Go with Intel
Pros: While the processor lasted in my system, I would have rated it at least a 4, maybe even a 5. It is speedy, handled photo editing well and even did the video editing without problems. After 1.5 years, it just up and died. I didn't have any fancy overclocking going on and the temps never exceeded 41°C.
Cons: Died without warning after 1.5 years. I still have a Dell with an Intel running after 5 years of almost continuous use. RMA by AMD is going to take about 2 weeks if they "pass it on visual inspection." I want to tell them to keep the thing but I would have a heck of a time getting a new system together in time to finish my photo stuff and get all of my software re-installed.
Other Thoughts: I will be going back to Intel. If reliability is important to you, stick with Intel. I have yet to have a problem with any of my Intel systems.

Pros: I loved this processor, worked like a charm before my mobo died. I've ordered it's cousin the Dual core 4800+ that's .1ghz faster for my rebuild which i'm slowly saving the money for. AMD has always been fantastic :)
Cons: Can't use my old one!

Great Value!
Pros: Great value and is a world of difference upgrading from an Athlon 1.4 oc'd to 1.8
Cons: I think it is the mobo combo and overclocking software, but it doesn't like to be overclocked with my ASUS A8N5X Socket 939.
Other Thoughts: On a side note the mobo automatically will control CPU performance based upon need.

Cool and Powerful
Pros: Inexpensive, powerful, runs cool. Does what you would expect it to do. I use it with 2gb RAM and all games load quickly, all apps start instantly.
Cons: none

Best Proc I've Owned.
Pros: This thing is my best friend, I've owned it for a little over a year now and it is FANTASTIC! Runs at about 25C idle in my PC, no more than low 50sC at full load.
Cons: It's 200 bucks cheaper now than when I bought it... :( But I guess that's good for you guys
Other Thoughts: AMD FOR LIFE!!! I think I'm gonna go buy an X2 now that they are cheap.

Pros: It's freakin' AMD, what else needs to be said. Oh yeah, this chip rocks, has no trouble handling anything that I throw at it. If nothing else at least it's not Intel. . .
Cons: It doesn't go out for pizza

Tough Chip
Pros: The chip is strong and only limited by ram for overclocking, i unfotrunately only got it to 2.7 stable due to my ram, I'm putting some OCZ in to get a little more out of it
Cons: CAME WITH BENT PINS, PAY ATTENTION NEWEGG!
Other Thoughts: took me like an hour to line it up cause of the pins, but even with bent pins this thing performs, a lot better than my 3200

A real bargain.
Pros: Fast and cheap. The good cheap though, meaning I didn't have to break the bank to buy it. Runs great, heatsink with it looks good and performs well.
Cons: I could say socket 939s are on the way out but wasn't a real con for me. Just wanted something efficient and fast.
Other Thoughts: I game but not religiously. For what I play (Half Life 2, Counter Strike Source, Dungeon Siege 2) It does the job with a good video card.

Couldn't Be Better
Pros: Used for over three months with a GeForce 7600 GT with High graphics and have had little to no troubles. Chip works smooth and stays relatively cool, average 30C!
Cons: Heatsink and fan were difficult to install!
Other Thoughts: This chip is a must have for your everyday gamer!

Stable and Reliable Quality
Pros: Received CPU with bundled MOBO great speed for someone with a low budget excellent speed over old CPU which was an Athlon XP 3200 400FSB
Cons: None Yet
Other Thoughts: After my AGP slot failed my old Asus A7N8X deluxe MOBO I decided to step up and go with the AMD 64 and SLI PCI express, great choice.

yay
Pros: Inexpensive, fast solid.
Cons: I put it in my mom's computer, so that means I can't screw around and overclock it.
Other Thoughts: More processor than she will ever use. Ever. Extreme overkill for something to read email and word process.

Pros: great for a budget pc..good overall front side bus..can handles most sotwares with ease..
Cons: the heatsink is horrible..everyone buy a different heatsink..the fan will dies on you and it takes an army to install the thing..easy for dust to settle..
Other Thoughts: local store sells for twice the price..newegg is amazing..

Nice Processor for the money
Pros: As always AMD makes flawless products. It works very nicely without needing to OC
Cons: My client wanted me to try and OC it to 2.8 but it had a problem going over 2.6 with the Fox**** mobo I installed it on.
Other Thoughts: I found the Athlon 3700 with the 1MB Cache2 to be a much faster processor. I prefer Opterons myself but some of my clients refuse to believe an Opteron can work for them. Duh!

