Tech Level: somewhat high
Ownership: more than 1 year

Rating + 5 Very nice

Pros: Has worked flawlessly with my unit for more then a year. Love the cable management! Very easy to use ONLY what cables are needed! I can not hear my fan! The only way I know it's working is to hold my hand at the outlet. (Bottom mounted in the case, so does not 'breath' case air)

Cons: NONE!! (8 pin 12V plug would be nice, BUT most decent MB with the 8 pin will work fine with a 4 pin! (as with my GA-MA790XT UD4P) Using a 4 to 8 pin adapter does nothing, unless the MB REQUIRES a 8 pin, so NOT a con!

Other Thoughts: The ONLY reason I am replacing it is because I have upgraded my MB, CPU, and memory, and although this is still operating it, may not have the power when I OC with 4 cores. Ordered it's 'big brother', 750W.

Pros: Modular and wrapped cables.
Worked great with no issues, while it worked.

Cons: Ordered this 05-09 and it lasted until 10-09. After testing components an another rig I was able figure out that the PSU was the biggest problem. On the back it has an LED that would be red when plugged in but not switched on, and green when running fine. Now it's yellow and the manual makes no mention of the led at all. Not to mention the lack of powering its own cooling fan.

Other Thoughts: RMA issues aside (My fault as I left the box on the floor and we took flood damage), the short life and unhelpful "Indicator light" have drop this down to 3 eggs.
Does anyone have experience with this same problem?

Pros: modular

Cons: not 80+. only 33A on the +12V rails is soft.
price
there are lots of better psu's than this for the money. there are 500W psu's with 40+ amps on the 12V rails. with the new nvidia cards requiring 36amp minimum this psu is just falling short

Rating + 5 Good Quality Modular PSU

Pros: Quality construction (heavy), BIG 140mm fan, modular cable design helps eliminate big mess of unused connectors thus improving air flow in smaller cases, 5 year warranty.

Cons: Not silent, not 80 plus certified, rated amperage on 12 volt rails at bit low for a 500 watt PSU.

Other Thoughts: I really like this power supply. It has a cool finish and is very heavy which is a sign of quality. In my Coolermaster Elite 360 HTPC case, I can hear the movement of air caused by the big fan more than my 80mm and 2 120mm case fans. Perhaps it is due to the design of the vent hole area of my case above where fan is located causing the bit of "wooshing" sound I am hearing. The 12 volt rails are rated at 16 and 17 amps which I believe are a tad low for this wattage of PSU. My cheaper Coolermaster 500 watt PSU was rated at 18 amps for each of its 2 rails but I'm just being picky here. There have been no issues with this PSU so far.

Pros: nice modular easy to install as with the others i kinda got mad that it doesnt have the 8 pin for motherboards .kinda sucks its made for sli but they left out a important plug .

Cons: had a prob about two months in where i have to hold the power button in fow a few seconds to get it tlo stay running .if i release before power kicks on then kicks off then back on itll just die .mobo is xfx 680 ilt they say its sounds liek power supply.

Other Thoughts: ill be testing with another motherboard thats brand new so if it does it again i know its the powersupply ..hope there guaranties are up to par and they dont give me ahard time.

Rating + 5 No problems - Quiet PSU

Pros: Solid construction, works great. Very quiet. No problems so far. Rebate received in about 8 weeks.

Cons: Had to order the APEVIA 4 Pin to 8 Pin Converter Cable to work with Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R Mobo.

Other Thoughts: (Like others have noted) YES, having only a 4 pin power cable is not REALLY a "CON" - but it does add a little additional cost to some builds. Some PSUs have an 8 pin for the mobo 12V - just pay attention to the specs and make sure you either have a 4 pin on the mobo or get the adapter. Mailed the $50 rebate on 12/15/08 and received the check on 2/10/09. Net cost was $35 - so I am happy.

Rating + 5 Great PSU

Pros: Great product, havn't had an issue, I bought it b/c I thought my old PSU was dead (New MB, Proc, MEM and HD), when I installed it, I was having the same issue (pc would just fan everything up but wouldn't POST), as it turns out I had a crapola Airlink PCI WIFI card that was not allowing it to POST. Got it for 29.99 at TT's site. Great product!

