Great DX9/10 Video Card!
Pros: -HIS ICEQ cooling -AMD/ATi HD 48xx Series (800 stream processors) -1GB GDDR3 -Hasn't died on me yet!
Cons: -GDDR3 memory vs GDDR5 on 4870 and 4890 -Slower clockspeeds when compared to 4870 and 4890 (4850 @ 625/[993x2]) -Formerly a mid-range product, the 4850 is now supremely outdone by the 58xx DX11 cards!
Other Thoughts: This card never exceeds 63 C while under load; most video cards I have previously owned have either been fried or simply prone to overheating problems. The HIS is still going strong after 9 months in my non air-conditioned california room! This is a solid video card that can play most all DX9/10 games with ease at reasonable settings, provided it is paired with a decently clocked multicore processor. COH @ 1440 x 900 on highest settings avg ~75-100 fps. GTA IV runs @ 1440 x 900 on high settings avg ~48 fps. GRiD @ avg ~75 fps. Playable! NOTE: Please do not blame video card for non video card related problems.
My Build: *Phenom II X3 720 BE ( 4 core unlock, OC'd to 3.0GHz, @1.35v) *AMD 780G Chipset *4GB DDR3 1333 (9-9-9-24) *Windows XP Pro x86 SP3 / Windows Vista Business x86 SP2 / Windows Web Server 2008 x86-64 SP2 / Windows 7 Pro x86-64 (multi-boot) *550W Power Supply

Very nice card
Pros: Performance is great, can play ALL games (even Crysis and games like it on moderate settings with decent frame rates). I must say this card would suit anyone since the naked eye cannot see anything past 35fps, this card runs cool IN THE RIGHT CASE. Switched to an Antec 900 and noticed a significant temp drop.
Cons: Very long, requires 6pin power connector (although not really a con).
Other Thoughts: Phenom 9850, 2x2gig Gskill ram, WD Caviar Black 1TB HD, 4850 1GB HIS, Gigabyte 770 mb, OCZ 700watt 4 12v rails, Fatal1y Xi Fi sound card.

Nice Card
Pros: 1GB of memory makes for a forward looking card at the upper mid-range level. The Catalyst Control Center software provided by ATI offers an easy tweaking solution. The cooling system is well thought out and seems to do its job.
Cons: I mostly play WOW and I can't say as I'm seeing that much of an improvement over my previous card in my old build, but then again WOW isn't really a high end graphics kind of game so the comparison may be somewhat moot. Maybe I'll be expanding my gaming repertoire--I suspect my spouse would call that a con.
Other Thoughts: I haven't tried any serious video editing yet with this card installed, but maybe I'll do an update once I get around to that.

What more could you ask for
Pros: built this system for my Church to use when working with photos\slide shows and videos ~ And for editing and burning copy's of Chruch plays and other project the Church is involved in ~
The one gig of memory help out with the video editing software ~ Very quiet and love the fan pushing the air out the back of the case ~
Cons: There are none ~
It wasn't free ~
Thanks Newegg ~
Was the best price on the internet at the time I bought it ~

Piece of Art
Pros: This card is what it is. As a change, what I would like to point out is that the card (and the packaging that comes with it) is just BEAUTIFUL. They are a piece of art. You can tell how much HIS paid attention to detail. Besides, the build quality of the card is just unbelievable. There is real nice screwdriver in the box as well.
Cons: None

Great!
Pros: Displays in my screen at 1920x1080 natively as well as games.
Cons: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare lags for about 2-5 secs sometimes with all settings maxed... lowering a few settings should fix that issue. Stormrise plays well with all maxed out. Guild Wars has 2 second lag at times with all maxed out with 60FPS.
Other Thoughts: My specs...

Eggcellent video card
Pros: Great cooling, fast card, can overclock a lil bit to squeeze out some more performance got mine set at 690 gpu and 1148 memory :)
Cons: Didn't come with a second card so I could X-fire
Other Thoughts: the card is a lil long and might hinder use of some sata ports.

