Reliable Operation
Pros: Purchased many of these. I've used purchased these for the company I work for and at home. They've never lost a connection. Routinely run 10 foot lead cables from the computer to the hub and then another 10 feet to various devices, and no problems. Even with Web cams, which can be very sensitive to extra cable length and usb hubs.
Ports do provide power for devices.
Cons: They do require external power from a brick. And the hub does get warm, nut no more so than say a wireless hub or a network switch. I've run into cases where I have to restart the computer after removing and reattaching the hub, which I don't normally do unless I'm moving a computer or rerouting wires.
Other Thoughts: There have been several times where I have set-up these hubs for use with 2 web/surveillance cams per hub for weeks at a time completely unattended and has never dropped a camera/connection.

LINKSYS USB2.0 4-Port Hub
Pros: No issues at all. Expected some per reviews with down-stream power. Charges cell phone fine. I've thrown all my peripherals at it (2 scanners, 3 printers, a host of small devices i.e. dig voice recorder, camera, etc.) and have not had any standby or reboot problems. Seems to operate as expected with no 1.1 or 2.0 problems either.
Cons: Rubber feet are a bit cheesy and have come off, but I simply stuffed them back on. No big, I'll glue if necessary. Also unit is light and cables have their way with it. Maybe a little thicker plastic or metal base to add some substance to the unit?
Other Thoughts: I've had good luck based on reviews with Linksys and their WRT54GL router and CM100 cable modem that solved a few years of flakiness with my wireless network and cable service reliability. Rock SOLID now. So I thought I'd try their hub. Complaints of failures might revolve around poor power protection from my experience. Big fan of APC surge products. Most don't consider this an important item in the scheme of things.

3 out of 4 ports gone
Pros: Worked as advertised (for about 18 months). Very satisfied during that time frame.
Cons: After about 18 months, 3 out of 4 ports stopped working, soon after my OS reported a power surge in this devise. Do not know what caused the "power surge". My other peripherals (scanner, printer, etc.) are fine. Power surge warning was a complete surprise and came without warning. One day the 4-port hub is working fine and the next day, only 1 port worked.
Other Thoughts: I am not sure about the "shelf life" of these hubs, but 18 months seems rather short. Was hoping to get a couple more years of service out of this 4-port hub.

Exactly what I needed
Pros: Operates precisely as I expected. I currently own two units and have order two more. Unlike other reviews, my units provide "down-stream" power -- currently charging my Cingular 8525 and have my Iomega minidrive connected (requires USB power). Small footprint. Ability to daisy-chain.
Cons: None that I can tell at this time.
Other Thoughts: Down-stream power may be device-specific.

Pros: Finally replaced my old 1.1 USB hub. I like this as the ports are on the back, out of sight.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Newegg is the best.

XP Pro reports "Power Surge"
Pros: Uses a standard USB A-B cord to connect to PC - cord can be as long or as short as I want which is great for placement.
Cons: I've connected this particular hub to two different PCs running XP Pro. The external power-adapter was plugged in and no other peripherals were on the hub. XP Pro reported the USB Port experienced a "Power Surge" and advised disconnecting the device.
Now, this is one of the more-expensive USB 2.0 Hubs out there and Linksys/Cisco is a well-known, well-advertised, highly-reputable company. It would be rather easy to say very nasty things about this product and/or this company in general, but I decided (instead) to contact their support site for a possible RMA and replacement.
Let's hope the problem is isolated to this one power-adapter/hub and that a replacement will solve the issue. Linksys support will reply to my e-mail request within 24 hours - so says the website.
Hope this helps.
Other Thoughts: It is unfortunate that equipment fails, but it is the nature of the industry. Do try to appreciate the level of Quality-Assurance that all hardware and software go through.

worked for me
Pros: Worked as it should and I needed a powered hub for my laptop.
Cons: Warm booting will freeze with this hub hooked up (I think it's my external harddrive).
Other Thoughts: It's cheap and useful.

