Rating + 5 Great budget upgrade

Pros: I went from my outdated Pentium 4 1.5 GHz to this. The speed jump is just huge with this. I'm now able to do more things.

Cons: The L1 and L2 caches are small, but this IS a budget CPU.

Other Thoughts: If you have a Socket 478 motherboard that you still want to use and you want a cheap upgrade, get this.

Rating + 5 Awesome Overclocker

Pros: Got it to work great out of the box. With Asus board I have it oc'd at 3.5 with no problems. Great for gameing and you cant beat the price. Boot time shortened a lot.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Make sure your board is prescott compatible. My first one wasn't, got the asus, don't know why I didn't do that in the first place.

Rating + 5 Amazing Overclocker

Pros: First one arived DOA. One week and I had the new one, Thanks Newegg. Overclocked to 3.9 on stock cooling! And with only one voltage increase to 1.35v. Clocked on an ASUS p4p800se so I had no fear:) I recomend this proc over the 2.8 pentium.

Cons: 5 bucks to send back DOA cpu. Preformance - none

Rating + 5 Good CPU, even for a gaming machine!

Pros: Good speed, it can handle some new games, of course, with a good video card, nice FSB speed, you can use dual channel RAM.

Cons: Small L2 Cache, a little hot, but it doesn´t compare to Pentium´s Prescott heat!

Other Thoughts: You can have a mid range PC with this CPU, if you overclock it, it will perform even better. And for the price, it´s very good. I bought it at $xx :(
Overall, good CPU if you´re stuck with Intel.

Rating + 5 nice upgrade!!THANKS NEWEGG!!

Pros: another winner newegg!!!!upgraded my girlfriends pc, msi478 p4mam-v, from 2gig p4 400fsb to this. board had original bios in it and it booted right up, it set the right fsb and multi. i saw an immediate difference in speed, even with only 512 of 2100 in it, like alot. this is as quick as my asus p4p800e-deluxe, 2.53p4 533 fsb, ockled to 2.8 with a gig of dual channel in it. she doesnt do much heavy gaming so she is thrilled!!!!now if they could get the 3.0 800 fsb p4 prescott to around this price, im there, lol. just wonder what it would do with a gig of 266 or 333 2700 in it????yeah im looking, lol.

Cons: none ive found so far, hey, its warrantied for 3 YEARS!!!!

Other Thoughts: it may be a lil dated but theres a million 478 boards out there dieing for an upgrade to this. spend a few extra bucks and go with the faster cpu. makes a difference. memory and speed are the keys!!!!newegg is the best place ive ever been to online shop!!!!GREAT COMPANY!!

Pros: cheaper than a P4. Good deal for office apps only

Cons: even when browsing the internet the mouse and everything is jerkey/slow. Games are near impossible. Seems like I might have gotten an especially bad core or something... I wish I had spent a little more $$$ and gotten a P4

Pros: excellent performance. as good as a pentium for most tasks.

Cons: idles around 66 degrees C.

Other Thoughts: i'm very glad intel is doing away with the netburst architechture. as much as i like this processor, the heat it produces keeps me from being able to make my PC as quiet as i would like due to the need for a lot of cooling.

Rating + 5 CPU Intel Celeron 2.8Ghz

Pros: Bought this Celeron for speed and price. Saw no difference from the Pentium 4 with my normal office use. Newegg has excellent website, very reliable email systems to keep you up to date of what is going on with your order. Delivery is almost always on time. Don't know why others complained about UPS??? Left Z-Z-F (used to be google??) for poor customer service on a defective mother board. This is my 10th purchase with Newegg.com

Cons: None so far

Rating + 5 Massive overclocker............

Pros: All good for this little guy, I bought this simply to overclock it with one goal in mind.......3.5 Needless to say with stock heatsink/fan and some good venting in the case this little guy will run easy in the 3.5ghz range with lots more room to run. It push's through 12 hours of Prime95's torture test at 100% speed running at 55.C with no errors or shut downs. I used this with a biostar P4M80-M4. This CPU could easly hit 3.8+ with a strong power supply and adaquit cooling.

Cons: None very impressed.

