Excellant CPU
Pros: This is a very cheap CPU for the performance that you receive. It's excellant for general computing; if you are the type of person who plays games, listens to music, encodes video-music in the background, and run a virtual machine all at the same time then the quads are definitly for you,but if you only do 2-3 of the above than this cpu will fit your need nicely.
Cons: Not as fast as AMD's-Intel's newest silicone.

Great CPU
Pros: Very stable with CPU temperature generally holding at 36 C with stock HS and fan and cool & quiet. Using GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-US2H AM2+/AM2 780G HDMI Motherboard. Temp ran up to 50C using prime95 stressor. With DDR2-800, I have been able to OC to 24.1GHz by raising cpu frequency to 230 with bios tweaker. Performance/cost ratio very high.
Cons: None

Another Great AMD CPU
Pros: Very stable with CPU temperature generally holding at 32 C. What a difference this processor makes when playing 3-D games. CPU is quiet & running cool even with use of the stock heat sink/fan that came with it. Works well with the GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-US2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard it's being used on.
Cons: Found 3 pins to be slightly bent on the CPU but was able to straighten them out using a pair of tweezers & had no problem mounting it onto the MOBO.

Waste of Material
Pros: -I didn't waste a FULL Benjamin
-Fast Shipping
Cons: -Came at an unstable clock out of the box, had to underclock it to 1.8GHz, and even then it was unstable
-Used Danger Den water cooling, and it was 94 C on Idle, 136 C on Crysis Very High
Other Thoughts: Don't buy this, it almost burnt a hole in my mobo

Extremely big disappointment
Pros: I didn't waste that much money.
-Is a nice christmas tree ornament
Cons: - Unstable clock speeds out of the box - Had to underclock it to 1.6 GHZ, EVEN then it was unstable.
- Then i bought water cooling, was able to overclock to 2.15 GHZ but the cpu went 98C Idle.
Other Thoughts: I thought this cpu could be paired with 2 GTX 295 in SLI . I was wrong...I recieve a 97% bottleneck.

3 cores for those unique users out there
Pros: Its 3 cores for less than $80. Runs all my games maxed. It used to take me a week to compile a Gentoo system from scratch with my old 754 socket(3200 2.2GHz). Took me one day of compiling to get it ALL done and I mean compile every single program i use.
Cons: N/A
Other Thoughts: How long must we wait for 6 core on one die?

Amazing budget CPU
Pros: This is an absolutely amazing CPU, I usually go for Intel in all of my builds, but I decided to take the leap with AMD, and I couldn't have picked a better CPU for the price. Paired with my 9800GTX this puppy can chug out tough games such as GTA IV or Crysis at close to maximum! Thats saying something for a CPU less than 100 dollars + free shipping.
Cons: I cannot find any cons at all.
Other Thoughts: Paired with a good motherboard and GPU, this can be a great lan party machine!
For those interested, this is what my build consisted of: AMD Phenom 8450 (overclocked to 2.4 GHz) GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-US2H (great motherboard highly recommend) PNY Optima 2GB ( 2 x 1GB)

Decent!
Pros: Great little CPU for the price! It's been running OC'd at 2.5Ghz on the stock cooler at 100% for over a month straight now, and there have been no issues. It's not the fastest CPU, but it does a good job, and for the price it's great!
Cons: It's not the most overclockable, but that's not a huge problem.

ALL I NEED+MORE!!!
Pros: The performance is great! I am not a gamer so this processor should take care of my needs for 3 or so years.
Cons: It wasn't free....
Other Thoughts: This replaced my aging AMD64 socket 754 CPU. I have SUSE Linux 11.1 installed on my system and using VMWare. It handles virutalization with no problems. Using this with an MSI mobo+1GB DDR2 Visiontec ATI RADEON HD 4650+2GB of Kingston DDR1066 RAM.

Great Upgrade CPU
Pros: Runs cool, quiet, and quick! Great price! This CPU went on sale a few hours after I had purchased it and Newegg was happy to credit me the price difference. Thanks Newegg!
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: This CPU is running a DAW at a semi-professional recording studio.

