Rating + 4 Great card, rebate rejected

Pros: Bought this as part of my new from-parts Christmas rig. Great card for the money. Runs everything but the most demanding games (e.g. Crysis) on highest settings with barely a stutter.

Sure, it's not the current ~$400 sweetheart of the month but it's cheap and runs great.

Cons: $30 rebate was rejected. "Invalid Purchase Date." I call B.S. since the rebate was advertised at the time of purchase; if the invoice was going to disqualify me from getting the rebate, don't advertise it in the first place. Shame on you, EVGA.

Other Thoughts: I'll know better next time. Don't mess with rebates, the sticker price is what you'll pay. If the company can find any possible way to deny the rebate uncontested, they will.

Otherwise a solid product, working fine.

Pros: fantastic card, played well on my old rig real nice but really unlocked its potential when I upgraded to a Intel Core2 Q9300 with 1333 FSB. Haven't tried it on other games yet but it now almost maxes out UT3 and I can't believe how much detail that I was missing. WOW! Be sure to download EVGA's precision program so you can max out fan speed and keep the chip nice and chilly during intense gameplay.

Cons: none, its the best 8600 on the market

Other Thoughts: intel DP45SG MB, 4Gb gskilz, vista ultimate 32bit, 8600gts, Q9300

Rating + 4 Good card(s)

Pros: Just put one of these cards in a new build. It does very well handling Source engine games on maxed out settings.

Cons: I have a fairly lower res monitor at 1024x768, so running games at high spec may not be incredibly taxing. Even still, it runs pretty warm

Other Thoughts: ... If I was to get a higher res monitor, I may consider putting a second one of these cards in. That would probably run fantastically and be relatively cost effective.

Rating + 5 Great Card

Pros: Pretty cheap, can play Bioshock and Dead Space maxed out at 1440x900.

Cons: Can get hot if the airflow in your case isn't very good.

For $20 more you could buy a 9600GT.

Other Thoughts: I bought mine somewhere else and for the same price it has 512Mb of memory...and looks exactly the same.

Much better than the 8400GS I had before it.

Rating + 5 Solid

Pros: I bought this card because newegg had it with a combo and rebate deal. I needed a PCI Express card when building my new computer and this so happened to be on sale at the right place/time.

I'm not a gamer but having 2 DVI ports is always a plus for future improvements. Displays the max resolution of my monitor with ease.

Cons: I'm not a gamer so I can't talk about game performance. For my everyday tasks the highest the temperature got was 59 C. This may prove a problem for anyone looking for a serious card.

Definitely going to pick myself up one but the eVGA 8600 GTS Superclocked one on Newegg when I begin my build soon.

Pros: Very very good video card. Definitely worth the money. Great card to have if you don't have that much money and want to get the most for your card. Haven' t had any problem with the card as of yet.

Cons: None. Excellent card.

Other Thoughts: If you're thinking about getting this card, consider the 8800 first. If you don't have enough money, then get this one instead. You won't regret it, and the mail in rebate is great.

Rating + 3 NVIDIA screwing up

Pros: It has good performance to price ratio. With $40 rebate, it is indeed cheap.

Cons: Runs hot but NVIDIA has problems with their chips. Something to do with chips thermal properties. Apparently all chips are bad but if they are setup to run at certain temperatures, they last longer.

Other Thoughts: Time to switch to ATI and buy motherboards with crossfire

Rating + 5 Good reliable card

Pros: Works great in Vista.

Cons: A bit overpriced I think.

Other Thoughts: After shopping on Newegg for GPUs for other PCs, I've found that there are comparable cards that are less expensive. Look for good rebates, free shipping, and, if you are a risk-taker, try the "open box" cards.

Pros: -Gets a 5.5 on Vista's Experience index under gaming graphics
-Doesn't need external power
-Works great as a mid range gaming card, capable of playing modern games but not breaking your entire bank account.

Cons: -Not a 280, but didn't expect that so its not a con

Other Thoughts: EVGA always has amazing products and this is no exception.

Pros: Easy to install, cant even hear the card, runs games perfectly.

Cons: Why is this category even here.

Other Thoughts: The card is great, and cheap. Runs Left 4 Dead on high with 50-60 FPS, and TF2 on Very High with about 180 FPS in a custom map that was closed off (was also able to crank up anti aliasing to x16Q for a few minutes before I turned it off, still getting 200 FPS, but don't try this I was basically in a box at the time.), but in normal maps I still get about 70. Also runs Halo 2 well. If you need a good card you should get this card.

