breath space around the fan.
Other Thoughts: I paired this video card with MB(ASUS M4A79 deluxe) MEM(Kingston KVR800D2K2/4GR(thats two 2GB sticks)) OS(windows vista home premium) CPU(AMD Phenom II X4 810 at 2.6GHz) and (currently a 550w PS a 500GB SATA Seagate HD and no other drives.) (I have not attempted the rebate as of yet.)
In my opinion, older video cards will crash more often (from every few minutes to not at all) when facing the demands of current software(games/3D applications)

Awesome card, great value
Pros: Great card. I can play almost any game at its highest settings with no performance issues. Fan maintains an acceptable noise level even under heavy loads and long gameplay.
Cons: None that I've noticed.
Other Thoughts: Obviously performance might vary by system and OS, but I've had excellent results and my system isn't all that fancy: 3GHz Core 2 Duo (E8400), 4Gb DDR2 800, Sapphire HD 4850, 250Gb HDD, Vista Home Premium x64.

Great card, Wonderful Preformance
Pros: The card is great. Runs most resolutions without any problems. Ran Crysis with around 45FPS on Medium and 25FPS oh high. I'd say thats saying something for the price on hand. Drivers are great, no problems at all. The card is relatively small compared to beast monsters that put out graphics of about the same quality a year ago.
Cons: The stock cooler runs a little hot, and the back of the card could probably fry an egg, but it is without doubt the best stock cooler as far as the 4850 series goes.
Over clocking is not very effective. Over clocking the memory over clock is not possible. One tweak and the computer will freeze until you take it off.
This card is what the specs are, is what you get.
Other Thoughts: Comes with everything you need, no extra cables needed.

well....
Pros: well, the CCC is a decent tool
Cons: i have been getting the infamous atikmdag driver problems in vista32. its really some B*S and is seriously inhibiting my game play.... which a VERY serious con, considering thats precisely what i got it for. its infuriating, really, because people have been experiencing this for a long time, and NOTHING has helped. i will most likely be returning this product.
Other Thoughts: i hope this problem either gets resolved or i get a better card that doesnt suffer from this nonsense.

Outstanding
Pros: Able to play every game that I've wanted to play on almost all high settings with a maxed frame rate (30 FPS for some due to DX9 and me running XP)
It was a great leap from my GeForce FX5200 and I was astounded at the increase in performance
Cons: Kind of big, had to readjust some cables and such. Runs a little hot so you might need to adjust fan speed.
Biggest con was the ati2dvag.dll file. Mine is corrupted or something, so there are crashed every now and then, but not enough to make me want to return it or anything.

Great Value
Pros: Great performance for the dollar. Overclocks well* (see cons) For the price it's hard to beat this card and single card will run most games with good settings at lower resolutions. Performance scales well in cross fire. (for ATi profile games and benchmarks)
Cons: Does not overclock at all in -cross fire- (system hangs with any adjustment) nVidia profile games (IE Crysis, CoD WaW etc) do not scale well in cross fire not the cards fault however 512MB Performance falls off dramatically at higher resolutions Fan may be a bit noisy in a quiet environment (latest catalyst control center allows you to manually adjust speed however)
Other Thoughts: I would recommend an 1GB (a must for higher resolutions) card and probably a 4870 but for just over one hundred bucks each (caught a good sale and rebate) I couldn't pass this up. Plays RA3 max settings without a hitch (haven"t played much else sorry) 3d Mark06- *12100 marks stock settings *14200 marks @ 3.7GHz *19700 marks @ 3.7GHz Cross Fire 45% is the maximum theoretical gain (from 1 card to 2) using CF/SLi Asus M4A79 Deluxe Phenom II 940 2x2GB Dominator 1066 Sapphire HD4850 (x2 cross fire) OCZ Core Series SSD

Big Bang
Pros: This dual-slot card is a perfect blend of price and performance. Fills the budget gaming niche better than any other card (except arguably the Nvidia GTS250 -sans 9800GTX). But, the GTS is older technology. In game, I am seeing awesome things with the HD 4850 that I never saw with my GTX260 setup. Stuff like flames shooting out of the end of my carbine, and real-life blue smoke and lighting effects, and vivid multi-colored sparks when I shoot at metal. I actually pulled my GTX260 Sli cards out in favor of this "one" card, because I see and enjoy so much more detail in every game -which makes gaming so much more interesting and fun. I actually plan to scrap my SLi setup all together, in favor of purchasing the slightly more powerful HD 4870 2GB card. I was never an ATI fan, but this card has made me see the light - LITERALLY! But whether this card or the 4870, I can personally attest to the quality of these products..they are top notch in every way.
Cons: Absolutely none. Drivers loaded easily, no issues whatsoever.
Other Thoughts: If you can afford it, buy the HD 4870. The 4850 card plays all current games at "near max" settings with acceptable fluidity, but sits right on the edge of choppiness at 1680X1050 maxed out (28-45 fps, Far Cry 2). I expect the HD 4870 1GB or 2GB model will play the same games/settings at much better frame rates, so that one can max out all settings and retain the smoothness demanded in gaming (minus Crysis & Warhead, of course). But, for the thrifty and smart gamer, the HD 4850 512mb comes highly recommended!