Pros: great cpu bang for your buck is awsome! was very easy to get in and get going.
Cons: the directions are easy to get, very little wording but the pics make up for it. did seem like the headsink took alot of force to lock down. that might just be me being noob though =D

Make sure your motherboard supports it
Pros: I thought the MB I order supported it, but it turns out this was the one CPU it was incompatible with. Based ob price and performance, this chip was a great deal.
Cons: I am dumb and didn't research my purchase carefully

Worth it!
Pros: Great Cpu. A triple core for only $100! I must be dreaming. Basic core clock is a little slow for gaming so oc'd it to about 2.3ghz (not trying to max it, just little overclock) and runs easily. Stock heatsink works well, even with a bit of overclocking room.
Cons: Didn't come with the sticker :(
Other Thoughts: First budget "gaming" build. AMD x3 Phenom 8450, ASUS M3A78, hec X-Power Pro 600, A-DATA 2GB ddr2 800mhz, Western Digital Caviar SE 320gb, Sapphire ati hd 4850 512mb, XP sp2, COOLER MASTER Elite 330

Pros: Low cost. Runs cool Rock solid. Can play older MMO's and encode AVI at the same time. :)
Cons: NONE. This chip is great for what it cost. I got exactly as expected, with no problems and no regrets.
Other Thoughts: I bought this OEM and packaged with a new Foxconn MB to replace my aging 3800-X2. This new setup is quite a bit faster, even though I am using the old 533 DDR2 ram I had on hand. Also using the old X2 stock heatsink with half the thermal goo scraped off. Am still only getting up to 58c under heavy load, 35c idle with good ventilation. I would reccomend this chip to anyone that doesn't need the best and fastest. For the price there is nothing that compares.

Quality CPU
Pros: Great Price, even @ $125 which is what i payed for it, it was a good deal, so far hasnt had a problem with anything, left 4 dead max settings, fallout 3 max settings, couldn't be more happy. (paired with a single 65nm 8800GT) i cant imagine why someone would want SLI for any reason but to be "cool" when my 8800 still plays everything ridiculously well
Cons: no longer able to make toast on my CPU.
Other Thoughts: i was considering upgrading CPU's to a new phenom ii, but whats the benefit? This is probably the best budget PC i've ever made. considering just the month before i built this i build another PC with the "BE" series CPU that cost just as much. (well excluding the monitor and the 8800)

Awesome chip for the price
Pros: This processor screams compared to my old 3800+ I primarily use the computer in photoshop CS4 and video editing in aftereffects. I'm runnign an ASRock A780GXE/ 128M and a PCI-E ATI HD 2600 Pro and a seagate SATA 1TB HD with 4 GB of 1066 RAM. My Dad has a similar spec intel machine but running a Q6600 quad core. Applications open quicker on my system, however the video editing/rendering is slightly quicker on the Q6600. We are both running Vista 32 bit.
Cons: None that I can find.
Other Thoughts: If you have been thinking about getting a new processor stick with AMD, sure the AM3 isnt out yet to compete with intels i7, but when it is out it will spank intel as always and cost you less as well.

3 core from AMD
Pros: Good for the money. Cool.
Cons: 0
Other Thoughts: I never run it under full load. Although I run it with Zalman copper cooler with fan turned off (fan is too loud for me :)). Chassis fans were on. The temperature didn't go higher than 39C. And the whole thing was quiet enough.

Very Nice Cheap Processor
Pros: Processor runs great, very good performance, and had a great price. Will definately be suggesting the tri-core processors as they have a good cost/speed ratio.
Cons: none

Mmmmmmm, greeeat.
Pros: It's fast. The stock fan and heatsink that's provided by AMD works great. Quiet too. Great performance at a good price.
Cons: Well, none =D.
Other Thoughts: If I have the money, and could drive to anywhere I like, I would buy a aftermarket heat sink and fan, maybe the Vigor Monsoon III or IV or something.
Although this processor is good, I wish I bought a Phenom AM2+ X3 processor that runs at a higher frequency.

way more than you need
Pros: Has the hardware virtualization I wanted for Linux at a low price, unlike brand X. It is cold to the touch until you really whack it with CPU intensive programs. OCs to 2.7 G at voltage default. 2.9 G with a teeny bit of voltage (6%). Since I only need it running it at normal, and just thought I'd see if it would do more, I am pleased, needless to say. I think I'll keep it.
Cons: Cooler is not the heat pipe style, and the fan doesn't push lots of air. IOW quiet rather than minimal temps. Although, since this CPU disables unused internal resources invisibly, you might never know.
Other Thoughts: With a substitute HS, that is still cheap and quiet, the only way to get temp as high as 35 C is to run prime95 on 3 CPUs OCed. Temperature does not seem to be what limits the OC however.

K cubed
Pros: Runs cool, works fast, and overclocks pretty well too. It really plows through apps.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: In a stock Kubaceski PC K3, I've overclocked it to 2.8Ghz. That's what I would deem as "beyond acceptable".