Rating + 5 EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600 GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16

Pros: Excellent card for the price and technology! I bought this card to replace my old Chaintech 6600GT that I had for a few years. EGVA makes awesome cards! I'm using a Dell Dimension 8400 with XP and was concerned about the power supply not being able to support the new EVGA GeForce 8600 GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 card, but it works great!!! Installation was easy and fast. Totally awesome in 1280 by 1024 with COD 4, TF2, CS Source, Half Life 2, Company of Heroes!! I can't wait to try this out on COD 5 (World at War). It's a night and day difference from my old 6600GT. Shipping was fast and took only 1 day even to get it using the free 3 day shipping (They shipped it from Tenn and I live in Ala.) Newegg rocks!!!

Cons: No cons except that the installation disk is not really needed. In fact, If you use the disk it may overwrite your existing Nvidia drivers with old drivers. I tried the installation disk and it over wrote some what newer Nvidia drivers I had when i was using the old 6600GT. I had a blue screen when i started back up. I had to reboot in safe mode and restore the system to an earlier point. After the restore I just went to the driver update tab in the Nvidia properties and updated the drivers from there. Don't use the disk! Also, I went out and downloaded Riva Tuner version 2.21 to tweak the card since the EVGA disk did not have any software to control and monitor the card. I'm not sure why they don't support that? Riva Tuner works great without problems! The EVGA installation disk works great if you want to use it to put your drinks on it :) Makes a great coaster!

Other Thoughts: Using Dell Dimension 8400
P4 Pentium CPU 3.20 GHz
1.00 GB of RAM
Windows XP, Service Pack 2
LG LCD
EVGA 8600 GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16

My Riva Tuner settings (tweaks) are:
Fan 60%
Core clock at 650 Mhz
Shader clock at 1400 Mhz
Memory clock at 850 Mhz
and really awesome performance. The DDR3 memory really does a great job! The ambient temperature is ~50 degrees C.

Rating + 5 Best Bang for the Buck!

Pros: I had an ailing 939 Motherboard, AMD 2x, ATI Radio 9800 AGP. I swapped out the board for a cheap PCI-e board and dropped in this board ($70 upgrade all-in-all) and my computer flies now. Handles all the games I couldn't play before. Highly recommended for the mid-level gammer!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: New egg rocks. $40 for this card is a dang steal.

Rating + 5 Good casual gamer card

Pros: DX 10

does a great job if your not looking for a very expensive card that can run some of the relatively new games out at a reduced res. and if it gets real busy expect some lag. overclocked it does ok but but the stock cooler only handles so much.

Cons: non for the price and card you get.

iv recently moved on to a new 8800gts 512 with the newer smaller chip. runs better than the two 8600gts i had in SLI. by a lot. both were running at x16 not the x8 x8 split. i figured the 8600 would do me fine but i figured id pass on what iv learned.

Other Thoughts: if your looking for something to blow a game out the water ... go 8800 or similar.

Rating + 2 22 amp ATX required

Pros: Arrived well packaged with a good set of leads and two HDMI/VGA converters.

Cons: Requires a 22 amp ATX supply from the motherboard through the PCI Express socket.
The ASUS P5Q PRO motherboard that I have did not supply the required power.
Returned the Video board (RMA) for a 9600GT and this works without fault.

Other Thoughts: Compatibility needs to be checked carefully.... it was not clear that the power rating was likely to be an isse. EVGA were not aware of the issue either.

Pros: I'M SURE THIS CARD WORKS GREAT WITH ANY OTHER MOBO. JUST NOT WITH ASUS

Cons: DO NOT BUY THIS CARD IF YOU PLAN ON USING A ASUS P5Q BOARD. IT ISN'T COMPATABLE. I FOUND THAT OUT THE HARD WAY. STUCK WITH A USELESS NON-REFUNDABLE CARD. DON'T BE SUCKERED IN BY THE REBATE.

Pros: Great speeds on this card. Able to run graphics intensive applications very well even the newest games at reasonable FPS. Great for anyone looking for a solid entry level DX10 card. Temps are easy to maintain.

