Cheap
Pros: works, cheap
Cons: Slow as hell.
Other Thoughts: I needed a chip to get up and running and was broke. I spent all my money on other parts. This chip worked until I could buy a good low power quad.

nice and works fine
Pros: I built a new system for Windows Home Server (based upon sever 2003). I did not need a high end processor for what I needed it. I needed quiet, low power CPU. I got it all. I am not sure I needed a CPU fan, as the CPU is soo cool! barely gets warm. So the 4 pin PWM Rosewill fan (10 dollars) runs at 700 rpm. Quiet! I know understand gong with old technology that is cheap and reliable, as it does everything I want at a fraction of the cost.
Bootom line, being a few generations behind on technology is a good idea.
Don't get me wrong, I do have a 6GB RAM, i7-920 that is great. But it is just for video work.
Cons: None

Great little CPU
Pros: Low energy consumption and temperature. Very overclock-friendly.
Cons: Mounting the heatsink/fan was a little scary. It required a little more force than it should have while attaching it to my motherboard (GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P). I was afraid I might break something, but fortunately, I didn't.
Other Thoughts: Used in my low-energy, low-heat desktop file server running Ubuntu. There is only one other fan in the entire case with this CPU, and it's mounted in the front for the the hard drives (and yes, the PSU is passively cooled). Under load, it cruises along comfortably in the low 40s (C). My motherboard (see above) decided to overclock it to 2.4GHz on it's own out of the box. This little guy didn't complain, and it actually took me a little while to even notice. Still, I turned it back down since I don't need the extra processing power (or heat).

Noisy Stock Fan
Pros: Inexpensive Low heat Low power Hopefully, long life
Cons: The stock cooler is rather noisy and only has a 3-pin power connector, so it can't be controlled by the motherboard. I don't know what Intel was thinking.
I replaced it with a Rosewill RCX-Z300 92mm Ball CPU Cooler that has a 4-pin power connector and Automatic PWM fan speed control.
Two of the pins on the original CPU fan broke while I was trying to remove it. I am definitely not a "fan" of the Socket 775 heatsink with plastic clips design.
Other Thoughts: I'm very happy with my WHS build now that it has a quieter fan.

Great for 24/7 Server
Pros: I installed one of these in a WHS server build. It's low heat, low power, and gets the job done with ease. This CPU is more than ample to run a file/media server. It was inexpensive compared to other processors that may have worked equally well.
Cons: Single core, but I knew that going in. Not really a con as this is the reason for low power consumption as well.
Other Thoughts: I used this build to replace my old dual Xeon server build which ate 140 watts idle and 200+ under load.
Antec 380w Earthwatts Intel DG45ID Board Celeron 430 CPU (35w) 2GB DDR2 800 2x1TB WD RE3 Drives RAID 1 3x 80mm case fans 60 watts idle, 73 under load

Great low power home/office server CPU!
Pros: While I prefer AMD, this processor has earned my respect (see other thoughts).
Cons: Heatsinks of this socket type are an absolute nightmare to install; they involve applying enormous pressure to the motherboard, warping and potentially cracking it, and hurting your fingers as you try to get the fastening pins to lock in place properly.
Also, the stock cooler is rather noisy. I replaced it with a cheap Cooler Master heatsink/fan, which was just as noisy. Finally, I bought an 80mm SilenX fan, which I discovered I could couple to the CM heatsink. Now it's quiet enough to sleep next to, and I've lived happily ever after (but gee, that was a lot of extra trouble just to get a nice, quiet CPU).
Other Thoughts: I've been using this processor in a "semi-headless"* home/office server running Arch Linux x64 for nearly a year:
This processor WD Caviar Green 1 TB HDD 1.5 Gigs Memory Silverstone Nightjar PSU 2 fans
It's on almost 24/7, the CPU temperature rarely rising above 26C, steadily performing all of the following tasks at the same time: - playing music via MPD - running a PulseAudio server that receives audio streamed to it over the network and plays it through the speakers - running a SSH/SFTP daemon - running rtorrent - running Apache ...and the list goes on and on - but the power consumption (I measured it with a kill-a-watt meter) stays between 50 and 55 watts. I'm planning on using it as a VPN server too, and considering its phenomenally steady, reliable performance under all the other tasks I've relegated to it, it probably won't be too great of a challenge.
*Has a monitor connected to it but doesn't run X-windows. Controlled via virtual/teletype console in a 1024x76

Pros: Its inexpensive and is more than adequate for a file server. It's great to see that a cheap processor is still available for the 775 socket.
Cons: none