This is a great card
Pros: It runs quiet and cool. That's the best part, other than the fact that I went from an EVGA 8600gt to this. BIG DIFFERENCE!!! Runs Crysis on all high settings @ 1024x768 at around 30fps with no hiccups. And with only one card! I plan on buying another and putting them into crossfire.
Cons: none what-so-ever
Other Thoughts: I used to be biased towards Nvidia, well NO LONGER. -Raidmax Aztec -Rosewill 600w PSU -Phenom II @ 3.6GHz -Abit AN-M2 HD (limited edition)--discontinued -2GB OCZ Ram -HIS IceQ4 Radeon 4850

Excellent card
Pros: For the money you can not go wrong. Card runs cool and quiet. In my opinion the IceQ4 is the best GPU cooler out there. Fan @ 50% - high 30 °C idle. When I game, I bump the fan to 60%. And from what I've seen in the month I've had it, this is the sweet spot. Mid to high 50 °C. It's never broke 60 °C I use Riva Tuner for fan speed control and to monitor temps. This is an invaluable tool that should be utilized by all ATI owners.
Cons: None what so ever.

painless and fast
Pros: Painless install. Recognized my pre-installed Radeon drivers and was running with only one reboot.
Cool cucumber. Running stock, GPU's are at 53 degrees celsius and the fans are whisper quiet.
Cons: Huuuuuge. These cards are massive. Make sure you've got lots of space to play with. It was a challenge to keep all of my SATA cables plugged in once I had the cards seated.
Other Thoughts: These cards were purchased to replace my aging Radeon X1900XTX that I bought a couple years back for $500. The X1900 ran extremely hot and tended to get unstable at high framerates.
These cards running in Crossfire mode are rock-solid stable, cool and quiet - and together they cost less than half what I paid for my X1900. Bravo!
Note to anyone thinking of running Crossfire - these cards require a dedicated power feed from your power supply. If you're going to foot the cash to run Crossfire, make sure you get a Crossfire-approved power supply. You won't regret it.

Great Card!
Pros: Man, this card has dealt with every game I have thrown at it! Crysis running @ 1280x1024, high detail hits around 30FPS. Fallout 3 runs with modded HR textures at a comfortable level. STALKER, COD4...nothing has failed to impress with the highest settings enabled. Maybe this card might show some faults at higher resolutions, but until I get a new monitor it's definitely not bothering me! Also, it runs much cooler than many HD4850 cards I've seen, thanks to the nice HIS IceQ4 cooler. Mine averages about 55C Idle, and around 65C under load. The extra RAM on the board might not seem very necessary, but with higher texture games like GTA4 it shows it's muscle. Great Value, Great GPU!
Cons: None, worked straight out of the box with a new mobo and CPU, new ram. Installed XP and it was up and running in about an hour with stable drivers.
Other Thoughts: My specs are... Retail Phenom II 550 BE ASUS M4A78+ Motherboard 2x2GB OCZ SLi-ready 800mhz RAM HIS Radeon 4850 1GB 585wt Generic PSU Seagate 160GB IDE HD Proview 19" LCD monitor

Awsome
Pros: Fast, Easy overclock, Cool running and looks really good. Almost all games maxed with great frame rates.
Cons: Kinda annoyed with newegg shipping. 3 days guaranteed turned into 6 and the video card box was on top of the paper inside te shipping box. The box was beaten up pretty bad for the ups guys playing football with it..
Other Thoughts: Bought tis card for an htpc/light gamer but wanted it to keep up with future tittles. It runs beautifully on a 62in 1080p tv without a hiccup. As long as it doesn't break i will be very happy. good job HIS

ehh...
Pros: over all i have watched youtube vids on this card and id have to say its solid running card for the price its amazeing and i would reccomend it..
Cons: this on the other hand is a fair warning to thos looking to buy a first build card STAY AWAY FROM THIS CARD if your building a new comp with no onboard graphics because this will be hell for u if u do i should know as i cant use my new computer because there was no fair warning so for your own sake stay away for first builds.
Other Thoughts: dident realy get much from customer service other then from new egg i thought it was doa at first but it turned out not to be this is an upgrader card not for new computers as i said b4.. but over all i love the card for its proformance for the amount of money u spend on it its the best.