Cons: I was hoping someone had accidentally dropped a Ben Franklin in the box during production...No such luck.

Other Thoughts: With the rebate I got, this card pays for itself!

Rating + 5 Good card no problem in a year

Pros: I don't have an awesome power supply, mine is a sparkle 400w, and the gpu's temp is around 40° on the desktop and around 45° ingame, I don't understand how you can get 70° with that card if you a somewhat decent PSU. Most games are fluid, I was able to play oblivion, far cry 2, fallout 3 with decent graphics.

Cons: I paid mine a year ago 50$ more, but if I were you I would get a better card, It's not a bad card, but you can get a 9800GT for not too much at the moment ( with the rebates, free shipping, etc. ), not really good if you plan on playing upcomming games.

Other Thoughts: If you don't play games, or you want to play older ones, it's a great card.

Pros: Quiet fan gets the job done, performance as advertised, great $ w/ rebate. Good accessories supplied: with component video out and S-VHS out, dual DVI with VGA converters.

Rating + 5 Gr8 card after a year

Pros: Bought this a year ago and still runs like a charm. Can play most of the older games but less newer games. But it handle for instance COD4, HL2, CS:S, Fallout 3. Vista Experience increased 5.9 for graphics, 5.5 for gaming.

Cons: My card idles at around 55C and plays games at load of over 70C. So it runs hot on the stock cooler. If you have this card, you can download the EVGA Precision Tool that allows you to keep the fan at 100% and should cool it a couple of degrees.

Other Thoughts: My system: Intel C2D E4300 at 1.8GHZ, 2G RAM, EVGA 8600GT, Vista Home Premium SP1, 17 in. CRT Monitor

Rating + 5 Very pleased.

Pros: Bought this card primarily to play wow. Arrived quickly as is typical with NewEgg purchases. Easy to install. The graphical improvements were dramatic! I don't have my settings maxed yet (waiting on a cooling unit), I have been running everything at about medium. I am pulling 20 fps in denser areas(high pop cities), and everywhere else it hovers around 50-60 fps. I am sure my processor and RAM are limiting me as well. Picture quality is absolutely beautiful. The difference, right from the outset (opening movie), is like night and day. A solid card for it's price.

Cons: My comp couldn't read the install disk. Not a big deal as I prefer to dl drivers from the manufacturers website. Runs a little hot. Just bought an PCI exhaust fan (around 7 bucks) to remedy this.

Other Thoughts: Loving it.

Pros: This card I bought to put in my second computer to use instead of the onboard video, and it works beautifully! While not a gaming powerhouse, it still runs games with great quality and makes the power hungry games playable (ie not like a slide show)! 5 eggs for this card, for Newegg, and for EVGA, I've never bought a bad card from them.

Cons: None really, it runs a little warm so make sure your case is well ventilated.

Rating + 5 i LOVE this card! Second purchase!

Pros: I absolutely love this card! It plays everything i throw at it! I got another one for my brother's computer cuz he just got int playing Warhammer. He says he's playing with everything cranked up on high and he's getting 60fps. I love this card! Having 2 in my comp, i'm running SLI and it's absolutely amazing. With the help of riva tuner, i have overclocked all 3 of the cards we own from the core clock: 540 to 635, and the memory clock: 1400 to 1670. all 3 card running at only 60% fan speed (again tunable with riva tuner) and it's still very silent! Much more silent then my CPU fan. Oh and i'm running AMD x2 4200+ and he's running an Intel dual-core 2.0ghz.

Cons: Absolutely none! Of course out of the box it's perfect, but since I've been overclocking to find the "sweet spot" where it's stable and optimized, it's crashed lots of times. But again, this is during overclocking. Straight out of the box, the card is amazing! Now i'm thinking of getting one for my sister's computer!

Other Thoughts: Don't let the 256mb fool you, the 8600GT is capable of carrying out any task whether it be gaming, editing video and pictures, or just surfing the net. You won't be disappointed with this card. Just make sure to get the updated drivers from EVGA. Oh btw I LOVE EVGA!! They make some of the best cards!

Pros: Great performing card! Only extreme gamers will not be happy. I bought with a great combo price. I'm very happy with the deal I got. Newegg rules!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: This is a follow up review to let everyone interested know about the rebate. I put it in a mailbox on the evening of 11-3-08. I received it on 12-1-08. This is outstanding compared to most other rebates. This is the 2nd EVGA product I've purchased and I can't say anything bad about EVGA and will buy from them again.