Performs Well
Pros: This card works great for 3D graphics. Performs with everything I throw at it. Performed substantially better than the NVidia 9800GT that was in the system prior.
Cons: Overclocking was glitchy. Not a big deal since it really doesn't need it, but not as stable overclocked as some of the other ATi cards I have. Could not get it to pass audio though DVI/HDMI. I followed the directions at ATi and Vista says it is working, but still no sound. Again, not a real big deal since most people don't use that.
Other Thoughts: The Audio did pass though the DVI on the motherboard (ATi HD3200), but would not work through the card. I tried the overclocking in both Vista and XP. It would work for a while but then randomly bring up the VPU recoverer. Usually with something somewhat intensive like Warhammer (although it runs fine on high setting without overclocking).

Solid Performer, Bad batches
Pros: This card performs. I can put all my games on to max settings, and this card doesn't even flinch. Power saving features are nice too, it clocks itself down automatically when it's not under load.
Cons: I ordered 2 of these cards, one for me, one for my brother. My card ended up having faulty RAM, and my brother's would artifact at low temperatures. We RMA'ed both cards and received new ones which are both working well.

Hard to review
Pros: Price/performance can't be beat. Fan appears to be of decent quality.
Cons: First card I bought had faulty ram. Ram has no heatsinks. Fan is a little loud, packaging is very bare bones and doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the brand. Can eek out a slight bump in speed with overclocking, but because of the naked ram, you can't push it very far.
Other Thoughts: It's very hard to find fault with a card at this price point. It really is an outstanding performer. It's just not perfect, and my review has to reflect the fact that i got a faulty card the first time.

Great FPS
Pros: The motherboard recognized the card immediatly and I'm getting 70 FPS on left 4 dead (as long as the hoard isn't attacking) then it drops to about 40. A lot faster the my 7800 gt. (been a while since I updated)
Cons: non that I can tell
Other Thoughts: the picture doesn't show but this does take up two slots. I was planning on putting a fire wire port for the second slot since the picture only showed that it took up one. no biggie since the second slot has vents which will help air flow.

Great Card
Pros: Runs everything I need very fast, cool and quiet.
Cons: Takes up two slots but my chassis is big enough to handle it. Also, it idles in the mid 40Cs. That seems a little but not a problem.
Other Thoughts: The games I play are all 1-2 years old tech-wise...Oblivion, Bioshock etc. So, I don't how how well it manages cutting edge games. I have the card paired with a Phenom II 940.

Great Card
Pros: Needed a new computer with a fairly cheap but great video card. Handles everything I throw at it which is pretty much only Dawn of War II at full settings. Hasn't given me any trouble so I totally approve. I keep my fan settings at 50% for 43C at idle or just basic tasks, and 75% for about 45C while gaming.
Cons: None at all.
Other Thoughts: ATI Overdrive is great for adjusting the fan settings and performance. Keeps noise level low and temps at just the right amount if you want or crank it up just the same.

I'm still lovin' it.
Pros: Fast, runs cool, pretty quiet for the most part. Bioshock, Oblivion, Fallout 3, you name it, this card will run it maxed out. I run at 1440 x 900, but still, this card gives the best bang for your buck. Picture quality is amazing.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I bought this card as part of my new system build back in November 2008, and I don't regret it in the least bit. If you need a card, buy this one. You won't be disappointed.

Happy with this 4850.
Pros: This card gives me absolutely fantastic performance, especially for the price. I completely rebuilt my system, and with the video card I jumped from an X800 to this 4850, so my gaming experiences with this card have been astounding. ATI has never let me down, and this card is another great example of their commitment to quality.
Cons: This isn't really a con, because I've ordered so much from Newegg that statistically speaking it was bound to happen, but the first card I received was DOA and I had to RMA it. It's not a big deal, though, as the replacement works perfectly.
The RMA process leaves a little to be desired, but it's all good.
Other Thoughts: My LCD monitor only has a maximum resolution of 1280x1024, so I'm not really pushing this card to its limits. Still, at that resolution everything looks fantastic and the card never falters, so it's really nothing to complain about.

