Very nice!
Pros: Fantastic card overall-- from the design of the heatsink/fan/ducting assembly to the performance, it's just incredible. The included software gives a lot of control over the fan behavior and the overclocking. And while it includes specialized drivers on the CD, it works just fine with Nvidia's drivers.
Cons: It's a large card (but I don't think there's any way around it).
Other Thoughts: Now all the older games that I could just squeak by playing are absolutely liquid smooth. I need to play more new games, but Fallout 3 and Call of Duty "World at War" are nice and smooth.
Sure, it cost a lot, but this card should stand me in good stead for a few years.

I LOVE THIS CARD!!!!!!
Pros: This card runs whatever you want to throw at it. I installed Fallout3 to see the difference from my 8800GTS and I was so blown away I had to play through the game a second time! I am running it max graphics, at 1920x1080 and it doesn't skip a beat!
Cons: BIG. I had to cut a hole in my hard drive tray to fit it.

Defective
Pros: It looks nice.
Cons: No hardware installation manual. Nowhere online either. I guess it's common sense to install these graphics cards or something. But there is a nice CD to show you how to install the installation CD. That is just plain ridiculous. Anyways, the reason why I am complaining about the lack of instructions is because I struggled for hours trying to figure out why this card is not working. My monitor shows nothing. I called ASUS tech support and they concluded that the graphics card is defective. I am extremely upset. I was so excited to try this huge baby out. But customer service was great, I admit. So I RMA'd and newegg should return me a replacement. But I hate having to wait another week or so to receive it.
Next time I may just stick to local retail stores.
Other Thoughts: ASUS needs to stop being cheap and provide hardware instruction manuals. Not everyone grew up with PCI Express cards or whatever. Call me dumb, but give me a picture or something!

PCI Express 1.0 mobo's beware!!!
Pros: Given the hardware specifications, there's no doubt in my mind that this is nothing short of an awesome card. Thanks to this card, I also now have a solid excuse for constructing a Core i7 build; read below.
Cons: Installed the card in an ASUS Striker Extreme Motherboard (which is PCI Express 1.0) and it KILLED IT!! Tried the old cards, known good memory, clear BIOS CMOS - nothing. After 3 years of flawless performance this board will no longer POST. I don't know exactly what went wrong; maybe this card is DOA and took the board down? Or maybe PCI Express 2.0 cards have a little-known problem with killing 1.0 mobo's? Regardless, I'm afraid to do anything with it but leave it in the box for now.
Other Thoughts: I really hate doing this, because I've always used ASUS hardware whenever possible. I've never, ever, had a problem with any of their products - motherboards, laptops, monitors, and past VGA cards until now, but - understandibly, I hope - I just can't give a favorable review to something that destroys a $300 motherboard. I didn't see power requirements for this card anywhere, so I'll give them straight off the box - Minimum 550 watt power supply with 12v current rating of 40A. You also need two 2x3 pin Express supplementary power connectors.

Very Nice Video Card.
Pros: I bought it to run Crysis and have a videocard that I could eventually SLI with another without being too out of date when I had money to buy another. It works very nicely with my case. Asus smart doctor helps out with the heating issues a lot.
Cons: Unfortunately it runs pretty hot with the stock fan. With smart doctor installed, and my fans all on high (I have an Antec Twelve Hundred Case), It runs at about 50c-65c without overclocking at all on Very High settings, which isn't too bad I believe, but it still concerns me. I'm going to invest in another VGA cooler I think. It's also pretty large. The length of it actually made me have to move my SATA plugs to a different port.
Other Thoughts: With a different VGA fan and Tri-SLI capabilities, I think this could be an amazing video card. I'm impressed what it can do by itself. -ASUS Smart Doctor is a MUST!

problem
Pros: The card is great, everything I so seem to be working great. I love the fps in warcraft, man it awsome. My whole computer is build with asus product.
Cons: After 2 month my card start acting weird. When I move my tab around the screen, my screen seem distorted or sometime fuzzle. Now when I play warcraft, it take 2 sec before it start casting spell. Might be a bad card, I don't know.
Other Thoughts: I'm running on a Intel core I7 920 Nehalem 2.66ghz ASUS P6T Deluxe LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard CORSAIR XMS3 6GB DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Vista 64bit Asus Geforce GTX 285 Antec 650watts
If there anything to help me solve this problem would be great....

Pros: This card can play any game out there, no problem. Far Cry 2 and Crysis look beautiful and run very smooth. Just an awesome card altogether.
Cons: Can heat up my bedroom all by itself.

ASUS is Da Bomb!
Pros: ASUS is Da Bomb! The Guy who didn’t even buy this card and he’s crying like a little girl... Have 2 ASUS Radeon HD 4870X2 Cards, they both work like a charm, never one single issue. All my ASUS Boards are the best. ASUS and EVGA For TW is all I have to say...
Cons: Re-tards are allowed to comment & vote one something they didn’t buy (insert hypocrisy here:_________)... On another note - though - I am actually waiting to pick up 2, possibly 3 of these for my i7 build - hello my precious!!!
Other Thoughts: Lots of other thoughts, but none that would be appropriate right now... ASUS For TW!

Pros: Asus is a great company, ive never had any problems. This is a response to the guy who gave it one. A one! He never even bought the thing! He just doesnt like Asus. Cool. Awesome. Just give it a one for no reason. I havent bought it either, my 5 is just to give it a better rating so people will try it.
Cons: ......Probably few. My asus 4870X2 works like a charm
Other Thoughts: Cmon dude. Post your flame somewhere else.

Don't buy ASUS!
Pros: None.
Cons: I have been taken by ASUS for the last time. I will never buy another ASUS product. Tech support is cumbersome and ASUS tends to ignore problems rather than try to fix them. I swore never to buy ASUS again 2 years ago after a bad motherboard experience. Even so, I made the mistake of purchasing a video card from them in late 2008. Tech support is even worse now than it was 2 years ago. If you really think you need an ASUS product, make sure you don’t send in any rebate forms until after you make sure the product works. That way you can still return the piece of junk to Newegg within 30 days for a refund.
Other Thoughts: Asus used to be a great manufacturer. Unfortunately, they no longer care about customer satisfaction. Here is a company that won’t be around in a few years unless they wake up and make some changes.
Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Customer, We are sorry for this inconvenience. Please let us know about the issues you are experiencing by contacting our Technical Support Department at http://vip.asus.com/eservice/techserv.aspx and reference case number "NE318017" so that we can assist you in resolving these issues you are experiencing. Best Regards, ASUS Support Team