Pros: Great card... Bought it for my little bro's B-day poor guys was getting 15fps on WoW. Now he is getting 60+. Could be getting more see below. Installed easy. I had a bad experience with the latest Nvidia, I got BSD, reinstalled previous version worked like a charm.

Cons: If thing were any hotter I could light a cigarette with it. I cannot OC it cuz it will run at 90 plus. The case doesn't have the best airflow but even with the side off and a desk fan blowing on high it sits at 85c. Case closed and OC'd will hit 96+ thasts way too hot. I have double PCI slot fan blowing right on it as well.

The Rebate never arrived.

Pros: Great card. I've had it for a year, and it's still going strong, able to play any modern game I throw at it. I'm a gamer, but not really a power user; at moderate detail settings and 2x or 4x AA, I never have to worry about a drop in FPS.

Cons: By the time you're reading this review, there might be something much better for a small price increase. The 8600GT was the perfect balance between price and performance over a YEAR ago.

Other Thoughts: If you're on a tight budget and aren't sure what to get, but you want a card that'll last, I can definitely recommend the 8600GT.

Rating + 5 Card and rebate are first rate

Pros: I can't say enough about the ease of use and installation of the card. It was a steal for what I paid after rebate. The rebate came in a matter of weeks with no hassle or follow up trying to see where my money is. I'm very impressed with EVGA and shall purchase from them again.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If only every company operated like this.

Pros: IT RUNS GUITAR HERO.... AND CRYSIS(Medium high).... ON HIGH... AND THE WITCHER.. ON MEDIUM(really does need a super computer to run on high.) I really don't see a difference with the 8500GT with 512MB of vid ram but this is a steal

Pros: Works great out of the box in a Hackintosh using the EFI Studio hex string addition. I was looking for cheap, but not too cheap, graphics. This seems to do the trick. Lots of extra cables and brackets in the box. I don't need them now, but it is a great addition to my collection of extra gear.

Cons: None yet identified.

Other Thoughts: waiting on rebate. Never know how that will work out...

Rating + 5 Great Card, Low Price

Pros: Low price, great graphics, rebate. You really can't go wrong with this deal if your on a budget and can't spend several hundred dollars on a new card.

Cons: Wasn't free. Newegg really needs to share the love seeing I've been buying from them via ABS computers for over ten years now! All kidding aside, they have ALWAYS been great, on time, quality products.

Other Thoughts: My old GeForce 7 series card got sick and I had to replace it. World of Warcraft looks great, plays smooth. My monitor died two days ago. The new one will make things look even better!!!

Pros: works so far. no real complaints. supports my 24" Acer 1080p monitor, but currently I'm using the dvi-vga adapter and using vga input to monitor because I don't have a dvi to HDMI adapter/cable (the monitor is HDMI or VGA, no dvi input) . CoD4 looks great.

Cons: crysis not so good. i'm at 1024x768 and all low settings. Could be my CPU, an AMD 3400+. turns into slideshow during hectic battles in single-player game.

Other Thoughts: 4GB, Vista Ultimate 64bit. I plan on ordering a second one for SLI to give my system some more breathing room.

Pros: Great card for little money. Two of these in SLI will play anything out there now.Small form factor. Don't have to hack your case up to get them to fit.

Cons: None considering price.

Rating + 5 Very Pleased

Pros: Does exactly what it says.
Runs WoW at 1290X1024 with every option maxed out BUT the shadows (even then it still ran ok)
Super clean graphics and awesome colors. Beats the ever living snot out of the on board 6150LE that I had.
The best bang for the buck in my opinion, with the rebate it is fifty dollars, a huge value due to the performance you gain.

Cons: By no fault of EVGA or New Egg, I had to return one as it does require 18A on the 12V power supply going to the PCI-E bus. Mine had only 16A, the other computer had 19A. I didn't find this documented well at all, until I read the box. It isn't on the manual or in the specifications (at least not that I saw). This particular card has no external power hookups, it must be through the PCI-E bus.

Other Thoughts: I just bought the GTS for the lower voltage CPU because it comes with an external power hookup, and of course I upgraded the power supply as well. (Even with the new power supply, it still didn't give enough juice on the bus), but I get a beefier rebate for the same cost of card! Bonus!