Did I buy an Icecube?
Pros: Cold.... very very cold. On top of handling Crysis, COD4, and various other graphic intensive games like a champ, it does it while staying colder than any other chip I have ever used before. Multi-tasks just as good as any other and will only start to slow down when i'm running a ton of apps like EVE with WMP11 playing a movie or AMV, half a dozen IE/Firefox windows up, and writing on a MS Word document or two. Yes, I have done all those at one time and it handles them all flawlessly.
Cons: Um... I got it in a Gateway GT5692 so the stock board has zero OCing features which disappoints me... looks like I need that DFI Lanparty after all.... oh well SLI and OCing here I come!
Other Thoughts: Ran Prime95 for a few hours, never hit 30c for more than a second or two at a time. I have it on a stock GT5692 board and have it cooled by Arctic Silver 5 ceramique under a GIGABYTE GH-PDU22-SC bent 90* and flipped the fan to blow straight at the exhaust vent of my Apevia X-Dreamer's exhaust fan. With that, I idle at 19-23c depending on ambient temps and might get to 30 if I load this thing all day. For a cheap, power efficient and very, VERY thermal efficient chip, go for this, it's absolutely awesome in evey sense of the word.

update
Pros: just an update after running it at the stock 2.1 i managed to overclock it to a stable 2.55 im sure i can get it to a 2.6 with a little bit more adjustment
Cons: it didnt come factory clocked at 3.0
Other Thoughts: if you want a budget cpu that can haul and run your rig gaming or not i would suggest this

Buy this!!!!
Pros: this is an excellent processor for the money. The stock cooler i surprisingly effective. On 2.1 ghz it runs at 34C on idle, and 37C full load. I have it stable OC'd at 2.415 ghz on stock cooler with 46C idle and 49C full load.
Cons: None... but remember to put a bit of Arctic Silver 5 too make this baby really effective.
Other Thoughts: THis processor may be an odd ball at 3 cores, but it beats most dual cores at average use and is excellent for gamers! This thing wasn't built to sprint, it was built to multi-task at a low price. Well done AMD!

For the price, great buy!
Pros: Great price for bugdet upgrade...
Easy to install... chip and fan installed in 5 minutes
Retail Heatsink fan is adequate for most. AMD now has much easier (less force needed) fan clips than my last build (4 yrs ago)
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I recommend this chip! I was upgrading from an AMD Athlon 64 2.4 GHZ on a ASUS KN8-E Deluxe board w/ 1GB DDR AGP 8x 512MB VisionTek. This Phenom chip, on an ASUS M3A78 Pro (onboard ATI Radeon HD 3200) w/ 1.75 DDR2, is lightning fast in comparison. Examples: FLV Converter coverts vids 4 times faster. Oblivion & COD4 run faster, less load times. :) As always, newegg > all others.

I can fly!
Pros: I have torture this chip with different utilities and it likes it. I had it running 100% usage for 10 minutes and the temperature never went over 35C! I bring out all the programs I have install on the computer and I have them perform a task and the CPU usage is under 60% per core. How much better a quad core can be.
Cons: I replaced a x2 6000 and the windows experience index went down from 5.6 to 5.4 but I guess this is because it counts speed per core not the overall speed.
Other Thoughts: It was a pain to make the 3rd core to appear on task manager but it was my motherboards issue not the chip

Quality
Pros: Compared to a Dual Core processor at 2.2-2.8 Ghz I'd have to say that this thing at 2.1 Ghz beats them with a stick. Phenom X3 is a lot faster. Cheaper than a Quad Core. 95 Watts.
Cons: None really, Stock heatsink fan idle's this around 35C which is a little warm but learning from the manual that the warranty is void if a different heatsink is used then I can deal with the warmth.
Other Thoughts: I was really impressed with this Processor. I am using a 2.2 Ghz AMD Athlonx2 on a Socket 939 motherboard (2 Gigs DDR, GTX280, Velociraptor 300gig 10,000 RPM HD, Vista 64 Bit business) and when I built this computer (Paired with 4 Gigs Ram, HD2400XT, and 500 Gig SATA2 32mb Cache HD, XP Professional Service pack 3) for my boss I was a little bit jealous at the increase of speed compared to my Dual Core. I now know what is really bottle necking my system (not that mine is slow or anything), need to pick one of these up for myself or a Quad.

Excellent value for the money
Pros: I have been an INTEL owner for a long period. Well I am not complaining on it though, but just wanted to try how an AMD fared with INTEL. So far I am more than satisfied with its performance. No heating inspite of OC. But I am not a gamer. I use it the system at home (SOHO) and have had it online for more than a week now. No problems absolutely and definitely a bang for the buck. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Cons: None noticed so far.

