Rating + 5 Great Video Card

Pros: Owned this card for around a year now, never had a single problem with it. Ive been able to run Crysis at full settings with only minimal FPS lag. I have world of warcraft set to ultra video settings and i easily still get 50-60 fps. Totally awesome card, cant beat the price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Physical size of the card is huge

Rating + 1 DON'T RMA through EVGA

Pros: none so far

Cons: Card was defective on arrival - fan would spin out of control on Windows boot and games were rendered with artifacts and virtually unplayable.

EVGA didn't want to RMA until I tested card in different machine - like everyone has two compatible machines around. I do and did test it - same defects.

When they agreed to RMA - I had to jump through a dozen hoops to make it happen - which - 12 days later - it still hasn't.

Other Thoughts: There are large stickers on the card box indicating not to return the card to the retailer, but RMA through EVGA - DON'T do that. If possible, go directly through newegg's great customer service.......
Manufacturer Response:Hi,

We apologize for this experience, EVGA stands behind our products and services, if you have any further questions you can contact me directly at jacobf@evga.com

Rating + 5 Great for old Mac Pros

Pros: I bought this to flash for my early 2006 Mac Pro. I followed a variety of tutorials, built a new ROM, and flashed it with absolutely no difficulties. Be careful, of course, but when you're done you can expect a perfectly functioning card.

Cons: None.

Rating + 5 Great Bang for your Buck

Pros: Fast for the Price! (I bought on newegg for $85 after MIR). Was the first G92 core graphics card so same as any 9xxx series cards and the gts 250. Overclocks well (i use 970 core, 1675 shader and 1000 memory with no issues). Overall a great card that'll last me until the directx 11 cards come out.

Cons: If you haven't bought graphics cards in a while, they've become very large. Make sure you have atleast a decent size mid-tower.

Other Thoughts: Download EVGA precision tool off their website once you register your card (that also gets you the lifetime warranty). It's a great overclocking tool that's easy to use and is very easy to access profiles right off the desktop (for reducing fan speed once you finish a game)

Rating + 5 Excellent card

Pros: This will run pretty much anything you throw at it. The adjustable fan speed makes this thing run cooler than my old 7600GT.

Cons: It's BIG. It's about 4 times the size of a normal video card. It covered my SATA connectors and I had to get a new mobo. It's a tight fit in there now. Plan accordingly.

The adjustable fan speeds do not carry over after reboot even after I configured it to do that. It won't kill the system to run at the default but I like it running as cool as possible.

Other Thoughts: If you have the room to fit this monster get it. You won't regret it unless you must max out the latest games.

Rating + 5 Great card for the price

Pros: Cheap card that can handle most game graphics you throw at it. My Vista score for graphics almost doubled, but i was running a nvida 6600 so that probably isn't as impressive as it sounds.

Cons: Large, I had to rearange my hard drives as this was rubbing up against them.

Other Thoughts: I was able to turn my graphics way up with this card. I found that it will run WOW in my system on then next to highest lvl. At highest ultra lvl the fps dropped when in crowded areas, but this could be partially a limitation of my computer and not just the card.

Rating + 5 Amazing!!!

Pros: This baby was made a good while ago and it still can handle 9/10 of my games on completely FULLL graphics, the only game that it cant handle is crysis :P (DUH) this thing WILL give you some of the very best bang for your buck, theres always to 295 but hey who wants to spend $500 on a graphics card? not me!

Cons: Cant handle crysis, boo hoo it CAN handle crysis on decent graphics, they r STILL good looking but it cant anti-alias at all

Other Thoughts: once again the best bang for your buck!

Rating + 5 EVGA 8800GTS

Pros: Excellent bang/buck. All the new 9800GTX+ and GTS250 cards are very similar to this one and built on the same architecture, so if you don't mind having an older model number with very similar performance this is the card you want. Absolutely crushes most games at 1680*1050 with settings maxed and can handle games at 1920*1080 no problem. Fan speed is set to 36% by default but is adjustable through 3rd party programs like R***Tuner. At 46-48% it is barely audible above the case fans in an Antec 900 and cools a lot better. Card idles around 55C in a well ventilated case at stock fan speed, but kicking up the fan a bit keeps it under 50C.

Cons: 9" long and dual slot. Probably not a con if you are looking at this card though, as you expect this from such a powerful piece of hardware. It's so hard to come up with real cons for this thing, as a year and a half ago this thing went for close to 300 bones. A steal at today's price.

Actual core clock is 650 mhz, not the advertised 670 mhz.

Need to register the card on EVGA's website for lifetime warranty. None of these things are worth taking an egg.

Other Thoughts: Use a program like R***Tuner to adjust the fan speed and make your card a little happier. No idea why they set the default fan speed so low, a 10-12% boost creates virtually no extra noise but does wonders for cooling.

Download the newest drivers from Nvidia. Don't use the CD that came with, as it is severely outdated.

This card will keep me happy for a good 1.5-2 years and all new games will be playable at decent settings during that time. Can't stress how powerful this card is for the money you pay.

Rating + 3 Performs well....has problems

Pros: Does what it's supposed to. Peformance is acceptable for a card of this price range.