GREAT CPU
Pros: This CPU is just amazing!! I don't know how Intel is doing it. Just over 3 years ago, AMD was king of performance, and ever since the Conroes came out in 2006, Intel has been kicking AMD's butts! This Celeron 430 has about the same performance as the AMD Athlon 64 3200+ but overclocks WAYYYYY BETTER! I had this thing overclocked to 2.68GHz but had to leave it at 1.8GHz because I'm a noob overclocker and couldn't make it stable (it's the motherboard I bought not the CPU). but people say they can get this to 3GHz!!! that's insane!!
Cons: I hate the celeron name...it sounds so cheap...CELERON lol
Other Thoughts: When Celeron comes to my head I think of terrible Intel CPUs...but after reading all these awesome reviews and seeing that this is based on the Conroe core, I bought it for a build for my dad's friend. After building the PC, I was AMAZED at the performance!!! It is VERY similar to my AMD Athlon 3200+ which I stated earlier!! Great CPU!!!

Overcloked to 3.0 ghz.
Pros: Overlocked to 3.0 ghz.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: For 40 dollars, you can get a usable secondary computer chipset. In my case, it is a four-computer development environment to run software applications I will develop. This is a nice chip. I installed CentOS on it, and I am looking forward to years of inexpensive but competent processing.

More than enough for WSH, but wished it was dual core
Pros: Great buy. Low power usage and cost for WSH build. Worked in a Gigabyte motherboard that it seemed like it would be too lowball to support (GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail)
Cons: Wished that it as dual core, but I knew that when I bought it. Not really an issue with a WSH box anyway.
Other Thoughts: It works. Not the fastest, but good enough for WSH.

Great low budget processor.
Pros: Works very well on a workstation. Runs cool.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Purchases as a sub-$150 system upgrade. Runs very well as a workstation computer, and for internet browsing.

Good for what it is
Pros: It's cool, it's low power, it's cheap.
You don't need to fan running on the Intel heatsink, BUT it will get somewhat warm.
Cons: It's dated. Single core is almost impossible to go back to after using dualcore for a long period of time.
Other Thoughts: Recommend for stuff you won't regularly need to use.

A+
Pros: Dirt Cheap. Great performer for a low end chip. Socket 775 lots of mobos for this chip.
Cons: Will not perform well for high end games
Other Thoughts: Basic everyday needs buy it. I built a back up pc with this chip running windows 7. It works awsome.

Impressive
Pros: Runs cool. Core 2 architecture. Low power. Overclocks well.
Cons: 512kb cache, but you know that when you buy a Celeron.
Other Thoughts: Ran at 22-24C at 1.8Chz with stock cooler, with voltage turned up to 1.525, ran at around 28 idle, 35 load. Although i do have the AC turned up and good case cooling, its much more impressive than my q9550. This cpu did everything i needed too, HD video playback, torrent-ing and some moderate gaming. And that's on a 1920x1080 monitor, as well.

Pros: cost, power consumption, overclock, Win7 ready
Cons: fan noise - even at slow speeds = 4 eggs.
Other Thoughts: Other: OC @2.99Ghz, 1.296 volts. BSEL 1066 + 250 cpu clock = 1333 FSB/333 bus. Ran Prime95 for 6 hrs, Intel Burn Test for 30 mins. No problems after 2 months OC. At 2.99Ghz this cpu does fine w/HD vid. Peak cpu 72% for the Bourne Ultimatum 1080p h264 movie trailer - WinXP sp3, VLC 0.9.9, GMA 3100 onboard graphics.
BSEL - google. Thick foil (coffee can seal) and a speck of coax seal (think thick, black silly putty).
Lapped IHS and HS - 240/400/600 - flat not polished. Replaced fan with a 12v 80mm case fan wired for 7v (5v if not overclocking) - much quieter than stock - google "7V Mod for Fans".