It's Working Fine.
Pros: It's fast, it plays all my games really well with a 1920x1200 resolution, and holds up pretty well. The temperature doesn't seem to get extremely hot, and the catalyst software is pretty easy to use.
Cons: I have had some driver issues, which is the only reason I knocked off an egg. On my old x1600 pro, the drivers were rock solid. On this card however, there have been multiple occasions where I will be browsing the net or just sitting there, and the screen will go black, then return only to have Windows tell me that the display driver has stopped working but has recovered. Not a huge deal, but I would like for that to not happen. Fortunately, it hasn't happened while playing games, but I wouldn't put it past it.
Other Thoughts: It was a cheap, higher end video card so that's why I got it. I would like to get another one and run dual cards, however I need to wait until I get a larger PSU before I do that. The card works well other than the driver issue though!

Great card for the money!
Pros: Runs great, easy to install, and is perfect for overclockers. What more can you ask for (besides a 4870 x2)? I am running WOW on high settings 1680x1050 and getting 60fps constant. I can also play Crysis on medium settings 1680x1050 and it runs smoothly.
Cons: I Had to take a fan out of my case to make it fit, but my system still runs cool!
Other Thoughts: My system: TA780g M2+ Mobo AMD 6000+ Processor OC'd at 3.255 4 gigs of OCZ fatal1ty edition RAM Sunbeam Freezing-Storm IC-FS-BK case a 650W antec power supply This card OC'd I have the gpu clock to 680MHz and the memory clock to 1180MHz a Western Digital HDD 7200rpm Windows XP

You won't beat this card anywhere near this price.
Pros: Fast and cheap. I highly doubt you'll find a better card at anywhere near this price. Runs cool and quiet.
Cons: Not a 4870X2. That's about it.
Other Thoughts: Just built a gaming system, this card runs Crysis butter-smooth on all-high. Crossfiring a 2nd one of these in tomorrow.

Love Sapphire!
Pros: Overclocks great and the stock HS/ Fan is great.
Cons: stock cooler isn't good for crossfire if your PCI express slots are close together. Leaves only 3/16" for cool air to get to intake side of fan. The top card runs about 15-20 degrees Celsius hotter ( i have two of these :) than bottom card.
Other Thoughts: With all that being said, with one card at a time I can bench @ 750/1200 all day. In crossfire only 735/1150 because of my mobo spacing. Stock cooling on all my equipment and great airflow from Antec Nine Hundred.

I'm done with ATI
Pros: Good performance for its price, when it works.
Cons: Hitching in 24p Blu-ray playback that caused me to get a standalone player, terrible artifacts in accelerated H.264 playback, random flashes of graphics corruption in many games, Company of Heroes will only run at 1080i and not 1080p, and now Empire: Total War visuals are completely corrupted with Shader Model 3.0 enabled.
Other Thoughts: This was the final straw and I don't think I'll be buying another ATI card.

Hot potato!!!
Pros: Good price
Cons: I have 3 4850 cards. This one runs significantly hotter (+/- 30 degrees). The heatsink looks beefy and the fan works but for some reason it's not enough to keep this one running even moderately cool. By the time I pulled this one out of my case, the circuit board (the card) had warped and the area around the chip on the card was discolored (a lovely dark brown to blue gradient). I have a different model 4850 from Sapphire that runs without issue so look around cause there are many 4850s on the market in a similar price range.
Other Thoughts: I have not tried an aftermarket HSF / RAM sink set on this card but would do so before ever trying to use it again. I did install a set on my other Sapphire and its fine so maybe that's what it needs although the ASUS version worked fine without modification.

Sweet
Pros: This is an awesome bang for your buck card. It plays everything that I have tossed at it. Crysis,COD 4,5 FarcryII...
Cons: It is a bit big, as it takes up to slots. But I knew this going into it. Runs a lil warm, Crossfire...Sets up good, the second card sits real close to the bottom of my case. but oh well.... I didn't get the rebate from who ever offered it. said that I never sent the upc code off the box.. Yeah right!!!
Other Thoughts: I have two of these bad boys on as M3A79-T Deluxe, I messed around and took the black fan gaurd off of both of them and the temps dropped a few degree's... You have to take the whole heatsink off to get at the screws that hold the fan gaurd into place (3) of them.... It worked. But thats what I do.....