Bang! Bang! $
Pros: This card exceeded my expectations, For example It can run Crysis,FarCry2,Fallout3, on 1900 x 1200 on high settings with AA and AF averaging 30 fps depending on the level.Came with stalker clear sky and ran the game high settings with DX10 enhancements. The cooler is outstanding it idles 33c and 54c load roughly in my CM Scout case.
Cons: None for me
Other Thoughts: This card coupled with its cooling design shows you dont need to pay a ridiculous amount of money for performance.Definitely a bang for your buck card and the bundle it comes with is fantastic.Going to get another soon for Xfire!

His makes good cards
Pros: Better than sapphire. HIS technology actually provides stable video cards. By far the best merchant video card I've ever gotten. This card can take pretty much what ever I throw at it.
It also runs pretty cool. 40c on idle. 46c on load.
Cons: None. This card is worth it. Had it for a month now, and it hasn't failed me yet.
Other Thoughts: GET IT!

Nice!
Pros: Works WAY faster than an 6800GS :) Easy to OC, stays cool and quiet (most of the time). Never hits above the 70c temps, even OC'd to 680/1180.
Cons: On 100% fan cycle, it's louder than I thought it would be. (see Other thoughts)
Other Thoughts: Running the normal dynamic fan state, this thing is QUIET. Using ATI's CCC, you can change the duty cycle on the fan to 100%, and that's loud. However, I have yet to even approach 100% cycle normally, even gaming.

Nice card
Pros: Very pleased with the card. I purchased this to put into a box for the kids. Was a little concerned about the size of the card (based on reviews) however with a little rewiring and the relocation of a hard drive I squeezed this puppy into a micro-atx case. However, I would not recommend trying this as it barely fit.
Card has run good since install and has played any games I've thrown at it so far. Now I'm not saying this is the top-of-the-line card, but if you want to save some money this is a nice card for the price. The free Stalker "Clear Sky" game has been working fine for me as well; only mentioning because some people claimed to have many problems with the game.
I also want to say that this card is quiet too. I mean really quiet. I wasn't sure it was working at first because my old card was so loud when it kicked in. Come to think of it my 4870x2 card in my gaming rig isn't so quiet either so this was a nice bonus.
Cons: None to speak of yet
Other Thoughts: Newegg rocks my skittles (period)

HIS 4850 in Dell XPS410
Pros: Upgraded from eVGA 8800GTS 640MB. Very very good card for the money. I bought my card maybe 30 minutes after newegg lowered the price on these cards. CS:S test went from 220fps to 250fps. 3DMark03 went from 34000 to 45000. Very good increase from 8800GTS which was already a great card. This cooling design is also great. Idles around 48* and never seen it go above 70. Doesnt draw lot of power.
Cons: None. Very happy.
Other Thoughts: My computer is from Dell. Dell XPS410 comes with stock 375watt PSU and 4850card is running great in it. No problem@!

AMAZING!!!!
Pros: Best price vs. performance I've seen. Runs WOW at 1680x1050 sliders maxed (except 1 notch down for shadows) 25fps in Dalaran and over 50 everywhere else, Crysis same resolution almost maxed with AA and get 20-30fps, and Stalker maxed with 2xAA 30-42fps. This thing is definitely overclocking freindly. Got it up to 700 core and 2150 memory. Impressive
Cons: Nothing! Zip!
Other Thoughts: HIS makes a wonderful card that can take it. The cooler is amazing as well. VERY silent and runs cool. With the overclock it runs max 65 degrees at full load with fan set to 60% after an hour of Crysis. I had the 4870 XOC made by Diamond which was also a great card but for power consumption reasons I got this one to replace and I am not disappointed. It will definitely hold me till the next generation of Radeon.

Can't wait!!
Pros: Just ordered! I'm so excited I'm bout to pee! Too bad I'm broke or else I would've got the 4890, and added an aftermarket cooler....Thermaltake CL-G0102 probly, but I'm poor so I must settle with this. The ultimate "mid-range" card.
Cons: The following is a response to blackett's review. He says that the 512mb version is a better performing card... Let me say why I disagree. The extra memory is for HIGH resolutions, and IS better than the 512mb in 1680x1050 and above. Also, when future games come out they will be designed to utilize the entire 1gb because it is becoming more and more standard. Therefore, 1gb over 512mb for resolution and longevity. Besides... it's only $20 more! c'mon!
Other Thoughts: Great card. My friend has this exact one, and it seems worth every penny. I guess I'm bout to find out! Anyway, HIS all the way... they always include little extras... screwdriver/flashlight/level and a free game! What more do you people want!? Hurry up and buy one!!!!!