Best bang for the buck!
Pros: Low power consumption which equals lower temps.
Runs solid, it's Intel I wouldn't expect anything less.
Perfect for low stress or embedded applications. For a file server or a linux box it's great. Would make an amazing router if you wanted to build a box for pfSense, Clarkconnect, Untangle, etc.
Cons: Only a single core processor, but that is what gives it the lower power usage.
Other Thoughts: I used this processor to build me a new HTPC. The old one I had used an Athlon 2100+ with a single drive, single CD, video and sound card. It would eat up 145w of power while IDLE.
Paired this chip up with the following; LG 16X SATA DVD-ROM (N82E16827136165) Crucial 2GB DDR2 800 (N82E16820148164) Intel BOXDG45FC Motherboard (N82E16813121353) Silverstone NT07-775 CPU Cooler (N82E16835220034) Rosewill RS-MI-01 BK Mini ITX Case (N82E16811147131)
Runs cool and stable in a Windows MCE 2005 setup. I did decode some 1080p QuickTime files using the above setup. Some small shutters here and there, but for a single core process I'm amazed it worked at all!
Some say everyone should give Celeron a break. They have a bad name because they have low computing power. They can't compete with a regular processor, but they aren't made for that. They are low end and low cost processors for the budget minded. You get what you pay for.
Sometimes a slower low cost processor is just w

Great Processor!
Pros: Great Processor for home server usage. Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit runs great. The few things I have to compile run quick too! This spec matches many older P4's yet consumes near nothing when it comes to power!
Cons: Celeron sticker is ugly!

Worked well
Pros: Cheap processor but handled quite a lot, runs cool, low temps, handled vista well
Cons: It is a Celeron so while it is pretty good at most general applications, compute+cache intensive applications run little slow.
Other Thoughts: I bought it for my entertainment machine which is now running on a E2200

Good value
Pros: Used this cpu in a low buck build for my dad. Runs xp pro just fine, can easily handle everything he will use it for.. email, browse, music, simple stuff like that.
Cons: No cons for what the cpu is. It is built from what i read off the core duo, so your mobo may need to support core duo to support this celeron.
Other Thoughts: would buy again for a low buck build.

It's a processor!
Pros: Nice low profile fan & heatsink, quieter than my old stock Intel fan.
Cons: None

Intel Celeron 430
Pros: great little CPU for a limited budget build or a everyday user computer it's not a speed demon or anything but works good so far ( knock on wood ).
Cons: none so far ( not a fan of Celeron) CPU's
Other Thoughts: wish we would have possibly went with a bigger one but this ones works good so far. may upgrade later to a dual core or a larger single if needed. this was a limited budget build so was limited on money.

best bang for buck
Pros: low wattage, quick, price, runs vista no problems/hiccups.
Cons: none...
Other Thoughts: use this for a carpc, and the low wattage is perfect for the car, dont even have a fan on the cpu, just a custom heat sink, temps are idle at 35C and 43C full load, perfect just perfect!.

Good for basics
Pros: Good bang for the buck. Works great as a server CPU. Low wattage = low heat.
Cons: Single core means you're not setting any speed records.
Other Thoughts: No problems. Intel Celeron CPUs seem to be a solid choice for anyone looking for a good net box or basic server.

FANTASTIC...but...
Pros: decent...cheap...and well worth the price
Cons: i would have to say none
Other Thoughts: even though i used this for a month, it was defiantly worth it. good processor if you broke your pentium dual core (lucky the cpu was poop and i hated it) on your way home on a bike...now replaced with 9650...quad core(better deal than this).....if you have the money....get a quad core

Excellent!
Pros: Cheap! Runs cool, only 35W, very overclockable.
Cons: Single Core
Other Thoughts: I've been running this processor for the last 3 months. It replaced an E8500 and Q6600. I expected a huge performance downfall, but outside of games, there is almost no difference.
Several months, no issues. But...running it overclocked to 2.7 GHZ (from 1.8 stock). No issues.......AND....the absolute kicker that this proc rocks? Running is PASSIVELY cooled with a Zalman 9700LED heatsink/fan with the fan turned off at all times. Peaks at 75, idles at 65. Will either turn the fan on come summer time, or down clock a bit.

Affordable
Pros: Cheap, low power, core duo technology.
Overclocked to 3ghz immediately with 333x9 and stock voltage in an abit ip35-e board. 6 hours orthos stable but running a little warm with stock heatsink, 38idle/56load.
UPS shipping from NJ to PA is crazy fast, was like overnight shipping.
Cons: It's not dual core or free.
Other Thoughts: Nice chip, would have went with something 45nm but the board won't boot without a bios update. I had no older 775 cpu's to update, so I figured I'd buy this and try it out.

Impressed
Pros: I built a PC for a family member 3 months ago. I wanted to get him a Core2Duo but because of a bios issue I had to order this little guy. Once I installed it I noticed it performed pretty well but I still felt kinda of bad for not being able to install the Core2Duo.
3 months later I have some spare parts so I order this celly. I can't believe how fast he is. I'm overclocking him little by little but I have to say for 40 bucks it is an awesome purchase.
Cons: It runs kinda of hot for me. I got a 1.3 vid so it figures. I had a spare stock cooler from a q6600 going to install that.
Other Thoughts: If you are upgrading from a 478 platform/ 4-5 pc this will definitely do the job at a good price.

