$75 (and shipping too) is worth it
Pros: overclockable, stable, runs cool with the stock cooler. fast, efficient, overall awesome little piece of hardware.
Cons: not very easy to overclock with the biostar n4slia9 board. other than that? none whatsoever
Other Thoughts: The 2.2ghz is now running at 2.73 ghz on the board mentioned in the cons. that's a setting of 247 with a multiplier of 11. The board wont let me set the clock any higher, I keep getting an overclock warning and it forces the clock back to 2.2ghz. So I almost have a 2.8

Pros: A good solid CPU. Very good performance for a single core. Has a 1Mb L2 Cache which is big plus on certain apps. Pretty much last of the 939 socket 90nm chips.
Cons: More expensive than it should be for an end of life product. A little hot.
Other Thoughts: Good CPU fpr cheap solid system which will run VISTA

Great proc
Pros: For a budget gaming build, this is absolutely great. I remember this processor being $250 a couple of years ago. San Diego is the better core (1MB L2 shows a difference).
Cons: None. It is what it is. Dual cores are the "in" thing now, but for a gaming PC on a budget, this is a great processor.
Other Thoughts: I OC'd up to 2.4GHz with relative ease. If I had better than value RAM in there I could get it well above 2.8GHz.

Great CPU at a great price
Pros: Got this to replace my Barton 2500+. This just smokes it away, and you can't beat the price. Fast shipping and great service as usual from newegg.
Cons: None that I can think of.

3700 = awesome
Pros: I've had this proc now for over a year and it pwns. As if it isn't stressed enough by other people; buy a good power supply and motherboard so you can overclock this bad boy. It really is worth spending the xtra for expandability. If you aren't going dual core you should seriously consider this proc. If newegg doesn't have it get it somewhere's else (hint newegg: GET IT!)
Cons: I've heard that lower L2 cache procs can overclock to higher speeds. But really, when you overclock this only to 2.4 ghz im sure it pwns any 3200+ overclocked to 2.6ghz.
Other Thoughts: I wasn't sure about what another poster said about it likes to be overclocked, but I recently went from AGP to PCI-e (also from ATI to Nvidia) and I bought an ABIT AN8-32X (cheap, stable, full sli mobo) and with this I got nTune (which is the awesomest program ever for lazy overclockers). So, I'm monitoring my stock clocks with NV monitor and I notice that when I'm at stock my processor is yellow but when I'm overclocked 10-15% it is green. I also noticed that when I overclocked my proc and my 7800gt I never dropped below 100fps in counter-strike: source (iceworld with 5 other people). Before in when it got a little crazy I'd drop to 75 fps so it is a very noticable boost for me. For now on I'm leaving it overclocked 10% during the day for the sheer resonsiveness you wouldn't think the difference is noticable but it is.

Quick Install
Pros: Real quick installation. I had a slower version on my Mother Board and the Fan died. For only a few dollars more, I added a faster processor with the fan and heat sink included. What a deal!
Cons: None at this time.

Good value
Pros: This is a very good, stable and fast CPU. Does everything needed and at an affordable price, including games, work-related and web too. A very good value
Cons: non that I can see...
Other Thoughts: sparse info/manual. Do your homework to know what to expect before getting any hardware.

Overclock it!
Pros: Fast, cheap, runs cool. 1MB of cache. Overclocks very well. I've managed to get 230MHz FSB (2.5GHz) out of this baby at stock voltage.
Cons: Out of stock these days. Not really that fast without overclocking (My P4 2.8GHz Dell @ work seems quicker). Not really a con unless your system doesn't support overclocking.
Other Thoughts: Overclock it! It is much faster and just as stable at 10%-15% OC. It seems to prefer being overclocked as the apparent speed jumps drastically w/ just 5% OC. It'll go past 2.7GHz with the right hardware

GREAT PRODUCT
Pros: This processor is very nice for the price. I had NO problems at all with it and it's worth every last penny!
Cons: NONE AT ALL other then the fan could be better. You have to be extremely careful when seating the heat sink and then fastening it down. No room for error here.
Other Thoughts: Newegg sells yet another great product and saves you big bucks for shopping with them! Stay Newegg and you can't go wrong!

