Thermal paste...
Pros: Awesome Zalman heatsink. Card was cheap when i purchased it.
Cons: Noticed the heatsink was a little loose. I removed to see what was up and there was NO THERMAL PASTE!!!! Both the gpu and the sink were shiny as can be. No wonder it overheated and has to be RMA!
Other Thoughts: Will never buy Gigabyte ever again. Also, this card isnt a 3870, its a 3850 OC from the factory to look like a 3870.

Love it
Pros: Zalman heatsink and fan keep it cool, CCC Overdirve "Autotune" puts it at 870MHz clock and 1050MHz ram, inexpensive.
Cons: A little big but it fits in my ATX mid.
Other Thoughts: GDDR4 would have been nice, but the Zalman cooler let's you OC a lot anyway. I Can now play Crysis with the DX9 altered CVarGroups.cfg file on XP w/ Very High settings except for the Motion Blur, which I keep at High. And this is with an old Athlon 64 x2 3800+ @ 2.15 GHz and 3 gigs of DDR-400 on XP x64. and of course all my other games i can max out(COD4, AOE 3, HL2, Bioshock).

Pros: Excellent value. Aftermarket cooler is much quiter then reference. I was a little worried by the fact that the cooler doesn't cover the memory chips, but i have not had any problems. The memory chips are underneath the heatsink. So low profile memory heatsinks could be used and would take advantage of the fan moving air over them. I mainly play CSS. I'm running at 1920x1080P with everything cranked to the max. I get 134FPS. Supports HDMI audio without the need for another soundcard. This is your soundcard!
Cons: Does not include DVI to HDMI adaptor. Not, ATI uses a proprietary pin configuration to allow audio to transmit through the DVI port. A standard DVI to HDMI converter will allow Video to transfer fine, but not Audio. If you want audio you will need Item #: N82E16814999009 . Search google for "Realtek ATI HDMI Audio" This along with Catalyst 8.5 or later are required to allow audio output.

Simple install
Pros: Card ... goes ... vroom! Install was simple, card came with a ton of add-ons, and neverwinter nights 2!
Cons: The Zalman fins were pinched by my Raidmax Aztec (also used in the Smilodon) PCIE retaining bar. Bend and/or snip, and problem solved!
Other Thoughts: Yes, it's not DDR4. I still managed to live. For the money, it's a steal of a deal!

Pros: Excellent performance. Raised my Vista peformance to 5.9. The fan runs quiet. The price is great, and it comes with a free game.
Cons: Nothing wrong with the card itself. Prior to purchasing it, I was concerned whether this card would fit into my Antec Sonata III case. But neither Newegg, or Gigabyte had any information on their websites about the length of the card. Hence the 4 eggs, instead of 5.
Other Thoughts: The card is about 9.25 inches long. The PCI-E connector projects out another 0.5 inches or so. It fits in an Antec Sonata III case, with the front fan installed, but it is tight. The PCI-E connector wires touch the fan casing. Without the front fan, it would fit easily.

Good value
Pros: Great performance, not overly large, good construction, excellent price.
Cons: Zalman fansink is noisier than I had expected and there's no fan speed control. (Have tried two freeware tools, neither of which worked for me.)
Other Thoughts: Will look for additional cooling solution with fan speed control.

Solid Performer
Pros: Excellent price/performance ratio. Small form factor for a HD3870 board. Comes with a Zalman VF700-CU already installed to cool the GPU. Works well with my Visiontek HD 3870 OC in Crossfire mode. Great overclocker.
Cons: No cooling for the graphics memory chips; have to order them separately. GDDR-3 memory limits bandwidth when used in a Crossfire config.
Other Thoughts: Asus P5Q-E, E6600 Core 2 Duo, 4 X 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2, Visiontek HD 3870 OC, Gigabyte HD 3870, X-FI Gamer, 2 X WD5000AKS Raid array, Antec Nine Hundred.

Had to Rma
Pros: It had great performance for the price, i was running aoc on high settings and getting an average of 55 to 60 fps which is pretty good for a $100.
Cons: It was making weird buzzing electrical noises, and the noises were not related to the fan in any way, it was definitely the car, i stuck an old card in the pci-e slot and there was no noise so it has to be the card, so i rma'd it, hopefully the next one doesn't make the same noise
Other Thoughts: Great performance for the price, there was just something wrong with my card