Great CPU, noisy cooler
Pros: Fast, inexpensive and cool
Cons: Noisy cooling fan
Other Thoughts: I am using this CPU in a Shuttle K45 with the included Intel cooler. The CPU runs cool at 1.8GHz, around 26-32 degrees C. I had no problems with the socket insertion pins...I used the trick of pushing in diagonally opposite pins 2 at a time. The cooler seated perfectly on the first try.
My only complaint is the noise of the Intel cooling fan. My system sounds like a jet airplane. I tried a Zalman Fan Mate, but even at slow fan speeds there is a vibration component to the fan noise that I find unacceptable. Fortunately the Shuttle ICE cooler is finally available separately for the K45, and I have one on order.

Awesome CPU
Pros: Cheap, Fast, Powerful
Cons: None at the price
Other Thoughts: Awesome CPU for my HTPC. I don't have a 1080p tv so it won't matter to me that this might not be able to crunch bluray movies or 1080p rips.
I'm currently watching 720p bluray rips and it runs smooth. I can actually watch an hd movie, browse, run torrents and the cpu handles it fine.
I read that this cpu overclocks like a champ but I have no need to since it runs fine with no slow downs at a slight oc of 2.0ghz.
This is a perfect chip for non-1080p htpc. I heard it'll do fine with 1080p playback so long as you don't run anything in the background.
Installs easily, low profile heatsink does the job and is perfect for low profile htpc cases. Draws very little power. I think this will perform well during the summer since it gets really hot in my home.
These are not yesterdays junk Celerons. They are much faster than the P4 and Pentium Ds while running much cooler and eats less power and half the price.

Excellent processor
Pros: Used this on a new Windows Home Server build. Does exactly what you'd expect. Rock solid and stable as you would expect for an Intel processor.
Cons: This has got to have the loudest stock fan I've ever heard. It's a 3-pin fan so no speed control. I could hear it growling and whirring away from another room. Had a spare fan (4-pin)/heatsink from an Core 2 Duo, so swapped it out for that. Much better.

great value
Pros: low power, reliable, low cost, upgradable. will do all basic tasks including standard flash video.
Cons: not for high def or high end graphics
Other Thoughts: perfect for any system that doesnt need high performance. just bought second, first has been running as media client for over a year with out a problem. this one will be running firewall/dhcp for a small network.

Forty bucks, 35 Watts, 100% capable
Pros: Premium Intel quality and low Newegg price. I chose this CPU based on my big picture analysis of what I use a computer for. CPU sophistication progresses so rapidly that a speedy 4 or 5 year old chip all too quickly becomes obsolete and undesirable. Not everybody needs 30 frames/second full detail processing power or the 100 Watt heat and over 5 times the cost that goes with the latest and greatest CPU's. My 1.8Ghz Cerelon can convert a streaming U-tube .FLV video on the fly, into a friendlier .AVI file, in real time. My entire ATX tower system right now is drawing a Kill-A-Watt LCD indicated 79 Watts, which also includes a (fanless) 128MB AGP card, the PC's 3 case fans (2 x 120mm) + (1 x 80mm), the little CPU fan and the hidden 300W PSU fan (5 total). I bet the Cerelon prolly isn't even using anywhere near it's full 35 Watts !
Cons: As was mentioned in an On-Line PCW or ComptrShpr "build it yourself" article, the Cerelon CPU's fan cage support post latches "require an alarming amount of force" to latch the 4 snap-locks. They were NOT kidding!!! The high installation force needed MUST be counteracted by a support piece on the MoBo backside. If you are doing this fan cage install on a standoff mounted MoBo (w/o any backside support) you're sure to fatally damage your MoBo !! The article recommended a small wood backside support piece, but I used a ¼" hole drilled into a wine bottle hard cork piece with comforting success. This fan cage latching mechanism is most likely designed for assembly line robotic installation. It sure wasn't made for humans to install.
Other Thoughts: Because of my wrenching background, I studied and worked the fan cage latch mechanisms so I knew exactly how they work. You should do so too.
MoBo installation of this CPU and it's supplied fan cage is NOT a job for novices or those lacking patience and respectful caution. Just like motorcycles, this high quality equipment is very unforgiving of mistakes.