Great card
Pros: I love this card. It is fast, not really huge, and plays all of my games at great frame rates (except for crysis, but I get around 40-50 with it)
Cons: Dual slot Cannot volt mod (my last one I did that to destroyed my system)
Other Thoughts: I really do not know what some of these guys are talking about. This bad boy doesn't really run that hot at all. If you put the fan speed up to 85% + it runs really cool. I have OC this to 680 core 1050 mem and ran fine (but this card doesn't like OC anyway so keep it stock).`I have even had it at 690 1188 before and ran without any problems (but again, it didn't like long periods of game play due to it being unstable at those clocks).
My temps at stock: Core idle: 39C Core Load: 65C
OC @ 690 Idle: 39C OC @ 690 Load: 73C
Mem stock: 45C Mem load: around 50-55C tops
OC stayed around the same fore mem (about 60C)

"Hot" deal
Pros: - Installed on new build (vista 64) with no problems. I didn't bother with the drivers on the disk, I just got the latest ones (9.1 at the time) off AMD/ATi's website.
- Looks nice.
- I have no idea how loud it is as my case fans run 100% when the PC is on.
Cons: - ATi swears up and down that these GPUs can run near 100 Celcius all day long. Maybe so, but in my opinion as a semiconductor mfg. tech., that is WAY too hot for ANY chip made with contemporary fabrication technologies.
- (Pro or Con depending on your perspective) - Even with a 2-slot cooling solution, this card idled in the 50's and ran around 80 under load (given a 35 degree "case" temperature). If you go by what ATi says, that's actually not bad at all; but, there was no way I was going to accept that.
- no heatsinks on the memory.
- I didn't even THINK of overclocking this w/the stock cooling solution, folks.
Other Thoughts: - (For those with system building and overclocking experience - *do NOT void your warranty w/the below mod unless you know what you're doing*) - My aftermarket cooling solution (accelero twin turbo) brought the temperatures down to reasonable levels: idles low 40s, load never above 65 with the maximum overclock allowed by Catalyst Control Center (700 MHz - up from 625).
- With the above in mind, I ended up with a card + aftermarket cooling solution that cost as much as a stock 4870 card. Fortunately, this card now runs at or near stock 4870 speed at 1/2 the temperature or less. I fully expect it to still be running 5 years from now.

Pros: Runs anything i have thrown at it, runs really cool compaired to the other reviews that people have given it. I have it overclocked at 700/1200 and under full load it runs around 68c and idles at around 40c. Get 30FPS in crysis full settings no AA at 1920x1200. Stomps any nVidia card in its price range and even threatens the GTX260.
Cons: Cooler takes up 2 slots, but it works great so hey what ever.
Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a great budget gaming card BUY THIS NOW. if you have 20 more bux to spare get the 4870 512. Sapphire all the way i dont trust anyone else.

Not too shabby
Pros: Installed and worked without any problems. I have DVI to DVI going to LCD monitor and DVI to HDMI going to my 42" Sony Bravia. The 1080p at 60hz seems to work very effectively.
Cons: For some reason, running DVI to HDMI to my LCD monitor or TV results in a thick black border around my screen. Using DVI to DVI fixes the problem, but can't do that on the TV. Apparently several people have the same issue and have to manually correct the confiuration script.
Other Thoughts: Hopefully they'll update the drivers to better support HDMI.

RMA is terrible.
Pros: Fairly cheap. Good performance.
Cons: 2 months after use the card would crash any games I played and show artifacts during POST. Sapphire does RMA through Althonmicro (dot) com. They also charge $35 and 4-6 weeks return *after* they recieve it.
Other Thoughts: If you buy this card and you have to RMA it, ask for cross ship from Sapphire. Do not pay a dime like I did. It's their lemon.

Freight train review, oops i meant video card
Pros: good card, fast, etc etc...
Cons: dang fan is louder than everything else in my case. i would think that someone at sapphire would've noticed this when designing it. i have found that they are all like this and throttling the fan with software is your best hope (temps will rise of course).
Other Thoughts: i suppose it's a great card for a loud pc or if it doesn't matter to you about noise. oh, newwegg still rocks.