Great Processor
Pros: Great performance...Installs windows xp in 12 minutes. Idles in vista ultimate with dream scene turned on at 0% usage. Great step up from an intel pentium D. Great prices over intel, not going to use intel anymore. I have no processor lag anymore in games like with the pentium D. Great front side bus speed compared to intel, and there is a lvl 3 cache wich is only available from intel for an 800 dollar processor. Overall GREAT PRICE for the performance.
Cons: None at all.
Other Thoughts: Phenom 8450 2 gig OCZ 1066 XFX 750a sli mobo ide hard drives sata cd drive nvidia geforce 7600 gs 512 mb

Good for what I need
Pros: Triple core is neat, under $100, overclocks decently, no temperature problems
Cons: None really, since it's not necessarily for a high-powered gaming machine
Other Thoughts: Decided to go AMD so I could try out the 780G chipset, plus AMD's new Fusion thing (Wiki it). Works well so far, no problems. Video is a little weak for my liking, though, so I ordered an HD4670. Cheap and quality, that's all I need

CPU
Pros: A decent triple core CPU, overclocks easy. Be wise and get a solid cooling system
Cons: My AMD 5600+ oc'd at 3.4 dual core processor is still faster than this CPU. After all when you do the math and add the number you can calculate which can run faster and suits your better.

Im in love
Pros: I love this CPU... I was upgrading from a p4 3.33 and i was on a budget of about 200 bucks for cpu mobo and ram, after ordering i was really worried that i had made the wrong decision. I wait the wonderful 2 days it takes for newegg products to get to me. ripped the old mobo CPU out of my Prebuilt tower and installed the new hardware and reformatted the pc.... All i have to say is wow!!! This cpu is fantastic its extremely fast run COD4, stalker clear sky, hl2 css and all of my games at optimal performance with a 9600gt... I HIGHLY recommend this product to anybody looking for a cheap build regardless if it is for gaming or anything
Cons: the heatfan was a pain in the rump to install, and i wish it was higher than 2.1 but then again that is what overclocking is for
Other Thoughts: i paired it with an asus m3a78 for 80 bucks and 2 gigs of ddr2 800 adata ram... very cheap and i am EXTREMELY Happy with my purcahse

decent
Pros: relatively cheap...triple core.. runs ok...
Cons: Not overclockable, my asus M3A32MVP deluxe which is a monster for overclocking couldn't manage not even 2% higher on this CPU. In contrast my amd64 X2 6400+ went from 3.2 to 3.52, my 9950 X4 125W went from 2.6 to an amazing 3.1ghz. Using same Asus mobo, same corsair xms2 ddr2-800 memory, same zero therm cooler BTF-90.
Other Thoughts: the best bet right now is a Amd 9950 2.6 ghz Quad core 125w with a M3A32MVP deluxe or any 790GX motherboard... save your money and get and amd64 x2 6400+ CPU or the new 9950 X4 125W TDP...put some decent memory on it and don't forget the cooler xero therm btf90 has amazed me...do not use stock coolers if your are looking to get some decent overclocking.

Stable at 2.6Ghz
Pros: I'm very impressed so far. I upgraded from a x2 5000 BE @ 3.4Ghz, and very happy. If you think x2 is good for multitasking you will love the x3 (and its still under $100). I am able to run multiple intensive games/programs with not much lag in any. As of yet I have not gone higher with overclocking, and at 2.6 I have not had to adjust the volts. Also this still runs very cool compared to the
Cons: Goodbye warranty (o/c). Im not able to sustain as high of clock cycles as my old 5000 BE (but I am starting from 2.1 not 2.6). I could not overclock for the longest time, then I found out it was the bios of my mobo and flashed it.
Other Thoughts: I think the extra cache is what makes this feel so much faster when just switching between apps. I know for single threaded apps this is worthless (you can find higher clock x2s cheaper) but for the ability to run MANY large programs at once in my use is much better. I even got a few more fps in some games.
AMD Phenom 8450 @ 2.6GHz XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm heatsink EVGA 9600 GT (next to be overclocked ;) Mushkin Redline (2x2GB) @1066MHz (default 1000) Seagate 640GB 32MB cache HDD Foxconn A7GM-S mobo Thermaltake Key3 Spirit case w/ 430w PSU

Pros: It's a CPU, it ether works or it doesnt. No complaints here.
Cons: Maybe its my old case, but I found stock heat sink to be very inconvenient. It didn’t remove heat effectively .
Other Thoughts: I got bigger heat sink with heat pipes and used “AMD” stock fan on it. Now it is very quite. And runs at 27-32C.

I like it
Pros: Big improvement over a Turion ML-37 on desktop at 2.4Ghz. Windows Vista Ultimate x64 boots a lot faster than Vista Ultimate x86. I managed to overclock it to 2.52Ghz using my motherboard's automatic overclocking feature.
Cons: Cons section is wasted space.
Other Thoughts: I'm waiting for Deneb to see if AMD can catch up with Intel.

