Rating + 5 I could live on Optys all day long...

Pros: Hits 2.81 GHz w/o even touching the voltage (312x9/HTx4). Idles @ ~25C, Stresses @ ~36C (using a Noctua HU9B with 2 92mm fans & no lapping yet). Set the DDR800 to 266MHz (2.1v-802MHz-4-4-44-12-2T). Great price for a very, very "up-to-it" proc.

Cons: My first Opty :-( BTW: I got the plain HS, (would have been nice to have gotten the heatpiped version).

Other Thoughts: Gonna be getting another one, not sure which model yet...but a 1GHz right outta the box is superb. Running Orthos stress-test (priority9/small FFTs) for 3+hrs while posting this review!

Pros: overclocks nicely with stability, price.

Cons: price dropped after purchased, but thats expected. 9 Multipilier

Other Thoughts: I have this processor on an K9A Platinum 4X512M Viesta RAM, Liquid cooled with custom system and Apogee GT waterblock.
9X300 for 2700 MHz. Could eaisly clock higher given the proper RAM to do so.

Rating + 5 WOW

Pros: I love it. Runs very, very cool. 29C idle, havent loaded it yet. Falls in the 4500 range for 3Dmark06 CPU tests. Best price for 2mbL2 cache, and very stable. Easy OC.

Cons: Wish it was slightly cheaper, but still well priced.

Other Thoughts: My pc, Gigabyte GA-M57SLI, this, 1gig Super Talent 900Mhz ram, MSI 8600GT OC. Runs great, plays DX10 Lost Planet 4xAA with HDR @1280X720 26fps.

Rating + 5 Opty 1210 FT\/\/!

Pros: High grade silicon, easily goes above factory settings.

Cons: Didn't get a heat pipe cooler but I'm just being picky.

Other Thoughts: Why go for the 1212 when you can get the 1210 and OC it? I'm running at 2.0Ghz and only adjusted the HT. I got it up to 2.6Ghz, but my RAM is way to cr@ppy to go higher. The CPU can go much higher. I can see how ppl can get to 3.0Ghz easy.

Rating + 5 Nice Overclocker

Pros: ~2.82 GHz at stock voltage (320 x 9) with OCZ Platium XTC 1100 DDRII RAM.

Inexpensive, some of the best performance per buck out there.

Great for builing a high end system on a budget.

Combine it with the GA-M61P-S3 or the GA-MA69G-S3H, or any under $100 motherboard and you can build a monster system for under $600
Opty 1210
R6423 case
GA-MA69G-S3H (HDMI out HDCP compatible)
Crucial Ballistic 1066 DDRII
74 GB Raptor
and you have yourself a nice HTPC at stock or gaming rig if you can handle a little overclocking.

Cons: Luck of the draw in getting heatpipe cooling solution. I ordered two of them and one came with a heatpipe cooler.

Guess I'm going to get a Ninja or Tuniq Tower now, before I really push the second one.

Other Thoughts: C2D still holds performance crown. You can hit 500+ FSB on many 965 boards with 6 x multiplier and 1:1 RAM timings. If you can afford it and really want every bit of performance go Intel. For the average user AMD is more cost effective.

Rating + 5 Love It

Pros: Overclocked to 2.4ghz stable. DVD video encoding is much faster than my old P42.4C. Great for multitasking. Good price.

Cons: Stock fan comes with paste already on it. Replaced with Zalman.

Other Thoughts: Runs cool with Zalman CNP29500. Overclocked with Gigabyte GA-M61P-S3 and Crucial Ballistix 2GB.

Rating + 5 Amazing

Pros: I think it is an amazing proc. I have been impressed with its stability and performance in x64 as well as its ability to run all my 3d Design and Adobe Suite stuff. It flies with 3ds MAX. Above all good investment.

Cons: Not really a con, I would love it if it was cheaper just because I'm a stingy bast*rd.

Other Thoughts: Better than the X2 series. Hands down.

Rating + 5 Good price point CPU

Pros: Excellent overcloking CPU, using stock HSF, stock voltage, I was able to achieve a 310Mhz Bus speed, with an overall OC of 2.8Ghz. Unfortunatly, the system was not stable at speed, so I had to drop the Bus speed to 270Mhz, with a lower, but still respectable final OC of 2.43Ghz.

Cons: Since one of the users mentioned it as having a 'copper tubing stock HSF' I'd like to point out, that this CPU comes with a regular, non heatpipe HFS. This was one of the reasons I purchased this CPU, but is not a major deal breaker for me personally.

Other Thoughts: Works great with an ABIT NF-M2 nView, and 2x1GB of Corsair XMS 6400 (ProMos) memory.

Rating + 3 Stick with the Athlon

Pros: The extra Cache, stock heat sink work well.

Cons: This doesn't seem to run as fast at the 1.8 X2 Athlon that I used in my brother's computer.

Other Thoughts: I should have just used the Athlon X2 and saved my self some money.

Rating + 5 Nice Chip and cooler

Pros: The included heatsink and fan are nice. It has the coppertubing, and what looks to be a good fan. Overall I think this will not need to be upgraded.

Cons: Maybe not a con, but personal preference - It DOES come with the pre-applied heat paste. Which is cool if you forgot to buy some, or dont have any. But it is widely kno w that there are many better paste out there. The AMD sticker on the fan is not centered.

Other Thoughts: I will update my review if I have any issues with this product, but for now... so far so good.

Rating + 3 Be careful

Pros: See below

Cons: See below

Other Thoughts: This chip does not work with all Socket AM2 motherboards. Be sure to check your motherboard manual to see if it will support the Opteron before you buy this chip. Maybe that's obvious to alot of people but it wasn't to me and I spent quite a bit of money on restocking this chip before I discovered it was incompatible with my motherboard.

Rating + 4 Great O/C!

Pros: Server chips are known for excellent overclocks, and this is no exception.

Cons: 9x multiplier

Other Thoughts: 2.8ghz on Abit NF-M2 nview with Mushkin 667 memory. Memory is holding me back because of the automatic memory dividers.

Rating + 5 Great chip!

Pros: Price is great for the speeds I got. Runs cool with stock heatsink and clocks up at stock voltage. Works great on Abit NF-M2 nView board. Great O/C board BTW!

Cons: Would like to see multipliers unlocked. 9x and lower only.
Get a 1212 if you want a higher multiplier

Other Thoughts: Make sure you get quality ram. I picked up some Mushkin ddr2 667 @ 3-3-3-10, runs fine at 800 and above. Get 2x1gb or you'll kick yourself later! :) (sounds like a memory review ha!)

Rating + 2 opti 1210

Pros: opti reputation, premium quality chips. i have another one in my server that i like.

Cons: runs really hot for the performance speed, something like 100 watts +++. That is hot. search google for processor electrical specifications to see how hot. not good for a htpc.

Other Thoughts: sent it back when i realized the amd x2ee's were out, they run at 65watts.