Great processor choice.
Pros: This does most everything that you'd expect a modern processor to do. Runs fast and stable. The included fan is fine.
Cons: This is a single-core processor. No dual execution, no hyperthreading (I'm not sure the latter even exists on AMD).
Other Thoughts: It's a nice, solid processor if you're not worried about joining the dual-core revolution.

Fast + quiet.
Pros: Excellent price for the performance. I needed it for BF2 and it seemed like it'd be a good fit since I don't want to spend crazy dollars for a dual core AM2 system when all I do is play BF2. This thing helped to get me over that performance hill in BF2 that my old Athlon XP @ 2.4 ghz couldn't do. Coupled with a GF 7950 KO Superclocked, I'm seeing probably an average of 55 fps at 1024 x 768 with everything on high and AA off, the minimum I've seen while playing was 35 fps and the max I've seen was 120 fps. I know another gig of ram could easily add 10 fps to what I'm seeing now.
Cons: Really just depends on what you're doing. I don't see any because I don't do any multi-tasking stuff and I'm not sure that games are really using dual cores to their full advantage as it is. The temperature really means nothing to me since I'm not overclocking and if it works without crashing that's really all that matters to me. But in case anyone does care about that, I was seeing 91F with the stock heatsink.
Other Thoughts: Pretty much what I expected for BF2, the game basically runs as smooth as can be for me being limited to 1024 mb of ram at the moment. This processor was the centerpiece of a recently constructed budget-minded system soley dedicated to playing BF2, so my fps and wallet are both looking great.

Great!
Pros: For the socket 939 this is the nicest processor I have used yet, my computer is leaned more towards the gaming side, Along with my Video card, it runs brand new games on High detail, couldnt do that before it.
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: Great Processor, may want to save up for Duel Core, I've heard only good things about those.

nice
Pros: Went from a athlon xp 2600+ to this 64bit thang. Found a open box asrock 939dual sata mobo barebone, flashed it and am running this babby idle at 34c. Im using it for general purpose, a linux DAW and playing games. Awesome fast product, and of coarse newegg is unsurpassed.
Cons: For this price you get 64bit and comes along with a fan? you have to be kidding. there are 0 cons
Other Thoughts: I cant wait to get a sata 2 drive to run with this sweet puppy

Great Value!
Pros: Rock solid performance, runs cool but fast, easy to overclock yet great when running at stock speeds. Terrific proc, at a great price!
Cons: none that I can think of...they won't breed if you put two of them in a dark spot for a few weeks? Thats about it.
Other Thoughts: absolutely the sweet spot for price vs performance, this is your best value for budget game systems and general purpose rigs...I LOVE IT!

Great CPU for the bucks!
Pros: Great right out of the box stays running at 38°C for me at 2.4Ghz but i have overclocked it to 2.8Ghz so far and still runs cool.
Cons: 512KB L2 Cache? but if ur a gamer like me i hear the the difference in FPS from 512KB and 1MB isn't much.
Other Thoughts: Hope on planing to reach 3.2Ghz ^_^
(system*/windows XP sp2 /AMD 3800+ /EvGA 7600GT 256mb / ASUS A8N-SLI Premium (***recommend for easy overclocking for people new to it.***)/1 gig RAM /160 gig. Western Digital HDD)

Awsome of a low budget system
Pros: Ive had this proc for about 3 weeks now and its performing very well for the price. This was an upgrade for my AMD 64 3000+ and I can definitly tell the diffrence. Its very good at overclocking even with the stock heatsink/fan, mines running stable at 2.6Ghz.
Cons: None so far as I can tell, Its not the best processor but its damned good for a budget system.
Other Thoughts: I wish this thing cost $xx back in april when I built my new system [My 3000+ cost around 111.00]

Good for Windows XP and ubuntu
Pros: If you just want to stick with Windows XP. Then you will be happy to have this CPU. Fast, quiet, and low temperature with original fan. For linux system, I have no problem to run live CD or to install. Overall, this CPU is not expensive wiht high performance.
Cons: not found yet
Other Thoughts: Beware! this CPU is socket 939. In other words, you don't have too much room to upgrade it with your old motherboard. However, I am not a big game player. I don't need the fast and the newest CPU at all. Moreover, will AM2 survive longer than 939? I don't know. socket 939 probably is still the most stable AMD system right now.

Pros: Went up from a 1.8 AMD-64 Everything loads faster. I can run BF2142 and CS on higher settings. If your into gaming and don't want to spend a lot of $$$ on the FX line or an AM2 build, this is the one. By the time you "need" to go with that stuff it will be a lot cheaper.
Cons: I've heard people say its "only single core"...then buy dual core if you need 14 processes running at the same time.