Wonderful Hardware
Pros: Great graphics card all around. Huge Heat sink with adjustable fan speed.
Cons: Make sure you can fit a shoebox in your case for a quick space check.
The software is a bit cheap, but it gets the job done.
A little surprised that the software clock limit is so low...
Other Thoughts: Despite the huge size, this is an excellent video card, I'm very satisfied.

Perfect for stream computing
Pros: This is the card to get for GPGPU computing. You'll appreciate the quiet cooling solution if you have a workstation sitting on your desk. It has the same R770 chip (800 stream processors) as the 4870 but runs cooler. The card looks good enough to eat, with the blue flame sticker and copper heatpipes. The gold connectors and black PCI bracket complement my case and DVI cable (ABS Canyon 695) for those into the aesthetics of system building.
Cons: I would have appreciated a version of the ATI Stream SDK to ship with the Catalyst driver, including Brook+ and CAL, though they would quickly become outdated anyway.
Other Thoughts: The included "goodie", a combination flashlight, level, and screwdriver, was surprisingly quite useful. The light was perfect for working in cramped quarters in a new chassis, especially for cable management.

Think twice
Pros: very good card, quiet, fan stays off on idle mostly. plays devil may cry.
Cons: the iceq4 turbox with 512 ram is a better performing card, almost the same price. devil may cry 4 lags itermittently at 650 gpu, and video corruption higher. I rma'd, got turbox.
Other Thoughts: this is not so much for gaming, but ideal for lower power usage,
dell xps 630i, q9550, corsair ddr2 1066, 1tb hitachi,

Pros: Great card, plays all the latest games and supports crossfire
Cons: None so far.

Great Video Card
Pros: This card, all by itself,( not crossfired) can turn out some High frame rates even with games tuned to the max.
I used Far Cry 2 benchmark tool and with all options on max except for AA set at 4x instead of 8x and set at 1600 x 1200 churns out an average of 52 f/s on a 3 runs at the medium level size. ( ran on 3ghz core 2 duo with 8gb of ram & 2tb sata drive)
The 1gb of ram really helps out on high mb textured games like Crysis, Farcry 2, HL 2.. etx.
The IceQ4 cooling setup is sweet helps keep my beast cool. Choosine to Keep the memory and GPU cooling plates separate is smart as well.
Hey and it comes with a free $50 game! much better than a $5 flash game.
Cons: If you are not doing 3d animation, video editing, or High end PC gaming then you will probably not notice any gain in having the 1gb version versus the 512mb. And in some cases you may notice the 512mb to be a bit faster due to the slightly lower mhz between the two.
Other Thoughts: I cant imagine how awesome this will be once I save up for another one and new Crossfire mother board.
This is the card to buy at this time, unless you have so much money you don't know what to do with, then go for the newest HIS card with the gddr5 (4000mhz!!!). Otherwise its a waste of money for the small gain. The memory speed may be 4 times as fast but all of that will still bottleneck at the gpu. I'd wait for the next couple generations when the get the GPU to a comparable match

Reliable, powerful, cool.
Pros: Looks great, performs very well, and stays cool. I haven't had one problem with this card so far. Does everything I want and more, without giving me any grief. My 500w PSU handles this thing no problem.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: System: AMD Phenom x4 2.4 MSI K9A2 CF WD Caviar 640GB 4GB 1066 DDR2 Corsair 500w PSU

Powerhouse graphics!
Pros: Bought this component on my new rig because I wanted a 4850 without having to be under the thumb of Saphire with thier manufacturer specific drivers. I play WoW religiously, and with all graphics set to highest setting, this card runs it without even the slightest hiccup.
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Good component for the price.

AWESOME CARD!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: Awesome looking card. not too bad on power consumtion. Beautiful graphics! Better than my onboard hd3300 128sideport. lol

In Love
Pros: I bought 2 of these cards for Crossfire. The cards simply dominate everything I put them through. From Crysis maxed with AA to severe stress testing in 3DMark06. They stay very cool in my Antec 1200 @ 35C idle and 42C load. They look fantastic with the IceQ4 cooler on them. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: HD4870x2 IceQ4 Turbo - PLEASE HSI.