Excellent!
Pros: Rivals our 4X phenoms on real-world benchmarks. Stable at 25% OC running motion graphics on Biostar T-series mobos w/ Corsair XMS dimms. No thermal problems using Xigmatek 120mm HSF. Great value.
Cons: none apparent to me

Hit the spot
Pros: -3MB cache -65mn -phenom, 3x -stable -28* at idle, and 36* on load
Cons: -89w consumption
Other Thoughts: When I was putting together my computer, I see of no reason not to choose an AMD processor again. My first AMD athlon is 10 years old, and it is still surfing the web at acceptable speed. Choosing the toliman 8450, is even easier because it has the best spec for a processor that's less than $100. Heck, the mid range processors from intel didn't even come close. If you're not planning on getting anything higher than E6650, then save yourself some money by buying this unit. Even if I had $170 I would not go with intel, rather I would go for a quad core....The only time in which I would go with intel right now is when I want a top of the line quad core.....

Great Processor - three is just right
Pros: Unbelievable price, fantastic speed, and super fast delivery. [Thanks again for an excellent buying experience, Newegg!]
Cons: Of course it would be lovely if they were free, or if AMD would pay us to use their CPUs - seriously though, there are no cons whatsoever!
Other Thoughts: I ordered this CPU for the speed and spec's; but now I'm impressed with the usage of resources that this CPU manages! I should admit here that I am an AMD bigot. I've never used anything except AMD cpus since the days of the 486 - they didn't have names in those days, and I've never been disappointed with any of my builds. Technical throughput may be faster in the Intel models, but I will never know except by reading Tomshardware.com

Pros: Well this was a very very over due upgrade for me.. I upgraded from an athlon 2800+ barton core that I bought a week after it was released for an insane price I'll have you know! This time I was smarter and went for a relatively cheaper cpu and I couldn't be happier. This thing runs great in my m3n-hd/hdmi.
Cons: My con is newegg for making me actually type something here.. Why is this a required field if there is no con??

Pros: Wow i was very impressed with the speed and the amount of multitasking this thing was able to handle.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Was considering buying a Duo from those other guys but spent LESS on this and got another core and was able to overclock this baby to 2.6 on stock volts and air cooling. Quite impressed and by going AMD got a better Platform ! GO AMD!

AMD-Phenom-Toliman-8450-X3
Pros: AMD-Triple Core-Hyper Transport-! Look you get 3x512kb processors which makes 1.5MB of L2. Than plus you get extra 2MBL3 cache for total of 3.5MB of cache which can compete with Intel's in it's own variety. 2.1 is blown away with 3600Mhz HT which Intel only has up I believe 1333Mhz and Intel does no longer give HT with there processors making AMD the only one. 2.1Ghz can easily be overclock if you are into it depending on motherboard capability and bios. I have not had any problems as I popped it in and off I am. Those who have problems are doing something wrong like jacking it up constantly which destroys not only the warranty but processor as well. You should however have more then one fan as 1 usually never cuts it with power systems anyway. I was predicting on going to Intel Core Duo from AMD Athlon 64 5400+ but went with this to save me from starting over and glad I did. Intel is good but for my price range of me (AMD).
$+S&H+3day=Newegg=5 years so far of my monthly service.
Cons: None-zip-notta!
Other Thoughts: I have 8x80mm case fans vie 4 front and 2 back and 1 top and side. Plus a Thermaltake cooler that replaced my Asus cooler only for the lights(lol).
Now my system is! Absurdly great for the price
Pros: It is just absolutelymindboggling that one can get this level of performance at this price.
Cons: Stock cooler isn't great (tho adequate with good fan control, I think) but for some reason the OEM chip-only price is higher.

AMD 8450 much better than my old E8400 intel
Pros: Hi have been building computers for more than 9 years and AMD still owns intel. For me it's amazing the performance this AMD 8450 give me. Compared with my previous amd and intel CPUs this one is the king. One interesting thing, even with a lower clock speed toliman it's the best. Don't think cause the clock speed the cpu ISN'T fast, in fact running @ 2.1 smokes my old E8400 intel runnig @ 3.0
I paired with a gigabyte 780G and woallaaaa.
Don't waste your time and money with the other guy, this x3 means best bang for your bucks.
One more thing, I love AMD virtualization, you can run multiple aplications at the very same time.
Cons: N/A
Other Thoughts: A couple months ago bougth the wolfdale E8400 45nm thinking to get better performance (since runs 3.0 against 2.1 and has 6MB L2 against 2MBL3 and also 45 nm VS 65nm) but let me tell you intel virtualization sucxs, even with the E8400 my computer was kind of frozen for microseconds.