Most Excellent
Pros: Very fast card. Not the fastest but fast. Good features. The Catalyst software works great. I enjoyed the Overdrive part and was able to increase the operating speeds of my card (GPU 870mhz Memory Clock 1040 MHZ). The dual output is excellent. I have a Vizio 42" LCD with VGA and HDMI inputs among others. I hooked one video output of the card to the RGB in and another video output to an HDMI input. Then I used Catalyst to clone my desktop. Now I can use either VGA or HDMI with my card/monitor combination. With this card and HDMI my monitor/TV reports it is displaying 1080p resolution. My biggest game is Doom 3. With this card I've got great detail and smooth action. Under HDMI it has amazing detail. I got the card with the current $30 rebate making it an excellent deal.
Cons: No DVI-HDMI connector, which I did need. Just $15 at Walmart. The HDMI is so sharp that it doesn't work well for regular computer use as the text is not easy to read.
Other Thoughts: With this card I am able to use my computer for all my video...Computer/DVD/Netflix/PVR what ever I want to do. The card can do HDMI, DVI, VGA, Component, S Video and Composite making it a capable card for any large screen TV or projector. It can also display on a regular TV using S-Video or COmposite but my experience is the video quality with either of these (from any source) is not good enough to use the TV as a computer monitor.

Excellent Buy
Pros: It's the best one out there for the price, plus it's on sale! Everything during installation went smooth. I got a 5.9 in graphics on vista's performance scale. It seems to run very very cool, and I can't hear a thing. I went from just having the on board graphics to this and it is giving ten times better frame rates(literally). I've bought my motherboard and my graphics card from Gigabyte and I'm starting to love them. If you are going to buy a fast video card and don't care about benchmarking scores, this is the one.
Cons: Mine didn't come with a DVI-HDMI adapter. I'm not sure if it was supposed to. It's not really a con, I don't need one.
Other Thoughts: Haven't got around to playing the free game, but whether it's good or bad, it doesn't matter, it's free!

What I expected
Pros: A great card for the price. The Catalyst Control Center allows for auto overclocking to a good deal more than the specifications, all with just the factory heatsink. For WoW players, I play on absolute full graphics and it doesn't miss a beat, keeping the fps at 60 or above.
Cons: The reason why I only gave it a 4 star is that when I play anything other than WoW, the whole system freezes up within half an hour. WoW can go for several hours before crashing. The problem appears to be in the graphics, but I used the disk's drivers instead of the new ones from the website, so maybe thats the problem.
Other Thoughts: Don't let the four star rating scare you. If you want to build a gaming machine at a great price, buy this card.

Nice Card but No Netflix
Pros: Nice Card, Quiet and Fast!
Cons: Drivers crash occasionally in Vista x64 in games. Also found out HDCP is not supported with this card so I cannot view Netflix instant movies. Big disappointment!
Other Thoughts: Included software makes it very easy to overclock.

Price and Performance is GREAT
Pros: Price vs. Pergformance is SUPERB!!!!!!! can't believe how good this card is!!! I was not expecting that much of an increase in performance and quality took my rig from a vista score of 3.0 to 5.2... The free game was a nice little bonus too.
Cons: Too bad the memory size isn't 1 gb
Other Thoughts: Ordered Monday morning had it installed in the pc by Tuesday afternoon and didn't even pay for Rush shipping and that was even free too. Newegg Rocks!!!=)

Great Card
Pros: The value of this card is unbeatable. A top quality cooler included at value prices. I runs cool and its quiet. ATI drivers are top notch. Zero issues here...
Cons: None... You can get faster but for this price no way...
Other Thoughts: Neverwinter Nights 2 included for free. I've never been a fan of this type of rpg. Wow what a shock this game rocked.

Cool
Pros: Great card. Stays around 40c idle and 50c under load. Cooler is very quiet.
Cons: Replace my 2600XT using HDMI with this card. This card DOES NOT SUPPORT HDMI Audio. Video OK. This is a hardware problem, not software.
Other Thoughts: Nice card except no audio with HDMI.

Works well
Pros: Very easy installation. Worked perfect right away. Great price. Very quiet. Installing it fixed some glitches I was having with my NVIDIA card (AMD system).
Cons: I was using an NVIDIA GT8500OC card, and this one doesn't seem to be any faster. (Although I am not running any "challenging" games.) I run HALO, Warcraft III and Starcraft.
Other Thoughts: The card is very long. I had to re-arrange a number of power cables to make it fit in my case (Antec 900). Free copy of Neverwinter Nights 2 was a nice perk. I installed it and it runs great with the card.

Value couldn't be better and OC'd very well
Pros: Best bang for the buck, awesome graphics, awesome performance. OC'd GPU from stock 775 to 880 (max allowed with Catalyst driver) and Mem to 1050. No overheating problems whatsoever.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Video cards are being updated so often I can't see paying more than $250 for a card. I got this for 180 at that time and it was still a good deal. Now that it's down to 130, it's pretty much a steal.

