Rating + 5 Its not bad at all

Pros: Its very fast

Cons: it can run very hot. Stock cooling isn't enough or its extremely loud

Other Thoughts: I recently sold mine on a *user auction site* to upgrade to get money for my new phenom 955. If you're looking for a fast processor with a low price, this is it. I have had it for more than a year and I strongly recommend it.

Pros: Great speed for a decent price. Shows the Windows XP boot screen for about 3 seconds, and goes on to the login screen. Opens Photoshop CS4 in about 4 seconds. It's also pretty quiet, and I keep the case open.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Huge upgrade from a 2.0GHz dual-core CPU.

Rating + 5 AMD

Pros: *Fast processor
*Now its cheap
*5.7 Rating under Vista Ultimate
*Crysis, FarCry2, H.A.W.X, Terminator Salvation all run smooth with my 260GTX, no need to get an i7 or Core2Quad or Phenom

Cons: *overclocked 6000+
*it tends to run a little hot, its a 125w processor
*even though its a black edition(unlocked) you cant overclock that much
*Not all AM2 boards support this cpu

Other Thoughts: When I got this cpu it was a little expensive, I thought it was going to be the last of the Athlon series and the black edition meant overclocking. I was excited! It sucks that you cant overclock the CPU unless you have really good liquid cooling and still only few have managed to go passed 3.2ghz to 3.6ghz or more. For those on a tight budget and want a budget gaming rig that can run all games with good resolutions with max settings , get this processor, an AM2+ motherboard (be sure it supports 125w chips, some out there only go to 95w), 3 gigs of ram and a Geforce 260GTX core 216 or its ATI equivalent.

Pros: Worked well for about 3 months in my HTPC. It was very fast and stable.

Cons: Only worked for 3 months. I'm not a gamer and just used the HTPC for movies and internet surfing. Never overclocked.

Pros: Got this off the egg. I have a weird system already, it's specs say it should be a slug(except for the CPU), but it's lightning fast. So not a HUGE jump up from a 4000+, but it's good for me.

Brought my 3dmark score up by almost 2000 points from my old 4000+.

Also AMD!!!!! Viva la AMD! Intel does not game well, I'm guessing you could compare this to their latest Ci7(whatever it may be) and this would wipe its ermm... behind... off the charts on most games.

You gotta love the fact that this thing doesn't get above 120ºF (49ºC) even on my horrible $20 air cooler!

Cons: Does NOT overclock above 3.5GHz (hence the 4 eggs). Even if you overvoltage it to 1.6Vcore it won't do it. That is due to its 90nm manufacturing process. Otherwise, it's great.

Other Thoughts: People say it runs hot, BAH, if you keep dust off the cooler it will stay cold.
my other specs:
this CPU
MSI K9N Neo-F V3
Antec EA650 650W PSU
Raidmax Sagitta II Black case.
320GB 7,200RPM SATA
120GB 5,400RPM IDE
ATi Radeon HD 4870 X2 (I must have got a bugged card ;] it takes a HUGE overclock!)

Pros: Blazing fast.

Cons: Runs very hot. I needed to buy a cooling fan from frozencpu.com to make sure it runs about 50C about (hotter during summer months).

Other Thoughts: Unlike a previous comment, this CPU runs GTA 4 very fast without any chopping after 5 minute cache-in that the GTA 4 game engine needs before the memory is fully loaded.

Rating + 5 AMD A64x2 6400+

Pros: 1) Great Price (at this time)
2) Superior Windsor L2 Cache (2mb) & 12-cycle timing
3) Powerful AMD Dual-Core for legacy AM2 and many AM2+
4) Runs cool with reasonable power draw w/o CnQ active.
5) Higher Frame-Rates and speedier Loads & Tasking
- a) RAM runs at 800mhz Full Speed (unlike many Brisbane)

Cons: 1) Dinosaur 90nm Windsor technology in a 45nm world!
- a) Higher operating temps (than 65nm Brisbane)
- b) Higher power requirements (than 65nm Brisbane)
2) Lower FSB/HTT than Agena & Deneb platforms
3) Some MainBoard makers have not updated BIOS for chip
2) Limited "bragging" rights...:)