Pros: Plays all games currently out. Expecting it to play Left 4 Dead when it comes out on the 18th, too.

No hangups with COD4 at full settings whatsoever. Runs relatively COOL at 60 degrees C--not as low as it could be with better fans, but well, WELL within safety limits for GPU.

Cons: Fan might be a little bit better, but works good as is.

Other Thoughts: Unbeatable price. Snag it up while you can!

Pros: worked in non PCIe 2.0 PC.

Cons: card would not be detected by an ASUS P5Q board. After buying this card and installing it (and replacing both card and Motherbord at least once.) I find out that this card is PCIe 1.1 and would not work with PCIe 2.0 board.

Other Thoughts: it could be ASUS problem for not being backword compatible. but P5q and 8600GT does not play nice.

Rating + 5 Good card for the money

Pros: First off, this isn't for the heavy gamer. It plays all but the most intensive games pretty well from what I've read, but not the intense ones.
My interest in this card was its ability to decode DVDs without intensive cpu usage. It does that well. Watching a DVD, I monitor the cpu usage and it doesn't register more than a few percentage points of the cpu usage. The other reason for buying this was for hooking it up to my 42" LCD TV for home theater. Nvidia control panel lets you clone displays so I still have my smaller, 17" monitor on my desk enabled. Handy for when I need to burn a few DVDs or CDs.
It plays DVDs without so much as a flicker. Rendering shadows are a bit dicey, its somewhat mottled, but most vid cards do this anyway, even at 3 times the price.

Cons: The fan is somewhat noisy and doesn't dump hot air outside the case as some other cards do. GPU does run cool, typically about 32 deg C.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a cheap card to play earth shaking games, this ain't the one. There are better cards and GPUs out there. In fact, there are better cards now for what I do. They were simply too much money when I bought this card.

Pros: Supports DirectX 10. That in itself makes this card awesome. Comes with everything you need to make it work. It supports SLI as most PIC-E cards do. I come from a long generation of AGP cards and now I am shocked at the difference.

Cons: Not worth taking an egg, but the package says that a sticker kit to put on your tower comes in the box. I did not get one :(.

Other Thoughts: My motherboard does not support SLI, so I don't know how this card would work in SLI mode. It rocks in single mode, I cannot imagine how an EVGA card would look in tripple SLI

Rating + 5 defines "value"

Pros: I was looking for an inexpensive upgrade to my linux box budgeting under $50...never thought I would put something like this in a simple little workstation. After considering the options (FX5200 geforce 7's etc.) I have something pretty neat to play with, way more than I need but heck for 34 papes, I might even try a little gaming with this old P4 rig.

Cons: So cheap I felt like I was stealing this card (after rebate) but no remorse, I dropped enough coin on my "old" 8800gt. Packaging (from evga) could have been better, the card was rattling around loose with the driver pack, cables and two adapters; a capacitor was bent over pretty severely but the card lives and the 2 year warranty from evga puts my mind at ease.

Other Thoughts: It is almost silly how easily this thing installs under Ubuntu. It saw the card and (after a preachy warning about installing proprietary software) offered to go get the drivers and install. Windows has nothing over this...which is now virtualized flawlessly under its linux host. Kudos nvidia, support of the *nix world is kindly appreciated. I'm really starting to question why I bother keeping a "pure" MS box at all (one word: crysis).

Pros: Price-to-performance ratio. Does not require a separate 6-pin power supply like many other beefed-up cards, thus less power consumption. I guess, if you don't have much room in your case, this 8600 series is pretty much the max you can get for nVidia.
Picture quality!!! The component output renders beautiful color and resolution on my 42" 1080i plasma TV. Absolutely amazing~~~!!!

Cons: None that I can think of...

Other Thoughts: Microsoft disabled the full screen mirroring in Windows Vista. The Theater Mode in ATI cards doesn't work, either. Windows Vista seems the biggest failure of Microsoft even more so than Windows Me since they're previewing Windows 7 already.

Pros: For the price, this is a good card. It replaced an old 7300LE that I had in a spare computer. Runs quiet and cool.

Cons: Not as quick as I had hoped. My main machine has the 8800GT, and has nearly no problems with anything I throw at it. I had hoped the 8600GT would be closer.