The 'bomb bizzle'...
Pros: as 'they' say...
Fast, cheap, 1MB cache, wonderfully overclockable...
Cons: Out of stock as of 2/28/07? Feel sorry for you...
Other Thoughts: This processor is an excellent value considering the first thing I did was set crank it up from 2.2 to 2.4Ghz with no increase in vcore, Prime95 says its happy...of course, when I bought it the 3700+ was a lot cheaper than the 4000+...

Cons: None as of yet

Awesome
Pros: Outstanding performance at an unbeatable price. Upgrading from an Athlon XP 2800+ system this cpu dramatically drops application load times and offers lightning fast boot times. Coupled with 7800GT this system runs BF2142 at max detail with out even breaking a sweat. Overclocks 200+ MHz on stock cooling, without even touching the core voltage. Just an all around spectacular processor. Not only is it a bargain but it saves the expense of purchasing new DDR2 Ram. If your upgrading from a DDR system like I was, this is a welcomed attribute.
Cons: Theres not enough to go around due to AMD's decision to use the the AM2 socket.
Other Thoughts: System:
Athlon 3700+ San Diego @ 2.4GHz
Asus A8N-E
eVGA Geforce 7800GT(an absolute steal if you get the recertified package)
2GB Corsair TwinX
560W Silverstone SST-ST56ZF PSU.

Value, but limited for Vista
Pros: Excellent price, Cool'n'Quiet = it is quiet.
Cons: Need Dual core under Vista, XP is ok.
Other Thoughts: Not recommended for video intensive use under Vista. To enable Cool'n'Quiet use "Balanced setting" under Power-Control Panel + CNQ enabled in BIOS.

Fantastic buy, Very fast
Pros: Reasonable price and very reliable, receoved in three days, runs extremely cool
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I wanted to move up from my old 754 so I went with the 939 because of the bargain pricing. I am very satisfied with this 939 mounted on a MSI motherboard with 2 gig, 256mb dual DVI video card. The performance is great. I use this for video assembly that are used for product presentations and during the compiling process my other machine with a Pentium D would run very hot, it would go to 53C even though it has a huge Gigabyte heat pipe finned cooler and fan. I cannot believe the difference; I tested the new system with Sandra for 9 straight days running 24/7 and not once did the temperature exceed 40C. I am running this in a Antec LanBoy case with the Gigabyte SC Ball CPU Cooler. Great value for the money!!!! now running at a maximum of

Outstanding Performance
Pros: This is the second one of these I have bought, and I am thoroughly satisfied with their performance. Windows XP Pro is at desktop and ready to start apps within 40-45 seconds of turning on the power. All apps from normal to heavy games perform flawlessly.

Great buy!
Pros: What can I say, Its AMD 64, faster then my last Pentium 4 3.2 mhz by far, Yes by far. This is my third AMD processor and i have had no problems with them what so ever. Great price also.
Cons: It won't make me dinner? :P
Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this to anyone that has been stuck with the pentium craze, AMD just blows it away seriously.

3700+ second review
Pros: This processor is great, i bought it last summer and it has been running great. I had been running it OCed at 2.53ghz, and recently i began raising it a bit more. I have reached stable overclocks near 2.9ghz on the stock fan and heatsink, with only very small increases in heat. idle went from 32C to 34C when i went from 2.35 to 2.8. great proc, but dont get it now, to old.
Cons: price dropped by about $100 after i bought it

Awesome
Pros: Obviously a fantastic chip. What 64 chip from AMD isnt?
Cons: They arent going to make anymore! :(
Other Thoughts: I love how cheap these chips have gotten. Since I build so many computers, and these chips have fallen in price so much, I have made a ton of profit.

It made my day
Pros: Rock solid CPU. I was looking at some numbers this cpu put when it barely came out and it beat the P4 3.4GHz Extreme Edition with a very impressive lead. The P4 now runs you at about one forty, almost double the price of the AMD Athlon 64 3700+.
Cons: Nada
Other Thoughts: I bought this CPU to build a Media Center Computer. Know your needs and make sure the components you are using match.