Other Thoughts: Last BIOS update for my Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 (rev1.1) was F14 in March of 2008 which limited my cpu upgrade choices. The 6400+ was, in any case, the most powerful and cost effective choice for my early AM2+ board. Replacing a 3 year old 4600+ EE (65w) Windsor has resulted in noticable performance gains, but almost identical peak temperatures of 50c (stock thermal material is "blah"). I do not utilize Cool&Quiet as my system is either "On" or "Off" (and when "On" I want 100% performance). I am a moderate Gamer, this cpu has improved my performance in Fallout3, Crysis, CoD series, NWN2, the HL2 & Doom2 derivatives. None of the current onlines (mmorpg) push this processor. Works fine with my smaller power supply. I consider this to have been a great legacy system upgrade until the AMD tech market settles down and full AM3 systems are vetted and reduced in cost (i.e., in about a year).

Pros: even tho its not the latest and greatest from AMD this baby can still set your mobo aflame with its lightning fast processing power. its like having a classic muscle car. its not got all the bells and whistles but man it gets the job done....and FAST.

Cons: might possibly be too fast........nah.

Pros: Much, much quieter than I had expected, and my computer is running a million times more quickly than it was before. This is a terrific deal.

Cons: None that I have encountered yet.

Other Thoughts: This processor is the reason I finally decided to upgrade my system. I had been considering it for a few months, but having been a pentium guy, I didn't even look at AMDs. A friend recommended I look at them, and I saw this deal, so I bought my whole new setup that day.

Pros: I own this and 9950, both Black Edition. You will see higher highs and lower lows with the 6400.But the lows are about the blink of an eye!

Cons: Quads are faster on compatible software.

Other Thoughts: This provides a little quicker gaming feel than the 9950 but benchmarks lower.I loved this chip for gaming paired with 2 8800s it ripped! If this is your price range just buy it you ll not regret it,TRUST ME !!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: Choosing between the 6400 and the 9550 depends on what you will be doing. For most (older) games, the 6400 would be the best because you don't need a quad and the much higher clock speed at 3.2 will really help.

Of course, the 940 would be the best of both worlds. Save your allowace for a few weeks and get the 940 if you can.

If you absolutely can't spend more than 120 bucks, you should seriously consider the 45nm X3 710 or 720 if your mobo can support it.

Check out the benchmarks for the applications you will be using - this may help you decide.

Go AMD!

Cons: none - great CPU

Pros: fast, affordable, stable.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: when i bought this processor there was no am2+, given the release of that i have been using the 7750 lately on builds its incredible for the price, it may only be 2.6 GHz but the faster front side bus and ability to utilize faster ram has made it out perform this 3.2

Rating + 5 Still the best AMD X2 overall, but has very high wattage requirements.

Pros: 125 watt Windsors are fastest true dual-core CPUs that AMD has released thus far. These will easily meet the needs of the every day user/mid-range gamer, and aren't terribly slower than C2Ds at equal clock speeds. For $99 dollars, this CPU has a far better price vs. performance ratio than Intel's C2Ds.

Cons: This processor requires a motherboard capable of supporting 125 watt CPUs! Most mobos will run a 125 watt Windsor, but could destroy your motherboard and processor if they're not rated for it. This issue is most pronounced when dealing with micro-ATX mobos, since the chipset supports this CPU although the board cannot actually handle it.

MAKE SURE THAT YOUR BOARD SPECIFICALLY HAS A 125 WATT OR GREATER CPU SOCKET! EVEN SOME BOARDS THAT SUPPORT THE NEW PHENOM IIs DO NOT SUPPORT 125 WATT CPUS!

This chip runs hot. Without good aftermarket cooling, you will probably not get more than 400 MHz when overclocking. Even on aftermarket air cooling, it is hard to pass get a stable overclock when approaching 4 GHz.

Other Thoughts: The latest AMD X2 chips (I.E. Kuma) are disabled X3s and X4s that failed quality control testing, and as such they tend to be more prone to issues ranging from minor problems to complete failure. This is the primary reason to choose a Windsor over a Kuma. Brisbanes are just slower than Windsors in general.