Other Thoughts: If you can't afford to go with a 8800GT or better, this is a good value card. Runs most things at decent settings, with decent frame rates.

Pros: Vista score: Graphics 5.9, gaming 5.5. Vista 64 installed latest drivers (178.13) automatically, no need for the disc. $35 rebate when I ordered it 2 days ago, now the rebate's $40... sweet. Compact size (compared to 8800GT, for instance), so it wont crowd your RAM.

Cons: Runs hot, but not unreasonable: we'll see...

Other Thoughts: I may be jumping the gun here, as it is brand new, but for $40 after the rebate,... yikes! This is my first Vista build, and one thing I've learned is that if you just let Vista do its thing when installing hardware, you may just get away with it.

Cons: Rare pixilation when watching HD IPTV (Tekzilla / Systm -revision3.com). Could be the card or it could be a glitch while downloading.

Other Thoughts: You will not be able to use this to play Crisys.

Pros: DX-10 Support.
Plays pretty much every newer game.
Low power requirements.
EVGA support.

Cons: I can feel the 256MB onboard memory holding me back in some instances.
I've owned the card for about 10 months and for some reason its starting to stutter on me in a couple games.

Other Thoughts: i bought this card when it was a little more expensive (eek) but it has allowed me to play every game on high settings at 1680x1050 except Crysis, but who cares. If you need a budget card and game occasionally (especially older games) then this card is a gem. Although, with 8800's and 9800's, almost in the same price range, if you have an extra 30 bucks, you might as well get one of those.

Pros: rates a 5.9/5.5 in vista, very very nice. I started WoW and i maxed all the settings and this bad boy still pulls 70 fps no problem. Fan is very quiet,

Cons: had a little bit of a glitch trying to run FarCry.. it didnt work very well, never got the problem fixed, i just got rid of the game. You have to have the installation disk to install driver, i tried getting it off of nvidia.com, but think i downloaded the wrong software because it didnt work until i threw the disc in.

Other Thoughts: i popped the wrong metal plate off in the back of my computer for this thing thinking it was going in the slot above where it actually lined up with, now i have a nice 1 inch by 5 inch gaping hole (more airflow) :D

Rating + 5 Card works great

Pros: The card has worked flawlessly for 8 months and counting. I use the card mostly to play DAOC. I can run at max res and the picture is prefect. I have never had an issue with this card and it is a great value. It does not overheat. I have watched the temps with PC Wizard 2008, and it's staying in a cool range.

Cons: It wasn't free and didn't come with a bikini model.

Other Thoughts: I realize this isn't a top end card, but I have to say, this card is great. If you need a card for mid-range games, and possibly high end games (I wouldn't know, because I haven't tried it with Warhammer or AoC), than this is the card for you.

Rating + 5 Excellent card

Pros: Extremely fast, quiet, and no need for a power adapter. Set up was a breeze - I completely skipped the CD that came with it and installed the newest drivers. This was bought mainly for Warhammer Online, and I run it at 1440x900 with every option maxed out with no slowdown. I have yet to try it with other games yet, but will post more information as I have it.

Cons: As other reviews have said, this card does run hot. It idles at about ~55-60C, and operates at about 68-80C under gaming load. This isn't a huge knock, but I am working on my own airflow and cooling options to knock this down about 10-15C.

Other Thoughts: This is a great card, and you simply cannot beat the price-to-performance ratio. Sure, it runs a bit hot, but it is not a deal-breaker. I whole-heartedlywould suggest this if you are looking for a lower priced card to have fun with.

Rating + 5 quiet and just about perfect in every way

Pros: Installation and setup are extremely easy. I downloaded the latest drivers and software before installing the card, and bypassed the installation CD that came with the card altogether. Dual screen setup with this card couldn't be easier. I'm not a gamer, but regular displays running variety of programs using this graphics card are smooth and snappy, without any glitches. I was a little bit concerned about the fan because I'm used to fanless graphics cards, but this one is so quiet I can't hear anything over my CPU fan, which is among the quietest barring the passive cooling systems. You would have to be using a nearly silent PC in order to notice and complain about the fan of this graphics card.

Cons: Nothing really.

Other Thoughts: Like all video cards, this also defaults a very low resolution setting before the drivers and software are installed, and thus completely messes up your desktop and requires a tedious rearrangement after the drivers and software are installed. This is the only unpleasant experience of changing a graphics card, but I believe is a universal problem suffered by all graphics cards. The real cause is the operating system not the cards.