Great Proc
Pros: Cheap! Runs Very Cool. Basically a single-core core 2 duo.
Cons: No gaming. No multi-core (which is rarely felt)
Other Thoughts: I run my with Zalman 9700LED with the fan disconnected. Idles at around 60 this way. Burn out early, no sweat, $40 chip. Love it. Sold my Q6600 and thought i'd only be on this a few weeks, but honest, outside of gaming, almost no noticeable difference! Oh, and it's fanless AND overclocked to 300 bus (2.2ghz)!

Good cheap cpu
Pros: Runs very cool even overclocked to 2.42ghz, around 24C idle. Does the job of running Windows Home Server with very little power usage.
Cons: None its just a cheap cpu that works fine.

SUPRISE SUPRISE
Pros: this little cpu is a conroe core, and 64 bit, and honestly, if given the chance, it will run right with a lot of the 64 bit amd's I've built. I put this in a (get this) lga 775 mobo i got for free,(out of a total Piece of emachine) and put one gig of Kingston Hyper X with it and it doesnt have one overclock feature, but it runs like he double hockey sticks.
Cons: not dual core
Other Thoughts: for the $...its an awesome daily driver!!

Stable OC
Pros: Low wattage, great OC capability, comes with a short heat sink / fan, price, snappy performance out of the box. Perfect chip for internet PC or HTPC system. 24 hour prime 95, memtests, etc and zero errors. kingston kvr66702/1gr x 2. fox central control. Free shipping, Newegg is the leader all around.
Cons: None for 40 bones.
Other Thoughts: Installed on a foxconn 45cmx motherboard, overclocked to 269 Mhz, runs at 75 F and is stable. I pushed this to 3.2 but had a little trouble with the integrated video (GMA,950) added a MSIr4870 and the problem went away. Super value for a low wattage chip, wide open for the OC enthusiast.

WOW!!!! Amazing single core CPU...
Pros: Results may vary, but I have this 1.8 GHz single core Celeron running at 3 GHz and it is rock solid stable. I can't really OC my RAM too much, but unlinking the FSB clock from the CPU clock and you can crack this sucker up! Awesome! I have better OC capabilited on these Conroe Celerons than C2D CPUs and a fast single core performs VERY well.
Cons: I can't get it up to 3.6 GHz?
Other Thoughts: No, seriously....a rock solid and stable 67% speed increase is PHENOMENAL.

Good CPU. Garbage OEM cooling.
Pros: Inexpensive, runs cool and doesn't eat much power.
Cons: The heatsink/fan combo included with this CPU is garbage. The mounting "solution" stresses the motherboard enough to warp it. The fan is insanely loud. If you're building a workstation or server that you're going to share a room with, do yourself a favor and pony up 25 bucks for a better cooling solution.

Pros: This was purchased with the cheapest one I could find in mind. It sees service in my spare computer. You can't beat the price. It meets the requirements of the purpose I bought it for so I have no complaints. There is no need for a lengthly technical dissertation here. The product specifications should just about cover that aspect of it.
Cons: Can't think of any

Good Budget CPU for basic tasks
Pros: Ordered this processor for a budget web surfing machine. Starts promptly and runs Windows XP well (for a low end processor.) This is a basic email and surfing machine. Not doing any real media and no gaming with this processor. It meets my needs perfectly. I have an IP-35 Pro with an E7300 for more demanding tasks.
Installed on an ECS Group G31T-M and added some generic Ram I had laying around.
Cons: None for the price.
Other Thoughts: If you want to build something to game on or do some serious media compressing and playback, this is probably not the PC for you.
If you are building a machine for basic web surfing and checking email, this processor will do the job just fine. Now I can take my old PIII that I free'd up and turn it into a FreeNAS device.

Like it.
Pros: Quality performance and sips power. Not even a comparison to the last generation of Celeron. Core2 architecture that has a lot of kick for cheap. (Cheap is good when you'll upgrade later.)
Cons: If you research this and buy it, there can be no cons. I did.
Other Thoughts: Running an E8400 now and I can still appreciate how quick it ran. Did a build for a neighbors son with it and loaded some real decent games. It does them fine with an 8600GT graphics card. He'll use it for school and I'll buy it back from him when he upgrades.

Best Bang for your buck
Pros: Cheap. Great option if you want to upgrade your CPU later.