Rating + 4 6400 still strong in 2009

Pros: -This processor is so inexpensive now.
- Despite being older tech, this thing is a brute in gaming benchmarks as well as real performance. Its like an old muscle car. It doesn't have all the flash of newer or more refined CPU's but it gets the job done.
-All around fast chip.
-The extra L2 Cache makes a difference.

Cons: -Older 90nm manufacturing so it runs pretty warm. A good heatsink/cooler is a must for optimal performance.
- Performance in most non-gaming applications is not on par with similar Intel offerings.
-This CPU is pretty much the apex of the 90nm manufacturing process. As such, there isn't a lot of headroom for OC like in the newer AMD chips.

Other Thoughts: Against an AMD Phenom II, this chip is unlikely to look as fast. So many non-game applications can make use of the additional cores that the 6400 won't look as good. That's okay though because really the CPU is 2+ years old and you expect it to be outperformed by newer models. If you are looking for a strong gaming CPU you couldn't go wrong with this Dual-Core for the Price/Performance ratio. I've had this CPU for a while and it never hiccups. It is a strong performer and at this price point could make a nice entry level gaming rig if you use higher end GPU. If you can use Phenom II's, go with those. IF you have an older Mobo you want to upgrade, the 6400 X2 will be a nice addition.

Pros: i upgraded from a single core athlon 64 4000+(sad is'nt it) and my pc is running strong, it is the best dual core my pc can run and for 99$ it was worth the purchase,

Cons: none as of yet

Other Thoughts: system specs
asus m2n32 sli delux-wireless edition
amd athlon 64 x2 6400
2 gigs of corsair xms2 dominator
geforce 9600gt
450 watt psu

i was thinking of getting the phenom x4 9600 because my motherboard will support it with a bios update
but decided to get this instead because the phenom would not run to its highest point anyways due to my motherboard not having a am2+ socket, all in all im happy with my new cpu.

Pros: Beats my 2.6 X2 5600+
Doesn't run as hot(temperature) as I thought would.
As I type PC Wizard is giving me 23 degrees C(temperature).
Easy Install. My first processor installation was fun and rewarding.
I notice a slight difference in Vista boot time and
browsing the web. I haven't been abel to test gaming but I'm sure she will do decent.

Cons: 5.5 Vista Index Score I was excpecting a bigger jump. I can't complain though this is the fastest proccesor my board can handel.Mayber overclocking will help out. Hmmmm?

Other Thoughts: Dont forget to update your bios.

Pros: Very good processor if you want x2 core but I bout for only a $100 bucks at the time and its $169 now.. I sold mine and bought a phenom II 940 x4 which whopped its booty at stock settings.. Overclocking x2 is not as fun as my new phenom..

Cons: This thing dosent take well to over clocking... you can get maybe 300 to 400 mhz out of it...

Rating + 4 fast, but runs hot

Pros: very nice processor! super fast, encodes movies way faster than my intel c2d 2.4ghz (obviously). can do anything I throw at it. runs most games smoothly, which i know also has a lot to do with my video card, but the processor plays a large role too. i barely push it over 60% usage.

Cons: runs extremely hot. many times has it over-heated and shut down on me. especially when in a warm room running heavy applications. stock fan sucks. definitely get an aftermarket fan!

Other Thoughts: I don't tend to OC my processors so I can't comment on the OC abilities of this processor.

Pros: this processor has given me nothing but awesome. it runs so fast and never slows down, I hardly ever see it go to 100% unless i'm stress testing it, and it's very very stable if you don't overclock it too far.

Cons: It bottlenecks my HD4870X2(so i'll upgrade to a 3.0 quad soon.)

Other Thoughts: I used a Zalman cooling heatsink with this and it runs awesome, I've never had my system slow down unless i'm running multiple WoW's and watching movies on my TV hooked to my computer. It's bottlenecking my video card which is easily fixed because there are quad core processors out there that are 3.0GHz now. I couldn't get this to overclock too far without it being unstable but I'm not a big overclocker because as long as my system runs stable and doesn't hang then I'm happy, which this processor can do very easily even on Vista.(I do run XP 64-bit though for gaming).