A better hub
Pros: A bit more substantial than many other hubs. Devices just work a lot more often. Solid connections. Includes a cable.
Cons: None

Nope
Pros: Turns on. Lights blink.
Cons: Does not work with all USB devices. Will "freeze" with and prevent the computer from booting (intermittently of course) with certain devices it doesn't like (i.e. Treo 700p, APC backup battery).
Other Thoughts: What is with USB hubs? I've never had one that was trouble-free, but this one is by far the worst! Devices will work if plugged in while the computer is running, but lock the hub and stop a boot if plugged in before the computer is turned on? Try again, Linksys.
If you see contradictory reviews, beware - you either get lucky with this hub or you don't. Just because it worked for someone else doesn't mean it will work for you!

Fantastic hub!
Pros: This is a small high-speed USB 2.0 that is flawlessly constructed and made of high quality materials.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: If you need a good USB hub, give this bad boy a shot.

Powered by wall adaptor but not downstream
Pros: ..
Cons: If you look at NewEggs excellent photos you'll note that the LinkSys USB 2.0 Four port Hub is powered by a wall adaptor. Unfortunately, all the power adaptor does is power the internal hub. No extra power is supplied to downstream devices from that Adaptor. So no plugging in your mp3 player and expecting this unit to recharge it.
Other Thoughts: So if you don't need to power downstream devices (lights, fans etc) buy one that doesn't need power supplied from a brick!

TINY
Pros: its great, works like a charm, didn't think it was gonna be that small
Cons: not even one, but it is little
Other Thoughts: its a LINKSYS product, you get quality for what you pay for. This thing is tiny LoL =þ

Perfect USB Hub
Pros: Small, compact design. All devices plugged in (currently using all 4 ports) with no problems at all. Took longer to cold boot than it did for XP to recognize the hub. Setup was way too easy!
Cons: It isn't free.
Other Thoughts: Bonus Pro 1: I have a BCC 888KHACW-B case, and the colors match perfectly - without even trying. Bonus Pro 2: Read some reviews elsewhere that said USB Mice and Keyboards wouldn't work with it. Wrong! Mine work just fine with this thing.
Newegg, once again, delivered. Ordered Monday, here on Wednesday. Thank you Newegg for great service and a great product once again!

Works like a champ
Pros: I've had this for about 3 months and haven't had any problems.
Cons: The unit is very light and it's hard to keep it in place with the cables coming out of the back.
Other Thoughts: I've had other USB2 hubs and they were very flaky, a USB drive plugged into it would disconnect and then reconnect every 30 seconds, but this one has been great, linksys makes a quality product.

Pros: You won't be disapointed. It's Linksys what more can I say?
Cons: Not really a con...But, would like it if the power connection into the back of the unit were straight instead of a 90 degree plug.
Other Thoughts: New Egg's the only way to go!

Linksys Does It Again!
Pros: Excellent piece of hardware! Works every time with no problems. Windows picked it up on the first try and no troubles since. Have run some serious throughput on this hub and the speed is top notch.
Cons: None...
Other Thoughts: More Ports! Maybe one or two in the front would be nice. Hint-Hint Cisco.

LINKSYS USB2HUB4 USB2.0 4-Port Hub - Retail
Pros: Did what it was supposed to. Plugged it in and windows picked it up right away. Not too big, not too small.
Cons: The USB cord from the back of the unit to the USB on the back of my PC is way too short. Only about 12 inches. Had to buy a longer cord to put it were I wanted it.
Other Thoughts: Great little Hub for the money. I will be buying more in the near future!

Nice hub
Pros: Works fine, had it over a year and I haven't had a single problem. I run some intense things through it sometimes and it doesn't sacrifice speed.
Cons: Maybe a BIT bulky for just a 4-port hub, but I don't mind at all. It's not big, but could possibly be smaller. Not a problem.
Other Thoughts: I've been happy with it. My friends have all had hubs that have failed on them. I've had this for over a year and it still works great, no problems, ever. Get it.

Works
Pros: Works as intended. I have 4 devices connected to it, a mix of USB 1 and 2. Its self powered so you don't get any noise on these ports as you would if they were built into the mobo (good for audio devices connected to it like headsets).
Cons: Since its connected to one USB 2.0 port I can't see it working at full speed on all 4 ports simultaneously, but how often does that situation come up.
Other Thoughts: Nice product, would recomment to everyone that needs those extra few ports. Its real nice to not have to disconnect everything all the time just because you want to use it.