Hopefully an Exception
Pros: Quiet, competitive price, good build quality. Due to the other customer success stories, and likelyness that my story is an unusual one, I am being kind on the egg rating.
Cons: The card I received suffers massive display quality issues. Operating at 1024x768 or lower, the image is perfect; anything higher, and blue pixels begin appearing in increasingly large amounts as they jump about the screen. Manipulating windows causes the screen to flicker black, or make the windows flip around.
Other Thoughts: Other problems that could cause this behavior: Underpowered PSU, incompatible driver version, overclocking, unorthodox BIOS settings, overheating, and physical defect of the card. I have eliminated these issues, and am now left to hope that the card is a fluke defective one, as I have no options but replacement.

Pros: I have two of these HD 3870's set-up in Crossfire with a mild OC coupled with an Assus Maximus Extreme Mobo. Initially there were random sprite glitches in World of Warcraft (serious over kill for WOW, but I like 1920 x 1200 everything maxed) however those have gone as of the most recent driver releases. The cards run cool even with some OC.
Cons: At times has issues Alt-Tabbing from a full screen game to another application, getting stuck in a screen switching loop for up to a minute or making the switch but being at a very low screen resolution. This seems to be a driver issue as it happens far less frequently with the latest drivers.
Other Thoughts: Over all the product is fast, affordable, and most importantly for me quite compared to some of the former vacuum cleaner loud cards (Sapphire 1950XT Pro)I've had in the past. Over all great performance, cool and quiet. Drivers can always use a bit more tweaking, but that seems t be a global issue with both ATi and Nvidia. Steady 60FPS with maxed settings in WOW even in Shattwrath and Ironforge.

Mean Overclocker
Pros: Decent cooler, see cons/other thoughts I got this card up to 945mhz on 1.327v running 945/1044 flawlessly ( i actually have a good bin )
Cons: had to RMA twice, first card made a lot of buzzing noise, and then died. second card seemed to be okay for a day, then started buzzing and died. third card had a bad heatsink ( uneven fins squished together at the base )
Other Thoughts: I replaced the gou heatsink with Tt Volcano 10+ and vmodded for 1.41v to acheive 975mhz, but the pencil mod started to wear off. i am now planning on a 1.55v mod with a potentiometer to try for 1ghz+ do wish i baught a GDDR4 model, but for this price this is a darn good card.

Good Card at a Good Price
Pros: Performs well, mild OC at 800/1000 with CCC - no problem. Idles at 40C, maxed at 66C after hours of testing with various 3d apps. Fan is nearly silent but very efficient. Catalyst 8.4 drivers from AMD/ATIs site (didn't even bother using the disk). Runs very well with CoD4, GoW, Crysis, BF2/2142, HL2, FEAR, GRAW - ALL with HIGH settings, no AA, at a 1680x1050 res - beautiful image quality and playable frames (yes, even Crysis except used a 1440x900 res). Will buy another for CF.
Cons: Game that came with it = caca. But look at what I play :P
Other Thoughts: E4500 OC'ed to 3GHz, 2 Gig Corsair XMS DDR2 800, 500Watt Thermaltake PurePower, Gigabyte Radeon 3870, MSI Neo, 250 Gig WD HDD / 80 Gig WD HDD, DVD, CD/RW, SB Audigy, WinXp Pro 32bit, all in a no frills standard mid tower.

manic monday...
Pros: Just stopped back to say that I used ati's latest driver, and used catalyst control center to auto overclock gpu and memory. I'm proud to say that this baby is sitting on an 870 core and a whopping 1040 on the memory... I heard some say the 3870's wern't good ocing cards. But couple this with a decent cpu and some ddr2 800 and you'll hit 10k in 3dmark06 pretty easy.
Cons: no memory heatsink...
Other Thoughts: i love this card, right price, great performance, Ultra durable 2 design... awesome. Plays every game it touches with ease

Great upgrade and excellent cooling
Pros: I skip every other generation so I upgraded from an X1950xt Sapphire which would hit 89c, and sound like a dirt devil trying to cool itself off. This thing hits 50-60c max, and does not make a sound! I love how they have improved performance, and fixed the heat generation issues that some previous Radeon's had in my opinion.
Cons: GDDR3 instead of GDDR4.. But the 8800's still use GDDR3 so I'm not sure if it's that big of a deal..
Other Thoughts: Keep AMD alive! :)