Pros: strong core 3.2 is great highest in a duel core

Cons: price this thing went from about $100 to $200 over night

Other Thoughts: for 200 i might as well spend the extra 25 and get a 3.0 quad black. for the most part i was only going to go duel since most my programs don't effectively make full use of the multi core but the price killed it for me. i was geting this since it's 3.2 and i needed the strongest core i could get multi or not. but at 200 i'll take the .2 hit and get a quad and save my self from having to upgrade later

Rating + 5 Best Duel Core Processor

Pros: This is the best duel core processor. With the right cooling solution it screams through Apps and Games. I have the Zalman CNPS9700NT cooling it and runs at great temps. Even under heavy loads. The Fan/Heatsink that comes with it is nice and does the job. My Zalman does the job better.

Cons: WoW!!! Wish the stock market would climb as fast as the price of this Processor has. I purchased this for 94 bucks and free shipping 5 weeks ago. Even at 189 it is still worth it, if you want duel core. The Quads are around this price, but this thing runs pretty darn close to them too with duel core.

Other Thoughts: I have been very satisfied with all the purchases and products from Newegg throughout the many years I have made with them. Newegg has kept a high standard right from the beginning. Most Newbees don't know how great they were from the start and concidering the growth they have gone through, they have adjusted very well through it all. I commend them on their services that they provide. NEWEGG ROCKS ON..

Rating + 5 Great for Games

Pros: super fast, really compatible, unlocked multiplier, great for games

Cons: a little on the warm side, but not enough to bother me

Other Thoughts: When i saw the price tage on this (170 when i bought it) i was amazed that it was alot more than other amds, even quad core. Then i checked out the benchmarks (toms hardware) and this things is actually better for gaming than any amd phenom (though not the phenom II quad cores per say). Thats because most games - even crisis- can't take advantage of all 4 cores of a quadcore or all three cores of a tri core. Because of this, gaming is actually better on a fast dual core processor than on a slightly slower quadcore, with the exception of the i7s.

Also, i bought the unlocked black edition of this processor somewhere else, only because newegg didn't stock it. Would have bought it here if i could have. Newegg rocks:)

Rating + 5 A Great Buy... A Year Ago

Pros: High Clockspeed, great compatibility, unlocked multiplier, decent price

Cons: low overclocking headroom (only about 5-8% with an asus m3r-mvp and aftermarket (air) cooling, only dual core

Other Thoughts: If your looking at this to build a new system, avoid it. Its a great proc for those who can't get somthing newer, but with phenoms out (and even, i hate to say it, Intel 8000 series core 2 duos) at around the same price, its not the best choice. That said, if you want to get the most out of your current AM2 system that can't accept phenoms due to bios reasons, go for it; its a great proc. Five eggs because its the best amd for native support on am2 sockets and i've never had an issue with it. AMD ROCKS! (and newegg too)

Rating + 4 Very satisfied

Pros: Fast and runs no hotter than my 3.06 Celeron. Between 35 and 40 at idle with the stock fan. Of course it's a 125 watt processor. No regrets buying this. Had 3 months now.

Cons: None really, just the temperature issue. That's why I only gave it 4 and not 5 eggs.

Other Thoughts: Hard to find now.

Rating + 5 Does the job

Pros: Great dual core for the money. Not a lot of OC room but at 3.2 ghz does anything I need done. This is the second one I have purchased, bent the pins on my other one. both worked flawlessy. If you want a fast system on a budget I would recommend you buy one of these while you still can. No longer being manufactured.

Cons: Does run a little hot with stock hsf. Using a ninja 2 and temps are not a problem.

Other Thoughts: AMD appears to be backing off the high end processors for now. Going to wait and see if they come out with something soon, Hate the thought of going to Intel.

Rating + 5 Very Happy!

Pros: Installed very easily. I bought this so that DCS Black Shark would play more smoothly as the DCS Graphics Engine is more dependant on CPU as opposed to GPU. I went from a AMD X2 4400+ to this and my system is much more snappy on the desktop and in-game now. I would recommend this to anyone seeking a cost to performance upgrade. It uses more power than the 65nm so make sure your Power Supply can handle it along with all your other components. My PC is an Acer Aspire E380. Thanks!