Not for gaming or heavy multi tasking
Pros: Good price/performance. IMO. AMD solutions will have better price/performance. But if you plan to upgrade to a quad core... well here is your starter CPU.
Low energy requirements 35W Max (and very cool no need for a big heatsink, and if you are concerned about energy consumption)
Small L2 Cache Size. Definitely not for any modern main stream gaming.
Plays back 720p and 1080p video smoothly. good selling point.
Cons: Cant do much more than play 1080P video back.
I wouldn't even recommended having any other programs or background programs open while playing back 1080p video. If that is what your using it for.
So don't plan on heavy multi tasking either.
Other Thoughts: Bought two of these. One for a low power Nas server and one for a budget PC Sub $250.
Work great. 35W is unbeatable. Plus it underclocks from 1.8ghz to 1.2ghz and reduces vcore for even better energy savings

Intel Celeron 430
Pros: Cheap at around $40. Low power of 35W. Low chip temperature even running at 100%.
Cons: Single core. A little slow for multi-tasking.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to setup a motherboard for an E5200 (You need this CPU (or similar) to update the BIOS) and to see how it performed. Compared to my Q6600, it is slow, but if you are not running multiple programs, it is not bad. It scores a 4.1 in Vista for processing power. As a comparison, I checked built systems at the box store and found 4 Intel systems; 4.8 for an E2160, 5.1 for an E2200, 5.4 for an E5200 and 5.9 for a Q6600. For AMD chips, 4.8 for a 4050C(dual) and 5.8 for a 9150E(quad). If you like to go crazy multi-tasking, this is not the chip for you, but it looks pretty decent and if you know how to overclock, it is probably a good choice. Also, the max power for my system when the CPU is running at 100% is only 89W. (This was tested with a PCI graphics card, 2x1G memory, 1 HDD, 2 IDE optical drives and 1 120mm fan.) I did use good thermal grease to install this. Grease is cheap, CPUs are not.

Loud CPU Cooler
Pros: The CPU works fine. I'm using it on it's first boot-up with Puppy Linux (4.0 Live CD).
Cons: The CPU cooler makes a loud, high-pitched whine.
Other Thoughts: I'm using it in a Shuttle K48 barebones computer. It's fan is quiet. I unplugged it momentarily to see which fan was making the noise.

Impressive budget processor
Pros: Affordable 775 processor, LOW WATTAGE and takes simple FSB overclock in strides. Picked up for a cheap KPC build. Combined with 2 gigs of ram in the KPC, performance in XPPro and Ubuntu 8.10 is quite impressive.
Cons: Could have more onboard cache and could be cheaper.
Other Thoughts: Dual core Celeron e1200 was only 10 dollars more but used 65w v/s the 35w of this processor. I chose this processor to build a low watt machine. To keep be budget friendly, I kept the the build under $150 and used by using extra parts around the house. IMO --> AMD processor are have a better performance to dollar ratio. I gave it a "4 egg" due to the higher cost compared to AMD prices.

Excellent
Pros: Excellent processor. Unbelievable overclockability! Did a BSEL mod from 800fsb to 1333fsb on a Foxconn Mobo. Got the stock 1.8Ghz up to 2.99Ghz!!! WOW! STABLE! COOL! Running at 55 to 57 deg C on prime95 for over half hour. Been running it on stock cooling for over 4 months now non-stop without a problem. Actually is a very nice and cheap system (less than $400)
Cons: Vista rating went from 4.2 (stock) to 4.8 (O.C.) only. Thought it would be better with a 60% O.C. Maybe should have tried it with the dual-core cely...lol.
Other Thoughts: Excellent processor for people that like to "tinker". If you are familiar with the BSEL mod, I would definitely recommend this. If not, the stock processor is a bit of a dog. My system: cely 430, Foxconn M7PMX-S, 2 gig OCZ gold ddr2-667, onboard geforce 7100, WD 160G HDD sata2, Vista Premium 32-bit. cpu 4.8, memory 5.5, aero 4.6, gaming 3.0, HDD 5.6

Not bad...
Pros: very stable, perfect entry level processor. you can tell your friends, "I got a processor for forty bucks!!"
Cons: your friends will look at you and say, "you have a 40 dollar processor..."
Let's face it. If you're a gamer, this will get you laughed at.
Other Thoughts: Of course, you will want to overclock this thing if you plan to game with it. I ran it constantly at 2.11ghz with no voltage change and the temps never got over 42C.
But then again, this isn't the processor you want if you are into gaming. I got this as a temporary solution until i had the money for.... something more "wolf" like *avoiding the censor*

Does it's job
Pros: You can't go wrong with Intel as far as I am concerned. I have been in a position where I have been able to evaluate the stuff Intel and AMD produce and feel both are solid. I put my money on Intel based on the reliability I have had with them over the years.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I used this in a Shuttle bare bones with a Seagate hard drive and Kingston memory as a back up server. I work from home and it is critical that I back up my systems, I was able to set up a nice inexpensive box with this processor and the other components I purchased at New Egg. Thank you!