Great CPU for the money!
Pros: Wanted to upgrade my old XP2800 gamebox on the cheap. This CPU teamed with an inexpensive MB punts Donkey. I have been overclocking at 2.8 using the standard heatsink with a bigger fan i had and it is staying nice and cool.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Once you go AMD you never go back.

Pros: Shipped on time and recieved package in perfect condition. First computer I have built and worked when I started it for the first time. Quality parts from a quality store.
Cons: Somewhat difficult time putting heatsink/fan on motherboard, directions a little vauge for first time builder like myself.

Good Processor for the price
Pros: Does everything a processor should. Have not overclocked yet, but according to a friend that has one they have good overclocking potential. He was running around 3.0 - 3.2 with one of these and a gigabyte mobo.

Just some points
Pros: I owned this processor for a long time and I have already made a post earlier but I want everyone to know that this CPU is easily comparable to $xxx Ixxel dual cores.
Cons: It was fifty dollars more back when I got it...
Other Thoughts: I suggest anyone to get this, runs cool, runs fast, and doesn't even need to be overclocked to play stuff like Oblivion

cool & quiet
Pros: All you hear is the sound of the CPU fan when you turn your system on with this processor. I find software installs quicker with this processor than my previous slower speed one.
Cons: None

Great Price
Pros: Great overall processor. Overclocks very well, though I haven't taken it over 2600MHz (no voltage mods). Runs CS:S and BF2 great.
Cons: Not dual core, 512kb cache.
Other Thoughts: Got this back in July for 140. This current price is quite a bargain.

Outstanding gaming processor
Pros: This thing is a champ. It runs cool and has been rock solid. Has more than enough horsepower for anything I have thrown at it. The fan is reasonably quiet even when the RPMs kick up under load. Much cheaper than the dual-core processors and uses less power, but runs just as fast in many games and other single-threaded applications.
Cons: The heatsink clip on mine was a bit difficult to get on and off. When I took my processor out to put it on a different motherboard I had to press down hard on the heatsink clip with my hand and use a screwdriver to pry one side off even after it was unlocked to be able to remove it.
AMD uses more than one heatsink clip design apparently. I installed another A64 3800+ in an identical retail box that I got from a local store recently and it had a slightly different heatsink clip mechanism that was very easy to attach and detach, so which one you get may vary and could be a luck-of-the-draw thing. It didn't matter much to me once everything was together and in place since I don't take it on and off in normal use.

Excellent Single Core Processor
Pros: It came in my Dads Hewlett Packard Pavilion A1330n, it is a wonderful performing processor. Once paired with the right specifications you can have a wonderful single-core gaming PC.
Cons: 512Kb cache decreases performance.
Other Thoughts: If you want 1Mb Cache, get the 4000+ for a few dollars more.

cheap hi-end performance
Pros: Its cheap, its an amd, it's a venice core. Overclocking this thing is easy and it can go to a pretty stable 2.8 if you really want. but it's better to keep your fan speeds down and leave it where it's at b/c you still get great performance.
Cons: It's not free
Other Thoughts: This thing will humiliate any p4 that you can buy for the same price. my intel fanatic friend spent 25% more on a 3.2ghz p4. I still get better frame rates, and he's still mad.

Good CPU
Pros: this is a great cpu. the price you pay is basicly robbing amd. it performs great. i run halo,limewire,aim,itunes,web-browsing,and doom 3 all at the same time with no lag..no lie. also very overclockable. i have had it up to 2.8 but the heat does get fairly high at that level so i clocked back down to 2.65. but to be honest there is rly no reaosn to overclock.
Cons: i dont get my school work done now cuz i would usually do it while i was waiting for my old cpu to load my programs
Other Thoughts: they wouldnt let me talk ghetto in this message box. but this cpu is the ****

Pros: Great speed...Nice upgrade from my old 3000+
Cons: Heat sink is a piece...it ended up Burning my chip. with the supplied heatsink i was running 75C+...a poor design.
Other Thoughts: I used my old Heatsink from my 3000+ and it keeps it below 65C now

Can't beat it for the price
Pros: Fast for a single core processor. Price vs performance is great. Perfect processor for my daughters system. Install is a simple as can be. Stock cooler is fine. Run cool like most AMD single cores (FX's excluded).
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Big improvement over a P4. I'm not a fanboy but AMD single cores crush P4's on cost and performance.

Pros: This is a great processor hands down. Performance gains based on the Venice core alone where worth the buy.