Great card
Pros: Better than my XFX 8500GT. Plays anything i have on the highest settings (except Crysis). I get a very pleasant average of about 27fps on Crysis with everything on high and the AA at 2x. this card runs quite cool for me (at idle usually around 30 C but it has gotten as low as 25 C.
Cons: not exactly silent(but not exactly loud either). I would feel more comfortable if the RAM had heatsinks.
Other Thoughts: GDDR4 has little performance boost compaired to GDDR3. I had to hook up another 400-watt PSU to power this card, but that is to be expected with a 3870. Gigabyte recommends a PSU that is at least 550-watts to power this card. I havent really tried the overclocking yet, but im sure i could.
AMD Athlon X2 6400+, 2GB Corsair 800MHz RAM, 80GB SATA WD Caviar, 2x400-watt PSUs, this card, and 2 120mm fans

Pros: Absolutely great! I am a programmer and gamer so i test my graphics daily. I run WoW on high graphics and with over 100 addons with around 50 of them enhancing the UI and i average around 120-150 FPS. I hit peaks of around 220 and lows around 75. Perfect for gaming!
Cons: None

Driver issues
Pros: Good card, able to play Bioshock on high.
Cons: When the computer goes to sleep and I resume, the driver quits, can't figure out why. I set the power setting to perforance where the computer never sleeps and it has been fine since.
Other Thoughts: Going to upgrade to X2 instead.

Silence
Pros: HD, dual video display capabilities, virtually noiseless, works flawlessly. downloaded latest drivers. Works well with XP and vista... yes I tried it in both OS.
Cons: Price. But you get what you pay for.
Other Thoughts: Bought it to replace an 256MB Saphire very noisy card... will buy another one soon!!

it's not 3870, why misleading?
Pros: It's Gigabyt .. always my favorite brand in most cases over the past 7 years and they have never let me down. As for performance, save my time and go check tomsharware's VGA chart.
Cons: This card according to the specifications set by AMD is supposed to be 3850(RV670+GDDR3) not 3870(RV670+GDDR4). It's a 3850 overclocked to the core frequency of 3870. 4 stars this time because I don't like the way you do busniess here Mss.Gigabyte!
Other Thoughts: If I had to buy another 3850 or 3870, this card would be my first choice.

good drive for the money at the time of purchase. INCLUDES 6-PIN CONVERTER TO MOLEX
Pros: Excellent performance for price. no complaints about drivers or Vista support. Easy install to mobo. Includes power converter to a 4-pin Molex, so don't worry too much about your PSU fitting it.
Cons: Really tall, it's pushing up against my Raidmax Smilodon case fan (whose fault is that? Gigabyte or raidmax?)
It's going to need to be replaced like every other graphics card in about 3 years.
Other Thoughts: GO TO TOMSHARDWARE.COM and compare the graphics cards in his charts (halfway down on the right). Be aware that the $400 dollar cards are only a 25% increase in performance for a 100% increase in price.

a great card
Pros: Great card for the price. Neverwinter Nights is a nice bonus, enjoying the game so far. Super quite and a decent upgrade from an x1900xtx
Cons: No cooling on RAM chip which at stock speed is ok but I'm having some problem with OCing. Will slap some ram cooling on it later and try to OC it further
Other Thoughts: DDR4 had little advangetage over DDR4 if at all. Get this version instead of the DDR4 unless the price for the 2 version is equal

Quality card; Quiet, powerful, very nice!
Pros: A lot to like about this card: - Powerful card: run BioShock with all the graphics on high at 12 x 10, beautiful! - Quiet: My computer is not far from my bedroom so quiet was critical and this card is very quiet. Just what I was looking for. - Cool: I'm not an overclocker, but at the standard settings this card runs very cool, very nice. - Build Quality: Very impressed with the quality of parts used; seems to be built very, very well. - Power: No power problems with a 450 watt power supply, very happy (I also run and X-Fi sound card, two hard drives, DVD drive, and a few external USB devices, so I don't tax it too much, but runs great! - Power Management: Works great with Vista Power Management - ATI Drivers: Running v8.3 of drivers and it's been great. - Great price!
Cons: Can't think of any cons, the card typical size for this type of video card, but might be too big for some smaller PC cases.
Other Thoughts: It's been a long time since I bought a new video card (Geforce 32MB was last card) and I've never bought an ATI card. I'm very impressed.

Pros: Fits in my Ultra Micro Fly micro-ATX case, runs recent games nicely, newest drivers work fine on my 64-bit linux, I've wanted to try NWN2 someday.
Cons: The fan sticks up enough that I had to be "creative" to fit it in my case; the motherboard tray slides in+out the back, but not with that fan, so I had to bend (only slightly, and I bent it back!) an internal support in the case to allow me to plug it in.