Cons: Quality is spotty. Had to RMA the card for an exchange (NOTE: NO RMA FOR REFUND ON THIS CARD). Cooling fan ran at 100% at all times. Extremely loud. Even EVGA's own utility would not manually reduce the speed, nor would Riva-Tune etc. Fancy sticker was peeling off day one.
Put in a support ticket at EVGA...no response.

Other Thoughts: I've replaced the card with a Gigabyte 9600, with 1gig of ram for $-10 more. Since I can't RMA the Evga card for a refund...I'm just getting a replacement...which means I've got a $120 paper weight and no use for it. I can't have my business computer down for weeks waiting for a replacement so I had to order the Gigabyte card.

Newegg is great...but read the return policy for each item before you order. Most video cards can be RMA'd for a refund....not this EVGA card....should be a clue that their are problems with the card.
Manufacturer Response:Hi,

Please contact us directly at 888-880-3842 so we can find the issue, there are no known issues with this card.

Thanks,
Jacob

Rating + 5 The Forgotten Monster

Pros: 128 stream processors, G92 (NOT G80), 65nm, performs better than the 8800GTX and ATI 3870... Especially after you overclock the newer 65nm GPU. Scales VERY well in SLI mode.

Cons: Only 512MB of RAM, but I may use the step up option in the next couple of months

Other Thoughts: This card will max out any game out there, with the exception of Crysis. You'll need two of them for that :)

Rating + 5 Very Surprised

Pros: This card is nowhere near as big, heavy and cumbersome as I was afraid of. Put it in a gigabyte micro atx board inside a rosewill mid tower case. Fits just right, doesn't stress the board with excessive weight like an 8800 ultra will. Also doesn't cover any sata ports. Works perfectly with the latest nvidia drivers. See other thoughts for performance.

Cons: I still wish there was an easy way to change the AUTO fan speed defaults. I just have my own preferences and like to have control without having to use third party software. But that's an nvidia gripe, not evga.

Other Thoughts: I'm running this beast on pci express 1.0 with a spazzed out chipset, mismatched ram, and an oldschool netburst 925 presler. I was sure that the comp would bottleneck somewhere before I got any new games running halfway decent. But that's the real surprise to me. This card takes almost all of the load onto itself and hardly feels it. The only limitation I've found is with my cpu not keeping up with certain effects, which I can turn down so that it's almost unnoticeable. Runs L4D at 1920x1200 with EVERYTHING on high except for the one option for cpu handled effects. And the game decided that for me. I guess even programs can see the quality of this thing.

Cons: so long it barely fit into my computer.

Pros: I was glad to see Newegg got these back in stock. I bought my first over a year ago and now I was able to get a second for SLI. Both are a bit overclocked and I'm running an E8400 at 3.8ghz (stock voltage) I'm getting 18,200 on 3dmark 06 (running XP) at default test settings. The system is connected in the living room to my 47" LCD. Any game I've played runs perfect - most maxed except for Crysis (of course).

Cons: NONE. Dated but still performs quite well and with nVidia rebadging the same products into 'newer' product lines....

Other Thoughts: Absolutely no complaints. At this price would HIGHLY recommend and if you can, get 2 for higher res gaming.

Rating + 4 Nice and stable

Pros: Ran card through stability test with Furmark with top settings. Card took the punishment well, temperature stabilized, and no freeze ups or anything.

Cons: Had to take off the cool sticker, as it was coming off the card anyway. EVGA forgot to peel off some of the thin plastic underneath the sticker.

Also, nVidia SLI doesn't work the way you'd expect with two monitors, and fails with certain games. Better to just turn off SLI and use the cards separately.

Other Thoughts: EVGA outsources its rebate to Parago, Inc, a datacenter in Lewisville, TX. They denied my rebate due to an 'Invalid Purchase Date'. However, Promotion #09-79236 from EVGA states that if the purchase was made between 5/01/2009 and 05/31/2009 and postmarked by 6/30/2009, then the $20 rebate is valid. My invoice states the purchase was made on 5/18/2009. It is not yet 6/30/2009.

I have filed complaint # 23130505 with the FTC for this questionable behavior. If Parago, Inc. is denying rebates without reason, and keeping the money for themselves, this needs to be brought out into the light.

Rating + 5 More epic then the 9000's

Pros: ~Best card ever, Upgraded from a 8600 GT

~Runs Crysis on VERY HIGH EVERYTHING

~Somewhat big, had to move some cords around to get it in.

~Cool sticker makes it look GREAT, (Maybe i should frame instead of putting it in my computer)

~WAY out preforms 9000's (it's cheaper then them to!)

Cons: Seems to get a little hot under load, Not really a con just wish it ran cooler.

Rating + 5 Wow!

Pros: This attractive graphics card can handle anything you throw at it. It is easily OC's and can take very high amounts of heat. I use it for many, many games and have had no problems with lag at all. I highly recommend this!

Cons: MAKE SURE YOUR PSU IS SUFFICIENT FOR THIS GRAPHICS CARD. You need a MINIMUM of 26 Amps on the 12V rail (for the whole PC) I had 25 and my machine was very laggy in games so just make sure.

Rating + 5 Nice Card At Bargain Price

Pros: Easy to install. Smooth driver performance. No problems playing WoW at 1920x1200 with max effects.