AMD Athlon 60 3700+
Pros: Great product from AMD! OC'ed to 2.5GHz (250 x 10) easily with stock HS, and idles at 40°C and is at 50°C under load. Temps are with stock HS.
Cons: These processors are failed Toledo cores, and have 1 core disabled. (Mine was anyway)
Other Thoughts: This is my first ever build, and this is truly a great product.

Bwdsmart
Pros: fast proc, easly oc'd too 2.6 temps round 39c under load. my motherboard is limiting factor on oc'ing. runs all games fine, and cheap for the 1mb l2 cache.
Cons: not dualcore, still multitasks fairly well though.
Other Thoughts: makes a great gaming rig for the value. athlon 3700 gigabyte g8u-939 mobo 1gig patriot memory 2 hitachi 80gigs in raid 0 nvidia gf 6800 agp.... runs bf2, america's army, and counterstrike on high settings fairly easly.

Great bang for buck!
Pros: Bought this to replace a 3000+ Winchester that was going into another system. Off the back I OC'd it to 2500 on stock air and voltage. From what I understand this isn't a SanDiego core but a disabled Toledo but that really doesn't bother me much as long as it performs. The 1MB 2nd lvl cache is nice and I've noticed a nice jump in performance especially when I'm reencoding DVD files with the same mobo I was using the 3000 with.
Cons: None really except the day after I bought this the price dropped almost 20% but thats the way these things sometimes roll and it's worth every penny I paid for it.
Other Thoughts: I wish there was a way to reenable the 2nd core on this guy.

Cons: none that i can tell, i run autocad, and bunch of other high consumption games and software and it rarely crashes
Other Thoughts: still a great buy 2 years later, especially now thats its under $xxx, haha (it was $xxx when i bought it)

to the comment i made before
Pros: It's an AMD
Cons: none yet
Other Thoughts: It's not the processor that died, it's the board. Sadly I have to take my machine all apart again, and re-pack everything that came with the board and send it back.

Cons: I never found a con with AMD.

NIce 'n' cool
Pros: runs realy kewl with stock cooling, havent really overclocked it much past 2.4, im new to OCin, but not to computers but at 2.4 it runs really stable, i like it.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: great for my step-dad who wanted to get out of the stone age with his 7 year old socket 370, the 939 seems really stable and the whoe thing was under 550 dollars 430 watt PSU, AMD 3700+,2x512mb ATA DDR400, 160 GB WD cavier, foxconn mobo (the only thing i hate), 1600 pro 512mb ati radon videa card. this machine runs liek a beast for him, doesnt do much gamin, but her loves it!

Great CPU
Pros: Worked right out of the box. Does not generate as much heat as you would expect. Tried Linux Fedora Core 6 x64 and Windows Vista Business x64 - no problems at all. If you add free and fast shipping from NewEgg - nothing could beat such a deal.!
Cons: So far I do not have any problems using it.
Other Thoughts: AMD CPU labels could confuse some people (not me), so read carefully Athlon 3700 does not mean 3.7GHz, it is 2.2GHz.

Super-Nice CPU
Pros: This is a really great CPU for what I've built it around. This CPU handles everything I throw at it with ease. It stays moderately cool with the stock heatsink and fan.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: This CPU is great for a budget build. Definately a great improvement from an old Pent. III. I love the stability and the way this thing stays cool. AMD definately has a great line of products.

Blazing Fast
Pros: I put on stock heatsink with artic silver 5 and had this baby clocked at 2.75 ghz. It can boot up at 2.90 ghz but it wasn't stable. Finally got it running stable at 2.8 but decided to lower it to 2.75 to hit that sweet spot so hypertransport can still run at 1000 mhz. Had to use ram divider. Whats more amazing was that I was using stock heatsink. it was around 34 degree idle and goes up to 45 degree on load.
Cons: Only con was that it was a single core.