Fast and Quiet
Pros: This is an unbelievably quiet, yet very powerful video card. For me, it was a near perfect balance between price and performance. Although it’s a PCIe 2.0 card, it still works great with my aging DFI Lanparty UT Ultra, AMD 939 motherboard, AND it still managed 10000 in 3Dmark06 in spite of it. The Zalman heatsink made overclocking the GPU a breeze, and its less-power-hungry design allowed it to work fine with my existing 420w PSU (single 30A 12v rail.) It came bundled with a copy of Neverwinter Nights 2, but I still ended up pulling Oblivion back out so I could enjoy 65-75 FPS outdoors; ultra high settings – Sweet!
Cons: I missed out on the free AMD T-shirt! --- And as some have noted , it just seems odd that it didn’t come equipped with some ramsinks. But given that its “slower” GDDR3 RAM didn’t seem to impact its performance negitively, I somewhat doubt a huge overclock would have enhanced its performance much either.
Other Thoughts: My goal was to find a reasonably priced, fast, power-efficient, and above all - QUIET card. Initially I was scared away from this model by the GDDR3 RAM and a single bad review which indicated that this card was extremely loud. That review turned out to be dead wrong. As many here have already observed: this card is NEARLY SILENT. It’s got the solid look and feel of a Gigabyte product, and from what I can tell, the GDDR3 didn’t detract from this card’s performance much -if at all. -- P.S. INSTALLATION TIP: Be sure to install the HD Audio Driver from the CD FIRST, THEN download and install the latest Catalyst drivers from ATI's website.

inexpensive, good, top choice.
Pros: So far it's all good notes. To start the card looks GREAT! matches the gigabyte mobo's. better than in the pics. I got quake 4, installed on xp x64 pro corporate no problem, ran it, maxed out all the settings, currently at 1024x768 with 8x AA. smooth as butter... could up it to 16x, but it honestly looks fine now... will post other game settings later... it also seems to be VERY QUIET. I really don't notice the sound at all... it's about as quiet as a low noise 120mm fan by my best guess.
Cons: none so far really, but the heat sink/fan combo sticks a little outside the edge of the card. *which you can kinda see in the pics* making me remove the "dirktooth" from my raidmax smilodon case (no big deal at all) honestly the card holds in place just fine without it. and the whole case is cool enough... it's not really a con.... but a REAL con is the fact that there's no memory heatsinks... that's the ONLY thing i don't like about this card vs. the reference cards. and i REALLY wouldn't mind the lack of heatsinks if you could find them... EVERYONE reputable is always out of stock... newegg has them in the most often, but they're gone within 24 hours... newegg also has the best price on them. but oh well, the memory on this card seems to be cool enough... I just want it to last a long time, even though I won't keep it long enough for them to die... i'll sell it.. but i want it to last for the customer. heh. oh and the obligatory "it doesn't wipe my 'but'" statement that's popular
Other Thoughts: comes with nwn2, all the connectors, every connector is covered in rubber cept the main one, the anti-static bag is nice and thick, well packaged with plenty of soft foam to absorb impacts (shipping), hmm... hasn't checked temps yet, i'll prolly post some temps when i get everything fine tuned and get crysis to put a full load on the card. It has the "ultra durable 2" ckrap... we'll see how it holds up... but all this is running on a 22amp 12v rail.... amd 5000+ black currently stock, 2x 1 gig g-skill memory, gigabyte with nvidia 570 chipset, 1x dvdrw, 1x samsung spinpoint 320 gig, case lights, a few fans, etc etc, and no problems so far...

Awesome Graphics Boars
Pros: Nice Fan that works well and is quiet ( a big plus) Of course ATI 3870 Stays cool even under load (22 deg No Load, 31 deg Gaming Load) Much lower power requirements than the competitor
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I previoulsy owened a X1950Pro, which i was happy with, but this thing screams. Screen 1920 a 1200, Most games maxed, although i do not always max anti-alias because not the need with large resolution screen. Fast frame rates (no studder - smooth). Call of Duty 4, GTR2, Oblivian,... Windows Vista Index 5.9 Running with Catalyst 8.3 on Vista 32 with Gigabyte EX38 DS4 MB

Cons: not any I could find yet.

Best Bang For Buck
Pros: 32fps in Crysis on high 1280x1024. 13K 3Dmark06. Slaughters my 256mb 8800GT in everything. Gears Of War on highest settings (DX9), never goes under 55fps(capped at 62). Is very quiet, cant hear it at all and fan is at 100%. Can be used in crossfire with the 3870X2, which is best for people with two PCIe slots since there is very little gain from 3-4gpus. Comes with a free game, and is the cheapest 3870 you can get. OCed 100mhz on the core and memory without a hitch.
Cons: Stays pretty warm, even with the cooler on there. My XFX 8800GT never went over 52C, this loads at 70C. ATI 8.3 drivers are stop working randomly when at desktop and cause BSOD.
Other Thoughts: Do not worry about the GDDR3 memory on this card. The reason Nvidia skipped GDDR4 is because there is no gain from it because of the very high latencies. There is no performance difference at all between this card and other GDDR4 ones. I have this OCed to 880/1050 with a E8400 at 4Ghz, 4gb Crucial Ballistix, Gigabyte EX38-DS4, Corsair 550vx PSU.