Cons: Card is a bit chunky and covers the adjoining PCI slot. However it still fit in my mini-ATX case with some cable re-routing.

Other Thoughts: Much better than the ATI card I replaced which kept blanking out the screen (suspect overheating). Drivers seem to be more stable as well.

Rating + 5 Great card for the price

Pros: I have been using a laptop for a while with the Nvidia Quadro 140M. I know that is a really low end card but this is a huge jump. The only games I have played on it so far are counterstrike source and World of Warcraft. I played both at 1920 X 1080 and get great frame rate (about 160fps in CS Source and between 50 - 130fps in WoW).

Cons: Fairly big card

Rating + 5 AWESOME VIDEO CARD

Pros: I was worried that this card wouldn't be enough power for what I needed it for, and almost bought 2. I am sure glad that I didn't! This card HAULS! I haven't found a single game that this thing cant handle!

CUDA is awesome and allows my video card to be used as a number crunching machine for SETI @ home!

Cons: Doesn't support dual hardware out, so if you're looking for a single card that can do dual hardware out, keep on looking. Not that it makes that much of a difference for me considering I only need one hardware-accelerated monitor.

I don't think that you will ever find a game that will push this thing to the limit. But that is a problem with the game industry and not the card.

Other Thoughts: If you had two of these things in SLI, golly willickers they would fly !

Rating + 5 Incredible value....especially SLI

Pros: Hey people...if your ever going to buy a high performance card, for next to nothing, then here it is. I originally paid more than twice the price and it was worth it. Now Newegg has a deal that is too good to be true. This is THE excuse to go SLI if I ever saw it. One card kicks, and a pair rocks even on the biggest displays.

Cons: At this price you would have to be insane to complain. This card outperforms everything in any sub$100 market.

Other Thoughts: Convince your wife they are giving these away for free, because they just about are. The performance is about as good as any 9800 class board. This one just has a little older sticker, and a bit older bios. Just buy it.

Rating + 5 Great Performance for Price

Pros: Plays all my games maxed out at 1680x1050: Mass Effect, The Witcher, CallOf Duty WAW, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Crysis playes very well on all HIGH settings with no antialiasing. Temps are much better than I expected compared to the old 8800gt EVGA 512-P3-N801-A1 which my brother has. His would hit 80-90 degrees easy when playing games, but this card stays at 73 degrees when playing games and idles at 62. I leave my fan set to auto and have not had any lockups at all. EVGA Precision tool makes it easy to monitor temps and overclock and change fan speed. I have not overclocked mine as I really don't see the need. This is also a quiet card. Cant hear it when it idles or even when playing games really. Most people won't need more than the amazing performance this card offers for its low price. Slightly faster than the regular 8800gt or 9800gt. Has more procesing cores and higher clocks than either and costs less. Don't be fooled by Nvidia's naming system.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: When playing Crysis my PSU emits a whistling sound. This is the ONLY game that does it. All others run just fine. I have a cheap $20 chiefmax 550watt PSU.

Other Thoughts: SLI setup of this card is just a few frames shy of a 285 GTX.

Rating + 5 Excellent card for the price!

Pros: This card is really fast and handles just about all the latest games on decently high settings. The only one I had issues with was GTAIV but that was expected; it's a hog and prefers a quad. I only have a dual core. Regardless, it still is very playable on medium settings.

Cons: This isn't really a con because it was my fault but be aware that this video card needs 26 amps on the 12v rail. I had a 500w PSU and assumed it could easily handle it. After I bought this card I was reading a little more about it and stumbled on this requirement. I ended up having to buy a new PSU to support it. Again though, this was my fault and I probably needed a PSU upgrade anyways considering it was a freebie for a case I got awhile back.

Other Thoughts: It's funny how big this card is next to my old X800 pro that used to be considered "fast".

My system is for high end photography, so this works for me, so far.

Cons: Kind of noisy...

Other Thoughts: ...but it resembles a Hot Rod, specially the rumbling noise at the start up.

Note: the big sticker attached to the "card" just fall off probably because the heat softened the glue and just laid ugly at the side of the Mobo... but you guys know your product design and costs.

Pros: Runs incredibly good. Solid performance with games like EVE Online ( Running with High Settings ). Nice budget choice for a dual SLI setup. Was concerned about the 400w recommended minimum PS. Pros: I bought this card way back when it was $300, and it ran games at the time great. And thanks to evga, I was able to step up to the 9800GTX. The GTS260/280 was released a month after my step period ended however :(

Cons: none... the PCB is green maybe?

Other Thoughts: Ran quite, 40-60% speed fan is still silent, OC'd pretty good too, make sure to run riva tuner and have some fun in there.

Rating + 3 Best part is the lifetime warranty

Pros: Fast, plenty room to overclock this GPU if you need to, won;t get too hot if you manually set the fan to 80 - 90%.
Getting slightly old with the new faster 55nm GTS 250 for $20 more but if you get the rebate thsi card still has value.