Awesome Overclocker
Pros: AWESOME. I have Overclocked this baby at 2.42 GHz on stock cooling keeping it below 43 degrees celcius. I would recomended this. Plays games like nothing. Started right up out of the box.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Buy this for the price. Wait till the dual core CPU's come down in price.

happy happy, joy joy
Pros: The same kernel compiled in 2/3 the time it took my XP Barton with similar memory (though not dual channel) and the same core clock speed, in pure 32-bit mode. And it runs so much cooler, I want to build 4 more of these computers just to save power... but the time saved would be better still. All my people are waiting for PIII's with PC133 and PC100 to cope with the workload...
Cons: Huh?
Other Thoughts: Socket 939 seems to be going out like 478, so the necessary motherboard (and thus memory as well) won't be entirely upgrade-friendly... but PC3200 is so cheap now and this generation of chip suits me so well, I don't care. Only virtualization support could make me happier.

Pros: I bought this for my shop computer when they first came out. Right out of the box I OCd it to go faster than an FX and it has been very stable now for almost a year.

Best value....
Pros: I took about a week comparing all the specs of the Athlon 64 processors, this was the easiest to decide, it overclocks nicely, is a solid 64bit processor, and the difference in this and the rest of the athlon processors doesn't justify the price difference! Check out the specs and you will see!
Cons: The Heatsink and fan were a bear to get on! The directions suck! a little patience and a lot of force gets it done, do the opposite side from the locking lever first! Shipping on this order was way sad, by everyones count it was over 4 days! Pay the extra get the 2 day then you might get it in 3!
Other Thoughts: I got this as part of a combo deal with the Biostar 6100-M9 mobo. a very easy install apart from the heatsink and fan, it runs great, and instantly OC'd to 2.44ghz on stock cooling with temp staying at 36c!

Good choice
Pros: Runs Cool Great Price
Cons: Plastic clasp on the heat sink feels cheap and flimsy
Other Thoughts: I was torn between this and the 3800+ Venice core. This one was cheaper and after some research, I found that the San Diego chips outperformed the Venice chips of the same rating by about 10%, so this was a no brainer. Now my machine runs faster, smoother, and the exhaust fans blow out cool air now, instead of hot air. It was a win all the way around.

Nice!
Pros: This processor (stock speed) kills my AMD 2500+ Barton overclocked on 2.4GHz easy. It runs anything I throw at it. Stock cooling is dead quiet and it holds CPU below 50c under heavy load. This processor is highly overclockable, so far I've got it to work on 2.8GHz, but I've heard that it can go over 3GHz, just needs better cooling which is my next step.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Cheap, nice upgrade which you wont regret. 1MB cache just spices up already nice processor. I've got 40fps increase in CSS on stock speed.

Cheap Upgrade
Pros: Paid only $xx for it, 1MB L2 cache, 2.2GHz (just specs, duh) and runs well. Idle temps around 32-34C
Cons: None, as far as the processor goes.
Other Thoughts: I bought this as a cheap, quick upgrade from a 3000+, I haven't OC'ed it yet, but plan on doing so sometime, just to see what I can get. Heard of peeps hitting 2.7GHz+ on air cooling with this, I did have a problem with my mobo and this chip, had to flash the BIOS a couple times so it'd recognize (MSI can't get their stuff together, if you use the update util, you probably won't have the newest version BIOS, I had 3.3, while 3.4, 9.2, 9.4 never showed up to flash... MSI's fault though not AMD)

Pros: Ihave it OC'ed to 2.4 Ghz. very fast (for what it is) very stable. runs cool with stock fan/heatsink. have had no problems with it. at today's prices this will make a great buget gamer.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Setup is: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, 2G corser XMS, XFX 7950 GT EX. went away from SLI setup w/ 2 6800GT due to case heat which blew 1 of the cards. Processor handled all very will. One 7950 works far better then 2x6800's.

Great CPU, mediocre HSF
Pros: AMD!
Cons: CPU is great, but the HSF is somewhat hard to install, as it takes a fair amount of force to attach or remove the clip, and the locking lever also takes surprising force, making you wonder if you're doing something wrong and might break it.
Maybe I have an aggressive retainer on my mobo, but it's haed to excuse the fact that the screwdriver push tab BROKE OFF while installing. Luckily the clip's shape caught the screwdriver before it ripped into the board's traces.
Other Thoughts: The 1st all-new computer I built used an AMD 586, and I've been using AMD ever since. If I were to build this system again though, I'd just get the CPU and choose a separate HSF.