Sweet Value Point
Pros: At just under $100, this is the sweet spot for this performance/price point. Also, included CPU heat sink/fan works great.

Good and Bad
Pros: Fast processor and great price
Cons: Terrible locking arm on heatsink. The arm does not have the locking hook on it to keep the arm in place causing multiple heat related crashes. Put stock heatsink from AMD 64 3000 on and am now up and running.

that stae of america speech to america speech
Pros: ive never built an intel pc. i never will. im stuck with themat the office but in my world, nothing up here runs like an amd. this chip will really get your balls rolling. ive blinked a couple of times and missed some of the action. little3 change in heat between load and idle. handles 69 tasks easily.
Cons: lg15 is still there, but this makes her vanish quickly.
Other Thoughts: time to make some more. i live alone and have an in-home lan. if i can get six up, thats a good night.

Great Processor
Pros: Excellent processor for the price. Couldn't be happier. A week after i got it i oc'ed it to a whopping 2.6 at 1.4v runs wonderfully. It runs real cool 30c idel and 40 max under a full load
Cons: socket 939, only because the new socket AM2 is out and for about the same price you can get this processor
Other Thoughts: If your looking for a cheap processor that performs great i recommend this.

2.6 right out of the box
Pros: Cheap. Got it to 2.6 without really doing anything much. I would go further but all I have is cheap parts. Great for gaming, especially all the old games.
Cons: Single core in a multi-core world. I have a dual core 4400 in my primary box and I guess I’m spoiled but even though this cpu is clocked higher, it feels twice as slow when booting up and when trying to do a lot of tasks.
Other Thoughts: In retrospect, I should have gone with a cheap dual core instead. My logic was that this processor will only be used in a secondary/back-up/LAN-party gaming box; I thought that this would be sufficient. But every time I do something non-gaming I feel like this processor is having a hard time. Anyhow, its good for the money, but I would go dual-core instead.

POOR RMA POLICY ON CPU's
Pros: great cpu we all know, set the benchmark and put AMD on top 2 years ago.
Cons: No problems with cpu except not compatible with my mobo, Newegg has terrible RMA policy on CPU's beware u only get 7 days and it took 5 days for the item to get here, so i only had 2 days to file RMA, They blamed manufacture for lousey RMA policy

Good, but.....
Pros: Ability to run MOST AGP cards, not all.
Cons: Had alot of problems getting a geforce 6800gs running correctly in this board. Had to get a PCI express gfx card and sell the old 6800gs, something about the PCI-E to AGP translator chip.
Other Thoughts: Can be a pain to get setup with AGP, tho its possible, just make sure to follow the instructions and install the agp driver BEFORE graphics driver.

Great Stuff Here!
Pros: Bought 2 of these, one oc to 2.6 and the other 2.8 both on epox 9nda3 The one that oc to 2.8 uses crosair xmx with 8.3.3.3 timming. These cpu fly with just a small oc and games are smooth as glass. Buy as many as you can, there awesome.
Cons: Not x2 - Not 1 meg L2 OEM :) Not Conroe
Other Thoughts: Both of my 3800 are cooled with the outstanding BLUR ORB II cooler. Uper 30c Idle and Mid 40's Load.

Solid performer
Pros: Solid CPU, cool running, even with stock fan. Have it running at 2.65ghz stock heatsink and an extra fan, 39c full load, 31c idle.
Cons: its life is limited as socket 939 is going bye bye.
Other Thoughts: great bang for the buck, came from an overclocked athlon xp 2500. This cpu spanks that platform, especially in memory performance using the same RAM.

AMD
Pros: AMD has really created a winner with this o Athlon 64 3800+ is very fast and is fairly dominant in gaming for this price range From a performance/price stand point the 3800+ should be a no brainer for gamers
Cons: not 1
Other Thoughts: buy it

DOA!
Pros: These are great Processors, I have an Athlon64 3200 already and this 3800 was meant to replace it, so I could use the 32 in another system.
But the 3800 was DOA right out of the box! It would not Boot and would not POST, and this is on an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe. I took the 3800 out and popped the 3200 back, and the system suddenly worked fine.
NewEgg gave a prompt RMA and I am shipping the chip back now for a full refund... I decided I'd rather put a Dual Core on that Asus now instead.
Cons: Chip arrived DOA.
Newegg should pay return shipping costs on DOA products.