1333
Pros: Recently bought 6 ECS 7050VT-M's with this CPU - Added some TwinX 6400 DDR2 and a cheap SATA II. Set the mobos to 1333 FSB and set voltage for RAM and NB to maximum (still not very high)
This yields a simple 3Ghz overclock at a 1333 FSB. All ran prime95 reliably for a 24 hour cycle and temps stayed under control.
Stockfan is fine for this CPU and the performance gain from the OC is huge at a price that can't be touched by any other CPU/MOBO combination that I have yet found.
That is a lot of bang for a very low buck!
Cons: None given the fact it is a budget CPU priced right

Pros: Price & Performance, along with the FREE shipping! Well worth the money. Using this CPU on a ECS brand MOBO (G31T-M) and two 1GB Corsair memory modules, with no problems.
Cons: Heatsink/fan assembly was rather hard to install on MOBO. Two of the four retention pins were rather hard to fasten. Would have given an overall rating of "5", but installation of heatsink was a little tricky at first.
Other Thoughts: Overall, this a great CPU for the money.

You get what you pay for
Pros: an inexpensive option and quick little chip for what i do; just light web browsing, music and movies.
Cons: can run hot. had trouble getting heat sink secured at first.
Other Thoughts: the motherboard i got supports this as well as the core 2 duo so as prices come down this processor can be swapped out for one with a little more kick.

Great Proc...but...
Pros: It blows my mind that you can buy a microprocessor and have it shipped for less than a pair of $20 bills. Heck thats cheaper than the case i bought! At 1.8, this processor is just about as fast as previous generation of single core chips running in the upper 2Ghz range. The low power consumption, low heat, and high efficiency of this chip are amazing for the price, and this processor is perfectly suited for office, internet, and home server tasks.
Cons: The cpu fan really bothers me. It spins at a little over 2,000 RPMs, which for a fan that small makes a considerable amount of noise. The CPU fan is the loudest of the three fans inside my case. For a CPU that uses well under 35 watts most of the time, this is absolutly unacceptable. I love the CPU, but the heatsink is a piece of junk. Maybe others are having a better experience than I have had and i just got a bad fan. If so, please comment in furure reviews. In my opinon, for a low powered CPU like this, the heatsink should be virtually silent. The fan connector is a three pin connector, so unlike other intel models the fan speed is nonvariable.
Other Thoughts: Im running windows XP Pro, and this CPU is more than fast enough for my office needs. Unfortunatly if you demand silence, the heatsink will dissapoint you. If you have to buy additional hardware for acceptable noise levels, then it defeats the point of the budget CPU.

Excellent value
Pros: Installed in my Windows Home Server and provides snappy response and plenty of power for that application for such a low price. Runs cool, cheap and and plenty of power.
Cons: Stock heatsink is adequate buy whiny.

*Fast* for a Celeron
Pros: This is a very fast CPU for being a 'Celeron'. I have read many reviews on this CPU and I have to say that I'm very impressed. At ww* dot cpubenchmark dot com / cpu_list shows it very well. It beats the 3.2ghz P4 in benchmarking. WOW, what else is there to say.
Cons: NONE
Other Thoughts: If I was offered a 3.0ghz P4 w/HT or this CPU for use, I would choose this one for sure. Buy it!! you will be very happy with it.

Does the job
Pros: The processor does the job for my fileserver duties. It has a very low TDP and together with my Antec Three Hundred it is very quiet.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Newegg rocks.

Great for budget systems
Pros: You can't beat the price. I used this for a budget system on an MBOX barebone and 1 GB of RAM. Windows XP SP3 runs very fast, and the processor stays cool.
Cons: None.

Ideal for Home server runs cool
Pros: 35W CPU, its faster than the 3.0 P4 it replaced and a TON cooler. Great price, and low voltage. Ideal for a home server that runs 24/7.
Cons: Could be faster I suppose.

good and not so good
Pros: CONROE arch., very useful for budget builds, small tasks machines.
Cons: struggles with just a mild amount of multitasking. dont expect too much, def. go DUAL CORE if possible.
Other Thoughts: i purchased this cpu for a small media center. it runs video players fine, however does struggle when asked to do anything else. Price was the overall factor for purchasing this cpu.