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: Seems as thought ppl are complaining about the fan on the PSU, I hear a noise but it's my GPU's fan that's causing the reckus (maybe that's why I can't hear it)

Pros: i upgraded from a little 250 watt. 3* the power! modular, and the fan is ok. like avalibilty of cords and there wraped nicely. powers my agp sapphire card. ok looking.you get a case sticker:) i have a 3200+ overclocked athalon xp. has a 20 pin power conecter.it was cool that you can remove 4 pins from the 24 pin power connecter to make a 20 pin. it is amazing it can play cod4 on high setting with my old pc!

Cons: big fan-dosent blow good,pc gets hot.dont worry though fan speeds up and everything is ok. BIG, HAD TO PRY OFF A CLIP TO GET IT TO FIT. cables are stiff

Other Thoughts: must buy! unless u need more power!

Rating + 5 Thermaltake TR2 RX W0134RU

Pros: 5 year warranty. Draws 2 watts when computer is 'off' vs 4 watts that the $23 supply consumed. Bought it with a $50 rebate (December 1) and free shipping. Enough connectors and the wires are neither skimpy or short. Modular, if you like that.

Cons: Power Factor is only .62. I thought it might be higher. The el-cheapo supply it replaced had the same power factor. It's only slightly more efficient than the el-cheapo too.

Other Thoughts: I used this in a build for a gift after I thought about the el-cheapo supply I had originally put in there. If this thing lasts 5 years, then it's worth it, but I would still look to get a deal on it. The max load for my system is around 135W, so this does not make noise. It runs an EVGA 8600GTS which for some reason says on the box that they want 26 A.

Rating + 4 Great product, but not silent

Pros: This is an awesome looking PSU and the modular design rocks. It is heavy (the mark of a quality psu), feels solid in your hands. The shrouded cords are a major plus! Pushes A LOT of air. Lower my case temps somewhat (don't expect miracles, but it does work!)

Cons: If you are as much of the silent type as I am, which many of us gamers are nowadays, this is somewhat a disappointingly "half-quiet, half-not" psu. While the 140mm fan does a lot to be able to run slower and cut down on bearing noise, being that it moves so much air, it makes a (very low frequency) whooshing sound of moving air. Now I know this sounds like a "duh" thing, but my former psu was near silent. Regardless I sleep lightly and I can sleep with it 6 feet away. I am making a mountain out of a mole-hill however. Excellent product, I just expected too much silence

Other Thoughts: In the future I might dremel away the fan grill and replace it with another ? That might help the whoosh situation. If not

Pros: work as expected cable magement is a bless 4 sata on a single cable good spacing between each connector. cables not used you can store them for the future ( scalability guys) and also has a good 120mm fan

Cons: none so far... i doesn't do my laundry and my yard

Other Thoughts: it worked to power 6 hard drives a CD/DVD burner, 512 PCI Express video card and 5 120mm fans with no problem so far i've used termaltake PSU for long time at work and at home none have broke so far

Pros: Very well built, very quiet (I can't even hear the fan, but it moves plenty of air) power supply. I used it to replace my factory 350 watt power supply which was running very very hot. This supply runs very cool even while gaming and really taxing the system. Modular design is very good.

Cons: The cables are a little stiff, but nothing that a little bit of carefull cable routing can't fix.

Other Thoughts: none

Pros: Works - quiet - voltages nearly spot on - semi modular design cuts down on clutter - wrapped wires look good - specs say that the BIG fan cools at 105 cfm!!! alongside cpu running at 82f - so must be doing very good-eh!!

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Would prefer single rail with BIG amps - with rebate is an extremely good deal for this level of quality and performance!!

Rating + 5 super awesome

Pros: Had a $30 mail in rebate with it! got this bad boy for only $50. after i smelled a funny burning from my tower from my old PSU =P The modular system with braided cables is really convenient, and have a good length. Not too loud. 140mm fan.
a Thermaltake....

Cons: the main power connectors are not modular, but this is not a big deal since you need them anyway....