Pros: When I was First looking at a new CPU for my new computer I was looking at the 3500+ but then I saw this for 99 bucks. So I had to get this. I already have it over clocked to about 2.789585 Ghz and it is stay cool.
Cons: None

Works great!
Pros: OS boots much faster, before I had an AMD Sempron (not sure the number) 1.4ghz processor. Although there are more powerful choices, this really does well for me. Speeds up OS functions and gaming it does the job well.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: As I read up about the dual cores and what not, I feel better about choosing this one as a first build, and I'm glad I chose it.

reviews were too hyped
Pros: very easy to understand instructions, overclocks rather easily, and will stick with amd for a while longer. who needs intel
Cons: well to put it quite simply i could get much more performance out of this processor if the stock heatsink did a better job. did not quite live up the the hype of all the reviews
Other Thoughts: well long story short i had an old prebuilt emachines and started upgrading well im now at the mobo and processor swap stage and bought this processor from newegg and did not do my research. it turns out i bought i 939 socket and my mobo was 754. !!!!!! what to do...so quick fix went back to newegg and bought the cheapest 939 board i could find biostar nvidia 6100 i think. this was my first swap of the sorts so it was a learning experience for me. go newegg shipping was two days!!! upgrade from my 1.99 athlon.

Budget processor dream
Pros: Couldn't be happier..for the price. I play BF2 and have absolutely no need to even try overclocking. Upgraded from a 1.6, wow this thing is quiet and screams compared to my old one. When I was doing this build I had this processor running for 11 hours and stuck my finger on the heat sink...it felt like cold metal.
Cons: 939's future? Don't really care though as I honestly feel that this processor will hold up tenfold for the small price I've paid.
Other Thoughts: 2 gigs of xms corsair ram, ASRock dualvista mobo, and an old 9600pro graphics card = BF2 Delight. Next move updating graphics card.

Pros: Ordered last week and recieved a LEBDE 0631 E6 Stepping. It's one of the best processors I've ever owned. Runs 2.7 GHz at 1.45v easily on air. Well worth the upgrade from my 3200+ Winchester that couldn't break 2.3 GHz with any amount of voltage.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Cheap, fast, and cool. What more could you want?

Pros: This baby can munch anything I throw at it, hl2 doom 3, FEAR, FarCry, all with the filtering MAXED etc. etc. SMOOTH AS SILK.
Cons: None!
Other Thoughts: Also this is because I am running a 7900GS XT (factory overclocked by xfx) but the processor is whats doing all the other work. Also I'm running two gigs of corsair xms PC3200.

Pros: Well I was running low on cash but I needed a comp fast. So i built myself a midrange PC with this CPU. Im coming from a 3200+. THis one is much faster even tho I have half the RAM that i did when i was using the 3200+.
Cons: Not a Dual-Core.
Other Thoughts: Still a great series of processors. Way to go AMD.

Amazing
Pros: It was cheap, has run great, fast. As soon as I got this, I decided to see what it could do. Paired with Ballistix, it broke the 3 ghz mark...this was after I was told by an oc forumn that it was impossible to do with a Venice core cpu.
Cons: I wanted 1 mb cache. Decided to go with an FX-55
Other Thoughts: This thing is wonderful. Amazing overclocks and snappy performance are what this thing does best. I upgraded to this from the 3200. Both were great to me. I am selling this one to a friend cause I got in on the FX-55 bandwagon when the prices fell. 1 MB cache here I come!!

Greased Lightning
Pros: I have an Asus A8v-E Deluxed MB and originally installed the x64 3000+. While that was fast, I wanted more speed and performance. The 3800+ delivers well. This thing can keep up in most regards with the FX series for half the cost or less. Games never loaded so fast or looked so smooth.
Cons: None that I can think of at the moment.
Other Thoughts: I would consider buying one of these and pocketing the change you will have saved buy not buying the FX series...or better yet...buy a better graphics card.

Pros: fast. faster. really really fast compared to what im used to in socket a builds. it makes all the whistles and bells do what is needed. no problems at all. i have it in the rosewill tu-155 case and it runs at about 27c under load.
Cons: ill have to get back to you should i encounter one.
Other Thoughts: i have built several machines as gifts. my stock in trade was the socket a. boy, did my friends just get lucky. 64 bit from here on out. from newegg of course.

Pros: Works a little faster than the Athlon 64 3200 that I replaced. Used my previous CPU fan and not the stock fan that came with this one.
Cons: None so far.

Great CPU
Pros: Excellent CPU. Easy overclock. With stock cooling i have it overclocked to 3.0 Ghz 12*250=3000. WITH STOCK COOLING and no problems.
Cons: installing the stock heatsink was a little difficult but not too hard if you know what you are doing.
Other Thoughts: Price has gone down since i bought it for xxx bucks