It's allright
Pros: There is a somewhat of an improvement over my previous dual-core 1.6GHZ Pentium. Games do run a tad smoother, but for $50 more, I don't think its worth it.
Cons: Was only able to overclock to 2.25GHz. If you are running Vista, need to get a patch from Microsoft to make it run better. Since the numbers of cores is not to the power of 2, some programs might not utilize a core or two.
Other Thoughts: Definitely a solid processor. Went down $20 after I purchased it, and then went up again $40.

Cons: Not very overclockable even with a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H board and 2 GB PC2-8500 Kingston hyperX Memory clocks up nicely though.

Crazy Efficient
Pros: idles at 30c haven't seen it go above 41c w/ stock cooling and A.C. MX5, only seen CPU max once when i was playing bf2, running antivirus, spybot, bit torrent, and burning a movie, running at 41c. (no hiccups either) but 7200rpm HDD isnt fast enough for good loading time when doing all that, never really tried OCing it yet, don't feel the need to. couldnt be more happy with it
Cons: not able to make my toast on my CPU anymore
Other Thoughts: used to have dual AMD MP 2400's (Barton core) that used to both idle at around 50c and reached 65c full load. i could easily make my popcorn in the case.

Easy to overclock
Pros: Got it to 2.9ghz stable on 1.264v very easily. This was done on the Biostar 790GX. An excellent cpu, multitasks well and, once overclocked, is very speedy as well.
Cons: With the cpu, none.
Other Thoughts: A great little gem here. Should be able to get 3.0ghz and farther easily in the future.

Nice
Pros: Runs cooler than I thought it would with the included heatsink and Fan (idles right at 100f when I check after a game or load it hasn't been higher than 107). So far very stable. 3 cpu graphs in the task manager is cool!
Cons: Not as fast as the dual cores.
Other Thoughts: I read a lot of reviews and knew the dual cores were faster, but I'm hoping the Phenom's catch up in the future, also hoping that more software will come out that takes better advantage of multiple cores, in which case the Phenom will outpace its higher clock 2 core brethern.

Smoking
Pros: This CPU is amazing for the price! Combined with an ASUS M3N78-EMH and Patriot 1066 memory the buildout I did was smoking!
Cons: This was retail so cooler came with. Installing the cooler is in the difficult rating for installation. These things need to be better engineered.

First of many
Pros: Pretty dang fast for a triple-core; got this at badbuy at within reasonable price limits and happy i spent the extra cash. This thing, for most users who are light gamers and have a descent build around the CPU will appreciate this. Also runs extremely cool, 32c now with stock cooling and low airflow in a warm room.
Cons: Probably isn't in any way the fastest CPU out there and won't ever be. I got in a little higher priced than I wanted seeing as i bought it retail but that's the price I pay for taking it home same day :/
Other Thoughts: I decided I couldn't wait another 3 weeks without a good computer and the Celeron D system I was on was pushing me to my limits. Went to Badbuy to scout prices, did some number crunching and landed on this for a darn good price, and extremely happy I did too, upgrading this rig to be a mid-level gamer's going to be uber-cheap now. Now to get my tempest case......

If u want the cheapest amd+ socket get this!
Pros: if your buying this you probally went to AMD+ socketsand chose the cheapest one. thats what i did and i am glad i did. works great and im using 1066 ram cant go wrong for the price.
Cons: the stock fan was SO LOUD not because the fan but because the casing was loose and it rattled around like crazy had to duct tape it down. lol
Other Thoughts: if you go with this i would sugest getting an after market fan.

8450, to 3.0 ghz
Pros: N/A See Below
Cons: N/A See Below
Other Thoughts: Just got this CPU, when it arrives planning to see if I can get this to 3.0ghz or higher with the new Biostar 790GX chipset.
Will update with another review with results and what I used. Look for Toku in the future.

Plenty Of Power
Pros: Runs nice & cool, even with a wee bit o' overclocking. Good price:performance ratio, nice bridge between ×2 and ×4. Can run Vista with the eye candy turned on, an office ap and a windowed DVD or TV and still won't choke if the virus scanner or other scheduled task kicks in. Phenom architecture on the cheap! I treat it like a dual core with a reserve for the Vista penalty. Not entirely accurate, but close enough.
Cons: The fastest of the ×2 processors still have a slight edge in clocks × cores (i.e. the total number of instructions per second) per dollar. Not all chip sets fully support all the architecture's features, but that's not really the CPU's fault, is it now...
Other Thoughts: In the early days of mass-production, the US chocolate factories were too far from the spread out farms to ensure that the milk would be fresh. Not spoiled, of course, just not right from the cow, so they compensated with extra sugar. European chocolate was generally made be a village chocolatier, serviced by local farms. Even with modern refrigerated transport, since it's the accepted taste, they intentionally age the milk and over sweeten. That's why it's so different than European.