Good for budget minded
Pros: This is the second time ever installing a cpu. Its cheap which is nice and for what I use it for, music and internet it does the job extraordinarily. Also got this because its compatible with my ASUS motherboard which is also compatible with a Core 2 Duo should I choose to upgrade later on in life.
Cons: When building my new computer this was the most difficult peice to install. I had difficulty getting the included heatsink to secure to the motherboard. Also not to fond of the quality of the thermal grease that came with.
Other Thoughts: Get some thermal grease. This CPU likes to run hot for me. Maybe I'm just special.

Very decent
Pros: This little processor is running my stuff really well. I purchased this as a temporary "fill in" until I get an E8400 and have absolutely no regrets. (It is crazy how this low end processor keeps up with the better stuff when single tasking and doing our normal day to day stuff.) Overclocks like a champ.
Cons: The price spread to get a dual core is so small it doesn't make sense to not go dual core. (I happened to get this in a package deal and the cost was next to nothing.)
Other Thoughts: Have it overclocked to 2.8 and runs cool. I am enjoying some bragging rights on the great performance I get. Keeping this around for future projects for sure. One thing...spend your money on a good board so your upgrade path (from one of these or similar) to a better CPU is fully utilized. Intel needs to jettison the Celeron badging or aggressively re-market it as... it carries baggage it no longer deserves. This isn't your grandma's Celeron.

For the Money
Pros: This processor screams speed under XP. For the money, you can't loose with this CPU
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: I have selected this processor to go into a budget build ($250) MSI Saturn barebones 945GCM5 motherboard with 2GB of DDR2 RAM, running XP Pro, SP3. This system went together and runs flawlessly

Great for appliances
Pros: These work great for low-cost linux appliances. Plenty of punch to run embedded applications for dirt cheap.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Cannot comment on heatsink/fan combo since they are using the 1u case setup.

BEST $40 ever spent on a CPU
Pros: Overclocks BETTER than CPUs at 5 times the price. Runs stable at 2.7 and 3.0Ghz by simply changing FSB from 9x200 to 9x300 or 9x333.
Cons: Wish I had gotten this BEFORE I watsed my time andd resstocking fees on an E8500 which refused to OC (get this Celeron or wait for EO stepping versions of E8500)
Other Thoughts: Gigabyte EP45-DS3R,Crucial 2GB DDR2 800 6-6-6-18

cpu heatsink warps mobo
Pros: Solid processor, works as expected. Not fast, but more than adequate for a linux desktop doing business applications. I use Fedora 7 with KDE, its works very well.
Cons: The heatsink design is horrid, no stiffener to keep the mobo from being warped by the connectors. AMD AM2 did a much better heatsink design with a metal stiffener. I consider this a huge problem.
Other Thoughts: I suspect there are third party heatsink solutions but the point of this device is low cost.

Great little CPU
Pros: Installed in Shuttle K45 to drive VOIP phone, Magic Jack. It looks like it's what I'll be using for internet all the time.
It's more than fast enough for anything I do on the internet.
System is very quiet.
Cons: This is my first Intel build in 6 years, so I never dealt with a push-pin heatsink. It took a bit of fussing to lock last pin. It feels secure, but I'm glad the computer configuration will keep it flat.
Other Thoughts: I should have unhooked power wires from around fan shroud before installing. Fan blades rubbed them. Shuttle case is cramped so unwrapping wires was awkward.

Pros: Very stable for what it is. Used for office purpose only, no gaming or video.
Cons: Nada
Other Thoughts: newegg rocks. Had to replace previous processor that cost twice as much. Computer kept hanging up then found on line motherboard I purchased through newegg would only work with this processor even though advertised otherwise. Should have done more homework.

Great for price
Pros: For the price in an average user's build it can't be beat
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Installed in my girlfriend's grandparents computer & it offers plenty of speed. I wouldn't recommend it if anything intensive will be run (photoshop, gaming, etc) but if just browsing the internet, using office, etc. it is perfect and extremely inexpensive

Little CPU that could
Pros: Granted I didn't buy this for high-power gaming, but for general office-type work and some programming, this CPU is a gem. With 2GB of RAM, it's running Win XP Pro x64, smooth as silk. And it runs at slightly over 30C, even under load. Its low power consumption is one big reason I picked it.
Cons: L2 cache could have been bigger. Stock fan is not perfectly quiet, but certainly no distraction.
Other Thoughts: I'm using it with GIGABYTE GA-945GCM-S2C motherboard, also bought right here, and it ran on the first boot, without any mucking around with BIOS or jumpers or anything.