Cons: Without manual settig, the fan won't increase until the GPU gets to 75 C, not a good design.
Fan is on the loud side.
Barely faster than the standard 9800 GT or older 8800 GTS 320 mb. Good upgrade only if going from 8600 GTS or lower.
If you overclock your e8400 CPU to around 3.5, 3.6 4 GHz, this videocards starts to bottleneck

Other Thoughts: I should not be looking at this card again but the $84 (after rebate) makes it attractive as I need to replace my interestingly enough EVGA 8800 GTS 512 which died last week after 120 days of use. I bought it last January, the recertified model that came with only a 90 day warranty. After it died, EVGA said too bad, no support, warranty was over. However, Newegg said sorry for the inconvenience and surprised me with a substantial discount towards a replacement. Way to go Newegg!

Rating + 5 Amazing card

Pros: This card as many have said before will play everything you throw at it at very reasonable fps on max setting with the exception of crysis. Which is better suited running at med to med high settings. All games iv thrown at this card run very smooth and look incredable. Im really glade to see The egg got this one back in as im really looking forward to sli now to much of a budget to deam buying 2 new vid cards to do this. And being that these run rock solid with no hiccups i dont want to part with the first one till I truly need too.

Cons: None The card is amazing and runs just how it should.

Other Thoughts: Iv noticed people worried about heat and the size of this card. I have my system in a Nzxt Apollo Black mid tower case im currently only running one of these as after this review i will have order a second one for sli, but there is plenty of room for 2 of these cards in this case. As far as temps go i cant complain im using a tuner app to adjust fan speeds I have my fan duty cycle at 35% and at idle im 40-42c and under a full load i have not seen temps above 52c even after several hours of crysis. The fan can be loud at 100% but there is no need at all to have this set above 40% at which the fan is still pretty silent doesnt sound any louder then the normal case fans that came with my case.

Rating + 5 Awesome card

Pros: This card gives you extreme bang for the buck. Powerful at stock settings, it run crysis at 25+ FPS. At around 10FPS you start to notice the shuttering...so it still looks beautiful.

Two of these in SLI will best most 9series in sli (for the price range).

The drivers avaliable for download are perfect, its been around for so long that all issues have been patched.

Cons: frame reates could be better but i am still running my Duo. if you have a quad setup, then these will keep you happy for a couple of years in sli. (for the fan boys, crysis is more processor demanding then graphics :p )

Evga technical support is fantastic, always more then happy to go to extra mile to keep you satisfied.

Other Thoughts: Wonderful card:
powerful
inexpensive
EVGA goodness

you ought to go buy one tonight, they rarely last more then a day when they get back in stock.

and once they are gone...well lets just say, no one sells these things. at least no one who seems legit.

Rating + 5 After 10 months, still a winner

Pros: Basically a card comes along once in a while that is a "gem". This is that card. I own two and have used in two different computers and am now running SLI. Likewise. I also owned the PNY 320 mb version. If you DONT know, this has a more advanced chip in it than the 320 or 640 mb versions. Its basically a 9 series card, so dont be fooled by the nomenclature. It WAY outperformed the other 8800GTS with 320 MB. PERIOD. It also runs great in SLI. This card is fantastic, And with a dual core or i7 chipset runs essentially anything you put at it.

I can say honestly this is the best card i have ever owned. I bought one for full price and another b stock for 100 bucks. 150 is more than fair (price as of writing). THis car outperforms cards generations above it. A perfect candidate for SLI with the latest drivers.

Cons: Only minor cons: Its physically big and must get hot. I have use this card in three cases:
1. An antec 1200 (great fit, but the second card partically covers the extra USB expansion ports on the mobo)
2. A thermaltake Lan box (fits with an inch or so of clearance, but live is certianyl crowed in there
3. Some stock HP case. (Yes it fit, but seriously, get a REAL case if you don't have one. They don't go obsolete really and the prices are fair. The HP case i tried this in is currently in the "parts pile". might make grandma a computer or something someday)

The card must get hot because the blue artwork is starting to warp a tad. Its basically an attractive sticker placed on the face of the card. I don't care really... the card rocks.

Other Thoughts: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD AIRFLOW/SPACE IN YOUR CASE. This should be a given, but its so important. I hate that a decent case is called an "enthusiast case", like as if those pathetic grey things help the hardware even for a casual user. Get an antec 900 at least. I hope if you're looking at this card my advice is "moot"/ "a given".

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT POWER ALSO.

Final bit? Running three of these in SLI on a 32 bit system will hog your ram. If you have an x58 board, and multiple of these, they will require at LEAST 2 gigs. Vista sucks, but get a 64 bit OS. We're all keeping our fingers crossed for windows 7, right?

Otherwise? 5 EGGS. PERIOD. THIS CARD ROCKS. Best bang for your $$$$. My only cons were merely warnings for those considering he card, but not as informed as other buyers. For most of you i am stating the obvious.

To anyone i say you are nuts to not get a GREAT video card like this these days. Its arguably just as important, if not more so than a good pr

Rating + 5 whoot for newegg!

Pros: with proper cooling. you can run any game on High settings...with just one card (not with verticle sync, and that hardxcore stuff, but otherwise high settings).

if you play on steam (HL2DM, CSS, TF2, L4D) then this is all you really need. and on those games, it handles MAX settings on everything (even verticle sync and all that good stuff).

as for Bioshock or crysis level games, you will get great frames per seccond on high settings.

and fyi, i dident overclock this card either. so for those who want that extra power, i hear they overclock nicely.