Incredible
Pros: Incredible price to performance ratio. Good overclocker for an AMD.
Cons: Purchased mine when it was nearly 50% more expensive.
Other Thoughts: Overclocked to 3.0ghz (287x10.5) on 1.28 volts, 100% stable. Limited by motherboard which absolutely won't boot past 289HT Bus Speed regardless of other settings. Very pleased with this processor and I may try a new motherboard or a BIOS update to reach a higher overclock.

Phenom x3 2.1
Pros: Fast multitasking and benchmark scores! Excellent performance for the price very good choice.
Cons: I have none! I wish it was cheaper...but I am just poor...haha like the rest of the US citizens.
Other Thoughts: I think AMD should work on getting some faster triples, why does a old XBOX 360 have a 3 core 3.2ghz processor yet, I cannot even buy something that good for my computer two years later??? someone wake these manufacturers up....

Best CPU for $100 Range
Pros: This CPU was a big upgrade over my AMD Athlon 3700+ 939. The three cores will be used on a regular basis as I do a lot of video and audio encoding/editing. Since I am a casual gamer I didn't need anything greater than this.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: This is the best value CPU on the market, especially if you make a combo deal and get an additional $20 off the list price.

Great CPU
Pros: Well, whats not to love about this CPU. I moved up from a single core and this thing is a smoker. Overclocks extremely well, hit 2.7ghz right out of the box with OEM fan and is rock solid. runs extremely cool too. i hit 44C on a full load at 2.7ghz (single core of course). All i can say is "WOW." For the value, the price surely can not be beat.
Cons: None so far.

Great Buy
Pros: I built three systems with these CPU's and they tear up anything I have thrown at them. They are a great CPU for the price.
Cons: Seem to run a little warm. No big deal, easy fix.
Other Thoughts: I am happy with them. Buy one for yourself. You wont regret it for the money.

Godd Idea
Pros: read other thoughts
Cons: read other thoughts
Other Thoughts: ok. I do not own this processor but from everything that i see on this, it looks like a great idea on amd's part. its 3 cores so its better than most duals at a really good price. i've owned amd before and i hope that their new quads bring them back up. i now own a q9450 for the performance though.

Good home server CPU
Pros: Overclocked to 2.4ghz with water cooling so far. Will try to push more after I get a new MB.
Cons: Price dropped $20 after I ordered it... seems to happen to everyone on the egg
Other Thoughts: Replaced a 939 x2 2.1ghz and ddr 400 /w ddr2 1000 and I noticed much better performance. Will be a home server for folding@home, and media serving.

Silver Anniversary
Pros: My 25th AMD build and made it for myself. Great value without being bleeding edge... Cranks Vista Ulti 64 like nobody's business. Stock cooling running just fine. Quite the value.
Cons: Didn't install itself..
Other Thoughts: Excellent company, excellent value, what more could I want...

Great AMD Processor
Pros: Obviously your doing a low cost build if your choosing the X3. For that purpose its ideal. Your can't beat the performance for the price. period. It overclocks fairly well, even on the stock heatsink with stock voltage (2.35GHz stable for 1 mo). The supplied cooler is actually quite good (all that for $125!). Runs circles around my Intel 3.0GHz 478-P4 single core in all areas even with the slower clock due to the cache and FSB!.
Cons: Many Apps wont take advantage of three much less four processors. (actaully a pro for buying an x3 rather than a quad). It will go to 2.5Ghz but get a BIG cooler/fan and definately a NB cooler. Wish id waited for the price drop to 125. This CPU will probably be phased out when X4 yields improve; so you may not see further price drops (below $100 without the heatsink) -imo
Other Thoughts: Makes a GREAT low cost higher end system with a 780g Mobo. I used the FOxconn with 2x1 GB of OCZ Reaper; very happy. the limiter will be heat on your NB chip. You'l have to push the NB to get the full speed advantage of the AM+ FSB.

Best Value
Pros: If your on a budget it's the closest thing you can get to a quad core without blowing the bank. It's a good value I'm really satisfied with it. It flies and multi tasks without a sweat. It handles normal pc users demands at a cost friendly price.
Cons: Only gets a 5.3 in Vista =/

Works well for me
Pros: Reasonable performance for the price paid, runs cool on the stock HSF. All pins were straight! At stock this processor is rock solid and can handle any modern application. Game with a sweet sticker!
Cons: Didn't seem to overclock well at all (see below though). Could get it up to about 2.2Ghz, but couldn't get it stable above that even with increasing the voltage. Most applications don't use the third core, but thats not the fault of the processor. If you're a gamer, go with a C2D. New Phenom color scheme looked silly on the box.
Other Thoughts: My overclocking was probably limited by my mobo, its a 780G I got for free with a combo deal. Neither it nor this processor are known for their overclocking, so I didn't expect much in my efforts. I know Intel is better clock for clock, but when it comes to a budget system, AMD offers some great bargains. With the budget I was contrained to, the best I could have done with Intel was a Pentium Dual-core and a G33 mobo. Might have gotten a better overclock, but it would have been hampered by the graphics solution.