Pros: 10 dollars cheaper then the other 3870s with a free game. currently running it at 850 core 1000 ram.
Cons: DDR 3 ram not as fast as the DDR 4 on reference board... but I dont notice a difference.
Other Thoughts: Runs really cool in antec 900 case.

Graphic Glitches
Pros: Super fast, Nice fan. Mid price range. Nice picture quality. Chugs out frame rates like a champ. Run two instances of world of warcraft at max settings at max frame rate without a hiccup. (I prefer AAx2 tho)
Cons: I get graphic glitches (sprites?) every now and then playing world of warcraft. Never got them on my old comp, tried a friends card in my comp and I don't get them:( Card has completely hung up and forced me to reboot several times. Only happens around certain parts of the game. Been playing for over two years and never seen these problems before on any other computer.
Other Thoughts: I'm not a video card expert, mabey they can fix this with a new driver? I installed the driver directly from ati's website, so I have the latest one. The glitches are rare and arn't that big of a deal, but for a brand new card, I expect it to work flawlessly.

Pros: Bought two of these, and so far they run great. Installation was easy with no problems at all. Price. Much better in-game graphics. Upgraded from a 1950Pro 512 and games are a whole new experiance. Also can run these on a 550 watt power supply.
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: AMD X2 6400+ Black Box. 2 HD 3870 vid cards. ECS KA3 MVP Motherboard. Mushkin 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800. Antec NeoPower 650 watt power supply. SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty sound card. CMStacker 830 Case.

Pros: It's a 3870 with a Zalman Fan
Cons: I have not been able to get this to work properly with my Asus M3A mainboard at all. The ATI event log is full of errors.. the ATI Catalyst crashes all the time. I have reinstalled windows, reinstalled .net framework, new monitor, and rma'd video card all with the same results.
Other Thoughts: I think I will have to rma this card too and get a different brand probably sapphire and try my luck with it.

Sacred Arts
Pros: I went with ATI instead of nVidia due to the lower power consumption and better price/performance ratio. I wanted a high powered gaming system for under $1000, and this video card was perfect for my needs. Currently running on a 550W power supply with no problems.
Cons: If you want absolute performance at any cost, this isn't where you should be looking.
Other Thoughts: Zalman cooler was included as a stock fan! Made overclocking stupid simple -- I overclocked to the max with no fuss. FANTASTIC!

Nice card
Pros: At first I believed this card suffered from the messed up fan speed bios, and I was worried about it running hot. But after a lot of testing with crysis and other tools. This card is really quiet and the very max I have seen was 70c after hours of Crysis gaming, mind you this is with a 860 core and 1000 mem overclock. Crysis All High 1280x1024 Timedemo results on a x2 3800 2.6ghz cpu/2gb ddr500 ram got me 34 overall avg fps
Cons: The price drop right after I bought it. It was cheap to begin with before the price drop, So it wasn't much of an issue. I just wish I would have known. No ram heatsinks can be an issue for some as well, but for me I jerry rigged my stock cpu heatsink fan to blow directly onto the ram chips.
Other Thoughts: the competition came out with their new card and not much benchmarks are out yet. I would wait and see how they compete with each other before pulling the trigger.

Pros: Price is great for the amount of performance you get. Very fast! Haven't tried Crysis or other really new titles, but the bundled game (NWN2) runs great with all high settings.
Cons: None really...
Other Thoughts: Good job Newegg, AMD (6400+ CPU and great video card, and Gigabyte (video card & Motherboard).

Gigabyte GDDR3 HD3870
Pros: Very quiet and very cool running card. The hottest I've gotten it to is 62C. That was while running Crysis on High settings with 2XAA. I was able to overclock the GPU to 855Mhz and the memory to 1040Mhz and run Crysis on the previous mentioned specs and get an average of about 20FPS, dipping down to 14FPS at times. I'd say for the price of this card it's worth it. I also read a review on this card with the GDDR3 RAM and it performed the same as the GDDR4 3870's. The review also showed that this card ran about 20C cooler than everything else.
Cons: I'm a little worried that there is no heat sinks on the RAM. I'm gonna probably try and buy some after market sinks. I'm mad that AMD announced a price drop for all 3870's this week. Right after I buy this!
Other Thoughts: I've read that two 3870's crossfired perform just as good as the new 3870X2's. Which would make since, the 3870X2's are almost the same thing as 2 3870's crossfired. But with the price drop of the 3870's it's looking pretty tempting to buy another one. My rig has an AMD Phenom 9600, 4 gigs of OCZ Gold PC6400, and 74GB WD 10K HD.