Rating + 5 Great chip for AM2

Pros: This chip gives great performance for the price. I was running an X2 5000 with 512kb L2 and upgraded to this card. I saw quite a performance increase. My aquamark3d score went from 96,000 to 130,000.

Cons: Runs a little hotter then the 5000 but I realized that buying it. My Artic Freezer 64pro keeps it well in range.

Other Thoughts: For $100 this is a nice upgrade. I toyed with the idea of doing a full upgrade to AM3 but im glad i saved the money and went to this chip. Runs my games with ease.

Pros: Very good item, VERY FAST , Was cheaper when i bought. Nice upgrade from a 2.2 ghz. Its good if your building a computer with a "smaller" budget that you want HIGH performance from. Can handle all High end games with no problem. Even comes with a good heat sink. I runs so good for me I'm not even gonna overclock it.

Cons: Didnt wash my dishes

Rating + 5 Like it Love it so far

Pros: New Egg had the best price on this. This proc is hard to find now. Supposedly these run certain apps as well as the new phenoms. Noticeably faster than my Socket 939 FX 55 and puts out less heat!

Cons: Couldn't get one the first go around. Had to wait for them to come back in stock.

Wish some one made a motherboard for dual socket of these.

Other Thoughts: Most apps these days are only just now optimizing for dual core. Unless you are running a server with virtualized machines you will never really take advantage of your 4 cores and 4 + gigs of ram.

Was playing War Craft III Wintermaul Wars and at the point where there are thousands of characters on the map at once Every one else's computer froze, but mine didn't.

Rating + 5 Amazing jump in performance

Pros: Handles anything I throw at it and then some. For $109 this is a great bang for your buck. I replaced a 1.8ghz Phenom 9100e with this CPU and I have to say the jump in performance was stunning. I can unleash my 4870's potential now and run every game I own (besides Crysis) at maximum settings with rarely any drops in framerates.

Cons: Runs very hot. Idles at 35C, at full load around 50C. I would highly recommend aftermarket cooling.

Other Thoughts: This is a great replacement for anyone with the Gateway DX4200 with a Phenom 9100e if you are looking for better gameplay performance. The Phenom will bottle-neck any high end video card and some mid range cards, even the onboard GPU performed better with this CPU. I was looking for a good replacement for that Phenom for some time and wasn't sure if this CPU was suitable for the RS780 motherboard that came with my DX4200 but it definitely was fit for the job. Just make sure you have an adequate power supply. 5 out of 5

Rating + 4 good, not all that, not worth $100, maybe$75

Pros: the reviewer before me makes this thing seem like it is the greatest proc of all time. that, it is not. it is ok. I upgraded from a 5600 brisbane. i knew i would not be blown away, but this is the best i could buy for my aging am2 platform - so i wanted the best. i am an audio engineer and adobe audition has certainly sped up in encoding.
the previous reviewer made me laugh when talking about this proc. he made it sound like an i7. that, it is certainly not.
however, in games, because of its high clock speed, it can keep up, as most games are still designed for no more than dual cores.
in encoding however, this proc is right in the middle of the road in benchmarks. it even beats most tri-cores, as their clock speeds are generally much lower. it also beats a few low end amd quad cores in bench marks. in terms of intel, it is not too far below the q6600.

Cons: the 5600x2, obviously, is much cooler. its temps were in the teens occasionally. i have not seen this proc get below 26c. which is just fine. the 5600 brisbane also seemed to be smoother in games. my crysis framerates are overall better, but even in normal scenes the 6400 can jitter a bit - something my 5600 did not do. i play crysis maxed out.

Other Thoughts: look for the 6400 black if you want to overclock, it is a rare find on the net, but you may be blessed. the 6400 black is rather expensive though, usually around 200 bucks when found - i could buy another computer for that.
my 5600 overclocked to 3.346 - stable. somehow, this is about the highest i have been able to get the 6400 to stably overclock. at this speed the 6400 idles in the 50c range. the overclock is not worth a 20c jump in temp & the strain on your psu.
when i installed this processor windows media center in vista premium 64bit got messed up. i could not use my tuner! after googling, i found that upgrading processors in vista 64 messes up the drm folder, which is hidden. after finding the folder, i deleted and everything & it was fine after that. this is not a amd problem, but bad programming on vista's part. many others are having this issue.