Comments: first of all this little guy does his job. i already have 3 machines not counting my laptop (2 ftp file servers p4 based and one amd "main" home's pc) running in my house so my wife just couldnt allow me to spend alot on another ftp which i really needed. So i thought what the hell intel did a really nice job so i decided cheap celeron will do it 2 and i was right. This thing is nice nice nice nice. I really love it. I even tried it with the
HL2 which my son plays now and it worked perfectly. So basically if u want something nice for the light use u wont regret it buy it

Comments: i've bought *the other brand* in the past, but this cpu is great! i've only had it a few days and just started playing around with the OC'ing and its running stable @ 3.3ghz right now (21x160). that is just a fsb oc, i haven't even started playing with the voltages yet!

these chips run a lot warmer than what i'm used to... its happy running idle between 45-50. personally i don't like that and have cranked out the cooler, it runs idle now at about 38. the stock cooler does a great job tho, you may want to replace the little thermal pad with something better. i don't have the *good* stuff, but the paste i have seems to be working fine.

newegg is great as always, i was a bit worried about the new shipping partner, but it worked out fine, got it in 2 days using ground shipping (nj->oh). THANKS NEWEGG!

Comments: Bought this for a budget CPU on a friends machine and it was a pleasant suprise I must say. Ran fairly fast at 2.8GIG and faster than the Northwood core Celeron. Overclocked this CPU on a 865PE Neo2 board with certified Crucial ram to 3.6GIG without a voltage change of any kind. For the price in a socket 478, you really cannot beat this proc. I will say that this comes with a copper core heatsink and works good in cooling this warmer running Celeron (warmer than Northwood core, anyway). Newegg is the best-shipped CPU a day early.

Comments: I was unlucky and unable to bring this bad boy to 4.0ghz. I personally know many celerons have it in them but the chip I recieved sure didnt. 3.8 stable was the best I could manage without increasing VCORE over 1.5v, and another 200 mhz would have needed the core at around 1.75~ or instand death to my motherboard! Still a good chip for the cash though...

Comments: I have read the other comments stating that this is not a "gamers" CPU. Well that is not true. I paired it with a 256 MB Video card as 1.5 GB PC3200 DDR RAM. And this little guy is a screamer. So if you are looking to get a robust system as a reasonable price, this processor does its job well. Plus it does not heat up as much as its true Pentium 4 counterpart (Prescott).

Comments: Bought this proc to replace my wife's aging 1.6 (1.8 OC) P4 on a P4P800 Asus....OK, This thing, with factory cooling - we OC'd right to 3.55 Ghz on the Asus (factory cooling + 2x80mm on the case), no prob AT ALL. Not even a voltage nudge. Idle runs about 38, load climbs to 56C in a 72f degree ambient room under HL2 load. Normally this would be high, but remember, this is a Prescott core, and thats -way- under the ceiling. I can go 3.6, but the temps start to go above 60c...besides the 3.5ghz being way enough for CS:S and HL2...These Celery D's have cache once again, so they're not the slouches of their previous generation. Strong recommend, unless you're the Husband and run Athlon64's already.

I know that temps of the prescott are normally high, but I guess I finally figured a way to keep mine cool. Comments: While certainly not as fast as a Pentium 4 clocked at the same speed, the Prescott 335 model of the Celeron D boasts asignificant improvement over its slower cousin, the Northwood Celeron. With its increased FSB bus and L2 cache, I saw speeds 20% faster than that of my Northwood Celeron running at 2.7 GHz. Games will run a bit better with this processor compared to the Northwood Celeron. The price is much cheaper than a Pentium 4 and the Celeron D's reliability is also good. A must buy for moderate gaming system, with day-to-day purpose.

Rating + 5 Nice Processor a Welcome edition to the Celeron Line!

Comments: Refered to by some as yesterday's pentium 4 at todays prices, this processor is excellent.

Being a longtime Celeron user and having used a 2.0Ghz Celeron w/128k L2 Cache with my last system, when i recently built my latest Pc i had to try out this beauty. At 2.8Ghz and with 256 L2 Cache it is much faster than my previous Celeron and performs quite well.Nice!

This processor is also priced the same as older model 2.8Ghz Celerons available. So if your going to go with a budget intel processor this is the one to get.

Rating + 5 An improvement over the non-D model

Comments: There's definitely some marginal improvement over the 2.8 Celeron (400Mhz FSB). On a Shuttle SB61G2V3 with built-in Intel Extreme Graphics 2, the older 2.8 pulls about 1900 3DMark2001's. The same system with this new 2.8 Celeron D pulls about 2520 3DMark2001's. The D is running about 42 degrees C which is about 10 degrees C more than the older 2.8. Of course, even a $xx graphics card bumps the non-D system to about 3700 3DMark2001's, so you can figure out where to put your money.