Pros: It's got more cores than "other processor manufacturer's mainstream processors" <cough>intel's<cough>
But seriously, I HAD an AMD athlon XP 2200+, which, btw was a single-core, 1.8GHz Proccy, with (I think) 128KB cache? well anyway, it sucked compared to this one. This one ripped a DVD to an AVI in 40 Minutes, in informal tests I did. The other one? 3 HOURS. Wow.
I almost screamed like a little girl when it booted with no problems (I'm not used to that), and vmware? Windows XP 64-Bit host, AND 32-bit winXP, AND 32-bit Linux installing, AND MacOSX (heehee) 32-bit, dual-core AT THE SAME TIME!!! LOL
Cons: It's not a quad core, it's got purple on the box, and scared the <bad word> out of me when I found no thermal paste (BUT DON'T WORRY!!! It's got stuff applied to the heatsink already)
Other Thoughts: I bought that AMD Athlon XP for, oh, lets sum it up:
Proccy - $40 (overpriced) on... "an online auction site" Mobo - PCCHIPs, $40 newegg I bought 2 (neither worked long) $35 Asrock "same online auction site"; worked, but problems.
Plus the OTHER processor to replace the first (newegg -$40), and an Nvidia 7800GS ($160);
over $350, including case, PSU, etc.
I put 500 bucks into my new computer, SHA-BAM!!! Speed. Don't upgrade, buy new. Don't pay for boxed, pay for parts, then put together yourself. You could save a TON!

Excellent!
Pros: Decent Overclocking capability 95W rating
Cons: price could be a tad lower.
Other Thoughts: For the price, this is the best mainstream processor because you get K10 tech with lower power consumption and a real future performance benefit with 3 cores! Paired with the Asus M3A, this cost will be under $200! I have clocked it up to 2.65 GHz so far, no problems with prime95 for AMD overdrive stress testing. Cool'n'quiet works well, even while overclocking, so excess heat does not seem to be an issue. I am upgrading from an s939 X2 4000.

Easy install, works just fine
Pros: Lowest cost way to move up from dual core (if you need to). Very simple install, no different from AM2 installs for me. Running BOINC which basically pushes 100% cycles on all three cores the stock fan works surprisingly well. Temperatures in the 45C range. Matched with a Biostar A740G M2+ and setup ran out of the box - no updates needed.
Cons: I'm not overclocking this CPU and so the stock heatsink and fan combination works for me. If I were to overclock, like others, I would go with a 3rd party heatsink/fan.
Other Thoughts: The install was an in place swap of an Nforce6/AM2 6000 combination on XP SP2 and was I surprised that it actually booted up to the OS directly. All I needed to do was do a full driver update from the MB CD. Mostly that sort of swap out is at best a safe mode boot and typically a full reinstall. Not so here -- saved me an hour.

Great processor for the price
Pros: Fast little bugger, oc'ed easily to 2.35 with stock cooling, can probably get it to 2.5 and beyond with better cooling options.
Cons: None.

Good choice for a modest system.
Pros: I purchased this as part of building my wife a new system that would last her a couple years. The processor performs well. It doesn't seem to generate too much heat, even when doing some gaming (e.g. WoW, CoD4). The 95W power consumption doesn't stress the motherboard too much, like some of the more power-hungry processors do.
Cons: These triple-cores only exist because they were born quad-cores, and one core failed testing, so AMD turned it off. These are priced exactly 3/4 the cost of the same clock-speed quad-core. AMD could have done better than that for something they would have otherwise just had to throw away.
Other Thoughts: It's kind of novel having 3 cores. It's like that 3 cylinder engine they had in Geo Metro's for a while.

kinda expensive, but runs fine
Pros: Overclocked to 2.625 at default voltage - totally stable at 100% load via prime95; runs at 28C idle and ~42C load. I'm using a xigmatek s963 cooler because the stock heatsink and fan were horrible--70mm fan spinning at over 5000 rpms under load sounded like a jet turbine. I don't understand why AMD didn't package the heatpipe heatsink that comes with the 64 x2 cpus.
Cons: I honestly can't discern must of a speed difference between this cpu and my ancient athlon xp 3200.

great for the money
Pros: Great upgrade from a single core CPU, makes multitasking a breeze. Everything is very fast, from just opening a program to converting a video. Lightning fast on anything optimized for multiple cores.
Cons: Sometimes one core is doing all the work but this is probably because some programs are not optimized for multiple cores.
Other Thoughts: A must buy.