Rating + 5 AMD ATHLON 6400+

Pros: WOW does this processor soar to the outer limits for speed! This is one FAST processor. And you can't beat the price. The stock cooler and fan that comes FREE with it is just fine. Most people COMPLAIN about the FREE COOLER, but if you have a good case with adequate fan cooling there REALLY IS NO PROBLEM AT ALL!!! AMD didn't have to give you this in the first place, especially at the price the CPU is going for. I have been using AMD CPU'S for over 15 years and have found that they all run HOT from the 400's on up. Thats the nature of the beast!!! Deal with it and stop complaining all the time over really no big deal!! AMD REALLY ROCKS! NEW EGG ROCKS!!

Cons: NONE AT ALL

Other Thoughts: I would recommend This processor to everyone. GREAT PRICE, and GREAT DEAL!

Pros: Fast CPU, love it for games, 3D imaging, etc. I have never had any problems with this chip.

Cons: Runs a bit hot, but I had plenty of spare room in my case so I threw a 150mm heatsink and a 120mm fan on it and it idles at around 38 degrees C.

Rating + 5 Great CPU Great Price

Pros: Stable, solid performance. I have been using AMD CPU's for years and found some to be a bit quirky. But not this one. At around $100 give or take it cannot be challenged by anything else in that price range. Put it on a solid board, crank up the RAM and budget minded users who want it all can have it all with this chip. Spring for a better CPU fan than the one found in the box and you'll keep it running at full speed.

Cons: Tried overclocking but got mixed results. As always with overclocking, it's not always just the CPU that figures into the equation. But who needs overclocking at this speed.

Other Thoughts: Once again, it's a hot chip so cool it down and keep your case cool especially if using it with a hot graphics card.

Rating + 4 hot and loud under load.

Pros: Very fast, and an unbeatable price for the performance. This gets 4 stars mostly for the excellent price.

Cons: The stock fan/heatsink, don't do the job under full load. It gets a little toasty and then the fan gets really really loud. At idle the cpu fan is fairly quiet, but a little louder than the psu. At full load, (software decode of 1080p) it get's obnoxiously loud. If you are using in an htpc, you will need to find a work around for the noise.

Other Thoughts: I turned on cool and quiet feature on my mobo, which slows the clock speed and cpu fan down. It stays really quiet under full load with cool and quiet turned on, and it is still faster than what I need most of the time. I also use the video card hardware decode for 1080p now, so it stays quiet for htpc use. I am thinking that if I need to get some extra fps out of a newer game, I will have to break down and get an aftermarket heatsink and fan.

Rating + 5 Solid CPU

Pros: Have owned for 9 months now. No problems at all. Comes with a heat sink that I read should be upgraded, but my case (Antec 900) has awesome air flow so I did not have to do this at all. Works like a charm and stays pretty cool even under full load with stock heat sink (I do believe I owe that to the case). Nice cheap price too for being about the highest dual core AMD you can find.

Cons: Only thing I can think of is what I read about needing a better heat sink. But I didn't so it isn't really a con for me at all.

Other Thoughts: Would probably have to get a superior heat sink if I didn't have the case I do.

Pros: Had the CPU for I think about a year and a half and it has been rock solid. I recently needed a new motherboard and went with an ASUS M3A78 PRO because it is AM2 \ AM2+ compatible and eventually I am upgrading to a 9600 Quad-core. At the same time I added an after market 92mm Zalman Fan. I don't remember this chip being as fast on my old motherboard. A year and a half and it is still amazingly fast. Only time I max out the CPU is when transcoding video with Encore CS4, well transcoding in general.

It also runs really cool, but this might be solely because of the CPU fan.

Pros: Put it on a ASUS M3A78-EM motherboard and stuck a Phenom fan and heat sink on it and does it rock. Faster than my Q9850. Does not run hot and it is in a Apevia QPack case. I am quiet satisfied with this unit.

Cons: Price has really come down on this cpu since I bought it.
125 watts will not work on many boards out there. So have to go with 140 watt boards.