Cons: it takes up two slots, but if you are looking for performance it has to.

the drivers when it first came out sucked, but EVGA has long since fixed that problem.

in my case it runs a little hot (68C), but i use the hated APEVIA X-Plorer which dosn't have the air flow to keep it cool.

other then that, this card is amazing.

Other Thoughts: I was just about to bite the bullet and buy two new 9 series graphics cards. but then newegg got a whole bunch of these cards back in stock. so now i get to run these babies in SLI! whoot whoop

and seriously, no one gets rid of these cards. i looked every where for this edition of the 8800...and i found nothing (at least nothing that looked legit)

Rating + 5 Awesome card at an awesome price

Pros: This card is a beast, and comes at a price that is just too nice, especially with the MIR. I bought this card for folding, and am very happy with my decsion. With the current WUs, I am getting ~5500 PPD.
I don't game, but my friend who has this card plays GTA4 on high with no problems at all.
You can also easily overclock this, especially with the eVGA Precision tool, which is free on eVGA's website.
Even the sticker on the fan/heatsink is great (although you can't really see it when installed).
eVGA lifetime warranty and Step-Up program.

Cons: I don't have 2 of these yet :p
The fan is very loud at 100%, but that just means it's working. It gets drowned out by my CPU cooler at 70% or lower.

Other Thoughts: I actually bought the recertified version of this card from Newegg a month ago, and have had no issues. The card is overclocked to 750/1873/1050 easy, and can go much further.
The fan is set to 68%, and runs under 60*C at this setting under load, load being F@H at 100% usage.
I got 11703 in 3DMark06 at stock settings.
I have this card hooked up to a 32" Samsung LCD HDTV 720P, and have the resolution set to 1176x664, and it looks great.

Pros: This card still runs very well in my dusty case for almost a year now, runs Left 4 Dead, Far cry 2 on very high settings with no slow down.

Cons: My card crashed a few times playing COD4 for 5~6 hours straight, had to turn the fan up to 60%, after that it never crashed a again.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card when it first came out on newegg for 350$ with a copy of crysis, now its 130 bucks. Tech sure moves fast, I just hope I can still run a few 2009 games on HIGH setting on my rig.

Rating + 5 I heart my 8800GTS

Pros: Fast and relatively cheap.

Cons: Runs hot and fans never seemed to go above 20 or so percent even when folding. Downloaded a third party overclocking app and adjusted the fans to run at 65% and temps came down to 60-61C full load. Fan is louder now but it's barily audible above the rest of the system so I'm ok with it.

Other Thoughts: Killed my socket 939 motherboard they to move stuff around to get this into my case, whatever needed an upgrade anyway.

Have it paired now with an A64 4400+ @ 3GHz on a Gigabyte MA78G-DS3HP with 4GB of cheap transcend ram. Scored about 300 over 10K in 3Dmark06 and P7141 in 3Dmark Vantage. CPU is definitely a bottleneck here.

Cons: DOA from two different vendors.

Other Thoughts: It was a nice-looking card, but I have yet to see one in person that works. EVGA cards have always been problematic for me, so I'll go back to MSI cards. I've never had a problem with MSI cards.

As for this EVGA card, several of my friends have purchased this card as well and all have had problems of varying degrees.

I recommend staying away from this particular card.

Pros: 8 months of service from this card and it has performed very well. This video card is the first one in over a decade of buying video cards (from both camps) that I have actually been pleased with its performance. Very, very stable and quite fast. It draws a relatively small amount of power for what it delivers.

Cons: Most cards today share the problems of size and heat. This one is no exception. The default fan speed could have been a bit higher. It will stay cooler if you change this with a 3rd party application.

Other Thoughts: eVGA seems to be a solid enough company, I like how they are doing things. If you run at 1600x1200 (or 1680x1050) or less I'd say this is still a good buy today at this price. For higher resolutions I would spend the extra to get a 260.

Pros: Great Upgrade from my SLI 7900gtos.The card wasn't as big as I thought it would be (antec 900 case). I went from barely being able to run assassins creed to running it all out.
"system specs below"

Cons: can't think of any, made a loud screeching noise at me on initial bootup cuz i was so excited i forgot to plug in the power :) lol
and maybe that i waited to long to get it

Other Thoughts: my system is a amd 64 x2 4400+ w/ 2gb ddr400 ram, A8n32-sli MB, raptor HD, xfi soundcard, I run COD4, TF2, Company of Heroes, and now assassins creed wonderfully. noticed a huge difference in all games with this card.

Rating + 5 Amazing Card

Pros: I originally owned a Radeon X1600, pretty lame card. wanting a card that could run todays games with 60+ fps and still cost around $200-$300. Once i had the card installed and working, i immediately found amazing results. before i could only run games with low/med settings, but now i was running them at full without lag. ive been running CS, CSS, Gmod, Bf2, Bf2142, Mercenaries 2, Tf2, and other games without any problems. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to get something like a GTX, but without the cost.

Cons: It is a pretty big card, although for me my pc case was large enough to hold it. It does require a cord to connect it directly to the power supply. I dont know if this is a real problem, it wasnt for me, but i figure i should note it.

Other Thoughts: This is the perfect card for anyone looking for GTX power without the large cost. You can run any of todays games at full and not find any problems. Beware its large size though.