Good performance , unflexible resolution.
Pros: Performance is excellent.
Cons: 1440x900 resolution has a max refresh rate of 60hz , this cannot be forced nor changed with any refresh locking utility. I've concluded the card/driver does not support it . If you're uneasy about screen tearing i'd look at other options.

Size is no problem!
Pros: Nice high-end card... lots of RAM... a very nice HSF... and quiet operation (nearly silent). I was worried about the card fitting into my case (Antec Nine-hundred) based on some of the reviews, but the car dis only about 3 inches longer than my 7600GT and easily fits into the case (I do not have the extra fan on the inside of the case.. the wind tunnel thing).
Cons: If you are looking to overclock the card, as some have pointed out, the lack of heatsinks on the RAM MAY be a problem... for a non-overclocker (like me) nothing wrong with this card.

One Bothering Thing
Pros: Nice card, good specs.
Cons: The one thing that bothers me is the fact that Gigabyte does not put the little Heatsinks on the Memory. Normally when you purchase a Zalman Cooler like the one on this card it comes with the heatsinks to attach to the memory, this card doesn't have them. Believe the memory would run hot if overclocking.
Other Thoughts: X

Beast
Pros: Fast, aftermarket heatsink, free game
Cons: memory doesn't overclock very high
Other Thoughts: Reference clocks for this card are 780/950. Scores 10k on my s939 opteron system (165 @ 2.8) in 3dmark06. Don't be turned away by the fact this card has ddr3, if you look at the 3870x2 cards they only use ddr3. Doesn't seem to like to go much past 1100 on mem, although I need some more time to mess with it. Heatsink is nice. Card's a bit long, though. not TOO long.

Very Good HD3870
Pros: Good value. Cheaper than 8800 GT. Equal in performance to other HD3870's. Catalyst software was great.
Cons: Not superior to 8800 GT. HDMI driver overwrites High Definition onboard drivers.
Other Thoughts: Rig = E2200 @ 2.475GHz, 945GC uATX mobo, 2 GB Adata DDR2-5400 @ 524 MHz, Corsair VX450 PSU, WD 160 GB HDD.
GV-RX387512H @ 780/950(Default): 3DMark06 9004 = SM2.0 3903 + SM3.0 4430 + CPU 2037
GV-RX387512H @ 860/1050(Max Overclock): 3DMark06 9297 = SM2.0 4031 + SM3.0 4680 + CPU 2034
3DMark06 was used at all default settings and resolution.

Anyone been able to take advantage of the fan?
Pros: Excellent price, but...
Cons: I saw a pretty mediocre review of this product on a professional review site--at reference clock speed. Yet with its Zalman fan, it holds such promise. Anyone been able to take advantage of the fan?
Other Thoughts: ...because I am considering buying one.

Excellent Card, don't let GDDR3 stop you.
Pros: Xlt Image quality in 2D & 3D. Fast GPU. OC w ATiTool to 865/1150 with no issues or artifacts but pulled back to 850/1100 to ensure no probs in fast action gaming. Card was slightly tight fit, but did fit. I like that it is Ultra Durable with excellent and very quiet Zalman fan cooling solution.
Cons: Not GDDR4?, True it is GDDR3, but don't let that stop you from buying this card. I get scores and frame rates that are same as GDDR4 counterparts. 8800gt cards all use GDDR3 w. no adverse affects on games. GDDR4 is not truly needed for games at this point, though it would be a nice to have. The graphics core clocks/256 bit+ are far more important. This is a great card.
Other Thoughts: Experienced black screen betw Win splash and Welcom screen at first. Found that this is common for 3000 series using DVI. Found 3 step fix. 1st, Ensure all previous vid drivers are 100% removed. Step 2 - ATI 8.1 Catalyst or newer installed. Finally, Go to Control Panel, select Admin Tools, click on Services, find Ati Hotkey Poller, once there, change Startup type to Manual. Click OK. That fixed it for me, now card works better than any card I have ever owned.

I would not trade this for a 8800gt at all.
Pros: best image quality ever, nvidia has nothing on ati's IQ.Colors very rich.
Cons: Doesnt perform well in crysis on all high but who cares crysis sucks.thats why ea only sold less that 200,000 copies.why sell a game that only less than 10 percent of the computers in the world can play...
Other Thoughts: I love this card.idles at 35c.This is real video card, not a gaming toy like nvidia's card.