IT'S DDR!!!
Pros: 4850 so it can run most mid/high range games at full settings and good resolutions... just don't expect WQXGA resolutions... 1080P max in most mid-range games with full settings before starting to lose FPS... 1GB GDDR3 so it can store all that texture data for high resolution textures and displays and anistropic filtering... 512MB can get a bit laggy especially if using Virtual Memory on your harddrive in texture heavy games...
Cons: Not fast enough to tackle the elitist games at max resolutions and highest settings without dropping into the 10-30 FPS range in most of them... but if you're going elitist then you're not even reading this cause you're looking at 4870x2's ;P
Other Thoughts: In responce to the one review claiming the VRAM speed caps at 1200MHz... it's DDR... that's dual channel... and when you ask the system how fast dual channel is it only shows half it's total speed because they combine both channels for the total memory speed (selling point) that's true for all DDR VRAM... albeit the GDDR5 on the 4870s is being measured in quarters which puzzles me to some extent... in any case that 1200MHz means an effective TOTAL speed of 2.4Ghz... Keep that negative review Newegg... wish it wouldn't unbalance the average rating but the comment has become another selling point combined with this review... means more sales ;P

Pros: Good card. Very quiet. Can't even hear the fan running. Like the dedicated expansion slot vent.

Cons: ok well lets see..first when i got it..after i installed everything..the vram clock isnt what it says it is..even overclocked u cant make it go to 1200mhz... ok and its even slower then the 3870 512mb...yea..this card is not any good to me..now..it wont even boot up anymore..i think its faulty
Other Thoughts: psh..by the time u buy this u could get a 4870 which is way better...this card is not a good card sorry

NICE PRODUCT!!
Pros: BIG, but it is ok with motherboard Intel D975XBX2. Do not need to spend money on additional adapters such as power and DVI... I am using monitor SyncMaster226bw, so it works perfect. I would definately recommend you to buy this card. I did not find anything to mark down on quality review except of its demention. I had to move around my HDD to connect the power. I still cannot understand why they made power supply right on that corner, it is big by itself.... Can't they just put it on the top or something.
Cons: NONE

Nice Card.
Pros: This card has all of the exact settings as the HD4850 from sapphire, which is now discontinued, i bought the sapphire edition back in September and when i first got it it played crysis on all very high with 8xaa and no lag at all!!!!
With that card being able to do all that and this card having the same specs i have no doubt this card can do it too!
I got no doubt the Sapphie edition would be able to play crysis with them settings now, except for the fact it runs at 100c @ full load.
This card has the HIS Iceq cooler technology, from the way i see it if you want a non-expensive card thatll play all todays game AND last, GET THIS ONE!
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: I have not purchased the card, im searching for a new one to buy and im leaning to get 2 of these and X-fire them.

Awesome Cooling
Pros: Its an HD 4850 so i don't need to give you FPS on any games you can find reviews and test all over the web, its a great card. The cooling system on this card it amazing. I built my new machine for F@H so i leave it running. CCC shows the GPU @ 94-97% activity all the time. And the temp has never been above 52 most of the time right about 46 or 47. Also the GPU is OC'ed to 680Mhz.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Your card might run at a diff temp so here are the parts of my system that could mater in the temp.
Chassis: Xclio A380 CPU: PhenomX4 9950BE OC'ed to 3.0 CPU cooler: Thermaltake Duorb

Good card but...
Pros: Good looking, Low temperature
Cons: Installing is a real pain. The cards have an issue with some DVI monitors...mine included... and it is fairly large making it hard to cable in a mid tower case.
Other Thoughts: If you buy this card be prepared that it may hate your monitor.

quick review
Pros: As with other reviewers this thing overclocks great and is very quiet. Temps are pretty low and fan hardly goes above 25 percent even under load.
Cons: runs wow @ 50 fps with settings maxed out. still very playable.