Rating + 5 nice

Pros: Nice big heat sink and fan, easy over clocking. Plays COD4 and AOC in full graphics mode above 60 fps, which is faster than the human eye can recognize.

Cons: Fan is just for show unless you use EVGA's overclock program to bring it up to speed. This sucker gets hot just on idle, much less playing games or rendering 3D images in AUTOCAD or MATLAB. (too hot to touch even at some times)

Other Thoughts: Why stick a big s3xy fan in this beefy thing if it's default settings are set so low, you can't feel any air moving with your fingers? Guess people may complain about the fan noise, but if you are playing COD4 who gives a rat's behind?

Pros: Crysis - I'm playing it on 22" lcd 1680x1050 all on HIGH (shadows medium which I prefer) - avg 34fps; CoD4 - AF 16x AA 4x, avg 60-70fps (smooth as silk) - same resolution and details all maxed out, GRID - same resolution all maxed out - over 60fps avg, CS:Source - same all, 4xAA, 16xAF avg 150-200 fps, etc --- the only game I cannot max out is Crysis on my native 22" LCD resolution.

Cons: Original clock was 650MHz - advertised and bought as OC version at 670MHz - used *riva*tuner* to put it bit more and it's all good.

Other Thoughts: Q6600, 3GB RAM, 820GB (2 HDDs), ePower 550W Zumax PSU, G15 (ver 1), MX 518, 22" ViewSonic, etc

720/1782/1062 clocked via R*vaTuner.

With fan speeds set to 63% my temps do not go over 50C.

Pros: I bought this card 6 months ago and it's GREAT! I know others have said the same thing but it's true. I play Crysis, Bioshock, COD4, plus a lot of other games, with everything turned up high and they play and look beautiful.

I've only got Gigabyte GA-K8NMF-9 Motherboard, 2gbs of memory, 550 PSU and my processor is only an AMD 4400+, it not a monster machine, but this card still can handle the heavy processing of games like Cysis and COD4 flawlessly.

I forgot to mention, I'm playing these games on a 40in Samsung HDTV and yes this card handles it without a problem. So much fun!!! I can't wait for Fallout 3!!!

Cons: It's a giant, so make room.

Pros: This was the best thing I did to enhance my gaming experience. I fly falcon, and other flight sims as well as some FPS's all online.

This card has increased my fps by leaps over my 7800 even when I oc'd it. By the way, I have OC'd this card with great success and stability.

If you want to enhance your game play, get this card or better, depending on your budget. You will not be sorry.

Pros: This card is huge, but has fit both of the cases I've installed it in (both gaming cases) but it is also a huge step up from the 6800gs it replaced. I have yet to run into any problems with it, I've played BF2, HL2 episode 2, portal and a few other games and its handled them wonderfully.

Cons: Fan is set to something like 40%, you can change this with the software it comes with but after reboot you have to change it back. I just put a shortcut to the software in my startup folder to remind me to up the speed to 60-65%, which keeps it around 40 degree's at idle which is what the rest of my system runs at. Full load it will get into the 50's but that is acceptable.

Pros: This card is INSANE! I just got it and it kills everything I've got to throw at it. Upgraded from a cheap 7300LE and I'm glad I bought this card. I know Doom 3 is an older game, but I'm just using it as an example for both cards. 7300LE maxed out settings, 1280x1024, 15 fps. 8800 GTS maxed out settings, 1280x1024, 4x AA, 111 fps! Huge difference. Haven't checked UT3 fps yet, but it runs maxed out without a hiccup. I overclocked right out of the box too!

Cons: Not a single one.

Other Thoughts: A lot of people are saying that this card runs hot. I don't understand it. My card runs at 44c at idle and doesn't get above 58c under full load with my fan set at 50%. The 7300LE idled at 57c and 79c under full load. Also, this card is highly overclockable. I cranked it up by 50hz right out of the box. I would recommend this to anyone.

Pros: Fast, runs everything that I've tested it on max settings perfectly. Not much else to be said for a perfect card.

Cons: Big. REALLY BIG. I had to move my hard drive and a few wires out of the way to get it to fit. Make sure you have enough room in your case before buying this. Also, the fan is a little loud, but you don't really notice it while you are gaming, so that's not really a con.

Other Thoughts: Looked at all the good reviews and bought it, turns out to be a great card, just as what everyone said. Haven't tried OC'ing it yet, though. If you are looking for a great card, get this one.

Rating + 3 Not for me...

Pros: I'm sure this card can handle almost anything you can throw at it. Most reviews say this card is the best price;performance ratio card available.

Cons: For me, i had a rather tight fit, with my nForce 4 series mobo, and temperatures were outrageous. I just want to let people know, this card is very thick, much thicker than expected. My card was covering up a pin slot for one of my HD's (not a common problem for most people) and finally the card got so hot, i had white artifacts on my screen, and couldnt boot up.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have a case with great airflow, and a large, newer mobo. I finally decided to go with a 4870 just because it was thinner.

Cons: Price was still a little steep. It was between this and the 9800gtx for about the same price but at the time my case could not fit the 9800 :(

Other Thoughts: 4600 X2 @ stock and this card runs crysis 60+ fps on medium and 30+ fps on high @ 1600x1200.