Excellent Substitution
Pros: Very Over clockable. Higher than i expected.
Cons: I was looking at the 939 AMD 4000 but they were out so i went with the 3700...

Pros: Very quick at stock speed, large l2 cache, easily overclockable. I am not a hardcore overclocker but I have it OC'ed about 10% from 2.2 to 2.4 on air no voltage changes.
Cons: not a con but I think it will be faster when my second RAM stick gets here for ddr400.

Great But
Pros: Runs at ~31C at idle with stock heatsink, works fine, 1 MB L2 cache
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: great buy for a dying socket; was worried because the tray that held processor was shattered when it arrived, so there were specks of biodegradable foam all over heaksink, but the box looked fine. Whatever, CPU works great.

Great CPU
Pros: Easy install, my first time for 939 socket chip. Stock cooler is holding about 34C at idle. This is my first 64 bit chip; bought on reviews here and I am not disappointed.
Cons: None, other than the price will probably go down now!
Other Thoughts: Installed in new MSI K8N Neo4-F mobo, 2 Cosair VS512MB400, and Evga 7300GT, all from Newegg. All arrived in great shape and inside 3 days promised.
Replaces a XP2600+ in GA-7N400L. It was a great combo but wanted more umph for video editing.

It lives!
Pros: ive had this for over a year and its been oc'd to 2.6 on a stock heatsink since the first week i got it. never went over 48c on load and runs completely stable.
Cons: my fan "amd" sticker was crooked... (its dumb). and i couldnt rip it off.. i had to take a little tape and make a 'counter-weight' otherwise it would make this faint vibrating sound which got on my nerves
Other Thoughts: its now 1/3 the price of when i first bought it but it stands strong for its age and i plan on using it for quite awhile longer

Good stopgap
Pros: It's a lot better than my old 3500+ clawhammer 130nm. I could only get that one o 2.42ghz, and this one I can get to 2.64ghz without much of a voltage increase. It also runs a lot cooler than my 3500+.
Cons: Rated in the order of severity:
- Hasn't given me head yet. - Not dual core. But hey, for eighty bucks, who cares?
Other Thoughts: C2Q, here I come.. well maybe in 6-8 months.

Cons: none regarding the processor. see others.

Its a Toledo X2 with 1 core disabled
Pros: Runs fine with small overclock. Avg.~2.65GHz.Air
Cons: Won't overclock well without some sub-zero cooling.
Other Thoughts: The newest chips that the egg is sending out are CCBWE chips. They are actually Toledo cores X2 (not SanDeigo) with 1 core disabled. Like previously stated;they will not be great air oc'ers, but with sub-zero cooling you might see 3.2GHz. These are E6 revisions.

3700 San Diego
Pros: I don't want to speak so well of this CPU/Heatsink combo that they run out of it before I can order several more for myself. I think it's the best processor ever made for the money.
Runs very cool and fast, very easy to install, if you can tie your own shoe laces you'll find this installs just as easily.
Excelent product and recieved in less than 3 days via standard UPS. This is the newer v6 unit, I got the older v4, and there is no difference other than this one runs a tad cooler, but my v4 runs at 32c idle & 36c load on stock air.
This v6 is lower priced than v4 because they made more of these and passed on the savings.
Cons: AMD should continue the socket 939, in the real world there is no better socket.
Other Thoughts: I switched to NewEgg and I'm very happy with their service.
Online retail is the very best way to get any of your items.

Nice Processor
Pros: Very fast. Can overclock and comes with features to overclock.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: This processor is very nice. I don't even have to overclock this processor to get great speed in games (running Oblivion on Ultra High with 1024x768 resolution) or loading Windows or other apps. Definitely recommend.