Other Thoughts: Running 2 500gb sata harddrives with XP Pro 64 bit, 8gb DDR2 6400, A Blu/Ray burner, a 22x DVD/RW, and a multi card, floppy combo.

Pros: Amazingly fast, quiet, thermal paste already on it!! makes my job easier. AMD has the best value, and newegg rocks made shiping everything seamless

Cons: i have 2 80 mm fans and this thing idles between 41-45 degrees celsius, maybe its not a con considering the operating speed, but other than that this thing is awsome.

Other Thoughts: if your like me and you don't want to pay extra for a quad core this is by far the best processor for your money. Its compatible with AM2+ boards, so you can get an AM2+/AM3 board, use this processor and then later on when you want to upgrade you can do it with no problem.

Pros: I have owned this CPU for just under a year, all I can say is WOW very fast. Opens up Applications fast, boots the system fast, noticeable jump in speed, etc..

Cons: It does put out a lot of heat, so buy an aftermarket cooler of the sort.

Other Thoughts: I can't find this cpu on the market as easily as it was a Year ago. I Play lots of games with it, Run Auto CAD and it's a big jump from a CPU I borrowed from a friend (AMD 64x2 brisbane@ 2.6ghz) Sorry I am short on time writing the review to list more about it. Also I have this CPU cooled by a Koolance fluid cooling block and system (which I did not buy at newegg) and no it is not over-clocked. I did not see the need to. Great CPU to own, Owned it for just under a year (shy of a week or two)and still running strong. BUY IT!!!

Cons: Runs hot, like most AMD processors. Stock cooling doesn't help any. Picking up a third party HS/F is almost a necessity for heavy use.

Rating + 5 Awesome Dual Core CPU

Pros: Price is unbeatable. AMD brings power to the masses at an affordable price. Intel is good, and has faster processers but doesn't come close in price/performance ratio. I use this for gaming mostly with no problems running any game out there. I put this in my 2 year old Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 motherboard with no problems. I have a EVGA 8800GT 512mb GPU, 2x 250mb Seagate Barracuda HD's, X-Fi Fatal1ty soundcard, a Enermax 600 watt PS and a Bigfoot Killer NIC M1 Network Gaming Card. Runing a dual boot system with XP Pro 32bit SP3 and Vista Home Premium 64bit. Will be upgrading the GPU soon!

Cons: Its not a black edition CPU. I haven't tried to overclock it yet.

Other Thoughts: I think the old saying you get what you pay for doesn't apply here, you definately get more then you pay for on this CPU. Great Value.

Pros: It's an AMD dual core. What else is there to ask for. Performance for price or bang for buck. This processor is fast, runs a little hot under load and I'm using my stock Dell heatsink and fan. I just monitor the work with CPU-Z and speedfan and things are stable for the most part. I'll only put this under load when I try out Supreme Commander and when Starcraft II comes out. Wife will appreciate the quickness when she wakes up tomorrow.

Cons: Wish I purchased a whole lot sooner. Wish my motherboard could hold the AMD heatsink/fan, it looks better than what I have trying to keep up with this processor.

Other Thoughts: I replaced an AMD 64 3200 2.0 GHz single core for this. I'm extremely happy with the difference in performace. Upgraded my RAM as well and I can't wait to test this on some games.

I used to be asble to got the the restroom, or get a lite snack before I could use my computer, but now. Power on... log on... and pow! Internet or games or whatever in less than 60 seconds Wow!!!

Cons: It's not a triple or quad core, just a dual. But really do you have any programs that really use 3 or 4 processors???

Other Thoughts: I have no problem watching a Blu Ray, surfing the net, balacning my check book and having a game running in the back ground all at the same time no lag! I'm really going to wait for the move to a 3, 4 or more core proccesor until later. Not because you can, just to have one, I don't run a server, I just need a home computer that can do fun things.

Rating + 5 Fast

Pros: Its fast, 64bit, and the stock fan keeps it cool. The price per hertz/core is much lower than any intel chip.

Cons: Friends may make fun of you for insisting that this is a good processor. Secretly take satisfaction that your computer can out compute theirs.