Rating + 5 Absolutly Amazing

Pros: What can i say, this is truly well worth the money. This was my first pc build. Friend refered this card to me. Couldnt be happier.Runs everything i throw at it on MAX settings... other than Crysis. lol. Have not had a single problem with it. Using EVGA precision tool to o/c it and it still runs like a charm. I plan on upgrading and running 2 in SLI. i cant wait. Its def worth the money.

Cons: When using EVGA Precision i always turn fan to 100% when gaming and tune up the other settings as well, of course fan gets really loud, but keeps GPU very cool compared to normal speed. Just loud fan at times is all. Not a con considering its at 100%

Other Thoughts: e6750 o/c to 3.0GHz, EVGA 780i sli mobo, Seagate Barricuda 250g HDD, ABS Tagan BZ Series BZ1100 1100W PSU, Corsair 240-Pin SDRAM DDR2 800, and this card of course!

Rating + 4 Decent

Pros: Sweet card and can make your monitor do crazy things.

Cons: Runs kinda warm and now that I've got a 22" widescreen I should get another one and do SLI so I will have 1GB of ram

Other Thoughts: get the GTX if you're going to get a big monitor. Still an awesome card, STAY AWAY FROM THE 9800!!

Rating + 5 Outstanding card

Pros: This card is amazing. I recently bought my second one to run SLI and WOW. These cards take my games in and spit em out.

Before I upgraded to SLI of these I was running with an 8600 GTS, and it was disappointing when I got my new widescreen monitor and could no longer play TF2 with decent fps at the new widescreen resolution (1680x1050, I was playing with 1024x768 before... yeah... I know...) So to remedy by FPS issue I popped these bad boys in and man. I've cranked up every graphics setting I can, including a few console tweaks, and the game runs smooth as can be. Constant 60 FPS in the heaviest firefights. Not to mention CoD4, DoD:S, Doom3 all also @ highest settings.

Truly an amazing bang for the buck, if you're looking for an SLI solution that won't bust your wallet look no further, SLI'ing these cards yields excellent results.

Cons: Stock fan speed is something like 36%, I use Riva to have the fans @ 65% when I'm just on my desktop and 100% when in a game, and the cards run cool.

At first with stock speeds and my cruddy PC case they were idling at something like 54*C, now with Riva setting the fan speed to 65% in my new Antec 900 case they idle no higher than 41*C, when it gets cool at night with my window open they drop down to 38*C.

Other Thoughts: E8400 @ 3.6GHZ, 2x eVGA 8800 GTS G92, eVGA 780i mobo, 4GB DDR2 800 Corsair RAM, Western Digital 7600 RPM 250 GB HD, Antec TPQ-850 850 watt PSU, Antec 900 Case, Samsung 226CW Widescreen LCD

Pros: fast and secure. no need to spend the huge bucks on other cards unless you just want to be on the top of the curve. Unless you need the best of the best, this card will do you good for most applications. eats up eq2, wow and cyrsis

Cons: a bit large, can take over some mobos

Rating + 5 G92 is great!

Pros: Has 512mb DDR3, more than enough for 1280x1024 gaming.
In terms of price versus performance- this thing destroys the GTX 268/280. Can SLI these with a good 550W power supply. Temperatures rarely exceed 65C (full load) and external exhaust keeps internal temps lower. The fan is quiet up to 55% activity.

Cons: Card can play most games on high settings plus 2xAA at 1280x1024 and never hiccup, but 19x12 resolutions with higher settings begin to drop framerates. Not the best card for overclockers.

Other Thoughts: Get EVGA Precision utility for painless overclocking and fan control. SLI outperforms the 9800gx2 in some instances.

Rating + 5 Great card from a great company

Pros: Great card that does everything its suppose too. I am just now buying a second card to run SLI mode. I paid $319 for the first one, now only $169 after rebate. I waited just for this reason since I did not need the extra power when I built my rig in March. System specs - EVGA 780i mobo, Intel q6600 quad core cpu, 4 Gigs OCZ SLI ready RAM, 2- EVGA 8800GTS,

Cons: none

Pros: Nothing it cant handle. Not hot in my antac 900. Priced right for SLI.

Cons: Bought it two weeks ago, price dropped 30.00. No worries, buying another one at the end of the week to run SLI. Age of Conan will be dominated.

Other Thoughts: Antac 900, q6600 quad core, Evga MB780i, 4mb ocz ram, 700watt ocz PSU, Klipch 200 watt 2.1 speakers. 22in LG LCD, logitec g15.

Pros: Smooth fast rate with PCI Express 16x 2.0, beautiful appearance, huge card. I got my PC about 2 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier about this card. After putting in and peeling off that thin plastic cover, I nearly shed a tear from this beauty!

Cons: None, just a great card.

Other Thoughts: Probably want a full ATX case for this thing considering it's size. Below my 16x 2.0 slot it covered up the normal 16, but I don't mind, I have 2 more.

Pros: This card owns anything you give it on max and laughs at it, going from a nvidia 256 mb geforce 6 series this is amazing. EVGA is helpful

Cons: this card is large, gets extremely hot very fast, and is very picky about how to put install, tried 3-4 times before it worked. I had to buy a vga cooler for this

Other Thoughts: No card idle 34c load 45c
card only idle 35c load 54c
card and cooler idle 33c load 44c

Rating + 4 Where is the Overclock?