Other Thoughts: at $49 ($30 mail in rebate) this was an awesome deal. at 550W it has enough power for my 4gigs of ram, 5000+, 8800GT, 2 DVDs, 2 @ 7400RPM HDD, and case lights!

Pros: Quality construction typical of TT - have used 100+ at work (3 models over 6 mo.) with no problems surfacing yet.

The modular cables avoid having to tuck or bundle the excess.

Cons: If you're building a SATA-heavy unit, notice that this supply only comes with one modular cable that has any SATA power connectors (there are four on the one cable).

The silica gel pack was bound too tight and ripped open in transit - had to shake the pellets out of the supply before using.

Pros: None

Cons: Will break very easy

Other Thoughts: No customer service. Had a TT power supply and the stickers they put inside the case came lose lodged inside the fan blades not allowing them to turn burned up the unit and the motherboard. Called TT and they gave me the biggest run around on replacement of motherboard. Basically they told me to have manufactor of mb replace it. Why MF replace when it is TT fault it was burned up. Lousy company to do due business with.

Rating + 5 Great PSU!

Pros: Near silent operation. Modular cabling is nice for smaller cases. Plenty of power for most applications except maybe high-end SLI. Power light on back of unit. It makes it easy to tell if you've switched it off before messing around inside the case.

Cons: The cables are kinda stiff and need a little coaxing to get them to bend around corners, but I chalk that up to being new. Other than that, none.

Other Thoughts: It runs my Dell Dimension 5100 with 2 dvd drives, floppy drive, Soundblaster Audigy 4 and 9800gt with no problems and pleny of power to spare. Replaced the stock 305 watt supply when I upgraded to the 9800gt. Wanted to make sure I didn't have any power issues. So far, it's been working like a champ!

Modular cables worked great in this case(mid-tower). Was able to remove the two I didn't need, which freed up space for a little more airflow.

Pros: Easy to install, modular design is excellent, cables are of sufficient length, fan is quiet, power appears reliable.

Rating + 5 Nice Power Supply!

Pros: That big fan pushes a lot of air... and quietly! Enough power for an O/C'ed Q6600, 9800GTX, DVD/RW, 640gbHD, all on an Asus P5QL-E.

Feels Very High Quality.

Cons: I don't really see the point of Modular Cabling when you have to use all the cables anyway, I had one IDE device, and one SATA device, so i had to use both of those, and each one has about 5 plugs on it that you have to deal with. Still better than a traditional one though, by alot!

Other Thoughts: I got 30 dollars off with a combo with 4Gb Gskill ram I don't think i would have paid the 94.99, but 64.99 isn't bad.

Pros: Great quiet power supply. Thermaltake always seems to come through nicely. This power supply fit perfectly in my Thermaltake Soprano case and works like a fox.

Cons: Limited cable connections. This power supply only has four modular cables that can plug into the actual supply (See Pic). You will need an adapter for newer processors that require P8/8-Pin connector. This power supply also only has 2 12v rails.

Other Thoughts: I'd do some more looking if you want a power supply for a newer setup. There are nearly identical Thermaltake PSUs that have 4 12v rails and are P8/8-Pin compatible for just a little more than this bad boy. Check out what kind of connectors you need BEFORE you buy this.

Pros: Great modular cabling. 31 amps on the 12v rail is more than enough for a 8800gts and a q6600 overclocked. The noise is not loud at all, and the 14cm fan is really sucking a lot of air out.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I guess the two negative reviews scared some people away, but it has been very reliable for me

Rating + 3 OK till your fan goes!

Pros: Provides stable voltages off the 12 and comes with a very (not even exaggerated) thick power cable.. at least 3/4"!

Cons: I had this for a month before I also started getting "weird" annoying noises from the fan. It sounds like a light clicking noise, almost as if a wire was hitting the fan. About 2 weeks after that, the fan completely died out - the PSU auto-shutoff due to overheating. Luckily, I taped a 120 to the thing and it's still running.

Other Thoughts: Thanks to the amazing team at Newegg, I can order my RMA replacement before I ship this one back, leaving me with a semi-working system till the new PSU arrives. I'll have to say I'm surprised with TT - usually they are a very good company to buy a PSU from.