Great Buy
Pros: Great gpu, runs cooler than stock, 1gig of memory. I have had great experiences with HIS cards. Overclocked both to 675mhz gpu and 1100mhz for video memory. Much shorter than i expected... no problem fitting in my mid atx.
Cons: Only gddr3, but i knew this. Clocks are set outrageously slow, but a pushed them a little higher. Runs a little warm for my liking (about 65-70 C under load), but my case is a little cramped (mid atx with 2 120mm fans). Clocks are actually lower than the 4670. Kind of expensive, especially since the 512mb versions of the card are about $50-70 less... but i wanted the full gig for my 1920x1200 gaming. If your only gonna play this on a 22 inch monitor, get the 512mb version.
Other Thoughts: AMD Athlon Black Edition 6400+ (3.2ghz), 4 gigs OCZ ddr2 800, 400 gig seagate barracuda, 2 4850s in crossfire, blu-ray, and 24" accer p241w
I have a 580x chipset (ASUS M2R32MVP), which only supports pci x16 1.1, but is still get great frame rates. The 2.0 factor (i tried the same config on an a friend's MSIK9A2) doesn't net more than an extra 8 or so frame rates in most games.
Don't get the oc'd version of this card... its the same as this one, just overclocked. Overclock it yourself if you feel the need... its not that hard.

Great card!
Pros: With CCC 8.10 can overclock to 690/1168 using auto tune. I am going to try riva to see where that gets it to. With OC this thing idles at 42c and under load at 58c with auto fan settings not getting above 20% speed. Drop dead quite. Can't wait to get 2nd on X fire!!
Cons: None!
Other Thoughts: At these settings it should be called a 4865! I was looking at the 4850 Turbo X card but glad I took this one. It is nice to have the factory do the overclock, but why pay someone for it when it is so easy to do on your own.

Excellent budget card
Pros: Overclocks out of the box to 690/1188 with CCC. Even oc'd it idle's at 49C and load at 65C. With this configuration, its close to par with 4870 performance with minimal hassle. The fan is quiet even under load. Comes with a 4bit screwdriver, level and led light tool. Well designed heating solution at a great price (can be found for around 160$ if you're creative.)
Cons: No native displayport. Software is lacking as with most mid-level cards. Would have been nice to get some extra value with games and/or gfx software. Still can't play Witcher at 1600x1200 at max settings.
Other Thoughts: This is an excellent card. 1GB ram and the heatsink make it the best value of the 4850's out there.

No driver problems here
Pros: Installed good from the start from the CD (8.6) version. Good sharp graphics, no crashes, Fast, 1GB mem. Been running around 52C idol and low 60's C loaded. Does +100fps while playing WOW. overclocks faily well to 675 mhz stable.
Cons: none really yet. Can't overclock to 700 mhz without getting some artifacts accuring.
Other Thoughts: Started up just fine on on computers first flash (Asus Rampage Formula). Installed drivers from cd and everthing been fine since. Getting over 12000 3dmark6 scores with my Asus Rampage formula E8600 3.3mhz and 4 GB ram with just 1 VGA card at 675 mhz now. Can't wait to try another in crossfire

Excellent video card
Pros: This is an excellent VGA card with an effective and quiet cooling solution. I downloaded the most current driver from ATI's support site, installed the card, installed the driver, and was up and running in under five minutes. Flawless.
This card replaced a Sapphire X1950 Pro, and it was a worthwhile upgrade.
Cons: None really.
The sticker on the outside of the heatsink housing was annoying, so I took it off with some Goo-Gone and a soft rag.
No biggie.

Bad driver compatability maybe?
Pros: For the price its alot for the buck for sure, and this model has much improved on the previous ones with the new cooling sys.
Cons: Can not get the darn thing to work. I have an ASUS m3e32-mvp delux and run xp32 on a AMD quad 2.5 black. Without the included drivers the card runs on minimum avg drivers, but as soon as i load the drivers for the card i am thrown into a never-ending reboot. ASUS bios has been updated, along wiht everything else i can think of, and still i cant use the card. this has happened for 4 days now....about to give up =(
Other Thoughts: HIS DLs are so slow its like watching grass grow if your lucky enuff to get the latest drivers without them being totally corrupted. And, i hope you dont ever need any suport from them, as they are in HONG KONG and the support is only email =( Maybe if i could talk to a live person i could resolve this, maybe not?
Manufacturer Response:Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with HIS product. Live tech support is available during PST business hours at (408) 331-8847. Please get in touch with one of the agents and they will walk you through some steps to ensure you get your HIS card working.