Pros: Great Card, good price, especially with the Newegg rebate

Cons: By purchasing this card I thought I would get 670Mhz Clock and 1940Mhz factory overclock out-of-the-box.
Instead I got a normal stock clock and I am forced to overclock it with third party applications.

Why is that EVGA? I paid extra for the OC and I should have it out of the box!!

Pros: Bought this primarly for TF2, runs with all graphics settings maxed out at 1920 X 1200 with no slowdowns even in large battles. (3.0 Ghz E8400, 4GB DDR2, EVGA 780i mobo, Vista 32bit) Great value.

Cons: None that I can see so far, we'll see how it stands up to more intensive games.

Cons: Atitool finds artifacts after 2 seconds, came underclocked, Battlefield2142 only runs at 30fps avg. Have new drivers, fan speed it turned up from stock, Mobo has 16x pci-e slot. Getting no support from EVGA. Wishing i bought a 4870 at this point.

Pros: i originally had two 7800gt running sli. my frame rates on bf2142 are now 20% higher with one 8800gts, so i ordered another. also ordered larger mobo.

Cons: these suckers are huge . if you have a pci sound card. you may need a pci-e sound card to fit it in. but then again on board sound might not be bad considering.
need bigger mobos.

Other Thoughts: they seem to run cooler than my 7800gt's

Pros: I really like this GPU I can mostly dish out any of my current games (COD4) with max graphics and not have to worry about glitching around. Very easy to install. Rather big but thats how most cards are these days.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I hope this mail in rebate goes through because I will be very angry if it doesn't.

Rating + 5 Good choice

Pros: For under couple hundred bux I was able to get the card that plays everything on my 22" native resolution 1680x1050 including Crysis. Now, Crysis we all know is very high maintenance game - requires great SLi setup to play it smooth. I am getting about 35-40fps with HIGH settings and its good. Looks good, plays good. Now, the rest of the games are just off the hook :) everything maxed out play under Vista like a charm. Too bad I dont have SLi mobo to get another one. Temps are 46C idle - never over 64C under full load (Crysis for 4 hours).

Cons: Temperatures wise: the card has good cooling plus riva tuner and you got everything ok. Factory clock was not 670MHz but 650MHz but no biggie.

Other Thoughts: Q6600 (stock), 3GB DDR2, 8800GTS G92, 550W (40amps total).

Rating + 5 Yep

Pros: This card rocks! It is all everyone says and more. After downloading the EVGA Precision tool, overclocking and monitoring the card is extremely simple. I bought a new card because I had tried to play Assassin's Creed with my old card (GeForce 6800) and had to turn the resolution down to 800x600 to stop the twitchiness. Now I can run it at 1920x1200 with all display levels maxed.

Cons: Like others have said, it's not overclocked to 670, rather it's 650, but that's easily taken care of.

Other Thoughts: good stuff

Rating + 4 Too Loud!!!

Pros: It's definitely fast. There's no arguing about the performance. For gaming, this thing is good to go...however...

Cons: Surprisingly loud fan. I intentionally built a nice quiet system, and I succeeded, until I installed this hurricane. It is as loud as someone standing next to you talking. Hard to give a good example, but plan on it being louder then you expected.

Other Thoughts: Would I buy it again, probably not. I would rather sacrifice some performance for a quite machine....or spend a little more on a quieter card.

Pros: It works allright. 60 FPS in all my games except Mass Effect 45 avg, Crysis 25 FPS, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 @ 31 FPS, and World in Conflict 37 FPS rest of the games I have runs @ 60 including Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Unreal Tounrament 3 and Call of Duty. BTW Gunz the Duel @ 600-1050 FPS (good First Person Shooter but with a unique style blend in it.)

Cons: For 210 bucks you can get the new 9800 GTX (G92) which is no doubt better.

Other Thoughts: Downgraded from a GTX 280 (Return because it reached max temp of 114C monitored by riva tuner.) But for the 20 min it didn't shut down on me the GTX 280 was a beast, it's like driving a ferrari for 20 min then trade it back for a lexus, decent but the feelings not the same.

Pros: Price/performance ratio couldn't be mated when I bought it.

Cons: Low default fan speed rendering the card very hot. nTune utility can be used to raise the fan speed, but must be reset at every reboot.

Other Thoughts: The recent introduction of the 200 Series made this card now 2 generations old, but if you're looking to get something until you can afford one, this is hard to beat.

Cons: the new gtx280 not really a big upgrade at this time

Other Thoughts: evga 790i, intel 8400, ocz 1600Mhz Platinum, Pc Power & cooing, 2 WD Raptor 740g Raid0, what more can you ask with 2 of these babies, it will hold me off for another year or two

Pros: Destroys pretty much any game, blows fan out of the case, looks pretty cool

Cons: My only complaint is default the fan settings, my card idled at 60-64c when I first got it because the fan was going incredibly slow (27%?). Customized a fan profile and now it idles at 50c @55% fan speed, doesn't break 65c under load anymore.

Other Thoughts: Great card, Make sure your case has space, this thing is extremely large.