Other Thoughts: I don't have it over clocked, but if you want to, you can make this scream more than it already does.
Make sure you have some decent memory and a good PSU or this thing will be crippled.

Rating + 5 Very Good Buy

Pros: Fast processor for the cost. No issues with it at all. Very noticable increase in encoding speed from my 4200+

Cons: Too bad it uses 125w, make sure you PS is able to handle the extra load.

Other Thoughts: Smarter buy over quad core at the moment for the average home user. No software really uses the extra cores yet.

Pros: Works great, got it overclocked stable at just under 3.4 on fans, Best Processor for the price. I like the cooling fan!

Cons: Wish i had the money to buy a AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz.

Other Thoughts: If you have the money buy a quad-core AMD PHENOM II 920 2.8GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core or better yet AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz.

Newegg never lets me down.

Rating + 5 Fast....and CHEAP!

Pros: 3.2ghz, Dual Core, Decent LC Cache, for the money its an outstanding performer. I put this chip in a money efficient gaming rig I was building for myself and its more than enough juice.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought this chip to save money and tie me over before i took the plunge on a fast quad core.

With its amazing performance I don't think I'll bother upgrading anytime soon.

Of course Newegg had it to me in 3 days, and as I usually do I buy my items when they are on sale with free shipping and living in Michigan means NO SALES TAX :D

Rating + 5 I'm here at newegg to buy my 3rd one

Pros: Fast as hell. Reliable workhorse IF IT'S COOLED RIGHT. I run mine at 3.6 GHz all the time (you read that right) and it's stable as a rock (it does 3.7 for a long time but eventually crashes). What's the magic? I use not just water cooling, but thermoelectric (Peltier) chilled water cooling.

Get a Freezone thermoelectric CPU Cooler; it's amazing! Newegg sells them, right here. Yes they're expensive ($200), but I'm running my AMD 6400+ at frigging 3.6 GHz! I bought a second identical CPU, and this one (3rd) is for a friend.

Yes, you can go phenom or quad core or whatever. But NONE will even approach the throughput of this 64-bit dual core at 3.6 GHz! And it's cheap, too!

Cons: As everyone says, it runs very hot. But this isn't a CPU for your Grandma's PC; it's for the hardcore performance freq who knows how to cool a CPU.

Other Thoughts: Okay check this out: with chilled water cooling, I overvolt it, overclock it, and it STILL idles at 27º and never, ever hits 50º even under max load. KEEP IT COLD AND THIS THING **BLASTS**

Pros: Very fast CPU. Very good price.

Cons: The thing runs hot, so even if you don't plan on overclocking it, getting a nice fan w/ heat sink is a good idea to bring the temps down.

Other Thoughts: You will not be disappointed with the purchase.

Pros: It fit right in the socket like it was made for it. The thing come factory with PIPES!!!!! The fan is soooo quiet that I have to look to make sure it is still spinning. Installation was so simple its scary. Grease was preapplied and I got a sticker!!!!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte GA-MA69vm, 4 gigs Gskill 800DDR2, XFX 8800 GT Alpha Dog Edition, Antec TPII 550, Logisys Phantom

Pros: Added more power to it and all my games run smooth: World at War, TF2, FEAR 2 demo--in a few days FEAR 2, Company of Heroes and any next gen waiting for this year. Won't have to do any upgrading or brand new whatever until next year or longer even.

Cons: None at all

Other Thoughts: If you feel the need to save money on a computer during this econ. crisis then do what you can and include this processor. Your choice.

Pros: Easy and cheap upgrade. I bought it for $89.99 with free shipping. It only took 2 days from when I ordered until I received it. The processor does run hotter but what do you expect from an running a faster processor.

Cons: I wish that it would whistle while it worked ;)

Other Thoughts: BUY NEWEGG!

Pros: was a huge upgrade from the celeron 3.33G single core i was using

Cons: Stock heatsink isn't that great. Its good enough to keep the computer from shutting down from heat but its nothing to brag to your friends about.

Other Thoughts: only got this one because I wasn't sure if my motherboard would come with the right bios to run the phenomII i had my eye on, which it did lol. Oh well It was still an upgrade and its good enough for what i do with it.