Rating + 5 Great card for the price!

Pros: i recently bought a PC from Dell..pretty great set up except for the ON BOARD GRAPHICS..i ordered this card , and it was NOT a let down, the thing plays any lower end games pretty great. i play day of defeat source/1.6 counterstrike 1.6, far cry, all at high settings, except for far cry, im sure it can play it but im still running stock psu, which is 350w..i'll jack the settings up today..its still running at high on far cry..this is a great card for people on a budget, i didnt even bother sending in the rebate, but if you do, the card would end up being 50 bucks!! and you can sli them later on, i would but only have one slot for this, but its great! booted my vista experience from a 2. something up to 5.5 i think, not that it ran any below average before i had it.

Cons: none. except for finding the right far cry drivers to play it on vista, but that has nothing to do with this card..NO flaws!

Other Thoughts: stats: 2.40ghz intel core 2 quad processor, 3gb ram, 500gb hardrive, vista premium, and now, this 8600gt...great card if you're on a budget or don't care for high end gaming, although you could play any new game out..probably not on highest settings, but this is a must own card for anyone into casual gaming! day of defeat, counter strike, team fortress, etc

Rating + 3 If you have ASUS P5Q PRO, do not buy this card

Pros: Never got the chance to see its performance.

Cons: It did not work with my ASUS P5Q PRO motherboard, probably compatibilty issues with PCI-E older version of the card.
I dont know who to blame, EVGA or ASUS, or Newegg. EVGA did not accept RMA, since the product is not defective. Newegg is replacing with the same product only, which wont work with my ASUS. I explained this situation and waiting for an answer from Newegg. We'll see.

Rating + 4 Sufficient for what I need to do

Pros: Haven't had any problems with the replacement one I was sent. Runs my 2 24" LG widescreens flawlessly, and HD looks great on it. Newegg did a nice job of sending me my new one in a timely manner.

Cons: First one came DOA. Took me quite a while to troubleshoot it because I wasn't sure if the issue was with my motherboard

Rating + 3 Not compatible with the Asus P5Q Series

Pros: Can't say I can think of any.

Cons: Card is not compatible with the Asus P5Q series motherboards. Was doing a build for a friend and after doing a bit of research on why I wasn't getting video it came to my attention that this card is PCI-e 1.1 and not 2.0 and since the Asus P5Q series isnt backwards compatible.. no worky.

Other Thoughts: I'm sure this is a decent card when coupled with a motherboard. I don't really put all the blame on this card or eVGA, as the Asus P5Q should be backwards compatible, but oh well. If you have any mobo in the P5Q series stay away from this card.

Rating + 5 Great for price

Pros: It a very good card if you dont really need the power. If your a hardcore gamer then I recommend spending a little more a getting a 8800 or 9800 but if you just want a good videocard for a low price then you can't really beat this card. Its great for watching movies and anything else you may be doing, even moderate gaming.

Cons: You get what you pay for, it works as intended so can't really complain.

Rating + 2 Your Asus P5Q Pro won't work with this card

Pros: Cheap. 2 DVIs. Doesn't take up much space.

Cons: Not compatible with the Asus P5Q Pro motherboard I just bought - no POST on my new build. It took a day to finally eliminate the RAM as a cause. Then found complaints on the Asus Forum. Then found out this item is non-refundable.

Other Thoughts: Actually more of an Asus problem - use only PCI-E 2.0 video cards in a P5Q mobo !!
Learned two things:
1) Always check to see if an item is non-refundable
2) Always look at the 1 or 2-egg reviews for compatiblility issues.

Rating + 5 Pro Gamer

Pros: I loved it right when i got it. For its awesome price its well worth the money. ***** 5 Stars =)

Cons: The wait was 2 days which i didn't mind much. Kinda difficult to install onto my motherboard because of its chunkieness, but i guess its just the way my wires are wired.

Rating + 5 Good Budget Card

Pros: The price is good, the card never gave me problems, it was able to handle games at med. to high at decent FPS, good for a mid-range system, quiet

Cons: produces heat,a good amount of it

Other Thoughts: When I got it, it was for $120, this is not the right card for me. Two of these can't stand to an 8800. It was good while it lasted