Pros: This card has an easy to use program that allows you change the perfomance usage of the card. If you're not gaming, you can ramp down it's capabilities to save power. I haven't pushed it yet, but when it's on, I can't hear the fan.
It's Crossfire ready.
Cons: Like a lot of video cards, it has the potential to block ports below it. The fan on board is big, but I've seen worse. So unless you absolutely need every slot available, this card is just fine.

revived my 3 yr old machine
Pros: Not very big. Fan quiet and keep the card cool. plugged into my 3-yr old mobo and started right away. cheapest way to revive a old comp. now my comp will go for another 2 years easy.
Cons: non
Other Thoughts: backwards compatible with PCIE x16 (like all other PCIE 2.0 cards). power consumption is not bad. it even runs on my 430W antec true power 2 with 2 optical drive, 2 hard drives, and a bunch of USB stuff connected--even though 450W is recommended.

Great card
Pros: This card is smoking! Not literally. I can play all of my games on very high settings with 1440x900.
Cons: Kinda loud, but it's not much louder than my older 8800 GTS. It's kinda big also, covers up one of my PCI slots, so keep that in mind. As usual, drivers suck, download them from their website. If you have Vista/Win7 beta, don't let it install drivers automatically, or else you'll have to go through this big set of steps to get CCC & updated drivers.
Other Thoughts: Other than the small cons, card is amazing

defective card but fair support
Pros: Newegg customer service was good as always. It is great for an e-commerce site which is why they are my first choice to purchase computer parts.
The purchase experience was good except that the product description should include a note that this card blocks the slot below it. This was reported to Newegg but Newegg has chosen to not warn buyers which could save customers much pain and suffering.
Sapphire tech support person was knowlegeable, courteous, and even spoke English.
Cons: Although this card is described as being single slot, the fan blocks the port below it. If I had known that before hand, I would not have bought it becasue the slot below it is required for my RAID controller. Instead of returning the card, I bought another motherboard.
The Sapphire graphics card has defective hardware. The card produced colored lines, dots, blocks on the screen (blue, red, white). After installing the driver, the screen went blank. I tried various version of drivers and Catalyst software but with the same result. It would only work in Safe Mode.
Sapphire does not have a toll free phone number. Their tech support and customer service hours are very limited (not 7/24).
The type of DOA problem this card has would have easily been caught if the card had been tested before leaving the factory. The problem has nothing to do with Windows or drivers.
Other Thoughts: I spoke with Sapphire technical support and was told that if the video is corrupt before the operating system loads, then the video adapter is broke. If Sapphire had that information on their website, then I could have ordered a replacement 3 days earlier (tech support not available on nights and weekends).
The Sapphire card cost about $30 more now (rebate closed) so I bought a Gigabyte GV-R485OC-1GH instead. The Gigabyte card costs about $50 more but they have much better support and their quality "appears" to be better.
I give two stars for good technical support experience after I finally reached them. Since this is a product rating, I don't include Newegg's performance in the rating.

Radeon HD 4850
Pros: Connected a HD monitor (DVI) + HD projector (HDMI) through a SONY sound receiver. Fast, and far better display quality than the on board ATI 3xxx integrated graphic.
Cons: Not silent (for HTPC use). ATI HDMI Sound driver is always a pain to install and setup.
Other Thoughts: Even though , the HDMI supports 7.1 channel , getting the proper driver to make it work with a receiver is really a pain (vista 64 bits) ... One of the culptrit is actually most of the blame is on Microsoft, that always installs a bad old limited driver , instead of asking for the proper driver (or updating their driver !!!).

Awesome
Pros: Great value for a great card. Stays very cool in my case but thats got 3 120mm fans and a 200mm fan all running at their lowest rpm's.
Cons: It isn't a 4870 X2
Other Thoughts: All I've really had a chance to test it with is fallout 3, everything cranked, no problems.

GOOD BUY
Pros: FAST, quiet, cool/low temp? the fan is well...funky, i'd like to say its a horrible design, but suffice to say, if it was a solid cooling block on the gfx card like the big'uns, i would not have been able to use my SATA ports....so this is a good thing :-D
Cons: hmm...none i can think of. was upset evga precision tool doesnt work w/this :(
Other Thoughts: first test was farcry2 and it ran superb. all settings default to high. same w/l4d, hl2 mods, etc.

Really Good Card
Pros: This is my first AMD Desktop. HD 4850 is a great card for a reasonable price. Sapphire model has much lower temps. It tears through every game I throw at it. 800 Stream Processing Units is sweet!!
Cons: Still runs a bit hot, but nothing compared to other 4850 models. I had to add a second 120mm fan, no big deal.
Other Thoughts: ATI has really jumped back in the game with the 4850 and 4870. These cards forced Nvidia to drop prices on their high-end cards, so it's good news all around!!