Gigabyte all the way
Pros: Very affordable versus Nvidia. Has technology for the future (PCI-E 2.0, DX10.1, etc). Comes with a good free game. Runs great on Windows Vista, and works perfectly with Catalyst 8.1. The fan is very quiet! Gigabyte quality.
Cons: Doesn't have all the performance of the 8800GT. Didn't come with a HDMI adapter.
Other Thoughts: GDDR4 is a marketing ploy. Look at the benchmarks, no real difference. This is also true with PCI-E 2.0. I bought this card to hold me over until 45nm becomes the standard.

good, but needs mem cooling
Pros: Overall I would say that this is a pretty good card with good gpu cooling. It's also at a pretty good price considering there are hd 3850's being sold for the same price.
Cons: The gddr3 isn't a bonus, but it doesn't really take much away from the performance of the card (about 100-200 points in 3dmark06 SM2 and SM3 tests). The only real problem is the lack of memory cooling which will limit any overclocking attempts.
Other Thoughts: This card seems to be pretty much the same as a standard hd 3870, and a small overclock of about 30mhz on the core will give almost the same, if not a slightly higher, score on 3dmark06 SM2 and SM3 tests.

Finally!
Pros: Finally a Performance Card not aimed at people with stupid-big monitors and an insatiable love for AA.
Cons: my G33M-S2 has no x-fire support :[
Other Thoughts: Q6600 @ 3708, G.skill 800@824 2.1v 3-3-3-4, Coolermaster 541, Zalman CNPS 9500A.
i am a 1024x768 gamer ( 120 hz refresh ) and this card pumps out beautiful imagery with everyting jacked up on well... everything.

As advertised.
Pros: It is an RV670 core running at ~775MHz, ergo it is one of the 3870 cores. What most people don't know is that a core that runs at 668 (the 3850s) is a lower quality core that couldn't stably run at 775, thus why the cards are practically the same. It comes with DDR3 that can easily be OC'd to 1000MHz if you have proper cooling--might need some RAM sinks on this to get there.
Cons: Has lower memory speeds, but on an ATI card, you're not liable to notice a difference anyway, as they have a low number of ROPs and the RAM speed only tends to matter if you run high levels of AA or AF, which go through the ROPs... and we're now going in circles.
Other Thoughts: Great card for the price, doubly so when you consider that it comes with a $30 Zalman fan already attached. I haven't bothered testing yet, but I'm almost positive that, with a slight voltage increase, this card could do 850 core and keep a load temp of under 70. I doubt it will remain stable if you try pushing to 900, but it could likely handle it temperature-wise.

after playing crysis
Pros: get around 30 fps max at 128x960 all high settings
Cons: at the settings listed above the game still runs too slow, fights are like 15-20 fps which is unplayable.crysis is unplayable on all high with this card period. amd x2 6000+ 4 gis dd2 800 ram 320 gig hard drive and this card.
Other Thoughts: I didnt buy this card just for crysis,i bought it for several other games and blue-ray.

Its not a 3870
Pros: It does have a nice OC for a 3850
Cons: Its NOT a 3870
Other Thoughts: AMD/ATI set up its numbering as such: 3850 is an ATI R670 with GDDR3 in either 256MB OR 512MB configurations The 3870 is an ATI R670 with a higher clock speed GDDR4 in either a 256MB OR 512MB Configuration. Either way Gigabyte is misrepresenting thier product For more information visit the AMD/ATI website or just google it

after 2 hours...
Pros: IQ better than nvidias 8800's,although not as fast.I would gladly trade some fps for IQ any day.zalman works fantastic 50c under load. The card is really not as big as I thought.well worth 230 easily.
Cons: none at all.
Other Thoughts: 780 gpu 950 memory stock clocks according to ccc.havent tried crysis yet but soon will when I have the time and I will post again after that.

I bought one
Pros: i bought one it will be here wed
Cons: none, dont say a card is no good just because it doesnt have gddr4,
Other Thoughts: If you read the reviews on newegg the o/c 3850's with gddr3 are just as fast as the 3870's with gddr4. So this card would be the same as a 3870 perfomance wise.

not a problem
Pros: alright, for one it only takes up 1 slot, its still a 3870 gpu, and ddr 3 is what all nivida cards are currently running on. my point is, if your going to run a quad crossfire setup this will blow away any 8800 dual setup
Cons: none whatsoever

GDDR3? Is that a typo?
Pros: Inexpensive.
Cons: Does it really come with GDDR3 and not GDDR4 - and, if so, why is it called 3870 then? 3870 uses GDDR4.
Other Thoughts: Some people might not notice that the RAM on this is not as fast as it's supposed to be on a real 3870.

not GDDR4
Pros: It's a 3870
Cons: no memory cooling and not gddr4 like the others
Other Thoughts: I don't own this card but ive been looking for a 3870. I almost bought this before seeing it was gddr3 not 4.