Sticky heatsink
Pros: Might be a good/fast processor considering the L2 size.
Cons: The Abit AN8 32x board died after the first few hours and decided to RMA the next day after work. but then i removed the heatsink of the CPU and... the CPU came out with it, stuck onto the heatsink, with the original stock thermal paste that was on!!!! I've been building systems since the mid 1990's but never seen such thing! I did not pull hard or break/bent any pins.. it was just a perfect processor stuck onto the sink as if i'd used superglue! So i decided to get my refund on the bad board and strange CPU.
Other Thoughts: The CPU had a 2005 date (ccbwe 0549 wpmw). I assume the thermal paste was same age and that's why it dried out/stuck. Just make sure you'll wipe out the original thermal paste and use good paste so that you dont get same issue. you have been warned! I'll still buy CPUs, cables and other stuff you cant find cheaply in stores from newegg. I wish they would still carry socket A processors...

Cheap and good!!
Pros: Very cheap. Easy to overclock. Very fast if you don't need dual cores (most games don't use them anyway). Not intel. Did I mention cheap?
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: For $xxx (after rebate on vc), I got this chip, BFM 7600GT, Abit MB. Upgrading from P4 2.6 OC to 3.0 and Radeon 9700. 3dmark score tripled, frame rate in FS2004 Doubled, FSX is not a slide show. OC to 2610MHZ on stock cooling/voltage @38C. Will push it harder soon...

Good for stock speeds
Pros: Runs well at stock speeds. Stays fairly cool, and seems fairly snappy compaired to my old 2400mobile XP.
Cons: Purchased this with expectations of at least 2.8GHz,but it needed to many volts to run that high, therefore running to hott. The latest chips steppings are CCBWE,and are late 2005 chips. I was told they are the worst OC'ers for a SanDeigo chip. :(
Other Thoughts: I wish I would have purchased a Conroe instead of this,I just didn't want to buy new ram. O'well maybe later this year. Thanks Newegg for speedy deleivery. thumbs up.

2nd best but great choice
Pros: I GOT THIS CPU BACK IN SEP.2006 AND IT HAS WORKED GREAT FOR ME. IT WAS MY 2ND CHOICE IN AN AMD CPU MY 1ST CHOICE WAS THE 4000+ MAINLLY BECAUSE OF THE 1MB CATCH BUT SEEING THAT THE 3700+ HAD THE SAME I FELL BACK TO IT BECAUSE OF MY CASH ON HAND AT THE TIME. ALSO NEWEGG HAS THE BEST MOST ALSOME PRICES ON CPU'S PERIOD. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS CPU THIS IS MY FIRST COMPLETE COMPUTER BUILD AND NEWEGG AND AMD MADE EVERYTHING WORK OUT PERFECT HAD NO PROBLEM WHAT SO EVER. HAVE EX.SERISE CASE 2 512MB GEIL MEM. MSI MB SEGATE 120MB HD ATA AN LG DVD BURNER WITH LITE SCRIBE AND A RADION X1300PRO VIDEO CARD. EVERYTHING WORKS AND CAME TOGETHER FINE. THE CPU NEVER REALLY GETS THAT HOT ONLY 28'C TO 42'C AND ALL MY SOFTWARE AND GAME RUN JUST FINE I'M SOO HAPPY YOU JUST DON'T KNOW....
Cons: NO CONS IT ARRIVED ON TIME WITH NO DAMAGE IN PERFECT CONDITION CAN YOU BEAT THAT I'M JUST HAPPY!!
Other Thoughts: FOR THOSE OTHERS OUT THERE WHEN IT COMES TO MAKING A CHOISE IN A CPU LET THAT BE YOUR LONGEST THOUGHT BEFORE YOU DECIDE.

A Mega Deal
Pros: AMD continues to bring the power at a reasonable price-point. The gig of cache this CPU has makes it an exceptional performer.
Cons: CPU/Fan arrived with internal packaging scrambled (that's what "Brown" did for me), with the fan and cpu rattling around inside the factory-sealed box.
Other Thoughts: In spite of the "tender handling" noted above, the CPU is performing flawlessly. More testimony to the ruggedness of this CPU. Great pricing from NewEgg: sweet.
